Well, it's the friend zone with Tim and Guy. Come to the friend zone and have a good time.
Yes, it's the friend zone with Tim and Guy, because making friends is the best idea of all time.
Hello and welcome along to the friend zone, a place for friendship.
And, you know, it's a it's a world of laughter, a world of tears.
It's a world of hopes, a world of tears. It's a world of hopes and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all. It's a small world. After all, it's a small world.
After all, it's a small, small world.
The world of the friend zone.
What's wrong, guy?
We're obviously in different cities, I imagine,
for everyone who just heard us trying to sing along
across a across a
vast ocean because i was having a tough time following my own non-existent rhythm when you
were like singing in all of the offbeats that it's a small world after all it's a small world but
that doesn't mean that we can uh sing in unison across new zealand and australia how are you tim
i think people will appreciate the effort i'm'm very well, thank you, Guy.
Yeah, no, I'm good. I'm good.
I had a coffee
from my coffee maker. I got given a
coffee maker by my
new father-in-law as a wedding present
and it is a real game
changer. Those things,
they're transformative
because I don't have to
go to a cafe anymore.
Oh man, that's interesting.
I love going to a cafe
because it's a reason to get out of the house.
But I love coffee,
so I'd love to be able to make it in my house.
I guess you get the best of both worlds.
You're a lot like Disney's Hannah Montana in that regard,
that you can chill it out,
take it slow at home.
Or if you want a coffee on the go,
you can rock out the show.
Guy, I'm going to pose a question to you at this early phase of this friend zone.
Have you formed some sort of relationship with the Disney Corporation since I last spoke to you?
No, no, no, no.
I don't know what you're talking about.
It really feels like there's a lot of commentary coming from the mouse's house right now.
No, man. feels like there's a lot of commentary coming from the mouse's house right now uh no man i'm just
sort of talking about some of my favorite pop culture moments pop culture references sure and
if you got a problem with that then you can get stuffed because you know what what walt disney
built uh is truly a it's a it's more than a cinematic universe it's a it's a dream
it's a dreamscape
and all of the affiliates
of the Disney Corporation also
we wouldn't be able to
have this amount of sports coverage without Disney
Star Wars
presently wouldn't exist in its current form without
Disney
I mean
how do you feel about um the abc television group
the abc television group yeah as an asset owned by disney well yeah i love them obviously i love
them if they're all if they're under the disney umbrella come on over but why guy why specifically But why, Guy? Why specifically Disney? Look, I just love Disney.
You sing along, you get it.
It's a small world after all.
You know as well as I do.
Oh, I do.
Now, the friend zone usually isn't chocker full of endorsements
sort of on behalf of the most wealthy corporations in our media.
Often, it's a time for Guy and I to catch up.
Catch up with you, our friends friends and catch up with each other so guy in in uh such a vein i'd like to ask you the
question how are you oh look man i'm i'm uh i'm pretty good thank you i'm should we not beat around
the bush should we reveal that we are recording this just after we've watched a brain film and
done a lot of recording that so you're not in the best headspace eh that's fine yeah no i'm not in the best headspace but i'm i'm having a
good time um in sydney beautiful sydney uh i just watched the trailer for the incredibles 2
which is a it's a sequel to the the movie Incredibles, which came out in 2004, which I loved.
It's about sort of a superhero family.
And to see the trailer,
I'm really excited.
I can't wait to go out to the cinema
on opening weekend
and really put my money where my mouth is
as a consumer
and check out The Incredibles.
So I'm not sure what the release date is globally,
but I can't be far away.
If they put it in the trailers,
that means it's probably coming out pretty soon. Very very happy in fact i i oh sorry what are you gonna say
no it's just gonna say i was very happy for you do you know who makes the incredibles like which
kind of studio that's coming out of no i don't i don't actually know who who makes the incredibles
thank god i think it's dreamworks from memory i was trying to quietly google it but i can't
i can't see it immediately oh actually no no if i think about it long enough i think i remember now
i'm pretty sure it's uh this is this is a walt disney pictures film hold on guy what the what
in the sam hill what is going on here mate nothing untoward nothing weird i'm just getting like
what kind of guy get excited for the
for the can't someone get excited for movies anymore is are people not allowed to enjoy
movies anymore tim no you're right you're right it's fine um sorry i interrupted you this is very
right yeah so but i i have been here for the um the comedy, which means I've had a lot of spare time in the day.
And I'll tell you,
recently I've been revisiting the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
I mean, a lot of people didn't watch.
In 2017, they released Dead Men Tell No Tales,
and it got a pretty bad rap.
Yeah.
But it's actually a lot of fun.
It's a romp, really.
Thrust into an all new adventure
a down on his
like Captain Jack Sparrow
feels the
Wenderville fortune
blowing even more
strongly
when deadly ghost
sailors led by
his old nemesis
the evil Captain
Salazar
escape from the
devil's triangle
Jack's only hope
of survival lies
in seeking out
the legendary
trident of Poseidon
Guy
Guy
If I might
this is another disney film yes
the pirates franchise that's a disney thing is it so here's what i'm going to recommend just for
the rest of this friend zone if it's cool with you we just sort of we just sort of put a lid on
the disney products we just sort of So we're going back to the old rule
that I'm not allowed to talk about
people can't enjoy movies anymore?
Just saying we're getting a lot of Disney-heavy content
and this might be a good time in the podcast
to just take a little breather from it
so we can maybe introduce some other things.
In fact, if I may be so bold,
could I share a piece of correspondence
that is addressed to both of us? lovely letter sent by e yeah yeah man don't let me stop you go
for it uh by e i mean electronic it's email yeah yeah not as opposed to snail mail correct
dear tiny tim do you know why they call it snail mail why because it takes so long like it's like a snail it's slow dear tiny tim and sir guy bush
haveston saint john mont back gomery me smith the third wait a minute have i read this one
that's my i don't know but i love i love my grandiose title and what you just you just got
tiny tim yeah that's true yeah i'm into that hold on
oh wait i have read this one it was that super lovely one about the guy and his friend
which means maybe i'm out of emails well yeah we i mean we haven't been stoking the
conversational fire very much with our beloved friends so it's not a huge surprise
but I mean
you know what was the name of the
author of that what I might do is for those
for those go ahead
Crianton
it's like Christian but there's no S in there
sort of that's right yeah
so what I thought a fun thing
a fun thing I could do and this we can keep
this up going forward actually,
is any correspondence we get from listeners and friends,
I'll give you a personalized movie recommendation
that I think custom picked by Guy Montgomery for you to enjoy.
It's fun.
It's a fun idea.
Yeah, so Cryin', I think a good movie for you would be
if you enjoyed
you know if you enjoyed the 1967 animated film of the same name then uh 2016's fantasy adventure
film the jungle book directed and produced by john favreau uh is going to be right up your street
all your same favorite characters some of your same favorite songs uh all fully realized in a very fleshed out uh and beautifully
detailed world um it's a i had a good time i watched at the cinema if you've got a big tv
you put that up on there and uh you're going to be really along for for a rollicking ride
through the jungle uh with you know friendly faces and a few fearsome faces
guy i've found another email that i am very confident we haven't read,
and it is...
Okay.
Great.
I don't quite know how to describe it
other than a block of text.
Okay.
I'm sort of...
This is...
Look, let me just start.
In parentheses.
Sorry if it's too late for this and also for
sneakily finding your email that's the amazing thing about the friend zone i've never like
given out my email on this podcast people just find it so good people know dear drip dry fly
guy with an alibi and tim burn i've been binge listening to T-Oat in the usual way.
That was spelled out.
Oh, Tweet, Tweet Oat.
I usually listen to podcasts in bed.
So I end up falling asleep mid-episode,
which means sometimes I end up listening to the same episode a few times over a few days.
It's interesting seeing what parts I remember and what parts I don't when I listen back.
It's never as simple as remembering up to a point and then not remembering at all i haven't
had an experience quite as painful as you have put yourselves through but i think i came close
when i watched all 181 episodes of yugioh gx in one month it damaged my ability to tell whether
something is awesome or terrible sometimes i get the feeling I feel very strongly about something,
but not whether I like it or hate it.
I also watched all 224 episodes of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! in under a month,
but emerged more or less unscathed.
Read my name if and only if the sum of your respective family,
uh, your favorite numbers is odd.
Let me do the math.
Uh, some of your respective favorite numbers. Well, my favorite number is 25, which itself is odd. Let me do the math. Some of your respective favourite numbers.
Well, my favourite number is 25, which itself is odd.
And if you're talking about the digits,
if we add them together, that's 7, which is also odd.
So Scott Ames has sent this through.
Now, he's got a postscript on here,
which is just a wall of text.
Do you want me to attempt it?
I would love for you to attempt it.
P.S. This might be too long to read on the friend zone, but just for fun,
here's all of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX summarized in one sentence,
followed by all of Yu-Gi-Oh! summarized in one sentence.
It's an intimidating sentence, but I promise, it's worth the effort.
So in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, it starts with jaden being late for school and he bumps into yugi who now looks
and sounds exactly like yami and he gives him a weak card that's useful now and then and jaden
jewels his way into the school against a teacher who's trying to boot him for being late and he
gets in thus earning an enemy and by the, he looks like a weird-ass clown, the teacher.
So the first season, they just spend dicking around,
not doing anything in particular,
until they realize, oh shit,
there's these evil vampire dudes coming in to get evil keys
that lock away the evil evil.
And they have to beat them all,
so they do that for a while,
and it turns out one of the teachers was the evil
dude who was really just trying to get control of the evil artifact so the actually evil dude
wouldn't get his hands on it so they defeat the teacher anyway despite him arguably not being evil
but then it turns out the teacher was a lich so he turns into a little ball of light and gets eaten
by a cat named pharaoh no relation and for the
rest of the series he periodically escapes the cat gives jaden some advice then gets eaten again by
the way there's this dude ceratosis who uh started the society of light which makes it so that anyone
who loses to them has to join their creepy cult and they talk about destiny all the time like a straw
nihilist and i remember the late the least at least about the season blah blah jayden eventually
ends up beating them and at some stage there were some jewel zombies who teleported the school to a
parallel dimension and anyone who loses to them becomes a jewel zombie but that was a separate
thing and ps there's this guy who's totally the son of the friend of the teacher who hates jayden and it doesn't matter at all
so it's the most pointless plot twist ever and ps there's this guy adrian gecko who's the supreme
king of the 17 universes none of which are the shadow realm and it matters absolutely not at
all and did i mention there's also a guy with a crocodile wandering around who also doesn't matter except he reveals at one point that he has a magic eye that doesn't
seem to matter also and he loses to evil jayden at one point to skip of head so it turns out an
evil dude was using evil bio hands to capture dueling energy from students to power up you
bell who was an evil card that jayden had when he was little
except she was killing anyone jayden defeated so he drew some space themed cards to win a contest
to get her sent into space yes really and so he got her sent into space but she came back and
possessed the arm of the son of the friend of the teacher who hates jayden and powered up all the
bio hand energy to reincarnate fully and then she kills the evil dude who helped her for no reason in particular
except to establish she's evil and she escapes with jayden with jayden's friend jayden with a
southern accent to a parallel world where if you duel you die for real so they defeat ginzo to get
there don't ask and after it turns out that despite being on camera
for the last 150 episodes or so,
Jaden was secretly an evil king guy
who was a problem for a few episodes
and had neat gold eyes.
And he defeated the guy with the magic eye
that didn't matter, remember him?
And then loses to Cyrus,
who makes him go back to normal for a while,
but keeps the power of the evil king
and they have to fight their way to Yubel the evil card but before they get there zane truesdale has already fighting her and would have
won except he was dueling with literally having a heart attack and died before he could have the
last move biggest badass in all yugioh but eventually he loses on account of being dead
and jayden has to fight you bell but secretly she was in love
with them so she polymerizes herself himself with her and now his eyes are two colors when he's
feeling cool and he gets back and oh no he can't see his cards for a few episodes so the dueling
monkey i didn't even mention from season one cheers up or something and he can see his cards
and there's an evil dude making all cards evil or something
and eventually he fights evil dude and beats him then goes back in time to jewel yugi moto before
the pharaoh left him and only then showed the first hand of the jewel and literally no one
thinks that jayden won how long have i been talking as As long as I can remember.
Well, thank you very much.
I can't remember your name after that wall of text,
but thank you for your correspondence.
What was the name?
Scott.
Scott.
Yep.
Thanks, Scott.
If you go in that sort of plot lining, as you think, then a movie that you should check out, uh, is the 2012 action, uh, blockbuster smash, John Carter.
Uh, so when the Civil War veteran John Carter mysteriously awakes on the surface of Mars, he little expects the adventure that awaits him.
Carter reluctantly becomes embroiled in an epic conflict among the Red Planet's inhabitants, including Tars Tarkas and Princess Dejah Thoris. As Basram, or Mars,
is poised on the brink of collapse, war-weary Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes
that everyone's fate is in his hands. So that's my hand-picked movie recommendation for you.
John Carter. This was released in 2012. 2012 uh famously very successful movie so that would be
my tip for scott i got a bit of correspondence here tim yep would you like me to read it out
i'd love that i've never once in my life reached out to a group a band an artist or anything before
because i genuinely assume i won't hear anything backs back because they are too busy but you guys are so great i
felt i had to reach out you guys are absolutely amazing you might not know it but you're doing a
huge community service to the world i only found your podcast two days ago and have been listening
non-stop and the two days i've gotten to episode 40 of season one oh dog sadly i didn't
find you guys earlier than i did and can't say i've been around since the start and the episode
i just finished listening to you guys wanted to know who's listening and what they're doing
i'm a musician from ireland and i'm currently learning songs and solos for an upcoming tour
in america so listening to you guys is the only thing keeping me sane strangely enough
while i'm trying to cram hours of material into my head keep up the fantastic work and thank you
for everything i can't wait to hear the rest of material into my head, keep up the fantastic work and thank you for everything.
I can't wait to hear the rest of the stuff I have to catch up to,
but also the more that is to come.
And that is from the lovely Aaron.
Well, let's give Aaron a shout out
so that they can have some success on their tour.
Aaron O'Grady is his name.
I don't know. Aaron O'Grady. I don't know i'm gonna go okay that's great and while you're
googling that i might actually give out a movie recommendation to um aaron handpicked for you
so i don't know if you can wait until 2019 but i certainly can't barely wait till 2019 when the live action Lion King will be released.
Produced and directed by Jon Favreau,
much as The Jungle Book was.
The film is a cavalcade,
a who's who of hot to trot present celebrities and actors.
Donald Glover as Simba,
Beyonce as Nala,
which is an announcement.
I don't know if you remember that came out, Tim,
but everyone got very excited about that.
Indeed.
James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.
Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Oh, God, I got that wrong.
As Scar, the villainous Scar.
You've got Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.
John Oliver playing Zazu.
I mean, it's going to be great.
The Hyenas are played by Eric Andre,
Keegan-Michael Key, and Florence Kasumba.
It's going to be a great time.
Yeah, and of course,
if you want to watch something on the way to 2019,
why not revisit the original Disney classic released in 1994, a film of the same name?
Why do we even have rules on this thing?
Well, I guess that's that's that's gonna do it i've just looked up aaron o'grady music on facebook you should everyone should
like i'm gonna like it right now i've clicked like um couldn't tell you anything about his
music can't hear it yet but seems like a great dude judging by the photos which you're not
supposed to do you can't judge a book by its cover, or Aaron O'Grady by his very cool-looking Facebook page.
Guy, I'm sorry for putting you through
the earlier movie that we did today.
I want that to be on the record.
My man, don't sweat it.
Yeah.
All I need to know is that on I think it's
June 15th
The Incredibles 2
14th of June in Brazil actually
it's getting its first run there
The Incredibles 2 is coming out
so make sure you want to
head on down to your local cinema
get there on opening weekend
it makes a huge difference
support cinema
support cinema everyone
and yeah
any other if you
want to
I'm going to grab this one guy we've got a new podcast
which is coming out shortly
quite shortly
called Overlooked and Undercooked
which follows our adventures
with some of our friends through watching
the first season of
Rob Schneider's self-funded,
self-made Netflix series, Real Rob.
It was a lot of fun to record.
We hope you enjoy it.
And please come and join us on the Patreon
to get all the content first before anyone else
and some exclusive stuff.
It would be great if you supported us you support us by
listening we appreciate that oh absolutely and any correspondence uh for our next friend zone
of course we'll get a hand-picked movie recommendation from me uh so also if you're
heading along to uh los angeles anytime soon a recommendation from my tourist list is Disneyland. It's honestly
one of the most incredible theme parks in the world. It opened in 1955, if you can believe
that, and across the 34 hectares, you will find just everything that you as a child,
it will relive in your inner child.
It's in Anaheim, so it's a little drive.
You probably have to rent a car to get out there, but they've got great facilities.
They've got themed hotels for the kids.
And you don't need to be a kid to love it because you're going to have a lot of fun there.
Surely we're done.
Surely we're done.
Surely we're good.
We're good?
Some of their most popular rides, Spl Splash Mountain you've probably heard of
Pirates of the Caribbean
the ride came
before the films
so that's an interesting
fact there
it's a small world
it's a great
it's legitimately
a good fact
it's a
well
this is all good
information Tim
yeah I guess you're right
um
see ya
guy
are you going yeah bye bye mate we're we're done okay we're done here well
so long as people are still listening i'm going to tell you about some of the great vacation
packages available if you holiday at disneyland it makes the trip planning so easy you can enjoy
all the happiness of classic disneyland park and disney californ Adventure Park, which includes the revved up and terrific Cars Land and the Dats.
