Starting point is 00:00:00 I have veneers now. She got some big, pearly whites. Your teeth are bigger. You are? Why are you doing your face like that? I'm sorry, I was about to burp. I deleted TikTok, which by the way, I feel like a new person for doing that.
Starting point is 00:00:11 It's completely off your phone. It's great, but I shouldn't probably advertise that. That is our- That's our job. I've seen article after article about how any amount of alcohol is bad for you. New and dry January, I'm not drinking at all for the month of January.
Starting point is 00:00:25 I'm doing wet January. Abby has started to drink in January. It's really scary when the doctor tells you your baby has RSV. When your kid's hurting, that hurts you so much more, then it's probably bothering them, honestly. What's up, dudes? What's up, dudes? And welcome back to the unplanned podcast. Are you tired? I don't know. What's wrong, dudes? And welcome back to the unplanned podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Are you tired? I don't know. What's wrong with me? You're busy on. I know. I'm always tired. And today was the day that you had to sleep in, which, how was that?
Starting point is 00:00:55 How did it feel? It's never as stressful as you think it is. It's funny. The one day, okay, so like we alternate days that we get up with our boys. And today, I got lucky because the boys slept in till 745 Which was no they did not argue woke up at 5 a.m. And then you fed him and then I put him back to bed What did you take in 20 minutes 25 minutes?
Starting point is 00:01:17 525 we probably went back to yeah 525 went back to sleep and then Yeah, then our oldest woke up at 74545, so I got some good sleep today. It always happens that way, doesn't it feel like that? Like, I know how you feel. Yeah, you feel like you get gyps, like on the days that you want them to sleep in, they don't sleep in and the days that you don't care, then you sleep in. It's a good set of though, but just the fault in it
Starting point is 00:01:41 is that I have to feed the baby. So then, like, when I woke up, I was like, he's already late for eating. So I need to get up. It would be way easier to divide the workload evenly between the kids. If we just bottle fed only it would be so much easier. But I know that breastfeeding is really important to you. By the way, when are you going to give that up? I guess how long do you think you're going to do it?
Starting point is 00:02:03 Honestly, like to be completely honest, I don? How long do you think you're gonna do it? Honestly, to be completely honest, I don't think our baby loves breastfeeding that much. So, I don't know, it might be shorter than with our first, but I also know that breastfeeding got so much easier once solids were introduced with our first. That was just our experience. So maybe once he starts solids, he's literally ready to start solids now.
Starting point is 00:02:23 If he takes to solids really well, then I could continue to nurse until he's won. And then, yeah, that would be cool. Only problem those when you nurse third one, then I think you're more locked down. I feel like it's, oh,
Starting point is 00:02:35 then I become more relaxed with it though, because I'm like, I don't, like I could pump or I could, you know, it just becomes like a lot more relaxing. What's nice, I think you, mentally, didn't you like stop physically breastfeeding Griffin? Like a couple months before he was one, but you had so much supply built up in the freezer. Yeah, yeah, like all the supply you had in the freezer
Starting point is 00:02:54 was able to last him. So he was one. Yeah, I will tell you, I feel like it is talked about, but I still was shocked by it when we had babies was the mental load of breastfeeding. It's just it's a lot because you're the sole feeder and then when you're waiting maybe you still have to think about pumping and then do you have enough milk storage to get you through till the end or how's the milk going to stay cold and how like it's just it's so surprising because I know it probably sounds like to people that haven't gone through it like I feel like something I'm like, oh yeah, that's a lot but like to actually go through it is a lot. Yeah, but you know
Starting point is 00:03:32 We do it for our babies and I love him and I don't want to complain because I know it's just a short amount of time And I'm really thankful but at the same time it is really difficult. Yeah I had a question for you and I literally completely forgot it. My brain started. Also, can I give a side note? If you're watching on YouTube and I'm not like turning to Face MatVroom, but I tweet my neck.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So, I have to tweet her neck. She can't, this happens. I think that's why I was talking to her for a long time. Yeah, Abby cannot move her neck to the left. So it's like stuck in place. And the past, you've gone to the chiropractor before to help fix it. I know that's kind of've gone to the Chiropractor before to help fix it. I know that's kind of controversial
Starting point is 00:04:06 with if the Chiropractor is good, or not for fixing things like that. I think it's good. But it's work for you in the past. So that's why I think it's good. Aren't there horse stories of people getting paralyzed and stuff? Like they literally,
Starting point is 00:04:17 Parallelized. Parallelized said that really weird. Parallelized. That's funny. I feel like that's from a Disney movie or something. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I've had a great experience, so I believe in them.
Starting point is 00:04:33 But I will say, it doesn't happen a couple times a year. I haven't had this happen since I had babies. It's so funny, too. Your head just frozen and you turn and your whole body moves. I have the most frustrating. Rather than turning your head, your whole entire body has to move. You shift your feet. It's so funny to your head just like frozen and you turn and your whole body moves rather than turning your head your whole With our body has to move like you like shift your feet. It's hilarious. I don't realize I'm doing it But I'm just looking at me right now. I guess your bodies move towards me. I'm more stuck this way than this way anywhere
Starting point is 00:04:59 It does what I say the first thing is I didn't literally anything. Like it just like as I was standing there holding our baby, I was like, oh, oh, oh, like I felt it. Like I think it's a pinch nerve. I really don't know what that even means, but it just, it's painful and it's more so just annoying. That sucks. I've had that happen to me once before, really, really bad on a cruise.
Starting point is 00:05:20 And I got a deep tissue massage to try to fix the pinch nerve or whatever. And let me tell you, the deep tissue massage that I had was the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life. I don't know why people get massages. Like, I've never gotten a massage since it was horrible. This lady was like basically jumping up and down on my back. Why don't I feel like I would like that?
Starting point is 00:05:40 I like a very firm massage. It was very aggressive. She was a little bitty woman and she was going to work on my back. Stuff was popping that I didn't know could pop. It would pay people. I like that. I thought my arms were going to rip off.
Starting point is 00:05:52 She was like boom, boom, boom. After all, did you feel really good? No, I felt horrible. I felt like, okay, so you know, you go way too hard in the gym and then your whole body is sore for a week and you can hardly move. That's what happened to me. Okay, it was like that.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I felt like it worked out. I probably burned some calories from how aggressive that thing was. I told you, I think when you have a pension, you're supposed to do gentle massages, Matt. That's why I signed up for a massage early right after we filmed this. But I told you I was like, I don't think the massage is going to do Jack Squat. I think you should just go to a chiropractor because that's actually my favorite. I can't find a chiropractor in the matter of 24 hours but I can find a massage. That's true.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Maybe we should talk around to our friends and see if anybody- I don't know if they got a gift card from your mom for Christmas. That's very nice. That was nice for mom. That was nice for mom. Because when I googled it,
Starting point is 00:06:33 it literally did say gentle massages. So I was like, okay, and I put my firmness, I put gentle. I hope it fixes it. I really don't think it's gonna fix your neck though. Okay. I took a bath last night and that alone made it feel better. It didn't fix it, just felt better in the moment. Oh, you should do it, you should take more baths.
Starting point is 00:06:48 You should do it. Like, it was to do hot and cold. I've been researching this. I said to take over the counter like pain medicines, that actually did not help me. Yeah. I just feel like I've a profen and a seed benefit and stuff like that don't work on me in general.
Starting point is 00:06:59 No, it's really only an exaggerant. My body doesn't tolerate it. Like when you get a migraine, the only thing that works for your migraine is exaggerant. That is it. Cause you took, you just had a migraine a the only thing that works for your migraine is exeterine. That is it. Cause you took, you just had a migraine a couple days ago. I also probably should get a prescription for migraines. Yeah, that would be, that would be good.
Starting point is 00:07:11 But exeterine works though. We should have a doctor on this podcast cause I feel like we're saying a lot of things. And that's true. And I feel like it's not wasted any actual. No, I'm actually, we had somebody reach out. That was like a marriage therapist. And I thought it'd be so cool to have them on.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Oh, comment down below if you want to see us have live marriage. That sounds really healthy. No, no, no, not for us, like just to talk about therapy for marriage in general. But I think it'd be fun to have expert people on to talk about things. Whether it's an expert marriage therapist, maybe somebody who talks about money because I think marriage and finances really go hand in hand, they Ramsey would be a really fun guest. We're shooting a shot right now Dave.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Working a little sidetrack. I wanted to know. Oh wait no I want to, I want to elaborate on that. I think it's really important that we have experts on here. I do feel like people look to social media to find answers for things. I do it myself. Yeah. And there's no
Starting point is 00:08:06 credibility necessarily like there's very credible people online, but there's no like expectation of credibility when it comes to online posting so like people could look to us and be like oh that's how it's supposed to be like if you have back pain you gotta go take a bath. Yeah, and like there's no actual like I'm just a random person I did Google So to your point I agree with you. Thank you. My question were you gonna ask me? I wanted to like switch gears to the fact that our whole family is currently sick I think we're getting over it. You're you're feeling a lot better. I'm better. It's been rough the holidays wrecked us, you know, to
Starting point is 00:08:45 say the least. Yeah, it was inevitable, honestly. Yeah. Like I, it's hard because you see all these things that kind of make like, in turn, it kind of made me feel really guilty when our kids got sick because I was like, man, I should have been the one to prevent this. I should have just, I thought of all the things I should have done differently. And then I just realized I cannot keep our kids in prevent this. I should have just, I thought of all the things I should have done differently. And then I just realized I cannot keep our kids in a bubble. I can do everything in my power that's reasonable to make them be able to be in a social atmosphere
Starting point is 00:09:15 and protect them. And because I just don't, it's not worth saying like, oh, we can't see our family or we can't travel to see them or. Exactly. Or that. And I mean, because they're healthy kids, now that would probably be different if they had something else.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Yeah. Going on health wise, but yeah, we're making it through. I felt guilty for a little bit that it happened, but then I also know that it's not in my control. Well, the thing is, I didn't choose for them to get sick. It's not like we're traveling and seeing family when we have a one month old or a baby that's a couple weeks old.
Starting point is 00:09:48 We have a baby that's nearly five months old. We have a one and a half year old. So they're past the time of where it's scary if they get sick. This portion of today's episode is sponsored by Caraway Home. Nothing will make you more excited to cook more meals at home in 2024, which I'm sure that's a lot of people's resolution
Starting point is 00:10:06 is to cook more meals at home. I know that's always the goal of ours. Nothing will make you more excited. I swear, then nice kitchenware. Yes, the carroway home kitchenware you guys, I use it every single morning when I cook my son, breakfast, it is the best. It's great.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Eggs don't get stuck on the pan. I put a tiny bit of butter down and it just comes right off. It has ceramics naturally slick surface, means minimal oil or butter for side off the pan, eggs and easy cleaning. Nothing's more frustrating when you have a pan that stuff won't come off of. Like when it is infuriating.
Starting point is 00:10:38 It drives me crazy. It's just, I feel, I can sleep better at night, knowing that Carreyway home has got me covered. Because it's so nice. It's so nice. But you just turn the pan upside down and boom, eggs fall right off. There's like no residue left.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Yes, and it's the best. What's good is that it's also non-toxic because a lot of like pans that do that, exactly the thing, what do they call that non-stick. It has a lot of toxic stuff in it, but Carrier products are made without any toxic materials, like PFAS, PTFE, PFAA, PF-A, or other heart-pronounce chemicals. Clearly I can't get it out there.
Starting point is 00:11:07 If you can't pronounce it, then you probably don't want it in your cooking. You probably don't want to eat food off of that. I also love how aesthetic they are. They look so freaking cute. Very arbeauty. We have the sage green kind with the old accent. I almost want to just show it off in our kitchen, because it just looks so aesthetic. I can't tell you how much I love the Canterbury Homes cookware. You will not be disappointed by them.
Starting point is 00:11:29 What's great is that you can visit CarawayHome.com slash unplanned to take advantage of this limited time offer 4-10% off your next purchase. The steel is exclusive for our listeners, so visit CarawayHome.com slash unplanned or use code unplanned to check out Caraway non-toxic cookware made monitor. Thank you, Caraway Homes now back to the episode. And sure, it's still scary if you're, you know, four months, almost five month old, get sick, but at the same time, like, you can't just not live your life. You can't just stay home all the time and skip family
Starting point is 00:11:59 Christmas, skip new years, not see your family. When we went to Montana, they literally stayed in the house the entire time We're there like it's not what they're out and about exactly our boy, so didn't leave the house Yeah, and that was when they actually got to yeah, so which was really sad and it's just it's unexplainable like why these things happen But thank goodness and never got serious and for us it especially wasn't serious But for it was scary for the baby, but he was just fine. He was always... Well, it's really scary when the doctor tells you your baby has RSV and all over the news, it's like, RSV is big this year and you know, you hear about babies even die of
Starting point is 00:12:35 RSV, so it's like, it's really, really scary when you take your baby to the doctor and you're told that. What was that like? How did you feel when the doctor told you that our four-month-old, I can see him I could see that he was doing all right so it would have probably been more alarming if he was having difficulty breathing or anything like that like they were checking his oxygen it was like a hundred and it was the nose 98 like his he was doing all right so I think it would have been more scary if I could see him and be like, okay, this isn't good.
Starting point is 00:13:05 But just the words R is be more scary because I was hospitalized with it as a baby. Yeah. And I know that you were hospitalized for a similar illness. Oh my gosh, yeah. We were both hospitalized as babies for illnesses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I think I got a shot in my head or something. My parents told me that I had like shots. I had to get a spinal tap. Wow. As a tiny infant. That's really sad. And I mean, that's a painful thing. God.
Starting point is 00:13:27 So that was sad for my parents. And yeah, I think that this is just part of parenthood that sucks because like when your kids hurting that hurts you so much more, then it's probably bothering them, honestly, just to watch them go through it. But he really wasn't hurting. That's the thing. He was smiling at the doctor's office when he has been giving his diagnosis.
Starting point is 00:13:48 He was so happy that that gave me a shirt. And it says, Mom, everything is gonna be okay. He's all right. He's not even really understanding that he's uncomfortable. Like he was smiling and laughing. Yeah, I first started noticing symptoms.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Our first day of vacation with Abby's family, Oggy was coughing and sneezing, and you could see like, it's not, he ran out of his nose. Which by the way, like, our toddler, I feel like he's always sick. He always has a runny nose. He's always coughing, so I'm like, for sure,
Starting point is 00:14:15 our toddler. Our toddler for sure got our new, our, yeah, he did. Four month old sick. That like, I have no doubt in my mind. No, this, he did. In between like, coughs and sneezes, he's like laughing and smiling at me.
Starting point is 00:14:27 So that made me feel really good. But I totally know how you feel, because it was scary. Like it scared me when I noticed, like when I hold the ogi and I can feel the congestion and it's just and you can feel the rattling, it's really scary and I kept thinking, I wanted to take him to the doctor the first day
Starting point is 00:14:42 that I noticed symptoms, but then some of our family members were like, well, I mean, this stuff happens, like I don't think you need to take him to the doctor the first day that I noticed symptoms, but then some of our family members were like, well, I mean, this stuff happens. Like, I don't think you need to take him in right now. And the thing is, is it does happen. And so it's hard to know when to take them in. And the thing about RSV, I feel like a lot of times we go with fever as like a reason to know
Starting point is 00:15:00 that time to take him in. But RSV, they don't get a fever usually. No, that was the other thing. He didn't have a fever at all. He had no temperature. So with no temperature, I thought, okay, maybe this is just a little cold. And you know, it's better safe than sorry though,
Starting point is 00:15:13 and I'm glad we did take them in. It was never very serious, but I'm glad that we had eyes on it. Yeah, but it's weird that they couldn't even do anything though. Like he has an ear infection, and so they could give him some medicine for that, but for the actual RSV, they couldn't do anything. I mean, they gave him a breathing treatment and I actually think that it helped even though the doctor
Starting point is 00:15:31 told me I was like, or she told me a shoe said, I don't think this is gonna do anything, but we're gonna try. And I was like, okay, I actually did help loosen up his congestion. So there's little things that they can do, obviously if it's very serious, then they will hospitalized them
Starting point is 00:15:47 and put them on like assisted oxygen. But that was never necessary or even close to being necessary. So we're really, really thankful for that. So anyone that if you have sick babies or not, I feel like everyone has sick children right now because it's so many things are going around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:02 I feel for you. I've known a lot of people, a lot of people, like friends, people that even work for us have been sick. So yeah, I mean, there's a lot of stuff going around, especially like January just seems like the time of year that everyone gets sick. It is. January is the worst month of the year.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I honestly will stand by that. It's funny. When our whole entire family got sick right away, like just as a joke, I was like, I blame my brother, because three years ago, when we got COVID, it was from my brother, at Christmas time. And you got sick last Christmas too.
Starting point is 00:16:35 And this Christmas. Yeah, my brother's always sick during the holidays. It's always a college case. We need to freaking keep my kids away from my brother because he's gonna get a solid sick. No, not his fault. Can you breathe out your nose? Cause I still can't really away from my brother. Cause he's gonna get a salsa. No, not his fault. Can you breathe out your nose? Cause I still can't really breathe out my nose.
Starting point is 00:16:48 I have one nostril is clear, one and the other one's not. I have a big nose so I can breathe great through it. There's lots of space. This one's completely clogged up. You always have something. My, I can, like I literally have to tape my mouth shut so that I can't breathe out my nose at night. Matt, that's bad cause if your nose is clogged
Starting point is 00:17:04 you're gonna just self-cate yourself in the night. I, that's bad because if your nose is clogged, you're gonna just self-gate yourself in the night. I, that, well, sometimes I have to take the tape off because I'm like, I literally can't breathe. I can't breathe out my nose. Guys, Matt literally tapes his mouth closed every single night. It's weird, I know. And he kisses me with his taped up lips
Starting point is 00:17:19 and it feels really creepy. And especially when I put like Vaseline on my face, you know, just to, just to try to keep my skin and get in dry skin Not in a normal way. I'll load up my hands with Vaseline. You're moved up. I'll put I'll put tape on my mouth and I'm like, goodnight honey. Give you a kiss. It's it's pretty It's pretty funny. It's pretty sexy. It's really the word for it Of course. Yeah, I truly think January is the longest month of the year It's even cold here in Arizona. Like I forget that it gets cold here. It's 40 degrees outside. It's 40 degrees outside right now What the heck we live in Arizona where it's supposed to be hot and sunny?
Starting point is 00:17:53 It's not 40 it literally I will show you right now I didn't I wasn't take the kids outside for a walk this morning and it was way too cold So I didn't probably has got a little bit warmer. Okay now it's 48. Oh wow 48 degrees That is really cold. I don't want Probably has got a little bit warmer. Okay, now it's 48. Oh wow, 48 degrees. That is really cold. I don't want to go outside when it's 48. That's good though, because now we know that it's wintertime. Unless it's snowing. If it's snowing and it's below freezing, I don't care. Like that completely changes everything. And that's why we should move to Utah. Okay. Okay, man. Today's episode is sponsored by Dreamland Baby. You guys, this is probably one of our favorite products ever. Our kids have been using it for like the entirety of their lives.
Starting point is 00:18:28 It has been on the top five list of best products. And it helps our kids sleep so much better at night. Exactly. Not things more infuriating than like when you're trying to get sleep as a parent and then your baby can't sleep and then you can't sleep and then everyone's upset. But like, what if there's a solution to helping your baby sleep better at night and then you also sleep better at night? Hello, Dreamland baby.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Truthfully, you guys, like if we're out and about and our son has to take a nap, we always make sure we bring it. Like that's how, it's not even just like an at home thing. It's like whenever he takes a nap, he needs that. Whenever we're on a plane, he needs that. Both of our boys, because they have one that has a swaddle and they have another one that's for toddlers.
Starting point is 00:19:06 And they are incredible. The gently weighted sleep sacs actually hold up really well in the wash every once in a while. They'll have a little accident in the sleep sacs and you just turn them in the washing machine. Yeah, quite often. I mean, we have a one and a half year old and a five month old, so like that.
Starting point is 00:19:21 You can poop and spit up, it's just a common thing. But you just turn them in the washing machine, like good asold, so like that. You can poop and spit up. It's just a common thing. But you just turn on the wash machine, like good as new. It's awesome. They have gotten so much use in our house, and they will continue to get used. They are truly the best, and they have great two-way zippers. It's great for nighttime diaper changes. It has, basically, if you don't know,
Starting point is 00:19:39 it's gently weighted on the top, so your babies can still move around. They can stand up even, roll around, but it's just enough to kind of make them feel like they're getting a nice cozy hug all night and it's like calms them down. It's called cover calm technology and it's evenly distributed weight from shoulders to toes, which is exclusive to the dreamland baby products. You cannot give a better gift to a new parent than the gift of extra sleep.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Get it for your friends. Or if you're about to have a baby put it on your registry, like people will get it for you. Like people love you and they will get that for you because they care about you. It's an investment, but it is truly the best investment you can make, honestly. Go to dreamlandbabycode.com and enter our code
Starting point is 00:20:19 unplanned all caps that check out to receive 20% off site-wide plus free shipping. This offer is for new and existing customers. Thank you, Dreamland, baby. And now back to the episode. By the way, your smile looks beautiful. Can I see those pearly whites? Wow, show the camera, smile to the camera.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Holy crap, they look so good. I feel like I can elaborate on this decision more on the podcast than I can, like on Instagram or anything like that. Okay. But it was something. Which by the way, let's just say, I have veneers now. Abby got veneers.
Starting point is 00:20:51 She got some big pearly whites. Wow. Big. No, your teeth are bigger. They are. They've been shaped. Why are you doing your face like that? I'm sorry, I was about to burp and I was like trying to.
Starting point is 00:21:02 It's really weird. I'm so sorry about that. I'm really, I apologize. That was sort of like a woman to burp and I was like trying to. Weird. I'm so sorry about that. I'm really apologised. I'm also like. Holden a burp and he was scaring me. And I also can't breathe out my nose so it's like it's really weird. My nose is too connected. I don't know why it's connected but it was throwing me off. Anyway, I was overthinking the heck out of this decision because I mean I just want to
Starting point is 00:21:21 be very very mindful about any decision I make that is a permanent change on my body. And I think that's a good thing in general to have. And so I thought about it for years, actually. And in my mind, I was putting it in the same box as plastic surgery, which I'm not totally against. I'm definitely not against it in general, but I just didn't know about my opinions on it for me personally.
Starting point is 00:21:46 And then I was like, wait, I don't think teeth should be in the same category as plastic surgery. And when I made that distinction, it was no brainer for me that this was something I wanted to move forward with. Yeah, I just want to be really mindful about it because it's a huge decision for a lot of reasons. The cost of a year is very high. And you kept asking me about it. You wanted me to make the decision for you. And I was like, whoa, this is not my decision to make. This is your decision.
Starting point is 00:22:13 But then you kept asking me and asking me. And I was like, are you asking me because you're worried about what people might think? If you get veneers, was that the reason that you were so interested in what I thought? That was honestly probably a big part of it. Because you didn't want it to be perceived in the wrong way. You didn't want people to think, oh, now she's, she thinks she's better than everyone.
Starting point is 00:22:32 No, we're not on that. I don't think that they would think that, but they said it. Or just like trying to adhere to an unattainable, standard. Yeah. You need to standard and so that word you, because you don't want to. Like, I'm sure it's the same with boob jobs like I'm sure some women are hesitant to get those even if they really want it because they don't want to keep pushing this yeah this beauty standard that isn't like natural essentially right because to have perfect teeth and to have the perfect boobs and the perfect
Starting point is 00:23:01 but like people get worked on. That just think it's a slippery slope. Like, you're right. Getting any kind of work done in general, it's not that I'm against it. I think that I'm more for like, for me personally evaluating the reasons behind it. Like, is this, I don't know, I don't know if I have the right words to say
Starting point is 00:23:20 about my view on it, but. I think, okay, I think it's about confidence. Yeah. And look, I think, I think it's about confidence. Yeah. And look, I think, I think your confidence, I think it's better if your confidence can come from non-physical changes in yourself, but I will tell you, like when I had braces in high school, I was so much more confident once I got my braces off.
Starting point is 00:23:39 I just felt better. I felt like a new person. I was happy that I had straight teeth and I was insecure and the way that my teeth looked before. It was really nice to have that done. And we have a friend who for the same reasons got veneers. Unlike you and our friend, my teeth are not an insecurity of mine. I knew they weren't perfect. I'd never had any orthodontic work done and never had braces, retainer, anything. It was never anything, like I knew they weren't perfect, but I wasn't even close to insecure about it.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Like I was like, oh, they're just my teeth. But what I saw, when I saw what it could look like, I have always admired people with great teeth. Like you, I always tell you, like you have amazing teeth. I love your teeth. And so when I saw that I could have teeth like that, I was like, wow, that would be really cool. And it's crazy that something I've learned through this experience is that I didn't have to be insecure about it for it to build my confidence. And now I just want to talk
Starting point is 00:24:38 more. I want to smile more. I want to show off my teeth. And it's just really cool what it can do and I think for a lot of people it could really change their life doing something like this and basically I just didn't want to be out of touch because I know that this was this is a the years are pricey and I just didn't want to be like thinking that this is a decision I could make all Willie Nilly, you know? And I literally did just say Willie Nilly. You did just say that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Being that's a cool word. I think that I was very thoughtful about the process and I really am very happy with how it turns out and ultimately it is a personal decision. But because we have a lot of eyes on us, I wanted to be additionally more thoughtful about it. So that was my major hesitation too. And you were beautiful before, but it's like, it's the same you, but then even elevated. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:25:34 So I like, I like the way that you look, but I also want to emphasize the fact that this was like a decision that you made for yourself and it wasn't it wasn't something that I I don't know I just think that's like no you said the whole time you're like you just decide what you want to do I'm like you I like your smile either way like you weren't brushing me at all and I think that's I wanted you to have like a strong opinion that's why I kept asking you I wanted you to have a strong opinion because I was so on the fence about it yeah but I will say I went to smiles of Chandler with Dr. Heaton
Starting point is 00:26:06 and he gave me so much assurance through the whole process because my, first of all my teeth, I would say, look very natural. They look like my own teeth just enhanced in a slight way that makes a large overall difference on my smile. Just like slightly elongating some and reshaping another, just it made such a huge difference. But the other thing that's really cool about Dr. Heathen's veneers that he does
Starting point is 00:26:33 is that he does no prep or nearly no prep veneers, meaning that you're teeth are not getting shaved down to those terrifying nubs that I think we've all seen pictures of, I don't know, I feel like people go to Turkey or other countries and get like More affordable veneers and then they're teeth are like wrecked My natural teeth are completely intact underneath these super super super thin ceramic veneers so
Starting point is 00:27:00 Or is it porcelain? I think it's porcelain Yeah, they just go on top of Abby's teeth and with no prep veneers They don't have to shave your teeth down at all now Abby did have to have her teeth shaved down very minimally Not shake down just reshaped on the sides. Yeah, so she can take off the mirrors today And her teeth would look completely normal. It would be back to I can't take them off. Oh, yeah, they are permanent You would have to move and I can go back to my nap. They get cemented on there. It's literally cement. Yeah, these things aren't going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:27:29 It was hilarious because for two weeks Abby had on these temporary veneers to make sure that it was the decision she wanted to go through. With temporary veneers, she could only eat soft food. All through Christmas and New Year is in all the holidays. They're actually not new years, but just through Christmas time New Year is in like all the holidays. Or actually, no, not New Year's, but just through Christmas time, Abby could only eat mac and cheese. She could only eat like soup, protein shakes. And so that was, I'm surprised you did that during the holidays. That sucked. Like you couldn't have pie. You couldn't have good desserts.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yeah. So really sent it. That having the temps really solidified my decision. Because even before, when I first had the temps on, I was like, oh, I really like them. But I don't know, it's a big difference. But then after I had them on for that amount of time, I was like, there is no way I would choose to go back to what my teeth looked like before.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Because I just, in that two-week span, I was so happy to take pictures and I've always been hesitant, or not hesitant about taking pictures. Something I've done since honestly high school, I feel like, I don't know what made me make this decision back then, but whenever people take a picture, they do want to check it and see if you like it, I'm always like, no, because I don't want to sit there and just study and analyze myself. I just want to capture how I looked at that moment and I don't I don't know people I think otherwise you end up retaking pictures anyway That was just decision I made in high school and now I'm like I love every single picture
Starting point is 00:28:55 Like I just I don't know That's weird. They're just making me feel like a lot more confident. Sorry. I excited about 2024, new year new smile. Yeah, I love this. What would you say about the process of it all? How was it more than you expected? Was it less than what you expected? You know, I really didn't know a lot about the process going in.
Starting point is 00:29:18 That's how I kind of go into a lot of things. I like to just go in blindly. Yeah. That's probably bad advice, but for me, I'm like, let's just figure it out as we go. That's true, that's literally us with everything. Moving, we just kind of send it and just move. I like doing it that way.
Starting point is 00:29:34 It is kind of fun to live life on the edge, like, isn't it? Where you just don't know. You don't know, you don't know. And that way, all the things that could go wrong, you're not aware of them. And so with birth, you're in the hospital, so you're like, hey, somebody here knows what to do. I'm hoping, so.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I don't really think that's a great way to go about things, but it does. But that's the way that we do it. Helping go through with like, I'm so calm with things. Yeah. Like I literally, they, should I say this? So they actually, for the process of veneers, you go in basically, there's two major days
Starting point is 00:30:04 that you go in, two weeks apart, four weeks apart, it can kind of range. But they actually prescribe you an anti-anxiety medicine. Because people get so nervous at the dentist. Yes, did you just do? I didn't, it was my leg. Hear that? That's how it is. It was my leg on the couch. I did not fart. I think you did. I did not, too. I didn't, it was my leg. Hear that? That's how it sounded like. It was my leg on the couch. I did not fart.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I think you did. I did not, too. I promise you I did not. If I did, I would totally admit to it, because that would be hilarious. If I accidentally farted on the podcast, I would claim it. Have you ever farted on the podcast? I don't think I have, have you?
Starting point is 00:30:38 I feel like you probably have. When you're pregnant, especially, I feel like you might have let one slip. Yeah, do we have that on recording? I don't even know Here's our silent but deadly like I just I'll be in bed and I'm just lay in there I think it's because of the underwear and I'll smell something. Oh my gosh. Yes, the underwear it like it's like a little string That just like chops the fart and have and you can't even smell it. Well, you wear it wrong So it's gonna be like a string
Starting point is 00:31:01 But and then I'll be laying there and then the smell will just come right to my nose all All of a sudden. I love that. Yes, and what's funny is you end up crop dusting me and other people and you dutch oven me all the time On our bed like it'll it'll just like get sit underneath the covers and then make it to my face That's what four and a half years of marriage will do to you Just got to they smell so bad, but I think it's funny. I think it's hilarious. I don't like it. I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:31:28 I'm not a guest. When you fart, it's funny. I'm not a guest queen, but sometimes it just happens. Okay. It's sad. You know what's sad about marriages? I don't know why. I thought we were closer than this,
Starting point is 00:31:38 but now you've got to the point where you shut the door when you're pooping. We can't even tell. I just want to have a conversation with you. I still talk to you. I would love to just converse while you're on the toilet, but it's like oh no, I have to have the door shut It's like I literally have seen you birth are children. I've seen so much like you've been there You can poop and talk to me at the same time. I do but I just decide that I want to have a little privacy during that time
Starting point is 00:31:59 You know some couples don't even fart in front of each other. Yeah, like let's move towards that That's pretty weird. I think that's a little weird. Like you're with a person that knows you better than anybody else in the world and you can't even fart in front of them. Maybe this one would have maintained some sexiness around. I don't know. I mean, I think that is sexy. It's like you know me more than anybody.
Starting point is 00:32:18 So I feel comfortable. Wow. Now that I know that, I'm'm just gonna eat beans every night. I know. You should. You should. Well, they're talking about, oh, they prescribe anxiety medicine. Anti-inx... I don't... basically, a medicine that's supposed to just keep you really calm. And I took it the first time I went and I think it's great for the people that need it, but I just realized I probably didn't need that.
Starting point is 00:32:44 And it should's really sleepy with Which having two babies. I was like I don't need to be any more sleepy in my life And I also wanted to drive a vehicle after the appointment Yeah, second time I didn't take it and I felt the exact same and I think that's because like it's just not a scary process This portion of the episode is sponsored by loome. Let's start off 2024 fresh, you guys. I, honestly, I'm not even slightly ashamed to admit it, I'm a sweater. Yeah, I'm literally sweating right now.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Why? I've been moving around and I'm sweating through my clothes. Can I ask did you put deodorant on this morning? I actually did put on deodorant. Oh, okay, good. That makes it sound like I never wear deodorant. I think you could be a little bit more on top of that. Everyone's in a while, you know, I'll skip.'s wall. Okay, well, let's skip a day with
Starting point is 00:33:27 loomy. Loomy, Deodorant has you covered from your pits to your privates to your feet. Yes. Wow. Really? That's very convenient. Loomy is a game-changing whole-body deodorant designed by an OBGYN to work not only on pits, but also on feet, privates, and everywhere else we get odor. What's really cool about Lumi is that it's formulated and powered by mandolin acid. Matt, do you know what mandolin acid is? I do not.
Starting point is 00:33:52 It basically stops odor before it starts. So it's like a pre-odorant. That's nice. So you're taking it on top of the stink. Yeah, preventative measures for your sweat. Exactly. It's clinically proven to control odor better than a shower or with soap alone. 12 hours after a shower, the average person has an odor level of 6 out of 10. Yikes. I would say you air more on the
Starting point is 00:34:13 side of 10. Ouch. Lumi, the average odor level is a zero out of 10. Thank you, Lumi. Lumi's starter pack is honestly perfect for if you haven't used any of their products yet. It gets you a little bit of everything. It's perfect for new customers. It comes with a solid stick diodorant, cream tube diodorant, two free products of your choice, like a mini body wash and diodorant wipes, which those are great by the way. I keep those in my car after the gym, just do a little wipey wipe and it's like your freshest fresh and free shipping. As a special offer for listeners, new customers get five dollars off a loomie starter pack with code unplanned at loomie deodorant.com. That equates to over 40% off your starter pack when you visit loomie deodorant.com and use code unplanned.
Starting point is 00:34:51 That's a good deal. Thank you loomie. Now back to the episode. say weird things and I couldn't help it. Yeah. We know with friends afterwards. And I was like, I don't try. They were saying something serious. And I was about to laugh. I never can. You were oddly calm. It was crazy how calm it made you, Abby,
Starting point is 00:35:15 because in the car, just for a little bit, our baby was crying in the back seat. And you were very calm through it. And I was like, well, I was like, wow, this is actually kind of nice. Like, you were very relaxed in the situation. And I like, wow, this is actually kind of nice. Like, you were very relaxed in the situation. And I'm not going to be in crisis time. You take it out on me.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Usually, and I'm like, so in the car, you were just so calm to that whole situation. And it was interesting to see what that was like. I don't want to do it again. But then, yeah, you hate medicine. So I don't blame you for wanting to I didn't need it because it was just a very like honestly minimal process because they're not Shaping your teeth down or shaving your teeth down in nubs like they're just it's very minimal and then
Starting point is 00:36:00 They glue on it's crazy Can I just say how I think you're so tough for the things that you do? Yeah. Thank you. Because you're over here, you go get it to get the veneers on, which because they're putting some ends on your teeth and putting these pieces of porcelain
Starting point is 00:36:20 on your teeth and shaping them and all that. Wow, I really need to take some medicine. My nose is so clogged. But you're going through all this process and the fact that you didn't take the medicine the second time and you just sent it. I honestly think I don't experience pain in the same level as most people do.
Starting point is 00:36:39 You think so? I don't think I do. I don't think it's because I'm mentally tough because I know I'm mentally not tough. I think physically I don't feel as much pain as other people. No, I think you're mentally really tough. No, I'm not. I have mentally bad luck.
Starting point is 00:36:52 No, it's different. I think because you know how in Mario Kart, when you're picking out your car, you have the strengths and the weaknesses of every single car, and it has speed and traction, and all the different things. I think if we're looking at you as like a Mario Kart card, okay?
Starting point is 00:37:10 Yeah, the bolt bike is pretty fire, but I think you as far as like taking pain and like physically hard things, I think you're incredibly strong. Oh yeah. But then I think as far as more like emotional things that aren't like pain related. That's like a one of my thoughts. I think that's where you cry like you break and that's like why we've had like half our podcast episodes where you cry
Starting point is 00:37:31 I think you're very emotional. No people actually think I'm like clinically depressed. No, you're not. No, I'm okay I just cry. I do just cry a lot and I think no, okay No, cuz I think I'm too much depression. I wear my emotions at 100% extra And I think it's cuz you're so empathetic. Thank you. I think you're very empathetic. I think that I am, and I appreciate you saying that, but I also think that it's a strength and a weakness.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Yeah, I mean, I think everything can be like that, though. Yeah, I trust me. I'm doing a lot better. I feel like I've tried a lot less these being four months postpartum. Yeah. The tears have postpartum. Yeah. The tears have gotten way less. Yeah, and I think we're finally out of the dark stages.
Starting point is 00:38:10 We're out of the dark place. Can we just give it up? We're out of the dark place. Not everyone gets in the dark place after having baby, but I feel like we know ourselves now. We get in dark place after baby. We do, we do. And it feels good to be on the other side.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Oh, yes. I feel so, I feel like we can do anything. I feel like our marriage is good. We're happy, we love each other. We've been going on dates. It's been so fun. Not to say that we didn't do dates during the dark times, but I think now that we did, we did.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Yeah, I guess they were. We literally went on a date, I think. Maybe I just couldn't enjoy them. Exactly, I think that's what it was. I think that's what it was. Figure of rain was thinking about the kids. But babies, I mean they are still, my brain is still thinking about the kids.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Okay, on our dates, you nights ago, was your brain thinking about the babies the whole time? No. No, wait, seriously? No, I knew they were asleep. Wait, welcome to my world. That's how I feel, because I'm like, I know in my head that my babies are taken care of.
Starting point is 00:39:03 They're taking care of. I know that your parents are good caretakers of our children when we're on a date. And so I wasn't worried that they were gonna do anything that was gonna put my children in danger. So I really, I was mentally free. My fear before was that like, I don't know, I feel like you're not gonna understand.
Starting point is 00:39:19 And also I would never have somebody watch my kid that I didn't trust. Like I wouldn't. For sure. I wanna make sure that people that are taking care of my children are good people. Baby babies can be finicky even with their parents. So that's why it's like, that's why I feel like I just want
Starting point is 00:39:35 to be there when they're so little. And that's a biological thing. Maybe part of the reason that we go into the dark place after having kids is because I think women, it might be a biological thing where like, but biologically your bent is to always think about your kids because in that ensures that they're being taken care of and that they're going to survive. And maybe it's more of like an evolutionary trait that's been built up over millions of years.
Starting point is 00:40:01 My eyes are incredible. Even like with animals, it makes me cry. When I think, oh gosh, we said we weren't gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. But when I see a mama bear get her cubs across the road, exactly. Oh, I just relate to that mama bear.
Starting point is 00:40:14 I just like gotta get a cross the road to the tree. Everyone in the line, I'm not gonna cry. I'm just like, everyone get in line. Watch out for cars. I was looking at you, and I was about to cry too. I was looking at you at the Wonka movie two nights ago when he could see his mom. Stop, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't. I'm more emotional now that I'm a father because I can so relate to seeing a relationship
Starting point is 00:40:48 of a mother and her child. I feel that with me and my kids. And I can see now why my dad has gotten so emotional as an old man because he's had his boys. Now he has grandkids and he loves his boys and his grandkids so much. And so I'm still not a very emotional person, but I'm way more emotional than I ever used to be.
Starting point is 00:41:08 But have you seen that video of the little kid? He, I think it was like a school performance of some sort. And his parent is recording him. And he's looking, you can see him like looking all through the bleachers for his mom and dad or mom or dad. And he's looking and looking and looking. And he starts to look kind of sad.
Starting point is 00:41:26 And then he finds his eyes meet the camera, which the person holding the camera is like his pair. And he lights up. And then he just kind of like continues on his way with like a little small smile, trying to play it cool. Like I see that it's so cute. And then the video where the grandma surprises the boy at his school lunch
Starting point is 00:41:47 He was so oh my gosh. It's just I love that and like we are those like really important people in our kids lives And it's like it's such an honor like Yeah, I love them so much and I'm so excited. I was the same way But then I I think when I got older if my parents were recording me when I was like a teenager, then I got embarrassed. Cause I didn't, and looking back, I'm like wow, so now looking back, I'm like that's so sweet. My parents were supportive enough to be there for me
Starting point is 00:42:16 and root me on. And so like looking back now, I can appreciate that. And it makes me love them so much more, just knowing how present and a part of my life they were. But as a teenager, it's so embarrassing sometimes if you're like 17 and you're performing and then your mom is the one with this care quarter. That way.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Yeah, I don't know. That's so cute. Yeah, I feel like you will get more emotional. Would you think you will reach the point of emotion of your father? I don't think I'll ever get there like my dad But I think I think I'm just more like my mom. I'm I get a lot of who I am from my mother. Mm-hmm. So Yeah, you're dad including my ADHD. I think my parents have ADHD I think they do and I think that they could I think they could be medicated and I think
Starting point is 00:43:02 They're gonna listen to this and text you they are my parents listen to our podcast I podcast. I think you told them this. Mom and dad, you should get evaluated for ADHD too. I'm gonna do it. I've been saying this for years and I haven't done it. My divorce is your year. 2024 is my year. I think that's probably the hardest for people with ADHD to get diagnosed because they have to buckle down and make it appointment. And that's what I can't do. Can you help me? Can you make my appointment for me? I think probably the most important. Can you please- Can you please- I think probably the most important. Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can you please- Can't do. Can you help me? Can you make my appointment for me? I think probably the most it be case is we'll go undiagnosed forever because they will have to make the appointment to see the doctor. Can you make my ADHD appointment for me please? I know. That's a new thing. If I have your permission, I will. Yes, of course. I'll make your- Thank you. I'm asking you too. That would be- Okay. That would be the best Christmas gift ever. I'm gonna get to your evaluated.
Starting point is 00:43:41 It's kinda sad that we take each other Christmas gifts. It is sad. You're not gift people. But we also like to travel. We do experiences instead. And we do experiences instead. So, and I think we're gonna go on another snowboarding trip here soon. So maybe that could be our Christmas gift we chose.
Starting point is 00:43:54 And you are? Oh, and you talk. I think we're gonna go to you, so. Okay, so I haven't seen before I deleted TikTok, which by the way, I feel like a new person for doing that, but I shouldn't. Wow, it's completely off your phone. Oh, it's gone. You don't have TikTok at all. deleted TikTok, which by the way, I feel like a new person for doing that, but I shouldn't. It's completely off your phone.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Oh, it's gone. You don't have TikTok at all. And when I need to do minor things for our occupation, I literally just grab your phone for a second. That's crazy. And I'm not scrolling. It's great, but I shouldn't probably advertise that because we have to take pictures. Because that's our job.
Starting point is 00:44:21 But I will say, as your friend, delete TikTok in 2024, you'll feel a million times better. But listen to our podcast. And you can even listen to it. Yeah, this is a podcast that's healthy. Actually, you can listen to our podcast on Spotify, on Apple Podcasts. I think there's even like an Amazon podcast platform,
Starting point is 00:44:36 which is nice. And you can just, you can have us in the background while you're like doing laundry or cooking dinner or something, or just driving to work. You can do that. If you're, if you're some of that watches or podcasts all the time, try listening to it instead and see how you like it more. See if you like the feeling of just having us in your ear
Starting point is 00:44:53 while you're folding clothes, or if you want to watch us and put us on the TV, that's cool too, because it feels like we're in the same room. Yeah. But I challenge you to listen to it. I can elaborate more on that decision later if that's something, but I don't really think that's important.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I respect that. We put limits on our phones. I have a 20 minute limit for TikTok and Instagram combined. So I can only use Instagram and TikTok 20 minutes a day. So I just use that to really post. So I kind of feel bad. Like when I see friends, comment, and stuff on my posts, I feel bad because I don't put, like I don't really comment.
Starting point is 00:45:23 I don't comment back on their stuff, but it's been way better for my mental health to use less social media. Before I deleted TikTok though I would see these TikToks at Christmas time of their Christmas halls and People were like adding up now. I don't know how accurate they were but they would add up like the total spend on this person on their like Christmas hall and there are in the thousands every time. And that's just never been us or our families. Like we have we do gift exchanges and they're very very thoughtful gifts. But I don't think if you were to add up the total you would even get to $500 because and that even that is a lot of money. but what I'm saying in comparison is like, people were getting gifts that were once
Starting point is 00:46:09 single gift was over $500. And we've just never been like that. Like, crazy to me. Yeah, we've just never been people like that. So, yeah, it is, maybe one year we should do a gift exchange though with me and you. But I do also like that we just exchange like experiences like trips, and that alone is more than
Starting point is 00:46:28 $500 honestly. No trips are more than $500. But it's just not a formal like this is our Christmas gift to each other. I thought about this though. I thought it'd be a fun series to do on YouTube seeing how cheaply we can travel. So we used to do that in college. Yeah. Because we had literally no money to spend on travel.
Starting point is 00:46:45 We brought our instant pot. Yeah, so we like bring stuff with us to cook and we'd stay in like the cheapest Airbnb we possibly could find. And then we'd buy food at the grocery store and cook and just do like a road trip. So we ended up being able to do like a whole vacation for like under 300 bucks.
Starting point is 00:47:00 So I think that's like pretty impressive. I think it'd be fun to do that. Maybe we could go camping. We could get, because camping is free And we could all roam through I'm not that girl and we can see how cheaply we can do it I'm not that girl. What if okay? What if we find the cheapest hotel or the cheapest Airbnb? Okay, and it's meant the night there, but then with that scare you though if we had like bedbugs at our bed Yeah, I got bedbugs that happened that we once had that happened to us and it was scary
Starting point is 00:47:20 It's in our bed. Yeah, I got bedbugs. That happened. It wasn't present. We had to happen to us and it was scary. Good old Los Angeles. This portion of today's episode is brought to you by Daily Harvest. So we got our Daily Harvest shipment in the other day
Starting point is 00:47:32 and I caught Abby just feeding Griffin all this food. We were sharing. It was hilarious. You made him a smoothie. It came in this like really cute box and then Griffin. Delicious smoothie. Drink that smoothie so fast.
Starting point is 00:47:44 He loved it. He loved it. He loved it. He loved drank that smoothie so fast. He loved it. He loves their smoothies. Yes. And I do too. And also they had like, we also had their pasta. I just thought it was funny like the second you got the food and the meal you're like, I'm going to feed my son this day. We share them.
Starting point is 00:47:57 He deserves it. He does. He deserves only the best. And you guys, if you don't know what daily harvest is, it makes it easy to meet any kind of goals you have for the new year when it comes to diet and stick with them because they take the planning prep and clean up out of cooking by delivering your favorite veggies and fruit packed meals straight to your door. So like Matt said, we had a smoothie. I think it was like a strawberry
Starting point is 00:48:19 banana one. They have soups. They have pastas. They have all kinds of good healthy bowls, and it's so nice because you literally do zero prep work. You throw it in the microwave or blend it in the blender. Feed it to your toddler, it's just so convenient. It's so easy, and actually one of my resolutions this year, I hate diets, I hate thinking of like restricting anything. I love food and flavor so much. And one of my New Year's resolutions though, was just to come up with quick and healthy lunch items and daily harvest does just that for you. Right to your door. They have plant-based options built on organic fruits
Starting point is 00:48:56 and vegetables that are easy to prep and free of gluten, fillers, seed oils, added starches and sugars. It really takes the guesswork and effort out of eating food that I know is good for me. Yeah. It's right. It's right.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Yeah. They have a butternut squash and rosemary soup. Here's what's great about daily harvest too, if you're a bigger eater like me. It creates a great base and option for you that you can just add extra protein to or add, you know, it's really just protein that I would just add to it. And there's so many different options and varieties of foods that you can get.
Starting point is 00:49:28 Our freezer is full of it right now and it's just, it's cool. All the different soups and smoothies and, yeah, meals that are just ready to be made, ready to eat. Yeah, and a common criticism with products like this is the waste and daily harvest is actually doing their part to take care of our earth because they use only recyclable or compostable packing when possible. So say yes to healthy habits without the hassle with daily harvest. Go to dailyharvest.com slash unplanned to get up to $65 off your first box plus free shipping for a limited time only.
Starting point is 00:50:00 That's dailyharvest.com slash unplanned for up to $65 off your first box and free shipping. Dailyharbist.com slash unplanned. Thank you. And now back to the episode. So Abby, we talked about this a little bit. But what would you say is your main New Year's resolution for 2024? What do you think it is? So yours are to start a coffee shop to read more books. Less social media. Less social media. Less social media.
Starting point is 00:50:30 That's the same one. That's one bullet point. Was this one of mine, but I didn't know if it was one of yours too, but to build more community? Yeah, I literally memorized mine. It's making keep good friendships. Okay. Because we still have good friends, but we seem to maintain those relationships and make more friends. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Another one I have is volunteer more. I want to be like an active contributing member of our community. And I think we can make every excuse in the book. Like, oh, we have little babies. Oh, I was pregnant. You got to start. Even when it's hard, you got to just start. And maybe it won't look like as involved as you can be
Starting point is 00:51:09 down the line, but you just have to get in the habit now of serving and just being involved intimately in people's lives that are just all different walks of life. And I feel like we just need to diversify more like the people that we're surrounding ourselves with. And we haven't been doing a good job with that. I feel like we need to just yeah, I do want to volunteer We volunteered once last year and I don't know if we volunteered again Like that's pathetic honestly. We need to we need to volunteer more than
Starting point is 00:51:37 So that's definitely a big one another one is budgeting. Yeah, I think that it's really powerful to know like where your money's going out and I want to get a better grip on that Well, I think that could be something that we do together because I think in the past I've done more of the budget side of things But we've never done it as a team and I think it'll be really powerful if we do our budget together as a team So let's do it. I think that'll be fun. Shake my hand. Where are Qjammies is my next one? Why is where Qjammies want to be in your deserts? Because I just think that I want to do that,
Starting point is 00:52:13 because like, especially when I was pregnant and post-war on my last spring, random t-shirts, and it just wasn't. I just want to be cute. Okay, I just want to be cute. You are really cute. Next one, thank you. Next one was, uh, Kiss More.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Kiss More. I feel like we had babies in me's top solution. Why are we, I feel like we're not kissing more already. I'm talking about, I'm not talking about like making out, you know. Just kissing. I'm talking about just like, kiss me just throughout the day. I'm gonna kiss you throughout the day. I'm gonna do that more.
Starting point is 00:52:44 I feel like we do have a way to do it more. Totally. Um, let's think. Check it out my list. Cause I think I've exhausted all the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. The number one new year's resolution on my list too is to build community.
Starting point is 00:52:59 And I think, I think I'm happiest when I'm with people and when I'm hanging out with friends, and there's no price that you can put on that, and the funny thing about community is it's free. Like, there's no dollar amount to having a friend. It's not like something you have to pay for. It's free to be with your friends. It's free to hang out, and I think sometimes I get so focused
Starting point is 00:53:21 on business and all those things where my brain can't just realize, like, wait a second, I need to be intentional with my friends. I need to be reaching out to people and inviting people to hang out, because I think we both fall into this trap where we expect other people to reach out to us and buy us the things. For sure. And then we feel like, wait, why am I not hanging out with people? Why am I not with friends? Like, are you not reaching out?
Starting point is 00:53:44 Exactly. So, to build community this year, I'm gonna be a lot more intentional with reaching out to people, scheduling hangouts, putting things on the calendar, because that's what you have to do as a parent to make sure that hangout actually happens. But community building is my number one. Very good.
Starting point is 00:53:57 New Year's resolution for 2024. And I'm already doing that. I'm already doing it this year. It's great. Yeah. I also wanna have one like, asterisk revision on the volunteer one, right? My goal was volunteer regularly.
Starting point is 00:54:09 And I think that actually makes a difference because I don't want to just volunteer here and there. I think that's good maybe at the beginning to find, but I want to become like deeply involved with just a handful of organizations because I think that's where you can have a greater impact. If you keep showing up and seeing the same people and I don't know, I think there's something to do that. Start a book club was one of mine, but then I actually started to think about it.
Starting point is 00:54:37 I'm like, am I gonna prepare questions? Yeah. Mostly I just wanna have like a community outlet, but and I want to have assigned readings again I don't know why so I'm gonna start a book club. I think most of us are gonna talk about life and things I don't want to be in charge of it though is the thing. I mostly want to join a book club There's literally women on a neighborhood that told you to join there. Oh, they drink wine And most of them don't do the reading that's one of mine is I I'm doing dry January right now
Starting point is 00:55:06 So I I've seen article after article the past couple months about how any amount of alcohol is bad for you And it scared me because I'm not a drinker I don't I don't drink very often I probably have on average a drink maybe two drinks a week but more though more now than ever I've been drinking alcohol. I used to like not even drink. I would drink maybe an alcoholic beverage a month. So I've just realized I don't want this to become more of a habit. I want to nip this in the bud. And so I decided I'm doing dry January. I'm not drinking at all for the month of January. I'm doing what January.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Abbie has started to drink in January. One or the other night, I'm- I gotta say, Mia! You gotta say, Gria, how was that? How was it, Gria? I think that because I haven't drank for like two years straight, it's fun. And my limit is literally one drink.
Starting point is 00:55:58 I'm not gonna do more than one drink, but one drink, like maximum. And I think that means I am pretty much doing one or two drinks a week. That's really fun. Yes With me I think I think that's hilarious that you're doing a wet I mean I haven't purchased really any except for when we went out on our date Yeah, and I started not drinking on Christmas day But then when we were with Abby's family and it was New Years, I ended up having a beverage on New Years, which now I'm kind of like dang it, because I had a streak going and I broke the streak. But then starting New Years day, or wait, New
Starting point is 00:56:35 Years Eve, I had a drink. Yeah, I did it one last time. Yeah, New Years Day, I did it. So I'm going to do the month of January. I'm considering maybe doing it the whole year. I think something that would probably be even better for my health as if I gave up sweets and like sugar completely. But that would be really hard. I just, I love dessert so much. Yeah, we can't do that.
Starting point is 00:56:53 I don't think I could do it. Okay, my last one was find quick and healthy lunch options. Nice. I feel like our lunch game is weak. Yeah. And I think that's an area of improvement that I want to work on. Oh, I forgot my other one, get rid of stuff. I think that's an area of improvement that I wanna work on. Oh, I forgot my other one, get rid of stuff.
Starting point is 00:57:07 I just wanna get rid of everything. I just don't like stuff. It keeps it ties you down. It just gives you more jobs because then when you have more stuff and you have more, it's clean more stuff. It's like, no, I don't wanna get it out. So I'm gonna do a detox of our house.
Starting point is 00:57:21 Yeah, one of my list is to dive deeper into making music, which I actually have a new song called I literally forgot the name of my song called give me your worst and I feel like and I feel like I love that name. Do you know what the song's about based off of the name? I don't know just like Give me your worst and you're still gonna love me. Yeah, that's basically the... Yeah, I wrote it for you and it's a wedding song, it's a first dance song. I'm really hearing about this in the first song. Yeah, and it's actually completely done and it's ready and by the time this podcast is out,
Starting point is 00:57:59 the song will be out. When are you releasing it? I think I'm gonna release it like a week from today, from the day that we're recording this, but this episode will be out after I release the song. So check it out. I like this one a lot because it is unique, and that I haven't heard a wedding song like it. It's so different from like the cutesy, sweet wedding songs
Starting point is 00:58:20 that you hear, it's more about like, I'm signing up for your worst, so give me your worst. And so I love that concept. Yeah, and it's just kind of a complete spin on this idea of like the wedding day being like, it's like all perfect and you're gonna have this perfect life together and it's like actually, the flip side of the perfect life together is like doing life is really hard and with marriage and a relationship comes challenges and I'm okay with that and I'm committing to that. And so, it's kind of-
Starting point is 00:58:51 I thought that's almost kind of counter-cultural in a way because I feel like nowadays everyone just wants like, as soon as it gets hard, they want to back out. And I feel like that's really what people need to hear nowadays. Yeah. So that's really cool. And I'm sure people will interpret the song.
Starting point is 00:59:09 They might find a cutesy way. Which it is a cute song. It has a sweet melody to it. The melody gets stuck in your head, because it's stuck in my head. But truthfully, I feel like that's what love is, though. Love perseveres through hard times. True love, deep love. Yeah. And I think infatuation is whatever, you know.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Yeah. And what's funny about this song? And there's so many wedding songs about infatuation. Sorry. What's funny about this song too is it's kind of like it throws a curveball in there. So it starts off all like positive and talking about the good things. And it's like, I like the way that you laugh. We're dancing under the stars. It's like all these all talking about the good things. And it's like, I like the way that you laugh. We're dancing under the stars.
Starting point is 00:59:46 It's like all these all these sweet cutesy things. And then it just like, it throw, it's like a reverse, you know, card, and it goes into all the things that I want that are like, quote unquote, bad, because I love you that much. And I want to take on that. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:00:03 I'm excited here. Yeah. I really want to give this like side project of music more of my focus and Maybe I'll even do a live show in 2024. I think that'd be really really fun I'd be crafting my pants on stage because I haven't been on stage in a very long time Performed but I do love doing that though. So I think it'd be pretty fun to do. You're good at making yourself uncomfortable. Thanks. That's kind of how I am. Like when something scares me, I want to do it
Starting point is 01:00:29 to make myself stronger. For sure. You know? I don't like that. You do, which is honorable. And that's why I literally get anxiety when I read books aloud. Because in school, I was the first person to raise my hand
Starting point is 01:00:39 when they wanted someone to read the book out loud in class. Because it would make me scared. And I was like, OK, I need to make myself do it to make myself stronger. And so that when I read aloud, even to you, I just like spit on that pillow. That was kind of gross. But even when I read aloud to you, sometimes I'll get nervous because it like brings back me forcing myself to read any class. That is a very interesting thing that you make yourself do is, yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:02 self-to-read any class. That is a very interesting thing that you make yourself do as a kid. Yeah. And what's, what I envy about you Abby is throughout your whole like acting career, not that you did it professionally, but like, I mean, but like your whole time acting as a kid, you never would get nervous from what I understand. Like you just had the most confidence with like, you know, I got nervous.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Oh, you did? I got nervous with singing. Oh, but like acting, you wouldn't get nervous, right? I don't, not really. Like NCI envy that because I would get like really scared. I would get like really in my head. I don't remember getting scared. I'm sure I had butterflies.
Starting point is 01:01:40 Yeah. And I still get that way too, even being on camera, making you two videos. Sometimes I get really in my head and I get very nervous to record because I'm aware of the fact that thousands, potentially, millions of people will see this video. And so then I just get off-lustered. But I think it's so cool how you aren't like that at all.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Well, I just think that's probably interesting for people to hear because I think that it's it's hard to understand like what that could be like for you like you're always expected to say the exact right thing and the exact right way and editing also does a lot for changing the narrative and that's just a lot of pressure on you and people don't people don't realize, not that you're looking for pity, but people don't realize like, we don't have publicists, we don't have,
Starting point is 01:02:30 other eyes like working on this, it's really a small operation here, it's just us filtering it and that's, yeah. That's a pretty unattainable standard. Yeah, which I do love this podcast though, because it's nice that we can just have a conversation and I think it'll still get misinterpreted,
Starting point is 01:02:47 but that's all right. And it sucks too, because with the clips, we post shorts of the podcast that it gets the word out and gets people excited about the new episodes, but those will get misinterpreted. And there's people that watch those that never watch our actual podcast. And there's people that are just bounded
Starting point is 01:03:03 and disagree with us anyway. And that's okay. That's okay, but. If it's not for you, then you're in charge of your own destiny. You don't have to watch it. Yeah, that's good. But.
Starting point is 01:03:15 We're not gonna be for everyone. How did we get on that? I don't know. Oh, but yeah, back to the podcast thing. I love that we can just like have a conversation. And I don't have to worry about like setting up the camera to get the right angle for the shot if we're doing a vlog. Sometimes it's like very stressful when I'm vlogging, but yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:03:33 I love how chill you are. I think you're a very chill guy. That's very nice of you. Yeah. I didn't think that you would all honestly call me chill because at the more you've said it recently, I'm like, wow, that feels good to hear that. Yeah. I like you. You're my best friend. I'm like, wow, that feels good to hear that. Yeah. I like you.
Starting point is 01:03:45 You're my best friend. You're my best friend. You're a really sweet girl. I love you. I had so much fun on our dinner and movie day two nights ago, and I want to do that. Like, we needed- Every night.
Starting point is 01:03:55 I literally wanted, like, we woke up the next morning, and I was like, I don't want to work right now. I just want to spend time with you. And then you were like, no, like, I have stuff to do right now. I have to, which is fine. Which is fine, I totally get that. But I'm all in on just, let's have fun and go on dates. Or I'm like, okay, I have to grind mode right now.
Starting point is 01:04:18 I have to work all this. So I like you. You're very good. You're tapping my ankle because I think we probably need to wrap up podcast. I just wanted to say that if the unplanned podcast is a podcast, you've decided to listen to in year 2024. We are very honored because it's a good chunk of your time. And we appreciate you. And yeah, you guys really know a lot about us.
Starting point is 01:04:45 So it's really cool meeting you guys in person because I feel like we're automatically like, there's a certain level of friendship almost there because we know each other. Well, you know us. We've almost done this for a whole year. Can you believe that? That is wild.
Starting point is 01:04:58 A whole year, 52 hours. That's a little bit too much. Yeah, if you've watched every single episode drop a comment down below We would love to see you guys and say hi to you and we appreciate you guys like listening and being a part of this So we're excited for this new year and we'll have to bring some cool changes to the podcast As you're I'm excited for what we're going to what we're gonna do and what 2024 has to offer I think you're gonna really like what's gonna happen to do and what 2024 has to offer.
