Bam, we're live.
I got some new camera angles.
Do you? Yeah. Oh, damn. I got some new camera angles. Do you?
Yeah.
Oh, damn.
I heard that hum pretty bad right there.
I wonder why it's not popping up on this TV.
I want you to see the new camera angles.
Dave Castro live in studio upcoming.
Oh, shit.
Maybe since it's scheduled for 340, we're live and people can see it.
That's so weird.
I wonder why I can't see us on this TV right here.
Oh, but I see the comments.
All right, fuck it.
Maybe it'll pop up.
Oh, there it is.
Look at it.
See, look at that angle right there.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It's cool, right?
And then I can switch to this, me, and then that one.
So which one?
So everyone, so that's what's on.
They see them all.
Yeah, they see them all.
That's just a little delayed.
Gotcha.
It was nice of you to bring this wine.
Yeah, I wanted to share it with you and as we sample the new the new offerings
why did you do why did you do that I'll pour fat pours so that's pretty fat pour
yeah I've never I've never oh there's my phone right there then let's talk about
the wine I just picked it up.
Read the label.
El Vaquero.
There you go.
Oh, what does that mean?
Like El Vampire, El Vaquero?
I need to look that up, El Vaquero.
How's your Spanish?
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Check out the- Vaquero.
Read the label.
Vaquero.
That's it, just says El Vaquero, Sandy Lane Vineyard.
Damn, this was expensive.
Don't worry about that.
El Vaquero is a small family operator winery
based in Corralitos.
They like to support local businesses.
That's the town between my town and your town.
Corralitos, California, home of our
sustainably farmed estate. What's mean sustainably google it uh sustainably farmed estate pinot noir
vineyard we believe great wine is made in the vineyard uh using a minimal intervention style
of winemaking to express the unique characteristics of each vintage someone commented high as fuck
No
Do that El vaquero celebrates the heritage of Coralitos and a spirit who watches over the estate vineyard Oh
The apparition of a cowboy El vaquero, has made himself known on several occasions.
He's believed to be a shaman
who often meditated on the hilltop property
overlooking the Monterey Bay in the 1880s.
We hope you'll enjoy drinking our wine
as much as we enjoy making them for you.
It's not even a Mexican name, the family.
Well, of course not.
They live in Corralitas.
It's a even a Mexican name, the family. Well, of course not. They live in Corralitas. It's a Polish family.
Here, pour yourself some.
Prickaziski.
Prickaziski.
All right.
Have you ever had this wine?
No, but it looked cool, and it had the local story.
How long did you take to pick this up? Cheers, buddy. 20 seconds. But you looked long enough to look at the back of the local story. So I was like, how long did you, how long did you take to, um, uh, choose, pick this up.
Cheers,
buddy.
20 seconds.
Oh,
but you look long enough to look at the back of the,
um,
yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
You know,
um,
here you go.
Oh,
you know,
I don't think,
uh,
hold on one second.
Slow.
Let's slow roll this.
Okay.
Okay.
Um,
you know,
I don't,
I,
I think this might be the first time I've ever drank on the air.'s definitely the first time i've ever drank on a podcast or uh on air
i don't want anyone to see me in that state what if i start lisping just take it
just fake it just go easy just go easy just fake it okay uh lemon infused olive oil
uh sage made you do this she's like hey you need lemon infused. Sage made you do this? She's like, hey, you need lemon-infused?
Your wife made you do this?
No, no, no.
The guy I work with who sells this, who grows the oil, who I get it from, he also does lemon-infused.
So I said, hey, I want to offer some lemon-infused in my collection.
And so he put that together for me.
And also garlic-infused.
He also has a pepper that he does but we didn't do
it this time and so we're gonna have you tasted this yeah oh we are yeah yeah we're gonna say i
brought the whole kit holy shit dude a sample of that's why we need to sample the whole have
the experience wow have you seen the new uh daniel brandon documentary that you're in open those
open those while i'm getting everything out i have not seen the documentary they um asked me to be involved with the salami
and cheese damn yeah little little little afternoon picnic inside the during the podcast on the
podcast um haven't seen it i think i thought they were going to send me a they might be sending me
a they said something about sending me a vhs i don't know if that's real or not but like nobody
has a vhs player these days rad kind of goes with an old school look you know what i mean that's
kind of their vibe retro right yeah yeah but the thing is um how will you play it yeah exactly so
if they really do send me a vhs maybe it's just a collector item. I don't know.
Cool. Regardless here, take, take, um, take these.
So, uh, I took a nap. I woke up, I did a shot of espresso.
Oh, fuck.
I did a shot of espresso. Now I'm drinking wine and now I'm going to drink olive oil.
No, no, no. You're going to taste the olive oil with the bread.
Oh, okay. God, no, no. You're going to taste the olive oil with the bread. Oh, okay.
God, my poor stomach.
Oh, you know, your wife took the cut bread.
The cut bread was for this.
Text her and tell her to bring that bread back.
She wasn't supposed to.
They started eating the bread that was pre-sliced.
The pre-sliced bread was for this.
I don't really like you blaming my wife.
I don't know.
My audience is a group of... I'm not blaming your wife. I'm just saying that's what the pre-sliced bread was for this i don't really like you blaming my wife i don't know this is my audience is a um group of i'm not blaming your way i'm just saying that's what the pre-sliced
bread was for this we're an accountability uh group of uh accountability and responsibility
dude did you tell her you're already eating
i want to snap i'm trying i'm trying I'm trying to call her
I don't know why it's not working
I don't even know where my phone is
didn't I have my phone
oh here it is
Haley
hello
Jesus Christ
what am I telling her to bring
that pre-sliced bread back so we can sample
the olive oil
please bring back What am I telling her to bring? That pre-sliced bread back so we can sample the olive oil.
Please bring back.
Oh, I saw the boys eating it already.
That's my point. Oh, pre-sliced bread.
Dave forgot it in the house.
She's going to be like, oh, shit, the boys ate it already.
It's not reality. What does it say? Okay say uh okay sorry when people pay i have to stop uh show needs more callers with nothing to say
he told what did you tell me dave we didn't finish uh talking about the documentary i know but what
did you tell me about callers uh let's not ever do that again it It's not really drinking. It's a wine tasting. It's classy. All right, fine. Oh, yeah. Okay, okay.
Someone said that?
Yeah.
So tell me what infused olive oil.
Hold on.
This is some serious multitasking.
Yeah, they're sending me the DVD, but they had asked me to be in it.
And I, hold on.
Take your time.
Take your time.
There's nothing to rush here.
Take your time.
They wanted to film with me while I was at the Rogue Invitational.
And I said, there's no way I was going to do that.
Because I was there for such a short time.
And I don't like doing things on top of things most of the time.
And so I, uh, we didn't film there.
And then they're like, Hey, let's, um, we need to, do I pour this in here?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cause that's where you're going to dip.
And who, when you say someone says that to you, who says that to you?
Did Danielle?
No Cooper.
And, and, uh, they should have had Danielle ask you.
That's where they went wrong first.
Hold on.
I have a cup.
I have a cup.
Yeah, but there's two flavors, remember?
Oh.
So this is the lemon, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
If any of this spills on my computer desk, I'm going to fucking freak out.
This is really nice of you to bring this over.
Hey, these are nicer than your original bottles.
So you don't like the tins?
You like the bottles?
No, no.
I like the tins too, but I'm saying originally you had this bottle.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I got you with this.
Yep.
OG bottle.
I don't know.
I might not like the tins.
I like the tins.
It's a better look, but they get dented.
I don't know.
I might like the bottle better.
Do I have to give this back to you or do I get to keep this?
Yeah, I'll be taking it home at the end end or you can buy it at a discounted rate
at the open bottle rate yeah there you go um hey will you sit down with us and film at row we want
to ask you some questions for the documentary so then they ended up um saying hey can you come out
to us and i'm like hey i'm not traveling to do this. And they said, we'll send a crew to you.
And so they sent a crew out, and they went to the ranch,
and we set up, and they asked me a handful of questions.
We probably interviewed.
Dude, this smells fucking great, this garlic.
We interviewed for probably half an hour or so.
Oh, maybe an hour.
Is Danielle there?
No, no, no, no.
Who's there?
Anyone I know?
Ben?
Nope.
The rad guy?
Don't know him.
Yeah.
I get my own plate of salami?
Yeah.
Jesus Christ.
Salami and cheese.
It's like a picnic.
Picnic we're sharing with.
Picnic indoors.
So is he the director of the movie?
I don't know who the director of the movie is.
Why would the shoe...
It's interesting that the shoe guy came out to do the movie.
Maybe he is.
Okay.
Hold on.
Is she bringing the bread?
Hey, would it have been different if she was there?
Like, did they ask you questions?
Like, what kind of questions did they ask you?
God, these smell good.
They asked me about my relationship with her, how I met her, how long I've known her.
You know, I met her back in the 2020 games because she was on the demo team.
you know,
I met her back in the 2020 games cause she was on the demo team and whenever someone,
she was came to cantankerous on the,
on the,
uh,
demo team,
right?
She was wily.
I think that's just how she is in general.
Right.
She,
but she postured on you,
which you're not used to.
Yeah,
for sure.
Um,
but I think that's part of the,
um,
John,
what makes her unique,
you know?
And so,
and her,
um, they just asked me, but what I, unique you know and so and her um they just asked me but what i you know um about her and what i thought about her and her story and what she's been through and how
she's a fighter and you know just in some regard the being a fighter and kind of being having an
underdog perspective i sort of relate to you know um she's she goes against the grain
and so i respect and appreciate that in people i also talked about how she uh when i got fired
she was one of the very few newer modern athletes who reached out to me and uh and that meant a lot
and what did she say adios bitch yes exactly what did she say like Adios, bitch. Yes, exactly. What did she say?
Like something like, hey, we'll miss you or that sucks or you still got my digits if you ever want to hang?
What's this?
I have a lemon, so now I need a garlic.
Oh.
Garlic's crazy.
It smells crazy.
What do you have two for?
So you have two.
Oh, you have your two.
Yeah.
And they look the same.
And I was like, how are we going to tell them apart?
But there's no doubt you can just smell them.
Is that enough?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But so I talked to her in Nashville when I was at the open about it.
And she.
Clear some of that shit off.
That shit's making me nervous.
Give me some.
Let me do my thing. Let me do my thing here you go
um she said she was happy with the documentary and she liked my part in it so that was cool
did she did she say give you any insights like hey dude they had some shit in there that i didn't
think was cool so i had to take it out or boy i'm boy i don't know if i'm ready idea what it's about like really i know it's about her but like i don't even um like is it
about her past her whole life is it about her competitive time competing i don't like i'm not
quite sure is about her role with rad so i'll tell you what i know after i read this lucky
camera straps my girlfriend
level three coach and i are visiting the u.s in may and june we want to spend a week
at a great affiliate in a nice area anywhere you guys would recommend in the southwest
or texas uh shit uh teal's gym right crossfit central yeah that's a nice gym nice gym a nice area
gym is like a couple hundred yards away who oh annie sakamoto yeah her temporary gym have you
been there yeah we did a we did a workout when we had a um meeting here a few weeks ago
at the religious campground at the presbyterian campground yeah how is it is it indoors
it's indoors it's in like a huge shed kind kind of like the ranch shed, but, um, it's a little more, it's a little rugged.
Um, but it had a lot, it has a lot of potential. I told her it'd be cool if she could stay there,
but she can't because they can't, uh, open on the weekends or on Saturday.
What's the story with the bread? Oh, oh shit. I don't know.
Oh shit, I don't know
So in the in one of the previews her mom sitting there and her mom says something like yeah And I'm paraphrasing and then the feds came and raided the house. Oh wow yeah
Anything you want to say about that
that oh buddy oh buddy sucks when you know the guest better than you're supposed to um uh see what i said there's a lot of relate to with her oh yeah yeah yeah i you know she jumped
out at me because early on in her story she was like hey i'm not taking the injection and i didn't
care whether she was taking the injection or not.
I just thought that since that was somehow a controversial thing, I thought it was cool that she came out and said that, you know?
Yeah.
Hey, I text her.
What do you want me to do?
Hey, why did you when you walked in, you said, oh, hey, your house is cleaner than I thought.
Do you think I live in a dump?
I think you are not that clean of a person.
Oh, fuck.
You asked the question and I was just surprised to see.
What about why?
Because you've come over to my house, and you think it's messy?
We've already opened the door.
Let's go there.
I'm just saying.
All right.
I said my piece.
I thought my house looked kind of messy when you came over.
My garage got shit all over it, all kids' gym equipment.
What's up with the games, Doc?
You know I told you, hey, that'll never be released.
I don't think you told me that.
I don't remember that.
And it will be released.
When?
Soon.
What's the hang up?
How is it?
Are you mad at them the way you're mad at me?
You're always like, you take too long to turn shit over.
What's taking you so long?
You've been saying that to me for 10 years.
Do you say it to those guys? I'm i'm not um i do respond like that often to situations
like you're just yeah yeah you bully me not you just like i think when there's not just me when
there's a product or when there's something coming out or when there's a deliverable
yeah i hate the artist's delay right meaning people like creators like you, it takes a really long time for things to happen.
And so I like to put pressure on people or my team to get things out on a timely fashion and more often than not early.
Ironically enough, you'd ask the team in regards to me around programming and in the past programming specifically they were hyper
critical of how long it took me to get them the programming for whatever stage i've heard that
for years so it's funny that i'm saying that because on the flip side it's a criticism of
of me uh recently um my buddy brian friend was on a podcast and he was also critical of the time it takes you
guys to like make plans and shit like that who brian friend i never i i've never been critical
of you about that the game's timing for me is fine i never feel like you guys are late this is
i'm talking about something different i'm talking when i'm i'm talking about like i'm talking about
the delivery of the programming to internal assets
so they could like start organizing
I understand
are you calling my wife?
yeah
I hear your fucking dog barking
I see him outside I'm about to take a sip
I did two podcasts already
today i don't go on other people's podcasts how was that it was cool it was cool i felt it was
the most natural i ever felt on a podcast i do so many where it's like my podcast yeah it was kind
of like having you on where you just take control. It was like that.
It was like, okay, I just got to take a deep breath and realize that they're going to control it.
I'm going to sip this.
This is the garlic.
Let me go.
I'm going to go get the bread.
Serious?
Yeah.
Okay, go ahead.
Please don't trip over anything or knock your wine over.
There's no room for you to get out.
Dude.
Dude.
Oh, because you have this white carpet.
Ouch.
I'll open up the phone lines while you're gone.
What's Dave's favorite Bible story so far?
He doesn't have to profess a belief system just for fun.
We'll get there.
We're just warming up.
I get him drunk,
have him take his shirt off.
Way out of my comfort zone.
Jesus Christ.
Uh,
it was cool.
I didn't know that.
Um,
I didn't know that Andrew had,
uh,
pushed the,
I didn't know Andrew had pushed the,
uh,
glint and things podcast,
but I went over to the glint and things,
uh,
podcast to look at the comments over there. And's a half dozen comments saying that andrew pushed
people over there that's fucking really cool where did where did he push that um where did
he push that oh bernie gannon davis mellowed over the years for sure holy crap you don't even
oh hayley said that? Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Don't bother.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
You're nervous with all this stuff going on, aren't you? Dude, I'm so out of my comfort zone.
Why?
Just roll with it.
Just be happy.
Okay. Why? Just roll with it. Just be happy. I thought about handing you the bag, but...
Okay, which one are you going to go in first?
Hey, I tasted that. It's fucking great.
Which one?
The garlic.
Hold on. I think I'm dipping into the lemon first.
Okay, then I'll do lemon first too.
Yeah, the lemon has no odor basically.
It's like lemon pound cake.
It totally is.
Is there sugar in olive oil?
No.
Yeah, this is crazy.
This is crazy good.
That's the yellow bottle.
Hey, you know what?
The straight olive oil is great too.
I feel how light this is.
I've drank all that on the show live. That's that's how right big yeah you can tell right swole
let's try uh let's try the garlic going for the garlic
the garlic has a strong
are you enjoying the the whole olive oil thing? Mm-hmm.
Dude, this is awesome.
It's good.
I went to Cafe Cruz last night, and it tastes just like the one that I make there,
where I mix all of that minced garlic.
Yeah, this is great.
Hey, congratulations.
Seriously. Thanks. This is fucking crazy that you do this
Hey, where's the matuthing I gave you? I think I lost it
Douche nozzle
Hey, you should talk to um dale king about having this on his website, too
Okay, so these are the two new flavors are these more
expensive a 250 is 25 a 500 is 45 that's a 350 i think it's like 35 373 yeah 375, this is good. And it's dated.
It says, why does it say 1122?
That's when it was cultivated.
Oh, it takes that long to finally get into a bottle, huh?
He cultivates it, then we put it in the bottle, and then we sell it.
So it's from this past season.
Thank you.
Look at this picture.
A fan drew that for me.
No one can even see it, don't worry.
No one can see it.
Do you want some more salami and cheese?
Or you have some?
All right.
So. You've never had a guest on where you just sample olive oil drink
wine and have salami cheese have you no it's good though i'm gonna um so uh let me get let me give
the people some seem out of sorts let me give some people some shit um so the there's a daniel
brandon documentary coming out on the 27th do you know where that they're putting that VHS? No, but is it going to YouTube or iTunes or
Netflix? You have no idea. And then what about, um, uh, the, the CrossFit games documentary,
the one that was made by the Hollywood guys, we're still working on getting it out, but it's done.
Yes. And you've seen that. And is it good? Yeah. It's really cool. I liked it. Is Daniel
Brandon in that one? Yep. It's not aielle brandon doc but she's in it who who
runs the show in that who's the big superstar in that i think annie's in it um a lot she's got a
prominent role they actually go to iceland and film her and interview her there who else was in it
noah's in it chandler how about velner velner yep there's a handful of them that they followed around any good drama from danielle because there's some drama yeah there's some coaching
drama some back and forth between her and her coach that was interesting matthew torres the
guy who looks like you um that guy does not look like me what do you mean
other than we're brown yeah what about us there's only three looks on people do white brown and
asian um yeah there was some i wish we would have captured more of that or
are gone one layer deeper but um I don't think they got that.
Are those guys coming back this year?
I don't know yet.
What do you think about the – you probably don't have an answer for this.
What do you think about the success of the behind-the-scenes? Did it help with what I did help with the open or drive-level ones?
Yeah, I think it drives awareness to all of it. I think it's good.
I think he did a good job. I think people
were excited about it. I think it drove anyone
away. I think it hurt your numbers.
Your involvement
potentially. I can't put
an exact number on it, but I don't know.
I mean, I can't prove that it
drove anyone to an L1 or it drove
anyone to sign up for the Open. I also can't
prove that it
drove anyone away, but I or it drove anyone to sign up for the open. And also I can't prove that it, it drove anyone away,
but I can say having saw 80 to 90% of them,
I think it was done really well.
And I think it was additive to the whole season and the whole entertainment
that is the sport and the games.
Thank you.
By the way,
Heather Lawrence and Haynes did an amazing job uh
promoting it haynes has been uh i've been in close touch with haynes uh that's the guy that
runs the game social media and he's been just fucking pumping it out the last couple days
from pushing people there and then uh heather got it put i think in the in an email which was
really fucking cool it like made me feel really good.
Dollar 99 asymmetric gears.
Thank you.
You don't want to say anything for dollar 99.
They don't get to ask any questions.
Not this show.
When,
when you were,
um,
there was a nuance I want to ask you about when you were recently did you,
uh,
got together with your buddy,
rich Froney.
And that was fun.
By the way,
that shit is so fucking cool.
Kudos to you you and anyone who says
um that like you're soft or any of that shit that's just bullshit soft is not fighting back
it's so cool like no like do you know what i mean like other corporations like someone talks shit
to them and they just kowtow you're like fuck you you want to talk shit about our media team
eat a dick and like you fought back and then and then they come out and film with you and we get to watch the whole thing. You know what I mean? We get to watch the whole thing. And so and there was a really cool healing process, not like in a in a I don't mean to be over sentimental, but seeing you and Rich come together and see how like men or adults handle a situation like that. Really fucking cool watching you fist fist bump Scott Vanderloot, who's incredibly talented. Awesome.
In that conversation, go ahead.
You want to say something?
Yeah, I don't think there was anything soft about how I handled that.
No, no.
I didn't want to be soft in saying that it was, oh, right.
Okay, fine. Like people saying like you said people said.
Yeah, like you're being woke or you can't take criticism.
It's like, no, dude, like you're driving by in your car and someone's like at the fifth time,
someone says your car looks like shit.
You're like,
fuck you.
The thing about not being able to,
just cause you respond doesn't mean you can't take criticism.
Right.
Just because you defend yourself or,
or add information to a topic that's one sided,
does it mean you can't take criticism?
Um,
I think people are people, especially when they see someone like myself in a call it a position, authoritative position or like overseeing something.
There's almost this expectation for that individual just to take it and shut the fuck up.
You know what I mean?
You take the insults, take the abuse, take the criticism and don't defend yourself
or say anything.
And I'm not going to do that.
Hey.
But I'm also going to be very selective
about when and where I do that.
I think there's plenty.
People are always taking jabs at me
or insulting us.
It doesn't mean I'm going to respond to every single one. And actually don't respond to most i know you said you don't respond to but there's
again 50 of them and when you said that i was laughing i'm like you don't respond to 99 yeah
99 there's uh there's some that like in this rich case yeah i chose to respond yeah that's your boy
yeah um but here's the thing and i mean this with absolute certainty
with all arrogance and confidence whether people hate you or love you on a subconscious level
you offer them something that no one else gets from any other brands and that's real they got
a real person to pop their head up from behind the fucking counter and be like what you know
what i mean and And people love that.
That makes CrossFit real to us now, and we can be attached to it,
whether it be like being disgruntled with Dave.
They're emotionally engaged now with CrossFit.
It's you.
It's like it's you again.
Hey, dude, I know I've told you this before,
but I'm going to say it to you even harsher
in front of all these people.
You are making a mistake
not doing all the open announcements.
You are making a fucking mistake, dude.
It's what's best for the fucking company.
It's what's best for the CrossFit Games
and it's what's best for the open.
And I want to tell you something.
I've heard not one person say different.
Someone said he said that he was punching equal
and not punching down. I wouldn't say he was punching equal, not punching down.
I wouldn't say I was punching equal.
Jesus Christ, dude.
You want me to open the fucking phone lines?
Look at two glasses, two sips of wine.
I'm fucking.
I'll give you all my attention.
You know, like, here's the thing on the open announcements.
And someone said a few other people have said, hey, it's not that big of a deal.
It's only three a year.
Just do them.
People really want that.
Yeah.
Once again, it's the chicken scratch.
It's like real.
It's not.
It's not.
But let me just say this.
But like, I get it, but I don't want it.
And, you know, like it's only your fucking job, dude.
I know that's what people say.
But it's a part of my job and I don't need it to be the defining feature of my job.
And honestly, I did it for like since 2011, 12, missed a couple of years.
But like I'm kind of I don't want to just be about that.
And, you know, I could do them all and I could really help my own, my own, you know, um, I hate the word brand,
but help my own fucking brand. And like, but I don't want to make it, I don't want to make that
three week open just about, um, do you think you're not doing it because you're overcompensating?
Cause you don't want to be accused of that. I don't think it's cause I'm over. I just really
like, I liked doing the one and I really liked when I was done.
All right.
And didn't have to do any more of them.
All right.
I'll bug you again as we get close to it.
Again, hey, was Jocko prerecorded?
It was live.
Did it feel live?
It felt live to me.
It was not live.
It was prerecorded.
Why?
Why not just let him do it?
Why not do live?
No, we wanted to, just we couldn't functionally pull that off.
Okay.
He had something going on, so he wanted to prerecord it.
He couldn't get out there.
So we prerecorded it, but the guidance I gave our team was,
let's at least make it look like the pitch is to a live shot of it.
Okay.
It looked live.
That was what the goal was, but it was he pre-recorded it a couple days before.
Was there an internal fight on whether you guys should have me do one of the...
Was there a lot of tension around...
Absolutely.
Did you really think?
That never crossed my mind.
Oh, so this is really what you felt.
You wanted to do one.
How the fuck did they not choose me?
Asymmetric Ears, 99 cents.
Dudes, you got to say something.
You can't just read that you're giving money.
ESC Sounds.
Anyone here know what sort of access
Sevan's getting for behind the scenes this year?
Oh yeah, someone knows.
Let's ask him.
He's here.
Not sure yet.
Not sure.
Okay.
It's a different venue.
It's a different setup.
There's a lot of moving parts. I don't know.
Frank Dubac, I'm still an affiliate thanks to this podcast.
Remind me to send you this dude's kid's Instagram account.
His kids are really young CrossFitters.
Dave, along those lines of getting access, when you were talking to Rich, you said something along the lines of, hey, when Craig Ritchie and Sevan and the Buttery Bros are there, you know what they're going to do.
And we had a meeting.
We had a meeting with your team.
And in that meeting, they're like, hey, what are you going to do?
And they all know what we're going to do.
I'm going to do the behind the scenes.
Craig Ritchie's agent said he's going to do reaction videos and i forget what uh heber was there to represent the buttery bros and he told you what
he was going to do and you were saying so some and then and then there were other people there
who were like partners right with crossfit like um uh mayhem had the campground I think Proven had something HWPO had something and so
because of that affiliation they also got some people to do behind the scenes this year you
alluded to the fact in that conversation with Rich and Rory and Scott that
you're going to defer or that you're going to not defer,
but you're going to sort of demand more on like, Hey,
because of the limited space I'm reading into it. I know,
but because of the, I read into it is because of the limited space,
we're going to need to know what you're going to do.
Like we don't want just people running wild back there.
For sure. We're going to have to have more rules in place,
more understanding of what everyone with a camera is doing down there and approval ahead of time.
with CrossFit when I worked there, uh, I was, I was told not to go on the field. And occasionally I would go on the field. I'd break the rule this year. I never broke the rule this last year,
but something we had done every year that I'd done the, done the behind the scenes is right
when the games are over and you announce the, you know, and the fittest person on earth is
I would run out there right when you were done. i would film with you for like two or three minutes okay and i didn't do that this year and i realized that
afterwards when i got home i'm like fuck that's so lame that i didn't do that just out of practice
i guess out of practice but also because um there was a like when i worked there i was like what is
someone gonna do to me yeah you know what i mean those things are really fucked up what things my my sideburns no your
your your little ear pieces yeah why don't you get a new set you don't want to talk about the
behind the scenes anymore no i i do but it's just something i noticed asymmetric years we are all
anxious to hear how doug's recovery has gone can you ask tdc how she is doing what happened to her
oh she had this growth
on her head that was really fucking
large. I had to take her to the vet and she had to get
it surgically removed.
And so they shaved her head and gave
her like fucking eight or nine stitches.
She looked like Frankenstein for a few
for about two weeks, but she's
better now. Biopsy?
It's not. It's fine. Cancer?
No, it's fine. It's fine. Cancer? No, it's fine.
What's the average life of a dog like that?
Eight or nine. How old is Doug?
Three or four.
Is she slowing down? A little.
I think I'm slowing down.
You definitely are slowing down.
I'm slowing down too. Hey, this is better without the phone lines
open because now people have to give money in order to talk to you.
Caller, hi. You know the phone lines aren't open. What do you want?
Hey, yeah. The fuck do you want?
Yeah, I have the secret phone.
Christ.
Dude, that thing that's flashing, I just got to say, that thing that's flashing on your desk, the lights, you know what I'm talking about?
It's a broadcaster.
It's underneath your monitor.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That's the black magic thing.
Blinking?
Yeah.
You're giving me a stroke, but that's all I wanted to say.
All right.
Great call.
Thank you.
Now Dave's never going to let me come over again.
See, you're breaking the rule.
You're breaking the first rule already.
Don't ever call back again.
We're not breaking the first rule.
Black
John Young. Dave, if you
wouldn't do a pre-recorded one, then
no one else should.
Yeah, I agree. I don't.
I don't agree. I don't agree.
It doesn't have to be how I did it. It can be different.
It can look different. It can feel different. I want to
do them completely
fucking different next year. Every year, I'm like, this is the last time we're going to do it this way let's think
of a different way to do these that's completely outside of the box and let's fucking go on top of
the hill at the ranch with nobody there and have two athletes start on let's just do let's not have
any athletes around let's just do the announcement and then i have some community people turn on i
don't know but please don't do that.
But when we do it different, it's very deliberate and for a reason.
It's because I don't like doing the same thing over and over.
People get comfortable with their routine and people are comfortable with me doing it.
And that's what I'm trying to break.
Like, let's try different ways of doing it.
I swear the phone number's not up.
Call her.
Hi.
Hello.
No, you're doing it because they're paying you.
No, no.
These are people who just have this in their...
Yes.
What the fuck do you mean?
Hello?
Yes.
Hey, Dave, why don't you ever do what he was saying and have like five workouts all lined up and then it gets leaked?
You just immediately pop in for one.
Oh. gets linked like leaked you just immediately pop in for one or if you have like a like a lottery
system here's you know 15 workouts i like once leaked you immediately have another one that you
can come up with great question you don't get to ask it twice thank you uh this guy's saying
that why not have a multiple workouts and so so if one leaks, you just pivot.
I really wish it was that easy.
There's so much behind the scenes in the,
in the tech side of it,
the media side of it.
There's so much that goes like all the graphics.
Yeah.
There's so much,
the rehearsal of the announcement,
the layout of the floor.
Yeah.
It's like,
I actually said about 20 minutes before I said the boss.
I'm like, it's boss and Heather.
I'm like, let's fucking change the workout.
Oh, you did.
Yeah.
And they're like, we can't.
And I'm like, I know, but I had to say it.
Oh, you want another piece of bread?
Yeah.
What about what about this?
Alexis Raptus said that she was talking to you and she was like, I really want the golden barbell.
And you said to her, no, you don't. I saw it. It's shit brown or something like that.
Did you say that to her?
Yeah, I said it's I said something along those lines. Yes.
What? So they they put they posted a golden barbell that was beautiful
you know it it looked non-functional but it was just cool as shit man the garlic smells good
which one do you like better tell people where they can get this at tdcmercantile.com
i've noticed that the seo has picked you up finally has it yeah and look
these are still available oh let me see that did you bring that for me you can have it
i didn't but you can have it tdc mercantile tdc m-e-r-c-a-n-t-I-L-E dot com. So that one has a bottle opener on it.
How about your fucking, um,
how about your video that you're like,
here, I have to open it with one hand,
and then you admit to having it opened ahead of time.
I pre-staged it, but not all the way.
And then when I hit it, I'm like, oh, that came off too easy.
I felt like an idiot.
Hey, this is your best one yet.
Well, the ones I sold, see how that,
see how the button is like a different it's like a coated silver it doesn't match the mat so i'm not selling that exact
pattern right there because it doesn't match the mat um lever snap i don't know oh oh so that one's
not for sale that's why this is a shit one.
Yeah,
yeah,
exactly.
So that doesn't match that.
No one would ever notice that.
I noticed it.
That's what matters.
All right.
You know,
it's funny.
I might use this,
this,
your wife's bread that,
well,
what about it?
That we're just eating carbs on the show that I'm eating it.
God, dude, it's so good.
I know.
How do you say skinny?
I don't know.
Not eating this, that's how.
Yeah, it's crazy.
How many loaves of bread does your wife make a day?
Every few days, not every day.
You know what people, no one knows,
is your wife's been selling bread way longer
than you've been selling olive oil.
Your wife is a purveyor of carbs of carb addicts where do they um can but only local people can buy it right yeah you guys are
fucked hey and and this bread had uh dave's logo burned into the top of it gypsy baker that's the
ig if you if you're local and you want it. Yeah, they're just different.
You can't say which one's better.
If you had to choose to only eat one for this evening, which one would you choose?
Garlic.
Okay.
I would dip into garlic.
You want some salami and cheese?
No, I got plenty.
Jesus Christ.
I'm going to throw up here in a second.
Hey, remember how you asked me how my memberships were doing?
Daniel Jennings.
Thanks, dude.
I really appreciate it.
We were talking about Daniel Jennings, tdcmercantile.com.
That's how you become a member of mine.
Rich.
Oh, okay. Hold on. Mike, Poolboy, thanks again, Dave, for all you do, brother. Rich Oh Okay hold on
Mike Poolboy thanks again Dave for all you do brother
Your video cheered up my girlfriend a ton
She's
Shaving
Cheered up my girlfriend a ton
She's shavings
G major FOMO overseas
During this open season
I don't know that that must be is that
spanish we uh during during during uh 24.1 in pleasonton he was there and at the end of it he
asked if i could do a video for his girl who's in the military and just saying like hey stay strong
keep your head up good luck in the open because she's not here for the open this year yeah i like the picture
yeah she's a marine uh-huh uh braylon tender fitness competitor dave please be careful wine
gives you lady brain i typically so that's funny we typically don't drink wine i typically drink
whiskey but i can drink a glass or two of wine and make it home fine.
I wouldn't want to do this with whiskey.
No, me neither.
I haven't drank wine in forever.
I used to drink a shitload of wine.
Barry McCocken, did you fire the person who leaked the workout?
You're a man of compassion?
Yeah, same. I'm a amount of compassion
but uh
great question Barry
I fucking love you I'm gonna send that money back to you
next question
uh fake leak
uh quarterfinal wads get hillar back get hillar back what i don't understand either um
this is a great question and then we'll go get back to rich hey dave has the idea of multi
streaming on platforms like twitch for open announcements and or the games ever came up
that's really yeah you guys should be streaming to Twitch.
Yeah, I agree.
We should.
I mean, you know, we're working in a reduced capacity.
And we talked about this before, like, you know, the deal.
We have way less staff and people on that team.
So there's a lot less things we can currently do there.
But for sure, we should be doing stuff like that.
So Rich comes down there and you guys,
uh, and you guys have it out.
And is that all sincere and real that we see on there?
Like,
is like from what it looked like,
it was like,
did you guys,
had you guys made up before?
Cause it looked like you made up just right in front of us.
Not that there was ever anything bad,
bad.
Like you guys were going to throw blows,
but how long did you guys talk before you guys went live like that?
Or before you recorded that?
Um, I wouldn't say we had it out we talked we um talked about it obviously we when he showed up i said hello we just had a quick little like standard small talk and um when we went into
the show like when we talked about the topic that's when we talked about the topic so it was oh so
you had it was genuine yeah genuine yeah yeah and both um and it wasn't like i think you asked if
it was real or if it's stage none of it was stage it wasn't like the photo you know you mean a rich
and mad yeah it was this this felt like uh real and genuine and like you know like i said hey
they asked if i'd come up i said yes and then i
realized i wouldn't have the time and to do that while i was in nashville because cookville's about
an hour and a half and then so i said without any serious intent of them actually executing on it
hey why don't you guys come down here and uh and then they said okay and so i already said they
said okay right away like they just knew that they would do it.
Yeah.
I was really surprised by that.
And it was, I respected it and I respect it.
And so they came down and they went into that other gym.
Hey, what about putting behind one, right?
When the open started, right.
When the open started at proven a T2 means beautiful gym.
Is it a beautiful gym?
I've heard it's just amazing.
Yeah,
it's really nice.
Um,
uh,
right before it started,
you turned around and you fit bumps.
Um,
my girl,
Danielle Brandon and my boy,
rich Froning,
you've told them,
Hey,
will you guys stand back there?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I had them staged.
I'm like,
I'm gonna take the two people who are recently talking shit about us and put
them right behind me.
And I'm going to give them both a fist bump
that's awesome
hey what was Danielle's deal
why did she hate the Open
did you ever talk to her about that
I thought the Open was money
I thought it was money
why do the athletes even care
do you know what I mean by that
I think they care
or someone like she cares about her experience and doesn't understand what that experience is for 99.9% of the rest of the world who CrossFit and is in the open and how important it is for them.
And so I think they take their perception of the workout or their thoughts on it, which are real and which, you know, she doesn't like it, whatever. Right. But it really this notion of it wasn't made for her.
It's made for the affiliate owner and their members and the community.
There's there's here's the 100 percent of the pie.
This slice is 0.01%.
That's her and Rich.
And then the 99% of the pie,
everyone else doing the open.
That's who those workouts are made for fundamentally.
And all of that being said,
they're still finding the fittest people.
Look who won the open, Yona Koski.
You know what I mean?
Like these guys have been around for a long time
and it's still this is the
results are the same the lady who won i'm not sure i don't i didn't recognize that name for the
overall for the bet yeah yeah i don't know who i didn't look either here's what i mean by why would
you care it's so obvious you're just going to cruise past this. So why make any opinion on it?
Why have any opinion on it?
And if you do, why express it publicly
or why waste any energy on it?
I mean, that's just the,
that's where we live.
Like think of the fucking shit you say about people.
But I make a living doing it.
So like maybe she thinks she makes a living by doing it.
Maybe she thinks it's her responsibility to say something about it.
Well, I don't think it's my responsibility.
I just do it because it makes money.
And maybe she's doing it because it makes money.
I don't know.
I'm like, hey, point your eyes at this and judge the fuck out of it.
You just made six mil on the open.
How the hell are you short staff?
What the fuck do you do with 50 million in affiliate fees and open fees?
Shit is not as
Cheap to run as you think or assume like there's still a lot of other stages and there's still a lot of other costs and
It's not and that's exactly what people do every year. It's easy to take a look at that and make some gross statements around that,
but not see all the other aspects that feeds or funds or makes happen.
Because I worked at CrossFit, it's crazy to me that anyone thinks that that money
lasts at all for anything I mean just imagine how much the insurance costs for the games just
just think about that for a second and you're you're you're you're buying insurance that would cover no it's just fucking
nuts i i appreciate the question but uh well i know how much i know how wildly expensive the
game's for i want to vote to let seven do the open announcement and can dave unblock me from ig
who said that uh this is the guy who just became a new member daniel jennings let me say this daniel
if i blocked you it wasn't personal but I blocked you, it's because you said something really stupid.
And so like I've blocked thousands of people on my account over the years and people can say
that censorship or whatever. I don't view it as censorship. I view it as a tool to clean out my
backyard or my living room, my living room being my channel. And if I don't want you on there,
uh, cause you say something that's insulting or, um, you know, that fundamentally I think,
uh, shouldn't, you shouldn't continue to be on my site because if you're saying it once
you'll continue to spew nasty or negative shit i don't block people just for being critical
but i blocked in the past i haven't blocked many people recently but i block people who
who are crossing a line and i believe are gonna continue that pattern and so now you know i handle
it now for the most part i just don't even fucking look at the comments i just don't even go in there
and if i do what i mean the comments on your ig yeah my ig specifically the comments obviously
on my youtube i look at but um and so for me to unblock you would be a massive effort because i
well maybe not i was gonna say i have to go down the list to find you and then i think i could
actually just go to your profile and block you from there but um but i don't even know your account so so no i'm not gonna unblock you sorry daniel i tried unless you go to tdc
mercantile.com and make a purchase and i'll unblock you oh can you leave a note when someone
when someone purchases leave but yeah buy some olive oil and leave a note please unblock me dave
everything costs money hey dave um hey i want questions from you i'm trying i'm trying no you're not but i'm
making it harder how do you pick because i'm just a g right my questions are the best no oh i just
want to hear from you um how do you pick the questions when you're on youtube and you make
a week in review how do you pick the questions? I just, so, um, on the YouTube channel, there's a place where you go to like your videos and then
you click on comments and it just shows all the comments and in order to receive. And I just
scroll down them and I'll, I'll look at one and cut and paste and put it on a, on, um, notes and
Apple. And then I'll just pull a bunch of comments and um i don't spend a lot of time
like searching for the right ones i'll skim it and be like okay that's fine or some i'll be like i
don't really want to fucking talk about it so like i know you say it doesn't look like it it looks
like you're like i don't that i don't avoid things i really um if you do avoid things, you should avoid them. I don't do it as much as you would
think. So like, I, there's ones that are not that typically you wouldn't think I'd respond to or
pick, but I pick them. And, um, and then I just put them on a note and then on Apple, on Apple
notes, then I print the page out and then I just go through. And I typically try to choose seven to ten depending on what's going on.
And then I'll have four or five talking points of something that happened the previous week or things I want to address unrelated to the comments.
And are those in your notes too on that note sheet?
Yeah, I put them at the bottom of the notes.
And when do you pull the questions?
How soon before the show?
Oh, fuck. Like five minutes before. Like I sit down at the computer, pull the questions, print the sheet, sit back down at the computer and go.
So like I don't rehearse. It's clear, I think, but I don't rehearse the responses or rehearse any of it.
Do you do you do you practice? No. Tell yourself ahead of time like, hey, don't tell someone to fuck off or stay calm?
No, because I'm pretty measured in general around that stuff.
My reaction isn't going to be tell someone to fuck off.
Especially on a YouTube station, I'm not going to have a problem not staying calm and collected.
You know what I mean?
Does your wife watch it?
No.
Do you get feedback
from anyone no you i know but anyone besides me i mean mine's just like hey thanks i'm getting a
lot of friends co-workers will say send some sometimes send me notes and say what they
thought of it have you been reprimanded by no never been reprimanded have you been um given praise yeah praise? Yeah.
It seems that CrossFit is a very measured
and calculated
company more than ever, to me,
from looking from the outside as opposed to how
we used to be just cowboys, right?
God, I would argue
we were more measured and more calculated back then.
Oh, okay.
We were pretty measured and calculated, and Greg was very calculated.
He was very calculated, but the company was so – everyone was just on the front line, I feel like, pushing forward.
And now I don't feel that as much from CrossFit.
I feel like they're more shelled up in the bunker.
But whatever.
in in the bunker but whatever that being said i'm in awe that the company in its current incarnation has you at the front on this youtube channel talking and there's no
they don't have me doing it they don't have me at the front you can't say me at the front. You can't say it that way.
Right,
right.
Sorry.
Sorry.
So it's not even at the front.
It's not like,
it's like this massive thing where you're getting hundreds of thousands of
views.
I mean,
fuck Craig Ritchie gets fucking five times the amount of uses me and you.
So I'm not,
I'm not suggesting that it's that,
but,
but it's,
I,
it's just,
it's,
it's just fascinating to me that they allow that.
I mean,
it's refreshing.
It's cool to me.
It's an enormous positive.
That's an interesting statement too, that they allow it. Right.'s refreshing it's to me it's an enormous positive that's an interesting statement too that they allow it right i mean it shows some
incredible trust with don i mean i'm let's play a scenario where they didn't allow it what's that
look like meaning what's that look like when they tell me that i can't do that uh hey dave um no
let's not play the scenario but you play out in your mind, knowing me, what's that look like?
Right.
Okay.
What's that?
What happens when I'm told I can't do that?
Sure.
I want to try to still get access to behind the scenes.
I'm gonna keep that to myself.
Uh,
uh,
uh,
wads on me.
That's how I got Dave to read mine.
I timed it.
I time.
Oh,
time.
What?
Oh, interesting.
I think the implication here is that you read,
do you normally just pick the first like seven or the last seven?
It's not like the seven, but like, yeah.
I mean, so he's got a point.
So I go to that page.
I'm going to discourage people from commenting earlier.
From gaming it?
Yeah.
I'm going to discourage people from commenting earlier.
From gaming it?
Yeah.
I will see them in chronological order of most recently posted for sure.
It doesn't mean I picked those first seven. Do you organize them newest first?
So you don't organize them – you organize newest first?
No.
No, I go on – there's a page on your Google where you put –
On your YouTube.
On your YouTube.
You put comments, and it shows comments for all your videos.
Oh, right. In order. Right. Okay, so you don't even go to that specific i don't even go to that specific video i just go to that page and then i start scrolling down and if i see something
that's worth addressing i'll grab it and go but the thing is a lot of times a lot of the comments
are very repetitive in theme or very similar so i have to skip a few of those so i'll skip down
like oh this is the
same thing. They're asking me about Hiller. They're asking me about Hiller. They're asking me
about Hiller. Oh, they're saying this or this. So I'll pick one and then avoid the rest.
When you think about someone like Hiller who's so vocal in the community and who's
making a video every single day, and even even though it's just it's not a it's not a it's not a
lot of people in our cohort but it's just loud right so let's say there's let's say there's just
like the same 30 000 people over and over and over when you address him do you think of the
implications of that of like you recognizing him like what the outcome of that would be like not
in terms of just that you recognize him like okay i I see you I mean, that's how every time you use anytime you say anything to him. That's what I think
I don't even listen so much as what the implications of what you're saying are to him
Just like okay Dave just acknowledged him
You have my toothy and tooth powder on your page
Yeah, you like that. Let's get a little TDC mark mercantile hit um why am I come on?
5,000 a month i just gave you three fucking things of olive oil and i bought a really nice bottle of wine okay i'll put it on for
10 minutes of one show yeah so um anyone anyone you recognize you don't even have to choose him. Me avoiding him or not talking about him would be crystal fucking clear.
And that I was avoiding him and not talking about him to,
to an uncomfortable degree.
Like it would just be weird.
It would be weird.
It'd be really weird.
Cause he's really fucking prominent and prevalent in our space and in our
fucking world right now.
And he has a big audience and he makes content every
single day. And so the fact that I'm going to acknowledge him isn't a surprise to me. It's like,
yeah, he, he, um, he's out there and he's getting, you're out there and you're getting a lot of
attention. He's out there and he's getting a lot of attention and for me to ignore it would be so fucking obvious and fake of me to do that i'm not going to do that yeah there's other people
there's other people who are much smaller that there's no reason to fucking engage with or
highlight and so it's funny um someone why don't you think he's go ahead go ahead someone was
talking about the punching down stuff how i made that comment about like oh yeah yeah i don't you think he's – go ahead. Someone was talking about the punching down stuff, how I made that comment about like –
Oh, yeah.
I don't mean it – I mean when I say punching down, I don't mean it in – I mean it more in terms of like there's some people I'm not going to highlight or bring their piece to the surface because they have such a small following or small reach or um i just happen to see it so
i don't need to bring it out further but someone like rich who has a really big reach it's like
okay he's saying this like i'm gonna step in and i'm gonna uh clean clean that up hillar has a
really big reach hillar has a loud voice i'm gonna talk about his shit do you when you when you
respond to something like rich do you think of the implications or
Are you just like hey, I'm responding because it's what I do. It's how it's or how about another one
But yeah, how about the opt thing when he was on your show, right?
And like that's another one like hey, he has a pretty big reach. He has a big following right? He's a he's a
Respected voice in the community.
And so he basically made a statement about how CrossFit – This was years ago, people.
Years ago.
If you're doing individualized –
No one bring this back up again after Dave talks about it.
If you're doing individualized programming, it's not CrossFit.
And so that was such a ridiculous thing to say that I had to speak out on.
It was actually right before I got fired.
Actually, even some part of me was like, oh, yeah, they can't handle this. So let's, let's, uh, anyways, um, remind me to call
you when you're driving home and ask you the details of that. The, uh, yeah. So that was one
of like, I'm like, okay, we have this guy within our community. A lot of people are going to hear
that people are going to think, um, people are going to think he has that there's some truth to
his statement. so i'm like
i need to get in front of that i need to talk about it so when you do do something like that
let's so so and it's not it's not often no no i agree um but there's there's tens of thousand
people in um the froning camp like diehards right people who appreciate him like his values follow
his program.
I appreciate it.
Yeah. I appreciate everything he's done. And so when you tussle with him,
do you think of the public implications of it? Or are you just like, Hey, I'm just doing me and I'm doing the right things because it's who I am. And I have these values and they're buddying up against
your values. And because you're a big voice and I'm a big voice, we're going to do it.
Or do you think about the implications? Does that make sense to you?
I could explain it a little bit better if you want.
The implications.
Let me say, I'm sorry.
Sorry.
I know you hate when I interview.
Are you concerned about protecting your brand or the CrossFit brand?
Or are you like, fuck you?
I'm just going to do the right thing.
If I would have came at him and said, hey, you're a fucking piece of shit.
You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Then I would have to have those concerns
But for the way that it was handled the way that I chose to handle it. I don't think I crossed that line
You basically just reposted in your story and be like hey, I see you and that was enough to make everything uncomfortable
And like hey, yeah, that's enough like knowledge like hey, we're gonna we're gonna hash this out
Yeah, that was enough to acknowledge like, hey, we're going to hash this out. But I didn't cross any lines of being disrespectful or insulting him.
Right, right. Yeah, that's a really good point. Would you say that honesty is a – what would you say your values are as a, as a person
in regards to what just life,
the way you operate,
the way TDC wakes up in the morning,
rolls out of bed.
Oh,
I don't even know if I define them or like if I,
I just,
i don't even know if i define them or like if i i just
i do want to um set a good example for those i work with and for my family
and that set a good example by working hard by having, by doing the right thing, by defending those who need to be defended, by using my position in terms of where I am at the stage of my life for making a difference
for people. But I'm not as formal as like, here's the thing. Let me put it this way too.
I don't like preaching about leadership or about values or about any of this shit because so many
people already do that. You have all these YouTube guys and Instagram guys who are going to tell you
how to act, tell you what values to live on a day-to-day basis, tell you what good leadership is, what having good ethics means, et cetera,
et cetera.
I don't like to talk about that shit.
I just like to, now I'm good.
I just like to do things in a positive standup way that hopefully influences others.
I looked up the word integrity and it says the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
I think that's good.
And so one of the things I noticed was always like,
why do so many people respect Dave? It's not like he's nice to them.
Like when I worked with you, I'm like, I'm so much fucking nicer than him.
So much fucking nicer to them. I when I work with you, I'm like, I'm so much fucking nicer than him. So much fucking nicer to them.
I'm so like,
if someone,
if someone wants something from me,
I get it done.
I give people everything they want.
How the fuck does he get so much fucking respect?
And then I fucking figured it out.
What was that?
It's because you're just honest.
Like people don't give a fuck about like at the end,
it takes longer to cultivate it.
But at the end of the day, people don't care if you're nice or you're not nice
like good people are drawn to
honesty and so people are
drawn to what you
called it integrity the quality of being honest
and having strong moral principles
next question
I was gonna take it to this
that's what you're Next question. I was going to take it to this.
That's what you're...
So that's one of your values right there.
Just straight integrity.
Yeah.
Honesty.
Who'd you learn that from?
I would say a collective amount of experience over the years through just like even growing up from my father to a certain degree definitely influenced by my time in the
seal teams um were you ever nice were you ever a nice person i think i'm a nice person now you know what i mean
yeah no i don't know what you mean then like like you defaulted to nice i default nice now
no no you don't default nice you default to integrity um like were you ever were you ever
like as a kid like were you like, I'd rather be nice than be honest?
Compromise your integrity for kindness.
Oof, that's a good question.
I mean, that was my, that was my whole life until I met you. Like, you and my wife, like, really, like, like, drilled that into me.
Don't compromise your integrity for being nice.
Like this, someone wants to, like, just simple. I'll give you a superficial example.
Someone on your team wants to do something.
Like they want a new camera.
And I would fucking like be like, okay, I got to get them the camera instead of just be honest with them.
Like, no, dude, what the fuck?
Work with the camera that you have.
Yeah.
And then, and then, and then you're basically you're setting them free.
They know the door is closed and then they can be free and run with it.
But I'm like, hey, I got to get them what they want so that they'll like me let me go back to answering this
question so obviously the seal team's influenced uh honestly greg did too an intellectual integrity
like there's a lot i learned from him in that regard uh and a uh desire and rigor to question things and to question what's what truth is.
Like by defining things. Yeah, that's a big part of it.
Isn't that isn't that interesting? The level one. I mean, that's what the whole level one is,
right? It's just it's defining terms. Yep. That's kind of like the big picture byproduct that people don't even know that they're getting from that right they're getting
you're you're learning about crossfit but you're also learning level one is fundamentally the
foundation of his current broken science journey it's like the what foundation or or a museum
quality specimen if you use it's like that here's his pyramid of his broken science effort it's at the
base of the pyramid right right all of it everything he did in crossfit led to this and as i've said
before he you know the last few years you know this as well as i do he was already focused on
this the efforts he's doing now even he'd moved on from fitness and um but his all his all the stuff he did with fitness and
in crossfit was it was taking him to this moment um you were with greg before i was and you have a
very uh um of i don't know what the word is. It's the opposite of nuance.
Anyway, you have a very connected relationship, right?
Years and years.
You guys have 20 years of connection.
And where you guys work very closely together in the same realm, right?
Like, hey, we're pushing this thing forward.
So when he does this broken science stuff,
like this most recent one, and you're not there,
do you feel like you're missing out at all?
Or do you feel like you're, is that weird for you?
I think it's weird for both of us.
You know, we both talk to each other multiple times before and multiple times afterwards.
And just like, hey, you know, really wish you were here.
And I do wish I was there.
Like he invited you a half dozen times is what you're saying.
Yeah.
And even afterwards, he called and said, hey, really would have liked to have had you there.
Because we were doing stuff like that together for so long.
And so almost two decades.
So anytime he's going to have a gathering of people and anytime he did have a gathering of people, like I was one of the people who'd lean on to help make that gathering of people happen or effective or, or run smoothly.
So, um, and, and a majority of his call it seminal moments with, um, events like that I've been at.
I've been at so it was um I mean it's it's not like the end of the world that I'm not there for either of us what the fuck is that are those those toe things but yeah toe spacers but it's
sentimentally weird yeah yeah sentimentally weird these are the toe spacers here's my crossfit
credit card that I uh I never took the sticker off of. Oh, that's awesome.
They still look the same.
And here's my, I showed you this last time.
This is for taking poop samples.
Hey, Dave, the quarterfinals are coming.
And I'm going to have Colton Mertens, Dallin Pepper, Jason Hopper, and Taylor Self all do the workouts. workouts and there was a concern when i first and we're going to do them live like six days in a row
and we're going to have these like live events like open events but they're going to be live
and they're going to compete against each other and it's called the seven podcast taylor self
versus the world invitational and we will qualify people through my invitational to go to the games that's the kind of oh geez you like that many um there was concern amongst
the athletes that not these guys but there was some discussion of it that you don't want to show
people yourself doing the quarterfinal workouts because that then people will alter their that
people will see you doing them and they'll change how they do them right that
basically we're going to get people are going to see their scores and people can adjust their shit
you think that that's a significant thing or it doesn't matter with guys at this level colton
jason dallin taylor both i think people do think that and i do think it's it's true right yeah it's
true people don't want to put their shit out people don't want people to get a strategy off
of someone but i also think at this level um at the end of the day it's not going to make too much of a difference
it might move you a few places but these guys are going to still qualify for the semifinals
yeah basically if you were to describe the difference between some uh quarterfinals and
the open the kinds of workouts could you do that for me ask that question again
what's the difference between an open workout and a quarterfinal workout i know that's crazy broad
the quarterfinal workouts are going to be a little more stout obviously because they're
they're tests that are made for a different level of athlete and so now we're trying to
determine who's going to go to semifinals.
So they're going to be a little more aggressive in the programming,
I would say.
Still, people will be able to, everyone in the 25 will be able to play.
But there's going to be points where playing might be hard.
So a simple example would be heavier.
You could assume.
Wall balls might be higher, throw them further or be heavier.
Or is that not quite yet?
I don't think at this stage.
I don't think at many stages they need to be higher or heavier.
I think every now and then you can go higher and heavier.
But you don't always need to go higher and heavier just at the more advanced levels.
The negative handstand pushups might just be regular and not negative.
You're really busy today.
I am.
Is it because I'm not engaging you well in the conversation?
No, I'm engaged. Keep going.
I mean, I know you're engaged.
Daniel Garrity.
Fine, if you're going to disengage.
Will Daniel Brandon approve the quarterfinal workout? You can text on my show. uh daniel garrity fine if you're gonna disengage uh well daniel brand disengage well daniel brandon
approved the quarterfinal workout you can text on my show i don't give two fucks you clearly do
i don't you clearly do um i don't know and i don't care good great answer
i've been building up to this okay are going to make a full leather bodysuit?
No.
The Bible.
How's the Bible going?
Oh, man.
Before you start, for people who don't know, really, I'm going to pour myself another glass of wine.
When did you start reading the Bible?
Why?
And how long do you plan on taking reading it before we get into what you've uncovered?
January 1.
And basically for about five or six years now, I've been telling
myself, okay, I'm going to read the Bible front to back. And, um, I was each year I pushed it off.
And, um, finally this year I'm like, okay, this is going to be the year that I read the Bible.
And also I'm going to read the book of Quran. I'm sorry, the book of Mormon and, uh, and the Quran.
and the Quran. And so I'm going to read a few other religious texts. But with this,
started on January 1, before going in, even the journey to determine which version of Bible I was going to read was a big undertaking. I went into Barnes and Nobles and just started looking at the
Bibles. And I was like, oh man, there's a ton of different versions you asked some chick with blue hair and 35 piercings in her ears
what a bible would you recommend do they even sell the bible in santa cruz it seems there's
no well i went to barnes and nobles and gilright and so there's a whole section section of bibles
and then there's all these different three-letter acronym bibles, KSG, NIV, what else?
HIV.
And so I actually looked at all the Bibles and said, okay, I need to head home and research.
And did a little Google search on the different versions.
And so, for example—
Did you call Rich?
No.
But he actually texted and said he would help me if I had any questions.
Did you call Rich?
No, but he actually texted and said he would help me if I had any questions.
KGB, King James Bible, KGV.
I don't know what it is.
KJV or KJB, King James Version.
It's more of a classic old school translation.
And then NIV, which is new.
And there's a bunch of other ones, but I'm just saying these two because I remember them right away. NIV is New International Version. And so it's a more modern translation and easier to read and understand. So I'm like, that's what I'm looking for.
and started on Jan 1. And so this too, I read a lot of books and I read quickly.
It's not that I'm a fast reader. It's just that I'm a disciplined reader. I'll read a lot. And so typically when I'm in a good flow, I could read 50 to 70 pages a day.
Here with this, I said, okay, I can't do that with the Bible. I need to really just slow down and take my
time. And so I have done that. I've slowed my reading down and just trying to understand it
more. I also have a couple like companions that I'll read a book or a chapter, and then I'll read
it in another version to try to understand it a little more. And so I'm a little more than halfway
through. I think at this point, this NIV version is about 1300 pages. It includes the Old Testament
and the new stuff. So, or the newer stuff. So I'm about halfway through enjoying it. I also,
the reason I did this, and here's why um you know i was raised catholic but very loosely
we didn't you know we went to san juan batista we went to the mission san juan batista on easter
and like and on christmas eve like that was the extent of of how much we were um practicing
catholics but i how come how come how come i i get sage makes fun of me whenever i say how come, how come, how come I get Sage makes fun of me whenever I say, how come, how come at your mom's funeral, all the people doing the church service were black.
If you went to a Catholic church.
Well, my brother, he's a, he's not, he's not Catholic anymore.
That was, that was a Christian. He goes to, that was an. That was an amazing funeral there in the barn.
Yeah, that was good.
That was wild.
You had the Hells Angels in the back.
You had the – that was great.
So the reason why I wanted to read the Bible and go down this route is –
Were they Catholic, those people?
No, they're not Catholic,
like more traditional.
Okay.
All right.
Um,
so your brother goes to a black church.
I don't know what church you guys do.
Okay.
Um,
where was I going with that?
You got me all messed up now.
No,
it's the third glass of wine.
I haven't had three.
You've had three.
I'm still working on the first.
So,
Oh yeah.
Cause so all these,
like I like to read a lot of classics and
a lot of fiction from back in the day and um there's so many of them reference the bible or
are influenced by the bible like you look at um seinbeck's east of eden and that story is
completely from the bible and there's a lot of other books like that And there's a lot of other books like that. And there's a lot of other characters and there's a lot of themes.
And I felt at times I would understand
and hear that later about the book,
but didn't connect it or relate it right away.
And so I was like, all right, I need to,
because I enjoy this style of reading
and I enjoy reading these classics.
And all those classics, these books that are,
you know, several hundred years old, literally in some cases, or hundreds of years old, they've truly, they're classics for a reason and have survived the test of time in a magnificent way.
And so these books are amazing and they really are powerful.
And they're a journey into, they're a history lesson.
They're a lesson in in morality even they're just like
there's so much to take from a lot of these books and so to understand them better i decided to read
the bible and to understand its stories because arguably it's the most one of the most significant
pieces ever written and so it does inspire and influence a lot of those other books. So that's why I took
this journey and started reading the Bible. Has it already brought depth to those when you
read, when you recount those books, like, are you reading the Bible and you're like, oh shit,
that's why so-and-so said this. Oh, that's why so-and-so said this.
Yeah, for sure. I'm starting to understand the stories they were talking about better
and the moments and just, um,
and where people have plagiarized and borrowed characters.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yep.
So,
um,
really enjoying it.
I've had a few cool moments with it.
Like I talked about the other day on my weekend review where,
um,
coming back from the open,
even prior to that,
just what did you read specifically?
Do you remember what you were reading that made you feel better?
And would you go back and read it to do like a test?
What was I reading?
Was it, sorry, put my nose on that.
You can do it.
I don't remember what book it was exactly.
What was it?
No, but I probably, I have it marked.
I probably should and could go back to it.
I'm also not, I will say this, when I finish the Bible, I'm not done reading about it or learning more because obviously once through is not going to make you, is going to give you a surface level understanding of it. So I will continue this journey to some degree of,
of studying and educating and learning more about it.
The other moment I had in it too,
that was pretty powerful for me at least was,
hold on one second.
Daniel Garrity,
please take my comment down.
Hi,
Danielle and Dave.
I can't, I can't take your comment down. I can't take my comment down. Hi, Danielle and Dave.
I can't take your comment down.
I can't take a comment down.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh. Oh.
Listen, there's no Caleb.
There's just two dudes drinking wine.
What are you going to do?
Okay, second powerful moment with the Bible.
How about all the people reaching out to you who are like, listen, Dave, you must have thousands.
A lot of people have offered to help.
A lot of people have offered to help.
How about when you need to mow your lawn or you're like, hey,
my fucking 60 acres are completely overgrown.
People aren't coming out of the woodwork to be like, hey, I'll come over with
my weed whacker. But you're like, hey,
I could really use help there. Hey, listen, that's how
fucked up you guys are, just so you know. Listen,
you want to teach someone the Bible?
When they need help
with their yard you come over there and weed whack their yard and you fucking give them some john 3
16s and shit you don't wait till they're reading the bible and then be like hey i'm gonna get over
there and fucking brainwash you like i got brainwashed go ahead you um you don't want to
well let me rephrase let me see i think i want to ask or say that you're reading the Bible and people are sending me
fucking DMS every single day.
Hey,
Sebi,
here's the Bible on a daily basis.
You want to join Dave?
I'm like,
shut the fuck up.
I mean,
I'm like,
Oh no,
thank you for wanting me to be safe.
Are you liking it?
Do you think you're being moved?
Would you consider being moved?
I do like it.
I've been enjoying this journey.
Um,
I don't know what it is.
How do I say this?
You think you're destined to be like,
you think like you'll be Reverend Dave someday?
No.
Oh.
I don't know what it's going to mean for me at the end of this.
I'll say that much.
Wow.
It's pretty cool that you're publicly reading, that you're publicly doing this.
Like just all your shit.
I mean, this is kind of vulnerable.
I don't think I'm publicly doing it, but because again, once again, because of the week in review.
That's what I mean.
You know, I talk about these things.
And so I'm a little open with the journey.
Gotcha.
Did you just pick your shit's all fucked up now.
Look at your.
What?
Pull the mic towards you a little bit.
Relax.
There you go.
Okay.
I want to know.
Oh, I want to know how Jesus had an extra 14 mil laying around for some SB commercials.
What are SB commercials?
Super Bowl commercials.
God, I love the Super Bowl commercials.
I will say this.
The Jesus ones are my favorite ones.
I'm not even religious.
I love all the Jesus stuff.
I like Christians.
I can read the Bible.
And I can read the Bible. And I can read the communist manifesto.
And that doesn't mean I'm a Christian and it doesn't mean I'm a communist.
But you're being moved by the,
um,
but my point is like,
so I don't think it's,
uh,
um,
you're not reading mind compliment.
Like let's get the Jews.
Yeah,
exactly.
But you are being moved by the Bible.
I am being moved by the bible i am being
moved by it for sure yeah the the moments that i've the the it's a powerful book and it's a
powerful book for a reason and i'll say that you know it's like clearly um influenced millions
hundreds of millions maybe even billions of people throughout history. And so to not read it and not feel some of that or not relate to some of that,
I'd be lying if I said I didn't.
Previously, you'd said Gone with the Wind was like the greatest book you ever read, right?
Yeah.
I still think it's number one on my classics.
This is something totally different.
Yeah, it's totally different.
It's not about being good or bad no is it a good book i think it's a great book it is i don't remember
it being good i remember being like dude get to the fucking point i know but like i don't need
all this shit like just tell me this when did you read it i listened to it on audio tape like it was
100 audio tapes and i listened to it like in like 1999 or something okay did you ever read of mice and men no i saw the play okay i think you told me
to go see the play maybe in san diego or something probably but i was gonna say like i say that
because people like yeah i read it as a kid and i thought it was cool or whatever and like my
statement to that is read it as an adult.
And you'll see how powerful it really is.
And so there's a lot of the reading that adults have done was forced in high school of classics specifically.
Or even of the Bible was because they had to at a different stage in their life.
And so at that stage in your life, your thoughts on that book are one thing because of that stage of life that you're in.
But reading some of these things as an adult,
it's way different and arguably way more powerful.
Who are you processing it with, just yourself?
Yeah, nobody.
And then what companions are you using?
I don't know the name.
I have two books.
I don't even know what they're called.
Do you feel like they're manipulative um what do you mean you know like it's like he's like uh like it's you read
something in the bible and it's like what god's really saying is this you know like listen yeah
but i don't do that meaning like i'm not like i know what i'm reading and i know what the intent
of all this stuff is and i'm not fighting it like i'm not saying of course know what I'm reading and I know what the intent of all this stuff is, and I'm not fighting it.
I'm not saying, of course, it's trying to, I don't want to say convert or try to, of course, it's speaking to you as if you're a devout Christian.
Oh, it is speaking.
Okay.
I think so. Okay. I think so.
Especially the companions.
Oh, I thought the companions
would be the opposite. The companions would be
trying to convert you or
convince you.
Whereas the Bible would just be like, hey, here's the story.
But the repetitiveness
of the message in the Bible for the themes is enough to do
that.
Okay.
You think the,
the Bible influenced your workouts?
Like you'd be like,
John three 16 was my favorite.
We're doing fuck this.
Uh,
that's not a bad idea.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's not a bad idea.
Instead of this,
uh,
what,
what's the scheme we use?
Uh,
no. Uh, what's, uh bad idea. Instead of this, what's the scheme we use? Fibonacci. No. What's…
You had the NES.
Oh, you think Greg was religious? That's why Fran is the way it is. What's Fran?
2159.
Yeah.
Is that what you're asking?
One more glass of wine. I'll forget. I'll start calling her Francie.
Yeah. Wow. I wonder if Greg was influenced by the Bible. 2159.
Yeah. I wonder if you'll start changing the numbers based on your favorite.
It's not a bad idea.
Yeah.
I dare you.
I dare you to fucking call one of the workouts at the games,
something after the Bible.
Hey,
even crazier.
Do pick a verse out of the Bible for one workout,
Quran,
the other,
and like picks it,
whatever.
Oh shit. Bye-bye.
Good idea.
What about another games book?
Oh, yeah.
Every year I think about doing that, but I never do.
But what about this year?
Probably won't.
I probably should.
And why do you say that? I don't know. Lazy? I'm lazy? No, why do you't i probably should and why do you want and why do you say that i don't know
lazy i'm lazy no why do you think you probably should oh because it was it was um what a shitty
mic it was you deserve better the journey and effort was really rewarding and i've learned a lot from it uh it was a lot of work it was a lot of
discipline to do that um for me and i that's kind of why i'm afraid of doing it again it just took
a lot of time every time i like doing fran you got scarred every time i'd program or do anything
related to the games i'd then go spend half an hour to an hour writing about it.
And so like it was double the work.
So whatever went into programming or that year was doubled.
Right.
What's the deal with the army?
How's that project going?
It's going great.
We are growing.
I think not.
I think,
let me say we have new divisions or new elements we're working with and we're
trying to grow it more across the army and across other groups.
So that's been,
um,
it's been a really cool project just to kind of bring me back to working with
people I've worked with before and my military roots and hopefully,
and,
and seeing the difference it makes with these soldiers
and the impact it has on our fighting forces is powerful and it's something obviously that i'm
close to so is there an end date when the contract is up and you'll well we had we've we
we uh finished last year's contract and we're on to new contracts now
oh any anything coming out of the army i know a lot of guys ask me. Hey, i'm not in the army. Can I do it?
Say that again. I know other people outside of the army want the same options That the army gets the army guys can just be like, hey i'm taking my I know there's a couple i'm conflating things here
You guys are doing the one-day course for thousands of people
Thousands of troops who are in the army and they do that through cross through crossfit
But also I think there's also a program that the army has that you can take your level one and they'll pay for it.
There's tons of people outside of the Army who will DM me, hey, when are they going to fucking do this for people outside the Army?
I mean, I know it's not up to you, but when's the government going to get with the bandwagon?
So that was Army Ignited is what you're talking about.
I don't think there's other services that are doing it.
Why not? Why wouldn't the Navy do it? You're a Navy guy. Can't you just call someone? I don't think they's other service or other services that are doing it. Why not? Why wouldn't the Navy do it?
You're a Navy guy.
Can't you just call someone?
I don't think they have the same program.
They have money.
I wish it was that easy.
Right.
Two more questions.
Trip to Dickies.
What's up with Brooke Wells?
Is Brooke Wells injured?
Yeah, I think she has something going on.
I didn't watch your video.
Did you?
No. She put out a video about it but but uh i just saw that she her and tia how bad is tia's injury so when i talked to t at the monday before the open announcement right and she's like hey i
have this issue with my wrist i don't know if i'm able to perform well on the open um you know what
do you think I should do?
Should I do it or not? And I'm like, well, what can't you do right now? And she's like, well,
I have trouble doing pull-ups and muscle-ups and I have trouble front squatting. And by the end of
the call, I was like, okay, you should probably not do the workout. Let's just sit out and we'll
find a replacement. So I called Brooke. She was the first person I called and said,
Hey,
do you want to do the open?
And she's like,
Hey,
I have this issue going on with my shoulder and I don't know if I'll be
able to.
Second person you called,
you called Danielle Brandon first,
right?
No,
no.
Okay.
No,
she didn't get the call.
All right.
And so called Brooke and,
um,
she couldn't,
she didn't want to,
it's again,
it's not that they couldn't do it,
but they didn't want to put themselves out there in an environment where they're not going to perform to the level that they're able to perform.
And what's wrong with her?
Did she did Brooke Wells tell you something with her shoulder?
OK, not her elbow.
Or maybe I think it you're a fucking complete moron to ask Tia Toomey to perform on a big stage like that when she's not 100%.
Well, I didn't.
But some people think she should have done it anyway.
No, yeah, that's dumb.
Fucking retarded, right?
Yeah.
A complete disrespect to her craft.
Are you going somewhere you're cleaning out why
what's up what's going on i'm listening keep talking i like your case is that leather
which one your uh airpods case no it's it's plastic
all right that's it i'm done uh there's people uh oh what about this what about this let me ask you this this is completely
self-serving i'm normally just such a humble monk so please let me
i respect the fact that can you lean back
i don't have enough camera angles to thank you or any way you want but just back there um there's
there i respect the
fact that uh athletes have told me that they won't come on this podcast like i'll be like hey can you
come on this podcast and they'll text me and be like hey dude i can't come on this podcast because
my grandmother doesn't like how much you swear or another athlete told me hey i just don't like how
i don't want to be involved in any controversy i fucking respect that but an athlete told me
and i an athlete told me hey i'm not going to come
on your podcast because i don't want to be i don't want to come on on podcast with anyone who's
friends with andrew hiller who's associated with andrew hiller and i said okay all of those things
i respect that's cool that's fine like total like everyone should have, like you, there should be reasons you want to come on a podcast or reasons you don't.
Okay.
Where's it going?
I don't think like,
I think that those people are hurting themselves.
I don't think people come on this podcast and like shit sticks to them.
Like,
like let's say,
let's say half the CrossFit community hates me.
And then you come on this podcast.
I don't think that shit sticks on you.
Like people aren't like you piece of shit.
Why did you go on there with someone?
I think people walk away.
The vast, vast majority of them have been like, wow, that was a great podcast.
Too bad Seveland won't shut the fuck up about other things he talks about.
And then do you know what I mean?
People definitely say that.
People definitely say, why did you go on that?
Oh, they do?
For sure.
Okay.
All right.
For sure.
Okay.
I think what you're saying people feel is not a surprise to me or should be to you.
No, it's not a surprise to me, but I just feel like when people come on this podcast and they leave, I feel like it's always a net gain for them.
Yes. I'm not doing it for a gain.
I know you're not doing it for a gain, but what I'm saying is, is like, I'm not going to go somewhere that's a net negative for me.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, I'm not going to I'm not going to go sit in a bar where that's filled with cigarette smoke.
And then I leave and it's in there.
And like, I got injured.
I like if you're not coming.
I honestly think that if you're not coming on this podcast, you're fucking hurting yourself.
Like, who cares?
You're not going to you're not going you're not gonna come on here i think
it's hard for me to say okay fine you have to think that you have to think that if you're not
coming on here it's hurting yourself i think people cannot come on here and be completely fine
i totally agree too i totally agree too but to not come on here
i think that you're hurting yourself more than you're hurting me.
If your goal, because I can see it.
The people who aren't coming on, ironically, are the clout chasers.
Sure.
They're the clout shapers, follower chasers.
And I'm thinking to myself, well, dude, this.
If you care about that stuff and you're in this community, yes, you should probably come on this podcast.
Right. you're in this community yes you should probably come on this podcast right but there's something
way more uh influencing to them to keep them off something way more like in terms of their ego
their own ego might not be their ego it might be their fear of you and what you know lumped in with
no yeah no what do you mean okay well i You appreciate we're going to cut me off?
No, no.
I thank you very much for coming.
Get the fuck out.
Thank you for the wine.
I'm just saying it's hard for me to say
without sounding like a complete braggadocious douchebag, right?
But if you come on here
and your fan base isn't going to be like,
hey, you're a fucking idiot for coming on here
versus the benefits that it's going to give you.
And I'm not going to play gotcha with you,
and I'm not going to fuck with you,
and I'm going to elevate you.
And I just wonder, like, I don't care that they don't come on,
but I'm thinking to myself, who do they think that they're,
if the goal is to,
the people who don't care about their brand as much,
the people who are just like hey i just want
to be myself they come on the people who care about their brand are the ones not coming on
i feel like and yet it's only hurting their brand by not coming on and so i'm just like i i'm just
i just have a struggle processing it sometimes i think you just struggle with people saying no to
you well that's true because i because I always want to get my way.
No, because you think, like, why wouldn't you do this?
Yeah.
Well, that too.
You think, like, what's...
Give it to me, Dave.
Give me the truth.
How you think, how bad is it that you can't come on this show?
What have I done that's been so over the line that you can't join me on this show.
Well, no, I know what that is.
I know what I've done.
But I just don't think it's going to stick to you.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, I mean, I agree.
Do you know what I mean?
It's the same thing with...
Like the jackass shit I've done does not stick to you when you come on here.
Let me rephrase it.
The jackass shit you do isn't a representation of me. And the jackass shit you do isn't a representation of me and the
jackass shit you do just by me being on this doesn't mean and people will argue this that i
endorse that of you right so and people have a disconnect people can't don't understand that
people don't understand that hey i can come on this show and that does not mean I endorse fucking everything you do
or even 50% of what you do.
Right.
I can come on this show
and disagree with a lot of your positions
and thoughts and way of talking to people
or talking about people.
And it isn't a representation.
It doesn't mean that's how I am
or it doesn't mean that's how.
And same thing.
You could have people on your show that
you disagree with and that you don't
like how they
do things or agree with how they
do things those are my favorite people to have on
sometimes you
don't want them on not true
tell me who
nevermind don't
tell me I got an example.
Text me.
Text me.
Dave, thanks for coming.
Yep.
Thank you.
Everyone, I apologize.
I would have let you guys call in.
That was a Dave Castor request.
A deferral responsibility to him getting his DMs.
Talk to you guys later.
Bye-bye.
