Red hot comic book movie news
Shooting up your balls.
The Weekly Planet.
The Weekly Planet.
Welcome back everybody to another episode of The Weekly Planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows.
My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday.
With me as always is my co-host Nick Mason.
I'm here.
You're here.
Dog's here.
Yeah.
Great.
Great week for everyone.
We're all having a terrific week.
Everybody would have heard the news by now.
We may as well jump straight into it.
The death of Chadwick Boseman at the age of 43.
I've got the family statement here, if you don't mind me.
I'll read that out.
They put out on his official social media accounts.
It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage 4.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it
and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.
From Marshall to Defy Bloods,
August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more
all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
It was the honour of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther.
He died in his home with his wife and his family by his side.
The family thanks you for your love and prayers
and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
So, yeah, this obviously came out of the blue for...
Yeah, that's mind-boggling.
So I guess just his family knew?
I don't know.
I mean, presumably some of the
people he worked with must yeah i guess so yeah it made me because i was re-watching some some of
the stuff they'd done including the portal scene from endgame and he's the first one through yeah
right and i wonder if they i don't know it could be just to be a coincidence but it just it's
amazing to me that all of these movies came out during this time period like black panther i
thought when did that come out like 2016 2016? It came out in 2018.
Yeah.
Which means he was sick when he filmed.
Yeah, like, I mean, you know, I can only speak for myself,
but I was not familiar with his work at all.
I've since gone back and watched Get On Up,
his James Brown biopic.
Have you seen Defy Bloods?
No, I haven't.
That's on Netflix.
That's on Netflix, yeah.
But yeah, like prior to Black Panther,
I was not aware of any of his work.
But just to know that the entire time I've seen his work on screen,
not only did he have to go through the incredibly rigorous
like physical transformations for that everybody
who pretty much who makes a Marvel movie has to do,
like you'd have to bulk up for Black Panther,
just even like a very brief appearance and for the solo movie but then like you know change physically for a different
move like a non-mcu movie yeah he would do you know while battling cancer and also he would have
to go through like the the exhausting marketing you know press junkets and things like that
visiting kids he visited kids with cancer while he himself had cancer.
Yeah.
Crazy.
Yeah, because you've sort of got to, while you are part of the MCU stable,
you kind of have to stay in character to a certain degree.
You kind of have to, like, do all this extra stuff.
Yeah, you're not just Black Panther in the movie.
It's like with any of these people.
Like, you're out in the street and people are like,
kids expect, they're like, oh my God,
that's like you're walking around.
You can't be like, get out of here, kid.
I'm not Black Panther, I hate that or whatever.
Yeah, because you'd see him,
people come up in the street and do the Black Panther salute to him
and he'd do it.
I saw an interview he was talking about
and they were like, oh, do you hate doing it?
And he's like, I don't hate doing it.
I hate it when people are like, hey, do the thing.
But if they do it to me like i'll do it back you know
what i mean yeah for sure yeah yeah that's yeah i just i mean yeah and it is you know there is so
much about him and like his public appearances where in retrospect it's all in a completely
different light like i know there were a lot of right you know there are a few you know post black
panther uh you know there were you know some memes of like oh you know look at him he's sick of doing
the again the salute or whatever.
And it's like, no, he was literally dying.
Yeah.
When he'd like that, you, you, you caught, you captured a frame where he looked sad while
he was doing that.
Yeah.
Cause you know.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Cause he's out doing a press junket.
Yeah, exactly.
Between chemotherapy or whatever else.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's, it's, it's, I just, I, I thought it was wrong.
Like when it happened, I'm like, this isn't like, this is someone's been hacked.
This is like, even after I tweeted it, I spent like 10, 20 minutes just searching, being
like, have I just tweeted out something that's not true?
Like, have I just been duped by this?
It just didn't seem, it doesn't, it didn't.
And I think it was, it's definitely like the shock of it, just like the suddenness of it
and like power to him to, to not reveal that you don't have to and well exactly yeah that's that's you know and and as
we say you know you don't want people being like how's the cancer going yeah we hope you know
people respect the privacy of his family at this you know at this point because obviously they want
that but yeah and also i guess there would be a certain stigma attached to that and people being
well you know if you'd let it known to the public then people may not have wanted to cast him in certain roles yeah or they may
have been like well he's not believable as this hero because of you know yeah he's he's people
would see him as frail even though if he wasn't that's right so it feels like just looking at
the roles that he's done that like he was like cementing this legacy doing as much as he could
because he i guess he knew i mean we don't know how far in that he knew that he was you know yeah
that's true yeah through yeah yeah that he was going to pull through.
It's like David Bowie who released one last album,
and he's like, well, I'm going to die this year,
so I'd better put this out while I can.
That's it.
Speaking of, though, because he does have two things in the pipeline,
which we will see.
He was doing T'Challa as a voice in What If?
Yeah, so there's the Rainy's Black Bottom,
which when I read that, I'm like, I don't know what that is.
So it's upcoming.
Right.
Yeah, the Marvel What If series, he voices T'Challa,
but it's T'Challa who becomes Star-Lord.
Yeah.
So that will be his final performance.
I know a lot of people kind of want us to talk about the speculation
about like what's next for Black Panther 2?
What's Marvel got in – what are they up –
And that's for another time, exactly,
yeah,
and I think it's probably,
yeah,
best to,
again,
if you haven't seen,
I'm definitely going to go back.
I enjoyed Get On Up,
but yeah,
there's a bunch of stuff
and he's portrayed a lot of iconic
sort of African-American characters
and yeah,
like T'Challa was,
you know,
you can say,
oh,
well,
it's just this silly
kind of superhero character,
but you know, there's so many – it's just the idea of black
and non-black kids can be like, well, here's a superhero
and he's African-American – well, he's not African-American,
he's African.
Yeah.
And that's – you can be that.
There was – because one of my son's best mates is from Africa
and obviously his favourite, not obviously,
but his favourite superhero is Black Panther.
It's important that people see themselves represented.
Do you know what I mean?
Instead of you've got somebody that could inspire you,
that you can look up to.
Obviously it's fictional.
But I don't think people, some people,
I think people downplay how important that is.
Like people still, the way that, youplay how important that is yeah like people still the
way that you know you look at the way people still talk about like chris reeve for example
yeah right i think like this is that kind of yeah kind of legacy you know what i mean it's
he's he was in three of the biggest movies ever made that's true i mean like and i think that
what's what's great about that is his legacy it's going to endure like we'll be long dead and he'll
be remembered you know what i mean? Which I think is...
That's the correct way.
Yeah, that's absolutely the correct way to go.
That's the way to look at it, yeah.
Yeah, I think so too.
But no, I think his impact is, it's important
because I know also people were like,
well, what about Blade?
Blade was this black superhero.
That was fucking 20 years ago.
Yeah, we need more than one every 20 years.
Yeah, right?
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It was hugely impactful.
And he also,
the way he spoke about other people who helped him,
I know he talks,
there's a speech that I watch where he talks about how Denzel Washington paid for tuition for some,
for some of his college.
Cause he went to Howard university and there was like a acting scholarship
for Oxford and he couldn't afford it.
And some of his fellow classmates couldn't afford it.
So Denzel Washington stumped up,
which is great.
And he talked about how,
like what he's built is on the back of others. know what i mean so he wasn't just like i made it
to the top and i'm the king you know right he was well aware of kind of the people who came before
him and the people who who will come after yeah and i think we are only going to get good things
like from this i think we are going to get a new generation coming i'm not even like it's already
here you're already seeing it you know what i mean i think it's it's it's such a huge difference
yeah you know um it's one of those things as well and claire
constantly reminds me of this because she's like james you're such a prick and i'm like i know
but it's one of these things where like you never you never really know what people are going through
exactly that's right i mean big or small they might just be having a bad day or somebody died
or they're sick yeah you don't you just you don know. Like one of my biggest pet peeves is when like,
you know, somebody's looking sad
and somebody will come up to me and go,
bloody, you never know what might never happen.
And it's like, maybe it did happen.
Maybe it's happening.
Maybe shut up.
Yeah, exactly.
It's one of those things where Patton Oswalt talks about
like the world is chaos, be kind.
I've probably butchered that saying, but it's true.
Yeah.
And I think I need to remember that, I think, more than a lot of people.
But, yeah, this is, I don't know, this one kind of threw me, like,
I don't know him.
What do I know?
Well, exactly, yeah, yeah.
But I also, like, my son loves Black Panther as well.
You know what I mean?
It's seeing, I didn't tell him because he doesn't know the difference at this point, but he will, You know what I mean? It's seeing, I didn't tell him because he doesn't know the difference
at this point, but he will.
You know what I mean?
He will in a few years.
Like the penny will drop.
Yeah, it's, I don't know, man.
Just one good thing this year.
You know what I mean?
It'll be nice.
Just fucking, and I'm not talking about like,
we live pretty comfortable lives.
You know what I mean?
We're not hard up for a buck.
You know what I mean? And we for sure. We're not hard up for a buck, you know what I mean?
And we get to do this, which is great.
But just fucking one world scale good thing.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
It'd be nice, wouldn't it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I mean, you know, if everybody, you know, if people reflect on that
and they move forward with a positive, you know,
imagine millions of people around the world just moving forward
with like a positive, just a positive focus based around this that's a good thing yeah i think the idea of like
again don't don't you know if we all went out there and we're like okay well let's not you
know remember people have their own kind of private struggles and and and you know just kind of exist
in the world knowing that like that's a positive thing i think so that's you know okay that's
something but also it's big like a big thing. That's right. So that's, you know, that's something.
But big.
Like, a big thing.
A real big thing.
Like, they're like, the Great Barrier Reef is fine.
You know what I mean?
It reversed itself or whatever.
Yeah, that would be cool too.
Yeah.
If you haven't seen, obviously, you know, when this happens,
there's a whole bunch of snippets of little things that people did.
Sure, yeah. We've all seen the movies, the big MCU movies and stuff he's been in.
If you haven't seen some of his earlier stuff, maybe check that out.
Stuff that has probably been circulating on Twitter and stuff this week,
his appearance on SNL, the Black Jeopardy sketch is very funny.
I saw celebrities read mean tweets that he did.
Oh, that's right.
I saw celebrities read mean tweets that he did.
Oh, that's right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And there's also a segment from a late-night talk show,
I think it might be Fallon, where people are brought in.
Oh, I did see this. They asked people if they had some positive stuff to say
about Black Panther and what seeing a black superhero on screen
meant to them if you want to come in and record it.
But Chadwick Boseman was behind the curtain
while they were doing that.
He would jump out and say hi.
Boo!
He'd say boo!
He'd say boo!
Yeah, that was really fun.
I really liked that.
Yeah, so.
But yeah, awful.
Awful.
Awful.
Yeah.
But amazing legacy.
That's right.
And maybe some good will come out of this,
as you mentioned, eventually.
Not eventually.
I think it has.
It's already here.
So have you followed this up with some cheery news?
I've got some DC fandom numbers, Mason, and they're huge.
DC put out a nice tweet, a nice tribute.
Oh, good.
Across the pond of like, you know, hero's a hero.
Yeah.
That's exactly it.
So, yeah, so we're going to do some others.
We're going to be talking about Bill and Ted.
He also died on Jack Kirby's birthday.
Did you know that?
I know, I saw that, yeah.
Isn't that wild?
That is wild.
So we're talking about Snyder Cut stuff.
There's a Resident Evil series.
Okay, let's all take a breath.
Altered Carbon.
The New Mutants and Tenet, though we haven't seen them,
but we'll talk about some stuff for that.
And also Bill and Ted's 3, which we've probably both watched.
I watched it.
Both of us have watched it.
We've both watched it.
So according to these numbers, DC Fandom.
Oh, there's Mulan news as well.
I don't know if you mentioned that.
What's the Mulan news?
Mulan's going to be free in November, I think.
That's pretty soon.
Or December.
It's one of those.
If you have a Disney Plus subscription and you don't want to pay what it turns out to be in Australia, $35 for Milan.
That's a lot of money.
Video on demand.
It'll be free with a subscription in like a couple of months.
Okay, yeah.
We'll hold off then if you want to.
Yeah.
We'll talk about that next week.
Maybe next week.
It is next week.
September 4th, I think it comes out.
Yeah, that's next week.
$35.
That ain't nothing.
I'm trying to get a screener.
I don't know whether that's going to happen.
Oh, la-di-da.
Yeah.
$35.
That ain't nothing.
I'm trying to get a screener.
I don't know whether that's going to happen. Oh, la-di-da.
I've heard the screener has a big, like, watermark right in the middle.
Walt Disney's face.
Yeah.
And he's got, like, his scowl.
He's like, don't do it.
Don't even think about it.
It's Mickey Mouse.
It's a watermark of Mickey Mouse with your severed head.
Just dripping blood.
No, it's yours.
It's yours specifically.
Oh, mine?
Yeah, yeah. Just mine? Yeah. So if anybody leaks it, it's on. It's yours specifically. Oh, mine?
Just mine?
So if anybody leaks it, it's on me.
They're probably going to kill you anyway.
I mean, just on principle.
Let them come. As an example.
I've got Rob Liefeld on my side.
Oh, boy.
He'll be all right.
Who's going to tell him?
DC Fandome was, in fact, officially off the dome, Mason.
We ran through it last week.
It was hot stuff all around.
It was hot stuff. So apparently, just a little We ran through it last week. It was hot stuff all around. It was hot stuff.
So apparently, just a little bit about how it came together.
They shot the majority of the panels featuring more than 300 people
on camera and 250 people behind the scenes over a two-week period
through the end of July that gave the production team just three weeks
to assemble everything together.
The Hall of Heroes generated 22 million views in over 220 countries
via the in-house player, live streams by comic book influencers
and other generated content.
James, are we comic book influencers?
Well, we didn't live stream it,
so I don't know if that counts towards that.
No, nor are we influencers.
And also, I said comic book, so probably not.
Now, we're never going to be comic book.
Oh, no, Mason, you're me saying it.
Yeah.
So, and the trailers themselves
have pulled in uh this is right this is wednesday these numbers are from uh 150 million views it's
not nothing big event big event big success big big weird red and black uh out of space
where were they where were they red and black out of Space is where they were. How did they get there?
Are they still there?
How did you get back?
I wonder if people have set that as their Zoom background.
Probably.
Just for meetings and stuff.
Sorry, I'm in the fandom, everybody.
Wild out here.
There is going to be a fandom follow-up.
Remember they took some of the things from TV and they're pushing it to mid-September
or something.
Okay.
I don't know anything about anything.
And why should I?
I don't need to.
It's not what this is.
It's not what this show has ever been about.
What is this?
Knowing things.
I think obviously
they learned a lot of lessons
from Comic Con
but this always seemed
to be on track
when they went
we've got this, this, this,
this and this.
It's like,
well, these are all,
even if you fuck this up
as long as you show the trailers
there's going to be
some success here.
How can a thing be
so off the dome
but still on track?
You know what I mean?
How does that even work?
I don't know
but they did it.
Snowpiercer. Sons of bitches. but they did it. Snowpiercer.
Sons of bitches.
They pulled it off.
Snowpiercer?
Yes.
That's a good example of that, I think.
I think so too.
Seen Snowpiercer, the TV series?
Nope.
Gets better.
Okay.
Yeah.
Some might argue that it should be good from the start.
Well, people aren't, are they?
They're little squishy babies.
They're like, wah, wah.
And then sometimes they grow up to nicer people.
Sometimes they don't.
I mean, I guess.
Depending on the person.
Yeah.
Snyder Cup potential release date.
This is from a DC price listing site potentially.
Okay.
Ready for this?
Yes.
September 5th.
That's really soon.
2021.
Oh, God damn it.
It's only a little bit more than a year, Mason.
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
What am I doing?
That would have been a nice surprise if they'd just been like.
I'm glad I did that.
Yeah, it was good.
That was fun to do.
Well, that's you spreading your positivity, is it?
Yeah.
I haven't learned any lessons.
No, you really haven't.
So, I don't know.
It could be.
That could change, I'd imagine, depending on.
To 2020.
No.
September 5th, 2020.
It won't change to that.
What if they were like, oh, Milan, maybe you could wait a day and just watch the Snyder
Cup.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Are you looking forward to Milan?
Yeah.
Because I am.
Yeah, kind of.
So yeah, there we go.
Snyder Cup.
Maybe a year.
Could be a lie.
They could finish it earlier, later.
Who knows?
World could end.
It's all up in the air.
Isn't it though?
Yeah.
Do you like Netflix?
Yeah.
For the most part?
I mean, yeah.
Do you like the original movies?
Um. Um. Um. Oh. Do you like Netflix? Yeah. For the most part? I mean, yeah. Do you like the original movies? Yeah.
No, you don't.
Look, on the whole, I do.
I mean, there's a lot of-
No, but you haven't watched them all, have you?
No, but that's-
I mean, I have the option, though, don't I?
Yeah, that's true.
To not watch them all.
Yeah, that's their tagline.
You don't have to watch this one.
I think, on balance, for whatever I pay,
like 15 bucks a month or whatever for Netflix.
It all comes out in the wash, mate.
Yeah, I think
they've produced enough good stuff.
I agree.
Anyway, where are you going with this?
I'm talking about
Is this just an admission
that I like some things?
No, actually
we're talking about
a series.
Okay.
A Netflix series
because Resident Evil
is getting a live action series
from the supernatural showrunner
Andrew Dabb.
He did it, folks.
He did a dab.
No, Mason did a dab. We both did a dab. No, Mason did a dab.
We both did a dab.
I didn't do a dab.
We both looked into each other's eyes.
We locked eyes.
Yeah.
We both did a dab.
So he's got a-
I did that Tonto jump on it dance.
You know that one?
Bow, now, now, now.
The one that Fortnite stole or whatever?
Probably, yeah.
Yeah, cool.
I don't think I did that sponsorship.
I think they got mad that I didn't respond quick enough. Or you insulted them on this podcast.? Probably, yeah. Yeah, cool. I don't think I did that sponsorship. I think they got mad that I didn't respond quick enough.
Or you insulted them on this podcast.
Maybe that, yeah.
I got a very curt email.
It could have been Fortnite skins.
I was thinking of doing it.
I'm not against it.
It can't be Fortnite skins.
What are you talking about?
No, we can't.
I feel like having never played Fortnite or even really investigated what it is,
I'm pretty sure we can be.
I wonder how much money it was.
I should have asked.
Do you think I should have asked?
Yeah.
It could have been like 10 grand.
Maybe it's too late.
Maybe it's not too late.
Because it's Fortnite money.
So it's one of those things you highball.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, you'd be like,
I know how much money you've got.
$100,000, yeah.
And then they'd be like, yep.
You know, one time I highballed a private school
because I didn't want to do it.
Wait, what does this mean?
Are you being put on a list for this? on a list no no so uh like a rich
school reached out this isn't podcast based no no sort of because they knew i had a youtube channel
and like new media you know that thing that they say new media top 10 things you missed by not
joining this fancy hoities hoity private school so i um and look hey man i've no problem with
private school good on you but they were like how much've no problem with private school. Good on you.
But they were like, how much do you charge for events?
And I'm like, I don't.
I don't do them.
I don't want to.
Live events.
Yeah, like you come and you do a talk about what you could do in your future or whatever.
And I'm like, I'm not the guy.
I'm old.
They're not going to.
Kids don't like me.
Like, let's not.
What if you'd done it, but at the end of every like slide you were like and just to be
clear i pretty much lucked into this yeah that's right that's what a lot of things that people
because people like if you do it every day not necessarily like a lot of it is chance like a
lot of it really is but um i said i don't i don't want to do it and they were like just name name
your price and i'm like i know how much money these guys have. So I said like two grand or something like that.
Uh huh.
Being like, well, I'll, I'll get the money or I won't have to do it.
So either way I, and they, and I never heard from them, but I'm also like, I know what
you're charging 30 grand a year, a person like, I know, I know the money, like, like
I'm just going to come in and do this for like a couple hundred bucks.
Like I fucking need it.
No, that's true.
But also, you know, a lot of that money goes to cover-ups.
Okay.
Well, as long as it goes to cover-ups.
Yeah, so.
Yeah, so.
What were we talking about?
I've forgotten.
Private schools.
Fortnite.
We were talking about Fortnite.
Yes.
I mean, I went to an off-brand private school.
You were like, but you said earlier like, well, maybe they'd give us Fortnite money.
And I'm like, and my first thought was like, oh, money we can only spend in Fortnite.
You do this Fortnite ad, but we'll give you whatever.'ll give you fortnight dollars whatever they are you can buy new emotes yeah emotes exactly you can go to live djing events
in fortnight oh my god you could say yeah you can get the the new star wars movie you can watch a
clip from it or whatever yes yeah daisy rid's like, not getting any work or whatever.
I saw that.
Yeah.
But, I mean, on the one hand, there is a pandemic going on.
Yeah, but she said she did go for a bunch of auditions at the start of the year.
I think she'll be fine.
She's a good enough actor outside of Star Wars.
Yeah, that's true.
That she'll be all right.
I hope, anyway.
Yeah.
I think it's also like that Star Wars curs thing is not really a thing anymore, I feel.
So do you feel like, because I didn't read the article, but I did read the headline.
Yeah.
Is it a typecasting thing?
Because she seems very charming in interviews and things like that.
Surely it wouldn't be like they're in the room and they're like, well, I just don't like you kind of thing.
Surely that wouldn't be the case.
I don't like the fact that your middle name is Jazz, it turns out.
It's before me before the show.
Yeah.
Just Jazz, man.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It's just Jazz.
It's the roles you're not getting, Daisy Jazz Ridley.
Yeah.
Anyway, Resident Evil.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
The Netflix series.
She could be one of the Resident Evil ladies.
Yeah, that's right.
Jill.
The other one, Wesker.
He's a man.
But you could do it.
Put your sunglasses on. Yes. Swap it up. It's fine. Wes other one, Wesker. He's a man, but you could do it. Put your sunglasses on.
Swap it up.
It's fine.
Weskerina.
Weskerina.
Not even.
Just Wesker.
Yep.
It's just Wesker.
The Netflix series will tell a new story across two timelines.
In the first, a 14-year-old sister's Jade and Billy Wesker.
The Wesker family.
Now, Wesker's real name is Arnold Wesker.
It's not Billy Wesker.
Are they his kids?
I guess so
Or his parents
Wait no they're brother and sister
We'll find out
Maybe that's why though
Maybe that's why he's so evil
That's right
His parents were brother and sister
They moved to Raccoon City
New Raccoon City sorry
A manufactured corporate town
Forced on them right
As their adolescence is in full swing
It's probably underground or something right?
Like it's underground
Oh the city's underground
They're like we love this idyllic town.
Wait a minute, the sun.
It sounds a little Buffy angel already.
It's like, well, they're just teens working stuff out,
but also there's zombies.
They're underground.
They're also underground, yes.
They're mole children.
But the more time they spend there,
the more they come to realise that the town is underground.
No, the town is more than it seems.
Their father may be concealing dark secrets. See, if their town was underground, they'd already know to realise that the town is underground. No, the town is more than it seems. Their father may be concealing dark
secrets. See, if their town was underground, they'd already
know that that was the dark secret. They wouldn't
be like, Father, I've come to realise
that this town has a dark
secret. It's underground, Dad!
Did you say their father is Arnolesk?
They said just their father, so
presumably. Secrets that
could destroy the world. Yeah, right, right.
Also, it may already be destroyed because they're underground.
And it's New Raccoon City.
Exactly. I wonder if this is a sequel to the...
I don't know how any of those work.
I was about to go, what's the Resident Evil
timeline? Forget it. I know someone's going to send me a video.
Don't. Don't bother.
The second... Because in the third movie,
the world was destroyed. I meant the games.
Okay, right. But I'm saying in the third one, the world was destroyed.
At the end, they're like, not all of it's desert.
In fact, most of it isn't.
Everything's fine again.
It's an ice world now.
Don't even think about it.
This is the second timeline.
The second, more than a decade into the future,
sees less than 15 million people left on the earth
and more than 6 billion monsters,
people and animals infected with the T-virus.
Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in the new world
while the secrets from her past about her sister
and her father and herself continue to haunt her
because she's underground.
Yeah, that's probably it, yeah.
Wasn't one of the Resident Evil movies
that were underground?
And they're like, it's Tokyo.
We've rebuilt Tokyo underground.
I'm sure that was one.
They brought literally everybody back.
Everybody's a clone.
I don't know.
Maybe that was six.
I think it was six, yeah.
I don't even know if I've seen it, but there you go.
Incredible stuff.
Yeah.
Okay, so were you saying there's two timelines happening simultaneously?
Yes.
Not bad.
15, yeah.
Don't mind that at all.
That's a good idea.
Resident Evil is ripe for a good adaptation.
Yeah, a good one, yeah.
What were you going to say?
I thought you were going to say Resident Evil's ripe for an adaptation,
and I was going to say, yeah, a good adaptation.
Oh, okay, right.
But then you snuck it in there.
I said it before. So all I can say is agree emphatically.
Okay, great.
So you think it's underground as well, both of us do?
No, I don't think that at all.
I think some of it will be underground.
I think it's just a regular city.
It's all underground all the time, those movies.
It's all boardrooms underground going, we've sold the T-virus.
We did it.
We sold a rocket launcher with a T-virus in it.
To who?
Who did you sell it to?
The four people that are left?
All right.
Here we go.
What?
Yeah, okay.
Now that's, yeah.
The problem I think is, though, that I feel like the games are way are way more focused like at the very least it's
like oh there's like a consistency to the it's not like the world is obliterated yeah but in every
movie the world is obliterated and double obliterated in the next one yeah and it's there's
no rhyme or reason to who lives or who dies at least in the in the in the games you go okay
well there's racon City and there's
a virus.
And then the next one, it's the same city from a different perspective.
And then the third one, yeah.
The fourth one's in a village.
And at least it's consistent characters, yeah.
And they also have animated movies that might tie into those.
Or maybe they're a different universe.
Who's underground though?
That's what I want to know.
That's what I want to know.
Google Resident Evil Tokyo and see what comes up.
I will.
It might be a Resident Evil.
I bet it's a ride or something.
I bet there's a Resident Evil restaurant and it's in Tokyo.
I wrote Tokyo Movie.
Great.
Resident Evil Retribution.
Okay.
Okay.
Uh-huh.
So this was the fifth one.
Yeah, so I think we skipped that one because we did do one of them on this show.
We skipped one, yeah.
When everyone was a clone, they kept pulling out clones of Alice and they're like- Yeah, I remember that one. There's a big pile of dead Alice clones. I remember this show. We skipped one, yeah. When everyone was a clone, they kept pulling out clones of Alice.
Yeah, I remember that one.
There's a big pile of dead Alice clones.
I remember that one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that's the thing.
Why do you need Alice?
I think that's maybe what sailed me on just the entire thing initially.
Why aren't you using Jill and Chris and Tad?
You know Tad?
Yeah.
No, Tad was a trick.
There's no Tad. Oh, I didn't. I thought he might have been in one of the later games. No, I tricked you. them. And Tad. You know Tad? Yeah. No, Tad was a trick. There's no Tad.
Oh, I didn't.
I thought he might have been in one of the later games.
No, I tricked you.
There's no Tad.
But why Alice?
Like, why do you need?
Why does she have to have psychic powers and blah, blah, blah?
Sometimes she doesn't, though.
Here we go.
This is so it is underground.
During a power failure, this is from that movie,
Alice escapes herself and the laser grid, Grid. I remember from Resident Evil 1.
Finding herself in a simulation of Shibuya Square, Tokyo,
fighting off monsters.
So there you go.
Simulation.
I read recently, I think there's a very busy city square in Tokyo.
It's one of those ones, it's like like Times Square but it's busier and thousands
of people cross the road at a time.
And if they want to film there, it's incredibly expensive
but they're like miles down the road
there's a fake intersection.
There's a warehouse and it's got a
replica of the
intersection but it's fake.
Really? That is fascinating.
Isn't it though? No.
No it is. Thank you. It's a little bit No. No, it isn't. No, it is.
Yeah, thank you.
It's a little bit fascinating.
God, they're good, aren't they?
Anyway, can you Google Resident Evil restaurants though?
Yeah, sure.
See if there's a Resident Evil.
Japan?
I guess, but I mean, I'll take any at this point.
Japanese restaurant?
Resident Evil.
Resident Evil Bistro, you know?
Yeah, there's a Resident Evil.
Oh, Bistro, but it's spelled B-A-S-T.
There's one.
Because they're all the beasts.
There's the Resident Evil restaurant that Tokyo is by. Resident Evil it's spelt B-E-A-S-T. There's one. Because they're all the beasts. There's the Resident Evil restaurant, the Tokyo's Biohazard.
Resident Evil Feastro.
That's good.
Pretty good, right?
There's a video on YouTube, the Resident Evil restaurant,
Tokyo's Biohazard Cafe and Grill.
I knew there'd be one.
Yeah, of course there is.
I knew it.
Probably face up against the robot restaurant.
There's an article from 2012 from Game Informer.
The title is, We survived a Visit to Japan's Resident Evil Restaurant.
Huh. There you go.
I'd imagine you would have because it's just a restaurant.
Yeah, exactly. I mean,
probably not a real biohazard. No.
They wouldn't be allowed to be in business. I mean,
these days, you know, though. Every bloody restaurant's
a bloody biohazard, am I right?
My goodness.
My goodness. The New Mutants
came out.
Good for now.
Let's go back.
That can't be right.
Okay.
No, it is.
First of all, I think you've...
James, James, James, James.
You've been in this room for too long.
You were thinking crazy things like the imaginary movie
The New Mutants has been released in cinemas.
First of all, it hasn't.
Second of all, it doesn't really exist.
Yeah, good point.
It's been some sort of weird CIA
psy-op for the last
many, many years. It doesn't really
exist. You're right, Mason. I was right.
That's a sign that you've finally gone stir-crazy. You're probably
right. But what I meant to say was Deadliner
have reported that Altered Carbon
has been cancelled after two seasons. Yep.
They were very clear to point out
it is not COVID-related.
The article stresses that.
Okay, sure.
If you thought this was pandemic related, no.
We're just not renewing this because people don't like it or watch it.
Just be clear.
It should just say because it's a Netflix show and they only ever get two or three.
It should just say a Netflix spokesman would have said we went with two on this one.
Sometimes we go with three, but often it's two.
But we've never gone with one.
That's right.
Maybe Tooker and Birdie, maybe?
Is that coming back?
I think I got picked up by someone else.
Yeah, occasionally they get one.
It says, it stems from the streamer's standard viewership versus cost reward review process.
Yep.
You know, that just from the heart.
That's right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, they're businesses, man.
What are you doing?
Yeah, well, exactly.
We've talked about that, I think, just last week.
How we were like, didn't watch the second season.
I watched a couple of episodes of the second.
Half of the first one.
Yeah, I watched the entire first season, a couple of episodes of the second.
And the anime, which came out.
Oh, yeah.
It was all right.
That's great.
Three seasons with an anime then.
Yeah.
Cool.
Oh, no, it was one episode.
It was like a movie.
One episode? Yeah, one episode. Just like a movie. Yeah. How short?, no, it was one episode. It was like a movie. One episode?
Yeah, one episode.
Just like a movie.
Yeah.
How short?
Like 40 minutes or whatever?
Probably, yeah.
Wow, that's great.
Tenet came out sometimes,
sometimes, somewhere.
Sometimes it did, yeah.
Reception, mixed.
Box office, I don't know yet.
We can't see it.
No.
Now, reception mixed.
Yes.
Mostly okay.
Like, it's not...
It's like a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It's cruising for a 40 million plus overseas box office launch.
Cruising because of Tom Cruise.
Oh, I saw that.
He said, see this movie.
What's he doing?
What is he doing?
Does he own legendary pictures or something?
No, he doesn't.
He mostly doesn't do his films with Warner Brothers.
He doesn't have anything coming.
Maybe he has.
He doesn't have anything coming out with Warner Brothers.
I know he's invested in the IMAX experience and he loves movie making.
I guess that's probably true.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, but I don't.
Money.
They must have paid him, right?
It's a brand endorsement.
I don't know.
I don't know what's going on in that crazy head of his, Tom Cruise.
I don't know.
Yeah, maybe because part of me is like they gave him a few million dollars
or he loves movies or he's never seen a movie.
Like I don't know.
We cannot rule out that this isn't the first time he's ever been
to an actual movie.
We honestly cannot.
And that's why he loved it.
Oh, wow.
This is what I do, you might say.
So, yeah, so what do you think?
He thinks he's just being paid for a series of stunts.
That's right.
Days that he does.
He thinks normal people get paid.
Like when he thinks, like when his dad told him, you know,
back when he was a kid that he, sorry, I've got to go and do the job.
He never really knew what it was.
And from young adulthood from now, he just thought that going to a job,
he thinks that every person in the world just goes out
and is latched to the back of a cargo plane and is flown into the sky
and then lands.
That's everybody's job.
Absolutely.
Then he goes and gets a dinner at a fancy restaurant.
His father's name was Thomas.
Also Thomas.
Thomas Mopotha?
Yeah, that's right.
And his mother's name was Mary.
Mary Thomas Mopotha?
Mary Thomas Mopothapa.
There we go.
And he's the third.
Is he the third?
He's the third, I believe.
Thomas Mopotha III.
His father was the third, so he's the fourth.
Thomas Mopotha IV.
Yeah.
That's cray.
That's a dynasty right there. What did his father do? He says he was strapped to the he's the fourth. He's the fourth. Yeah. That's cray. That's a dynasty right there.
What did his father do?
He says he was strapped to the side of a plane.
I don't think that's true at all.
I think you made that up.
He just went every day.
He went to the...
Son of a special education teacher, Mary Lee, and an electrical engineer.
I see.
There you go.
Wow.
Just having a look at his pictures of his parents.
Oh, yeah.
They look like people.
Nice. They look like standard people look at his pictures of his parents. Oh, yeah, they look like people. Nice.
They look like standard people.
Got his mother's height.
Got him.
Though apparently he's not that short, maybe.
Or he is.
He's probably about, I think he's 5'9".
Okay, all right.
So he's around my height.
Good on him.
I'm probably closer to 5'10", though.
What have you heard about 10 Nets?
Well, why don't you stack your various what do you
stack your bloody estimated net worth underneath you and then we'll see who's taller hey and he's
wearing those heels oh it's true yeah okay it was probably about even then what uh so what are you
what have you heard about it a tenant yeah i've heard it's um this is what we've come to with
the show what have you heard about this movie because we're not allowed to see it uh i've heard it's... This is what we've come to at the show. What have you heard about this movie that came out? Because we're not allowed to see it.
I've heard it's...
Like it looks good.
Yeah.
Good stunts and stuff.
I think so.
But it's kind of lacking in emotional depth.
I hadn't heard that at all.
And it's too complicated.
That's what I heard.
But it's not like this is a confusing story.
It's like told in a complicated way.
But again, I don't...
A friend of ours, who I won't name.
I'll tell you after the show.
They got to see it overseas.
And I said as a joke, send me the audio because I can't see it,
like record it on your phone.
Okay.
And they did.
What?
Or it's a joke.
That didn't happen.
But maybe I have the audio on my phone.
Oh, my God.
But it's a joke.
I'm joking, obviously.
Well, we better hope that this is one of those Christopher Nolan movies
where there is a character that expositions.
All the time.
Exposits every two minutes so we know what's happening.
Because otherwise it's just whams and people going,
and just long shots of.
And obviously if I had that, like,
I'm not going to actually do anything with it.
Come on, you could do a reaction vid.
I could, couldn't I?
We could pivot to reaction vids.
I could.
Let's just think about the data that it took to send that.
Crazy.
I mean, if indeed it happened.
That's what I've said.
Yep.
So there you go.
Also, good on this person for seeing you in a spot of bother,
allegedly, or on the brink of mad.
That's a true friend out there, out overseas,
who's like, this guy's not doing well.
I bet a seed to his insane request for the audio of the movie Tennis.
Yeah, and the New Mutants came out.
Yep.
So reception, bad.
People don't like it.
Or bad to like whatever.
But for what reason?
It's just like standard.
It's not.
Oh, is it in the style of, is it in the X-Men?
It's not like horror enough.
Okay.
But is it part of the X-Men downward spiral?
Yeah.
In the sense that it's like, well, you know, we had some high points early on and then
they dropped a bit and then we had X-Men First Class and Logan.
We thought things were on the up, but then they're on the down.
Booming down.
Okay, right.
That makes sense.
I don't think it's as bad as like whatever the last one was.
Dark Phoenix?
Maybe.
Maybe it was that.
We've got an episode on it, whatever it was.
Yeah.
If you want to check it out.
But there was some controversy.
I don't know if you saw this.
Wait, does that mean that we are going to at some point get the new mutants on video on demand? Yes. I think they just have to put it out. But there was some controversy. I don't know if you saw this. Wait, does that mean that we are going to at some point get the new Mutants on video on demand?
Yes.
I think they just have to put it out.
Okay.
Because I think seeing as Disney are putting a lot of things on streaming,
they obviously had to put this out.
Yeah, right, right, right.
And it probably tarnishes their brand and whatever
if they did put it to streaming.
Because then they can push it out
and it's not associated with Disney as well.
That's true, yeah.
It's just out there.
It's just out there.
It's around some dark corners. It's just out there. It's just like, all right.
It's around some dark corners.
It's in some alleyways.
I mean, there are some X-Men films on Disney+,
but they're not front and centre.
You've got to kind of do a little bit of a click and see.
They've pushed them out to a man in a dirty trench coat
just with copies of the new movies.
Exactly, yeah.
But I don't know if you saw this,
but Josh Boone, the director, spoke to io9
and there was two controversies.
One about Sunspot.
Sunspot is Brazilian from the comics.
But he's light-skinned in the movie?
Yes.
He's a Brazilian actor.
Yes, he is.
So that's kind of the counterpoint to this.
But what he said was, I didn't care so much about the racism I heard about in Brazil,
Brazil about the light-skinned versus dark-skinned.
To me, what I wanted to represent Brazil in a positive way,
I wanted to find someone who seems like he could look like a guy
who's had a silver spoon in his mouth, who has a really rich dad,
and Henry exemplified all of these things.
The ultimate Brazilian name.
That's right, exactly.
So Henry Zaga was his name, is his name.
He's not dead.
One time I used to work with a guy, like a new guy came to work,
and his name was William, and he was from Brazil.
William, not William.
Yeah.
William with an N.
Pencil it.
And I said, people must call you William the Brazilian, huh?
And he was like, no, no one's ever called me that.
And that blew my mind a little bit.
Wow.
Yeah.
See, that's the ultimate payoff.
Anyway, I got him fired.
For you.
You got him fired.
No, just kidding.
Because he didn't laugh at your joke?
Yeah, that's right.
No genuine query, not a joke.
Yeah, that's a success story though, I feel.
Because people must often call you that knowing that they do.
But you, like, I don't know what you stepped in there.
Nice.
Yeah.
So, look, I understand, like, he cast a Brazilian guy, to be fair. But just to be like, I don't know what you stepped in there. Nice. Yeah. So, look, I understand, like, he cast a Brazilian guy, to be fair,
but just to be like, I don't know.
I didn't think about it.
Right.
Rich people are white.
I guess that's true.
Look, we are not qualified to discuss this at all.
No, we certainly not.
We have not come prepared for this.
I mean, we had a lot of spare time in the sense that we did not.
We had at least a spare two hours because we didn't watch The New Mutants and we needed an extra two hours because we didn't watch
Tenet.
Yeah.
But we couldn't spare the four hours to look up Light Skin versus Dark Skin race relations
in Brazil.
And also he filmed it maybe 12 years ago.
So maybe he doesn't really remember what happened.
Yeah.
Bob McLeod, though, I don't know if you saw this.
I don't know who that is.
One of the co-creators of The New Mutants.
I've got a statement here about this film.
I was very excited when I heard they were making a New Mutants movie.
I thought making it into a horror movie was perhaps an interesting idea
and not at all how the characters should be introduced to the public at large.
But, hey, my character's in a movie.
I never would have thought that would actually happen.
But then I was disappointed when they didn't give Danny Braids,
although I like Blue Hunt.
I was disappointed when Rain wasn't a redhead with spiky hair,
although I adore Maisie Williams.
I was disappointed that Sam isn't tall and gawky,
although I do like Charlie Heaton.
But mainly I was very disappointed that Roberto isn't short and dark skinned.
Yet another example of Hollywood whitewashing.
There's no excuse.
So basically, hashtag Josh Boone erased everything I can,
I can contribute it to the,
to the way the characters look.
And now the movie has come out at last.
And apparently they've credited someone named Bob McLeod as co-creator.
They couldn't even be bothered to check the spelling of my name sometime in
the last three years.
And that can't be fixed.
That will be on the movie forever.
I think I'm done with this movie.
So they spelled the cloud as in the cloud in the sky,
but that's not how you spell his name, right?
Well, that's in the movie.
Yeah, sorry, I should have specified M-A-C-L-E-O-D.
Okay, right.
So there you go.
So he's obviously not happy, and it's not doing well enough
that it's just not, yeah, all around.
FX's The Veil explores the surprising and fraught relationship it's just not, yeah, all around.
FX's The Veil explores the surprising and fraught relationship between two women who play a deadly game of truth and lies
on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London.
One woman has a secret, the other a mission to reveal it
before thousands of lives are lost.
FX's The Veil, starring Elizabeth Moss,
is now streaming on Disney+.

Oh boy.
Express VPN lets you access the internet
as if you're from a different country.
Imagine visiting a different country at the moment, Mason.
Oh, my God.
I could be somewhere, somewhere.
I won't say where, but I'm eating a baguette.
Oh, my goodness, Mason.
New Zealand.
Yeah.
Because they have baguettes over there.
They just got them.
They just got baguettes, right?
Yeah.
So, for example, though, Netflix has different shows and movies available
depending on where you are in the world. And ExpressVPN allows you to unlock these thousands of shows
and movies new from streaming libraries around the globe.
Very nice.
You'd probably do some kind of food thing, I'd imagine, wouldn't you?
Baguette?
Yeah, baguette.
You're right.
Yeah.
No, but it's true because a lot of the time people are like,
oh, my God, have you checked out that?
This series has finally come to Netflix.
And you go, great, and you check it.
It's not there. Oh, it. It's not there.
Oh, boo.
It's not there.
It's nothing.
But it's on a different country.
You just click the thing.
There are hundreds of VPNs out there, but ExpressVPN is ridiculously fast.
You can actually stream everything in HD quality with zero buffering.
That's very important to me because we live in the worst place in the world
for internet, and just to have it choked anymore,
we can't be dealing with that.
Because exactly what happens is people say,
you've got to watch this thing, it's on Netflix,
and you're like, and you finally get the VPN and you click through
and it's all just blocky pixels.
And it goes, ah, ah, ah.
Exactly.
You don't want that ExpressVPN.
That's right.
It also works on ExpressVPN, that is, Mason, on a bunch of devices,
every device, phones, laptops, tablets, even your television.
And it also works on the many different streaming services,
Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, and many more.
You can choose from almost 100 different countries.
And it's so easy to use.
Just fire up your ExpressVPN app, change your location,
hit connect, and then refresh the page.
And the show or movie you want to watch will magically appear.
Got some recommendations here for people like,
what do I watch with ExpressVPN? I mean, you can have a hunt around for yourself. That's right. I'm going to do some legwork for people like, what do I watch with ExpressVPN?
I mean, you can have a hunt around for yourself.
That's right.
I'm going to do some legwork for you here if you don't mind.
Your options are basically unlimited, but we'll do your work for you.
That's right.
Star Trek Discovery is on Netflix UK and Australian as well, by the way.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Netflix Canada.
Rick and Morty, Netflix France.
And New Zealand?
Baguette.
Baguette.
It's also on here in Australia.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Australian Netflix, How I Met Your Mother,
Netflix Germany, Blackadder, Netflix
UK. All of these, that's just some of the
things you can do. Those are all classic television
programs. I agree with you, Mason. I agree with you.
If you want, you can actually use our link
right now at expressvpn.com
slash weeklyplanet, and you can get an extra three
months of ExpressVPN for free. That's expressvpn.com slash weeklyplanet and you can get an extra three months of ExpressVPN for free.
That's expressvpn.com slash weeklyplanet.
Helps out the show.
Helps out you watching stuff.
Pretend you're somewhere else in the world.
Do you know what I mean?
That's right.
Using an exotic foreign Netflix account.
Oh, my God.
The dream of going, that's what I do on holiday.
But now you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
All right.
Set up a deck chair.
Set up a deck chair.
Pretend you're in New Zealand.
Pretend you're in New Zealand.
They just got deck chairs.
They got deck chairs.
Great.
Good for them.
On with the show.
Yes.
Do you want to talk about Bill and Ted Face the Music, though?
Because that's a movie we did see.
We did see it.
Thank goodness.
A brisk 78 minutes, apparently.
That's right. Or around that. Well, they're all about that. They brisk 78 minutes, apparently. That's right.
Well, they're all about that.
They're all pretty brief.
That's true, yeah.
I just had to write the title into my notes,
even though I'm the only one who ever looks at this
and I will never come back to this document.
But what if you die and somebody goes through your laptop?
Yeah.
Why would they?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Why do you worry?
You'll be dead.
They're looking for that Superman caravan of garbage we never released.
That's right.
So I've just written here, nonsense.
It's a nonsense movie.
Ten years ago, this doesn't work.
It's kind of one and two.
The movie's blurred together in terms of storyline.
But I liked it.
It's got a certain charm, doesn't it?
There's something about it.
It's got a certain rickety charm to it.
It's almost like a Clerks to Clerks 2 kind of like, I'm just, I like it. I'm going with it. Yeah. It's almost like a like a Clerks to Clerks 2
kind of like
I'm just
I like it.
I'm going with it.
Yeah, right.
I understand movies are different
but do you see what I'm saying?
It's like
it's a good continuation.
Uh-huh.
You know,
it's like light.
It's breezy.
It's fun.
Don't think about it.
Which is again,
I know because we're often like
don't think about it.
Maybe you should bloody think of it.
It's like
they've never made sense. No, that's true. I know because we're often like, don't think about it. Maybe you should bloody think of it. But it's like, they've never made sense.
No, that's true.
I think if they had to release this, yeah, in like 2008, this would have bombed horribly.
People would have hated it.
But I think this is the perfect time to release something like this.
Like you got that 90s nostalgia.
Okay.
Let's say we saw this at the cinema.
You paid for a ticket.
How would you feel then?
Well, first of all, I'd say, what do you think the story was?
Ah, you son of a bitch.
All right.
So Bill and Ted, we all remember from the movies,
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
Yes.
And to a lesser extent, Bill and Ted's Excellent Comic Book.
Yes.
And the TV series, which I watched an episode of.
Which one?
The animated or the real one?
The real one.
Okay, gotcha.
Anyway, in the last movie, they were like,
hey, people from the future said that you made a song
and it reunited the world and everything's cool
and you're heroes and everything's a perfect success for you,
Bill and Ted.
Yes.
But it turns out in 2020, not so much.
What?
They're a couple of losers. A couple of losers. But are they really losers? Because they have beautiful Bill and Ted. Yes. But it turns out in 2020, not so much. What? They're a couple of losers.
They're a couple of losers.
Yeah.
But are they really losers?
Because they have beautiful wives and daughters.
That's right.
And that's important.
But I mean, career-wise, they are losers.
The career-wise, very much so.
Well, I would have paid more for it to go to the movies than buy it at home.
So, yes.
I mean, no.
I wouldn't have been up.
Oh, do you mean like the physical act of going out and sitting down and watching this movie?
I'm saying if you were allowed to do that and you went, would you, would you be like,
this is not a lot of movie for $20 or whatever?
I'd be okay with it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Right.
I think.
Yeah.
Um, it feels again, it feels like sketches.
It feels like, well, the first one's kind of like sketch.
Oh yeah.
No, it look, here's the, it is very much in the style of the previous two.
Uh, it is, it feels again, it's a bit slicker. It is a much in the style of the previous two. It feels, again...
It's a bit slicker.
It is a bit slicker, but it's also a bit...
There's a lot of, like, green screen.
Yeah, the feature mostly.
I just want to emphasise, I did like this movie for the most part.
It is charming and it was a nice antidote
for some horrible other stuff that's been happening just in life.
Does this count as the good thing?
I would argue no. Probably not. It needs to be a bigger thing. Yeah, yeah. It's just a good movie. Yeah, yeah, that's been happening just in life. Does this count as the good thing? I would argue no.
Probably not.
It needs to be a bigger thing.
Yeah, yeah.
Not just a good movie.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
But it is quite, it's interesting how much they got done, I guess,
with the budget of this movie, which is $25 million,
but it does also feel a little bit like a student film.
Yeah.
I think if you release this, like you need it to seek the pre the prequels the previous
movies need to exist and obviously this is a third one but if this just came out of nowhere it would
be like what is this right what is this universe yeah who is anybody in it how does anything work
do you think you would have to have watched the previous two movies in their entirety yeah i think
so like just watching a recap, I don't think you –
if you watch the recap and then you went to this,
I think you'd be like, I am not charmed by this at all.
No.
No, absolutely not.
In fact, yeah.
Okay, how about this?
Do you think that if maybe you watch the previous two movies
when they came out or you've watched them since on video
or DVD or whatever, should you go and do a full rewatch of them
and then go and watch this?
Or should you just go?
I think you can definitely go in based on memories.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it is jarring sometimes that they're older because I haven't just watched
them,
but I think most of that is,
I don't like Keanu Reeves without a beard.
It freaks me out.
I don't like it.
What are you doing?
Stop it.
Stop not having a beard.
It's not good.
I don't like it.
But I still like these characters.
I like that they're still trying.
Like, they're still writing songs.
And they're trying at everything.
Like, they're not, like, their marriages are kind of,
they're not going great for the, no, they're going okay for the most part.
But they're still trying.
You know, they're good guys.
They like each other.
They don't argue.
They're still the ultimate best friends.
Yeah, they don't argue and get separate.
Like, they're soulmates.
Well, they are soulmates, but that, again,
and that was sort of, like, implied in the previous two movies.
It's kind of like it's been brought to the nth degree in this,
in the sense that, like, they bring their wives to couples counselling
and, like, their daughters are like, hey, dads.
It's kind of, it's a very strange arrangement they have.
Yeah.
Where they're like these innocent souls, but they sort of do everything together.
Yeah, absolutely.
And they consider their wives to be.
Like a unit?
They're all a unit.
They're all a unit, yeah.
Do they live in the same house or something?
I think they live next door in mostly identical houses, I think, yeah.
Absolutely.
I thought from the trailers that Bill had a sweat patch on his shirt
the entire time, but it's a picture of a two-headed horse or whatever.
It is, yeah, yeah.
I just, I thought that's what it was.
That was made for the movie.
I think I saw a tweet about that.
Oh, okay, right, yeah.
That represents, that's like an old school Wild Stallions.
I like it.
Oh, yeah.
I just thought it was, like, watching it on YouTube,
I'm like, why are are they what a weird choice
yeah yeah yeah
what do you think about
can we just do spoilers I guess
okay yeah let's do spoilers
look yeah look it's Ramshackle
let's let's let's
don't think about it
attempt our best to do a
it's good to see
William Sadler back his death
oh he's the best
he's good in this
and we also get a
an additional new character
I guess we'll talk about in spoilers
who I enjoyed yeah look talk about in spoilers,
who I enjoyed.
Yeah, look, the plot's not much.
And I think it... It's got the wacky, bogus journey, death and all that kind of hell stuff.
Yeah, yeah.
But it's also got the adventure through time historical figures thing.
It's like it's literally the two movies.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think it all... Like, it made me feel good at the end
and I wonder how much of that is, it's the charm of the leads, I think,
and their new daughters, I think.
Yeah, they're great.
They're really good.
Samara Weaving, who I knew before this, and Bridget Lundy-Payne,
who I've never heard of before.
Let's click on her Wikipedia page and see what else she's done.
I believe she goes by They.
Oh, okay.
Oh, yes, They are known in their role in the Netflix series Atypical
and the drama film The Glass Castle.
Okay.
Yeah.
I haven't seen any of that yet.
But they were both really great.
Okay.
Are we doing spoilers?
Hang on.
Let me just see if we can.
Let's squeeze something else out of this.
Okay, they're great.
So as you see from the trailers you visit bill and ted through
multiple points in time oh yeah yeah i enjoyed all of those different incarnations yes um i think
uh the the ending yeah the ending was kind of fun and uplifting and i and i think that's most
i think that a lot of that is just maybe to do with uh yeah the charm of the leads and kind of
like just like real life pop songs that have been sort of inserted in.
Yeah, totally.
Like there's a Cold War kid song that I'm like,
oh, this makes me feel good.
This is a nice kind of song.
And there's kind of like, yeah, look.
Okay, spoilers.
I'm going to say best movie ever, but I mean, yeah,
it's certainly not the worst.
If you've seen these movies, then this is, yeah.
It's like often they'll botch like these 30-year-old sequels
or whatever, like they're not good.
There is some good ones,
but yeah,
this is,
this is pretty,
it's probably the worst one maybe,
but you think so,
but not by like,
like technically,
I guess,
but do you want to mean,
but not,
I don't know.
Yeah.
Cause I think there's more original ideas as it goes on.
And one of them being the new character of Dennis,
the Android sent from the future to kill Bill and Ted.
He's got a full name.
Yes, he does.
Let me find it.
It's Dennis Caleb McCoy, a time-travelling robot they've built,
who's played by Anthony Carrigan, who people will know as the sort
of the albino bald-headed Chechen mob boss or whatever he is
in the TV series Barry.
He's in one of the series of Star Trek.
Which one?
Who's to say?
Or maybe the movie.
I don't know.
But he's fun as a sort of a super awkward time-travelling robot
who's been sent to do a mission, but he's...
He gets beat up a lot.
He's bad at it.
He's bad at it, yeah.
But he's a real good-natured, nice man.
I love that moment where they get sent to hell
and he's trying to have a moment with them and explain who he is.
Because they don't often get frustrated or fed up or snap,
but they're just like, great, we've got like 20 minutes.
Can you just hold up on this shit?
But also the idea that they're so, Bill and Ted are just so roll with it
in their attitude that they're like, I guess we've got to go back to hell
because they've been to hell before.
And they're like, okay, well, now we're in hell.
Let's figure out a way to get out of hell with our daughters.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
I thought the cameos were fun, but I don't think they –
Dennis was the only one of the new characters
that got fleshed out properly.
Like the other people they got through time, not as much.
Like Kid Cudi gets a fair bit of play.
Yeah. But Hendrix and Louis Armstrong, yeah, not as much. Like Kid Cudi gets a fair bit of play.
Yeah.
But Hendrix and Louis Armstrong, yeah, not as much.
Yeah, they were kind of, well, yeah, it's interesting because they,
again, like we said, this movie's about the same length as the previous ones, but I feel like, especially in Excellent Adventure,
like all the characters they stole from time had more.
Well, they get the mall scene.
Yeah, that's true.
Which you don't really get here, I guess.
Then you've got like Dave Grohl's in it for the more scene. Yeah, that's true. Which you don't really get here, I guess. Yeah.
Then you got like Dave Grohl's in it for like three seconds.
That's true, yes.
Yeah.
So, but I know it's one of the interactions I really enjoyed.
Yes.
Was Death and Dennis.
Yes.
Because Death is like the uncool one.
Yes.
You know what I mean?
When he's introduced in the previous movies he is and they kind of make fun of him in like when he does first show uncool one. Yes. You know what I mean? When he's introduced in the previous movies,
he is and they kind of make fun of him when he does first show up in this.
Yes.
But then when they're paired together,
Death is the cool one.
Cool one, yeah.
And I just thought that was really fun.
Yeah, there's a great line in there where Dennis is like,
I liked it when you said, let's rock,
because it made me want to rock.
That was funny.
That's a good line.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think they also sidestepped the whole, like,
oh, that was really the daughters,
and people get really upset about that shit.
Do they?
You know what I mean?
Like, when they're like, well, it's like with the new John Connor
and whatever, which, to be fair, was a twist that I didn't particularly love.
But, you know, I like that they brought them all together
and they're like, it's about family,
it's about different
influential people
through time
and it's everybody
coming together
somehow
because Kid Cudi
knows how to unite
everybody in life
so whatever
I think it's
I think it was a
really fun and
uplifting ending
and when they're
like rocking together
like back to back
I'm like this is cool
I like this
it's pretty cool
and that song
and it wasn't really
about the song it was about unity well that's the thing it's kind of hard to as
this movie kept going i'm like there is no way that this the song itself and i think that was a
good way to do that because again there's no and i'm like there's no way dave grohl wrote the song
right i love that and there's no way like there's no way that, again, you know, we exist in the world of the internet.
There's no way that the world would be like, we all agree this is a great song.
Oh, yeah, totally, yeah.
You're right.
Yeah, in the 90s you could probably say so.
Yeah, maybe.
Maybe, I don't know.
I don't really remember it that much.
Yes.
Because of all the LSD, baby.
Yeah.
I was a child.
I wouldn't have done that.
Yeah.
Also in the 90s, are you doing LSD in the 90s
yeah doing LSD mate
in the early 90s
don't even worry about it
yeah
I just
I mean yeah
it was
I liked it
it's good
it's likeable
if you don't like these movies
you're not going to like it
it's got a fun little post credit
so I don't know if you stuck around for that
let me
I think I remember it
let me think
they're old and they're rocking out
oh they are
they finally rock out
finally yeah that's true not finally they've been rocking're rocking out. Oh, they finally rock out.
Finally.
Yeah, yeah. That's true.
Not finally.
They've been rocking out the whole movie, mate.
I guess they rock out a bit more.
Yeah.
Who else is in this that I liked?
They get absolute minimal play, but Erin Hayes and J.
Mamey's as the princesses, the wives.
Oh, yeah.
Recast.
Recast.
There's a special thank you at the end to all the original,
because there's four other princesses.
Yes. There's the excellent adventure princesses,
and then they got recast again for Bogus Journey.
I guess they're not back for whatever reason.
They're Missy's back.
Yes, that's true.
Marrying Bill's brother.
Yeah, and people get special shouts.
The original stations get a special shout out,
and the original robots, Bill and Ted.
Do they?
I missed that.
Yeah, right at the end there's a special thanks at the end of the credits.
I didn't see that.
But I, yeah. I saw an interview online that. Yeah, right at the end, there's a special thanks at the end of the credits. I didn't see that. But I, yeah.
I saw an interview online that was like,
what did they get up to?
And I think the answer from the writers were like,
they like formed a break dancing crew
and like toured across America.
Yeah, that's probably what they would do.
That's something that I didn't think about until now.
We didn't get the Bill and Ted robots,
which we were kind of hoping for.
I think I talked about this maybe last week
that I thought it would be more like referential to like,
well, these special effects,
hell looks different than last time.
Yeah, right.
But there was literally none of that.
It was way more earnest than we thought.
And it was great.
I really liked it.
Yeah, I think the earnestness of it really kind of worked for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What else?
Gillian Bell is the psychiatrist I thought.
Oh, yeah, she was great.
She had some good moments, yeah.
She's really good.
I like, have you seen Brittany Runs a Marathon?
No.
It's on Prime.
You should watch it.
It's really good.
What's that about?
She runs a marathon.
Oh, cool.
It's really good.
Okay.
She is quite a famous that guy for me.
Yeah, absolutely.
Oh, she's in the thing.
Okay, cool.
She's in one of the jump streets.
I'm going to check.
Yeah, that's right, because she's the high school student
who's behind the drug ring or whatever it is.
Yeah, something like that.
Okay, yeah.
She's in Her Advice.
Okay, yeah, cool, cool, cool.
She's in Office Christmas Party.
Oh, she's in Sword of Trust, which I still haven't seen.
I've not seen Sword of Trust.
I can't find it anywhere.
That's a problem.
What is it?
It's the Lynn Shelton movie with Mark Maron and the Civil War sword.
Oh, you mentioned that.
Sorry, yeah, that's right.
I should find that somewhere. Yeah, you should, that's right. I should find that somewhere.
Yeah, you should find that somewhere.
Maybe I will find it somewhere.
Is there anything else we should talk about on Bill and Ted's...
Do you want another one?
Another Bill?
Yeah, I'd probably watch another one.
Sure, why not?
Yeah, I'd probably watch another one.
If people spotted other musicians in the final credits,
let me know, because Widdow was in there.
Was he? Yeah, he was in there. Was he?
Yeah, he was in there playing an accordion.
Did not see that.
And so was Mark Everett from the Eels, I think.
Oh, I didn't see that at all.
Yeah.
So Rufus got a really quick cameo.
Yep.
Apparently they were going to put a CGI Rufus in it,
but they ended up not doing it.
But I like that moment where it's like we see Ted especially being like,
oh, this is, okay, we recognize this, but then they're dragged away from it
and we realize it's just a recorded message.
Yeah, absolutely.
That was Connor.
So he just died in the future, I guess.
Yes, he died in the future.
So it was Kristen Schaal.
Did you mention her?
I didn't, but we could.
New Rufus, who I always like.
So that's, yeah.
Those are the people that are in this movie.
Yeah, we've named every person.
A single other one. Wow. Wow, wow, yeah. Those are the people that are in this movie. Yeah, we've named every person. I couldn't name a single other one.
Wow.
Wow, wow, wow.
Maybe Anthony Carrigan isn't in any of the Star Treks.
Oh.
No, I don't think he is.
Oh.
Well, I'm a real fool.
You're something of a fool, aren't you, James?
I'd be thinking of Doug Jones.
You're thinking of Doug Jones.
Yeah, I think I am.
Yeah.
All right, anything else?
No, that's the whole thing, I think.
Good stuff.
Well, look, I know I've been talking about we need one good thing.
Okay.
You know what I mean?
And I think I might be able to provide something.
Oh, you've got something in the back pocket.
Because guess what, Mason?
What is it, James?
It's time for hate mail.
Yes, go on.
The hate has an eight in it.
Oh, that's our very special segment.
Anyone can do hate mail, I feel.
There's a lot of copycats out there doing hate mail.
They think they can, but they can't, Mason.
But not everyone can do hate mail, but the hate has an H in it.
That's right.
Where we've got eight pieces of hate mail.
Which there's always more than eight.
There's always more than eight.
But it's always hate.
For those people who don't know, these are taken from YouTube comments.
Yes.
And it's just people who don't seem to like me specifically, but sometimes you.
Sometimes me.
Or a combination of us.
I cherish those, yeah.
Yeah, so there you go.
Often recurring, but not all the time.
It's like, again, it's one of those things where, like,
we're observing this in the wild.
We're just letting these things happen, aren't we?
You can't force this sort of stuff.
You can't force these sort of things.
You can't force hate.
There's a process.
There is definitely, yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
I think I actually just screenshotted one on my phone before the show
because that's often how it works.
That is a good one.
I'll start with this one.
All right, I'm ready.
This is from Lillian.
It says, this is from our Watchmen Caravan of Garbage video.
And it's from a Lillian.
Yeah.
First off the bat.
I just thought L-L-I-A-N.
L-L.
Lillian?
Lillian.
That's a man.
Could be, yeah.
I was going to say, you've really blown my mind.
Because we did talk about, before the show, messages.
It's always a man.
I mean, some usernames is like, you don't know.
I've got one from my nipples are eternal.
We don't know.
Could be a lady.
Could be a lady with eternal nipples.
So it's on the Zack Snyder.
It's on the Zack Snyder.
Watch McCabin and Garbage.
You just hate Zack Snyder, even though I have not watched it,
but I already love it.
This is the movie.
Maybe he's talking about our video.
Maybe he hasn't watched our video yet, but he loves our video.
He already loves it.
By looking at or thinking about what...
I have to read that again because it doesn't...
I can't just break that sentence in half.
You just hate Zack Snyder even though I have not watched it,
but I already love it by looking at or thinking about Watchmen.
So, two words.
Fuck you.
Yes.
That's a good, strong start.
I'm glad that one came in just under the wire there.
That's really good.
This is on our Transformers 3.
How dare we not support Zack Snyder's work unequivocally?
Even the movies they haven't seen.
Even though we said it might be good.
It was good, I think, for the most part.
But we weren't enthusiastic.
And they haven't seen, I think, our video or that movie.
We weren't enthusiastic enough for a movie that we haven't seen yet
because it's not out yet.
Yes.
We're not enthusiastic on his level.
That's right.
Or her level, but it's him.
Yes.
This is from Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon,
Caravan of Garbage, from 2011 account 22 okay shocking i would never have guessed that a bunch of sissy
aussies wouldn't like bill o'reilly got some bill o'reilly stance coming oh my goodness for the
defense as i said in that video yeah fuck that guy he sucks right like does that not do you think
does that not universally known look this leads to a lot of questions in my book.
I mean, even if you went like, even if you didn't even base it on like,
like his personal horrible beliefs concerning racism.
He was fired for like multiple sexual assault allegations.
Yeah.
Anyway.
But I just, the idea, did, were you enjoying the video up until that point?
And then you're like, whoa, look, were you like, hmm, I don't know about these sissy
boys, but they do make a fine Transformers video.
What?
They don't like Bill O'Reilly?
These sissy boys need a talking to.
They certainly do.
This is from.
Sissy Aussie boys.
Yes, that's right.
It's from HeyMatt616.
This is from our Harley Quinn video. Marble Stan. That's right. It's from HeyMatt616. This is from our Harley Quinn video.
Marvel Stan.
That's right.
Maybe.
I had to guess.
616.
Maybe.
After Mrs. Freeze ends up with Zeus, this show disgusted me.
And these dudes not even bring it up.
Just shows they're paid by DC.
Mr. Sunday movies can go fuck themselves.
Well, it is a group effort, isn't it?
I think so.
It all comes together.
Okay, but let's break this down.
Okay, I initially thought Marvel stamped,
but apparently not.
But I think he's objecting to the idea that...
That they got together?
Mr. Freeze wouldn't come back with Mr. Freeze.
Well, he died.
He did die.
That's why she...
Well, she should die in sadness and solidarity with him, I think.
She shouldn't find a new love.
I agree.
I'm going to go over to this guy.
But, I mean, obviously the fact that we didn't mention that...
Yeah.
...means we're being paid by DC.
Correct.
I'm just going to check my invoices.
Yeah.
I'm going to see if I got that check for rum.
Did it come through?
Yeah, it came through.
Specifically, don't mention that Noraese got together with Maxie Zeus
because we put that in accidentally and we don't want anyone to dwell on it.
So the fact that you didn't dwell on it or mention it,
that's all we ask is you review this show positively and don't mention
this one specific thing.
Now some people might suspect that you've deliberately omitted that
in very minor detail in your review of the show you largely enjoy.
That we watched two seasons of.
Yeah, but...
What do you do?
Anyway, that's good stuff.
This is what Parrish says.
This is from our Caravan of Garbage for our Batman vs. Predator video, which is one of people's faves.
You all talk to FFing much, and the video was probably good.
All right.
Thanks.
What did you want?
I don't know.
Less talking.
Because we get some little animations put in there, right?
Some things going on.
So maybe that's what he wanted.
Most YouTube videos are talking.
Or she, but he.
But he.
Wanted just silence and those little animations.
What if we re-release that just with the little animations and no talking?
Yeah, maybe let's just do that.
This is from My Nipples Are Eternal.
It's from Justice League Caravan of Garbage, the Zack Snyder version.
Okay, here we go.
The obly reason, only.
The only reason.
You don't know that for sure.
Maybe this is the obly reason.
The obly reason Wonder Woman made money was cucks of SJW pandering.
C-U-X.
Oh, nice. Okay.
Not wrong.
I mean, definitely wrong.
This is from OnlyGood.
I've just written here. I've made
a note here to mention that this is a brave comment.
It's on the
Edge of Tomorrow
Caravan of Garbage. It's mostly
Caravan of Garbage, obviously. Cannot believe you guys... In a way, James, if Garbage. It's mostly Caravan of Garbage, obviously.
Sure, yeah.
Cannot believe you guys.
In a way, James, if I may.
It's the title.
We're setting a trap there,
and it's not entirely these people's fault.
No, it's really not.
We didn't intend to set a trap,
but I guess that gets people engaged.
So good on us and them.
Cannot believe you guys would include the word garbage
anywhere near the title of this movie.
Tom Cruise creeps me out.
But at least I have the balls to acknowledge a great movie regardless of any pre-existing negative opinions for the star actor.
Good on him.
Is that what we did?
Brave is what I'm saying.
Maybe we should rethink.
Maybe we should rethink, I mean, you know,
when we set out to make Caravan of Garbage,
a video series which was entirely about calling out the actor Tom Cruise for all his various movies,
maybe we should have done more than just Edge of Tomorrow.
I agree.
I absolutely agree.
Instead we've just positively reviewed that movie specifically
and many others.
Yeah.
It's just fascinating.
I was thinking about it this week,
that there are people out there
who are not engaged enough with a video to watch it even like the first 30 seconds but they are
engaged enough to write a comment yes you'd think it'd be the other way around wouldn't well i think
most people don't do this though i guess that's probably true it's often hundreds of thousands
of people so you're gonna get something like this, aren't you?
Like us who just go, that video was okay and now to move on with my life.
That's right.
This isn't the Obley video on the internet.
That's right.
This is from our Man of Steel Caravan of Garbage.
It's from Karmic.
I'm ready.
It's one of my guiltiest pleasures to hear morons talk inanely about things their sadly lackey IQ couldn't possibly grasp.
Oh, this guy's good.
I like him already.
How can you tell is if laughter is forced, hateful or just weird.
That's the way the hosts laugh.
Deep down they don't believe their utter lack of getting it,
brackets, everything.
And so it ends up being.
It's not a verse.
Yes, specifically, everything. And so it ends up being. The Snyderverse. Yes, specifically Man of Steel.
And so it ends up being really funny but with the tables firmly turned on them.
Oh, hello.
Man of Steel rocks.
This commentary, essentially data for the doc who tries to help you both someday.
Good luck with that.
And then an emoji face with the tongue sticking out.
I was going to say, if there was going to be emoji, it might be
crying laughing. It's winking
with the tongue out. That's a pretty good one. But he's done
the eyes twice so it didn't come
together. Should we maybe hire this guy as a consultant?
Because he seems clever and funny.
So maybe he could...
He knows how to have a good laugh as well.
He knows how to have a good laugh. A good, genuine laugh.
That's true. Which I think is important.
I don't think he's ever laughed.
I don't think so either.
This is from Fire Merc Studio.
Trailer breakdown and things missed.
Meanwhile, they are too moronic to understand the difference
between dark side and u-ex-us.
You know how you said the proto dark side, u-x-a-s?
I don't know how to say it.
U-x-us?
I've never read it out loud.
Did I say that?
I don't know. No, we didn't say it because we saidx-us. I've never read it out loud. Did I say that? I don't know.
No, we didn't say it because we said, look, Darkside doesn't look great.
Is that who that is?
With a million comments because it was like pre.
Is that Darkside's dad?
No, it was like pre before he's Darkside.
Oh, it's like a Hot Rod Rodimus Prime situation.
Exactly like that.
Okay, right, right.
I'll never get those who.
That's his old name though, surely?
Yeah, well, yeah.
Yeah.
I'll never get those who never supported the project
making all these videos about the project,
which is more likely just for views.
It's pathetic.
But it's free marketing for HBO Max
as you all continue to talk about it.
So I guess I should say thank you for keeping the Snyder Cut relevant.
This channel has always been one step behind.
Hey, no problem.
We are doing these reviews in a lot of instances.
Yeah, it is.
And actually-
We're chasing the trends.
I don't often respond, but I said the Snyder what?
Nice.
And then there was an exchange where he's like, you're an idiot.
And I'm like, the Snyder what?
So it's just that. People can look that up. It's good stuff. Remember, we're just observing. You are falling to madness's like, you're an idiot. And I'm like, the Snyder what? So it's just that.
People can look that up.
It's good stuff.
Remember, we're just observing.
You are falling to madness, James.
We're just observing.
You are going mad, yeah.
How could we get that so wrong, James?
I don't know.
It's dark side before he becomes big dark side.
Yes.
It's really important.
Krishna says.
Because, James, it's really important that for financial success
of the Snyder Cut that the only people who watch it are people
who know the difference between Darkseid and a differently named Darkseid
before he was Darkseid.
There should be some sort of test before you're allowed to purchase it.
Yeah.
And they ask you who's this and if you say Darkseid.
Can it be multiple choice or no, you have to know it?
No, you have to say you know that.
Because I mean maybe like 25% of people would guess it, wouldn't they?
And I think that's what Zack Snyder would want.
He'd want people who only know, like just really irritating people
in a cinema who will just really and on demand
who will just not make the money back so he'll never get
to make another movie, you know?
I agree.
That is exactly what he wants.
That's what I want.
As from Krishna says, this is an Inception,
Caravan of Garbage.
Oh, yeah, try and create that kind of movie.
Your mind wouldn't even handle that much stuff.
Go watch Barbie Girl.
The aqua film clip?
The aqua video clip.
Okay, all right.
I haven't watched that in years.
Maybe I'll watch Dr. Jones.
I actually did go and watch that.
I went, I should watch that.
Is it related in any way to the movie Inception?
No, I don't think so.
I don't think it is.
Maybe it is, but we don't get it.
Is he suggesting that a movie we liked we couldn't make?
Yeah, well, that's true.
How dare we?
This is from L. Tlikmek.
I don't know.
L. Tlikmek.
Just a series of letters. Nice. Some know. L-Tlik-Mek.
Just a series of letters.
Nice.
Some are uppercase and some are lowercase.
Batman v Superman Caravan of Garbage.
Go on.
Does yours show is on Caravan of Garbage?
It should be S-H-I-U-D.
Probably shouldn't have put that one in.
I liked how we made fun of that sad man who cannot spell.
I know.
Do you think he's done that on purpose?
I don't know.
Do you think he's one of those guys who's like, everything's ironic?
See, sometimes they sneak through.
You can see like the English is the second language and I don't need this.
I don't want this to be that.
Yeah.
And I'm going to be like, look at this guy who doesn't speak English.
So I don't know.
Well, now it's just look at this guy who's dumb.
That's good.
I like that.
Mike says. Oh, Mike. Yeah. First at this guy who's dumb. That's good. I like that. Mike says.
Oh, Mike.
Yeah.
First of all, get a better username, Mike.
Be Marvel Mike or DC Mike.
Yeah.
Or Snyder Cut Mike.
Yeah, the good ones.
Yeah.
So this is on, I think it's on Inception Video.
Nolan achieved.
Nolan Mike.
Nolan Mike.
Nolan fan Mike.
Big number one stan.
Yeah, Memento Mike.
Memento, that's a good one.
Mike Mento. Mike Mentos. The Freshmaker. That doesn one stan. Yeah, Memento Mike. Memento, that's a good one. Mike Mento.
Mike Mentos.
The Freshmaker.
That doesn't make any sense, Mason.
You've gone too far.
No, it does.
Nolan achieved more with this film alone than you will with your entire life.
That's probably true.
Wait a minute, James.
Wait a minute.
Christopher Nolan achieved more with a multi-million dollar movie
than we have in this room?
Our entire life.
Without multi-million dollars?
Yes.
That's right.
One of the most influential and thought-provoking films
of the modern era with a massive impact on pop culture.
Which one are we talking about?
I think it's Inception.
Why would you even make this video?
What kind of lame-ass channel is where you pretend
that you have one hundredth of the talent these directors have
didn't even watch one second of this video never watched any of your your videos you are no one
and your followers are even less than you oh come on mate uh inception is a work of art that will
stand the test of time i have already forgotten this video exists before even commenting on it
and i wrote yeah but leave a like.
So you forgot about it Memento style.
Yeah, before he wrote the comment.
Pretty incredible.
Well, that makes sense because, again, we did like that movie, I think.
Now I've got one more, but it's not even directed at us.
And there's a lot, so I'm not going to read all of it. Okay, go on.
But I figure it's worth, it's from Master Guns.
Okay.
But it's Master because it's two S's.
Well, then you should probably tread lightly here
because he is a master of guns.
That's true.
And he will.
This is from the Batman trailer breakdown video.
The top of this title.
But you've cheekily titled 10 Things Missed.
Did we cover 10 things?
I don't know.
I don't think it's relevant because he says,
why people hate Brendan Schaub.
Do you know who that is?
Nope.
He's one of Joe's Brokens.
He's one of the Joe Rogan bros.
Joe Brokens.
What's his name again?
Brendan Schaub.
It's spelled S-C-H-A-U-B.
Schaub.
I might be saying it wrong.
And he's on like when Joe Rogan's in the studio.
That would do a fight thing and whatever,
or bring him in and be like, how's your stand up, Brendan?
And he's like, I love stand up or whatever. I'm brendan shaw we're just you know like when i'm
down at the comedy store it's like it's like being alive regular people don't understand what
it's like to have mates i have a full and complete picture of everything that brendan shaw is
is liking about okay i get it well this guy does too because brendan shaw thinks that people don't
like him because he's successful but in reality people don't like him because he's successful, but in reality, people don't like him because he's a douchebag asshole
who isn't as funny or as nice as people believe he is.
Here are some reasons why people don't like him,
and there's links to everything here as well.
One.
I didn't know you could do clickable links in YouTube.
You can.
He's a liar and a hypocrite.
Two.
He's a bully.
After his college roommate told Shaw not to eat his leftovers,
he spat on them and threw his roommate through a glass door
because the roommate stood up for himself.
Three, he's a yes man, agrees with Joe Rogan
and almost anything Joe says.
Four, he's a sycophantic yes man.
Five, he's a liar, talks shit about Nate Diaz
then proceeds to lie about what happened when he talks to Joe Rogan.
Now that's a fight guy, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, about what went down.
Six, he's a scumbag.
Thinks homeless people are insignificant and aren't worth the energy
or worth mattering.
Well, that's pretty scumbag.
Yeah, I don't like that either.
Seven, he's a dirty scumbag.
Sure, I'm going to the ends of the earth to defend international eye gouging
in the UFC.
Says fighters understand it.
Chin and Callan both in disbelief.
Whoa, I'm not surprised they're Both in disbelief Whoa I'm not surprised
They're both in disbelief
Number eight
He's a filthy dirty scumbag
Shawb and Callan
Once again
Defending pedo teachers
Shawb sarcastically says
Oh no kid
Is probably damaged
For the rest of his life
Boo hoo
Nine
He's a sociopath
This guy's got his own
Hate mail going on
He does
He's from a Batman video
He's a sociopath
No empathy Good he reminded me of that Because I was losing the thread A little bit Talks about his girlfriend's He's got a great male going on. He does. It's from a Batman video. He's a sociopath with no empathy.
Goody reminded me of that because I was losing the thread a little bit.
Talks about his girlfriend's grandma dying and uses it as content filler
so he can plug ads for CBD and then callously proceed to undermine her death.
Ten, he's delusional.
Tried to convince former Olympic boxer Tony Jeffries
that Conor McGregor would outbox Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
Oh, my God.
Eleven, he's a delusional arsehole. What a God. Eleven. He's a delusional arsehole.
What a triangle of fighters.
He's a delusional arsehole.
Signs up to fight Robert Cyborg Abreu in a submission grappling match and proceeds to
run away for the entire fight.
Twelve.
His delusional disgusting arsehole tries to justify drunk driving and questions whether
a drunk driver who killed a passenger should not go to jail.
Twelve.
He's unprofessional.
Thinks he's the epitome of hard work and professionalism,
yet does shit like this.
James, I'll stop you.
It's epitome.
We're going to get letters.
Yeah, I know.
Sorry.
Did I say epitome?
Yes, it is.
Sorry, I'm reading quickly.
Yeah, there's 27 points.
So I'm not going to read them all.
And then there's six more points on how his views on the COVID-19.
And I'm like, this is a very convincing document.
Yeah.
But I don't know why it's here.
But there we go.
Weird one to end on, I guess.
No, I liked it.
I think it's good we know all these things about Brendan Schaub.
He doesn't believe masks work.
He spreads misinformation.
Come on, Brendan Schaub. He calls people pussies for wanting to wear masks outdoors. Brendan Schaub. He doesn't believe masks work. He spreads misinformation. Come on, Brendan Schaub.
He calls people pussies for wanting to wear masks outdoors.
Brendan Schaub.
Yeah, there you go.
Man, this guy really is the epitome of all the things that I –
I'm a teacher, Mason.
That's embarrassing.
It's – yeah.
I make fun of people's spelling errors so they can't even read.
You did read it very fast.
Anyway, that's Hate Mail, but the hate has an eight in it.
Hooray, we did it.
I think this is a very good one.
Was it? I can't tell.
I liked all those ones. I could have read that whole thing,
but does anyone want 27? MVP of this
week, I think, was the guy who was like, I think
you'll find, you know the guy I'm talking
about. I know the guy. Because I think you'll
I'm actually laughing at you.
No, I'm actually laughing. Or was it
the guy who said
I didn't watch this
video, but how dare you?
I think it might be that guy.
Well, I think there was a couple of those this week.
Yeah, maybe.
Yeah, there we go.
Good stuff.
Do you know what it's time for?
I think it's time for our famous segment, What We Readin', and then What We Going To Read.
That's right.
Don't worry, everybody.
If you heard a computer noise, that was my computer.
It wasn't your computer.
Don't even worry about it.
I'm doing the thing.
Westworld. I'm doing the thing. What are we reading today?
What are you reading, Mason?
Funny you should mention it.
Is it?
Yeah, because this is time for the segment.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm actually laughing at you.
Sorry, go on.
Please continue.
That's a fake laugh that I just did.
That was real.
It felt real.
Go on.
What were you saying?
Because this is the segment where we talk
about the stuff where we were reading and watching
and et cetera. I started watching
today Teenage Bounty Hunters. Have you seen that on Netflix?
I haven't. Is it good? It's funny. It's good. Is it a series
or a movie? It's a movie? It's a series. It's a series of movies.
Yeah, no, it's a series. How many movies is it?
Probably like eight or ten
movies probably, yeah. So like the length of each
episode is how long? Like 40 minutes.
So that wouldn't be eight to 10 movies, would it?
Oh, my God.
Because the movies say an hour and a half minimum.
This absolute son of a bitch.
He's railroaded me into this situation.
I'd say there's probably two and a half movies.
It's a television series.
Go on.
A web television series because it's on the internet.
Is it funny?
Yeah, it's funny.
I'm actually laughing at you, but go on.
Oh, my God.
Anyway.
It's on Netflix, yeah.
Yeah, it's about a couple of private school girls in like the south in America.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's about a couple of private school girls in like the south in America. Yeah, right.
And they muddle their way into, I mean you can probably figure this out from the trailer,
but they muddle their way into like working in the employ of a real bounty hunter.
Ah, a dog's a bounty hunter?
No, it's a different guy.
His name's Bowser.
Bowser?
Yeah.
Ah.
But it's kind of funny and they're sisters and there's like a funny sort of mechanic because they're sisters.
They have like a sibling like communication system like, you know,
how you can communicate with somebody across the room.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, cool.
So they work that in really well.
Yeah, it's good.
Good funny show.
Okay, great.
I'll check it out.
I've never seen them before in anything.
I haven't heard anything about this.
That's good.
Outside of what you – I mean, I saw it but I didn't know anything about it.
There you go.
What's the kind of thing?
It's got that kind of generic title where I'm like, okay,
it looks like darts on a dartboard, like words on a dartboard,
kind of like what about bounty hunters, but they're teenage bounty hunters
kind of thing, but it's actually good.
It's actually good?
Yeah.
Cool.
Okay.
I'm going to check that out.
Also, something that I never finished because it was on YouTube,
red YouTube, you've got to pay for YouTube.
Yeah, I got that.
Cobra Kai is on Netflix now.
It is.
So I'll probably watch that as well.
And then the third.
I think the third will be.
Oh, okay, cool.
If you've seen the trailer.
Yeah, right.
The villain from the second movie, I think.
It's hints towards him.
Oh, movie, you say.
The guy who's dressed like Scorpion.
Oh, yeah, right, right, right.
And they've got the little drums.
Okay.
And Daniel LaRusso's like, I'm getting beat up.
Okay, sure.
The little drums will help though.
Yeah, right.
And they do.
Oh, cool.
Yeah, that's great.
I really like that show.
Do you know what I've been watching?
What's that?
The first two episodes of Lovecraft Country.
I was going to say, side note, if this is successful somehow,
Oh, yes.
Cobra Kai, I think it would be good if a bunch of other YouTube
originals made it onto Netflix.
Like Logan Paul, maybe he's in school or something Like Logan Paul, maybe he's in school or something?
Logan Paul, maybe he's in school or something.
Or I think I mentioned a while back the show Wayne,
which is about like this weird delinquent kid.
Okay.
Who can't let injustice settle.
Okay, I haven't seen that one.
Champagne Showers, did you ever see that?
Didn't see that.
I think that's got Adam Powley and is it called Champagne Showers?
Oh, no, it's not called that.
What is that series?
What are you thinking of?
It's called Champagne Something.
And Adam Pally is in it.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm going to figure this out.
That's an LMFAO song.
It's called Champagne Something.
Hang on.
I'm going to find this.
I need to know.
All I'm saying is you better find this.
Champagne Ill.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's good.
I liked it.
I think it's only one season. Yeah, it's good. I liked it. I think it's only one season.
Yeah, it's YouTube premium.
Let's just chuck them all on Netflix.
And Sam Richardson, yeah. Because guess what? I don't want to pay for another
service. You don't have to, Mason.
You don't have to. I don't want to pay for another one.
You do not have to. So check it out.
I think you should check it out. It's good. It's cancelled, but it's good. It's one season.
Alright, Lovecraft Country.
Okay, tell me about it. Two episodes.
So it's, the first episode is terrific.
I mean, don't spoil too much.
I'm not going to spoil.
I'll try not to.
Have you only watched two episodes because there's only two episodes out so far?
There's only been two out, but I think there'll be three by the time this comes out.
But it's a fantastic season opening and there's hints of this world of Lovecraft
and it's a cross-country story and it's racism in America in the 60s
and it's music and it's cast, like, really well.
And it's got – who played Black Canary in Birds of Prey?
Oh.
Jurnee Smollett?
Yeah, Julie Smollett-Bell.
Yeah, and she's great in it as well.
And then the second episode is like a season's worth of exposition
and crazy Lovecraft stuff in one episode.
And it's a bit much.
Like it's a bit like this is a lot but it's still super compelling and weird.
Interesting. But the lore isn't really fleshed out, but it does then set up
the rest of the season.
The first one in particular
was great. If the first episode
wasn't so great,
I'd be like, oh, the second one was
also good, but the first episode was
so good. Intriguing.
And it's all the lore of the
Lovecraft universe. Okay, so
I guess my question is, without spoiling too
much, if you can, is this a world
that explores sort of real life
issues through the lens of a fictional
Lovecraft thing, or is Lovecraft real?
Lovecraft is real in this universe.
So all the Cthulhu mythos is real. Yeah, but it's not
like, yeah, exactly. Yeah, so
it's kind of, yeah, the second
episode you really just like,
it felt like I'd missed an episode.
Do people think in this universe the Cthulhu mythos is fictional?
I don't believe so, no.
Okay, right, right, right.
Do people know about it?
Is the world at large aware of this sort of stuff or no?
I don't think so.
I mean people know of Lovecraft but beyond that not really.
They know of H.P. Lovecraft?
Yes.
Huh.
So they think they wrote.
Because, you know, he's famous.
No, I know that, but the Cthulhu mythos is also real.
Yes, but they don't think that is real, is what I'm saying.
Oh.
I believe.
I'm very confused, but tell you what, I'll watch them also.
Lovecraft is real?
The man.
Yes, and these mythologies are real.
I think that's how it works.
Okay, right.
So in this universe he may have been writing about something
that was in fact real.
Okay, right.
But you don't know yet.
No, we don't know.
Maybe I've misinterpreted the whole thing and maybe that's not how it is at all.
That's what I took from it.
Well, let's all misinterpret it together.
Also I saw that I have a code for Marvel's Avengers sitting in the inbox,
which I can start on September 1st.
And I just don't know if I'm going to.
But this is the finished version.
Finished game. Finished product. I can play it. But this is the finished version. Finished game.
Finished product.
I can play it in like two days.
I guess I probably should.
You can get a new suit for Iron Man.
I don't.
Maybe his outer space suit.
You know, the one that's sort of white and grey.
I know, but they revealed a whole bunch of like things you can get,
but it's only cosmetic changes and whatever.
But I don't like the Sony.
But James, he's got a new suit.
Got a new suit, yes.
He's always got a new suit. I know, right? But now you can get a new suit. I don't like the Sony. But James, he's got a new suit. He's got a new suit, yes. He's always got a new suit.
I know, right?
But now you can get a new suit.
I don't need a new suit.
I don't go out.
James, you kind of need a new suit.
Come on, mate.
But I don't like the Spider-Man thing.
It's just the barrel with the leather straps on it.
It's holding it up.
When you think about it, James,
it probably cost her a lot to build that barrel.
It probably did, no doubt.
It's probably because you've got to
boil the wood to
bend it. Yeah, it'd be cheap, but it's just buying
your suit. I don't know why you've got this. Alright, I'll get a new suit.
But I mean, you've already outlaid
the money for the barrel situation, so
I mean, you're just chasing your losses
at this point, so maybe just don't buy a new suit.
You know what I mean? Are you going to play it?
I don't know.
It's free.
You could have this code.
I guess I could.
It's also 90 gigs.
I'm like, oh, I've got to delete some stuff.
In Australia, downloading 90 gigs on your home internet connection,
it's a sacrifice you have to make.
It really is.
It'll cripple me for the month,
and then it's like $10 for every additional 10 gigs
and it's like the biggest plan.
Or you get to like go down to dial-up speed for this game, you know?
Yeah, but I wouldn't be playing online.
Just so, you know, I don't know, man.
I guess I'll look at it for this but I'm not interested.
Look, I'm more than happy to wait a week for the final judgment.
I definitely wouldn't pay for it.
I would not buy this game.
I think I want to wait for like, you know,
Square Enix and Marvel fanboys to weigh in and be like,
this is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Or, you know, the opposite side of people going like,
this is crushingly disappointing and then find the middle ground,
find some sources that I trust and be like,
is this going to be the game for me?
And if it is, maybe I'll give it a crack.
I might just keep playing.
I just want big action set pieces that are kind of different
and interesting.
Like for all the times we have said Marvel Ultimate Alliance,
the early ones were not great.
You do fight Galactus in that.
You fight on the shield Helicarrier.
You fight in alien worlds.
If I could just do like the single player, just those missions,
maybe part of me is like, eh.
Then I'm like even the idea of like
doing the bridge sequence again at the start i'm like i did that yeah like the idea that you know
you've got this marvel universe and you am i am i going to the cree home world am i going to to
probably not am i going to um an aim facility yeah we're going to Asgard.
Am I going to these places?
If I am, then I want to see that rainbow bridge.
But if I'm not.
Aim facilities.
If it's just a lot of aim facilities, then I don't know if it's worth the investment
because I can just watch a Let's Play on YouTube.
I feel bad because a lot of people obviously worked on this,
so it's not their fault that it's been designed this way
to grind resources and all this kind of different skins and shit.
And it's ongoing forever.
It's like we're going to support this game until the day that you die
or whatever.
You specifically, James.
Sooner rather than later then, eh?
James, no.
So I guess I'll play some of it if I get time.
But also I'm not happy about that 90 gig.
Like if it was Spider-Man, the next one, in a heartbeat, man.
I hope you're going to get that Spider-Man exclusive.
Yeah, but I'm not getting a PS5 until like a few years down the line,
I think.
But no, definitely not.
Like I just couldn't. I wouldn't buy this.
I know some people are keen, but having played it, my advice is wait.
Did you see the trailer for the Doom Eternal expansion pack?
No, I didn't.
Looks pretty good.
I haven't started Doom.
I mean, that game's too hard for me, but still.
That's because you need to get good, Mason.
Yeah, I should get good.
Also, just want to mention Milan is out this week.
The boys are out this week.
So we'll probably – that's the next episode.
One or both.
Certainly the boys.
The boys.
Yeah.
And Milan.
And Milan.
Almost certainly both.
We could maybe do a separate video.
We can get time for both, yeah.
Yeah, that's right.
Is that it, Mason?
I think that's the whole bit.
We've got to move this along so I can have dinners.
That's true.
You're going to have multiple dinners.
That's right.
It's all of my life. Wow. What do you have for dinners? Mr. Moneybags over here. That's true. You're going to have multiple dinners. That's right. It's all of my life.
Wow.
What do you have for dinners?
Mr. Moneybags over here.
That's right.
I steal my neighbors.
Yeah.
I might cook a pork medallion.
Oh, yeah, because you're doing your meat clubs, aren't you?
Do not have a meat club.
He's got a meat club.
He gets meat delivered to his house.
I do get meat delivered to my house, but it's not a club.
It's a meat club.
They meet up.
Meet up.
That's how they suck at me.
And they're like, guys, you want to meat up?
And I'm like, oh, that clever wordplay has got me in.
They trade minces and experiences and different spices that they've used.
I made myself a Morton Bay bug burger this week and it was amazing.
Did they give you the whole bug?
Because it looks like a big cockroach.
No, it was like a shelled bug.
I was going to say, if you've ever seen one, it looks like a big cockroach.
It came as like a big thing of meat.
Anyway.
Where did you get the recipe?
From your meat club?
I just winged it.
You winged it?
I made some garlic butter and I winged it.
Did you?
With support on Zoom from the meat club, obviously.
Might make a steak.
Who knows what I'll do for dinner, James?
You're out there.
I like that.
Maybe I'll go meat free.
Maybe.
For the evening.
You think so?
Maybe.
Do a mushroom burger.
Just don't have a burger if you're going to have a mushroom burger.
Or just have mushrooms and eggs or something. I'm eating eggs, mate. You think so? Maybe. Do a mushroom burger. Oh. Just don't have a burger if you're going to have a mushroom burger. Or just have mushrooms and eggs or something.
I'm eating eggs, mate.
You ready for the next thing?
I like that Impossible Burger or whatever it's called.
I've never had one.
The Beyond Burger.
They're pretty good.
What's the best one, would you say, here?
Yeah, the Beyond Burger.
Yeah, okay.
That's good.
Because I know there's one up the street from me that does one.
I might grab one this week.
Surprisingly good.
Yeah, no, I've heard good things.
They've figured it out.
Yeah.
All right, you know what it's time for?
Oh, is it time for lettuce? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I should do the lettuce thing. The classic good. Yeah, no, I've heard good things. They figured it out. Yeah. All right, you know what it's time for? Oh, is it time for letters?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I should do the letters thing.
The classic one was letters, oh letters, we love you.
Some letters, they're only here to take my way.
They're here right now, we're going to do letters.
Ba-dum-bum.
Nice.
Hey, man.
Yes?
You can send letters and that's cool.
And you can do it to weeklyplanetpod at gmail.com or hashtag weeklyplanetpod.
We love letters.
Do you have any letters this week?
Yeah, I've got so many letters.
We only need one.
I mean-
You can do more than one.
Okay.
What do you got?
Well, this one is from, it says, from the Caribbean.
This is from Darian S.
Hello.
Hey, guys, just want to let you know you've got listeners.
Well, listener from Trinidad.
Keep up the good work.
Regards, Darian. Yeah. Thank you know you've got listeners. Well, listener from Trinidad. Keep up the good work. Regards, Darian.
Yeah.
Thank you, Darian.
Yeah.
Often, like less so these days, but like on previous hosting providers,
they would give you all the geo data.
They would.
I think you can get it.
But there's always ones that are like, this month,
one download from Trinidad.
And it's like, whoa.
Well, now we know it's from Darian.
Thanks, Darian.
Thank you, Darian.
We very much appreciate that.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
I got one from Nick.
Nick says, I just watched Superman Man of Tomorrow.
Have you seen that animated one that came out?
And it's really good origin with a fun cast.
Have you checked it out?
Hashtag weekly punner pod.
I reached out about Young Justice a few episodes ago.
No more Avatar means no more excuses.
We're still doing Legend of Korra.
Okay, yeah, we can totally do that.
No, I haven't watched it yet, but I'm interested in the style
and the storytelling of that universe. And it's not five movies yet, but I'm interested in the style and the storytelling of that universe.
And it's not as like, it's not five movies in, so I'm like,
oh, I missed the one with Darkseid, so I don't know.
Superman's wearing a collar, is this the same?
Yeah.
Anyway, go on.
Often you have to determine which Superman it is by what collar.
What collar?
Or belt, sometimes it's a belt.
That's right.
That's from Sarah Nolte.
She says, all right, not all right, you still reading these? Sometimes, we'll read one. Great question, Sarah. Sometimes it's a belt. That's right. That's from Sarah Nolte. She says, all right, not all right.
You still reading these?
Sometimes.
We'll read one.
Great question, Sarah.
Hello, James and May.
So I'm not sure if you're still reading this all right, not all right emails, but I just
thought I would send an email anyway.
I'm doing overall all right, especially comparing to the past month where I was pretty decidedly
not doing all right.
I moved back to my Boston apartment in July to start getting ready for school.
Did you park the car when you got there?
Got it.
Thank you.
Sucked in, Sarah.
Gotcha.
And surprise, surprise, COVID cases started rising again shortly after I arrived.
I sat with my two roommates, spoilers, former longtime friends,
to discuss taking more precautions and going out less,
and they instead decided that was too hard and told me to just move out
and get my own place.
Great.
Brutal.
So the last month of my life has been spent crashing at my friend's place,
living out of my suitcase.
That's a pain in the ass.
And moving all of my possessions out of my old apartment
to move back in with my parents to a new place in rural Maine.
Oh, cool.
Yeah.
Lobster rolls.
Enjoy the lobster rolls while you're in Maine.
Speaking of.
Yes.
I'm trying Morton Bay.
Bug, too late.
You can't.
You can have a Morton Bay wherever that is
Morton Bay's probably
a factory
I'd imagine it would be
so the thing
like take
I mean
moving back to your parents
saving money
spending some quality time
nothing wrong with that mate
nothing wrong with that
but at least now
I'm glad to be far away
from all the dumbasses
in Boston
who hate social distancing
and I can observe
from afar
as my university
probably goes back
to online classes anyway.
Plus, while I was crashing at my friends,
I forced them to watch plenty of Mr. Sunday.
I think his favourite was the BBS Caravan of Garbage.
Thanks for all you guys do.
I always look forward to listening to the pod every Monday.
Hope you guys are doing all right.
We are doing all right.
You're doing great.
Yeah.
Is that the show then?
I've got more as well.
Oh, you've got more?
No, that's good.
I'm glad you're doing well.
What is this, some sort of game of chicken
of who's got more content for the podcast?
This is from Simon says, what's the deal with Martian Manhunter?
In the comics and possibly in the Snyder Cut.
Hashtag weekly planet pod.
Oh, he's from Mars.
His whole family's dead.
Everyone's dead.
It's just him.
He pretends to be a police officer and you can't light him on fire because he fucking
hates that.
But I mean.
You can.
Yeah.
But he doesn't like it.
I mean, you definitely can.
Yeah.
But I mean, that's all of us, isn't it?
Yeah. He's like Superman, but he's not attractive
so people don't like him.
So that's... Yeah, that's pretty accurate.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, and there's white Martians and green Martians
and there's like a whole war going on
that he might be the last of his kind
and whatever. And his name's John Johns.
That's right, yeah. Is that everything?
I think that's pretty much everything, yeah. And the Snyder Cut, he's
the general. Next.
Oh, look, this is from Mishan Jethwa.
It says, what Chadwick Boseman did for me.
I hope you guys are keeping well during the lockdown.
I just thought I'd write a little thing about what Black Panther meant to me.
Let me first say I'm an Indian male who's been fortunate enough
to spend a large portion of my life living in Kenya.
My family are East African Indians and proudly so.
The impact the movie Black Panther had on my life was monumental.
I'm not the first to say it and I certainly won't be
the last, but this film moved me in a way that other
films seldom have. It was the first time in my lifetime
that I'd seen Africa portrayed in a positive way,
not as a war-torn backwards continent
painted with a brush that doesn't deserve,
but in fact as a wonderful and beautiful place to live
from the costumes to the music to the language.
I agree, great costumes. That's very true.
It is often like, look at this blood diamond,
look at these murderous warlords.
Chadwick Boseman's performance, however, was something more.
He was not only incredibly strong and powerful in his performance,
but he radiated an aura of invincibility
that is rarely attributed to men of colour in the Western world,
let alone a black man.
He was, from the little I knew of him,
a good man in every such way
and deserved all the accolades and praise he received.
Dylan Thomas' poem, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,
is particularly apt and relevant today and I cannot think of anyone,
knowing what we now know, who demonstrates the beauty and message
of this poem better than Chadwick Boseman.
Stay safe, guys, from Sian.
That's a great message, man.
It is a great message.
I think so too.
That's really cool.
See, that's just like...
In a way, that's what we should have said.
Yeah, why didn't we do that up top, Mason?
Right, right.
We could have rambled our one here at the end.
Oh, well.
That's great, though.
That's really cool.
See, it's important.
Representation is important.
Anyway, guys, keep letting us know if you're right or not all right.
Let us know if you're doing some – what are you doing?
What are you cooking?
Are you in a meat club?
What are you doing?
To be clear, I'm not in a meat club.
He is.
He's in a meat club.
I'm not in a meat club.
It's called the Meat Lads. It's called
More Meat, More Men. That's what it's called.
It's only for men. I like that.
Big fan of that.
I would join More Meat, More Men.
There's some confusion from some of the messages
as they get short. Yeah, for sure.
The branding is a bit muddled.
As long as you get the meat you want.
Doesn't matter. You get whatever meat you want. Doesn't matter.
You get whatever meat you need in that club.
So that's important.
Where did you get involved in this meat club?
Where did you hear about it?
It was on Facebook or something, I think.
So there is a meat club.
There's not a meat club.
It just sounds like that there is one. There's not a meat club, though.
Okay.
I think I had another letter.
It's about the three jokers.
I haven't read that yet.
We'll save that for another week.
Yeah, for sure.
That's a great one to end on.
Do you want to bring us home?
Yes.
Thank you, everybody, so much for listening.
Even if you're bloody from, especially if you're from bloody Africa,
or if you're from the other places.
The other place.
Trinidad?
What did we say?
I think it was Trinidad.
Terrific.
I'm going to check.
Trinidad. He's checked, everyone. Or if you're from a different place.
Yeah, that's fine too. Thank you everybody for
telling your friends and making them watch Mr. Sunday
videos and all that sort of stuff.
We definitely appreciate that and
subscribing. I would say one in five like
it. Roll the dice. Yeah, that's right.
A five-sided dice. That's right.
I think there is that.
You can get a five-sided dice. I know. That's why I said it, Mason. I didn't say as if there's a five-sided dice. Or's right. I think there is that. You can get a five-sided dice. I know.
That's why I said it, Mason.
I didn't say as if there's a five-sided dice.
Or you can do 1D6 minus one if you want.
I don't do that.
Okay, fine.
And if it's zero, you roll again.
That's how that works.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Anyway.
Or you can leave a nice review.
James, you got a nice review there?
I got two nice reviews.
Oh, my goodness.
This one is from TheHypnotic1.
Two half bricks up.
Great podcast.
You can do this in app, by the way, Mason.
Did you know that?
That one guy and the other guy are incredibly entertaining.
I went back and I was listening to old episodes and was genuinely thrown off
by the one where the kid didn't say, what are we, Westworlding?
Best podcast ever.
Another one's from JTB Drum.
It says, don't be a Jerry.
If you listen to this, you are a real Jerry if you know what I mean. If you don you listen to this, you are a real Jerry, if you
know what I mean. If you don't listen to this,
you're a real Jerry. Do it in an app. It really helps.
We really appreciate it. On whatever app
that you use. Exactly right. But

That's coming up.
Oh, is that a spoiler?
Ah.
I think commentary's up. Rise of Skywalker commentary.
That's right, yeah. We've done the big sandwich.
The Joker's the next one to come up. That's right.
Little sizzle there for you.
Sizzle for your steak. The big sandwich classic comic
book club. We talked about
My Life as a Weapon. My Life as a Weapon from
Hawkeye and Batman Year One.
We'll probably do an image book.
We're still discussing it. We'll discuss it off air.
I think I got it.
I've got a little idea.
I'm interested.
Something I've never read, so maybe I'll get on that.
Have I read it?
Yeah, you've read it.
Oh, thank God.
You won't stop banging on about it.
Good.
For God's sake.
But also our podcast, We Got This Covered Covered,
is also up there.
Yeah.
And all sorts of other stuff.
That'll be out by now, a new episode.
Very nice.
Yeah.

Yes.
Nice.
Anything else?
That's the whole show.
Thank you for listening.
Oh, thank you to the Bruton

and Rackham
for all their musical themes
and we've got some T-shirts

have bought the
Robbat and Bat and Bat
T-shirt.
That's courtesy of our friend
over at Weekly Planet Posters

who is through great,
he's very dedicated to turning the dumb things we say
into movie posters.
He won't stop doing it.
He won't stop.
We appreciate it.
Yeah.
But he's come up with this t-shirt design,
Robat, Bat and Bat.
And it's a delight.
It is a delight.
You can check that out.
Yeah, that's right.
For free, but then you have to buy it.
You have to buy it.
You can look at it for free. Yeah, that's fine. That's what he's told us. He's like, look, it's for free. Yeah. a delight. You can check that out. Yeah, that's right. For free, but then you have to buy it. You have to buy it. You can look at it for free.
Yeah, that's fine.
That's what he's told us.
He's like, look, it's for free.
Yeah.
But buying's going to cost you.
That's what he said.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah, next week, the things we mentioned, Milan and the boys.
Can't wait.
They're very excited for both of those, actually.
If you've got opinions, send them on through and we'll see you.
About anything.
What's your favourite meat?
Yeah.
Or non-meat alternative?
Let us know.
I would love to know a non-meat alternative.
We don't get the Impossible Burger in Australia.
You said we did. No, we get the Beyond Burger.
What the fuck is happening? Why
different things are different names?
I'm too old for this shit, man.
I can't keep up. Well, you'd
know more if you were in the Meat
Lads Boys Club. No, it was called the
Meat Up.
Meat's Up for Meat Man, whatever it is.
If you joined, if you know you know
you know what I mean
it's true
