We were like, yeah, if you make it 90 burpees in a 50 yard swim like you're definitely Helping yourself because it makes the swim matter less and what do we see? Sorry There's three rounds the rope the rope climbs go five three. The ski goes five hundred five hundred five hundred And the rope climbs are touch and go to a
Starting point is 00:02:51 six foot line so Descend to the tape back up descend back up descend back up and it's biathlon It's muscle biathlon style. So if you break you have a 250 meter penalty regular rope climb correct regular so for you it would be unbroken just how hard you can ski and still go unbroken I think um so 15 rope climbs and 1500 meters ski if you don't if you don't get if you don't take any penalties and your feet can't touch the ground correct okay all right I'll do it it's five hundred and seven five hundred five five hundred three mm-hmm coffee all right yeah I'll do it um Magnus Holmgren I only came here because I'm a bald piece of shit and I just wanted to

I was 10 seconds, but You know what, dude, I should have, I wonder if I would have done a lot better if I did my Burby slower and just, I think the, I think the round of 42, I think 30 is going to hurt regardless. And 18, you know, you're almost done, but I think if you'd have done the 42 a little slower, you probably could have gone faster. Cause I can swim like my PR 50 yard swim is like 29 seconds what I can swim
Starting point is 00:05:47 50s on the minute repeatably is like 34 seconds that was like a 55 second 50 I swam that so slow but uh when uh when Bryson said first time no flip turn he's hurting I was like so it was really good commentary because I mean I saw that you didn't flip turn but I was like, first time no flip turn, he's hurting. I was like, it was really good commentary. Cause I mean, I saw that you didn't flip turn, but I was like, oh, he just wanted to get a bigger breath. And it's like, no. I was burning, yeah. I don't think he's ever seen me not flip turn.
Starting point is 00:06:14 That being said, that's the eighth time I've swam in two years. So I should probably have been smart with my programming, but I, you know, I was, it was originally going to be an even more of a swim workout. And I was like, nope, gotta be heavy on the burpee. And then I was like, man, should it be 50 35 20? Do you think I would have do you think I would have still you think i'd have been able to make No, I don't I don't think it would have mattered. I think you I think you would have buried yourself even more

And I think he did say they'll never be like a mile for time because that's an actual race, but the Olympics is actually not that, right? Isn't it a, don't they run a 2k? I think he said something like it'll be a 2k because they actually do a 1600 in track or he said something along those lines. So he, I get the point he was making. And I agree that Dave typically doesn't use distances that are
Starting point is 00:12:44 already used in actual track But this would be one of those times where he did What does this say Friday night 8 p.m. Central and doing it after a rest is not the same as just going out and running a 1600 meter so Clearly it's a they do something. There's a short rest and they run a mile time trial. You know what I mean? Yeah. Field sprint. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:10 I don't think we should just eliminate the idea that, um, it's not something with a weightlifting movement and that it's just running. I mean, it could be, but I don't know. We'll see. I would like to see another implement. That'd be cool, but I would also be okay with just like a hundred yard sprint rest into a 16, I mean run dude, the miles is straight carnage. I'm so, oh, I cannot wait.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I wonder if they run it around the track. You just think that's what they're going to do a hundred percent, right? Four, 400s. Yeah, definitely for the, for the mile. Yeah. I mean, I would, geez, I would hope it's not going to be shuttle runs on the field. Yeah. Oh, probably for definitely going to use the track. I just, I do wonder if this is like a 50 yard back, a hundred yard back. Is it just a hundred straight?
Starting point is 00:13:56 Is it like a one 20 and they're going to use the end zones too? Like, you know, what it would, what's the sprint going to be? Do you think we see a sub five mile? No. Really? Do you think you? Do you think we see a sub five mile? No. Really? Do you think you see, you think you see a sub? Let me take that back. If someone, if depending on how this is scored, cause this just says event six. So is it going, could it be something like this?
Starting point is 00:14:24 If the each, there's a mandatory rest for every person, but you start staggered based on when you finish the sprint. Or is it just going to be you do the first part and then at the 10 minute mark, everyone starts together on the mile and they're going to factor it in with total time. Like they're going to add your sprint time to your mile time. Like, who knows how it's going to be scored. Yeah, that's interesting. I would imagine that it's everyone starts the field sprint at the same time. Everyone starts the run at the same time, the 1600 meter. And you think maybe they just add the times or do you think what the
Starting point is 00:14:56 sprint is 50 and the miles 50? That's a great question. If they just add the times, the field sprint doesn't matter. It really doesn't at all. So I would imagine each is 50. Yeah. And that makes you wonder too, like, you know, in there, there needs to be a couple events out of 12 or 13 where seconds do matter because it's a, it's a sport of
Starting point is 00:15:20 seconds matter, so will there be separations of hundreds of a second? Probably so. And that's sport. So, you know, that's, uh, I don't know. I think there are a lot of people that are like, Hey, when, when workouts like that are so close that it doesn't really show much of a separation of fitness, but there's entire Olympic sports that are based on hundreds of seconds. So what's your what's your fastest Nancy time? Mine. Yeah. Oh man, I Have no clue the closest thing I've done recently to a Nancy is the workout that I did that you ran the class in Miami And that was with toast bar My best Nancy time ever is 959 and that was that was maybe
Starting point is 00:16:07 2019 Uh, my best Nancy time ever is nine 59 and that was, that was maybe 2019. I haven't done it since I had it. It was today. I just didn't do it. I don't do anything before it killed Taylor anymore for most of the time. Uh, Bryson did it though. He did 10 26, which was flying. I thought on our way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:19 He's got really, he's got really good overhead positioning and stuff too. He's such a good squatter. Yeah. And a good runner too. But, um, man, I love the 1600 meter run as a workout. We were just talking about, I wonder why other events hadn't been announced. This one drops. Wow.
Starting point is 00:16:34 That's pretty cool. Eight minutes ago. So sick. I like it. Uh, the one thing I hope is that there is something like an event five prior to this, where they get to watch some CrossFit in the stadium like I hope it's I hope new people that come get to watch some like CrossFit. I don't want to just see and hey to that note maybe you're right maybe the field sprint is
Starting point is 00:16:59 something other than just 100 meter run we have no idea I have no idea um this is um 100 meter run. We have no idea. I have no idea. Um, this is, um, John Young did not do John Young. Couldn't do Nancy in 15 minutes. This is on what? Let's see what my Garmin track that I was going to say. This is more like, this is more spins alley. He usually knows all these kinds of facts, but I wanna say the window of time that they're gonna be doing the Friday Night Lights is two hours. That's like the time slot. And this, especially if they did like two heats of men,
Starting point is 00:17:37 two heats of women. I mean, let's just say the sprint is a true, like, you know, sub 30 second effort. So you're looking at like, you can run, you can do heats every 10 minutes. That's only like 40 minutes to get this done with both sexes. So I mean, they could definitely do something,
Starting point is 00:17:54 rest 30 or 40 minutes and then do this or vice versa. I can't hear you. Where'd you go? Sorry everyone, if you can hear me and not Taylor. I can't hear him at all. Like, I think initial hopes of like a five to 10 K streak or like why it was the underestimated of how hard or easy that was going to be. All right, so Also what we're about to do right now over the next three minutes is we're gonna hammer out a time during the week that we Don't ever miss and that we're going to stick to I've got like I like the 4 p.m. Friday. I'll go ahead and say that on here. Are you gonna always do it from your car? It's possible depends on if I have to coach or not.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Or if I'm doing a training camp, which is kind of what I've been doing all week long. You've been doing a training camp? Well, I've just been helping Jason and Brooke out because she's been here all week. Oh, she's still here? She got here Sunday and I think she's staying through next week, middle of the week. So she has like 10 days. Okay. Well, yeah, ideally we do at a time where you're not in the car and you could use
Starting point is 00:22:56 your computer and your actual mic. What are you trying to say? I sound bad. No, I'm just trying to say that. Yeah. I am a little butt hurt right now. I'm confused. You're trying to make me insecure?
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah, I didn't get invited to the little fucking camp, the little fucking cool kids camp. The doors are always open, you know that. No, they're not, no they're not, it's all good. Hey, did they both get their fudge packed on that ski rope climb workout? Is that why you want me to do it? No, no, no, no, no, they did not.
Starting point is 00:23:27 But they've done a lot of really, they've done a lot of good workouts. They've had a lot of races within like 10 seconds, which is really cool because it is difficult at the highest level to write workouts that are going to affect males and females the same way. And it is hard not to give a little bit of an edge to one or the other. So yeah, they've had like, from two weeks ago when she came and this week, they've had like five or six workouts that have all been within like 10 seconds of each other.
Starting point is 00:24:01 And these are all workouts that are like 10 plus minutes or eight plus minutes. They're not like short sprints., um, it's been, it's been really cool to watch both of them and how they do things, how they do things differently, how they do some things the same it's been, uh, it's been good just from like, almost like a research standpoint, so what's the coolest workout they've done. Can you drop one?
Starting point is 00:24:25 Um, yeah. Oh yeah. I mean, I don't care. Um, I mean, people who have, if you watch the YouTube video, you've pretty much seen seven of them. Um, I don't think they wrote any of the workouts out on that vlog, but some of the combinations are there. Maybe the best one they've done this time, uh, this week on Monday, they did, uh, five rounds for time, 21 pullups, 15 Cal echo, nine dumbbell thrusters at 70 and 50. So just disgusting.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And they were within 10 seconds of each other on that workout, which is really, really cool. How many echo calories did she do? 12. Okay. So have they done a single, have they done a single HMPO workout? Yeah. So like Jake, no, they haven't. No, they have, they have all the workouts that I've written. Jake has like basically said like, like on that workout, he put, um, include regular pull ups and dumbbell thrusters 10 to 15 minutes, and then I wrote it. And then like, another workout that they did was like, bar muscle ups and ring muscle ups in the same workout. And then I would and then I wrote something.. So like it's, uh, yeah, it's definitely like, uh, in an outline form. And then I kind of get the
Starting point is 00:25:50 freedom to just like use whatever implements I have here and, you know, make stuff up, which is fun. Cool. Cool. Cool. What do you think each of them place at the games? Oh dude, I would bet I would bet. I would bet the gym on both of them finishing top 10. Like, that's not that's not a question to me, but I would I would. And that's I mean, a lot of people are going to say it's just proximity bias. But how fit I know, especially Jason has been all year, like since the open through quarters at semis and
Starting point is 00:26:26 Obviously seeing him five days a week from what November to now? And then seeing Brooke as much as I've seen her train against Jason head-to-head Yeah, dude, I'm I would be super confident saying that and I would say for both of them it's closer to five than it is Interesting I would say for both of them, it's closer to five than it is 10. Interesting. So we know Danny Spiegel's getting cut with all this running on the first two days. Dude, I think this is kind of exciting from a programming standpoint.
Starting point is 00:26:56 I would expect we see some sort of possibly single modality gymnastics and then some really, really, really heavy tests. With all the monostructural that we've seen. It's been crazy. It's been all monostructural so far. And then Chad, which I know we can go back and forth about, but Chad is not like any classic CrossFit, classic weightlifting, or gymnastics workout. Chad is a... Chad, I would categorize in its own category, and it is entirely psychological tolerance. And if you're taller, you have a big advantage period.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah. So it's going to be really cool. Yeah. I'm sure Dave is like, Hey, this is the aura. I want you to release them in. Um, because that does add a lot to it. If you release run swim, and then you release, uh, the other total, and then you release the other total and then you release 30 parallel handstand push-ups for time then then everyone's like oh yeah look
Starting point is 00:27:52 at this great balance everything's balanced but now that they've really skewed to one side of the events that have announced it's gonna be pretty cool because I'm sure there will be some new ish or new to the games movements that will come out that will catch some people off guard. Like a lot of the stuff that's come out, it's not that advantageous to do ahead of time because everyone can do it ahead of time. You know what I'm saying? And that's been an area of concern for a lot of people that certain people have access
Starting point is 00:28:22 to information before others so they get the right equipment in their hands before they show up to the games and it's obvious that they've had more time to prepare than others and with these events coming out I mean no one's no one's got any kind of advantage right now unless you're a good runner that's true master who do you think who do you think's last after day one after these in the men's lesser, a good runner. That's true. Massage. Who do you think, who do you think's last after day one, after these in the men's field and women's field? Oh gosh. After, sorry, not after day one, after these, these events.
Starting point is 00:28:55 So like, so like if you put all these events as events, one, two, and three, who would be Chad run swim this workout. I got Spiegel last Chad runs when this workout. I got Spiegel last Spiegel last and maybe like, I'm trying to think, is there a, I mean, is there a weightlifting like specialists in the men's field that you would, you would just call a weightlifting specialist? I don't know. Yeah, but yeah, but I think he's a good swimmer.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Like I think his, I think his, uh, like base aerobic capacity, which I would say is a lot of these. I mean, except for Chad, maybe just being a grit, I would say his that base capacity doesn't worry me at all. And it worked out like that. What I was really interested to see from Guy, do you remember that road chipper that they did that had the feed sack step ups and the muscle ups and the handstand push ups in the row. I want to see like a 24.2, like 15 to 20 minute that kind of like CrossFit test because I think that's, you know, that kind of capacity is very different than just having all monostructural stuff. So far, these workouts have been incredibly simple.
Starting point is 00:30:07 And to me, it's like, there's no out running what it's going to take to win the event or to make it past the cut. It's do you have, gosh, do you have the guts to just fucking hurt? I mean, you obviously have some swimming skill, but on Chad, the mile and the. Damn dude, it's straightforward. Starting point is 00:33:29 You just think that person should never compete like, cause I mean, I, I think a lot of people, especially aesthetically, if they continue to train, they're going to hold onto that physique. She, uh, let, let's just say this. She didn't take it a long time ago and then start doing CrossFit She's on the fucking full juice. She's on the juicy juice. She is on the juice box 100% and I don't know my opinion on that is if you're a fucking cheater That's that that's it. You're a cheater doesn't matter that is is that cheating if you took it and if I murdered a guy 10 years ago?

Like you can't, you can't use performance enhancing drugs and then stop using them and not use them and make the games and be okay in your, that girl, that girl's body is not a body of someone who stopped using them and just kept doing

I'm just asking in general because I think there are probably males and females whose physiques look like they're not natural, but because of whatever they did previously before they started competing in CrossFit, they looked that way. As long as it's four years after, then I don't care. If they've used it within the past four years. So four years is your number?

But to me, if you're, I mean, dude, if you're, if you're 21 years old and your buddies, you know Injecting something in your glute and you're like you're just an idiot and you just want to be just want to be bigger and You want to get jacked and then what's your buddy injected in your glute, bro? That it's a sprint with a bag or it's a sprint with a sled or if it's a, yeah. And that is weight lifting.
Starting point is 00:43:39 That ain't, you know, that's, it's moving an object from you. Because one of the, a really like, not necessarily exciting, but a cool stimulus would be just like an empty sled sprint of a hundred yards into a mile run. You know, something like that would be really cool. And easy to watch.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Cause I think if you have more than like 10 on the field and you're doing like a true foot sprint, it's kind of hard to watch it because it's, there's so many people so close together, you don't know if someone got third or eighth in the heat. You know what I mean? This is a great, we talked about this in our last episode, Mike. I am. I think it's, I think it's more monostructural than anything else.
