Does it bother you that Abby has more muscles than you? That's not even true. You are very, very fit. I don't have more muscles than you.
Starting point is 00:01:13 I think your calf muscles might be bigger than my calf muscles. Did you combine your finances once you got married, pros and cons? What would be the purpose to itemize like that? Cause like when you get married, you're gonna be together for the rest of your life That just seems like a logistical nightmare. What is your favorite feature about each other? I think you have really pretty hair
Starting point is 00:01:31 Thank you. It looks really good. It's big. Yeah I'm Harry. I thought this question was super interesting baby names you liked but didn't use I'm scared to say those because then we might actually use it. We cannot gatekeep baby names. Yeah, we can't gatekeep You know what name I really like recently? I like the name What's up dudes and welcome back to the unplanned podcast That's amazing I don't know if you can tell but we are in a freaking studio. This is so
Starting point is 00:02:01 Surreal honestly, like it feels so fancy. I know. Abby just saw this for the first time today. We've been working on this for months and we're really excited about it. It's fancy, but it also feels like home, which like you guys nailed it. Like you got a little kid's corner over here.
Starting point is 00:02:18 We got the, I don't know, just like all the family elephant elements. The family elephants, we got all those. We should get some elephants. Should we tell them about? Wait, do you know the vision for the design? Like what it's supposed to entail? Yeah, it's supposed to be like your family's living room. We'll have to bring our kids to the studio. Sometimes they can like play in the kids corner. It's kind of cute. Oh my gosh. I love it. The little blocks. We could not be here if it weren't for you all. So we just first and foremost wanted
Starting point is 00:02:41 to thank you for listening each and every week to our show. This is crazy We are so so excited to announce that we have a studio You've probably noticed we keep getting some really cool guests on our show And so we thought man we need to we need to like have a legit studio rather than just like recording in our in our living Room and so that is that is what this is And so we're probably gonna see a lot more, you will be seeing a lot more of us in this space going forward.
Starting point is 00:03:09 It's just so surreal that people listen to a long podcast of us just like talking. And so when I meet those of you that listen regularly in person, it's first of all, so humbling and like, thank you, but also I'm like, we're automatically friends to a certain degree because Like you know me really well I know we felt like we're gonna have a lot to chat about or probably a lot in common
Starting point is 00:03:32 Especially when other moms come up to me and talk about you know, we have so much shared Experience it's it's awesome. I mean that is the crazy part you guys like we are we're very vulnerable on here if you can't tell like we're very open and honest about our life. And it's been really cool when we get to meet people that it's helping them in some way. Like that makes me so happy, because if there's anything you gather from this podcast, I hope it helps you.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I hope it makes your life better. I hope you laugh. I hope that's some of the stupid stuff we say or do, makes you laugh. Abby, what are you thankful for today? Anything on your mind? I'm thankful for plans. I'm the type of person that I don't like sitting around.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I don't like, I don't know. I need to leave my house. I go crazy. We have so many fun plans coming up, so I feel thankful for that. And even just simple things like getting dinner with our friends. Like we had two dinner parties this week already. Like that's my favorite thing. I love like having that to look forward to at the end of the day
Starting point is 00:04:28 where our kids can play together and they can get out of the house and do something fun. And then us adults, parents, I just like love friends. I agree. I need friends. There's something about when you're a parent having friends that are also parents because you just can relate on such a deep level. I feel like there's a level of grace extended. Yeah. Whereas like
Starting point is 00:04:49 before we were parents we might get more annoyed with people being late or maybe not us in particular because we were always late but like in general people would be like expecting you to be on time or like have your ish together and you're like as a parent you kind of know you're always flying by the seat of your pants and we might forget a diaper But they have extra diapers or they have like the little baby plates and the packets You know they have everything the high chair Whereas like if we were to show up at someone's like newlyweds house with nothing they'd be like there's a lot of hazards here There's a lot of corners. There's a lot of things that they're gonna rip off through your walls like and
Starting point is 00:05:24 Yeah, I think that parents just, they have a common ground there. We happen to have friends that have dogs too, and our oldest is just obsessed with dogs. So I love how last night at our friend's house, he was just chasing their dog around the room. And then when our youngest, Augie, was eating his dinner, he got blueberries all over the floor,
Starting point is 00:05:44 and then the dog just came over and ate it up. I know they're like, how do you do this? You guys have to vacuum right now. I'm like, yeah, it's a pain. Does it ever make you want to get a dog? We will revisit this conversation I feel like quarterly. I feel like that's a big question. Well, you know, I feel bad because I kind of said that we were gonna get a dog like two and a half years ago and then we found out like the next day that we were gonna get a dog like two and a half years ago and then we found out like the next day that we were pregnant. But I really do think one day the dog thing will happen.
Starting point is 00:06:10 It's just a matter, it's more of a matter of when, not if. Yeah, so weird. I feel like I keep wanting it less and less. Really? I want a dog eventually for our kids because Griffin is obsessed with dogs. He talks about dogs every single day. He wakes up he's like, dogs poop. He thinks it's so cool that dogs poop and he says woo woo, dogs. And he, all of everyone that we know that has dogs he always brings it up and talks about it to me. But the more I'm like I don't
Starting point is 00:06:39 know if I need another living thing to take care of. You know it kind of makes me sad now that you brought up the dogs Griffin used to call horses dogs, and now he's gotten so grown up that he doesn't Yeah, and he doesn't even call them names he could it was dogs He'd go woof woof cuz he thought the horse was like a really big dog and now he just calls them horse Which is also cute. It is cute. He's just grown up so much. You know what he's been saying a lot recently too? What? Today I was talking with him and he goes,
Starting point is 00:07:09 Chicken fries? What have we done? Did he want chicken? He wants Chick-fil-A! Yeah, he wants Chick-fil-A. That's what it is! He wants Chick-fil-A. Chicken fries? And I'm like, you want chicken and fries?
Starting point is 00:07:23 He goes, yeah. We've taken him to the Chick-fil-A play place one too many times he loves that he loves that many times that's the thing he just remembers so like he has such a good memory now he brings things up all the time that he like pairs together like my dad and popcorn like he doesn't really have popcorn but my dad gave him popcorn one time he's like gah popcorn I, popcorn? I'm like, oh my gosh. Isn't that the most genius marketing strategy by fast food places to have a play place?
Starting point is 00:07:50 No, it's incredible. So smart because then you hook the kids on the chicken and fries from the age of two. As a parent, I'm happy because we have an easy meal and air conditioning and a way for them to blow off steam. I'm like, this is perfect. One of my fondest memories as a kid is going to Mickey D's with my grandma. And would take me and my brothers. We got mighty meals
Starting point is 00:08:08 because you could get more chicken nuggets with the mighty meal and I would get barbecue dipping sauce and then like McDonald's had this big push to be healthy. So then they started doing the Apple dippers. Yeah. Now they give you both. I think you get, you get both. I think you have to get both. Okay. Or maybe you can get double fries if you don't want it. I don't know, I do give you both. I don't know. I haven't gotten him a Happy Meal ever. The nostalgia in those play places is real.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I feel like the McDonald's ones are kind of- I climbed in it until I realized that the parents weren't supposed to go in there. Wait, what? What was this? I've been in there a few times with him. Really? I go up there to the top. I'm pretty sure those are like five and under. Yeah, they are. I'm probably exceeding the weight limit also.
Starting point is 00:08:46 How funny would that have been if you would have collapsed the whole thing? Oh my gosh. I feel like it would have been an episode of That's So Raven. They're like in the tunnels. They're like, Chelsea, we're stuck. Like it's stuck where it breaks down. Like that'd be so funny. I miss old Disney.
Starting point is 00:09:02 I don't even know what's on Disney Channel these days. Isn't it Disney XD or was that like 10 years be so funny. I miss old Disney. I don't even know what's on Disney Channel these days. Isn't it Disney XD or is that like 10 years ago? That was probably 20 years ago. Okay, yeah, we are old. Disney XD? That's like a new thing, right? Disney XD. It's been a long time. Maybe that was the new thing like when we couldn't afford cable anymore when I was a kid. I think Disney XD was like the new thing. So I don't know if that's probably old. cable anymore when I was a kid. I think Disney XD was like the new thing. So I don't know if that's probably old now. That's when you tuned out. Yeah. Like in my brain, that's still the new cool thing. That's the cool thing. You know what? I was getting my nails
Starting point is 00:09:31 done the other day and in the salon, they're playing Fear Factor. What? That's like early 2000s, I'm pretty sure. Oh, like on TV. I thought you were saying like the salon ladies were just playing like a fun, like a fun little game of Fear Factor. Like I dare you to eat this cockroach. What is your brain? I don't know. That's what they were doing. They were eating, no they were catching cockroaches and they were eating spiders and then Matt, I make sure you want to watch it with you. We should watch Fear Factor but get this Matt, the couples were competing and the person at the very end gets ten thousand dollars and it's a couple they're splitting it. I think it's ten thousand. They're splitting that and then it's getting taxed probably 15%.
Starting point is 00:10:06 That's nothing. I know. No, seriously. Yeah, they're probably, 50% of that probably goes to taxes. And they're splitting it and then you have to be the winning couple. It's not like every participant. You give away, you give up like six months out of your year to go film this TV show. And it's horrible.
Starting point is 00:10:21 And you end up getting two grand. Right. They're doing horrible stuff too. What is that, like 50 cents an hour for your work? But it kind of made me want to watch Fear Factor with you because that was like when we were kids, like we weren't probably, we weren't the age, we were missing, we were missed that stage.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah. So we should watch that. I'm in to do that. Would you ever do Fear Factor? I would love to do Amazing Race with you. That's what we've talked about. Do you think I would be a good partner to have on Fear Factor?
Starting point is 00:10:43 That's, oh, that's so tough. It depends because you are really like you're a really hard worker and you're brave and you're strong. Like not many women like willingly do CrossFit or just like want to just like, I don't know. Like you're pretty freaking hardcore, dude. Thanks, man. You're tough. I appreciate that. I'm going to say you'd be a good fear factor. The reason I think I'd be good is because I really feel like I would eat anything.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Like, and I feel like there's a lot of like- Would you eat a cockroach? Yeah, I mean, here's the thing. You would eat a cockroach. If I knew that it was safe to eat, it was just like a matter of like, whether or not you thought it tasted good, I could definitely eat it.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I saw a cockroach today and it made me wanna throw- Don't eat that, I saw that cockroach. So, dude, it was like as big as my hand. It was the biggest bug I've ever seen in my life. We do episode one of Pure Factor right now. You eat it live on the podcast. Heck no. Are cockroaches poisonous?
Starting point is 00:11:31 Abby, I honestly would prefer a mouse in the house over a cockroach. Cause that thing was so big. Are you kidding? I much prefer a cockroach. It had all these little like tentacles and little grippers. It looked like it was an alien. Like a little mini alien is what the cockroach looked like.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And I wanted to throw up. I picked it up with a piece of toilet paper. Oh, you already got it. I got, I put it in the trash. I'm literally like pretty much the resident bug killer in our relationship. I don't mind, I don't mind flies. I don't mind spiders even,
Starting point is 00:11:59 but that cockroach is freakish. It was scary. I'm looking up if they're edible. Oh, for some cockroaches are a delicacy that is eaten raw. Oh, OK. Let's go eat some cockroach. You should do it. I think one time I was in this challenge thing in middle school
Starting point is 00:12:16 and I ate chocolate covered ants. Oh, my gosh, that's easy. That is so easy. And I ate grasshoppers, but those weren't covered in chocolate. They were just dead grasshoppers. And I ate one. That's big. weren't covered in chocolate. They were just dead grasshoppers. And I ate one. That's a bit great. Grasshoppers are huge.
Starting point is 00:12:28 I think these were. Oh, maybe it was a cricket. Yeah, it was a cricket. That's what it was. Grasshoppers are huge. I really think I'd be good on. I think we'd be a good team on Fearfactor, because I feel like you could do the mental puzzles.
Starting point is 00:12:40 I feel like you have a good puzzle brain. And then I could do the food challenges that are just like, this is nasty. Like eat that. I think we do make a really good team. I think we have different strengths and weaknesses. So we kind of complement each other. And some of them are like very mental. Like they were like in a cage and they were dropping like tarantulas on them. Okay, what would do that one? I feel like it'd be me. You think so? I think you could take the tarantulas. What scares me on
Starting point is 00:13:03 fear factor is they do the, holding their breath underwater while they're unlocking stuff. No, I can't do that. I don't want to drown. But I think if I had to choose between drowning or getting burned alive, I would probably, I would probably drown because when I was grilling the other day, I burned myself on the grill.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Oh, you didn't tell me that. It was a teeny little burn. It was like so tiny. And I'm like, imagine that times that, a thousand all over your body. Matt, stop. No, thank you. Stop.
Starting point is 00:13:28 That sounds horrible. That sounds so, so horrible. Where did this conversation go? Now I'm gonna start talking about the Salem witch trials again, but we talked about that on the last episode. I know, I was thinking about getting charted feathered again. Yeah, we can't do that, dude. This portion of today's episode is sponsored by Haya.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Our oldest, he's about the age where he can start taking vitamins. And I'm very excited for him to start taking his Haya Health vitamins. Basically when we first subscribed to Haya they sent us a bottle that's reusable it's like a glass bottle it's really cute it's yellow but then they sent a bunch of sticker pages and he can decorate it and he did and we're all ready to go for him to start taking these vitamins which I'm so excited, because if we had a dollar for every time that little kid is asking for treats,
Starting point is 00:14:07 treats, surprise, and we could give him one of his little vitamins and it'll actually be healthy for him. They taste so good, and the thing is a lot of other vitamins that kids take can be really sugary, they're not the best for you, and so that's why high is amazing because-
Starting point is 00:14:24 It's not just candy disguised as vitamins. Exactly. Exactly. You gotta, you gotta read the nutrition facts. Some of them have five grams of sugar in them. That's a lot of sugar for a little kid. For a vitamin? You're like, okay, there's already sugar hidden in so many kids marketed products.
Starting point is 00:14:39 It's like, we don't need it also in the vitamins too. We're already giving that kid cookies and apple juice. So we can't give them any more sugar on top of that. Exactly. Well, that's what Hiya's goal is. They kind of fill in the gaps that can be in kids' nutritional diets. They're also pediatrician approved.
Starting point is 00:14:53 They're super powered, chewable vitamins. They're formulated with the help of nutritional experts. Hiya's pressed with a blend of 12 organic fruits and veggies, then supercharged with 15 essential vitamins and minerals. And like I said, basically just helps fill in the gaps in a kid's nutrition. You can't force toddlers to do literally anything, but let alone like have a fully well-rounded diet as much as we try. We've actually worked out a special deal with HIA for their best-selling children's vitamin.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Receive 50% off your first order. To claim the deal, you must go to hiahealth.com slash unplanned. This deal is not available on the regular website. Go to h-i-y-a-h-e-a-l-t-h dot com slash unplanned and get your kids the full body nourishment they need to grow into healthy adults. Before we get into people's questions that they submitted for this week,
Starting point is 00:15:38 because we had you guys submit questions for us to answer on the podcast Instagram. Thank you everyone who did that. I wanted to get into our little situation yesterday with the Airbnb. Abby thought her phone got hacked or something because you started getting all these creepy messages from this guy.
Starting point is 00:15:55 I didn't think it got hacked. I thought someone was like. You thought a creepy person got your phone number? What did you think happened? Well, the message said something along the lines of, you know you can read Airbnb. And I was like, what does that mean? And then there was another message, it's like, I am so embarrassed. This is, I'm so disappointed in myself, like, please do not cancel this reservation. And then another message that was, like, along the same kind of, like,
Starting point is 00:16:18 panicky vibes and, like, broken, like, no coherent sentences. I was like, what's going on? I went on the Airbnb app and I had, like, 17 messages from the host. I was like, what's going on? I went on the Airbnb app and I had like 17 messages from the host. Yeah. Well, there was that time when we lived in Hawaii where you accidentally clicked on that link and then gave up your personal information and we had to go. No, Matt, it wasn't accidental.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Oh, it was on purpose. Yeah, it was on purpose. Yeah, well, it looked like it was from an official government website, but it was actually just a Google, it was a Google form. Google document. It was a Google. It was a Google.
Starting point is 00:16:46 It was like, what's your social security? Okay. And you put it into the Google form. I think that was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done as an adult. And you know what? It's all right. I think you kind of just panicked and you didn't want to ask me. No, I didn't panic at all.
Starting point is 00:16:58 I was completely thinking everything was kosher. I was like, yeah, this Google document. I'm like, give up my personal, I think my credit is still frozen. Yeah, we had to freeze Abby's credit after that. But we went to the police station, reported it. That was kind of spooky. We like vlogged all that. And then we were like, maybe with someone stealing Abby's identity right now, we probably shouldn't like post this on the internet. So at the time, we didn't end up releasing that video. But now that I'm thinking about it, that was, that was kind of funny. We got, we got through it though. We froze your credit. It all worked out. Yeah. But yeah. So I mean, like when you brought
Starting point is 00:17:33 up these creepy messages you were getting, my brain went back to like the identity theft situation. I thought, Oh, Oh, maybe it was just Airbnb. Yeah. I was like, maybe, you know, this is one of those situations again. I was like, did we give away our social? Like what happened? But it was all it was. You know what I really think happened? I think this guy, I think his job is to manage the property, but it's not his property. And I think that he was worried that he was going to disappoint the owner of the house.
Starting point is 00:17:58 And then he also English wasn't his first language. Yeah. And I was getting all these calls. But the thing is, it wasn't from a phone number, it was from an email. I was like, this is so suspicious. So then I did try to cancel it, even though he told me not to.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Well, you seemed really scared. I was scared because our babies are staying there. I know, so because you were so scared, I took it very seriously. And I was still confused as to who was sending these messages, because you were like, I started getting these after I booked the Airbnb, but it just didn't
Starting point is 00:18:25 make sense. So I ended up calling the number that was listed for that Airbnb. And that's when I did figure out, okay, this is just someone who didn't speak English the best. And I think they were just trying to communicate to us that the air conditioning was broken, that they were going to try to convince us to still stay at that house, even though it was had no AC. I'm not going to stay in LA with the windows open with two babies.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Yeah, and a potentially not the safest part of town. I don't know. I mean, we just don't know the LA area that well. So we have no idea. So it was like, yeah. We have no idea if this is like a super safe. We have stayed in some sketchy parts of LA before too. We have.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Well, one time we drove up to the Airbnb that we were gonna stay in when we went to Disneyland. Oh yeah. And they were- People were like shooting up in the yard. Yeah, I don't know what drugs they were doing, but it just looked kind of suspicious. And you were pregnant.
Starting point is 00:19:08 And involved needles. And we ended up just going down the road to stay at the Marriott. And we didn't get a refund for that Airbnb, but I just decided to take that loss and I did it with you or my baby to get hurt. Unborn baby. Yeah, my unborn baby.
Starting point is 00:19:21 That was before we had kids. That was before Griffin. Wow, that's crazy. Yeah, before we had kids, we spent a lot less on hotels because we were like, hey, it's just us, we're going to risk it. Now I'm like, no, no, no, it scares me. Yeah. I still refuse to spend very much on a hotel. Like when I fly to Nashville to record music, I always stay at like the cheapest hotel I can find because I just, I don't know, for me, I'm like, I'm by myself. I don't have my kids. No, I feel the same way.
Starting point is 00:19:42 It can smell like mildew and I'll get over it. Yeah. Probably not the best for my voice the next day when I'm singing. Oh, that's true. Yeah, maybe one day I'll, maybe one day I'll start. You could just crash on the couch in your studio. I've done that.
Starting point is 00:19:53 I've crashed at my producer's house, but I don't want to oversteer my welcome. Like I've done that a couple times. What about the couch in the studio? I could do that. Yeah, but the studio is also like at my producer's house. Oh, I thought it was at a church. There's two producers that I work with.
Starting point is 00:20:04 One, he has a studio at his house. The other, his studio is in at my producer's house. Oh, I thought it was at a church. There's two producers that I work with. One, he has a studio at his house. The other, his studio is in the back of a church in what used to be a storage room. You can stay there. But the hotel thing though, yeah, when it's with our kids, I'm not messing around. I'm not trying to stay somewhere that's super cheap. I just want them to be safe and cared for.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Well, it doesn't have to be fancy. It just needs to feel safe. Yeah. That's how I feel. You know, now that we brought up the identity theft thing, I it kind of brings me back to that time where can we talk about Duolingo? Can we tell can we tell the story of what happened? I don't care. You don't care?
Starting point is 00:20:37 Oh, gosh. That was really loud. I don't know what just fell, but it's everything's OK. No, see, Duolingo is still continuing to curse me. That's actually really, it's okay. You're all right. Yeah. I think that was a book that fell over. I don't know. No, no, no. This is why it was not a big deal. So I gave my information to a scammers then we had to freeze my credit, but it wasn't even detrimental to
Starting point is 00:21:03 us when it came to buying a house because my credit was already bad and it's all because of freaking Duolingo. Do you wanna tell the story or do you want me to? You can start. Okay, so how do we put this? Abby and I, we both got credit cards when we were freshmen in college because we wanted to build up our credit score
Starting point is 00:21:23 that way one day we could buy a house and all that. Because you know how it works in America. They check your credit score when you're going to buy a house. Anyway, long story short, we got a new credit card when we got married. We didn't close our old one, but we forgot that Abby's was connected to her Apple ID, and Abby wanted to learn Spanish. So it came from such a wholesome place. So she got a subscription of Duolingo and completely forgot that it was, or no, you
Starting point is 00:21:48 knew that it was going, but I forgot that it was tied to your old credit card. And I made sure that our credit card bill was paid in full every month. I was kind of a psycho about it. We were done using those cards. Yeah, yeah. But we didn't, we should have frozen them. I didn't think about that. We could have frozen those cards, but we just had them open
Starting point is 00:22:05 because if you keep your line of credit open and it's like a really old card, it's just good for your credit score. Anyway, Duolingo charged that card every single month for like a year. We didn't pay one penny of it. No, no, no. It was literally only three months before he realized it
Starting point is 00:22:19 because I kept getting all these calls. I was like, Discover keeps calling me. It's so annoying, but I don't have, I don't use that card anymore. So I didn't answer them. And then finally, I remember literally where I was. I was in, Discover keeps calling me, it's so annoying, but I don't have, I don't use that card anymore. So I didn't answer them, and then finally, I remember literally where I was, I was in a coffee shop, Kingdom Coffee in Springfield, Missouri, and they called me, he's like,
Starting point is 00:22:33 hi, I'm Dave from Discover, you are like, didn't they say like, fraud? They used like a crazy word that I was like, so the balance was like very low, because Duolingo's not like expensive, but because I had failed to pay it like three months in a row, it was a massive credit hit. I'm pretty sure it went on for a year because they didn't like when you know, you might be right.
Starting point is 00:22:56 I think it was three charges, but then they were carried over for a year. Well, because think about it. I mean, Duolingo is what like $8 a month or something, $10 a month. So I think it was once you, Duolingo is what, like $8 a month or something, $10 a month. So I think it was once you- It was like a $30 balance though. Yeah. And then the interest built up, because the interest on credit cards is insane.
Starting point is 00:23:11 It was like 25% or something ridiculous. And so it built up like crazy and it ended up turning into, we owed them like $200, but it wasn't, it wasn't that we owed them $200. It was all the interest that built up. And fees, because if you don't pay the bill over time, they just like stack on a crap ton of fees. It was so dumb. But what really screwed it,
Starting point is 00:23:32 what screwed you was then your credit score got hit hard. And so then we ended up using my credit score for like buying our house and stuff. I wonder if it's too late. I wonder if we could like dispute that. Like if you called and talked to Discover or called and talked to Duolingo, like I wonder if there's some way that we could convince them that it was just all a little misunderstanding. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Whenever you tell me things like that kind of stresses me out. Like I'm automatically triggered. Yeah. I hate that stuff. I'd rather just use your credit. Okay. I mean, we can do that. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Your credit's gotten better though. It has. Yeah. Because we have one of our credit cards is in your name. I don't need a perfect score, just need a good enough score. It doesn't this is a message to anyone who needs to hear this. Your credit score does not define you. That's beautiful. And that's that number does not put a value on you as an individual. I love that. And I still can't speak Spanish. Are you ever going to learn Spanish? Hola.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Actually, I've gotten Griffin to say hola. Okay, there's been kids in our neighborhood that when I like take the boys to the park, they'll talk to talk like they'll be playing without their kids and the kids legit know so much Spanish because we're we're in Phoenix. Like there's a there's a lot of people here that speak Spanish and it makes me want our kids to be bilingual. I think it'd be so cool. A lot of people in our neighborhood
Starting point is 00:24:50 send their kids to a Spanish immersion school. That's smart. But then how are we gonna communicate with our kids? We gotta learn Spanish too. When we're gonna have to re-download Duolingo and it's just gonna be full circle. Hey, your grandma can speak some Spanish. She can.
Starting point is 00:25:04 She can speak it. And she learned it while she was a senior. 70. Which is encouraging because we could be retired and just be like, let's go move to South America and learn to speak Spanish. We could do it. That's kind of fun. Maybe that's in the cards for us one day.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Maybe. We might have to do Rosetta Stone or something. Thank you to Nutriful for sponsoring this portion of today's episode. So Matt, how would you say your hair growth journey has been recently? It looks thicker to me. You think it looks thicker? I think it looks a lot thicker.
Starting point is 00:25:32 It's looking a lot better than it used to. And for me too, have you noticed my baby hair's coming in? So it just shows how much regrowth I've had postpartum. I've taken my Nutriful postpartum vitamin. I'm still taking it now. I'm 10 months post. I've been really- Oh my gosh, I'm like 11 months postpartum. You are. I need to get back on my Nutri-Ful postpartum vitamin. I'm still taking it now. I'm 10 months post- I've been really- Oh my gosh, I'm like 11 months postpartum.
Starting point is 00:25:46 You are. I've been bad. I need to get back on my Nutri-Ful grind. I have like been bad about taking it. Really? Yeah. Nutri-Ful is the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement
Starting point is 00:25:56 with over one million people seeing thicker, stronger, fast growing hair with less shedding. I mean, those results speak for themselves. Over a million people. Thinning hair is also different for men and women. And so there's not really a one size fits all approach to hair growth. So just a general hair vitamin isn't going to really cut it. But NutriFull has multiple formulas that are tailored to give your hair what it needs to grow based off of your biology, your life stage and your lifestyle factors.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I'm actually pretty sure my brother stole my NutriFull because my younger brother was like, Hey, I want to have better hair. And and he saw my neutrophil and I think he took it Well, I think that's good because in clinical studies 72% of men saw more scalp coverage after taking neutrophil some men hair growth Wow neutrophil men's hair growth supplement. That's for six months. That's something you have to be consistent with it You have to be diligent about it and you can't expect results right away, but my hair, I'm loving it. Yeah, they say you see results within three to six months, so it takes some dedication, but the results speak for themselves.
Starting point is 00:26:50 So get results you can run your fingers through. For a limited time, NutriFull is offering our listeners $10 off your first month subscription and free shipping. Starting point is 00:27:12 That's NutriFull.com promo code unplanned. Our first question that we're gonna answer comes from Janique photo. And what she wanted to know is why we don't say what's up dudes anymore. I don't know if you guys noticed, we said what's up dudes to open the episode today. We don't say it cause it's cringy,
Starting point is 00:27:26 but I guess we're saying it again. Yeah, we stopped saying it cause we're like, is this cringy? Well no, we knew it was. Yeah, I mean we knew, yeah. But- You're so back and forth, because sometimes you're like,
Starting point is 00:27:38 I think what's up dudes is stupid, we're gonna cancel it. And then next thing you know, you're like, okay, we're gonna start this off with three, two, one, what's up dudes, okay, ready? Here we go. I'm like, wait, there was no start this off with three, two, one, what's up dudes, okay, ready? Here we go. I'm like, wait, there was no conversation in between that. I want you guys to let us know if the top comment
Starting point is 00:27:50 is to bring what's up dudes back, then we'll keep it. But if it's not the top comment, then maybe- Imagine someone recommends this podcast to someone and saying like, it's like cool, insightful conversation. And then they, first thing they hear is, what's up, dudes? Maybe maybe what we'll do is we won't force our guests to say, what's up, dudes?
Starting point is 00:28:11 But maybe like whenever we just do an episode of me and you, I'm I'm I'm for that. Maybe that's the way because then our guests won't be so thrown off. Like these people are weird, you know? Yeah. Because if you meet somebody and the first thing they say when you meet them is, what's up, dudes? You might be like, these people are weird. but we are a little weird and that's okay
Starting point is 00:28:28 Yeah, next question we have is from Shreya. It's do Griffin and Augie get along I don't really know what's going on right now I think he just wants whatever Griffin has and Griffin does not want Augie to touch what he has something I hope that Augie never loses is his laughter. He is the happiest little baby in the whole entire world. And you guys, if I just start tickling him for two seconds. He has a belly laugh and he rubs. And it's just, it is the best medicine
Starting point is 00:28:58 any person could ever ask for. Hearing a baby's laughter is like music to my ears. It is so sweet and so precious. He's amazing. But yeah, I think Griffin started to get, Griffin is such a good, sweet, sweet kid. Especially when he plays with other kids and is around other little kids his age.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Being almost two, that's a tough age. But he is so freaking sweet. Like he is just a tender kid. Obviously he's going to get a little annoyed when his baby brother's like in his space playing with his toys. He'll just react impulsively. But, um, I don't think he ever has like malicious intent. We're trying to work with him more on sharing. I think as a little kid, it's hard to understand the concept of sharing because you're like, this is mine. It's not yours. And even yesterday at our friend's house, Griffin was trying to claim all of our friends' daughters'
Starting point is 00:29:50 toys. It's so normal. Yeah, I mean, I think they just get territorial and they're just like, I want to try to claim as much of this stuff as I can. And I had a heart to heart with Griffin. I said, hey dude, we have to share. And so he was holding two big cars and I was like, can you please give one of those to Mia? And he did. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:08 I think the best thing to do in those situations, I like pull away from the situation and then just like kind of deescalate a little bit. And then, then he usually comes around. Wait, can I play this video of Auggie laughing? Go for it, yeah. He has the best laugh in the world. That doesn't even totally do it justice. Like he has the best of the laugh. But yeah, they get along great and I feel like they're just going to be two peaches in a pod. They're starting to like become more similar in size. It's crazy. I just literally take clothes from Griffin's drawers now and put them into Augie's because the gap is closing. They are so close in size. Yeah. And it is awesome. Like having kids that close in age is awesome because they just have a little buddy and they do
Starting point is 00:31:05 everything with each other. They chase each other. They play with each other. They can even share diapers if they need to. I know they're, yeah, they're sharing diapers now. Like we ran out of overnight diapers for Augie and then we just tried to put in Griffin's diapers on him and we're like, wait a second. These are a little big, but they still work. He's such a big chunker. Yeah. They're so fun together. They play great. And I think we could do is probably put them on each other's sports teams. Oh, for're so fun together. They play great. And I think we could do is probably put them on each other sports teams. Oh, for sure. I did that with my older brother. We're 18 months apart and Griffin Nagi are 13. So even closer in age and I played on my brother's
Starting point is 00:31:34 baseball team for a while. That's so sweet. Yeah. That's so sweet. So I think that's in the cards. We just have to convince either my dad or your dad to be the coach because my dad coached my baseball team. So I feel like he'd be a great baseball coach for our kids. Yeah, your dad should do baseball. My dad can do soccer. Yeah, he'd have to move out here first. But yeah, your dad would be a great soccer coach because he played soccer in college.
Starting point is 00:31:53 That'd be cool. I want to coach our kids to skateboard and to surf and to snowboard too. I think I'm going to get Griffin. Probably not Augie next year. He'll probably be too little. But I think next year I'll get Griffin on the slopes with me and I'll have one of those like little cords
Starting point is 00:32:07 that we can snowboard down the mountain together. And it's gonna be a blast. You should get a little tiny mic on him so we can hear what he's saying. Yes, I've thought about that. I've seen, there's like a dad who's gone viral with, I think it's him and his daughter snowboarding together. I know, I love those.
Starting point is 00:32:22 It's so cute. Even just for us us like just to have hear his little sweet voice when he's all big and his voice is all deep just to hear his little sweet voice right now. Griffin has a deep voice for a little kid. He does have a deep voice. And it's so funny. He's like yeah. Compared to other kids because most most little boys have like really high-pitched voices but for Griffin it's just like hi dada. Hi dada. That's what he says. Sometimes he's just like hi honey. Something about Griffin, sorry we're talking too much about him. He's a family man. He like loves going through every single person in our family all the time. Like in his bed, he'll be like Addy Coco, Abbey Uncle, CJ, Auggie,
Starting point is 00:33:08 Gamma Papa. Like he just like runs through everyone in the family. That's his favorite thing is like, and he's surrounded by family and it just warms my heart so much. Like I just, I love that they're so involved and I feel like really, really blessed because I know that that's like something a lot of families want, but it's hard because of strained relationships or for whatever reason, but yeah, he's a family man. My parents were just in town visiting us and they left and I was kind of sad because I want my parents to have a good
Starting point is 00:33:37 relationship with our kids, but it was cool because I FaceTime my parents yesterday and it was just like they were there in the room with us. Like even though they're back in Missouri, we're in Arizona. They just had a full on conversation with Griffin while he was eating his dinner and it was so, so, so sweet. Yeah, I love it. Next question is, I want to know the logistics of getting such cool guests. Wow. Okay. First of all, thank you.
Starting point is 00:34:04 I'm so glad that you are enjoying the guests that we've had. This kind of like behind the scenes. So hopefully you guys are interested in this, but I used to think before I ever like did this stuff, I just thought everyone who was like on social media had some sort of correspondent who just was like an insider and they were like, make this video or here's this guest. Like kind of, kind of like when you hear like industry plants, I just assumed that's how this works. Everybody just had their secret person that was pulling the strings for them behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And it really doesn't work that way at all. For us, we're kind of just sending DMs and emailing people. And a lot of people don't even get back to us, but when someone does, we're like, hey, this is cool. This person wants to be on the show. And so it's really just us and our, and our very small team. It's us, our assistant, our editor, and we re like very recently brought on a producer. So yeah, it's a, it's kind of a small little operation, but I'm so thankful that you think our guests are cool. I think they're very cool too. The next question we have is, did you combine your finances once you got married pros and cons?
Starting point is 00:35:11 I was actually just talking with my sister-in-law about this. I would be curious to pick someone's brain that's in a marriage where they decided to keep it all separate. Yeah. And to understand why, because you have to be in a very unique financial situation for me to see where that would be necessary and more convenient. Because like then you have to split it all up and you're like, okay, well, it's your month to pay the mortgage or like that just seems like a logistical nightmare. Yeah. Unless you're like, okay,
Starting point is 00:35:42 you always pay the mortgage and I always pay the utilities and but just like The only circumstance I can think of is if one person has a really bad spending problem And like you need to like protect The rest like your finances like your funds but like otherwise I'm like what would be the purpose to itemize like that? Cuz like when you get married you're you're gonna be together for the rest of your life. Yeah. I don't know. I would agree with that.
Starting point is 00:36:08 I think it is interesting when people don't. I can totally see if somebody is like in a long-term partnership and they haven't combined their finances. Like if they're not married and they just, you know, yeah. I will say a perk to that would be that when I gave you a gift, it would really feel like me giving you a gift.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Whereas like now it's like, I used our money to buy you something. Yeah. Which is still special, but. Okay, do we want to change that about us? Because we don't really get each other gifts. We get each other. I know, I want gifts now.
Starting point is 00:36:39 We go on trips. So you want to change it up. You want to do gifts instead? Maybe, see it's not about the gift, but it's really the thought. Yeah. So it doesn't even necessarily have to be a gift. I just want something where it's not like, oh, like it fell on this day, so that's what we're doing for your, you know, so and so. And like, you are amazing. You did a trip for my birthday. Like, that counts.
Starting point is 00:37:02 I did set the bar high from the beginning of our relationship with like giving you a lot of gifts. And then when we got married, we decided to start taking trips because we, we were like, let's just, yeah, we're married. We can like, you know, we sleep in the same bed. Let's go to like Hawaii and stuff. So we started doing that now, but I don't know. I, uh, I actually take everything I said back. I don't really care about gifts. Yeah. I like the memories is what I like. I like the memories and there's so many places in our world. And the thought. There's so many places that I want to go to. Like, how cool would it be to go see the Sahara desert in Africa and like ride a camel and see the pyramids? Like how, how insane would that be? Right. To go
Starting point is 00:37:41 experience that. Crazy. I don't know if I'd bring her kids on that journey. Yeah. But then again, people do it. Like I'm really inspired when I see these families who take their kids all over the world and they get to experience so much. I see a little older. Yeah, I think right now is probably not the time for that. But yeah, I much rather have an experience over a thing. That's like my personal take for sure. Yeah, same. I actually feel that. I agree. I take back everything about the gifts. Yeah. I just like the thought
Starting point is 00:38:09 and the thought can be applied to a card. It can be applied to a special date, a trip, you know, all those other things. How do you feel about, you just, you mentioned you said a car, right? Like how do you- A card. Oh, a card. I thought you said it could be applied to a car.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Like- Oh my gosh, that would be a huge gift. That would be a very big one. I don't like gifts, I just want cars. Because the year that we moved to Arizona, we ended up buying two cars because we had no vehicle here. We sold our car when we left Hawaii. And we had guests that were always coming from out of state. Yeah, so we bought two cars and both of those cars are five, they seat five. Yeah. What
Starting point is 00:38:46 do you think? Cause I know you wanted to get a three row vehicle. You were, you were very interested in that, especially once we had Augie. How do you feel about having just two rows right now? It's fine. I've put, I've switched my efforts to the house thing now. So I'm not going to mention the car thing until that's taken care of. Okay. So like the house is now. So I'm not gonna mention the car thing until that's taken care of. Ah, okay, so like the house is more on your priority list than the car. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:39:11 This portion of today's episode is sponsored by Rocket Money. Do you have subscriptions that you've forgotten about and forgot to cancel? Because I do that all the time. I actually have one that I need to cancel because our son took the remote and started getting subscriptions. I didn't even know that you could do that.
Starting point is 00:39:25 But you know what? It's kind of nice that he got that for us because we've been using it. We have been using the subscription. Yeah. So thank you, Griffin, for the TV subscription. But you just ran up our bill. So what I need to do is I need to go on the Rocket Money app and have Rocket Money cancel the subscriptions for me because they can do that for you as well as negotiate your
Starting point is 00:39:44 bills down. We used to pay, I think it was $50 a month for our home security. Rocket Money, we told them like, Hey Rocket Money, can you please go negotiate this down for us? And they said yes. And you know what? Now we only pay $30 a month. Yeah, Rocket Money is great.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Rocket Money is a personal finance app that finds and cancels your unwanted subscriptions, monitors your spending, and helps lower your bills like Matt said, so you can grow your savings. And it has over 5 million users and has saved a total of 500 million dollars. That's a lot of millions. And cancels subscriptions, saving members up to $740 a year when using all of the apps features. Rocket Money is amazing for the monthly subscriptions, for lowering your bills, but even just to see where you're spending, where your money's going all in one clear place, it's really insightful and it's good so you can be a smart steward of your
Starting point is 00:40:29 money and be in control of your finances again. I'm very visual, so it's cool how Rocket Money will take all the numbers, all the data from your credit card, your bank account, and then you can visually see like, ooh, this is the bar chart of what I spent this month and what I made. And you can just compare it. And it's so helpful to have all that data in one place. And it just gives you a lot more control over your finances. Exactly. So stop wasting money on things you don't use. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash unplanned. That's rocketmoney.com slash unplanned rocketmoney.com slash unplanned rocketmoney.com slash unplanned. And speaking of that, what are y'all's favorite sweets?
Starting point is 00:41:09 I really love sweets as much as you do. I love I love sweets so much. But you don't like candy. I felt kind of sad. I can I say this my dad said to me he was like I never thought I felt kind of sad. Can I say this? My dad said to me, he was like, I never thought I'd have a belly. Oh. And I feel like that's gonna be me.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Cause my dad and I are so similar. Is that why you've been talking about your belly so much recently? Yes, well cause I have like a little bit of, I have a pooch. You do not. I have a pooch. You do not. I was always like the twig. I was a twig.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Like I was a very, very skinny kid and I was embarrassed. I wanted to have more muscle. Ever since becoming a dad, I feel like it's just so easy. Like if I've had a hard day, it just, I'll just binge cookies or sweets or ice cream or whatever. And now I have more belly fat than I've ever had. So yeah, I'm definitely, I'm aware of,
Starting point is 00:41:58 I could have a belly one day, which I don't want to have. Like I love, I feel like just carrying extra weight, it feels like it holds you back in some ways ways like I always want to be able to do everything that I want to do I want to be able to hike at an old age. I want to be able to surf at an old age So yeah, I'm definitely trying to be more mindful of how much sugar I have but I love all the sweets I mean, there's not your favorite food is a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie or sugar cookie You love sugar cookies fresh baked chocolate chip cookie is sugar cookie. You love sugar cookies. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookie
Starting point is 00:42:27 is probably the one for me. That's your one? That's my weakness. When you bake- I love those. That's honestly for me too. Your recipe, which I think you got your recipe from our friend Bella.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Yep. When you bake those fresh chocolate chip cookies that they just melt in your mouth, they're fresh off the pan. Oh my gosh. I could eat all 24. Seriously. I like those. I also like brownies,
Starting point is 00:42:45 but you don't like ice cream too. Yeah. We're like that. We're not as much the fruity dessert people. You're a fan of your ninja creamy. You you'll make yourself a ninja creamy dessert. I need to get my ninja creamy going again. I like it, but I can still taste the protein powder taste whenever you. I mean, I can make a non-protein ice cream with it. You can make regular yummy ice cream, but I like the protein one. I'm not picky. Yeah. So I like the protein one
Starting point is 00:43:11 because it makes me feel more full afterwards. Something I admire about you is you have very good self-control when it comes to dessert and when it comes to portions. Like I, because I was always so twig skinny and I wanted to be bigger, I would like force myself to eat extra. So my natural state is just to eat
Starting point is 00:43:30 until I'm like extremely full. And I feel like you know how to have good portion control and you know how to like have one cookie and not seven. Yeah, I just try to listen to my body. Once I'm satisfied, I'm just like, oh, I don't really want anymore. Cause I don't think I've ever seen you I'm just like, Oh, I don't really want anymore. I don't think I've ever seen you eat like seven cookies in one sitting. I've never done that. Yeah, this never happened. I've never done
Starting point is 00:43:51 that. No, I don't think that would make my body feel good. I only do what it like makes me feel good. Yeah, you're good. Usually one cookie makes me feel good. So I'm not like I'll never have cookies. But I think you need to get you back into with your body. Yeah, I mean, it really did help. We got a cookie jar. And when you baked cookies, last time you baked cookies, we put all the cookies in the cookie jar and they were out of sight. And so I didn't even see them and I forgot they existed because it's a lot harder if I'm walking through the living room and I see 24 cookies sitting out. I'm like, well, I'll just eat three,
Starting point is 00:44:19 you know, like might as well. Right. But when it's in the cookie jar, it's not like hitting me in the face, like go eat cookies. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just easier for me to control that. I have a sight out of mind. That's how you always are. That's how you are with your parents. This is how this is funny. Does it bother you that Abby has more muscles than you? That's not even true. You are very, very fit. Thank you. You have a really amazing body and you, and you work so hard for it too. You have a really amazing body and you, and you work so hard for it too. I'm, I don't have more muscles than you. I'm jealous. I'm jealous.
Starting point is 00:44:49 You are like, you're very strong. I'm pretty sure you have, I think your calf muscles might be bigger than my calf muscles. That's really what I've been trying to grow. I've been trying to work on those calves. But I think you got that from doing ballet because you were, you did point all throughout high school. So that's probably part of the capacity grew there. It's part of what it is, but you're very strong though, Abby, like you,
Starting point is 00:45:11 whenever you're like, I don't know if I could do a pull-up, you could probably do 10 pull-ups. Like if you actually tried to do pull-ups, you could probably do 10. I've seen you do one and then you, this is you doing a pull-up. You like really quickly do it. And then you stop. And I'm like, you did that pull-up so fast. You could do so many more than just that.
Starting point is 00:45:28 You're silly. I just like to work out. What's your average right now? Are you still doing five days a week? Yeah, my goal is five a week. I usually do five a week. That's impressive. My goal is three. Um, so not, not quite as many as you, but it's great. I think anywhere from three to five is totally Normal even with a really busy week I can at a minimum do three thirty minute workouts that if I have like a super busy week, right? So I don't feel like there's there's not like a big excuse there for me, you know, whatever feels good This one's a more serious question, but if you could choose any superpower, what would it be and why? I don't think I want a superpower any superpower what would it be and why? I don't think I want a superpower. With great power comes great responsibility and I don't want that. For me it'd be flying for sure. Flying yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Wouldn't everyone want to fly? Unless you're afraid of heights. Or okay shape-shifting would be sick. No. If you could turn into a gorilla. Then you could accidentally get into danger because they don't know that you're a human. But like say if someone, if you're in a dangerous situation, If there was a gorilla loose in Phoenix, what do you think is gonna happen to that gorilla? But if you saw the person shape shift into a gorilla, then you'd be like, that's,
Starting point is 00:46:34 that's just a human that can shape shift. So I'm not gonna, you know what I'm saying? No, I don't think that would be perceived normally. Cause before the animal patrol comes, or say you see the animal patrol trying to catch you and like put you in a cage, then you can shape shift back to human. Well, what that process like is what i want to know like is it quick or is it like oh instantaneous you can oh okay yeah i don't know how i feel be being married
Starting point is 00:46:54 to someone that could shape shift that's true i would have some trust issues yeah oh that's true because you could even shape shift to other people i didn't see i didn't think about that i was thinking about like becoming an animal all i can think about is sky high when you say shape-shifting. Oh really? Don't they shape-shifting to like guinea pigs? Maybe. But like yeah, this book I read this guy can become like a gorilla or an elephant. And I think that could be very useful. Like if I need to get somewhere really fast and I don't have a car, cheetah. No in this in America, if there is a cheetah running, that is not gonna be good for the cheetah. That's a good point. That's a really good point. I might have to rethink that one.

Starting point is 00:49:19 These are like, there's been some questions that make us like say really nice things. Okay. And I like that. I'm actually curious what you think my favorite... Actually, I know what your favorite feature is on me. Physical feature? Yeah, I know it is. I know it.
Starting point is 00:49:30 What are you gonna say? You've told me it was my chest before. Yeah, that would be like your... my favorite body feature. Ah, okay. You have a great chest. Thank you. And that's very random,
Starting point is 00:49:37 but it's just... I love laying my head on there. For your face, you have such... you have such a good smile. Thank you. I love your teeth. I think you have really pretty hair. Thank you. I'm so jealous because my hair is very thin and fine, but your hair is so good.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Thank you. It looks really good. It's thick. You style it well. It's kind of a mess right now. But I like it when it's up though. I think it looks good up. Thank you. Yeah, I'm hairy. Our son got it from me really his legs. All right. Does our son have hairy legs Griffin has very hairy legs Really? I've never noticed my parents both brought it up to me. They're like, uh, have you checked out his legs recently? It's all blonde. So it's easy to miss but if you look at it and like it catches the light
Starting point is 00:50:22 He's a lot more like here than the average one-year-old. That's so cute. No what's funny about him is his he has a full he has all of his teeth. Yeah so many teeth. And he's had it for a long time. For months. It's kind of wild. Like a year honestly. He's such a little kid and then he has every single one of his choppers. So much teeth. Yeah. Yeah. Is that funny? He's advanced. He's advanced. I think you have really pretty eyes too. And I like it when you wear green because green compliments your eyes. Thank you. What is one thing that the kids do that make you laugh every time? I literally farting is so funny. Like when our kids fart, it's hilarious, especially when it's so loud that you think it's me. Yeah, that's hilarious. Griffin tooted on Addy yesterday. It was really funny. Um, that is hilarious. That's a good one. I think just the things they randomly, first of
Starting point is 00:51:11 all, Augie is such a mimicker. Like if we do this, like cock our head to the side, he'll cock his head. But so adorably, uh, that cracks me up. He does that and he can, we were like snapping. He was pretending to snap too and clap. He can mimic anything we do and that just is so sweet because it's like, I think he's like not as much there because he's still so baby, but then when he does those things I'm like, oh my gosh, he's just, he's sitting there observing, he's learning and he's processing. Griffin, just the things he says are hilarious and the way he retells stories with so much gibberish and then randomly putting real words in there cracks me up. Yeah I love when he tries to tell people about how we'll like go see
Starting point is 00:51:49 the horses it'd be like horse beep beep and then he'll say like uh Blake and he'll say Addy Coco but he just assumes that everybody knows who Addy Coco is but Coco is his uncle which is your brother and we'll go and see their dogs, and he loves their dogs. And so, like, it'll just go up to some random person and say all that. Yeah, and then he'll just like, say beep beep. Yeah, beep beep refers to the cat. The way he says trash truck is probably the funniest thing,
Starting point is 00:52:18 though, trash truck? But everything's a trash truck to him. Even a fire truck is a trash truck. He's obsessed. I told my dad this, because I was like, dad, if you became a trash truck is a trash truck. He's obsessed. I told my dad this because I was like, dad, if you became a trash truck driver, you'd be Griffin's hero. He seriously would be. And I've even considered like, could I convince like the trash truck service to let me be that for a day? Because if Griffin saw me in a trash truck, that's probably a highly qualified position.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Probably. Yes. But my son would think I was Superman. I mean, let's be honest, kids think that we're super cool. It's just like part of being a parent, they look up to you a lot, but man, if I was in the trash truck, I think that would bring me to an even higher level. I totally would. Which would be awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:56 How are you guys finding joy in your life? How are you finding joy, Matt? Sounds so cliche, but really my kids just brighten my day so much. Yeah. Right now we alternate days that we wake up with the kids. It works so cliche, but really my kids just brighten my day so much. Yeah. Right now we alternate days that we wake up with the kids. It works out great for us. They're sleeping in longer now,
Starting point is 00:53:10 but for a while they were getting up in the fives. So when you're waking up at 5 a.m., that's not ideal, you know, that's really early. So we were switching off and today, Abby woke up with the kids, but Griffin ran into our room and came and said hi to me in bed. He tickled your feet.
Starting point is 00:53:23 He tickled my feet and then I snuggled with him and I ended up getting up then because I just couldn't resist that cute kid. Yeah. But that was like the best way to wake up in the morning is just to see my happy little toddler saying hi, Dada. You know. Yeah, I was like Dada, sleep, be quiet. He goes, shh.
Starting point is 00:53:38 He like snuck in quietly and then he's like, oh Dada. And like so loud. I'm like, okay, you were supposed to be quiet. But yeah, there's so much joy. I love too when he wakes up from his nap or he wakes up in the morning and he's just calling my name. Oh yeah, dada.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Feel like I find joy of course, like always in my family, but recently, like I said, having plans, having something to look forward to is like so key. I feel like for just daily joy, like having something daily to look forward to, and I do look forward to it. I look forward to dinner plans. I look forward to us like I'm going to a birthday party and I'm going to have that trip coming up and then there's just so many things to look forward to.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Bachelorette, I love that. I dread the day that Griffin realizes that I'm not a superhero, because one day we won't be as cool to him as he thinks we are right now. That's sad. Don't you remember when you realized that your parents weren't actually that cool?
Starting point is 00:54:35 I don't remember having a moment like that. I think you did. Really? Maybe I did. Maybe I was like a, I was a skater kid and I was like, oh, my parents are trying to make me wear a helmet. That's so not cool. Oh. You know? But, which I will make our kids wear helmets. I do that already.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Yeah. Really care about their little Noggins. They come in, they come in handy too. Like they, they fall, they fall over so much when I take them off the bike. I'm like, should I take their bike helmet off? And I'm like, I'll just leave it back on. They'll be like running at the park and just Griffin ran into a metal pole and his, his helmet protected his head.
Starting point is 00:55:06 That's funny. I'm like, I'm so glad I didn't take that. I'm like, I should put a helmet on that kid all the time. Truthfully, yeah. We should just have a helmet on them literally 24 seven. I don't know, because then they might just be more reckless because they know and then one time, like they can't wear a helmet their whole life.
Starting point is 00:55:18 If your arm breaks, you know, it can grow back, it can mend itself. It can do all this stuff. But man, you hit your head hard enough, that'll affect you for life. So I thought this question was super interesting and I'm interested to see if you wanna even answer this. Oh boy.
Starting point is 00:55:33 But it says baby names you liked but didn't use. I'm scared to say those. Cause then we might actually use it. I guess it's fine, who cares if other people use it? We cannot gate key baby names Yeah, we can't gate key. You know a name I really like recently I like the name Fisher a lot, but then I've thought about the fact that your family has the last name Fisher That's true. But is that good? Does it make it better or worse? That's a cute name. I like the name Fisher
Starting point is 00:55:58 The name Fisher is so cute. It's so similar though because we both have always liked the name Fletcher. Yes Fletcher is so cool. So I feel like we either going to have a Fletcher or a Fisher. Fisher is cool. Fletcher is really cool. If I haven't told the story of how we came up with Fletcher, I met a guy on the slopes one time. He was a snowboarder, super cool dude, and his name was Fletcher. I jokingly told Abby, how rad would that be if we named a kid Fletcher?
Starting point is 00:56:20 Then she actually liked the name. Well, at first I was like, haha. Then I was like, but wait, I actually like that. So yeah, like haha, and I was like but wait I actually like that so yeah I like and I think they all fit with our those both fit with our other names We have for a girl We've always loved the name Finley, but we already have a Griffin, so I don't think we can have a Griffin and a Finn Yeah, would that be weird to have a grip? And also the main other reason is that we have family that likes the name Finley, so we'll probably let them use it
Starting point is 00:56:43 Oh, that's sad though because you've wanted the name I know I like the name Finley, so we'll probably let them use it. Oh, that's sad though, because you've wanted the name Finley. I know, I've liked the name Finley since I was like a kid. That's been like 20 years in the making that you've liked that name. It's such a unique name too. I know. And I feel like, okay, Flynn entangled as Flynn Rider, right? So I guess that's different than Finn, but I feel like that name could almost work for a boy or a girl, Finley. Oh, totally could.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Isn't it? But I like it for a girl. It has its origin in, is it Scotland? Maybe. Finley. Oh, totally good. Isn't it? But I like it for a girl. It has its origin in, is it Scotland? Maybe. Is that what it is? Maybe. Isn't it like a, um. That sounds right. I'm a history nerd, so I looked it up one time, but yeah. I really like the name Finley and I like the name, those are all F names, Fisher and Fletcher. You guys have other names you like? The other one that you had that you've liked for a long time, we even came up with the middle name. It was, uh, the first name was Emmett and the second name was Oliver. Yeah, I like the name one that you had that you've liked for a long time, we even came up with a middle name.
Starting point is 00:57:25 The first name was Emmett and the second name was Oliver. Yeah, I like the name Emmett. That kind of still fits too. Oliver's also a name that someone in our family likes. And Oliver's a great first name. Oliver Howard, Emmett Howard, they're all so good names. All of them are so good. And Daisy was one.
Starting point is 00:57:43 You thought we were thinking of if we ever had a girl we'd name her Daisy and we kind of thought that was kind of cute. Like all of them are so good. And Daisy was one. You thought we were thinking of like, if we ever had a girl we'd be name her Daisy. And we kind of thought that was kind of cute. I kind of like Daisy. I kind of am on the fence about it. But now that I say Daisy out loud, I go right. I just don't think it fits with our other names. It doesn't fit with the other names. And then it makes me think of Mario Kart.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Like choose your character Daisy. Do you want Daisy or Peach? You know, like that kind of- No, I love the name Daisy. I just feel like it doesn't fit with our other names. That's a really good point. I also like the name Clementine, but you didn't love that one. That's cute. It doesn't really fit our other names either.
Starting point is 00:58:10 It doesn't. I like the name Chloe a lot. And I like the name Blake. Fletcher would be such a cool name. And then if, because it is a little more unique, we could give him a very normal, a very normal middle name. Like, I don't know. I don't think Fletcher is that unique. I think it's like a good name.
Starting point is 00:58:26 You think so? Yeah. Okay. I like that name. Cause I thought about that too, like if you give your kid, if you give your kid a really unique name, you might want to give them a very normal middle name. That way, if they hate their name, they can go by their middle name.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Well, also just for flow of a name, I feel like it fits better to have like something more. Yeah. Yeah. But even my friend, Brendan, like his middle name is Brendan. He doesn't go by his first name. His first name's John and his second, his middle name's Brendan.
Starting point is 00:58:51 And then he chose to go by Brendan. That is interesting. Did you know it was a big crisis in my family when I decided to go by Matt instead of Matthew? Really? My parents were sad because they always liked me as Matthew, but I thought Matthew wasn't very cool. So I thought it'd be like a cooler name to go by Matt.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Really? Yeah. See, I like Matthew. Really? Yeah. Interesting. You want to go back to Matthew? It feels like the only people that call me Matthew
Starting point is 00:59:13 are my parents. And then maybe like two or three kids that went to school with me in like elementary school before I changed my name to Matt, those kids sometimes will call me Matthew. I'm down to switch it back if you like it. Really? I don't know. You actually like it like that? I like Matthew for sure. Well, because my dad's name is Matt. So I'm like, that would give me a little distinction. Yeah. No one calls him Matthew.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Why does Matthew not feel as like tough? Really? Yeah. Matt feels tough. Matthew doesn't. Ask yourself a deeper question. Why do you want to be tough? Yeah, maybe maybe that's some stuff. I need to work out. Yeah. Well, you maybe that's a deeper issue. Maybe we just aired out literally all of our baby names. I know that was that was our whole list. I'm like, should we have done that?
Starting point is 00:59:57 But what's funny is you guys we've had those names for a very long time and we never used any of them for our kids. Griffin was like spur of the moment, random, like this name sounds cool. And I was like, I also think that name sounds cool. August, same situation. And both times they were you. You picked out both of our kids' names. And I was like, I also like that.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Like it wasn't that deep. It's also because I spend so much time thinking about it. And I'm like, if you were to come up with one, I would be open to it. Really? Yeah. I was thinking the other day, I was like, do I like the name Franklin? Because I think that's kind of cute, but then I don't know if I could do it as a name for it. Franklin is kind of cute though. It's kind of cute, but maybe we could get a turtle and name it Franklin. Yeah, I would do that. That'd be cute. Franklin for a dog? That'd be a cute. Wait, we should get our dog named Franklin. That's so cute. Yes. A big old
Starting point is 01:00:43 fluffy Franklin. I thought we were thinking of the name Rocco for a dog. I think Rocco's a good dog name too. I think of a big shaggy dog. I'm thinking of like a, Rocco. Like a, what's the breed called? Stop, you're getting my brain thinking because now I'm thinking about a house with a dog.
Starting point is 01:00:58 Well, your cousin's dog is called Bear and he looks like a bear. He looks like a big black teddy bear. Well, chocolate. Or he's a chocolate doodle. A chocolate doodle. Yeah, so such a beautiful dog, such a friendly dog, and I think if a dog that looks like that named Rocco, and our kids could just like play with them. We should do that. Now we're back on the team dog. Yeah. But I don't want a potty trainer dog. No. I can't even potty train a kid yet. Yeah Yeah We'll do it. We'll do it eventually By the time you guys are watching this we will have
Starting point is 01:01:28 Uprooted our lives to live in Nashville for a month and it kind of got me thinking we'll be in the south We'll be in the country. Are you gonna start saying y'all again? Are you gonna be still do like you're gonna like consistently be like hey y'all or like howdy y'all I text it more than I say it same like I text y'all. I don't really say y'all or like, howdy y'all. I text it more than I say it. Same. Like I text y'all, but I don't really say y'all as much. I never say, yeah, I don't really say y'all in person, but sometimes if I'm trying to be kind or come off, you know. Well, you know what? I say, how about y'all do that?
Starting point is 01:01:55 And then, but I won't be like, hey y'all. Yeah. That feels more unnatural for me. It's funny cause you never said that until we lived in Springfield, Missouri, which is near Ogrensauk. Living in Southern Missouri will do that to you. Made you say y'all. Yeah, I like it. Like when someone says y'all, I'm like, oh, they're friendly. Did you know my own cousin developed a country accent when she went to school in the South. College shapes you
Starting point is 01:02:16 and it definitely shaped you. And then we even started doing like two-stepping and stuff. Maybe we'll have to go out in two-step while we're in Nashville. I'm sure there's a good like dance hall that we could go to and dance. I'm sure there's a good like dance hall that we could go to and dance. I'm sure there's a million and it'll be really fun. We're decent dancers, but two-stepping is never something I got good at though. Oh, I would look like a total doofus trying to two-step.
Starting point is 01:02:34 And it's really me like- I can do a line dance. I feel like those will be fun. And I feel like TikTok has made line dances even bigger. Really? Line dancing is big on TikTok these days? I think, I don't know. I don't have TikTok, but that's what I heard. I had a friend who went out recently and she said it was like all TikTok line dances.
Starting point is 01:02:49 And then she didn't know any of them. Yeah, she's like, we should brush up. What I want to do when we're in Nashville, I want to go to like the, is it called Broadway? Is that the main road where there's all the live music and the bars and stuff. And I kind of want to experience that that which I think would be neat. That would be really fun. It'd be cool if we went on one of those party buses. That scares me. It is a little crazy. It seems fun but like I don't know I get really overwhelmed with drunk people like I'm weary of them. Maybe we like only stay out till 10 because I feel like if you stay out super late it's probably going be a lot of as late as I want to say that 10 o'clock 10 o'clock is the new 1 a.m
Starting point is 01:03:28 Yeah, it really is and we are waking up with the kids in the morning. So it's kind of like it really is the new 1 a.m Yeah Then I got is the new one yet. I Need to go to bed at 10 p.m. Or else I'm just my body is ready to go to sleep then. Well, very, very excited for the changes that are coming. Thank you to everyone that's been here since the beginning. So like we're so, so thankful and grateful. Not just since the beginning, you've just started joining us too. Thank you. Yeah. And then yeah, exactly. To the new people too. We're so happy to help have you and welcome. We're stoked that you're here. So nice here. We can't wait for the guests to come to the studio.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Yeah. You're welcome to come here. Drop a comment if you've listened to every single episode. I wonder how many people have listened to every single one. That'll be crazy.
