So are werewolves just a Hollywood creation or do half-man, half-wolf creatures really exist?
Now tonight, we're going to tell you about some hair-raising stories.
Now, our first takes us to a small town in southern Wisconsin where some locals say that a man-wolf has been on the loose for over 20 years.
Are there beasts roaming the earth that have never been seen before by man?
What if other life in the universe just isn't that intelligent?
That's why we
haven't found it. All of these questions you can find the answer to on THIS PARANORMAL
LIFE!
Hello everyone and welcome to This Paranormal Life, the comedy paranormal podcast where
every week we investigate a brand new paranormal tale and come to the conclusion as to whether or not it is true or it is false.
As always I am joined by the one and only Kit Grier-Molvena.
Happy to be here.
But today is a very special episode because we also have not one but two guests joining us in the studio.
Now first off we have Dan Schreiber you may know from QI,
No such thing as a fish and of course his own podcast, We Can Be Weirdos. We have Dan Schreiber you may know from QI, No Such Thing As A Fish.
And of course, his own podcast, We Can Be Weirdos.
Right beside him is Reece Darby, who you may know from Flight of the Concords,
What We Do in the Shadows, Our Flag Means Death.
But crucially, you two are here today because you also are two of the hosts
of a paranormal podcast, a little show called The Cryptid Factor.
You're joining us today for an investigation.
Guys, how are you doing?
Well, good.
It's not really a little show.
It's quite a big show, isn't it, Rees?
Yes.
It's the longest running show in New Zealand in terms of podcasting.
We started off as a radio show even before Dan's time.
But not only is our show, The Cryptid Factor, a podcast,
it's also a bit of a cryptid itself
because it doesn't always come online on a regular time.
It's hard to find.
And quite often we're a bit blurry.
Sometimes it takes a group of men to go out and hunt for it,
to try and discover it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bits of audio are found in the wood,
little bits buried with scat on it.
Yeah. Well, we're very excited to have you guys here. We're very excited to be here, by the way.
Oh, well, thank you. We don't get to meet fellow paranormal expert podcasters.
And so this is a huge thrill. What an office.
Well, this is the first time we've actually had two guests on the podcast before simultaneously.
Yeah. But also the first time I believe we've ever had in-person guests visiting
the studio before. Yeah, normally you'd have to get a sack put over your head, shoved inside a car,
driven around for two to three days. We might have to kill you after this because you find the secret
headquarters. Thank you, because that sounds like the experience we would have loved. I'd love a sack on my head.
I noticed you did give me a special drink, so I'm wondering what that's gonna do.
Yeah, that's gonna kick in in about an hour and fifty, so we do have to push on here today.
Well, we're excited to have you guys here because usually on an episode of This Paranormal Life,
at the end, Kit and I decide whether a case is real.
But as you are our guest investigators, today you two are going to decide whether or not you think the case is real. It's a lot of pressure. I will say
Drinks kicking in already. That's good. Yeah
You know, I want to say before we get started. I was very excited today for a number of reasons
It's exciting to have a guest on the podcast. Yeah. Exciting to have anyone, let alone such prestigious paranormal investigators.
So it was fun this morning, setting up the studio, getting the scripts ready.
And then I think five minutes before you guys got here, I went to the bathroom
and walked in on a guy having a shit.
Oh, exciting.
It's that's rarer these days than that used to happen all the time.
When I was a, when I was a kid.
Usually it was me who was being walked in on.
Daniel, I couldn't tell you the last time
I saw a man having a shit.
It's been a while.
Okay, how did you feel?
I felt a little stunned,
like I'd been kind of flash banged.
And now I'm worried,
because this is gonna be quite a fun day,
we're gonna have a lot of memories.
I'm quite scared tonight when I'm lying in bed
and I close my eyes, all I'm gonna see is him.
Yeah.
You know, that's gonna override the entire day.
Yeah.
It's all kicking off in that toilet
because I came in here to Phil earlier
and I said, while I was in the toilet
and I wasn't shitting and no one walked in on me,
but a guy, did you see a guy smashed
one of the lights to pieces?
What?
Yeah, he like, I think he was like taking off his sweater
or something and smashed it to pieces.
So I came out and it was like, die hard, broken glass everywhere.
He was that angry.
I caught him taking a shit, trashed the place.
It's what I never do again.
One of my favorite memories from when I lived in Australia, I left at like 18.
And so we used to go into bars and clubs as 17 year olds and sneak in.
So I have a lot of memories of kind of like the those nights because they were so kind
of dangerous in theory.
And I remember being in a bathroom and there was a, there was a guy clearly in the cubicle
door shut and we're all at the urinals and this, this kind of slightly weird dude walked
in and he pushed the door open and he walked into the cubicle and he just, I could just
see him staring clearly at someone who was on the toilet and there was just a silence between them and then so suddenly it was the guy on the toilets,
you know, job to do something about it and I'll just never forget it. I just heard this guy go
just having a shit mate. That's what's going on. Can you get out? Yeah, please close the door.
I'll never forget that. Just that voice, the Ozzy voice.
Yeah, it's almost a British level of politeness.
It's like, I'm just going to state what I'm doing, and that's politely asking you to back off.
Just having a shit, mate.
I love those little human moments.
Yeah. Well, unless anyone else has any more stories about seeing men taking shits,
I think we'll just dive into today's investigation.
Yes, please.
Our story today begins in Walworth County, Wisconsin.
Now, Wisconsin is famous for a lot of things,
but on this day in 2002 or 2007, the date is unclear.
Dairyland would become famous for a very different reason.
For deep in the frosted wilderness lay a creature not quite beast, not quite man.
And we're going to investigate this creature right after a quick word from today's sponsors.
Alright, we are in Wisconsin. It's the early 2000s.
See how I changed things up there to be a little ambiguous?
You've been very evasive. It can't matter, can it?
Look, the details here are vague.
We don't know if we're talking about 2002, 2007.
It's murky.
The picture is murky.
So you are saying mid-2000s now?
Mid-2000s.
Or were you saying early?
I don't want to be a stickler, but 2007 would be late 2000s.
Kit usually lets a lot of this minor detail for mistakes fly.
Kind of when we host, so I wasn't expecting this kind of grilling today.
Well, we'll say it's the early 2000s.
Okay.
And a young family is strolling down the sidewalk of their neighborhood.
When we say young family, we're like...
Yeah, right.
By this gentleman's imagination, they're probably 45.
Yeah.
This young family...
Even the kids?
Alright.
The families are relevant!
It doesn't matter about the family, that's actually classified information, I can't disclose.
They want to remain anonymous because of what f***ing happened is so scary, they don't want
to be bombarded by press.
This young family spotted a yard sale taking place just down the street.
So at this point in the episode we're just going gonna do a little bit of a reenactment
of the events.
Right.
I've taken the liberty of printing off some scripts
for everyone, here we go.
So there's one for you, Riz.
Here's some acting work.
Let's see, the chick with my agent.
There you go, there's Dan's.
Dramatization is a big part of the show,
because we really find it brings the story to life
for the listener in a way that you don't often get
in the world of podcasting.
Well, this is pretty exciting
because you guys might not know this,
but I'm sort of known for my acting.
So, yeah, Reese is always learning.
Wait, because we look up to you guys
as paranormal investigators,
but y'all are saying you've been behind the camera before,
or in front of the camera? Unfortunately he has
been in front of the camera yeah I mean he's known for his acting not in a
positive way yeah yeah but we'll see how you know you might have progressed
well let's see yeah Rory what the f*** am I looking at at the start here the beast of
Bray Road written by Rory Parr's copyright 2024. This is, I just want to address the fact.
Also you left the address and phone number field blank.
Assuming you didn't think you would ever get a call back
about this script.
The exact opposite, Kit.
You leave it blank intentionally.
So if this script ever does find its way to a Spielberg,
a big time movie guy, they say this guy's mysterious.
This guy's aloof.
He's interesting.
I should give him a call.
They can't, to be clear, yeah, there's nothing on it.
Also, it's actually a one page script,
I was gonna say it was a two page script,
it's a one page script.
It's a proof of concept, you know,
I wanna show that there's something here
that could be developed into a Netflix project,
an Amazon Prime series.
I'm needling you, I'm needling you.
We're getting a little distracted here.
Let's jump in.
Phil, if you could do some dramatic kind of sound effects,
kind of set the scene, and we'll take little distracted here. Okay, let's jump in. Phil, if you could do some dramatic kind of sound effects, kind of set the scene, and
we'll take it away here.
And?
And scene.
And go.
And scene?
You don't know anything about directing.
The words, action.
Sorry, action.
Thank you, Rhys.
Thank you, Rhys.
I think this guy's been on set for a while.
This is interesting.
And action.
Hey!
What's that?
Sorry.
Cut!
Let's just do that again from the top. Yeah. And action. Hey! What's that? Sorry.
Sorry.
Cut!
Let's just do that again from the top.
Yeah.
Yeah, reset.
The first word was good though, I will say that.
It was good.
The energy was good.
Almost too good.
Yeah, that was the issue.
I'm sorry, that was unprofessional.
Let's take it from the top.
Hey!
Is that yard sale?
I think it is!
Wow, I haven't been to one of those in ages.
I think we should
Kit we're with some a-listers here. We're trying to be professional. So if you just you guys were great. Sorry, you guys were great
Thank you
I'll take that criticism because I should have read it through to realize that there was a massive typo
So it says I think we should go so there's no type of presumably what's with the type of typos
Sorry, my bad. I should have read it. All right, let's let's take that.
Let's start from the top. Let's go.
I'll just I'll just run the line. There's no problems with those guys killed it.
So we can go again. I'm still finding the characters.
All right, let's go.
Can I just have a quick break?
Okay. Yeah. So yeah.
ReSeize of Five. Everyone ReSeize of Five.
We get some seaweed thins in here.
All right. I just want to say we are very, very,
we haven't even gotten close to the thing
we're investigating today.
Okay, we should, we should, we should go.
The yard sale is so irrelevant in the full story here.
Okay, and action.
Hey, is that a yard sale?
I think it is.
Wow, I haven't been to one of those in ages.
I think we should go check it out. Cut, cut, cut!
What is your script?
Kit, I will give your line to Reece, I swear to God, if you do not nail this.
These must be the... that I have to send you to.
This is... no, no, because am I having a stroke? Someone has to look at my script and...
Yeah, you know what, actually, Kit, you're out. Reece, if you could just double your line,
that would be fantastic.
This is f***ing two different characters?
Yes.
Okay.
So, Dan from the top.
Hey! Is that a yard sale?
I think it is. Wow, I haven't been to one of those in ages. Well, I think we should
go check it out.
In the end, this young family only ended up buying one thing, and that was an old box of miscellaneous junk.
You know, the kind you find filled with old wires, a tape player, Pokemon cards.
But right at the bottom of this box was an unlabeled tape.
Now curious to see what was on it, they hooked up an old tape player and began to watch.
As the tape played, they quickly realized that what they were watching was an old home video.
The footage on the tape was ancient. It looked like it was shot with 8 millimeter film,
implying it must have been taken sometime in the 70s.
There was a shot of someone riding through the woods on a snowmobile, a shot of a man chopping woods, fixing a car.
There's a cute dog wandering around.
But then the video takes a turn. of a man chopping wood, fixing a car, there's a cute dog wandering around.
But then the video takes a turn.
The footage starts to show long empty shots of the woods, as if the cameraman is scanning
for something.
It goes back and forth from the family to the woods until the footage holds on one shot
in particular of the forest, where between the twisted trees, something can be seen staring
back.
I have that footage from the tape, and we are going to watch it right now on the podcast.
Wow.
Now, I will say this is, Roy is obviously getting out something very special today because
we rarely have any evidence, let alone video evidence on the podcast.
I'm excited.
Yeah.
We usually don't know what year it is.
And we still don't.
I don't...
Hahaha!
It's...
Alright.
Feast your eyes on this.
Yep.
Please feel free to talk over the footage.
Oh yeah, so there's the snowmobile.
Yep.
Oh wow, this looks great, the footage.
That's definitely the 70s.
Okay, so we've gone from snow now to
They ran out of topics. They kind of had to tape over one video with another. Okay. It does look like it's spliced a little
That's weird that it spliced. It's great footage
Trees there's something in the distance. Oh
Yeah, whoa anything. Okay. Oh, wow. Whoa. Whoa
That's good. And now the guy's running.
Sort of.
Just turned around.
Whoa.
Okay.
And then it ended pretty abruptly.
Quite a dramatic ending, yeah.
You mentioned you did a small amount of editing.
Did you add the soundtrack?
I did add the soundtrack.
Just a little bit of glitching, yeah, of course.
It wasn't screaming home movie.
I just wanted to say-
There was a bit of noise there was that from the I
Had the noise, okay
So I'd love to see it again. Yeah, do I have that capability possible? Let's see
Okay, we're back on we're back on the snow and now we know what to look for yes, okay
There's the same dog same dog as last time. Yeah
the same dog. Same dog as last time? When we watched it the first time. The snow's gone now. He's right. So it's a different season. Yeah. There it is. There's the big creature. Yeah. Okay.
At first I think it's a bear. Oh yeah, I see what you're saying. It's got gorilla movement.
Can we pause when we get to the... Very good question, Dan. Because you may have noticed a few little chaotic frames
right at the end there.
You break it down, these are two of the final frames.
Whoa!
Ah!
Get out of town.
That's a ferocious looking mouth with teeth
and massive canine teeth and a tongue.
And, okay, you sure?
I thought that those last frames were
just the camera being smashed to bits in general but no they're actually
something was captured I do like the fact that at one point in the video they
they show a dog just so we know what a dog looks like so that we don't later
claim that the thing at the end was a dog and it's the same dog every time so
the movement I agree it's sort of silverback movement but's also, you know that footage that turned out to be
fake footage of the skier who's got the headphones in
and doesn't realize that there's a bear chasing.
That's fake.
Yeah, it was an ad.
Oh my God.
It was an ad, but the movement of the bear running
also reminded me of that.
And so we're in a forest, it's Wisconsin.
Yeah.
I don't know if there's bears there, but it's possible.
I didn't realize that bear video was fake.
Oh, so sorry.
Yeah, I might have to cut that from the podcast,
because that kind of shines badly on what I'm doing here, you know.
You're like, if this skier could have been gone,
I mean, anything could happen in Wisconsin.
Yeah, I'm just deleting slides now,
because I was going to show you the bear video.
Let's have a look at that mouth.
You've got a great close-up there of that last frame image.
Oh, it looks like a dental procedure.
We're going straight down.
In theory, what we're being asked to sort of believe here,
if this is a true story, is that the guy is being eaten by a dog or a beast,
and either the beast has pressed stop record or he has as he's being eaten by a dog or a beast and either the beast has pressed stop record
Right or he has as he's being eaten because in theory
He should drop the camera at this point
And we have more footage unless he's eaten the camera the owner of the camera here is displaying a kind of Werner Herzog level
Commitment to the shot even in death he's he's he's lining up. Yeah, and it's what are we also the camera
We're talking here. Well, it's a bit confusing the footage looks like it was shot on 8 millimeter
But it was found on a tape like a VHS tape, I believe so
It's almost like someone recorded old footage. So the dog took it to a video shop
Yeah, right asked for it to be you know, yeah remastered put on a different tape
Well dog is I mean I'm saying dog and I'm now that's kind of putting that in our heads
We don't know this is a dog. It's a weird
Same dog as that was earlier in the test. No
Is that what you're thinking? No. No, I'm thinking this is whatever that gorilla thing was
Although I will say the beast goes out of view and then this guy's mauled to death by something
It could have been the dog. Okay, so new theory the beast
Is just having a good old peaceful look. Yeah. Oh look, there's a there's a human there
sees the rabid dog now heading towards the owner.
Rory's redacting the evidence.
I seem to have lost control of the case.
But the beast is running to save the guy.
Yes.
He's going, Jesus, that dog's going wild on you.
Right, like the man in Australia, I believe,
who punched the kangaroo to save his dog. That's
right. Don't tell me that's fake Dan. I don't know that story. I think it was two women. I didn't know
it was she punched a crocodile. Wow. I re-dack. Was there a reason or was she just angry? Well she's
just saving her friend. Saving her friend. Good reason. Crocodile attack and her friend
punched the crocodile and it went away
and they yeah they were on the news so it's like a sharky hill on the nose is
that the thing you have to be bloody good friends wouldn't you if you were in
a crocodiles jaws I think I would just let them have you that's the thing
would you punch a croc for your mate yeah yeah I would like parents sure
obviously you Dan oh thank you yeah yeah my kids are too young at
the moment for me to risk any of my own life so I think I'd have to watch you go
yeah no I understand I'm ready to go put me in the croc and don't punch
him years ago on QI we did this thing which might be common knowledge now but
I didn't know it which is the crocodile's slam of its jaws is
so strong that it's like it's got one of those like it's stronger than a billion
punches or whatever but it's its lift is incredibly weak so if you popped even a
basic rubber band around its snout it can't open so yeah I didn't know that at
all yes just for the future you might not need to punch if you're we're all
nerds you know take out your stationary set, get your rubber bands out
and just get that over its nose.
You can really tell who grew up in Australasia here.
We're like, hmm, we will never need these survival fox,
but yes, fascinating.
I've learned don't pet a fox.
That's about as much as I know here.
Also don't pet a file, which is a good one.
Whoa, all right.
Now getting back to the gorilla,
it just needed even just half a second more
for you to sort of go, oh, that's a,
but it just sort of cuts away to have movement.
So it was almost like for me,
it was very, very well put together
to make it look as though it was a horrific situation.
Well, people say with this video, a lot of classic names get thrown around.
Dog Man, Werewolf, kind of Sasquatch.
Are these any cryptids that you've looked into or investigated yourselves?
Anything like this?
Yeah, of course.
And so I mean, the reason I, you started off with, with Gorilla and
that's really what it looks like.
But there's just absolutely no way
there's gonna be a mountain gorilla there in Wisconsin.
Right. Yeah.
Unless it's, no, unless there's a zoo situation nearby
and a zoo escape or something.
Reece, let me surprise you there
because I only have one paranormal story
that's ever happened in my life.
And that's the time that I saw a gorilla man in Dublin.
Oh, yes, I did see that.
We actually have a Dublin gorilla man action figure that was sent in by a fan.
This is a completely true story.
So you're a fan made this.
I unfortunately didn't have any footage of the day, but as someone who has seen a giant monkey in a strange situation,
I can sympathize with the filmmaker.
To be clear, disclaimer, you were about seven years old at the time.
Fourteen. Fourteen.
Right. Well, twice as old. Fourteen.
Hormones are raging.
You don't really know what you're looking at.
You know, I've strongly disputed the events of that day, but
but it is some kind of testimony. It's something.
Well, what we are talking about today is often referred to as the Beast of Bray Road.
It's a creature that has stalked the streets
of Elkhorn, Wisconsin for over 100 years.
This creature is described as being around seven foot tall,
covered in thick, matted hair,
and it's been seen walking upright on two legs.
Why is it advancing like a gorilla then? Or like a dog man?
Strange, isn't it? Interesting though you keep bringing up dog man, gorilla man. Maybe I brought that one up.
Because the other...
It was you, man.
Interesting, you say gorilla man, Arisa, I've never said that.
What a Derren Brown slide of the...
Because the other popular theory is that this isn't quite a beast or a man.
This is in fact a werewolf.
I do like that one of course, having werewolf history myself.
You've played a werewolf?
Yeah, we all know that.
Oh, no, I just completely forgot.
Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. What we do in the that. Oh, I just completely forgot. Oh, yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, in What We Do in the Shadows.
Dan, this shit doesn't happen by accident.
All right.
Good to have you on the show, Dan.
But, yes, for those who don't know, Reese actually did play a werewolf in the movie
What We Do in the Shadows.
Researching this case, I realize there's quite a lot I didn't know about werewolves.
Their origins can stretch back all the way to ancient Greek mythology and
you know, those origins cover way more than just the typical
transforming at a full moon. In fact,
obsessions with werewolves or
lycanthorpes, as they were sometimes called, were so prominent in the 15th, 16th,
you know way too much about this. Oh, really?
That's not an indoor movie.
We never had a cryptid interrupting Rory
in the middle of the day.
We had a cryptid.
It's like, here's the evidence today, Rhys.
Just everyone look at him for 15 minutes
and we'll say whether it's real.
Haven't you the report?
Well, I'm sorry Rhys,
this might actually be a sensitive topic for you.
But there were actually, similar to witch trials, there were werewolf trials,
where villagers would try and locate werewolves in villages and subsequently kill them.
Yeah. Do you know what? I met recently a someone who... So there was, back in the day,
there was a book written on werewolves, which was written by a guy called Sabine Baring-Gould,
I think was the name.
That's a werewolf.
That is 100% a werewolf.
He basically, he wrote the book,
which is basically the mythology,
all the materials combined about werewolves.
And so everything that we know about like the seventh
daughter of a seventh, you know, that all that stuff is if you have seven daughters, one's bound
to be a werewolf, that kind of stuff, all comes down to Sabine having put this big book
of werewolves together. There's a great story that apparently one of the reasons that people
believed in werewolves is because they think and Sabine puts this in the book saying, I
might've got his name completely wrong
But um, he says that what a part of a pregnancy kind of you know, a lot of women say that they'll have
Cravings, you know, it'll be like go out and get me a bag of coal or whatever
There were a few instances that have been recorded where like a woman who was pregnant was passing a baker and was like
I just want to I just want to bite him in the arm
and eat his blood and and there's a story of a husband paying a baker to a lax I'm so sorry my
wife needs to do this and she goes over and she bites his shoulder and then someone sees that and
so pregnancy bloodlust was part of a theory that that's why I interject I just saw a couple
yesterday yeah exactly what you were saying so I was walking past on my way to the hotel and this couple just came
out of a cafe or a coffee shop or was it sure but it was a guy came out first
and this lady kind of the same things really yeah let's say it was a bakery oh
no this is fun let's needle his story which one like this. Which one was it, Reese? Was it a bakery? I hate you. Ah!
Ah!
Wait, wait, hold it back, hold it back.
So the guy came out, did he?
Yeah.
And then the lady came out,
let's say a girlfriend, partner, whatever.
She came on out and I caught sight of it
with my perifts on the right-hand side.
And she came out and she grabbed her partner in a kind of a fun boyfriend, girlfriend way,
but then bit him on the shoulder.
Like, quite like, the mouth really opened quite a lot and went, ah, like that.
And he went, oh!
So it was one of those moments where you go, oh, what's going on there?
Was that just a fun lover's bite?
Yeah, yeah.
I should have gone, I think your girlfriend's pregnant, mate.
So it's just weird that that occurrence happened and then you straight away have that little story.
Yeah, that is weird.
So, synchronicity.
Have you never had, speaking about Restory, have have you never had like a lover's bite before?
A little just a nibble?
Yeah.
I feel like I've done that before.
I have.
Maybe not as ferocious as this one seems.
I had a really weird one.
This is back when I was single, so I'm married now.
So this was like when I was in my mid twenties, I think.
And I was out with a bunch of people
and we went to a club in East London somewhere around here.
And I was very drunk. It was very late. I was on a dance floor. Yeah
Reese was DJing. Should I hand out some more scripts? Do we want to take a swing at this one too?
And there was a girl on the dance floor and we started dancing with each other. Hey Dan, how's it going?
Okay, here we go. And yeah, good, Roret.
Yeah, I'm... Uh, yeah.
We're just gonna take a break now.
We'll be back in five minutes.
Talk amongst yourselves, I've just run out of records.
David?
David, have you got any more records?
Can I advise we don't give Ketany Lanes,
because we know he's gonna butcher him?
I think I would like some limes, please.
I've got a request. Nah, we're just having a break at the moment.
Yeah, so I'm standing there and she, we like, we're dancing close and then we started kissing.
I'm never on a dance floor. So I was like, this is wild. This is amazing.
And then suddenly she started biting my lip and I was like, ow!
And then went back in for a kiss and then she did again. I was like, ow, what are you doing?
And then she bit so hard that when she pulled back on the next go,
her face was covered in blood and it was my blood.
And I was like, oh my God.
And she went back in and it was, and I was like, oh my God.
And she just kept eating my face.
Yeah. She was just eating it.
And I was like, what are you, I'm so sorry, but we're...
Did you go to the club from blade
where is this nightclub full of vampires around here somewhere I can't remember
else it was weird yeah she didn't care she didn't care I was like your face is
covered in blood and she was just went back in and just like you know there are
drugs that you know people say will make you start to chew your own face but rarely someone else's face that is really but that makes me think yeah there's
definitely something demonish going on there yeah well i suppose your story didn't happen in the
exact same locale but there is a possibility this if this is a real vampire this might have been
you know you're seeing someone bite someone in the street you were bitten in the face only years ago
i don't know there's a community of vampires around, but.
Well, I wish.
Imagine if that was the same lady.
Yeah, could be.
She hasn't aged a day.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah, Reeves was walking by and was like, you know, strange, but that woman is so
dance type.
And I don't know what's making me think that, but I just think at a club he would
gravitate towards her.
You know?
It would really vibe.
Yeah.
Lots of great evidence here. Wish we were talking about vampires now, but unfortunately...
Werewolves.
I know what you're thinking guys, based on the video that we saw,
you wouldn't jump straight to Werewolf from seeing that.
It's more Gorilla Man, it's more sort of Dog Man.
Yeah, on the close-ups of the final jaw image. You're thinking dog for sure dog
Mm-hmm. So why would people think that the beast of Bray Road is a werewolf?
Well, the explanation lies way back in
1936 when this creature was first spotted
Security guard Mark Shackleman was working the night shift
Patrolling the grounds of the st. Coletta School for Exceptional Children.
Oh, you went there, Dan?
You were one of Xavier's pupils, weren't you? Yeah.
You had the stretchy mouth. People could just kind of bite it and tear it and it always kind
of flopped back into place. He was known as Kissy Bloody.
Well, Mark was patrolling the grounds and usually on the night shift there really
wasn't a lot to worry about. Worst case you'd see some kids trying to sneak in
and he'd have to scare them off. But this night would be different. Mark Shackleman
was crossing the school field when he noticed a large shadow in the moonlight.
It looked like a huge dog on all fours, scratching at the ground.
But it was enormous, far too large to be a dog.
Whatever this thing was, it noticed him too.
Then without warning, Mark watched in awe as the creature stood up on two legs.
Mark said that it had a dog-like face, but beneath its thick fur, the muscular body of a man.
How can you see through the thick fur for the muscular body? Those muscles must have been
popping. I guess the hair levels would, if you were nicely even. Right. Yeah, this wolf has been
manscaping, yeah. Yeah, you would see the shape of the pecs and you would see the, yeah.
The classic Derby V.
As it's known as.
And believe it or not, this wasn't the only time he would see this creature. He saw it again the next day and allegedly got so close that he heard it growl at him in a half-human, half-beast roar.
Sorry, this is incredibly rare that we would see something like this and we kind of glossed over that he heard it growl at him in a half human, half beast roar.
Sorry, this is incredibly rare that we would see something like this. And we kind of glossed over that.
That was the end of the interaction.
But then he came back the next day.
He went home at dinner, went to bed, came back and it was still there.
Yeah.
Hadn't moved an inch.
It may have returned.
He was driving to that school that day going, I really hope it isn't still, it's still there.
He's just reversing to the carpet.
Oh, Jesus Christ.
He's like, Mark, Mark, yeah.
There's nothing worse than something that is still there.
Yeah.
Right.
You usually don't want to have to have a once in a lifetime experience back to back.
Yeah.
Maybe down the line, sure that's fine, but the next evening.
And now he's talking as well, you're like, oh Christ.
Or he's gone home as well.
Had a shower, had a sleep, gone,
oh, go and see if that thing shows up again.
What the hell was that?
So they're both, it's like a meet-cute, but they're refusing to meet.
He could have gone back to his wolf pack and his wolf wife,
and he's like,
you never guess what I f***ed all at the school
for exceptional children.
I mean, I've seen some exceptional children in my life.
This guy was, he was, I mean,
through the roof, literally.
Shackle man, I wonder what his power is.
These are the reasons why people over the years
have leapt to werewolf, it having the
muscular body of a man, the fact that it feels like it's trying to speak English, and even
though this was the first sighting of the beast, throughout the 80s and the 90s, the
creature was spotted dozens of times by the locals of Elkhorn.
One woman reported the beast attempting to break into her home, leaving behind 12 inch footprints.
Another young girl reported the beast chasing her through the forest.
In 1999, an 18 year old girl was driving down Bray Road when she heard a thump under her car.
When she pulled over to see what she hit, on the side of the road was a huge wolf creature standing on two legs.
On the side of the road was a huge wolf creature standing on two legs. When she tried to peel away in her car, the beast leapt onto the trunk,
but slid off because of the rainwater and she sped home.
Unfortunately, I think we have that.
There's a lot of interesting anecdotes there.
Unfortunately, that last one, sometimes we see this a lot where people hit other people with their cars cars And then there's kind of an incentive to make it a paranormal situation, right?
Yeah, that you know that person who those blood prints kind of all over the bonnet. Yeah, that wasn't a human
Yeah with legal rights that was an undiscovered crypto
I just when the police come the next day and they say we're looking for someone who had a hit-and-run last night
Yeah, I wouldn't know anything about that. I noticed a dent in your car. Yes. Yeah. No, that was a wolf man
Fair enough. Sorry for bothering you. You guys should get on that shit. You should be on the hunt
Just quietly and let me go. I've got to go to work. I
Remember the time I hit 12 little bumps as I was speeding right past the school
for exceptional children.
And obviously I must have encountered
some sort of paranormal beast
that kind of got up in the car's motors.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it kind of, I think it was sort of like a,
it did like mimicry, so it was like
simulating the cries of the young
to kind of maybe sympathize for the creature.
Right, that's what I did. But you can't even look back unless you're reversing to make sure you got it,
which is what I did. Yeah, they do say that crypt is, hang on, your school crossings.
What is this school, by the way? I don't know. It's really never mentioned. I mean,
this case is taking place, what did I say? 1936? 1936. Oh wow, yeah, Jesus.
Depending on how exceptional these children are,
I think they're mostly dead.
Because I read a Stephen King book recently
called The Institute, which was kind of that.
It was a school of gifted children
who had abilities of psychic abilities and so on.
Don't know, that's a weird curve ball.
I've never heard of a school like that.
They still exist.
I have a school down the road from where I live which is for kids who are 2e
twice exceptional so it's a thing. Really? Yeah so a lot of kids one of
buttons kids is exceptional twice exceptional so really it's really you're
amazing at two things I think. Minimum. Cups and juggling. Come on in.
It's got to be more than one, I think. Otherwise, we're all good at one thing.
I would love to know how high this goes. Is there a 3-E school? Four E's?
Yeah, we wouldn't know anything about this. We went to a convent.
We went to a 1-U, which is unremarkable for just kind of regular children with no
visible talents.
No E.
Oh, no E school.
No E.
Yeah.
Because they'll let anyone in, no exception.
Yeah.
That's it.
Yeah.
I also don't want to railroad this to something else, but you did mention the kind of muscular
figure of this beast and, you know, it probably should be said it is, I think as a paranormal investigator, an unfortunate side effect of kind of the werewolf phenomena and popularisation,
let's face it, Twilight and so on. That people are pretty horny for werewolves these days.
Do you see the emails I get?
Woo!
The DMs.
Oh my god.
Please have you got a...
Show us the Derby V!
I mean, come on. Woo! The DMs. Oh my god. The DMs. Reece, have you got a... Show us the Derby V.
I mean, come on.
I know whenever I've been researching werewolves before,
you get about three images done,
it starts descending into furry deviant art type imagery.
Yeah, Reece, I assume you have an only fangs,
which is you kind of just posing in lingerie
with the chest hair out.
Wow, look into that.
Yeah, you're waiting for us to be brought up all day.
We're going to hear about even more sightings of this creature,
right after a quick word from today's sponsors.
Wendy's Small Frosty is the ultimate summer refreshment.
And not because it's cool and creamy and made with fresh Canadian dairy.
It's also refreshingly
cheap.
Just 99 cents until July 14th.
It's a treat for you and your wallet.
There were so many sightings that eventually, newspaper journalist Linda Godfrey was sent
to investigate the case and talk to some of the witnesses.
Now, Linda was a hardcore skeptic.
She didn't really believe in any of this paranormal nonsense.
But to give you an idea of how quickly her views changed,
in 2003, she wrote an entire book about the creature.
I guess-
An entire book, not even just a quarter of one.
Not even a pamphlet.
You know what, I'm gonna finish it.
I hanged out.
That's how determined I am.
My last 13 books I never quite got through.
But blow it, I'm going to finish this one.
What was it called?
I finished the prologue, but I just think there's not that much in it actually.
I think that's it.
I'll leave it there, thanks.
I was going to start with the blurb, but I'm really feeling this.
I think the book was called just the Beast of Bray Road.
Okay.
But I assume people didn't really believe
what she was saying in that book,
because only a few years later,
she released a second book titled, I Know What I Saw.
Lot of criticism, lot of blowback to the first book.
Kind of a response to, yeah.
No wonder she doesn't finish them.
If you can hear that.
And then the next book was,
look, you should be just happy I'm completing my books.
That's the trilogy, yeah.
And then inevitably an ebook called Listen Up.
Now let's face it guys,
we've all been in the cryptid hunting game for a while.
It's easy to talk about legends, tell old stories,
but at the end of the day,
what we really need is hardcore evidence.
And seeing as the video that I showed you at the start
is essentially confirmed to be a hoax,
what we really need,
yeah, we're just gonna breeze over that real quick.
Okay, all right.
Unfortunately, I found out as late
as you guys are finding out right now.
I wrote this entire script and I was like,
oh, I need a source for the video.
It's a hoax.
All right, it's fantastic.
Well, I think that I didn't want to say it earlier,
but I do sometimes get a bit more skeptical
when a video like that with an ending like that comes up.
So when we talk about the Dublin guerrilla man,
like one great thing is that you don't have any video of it.
And that can live in our heads a bit more, right?
It's more real
But the story kind of slightly got a bit weird for me when I saw the video because I just saw okay
Well, that's that's a hoax, isn't it?
Yes, I'm glad you're acknowledging it's a hoax because now I can knock that out
I can also point out that I did sort of draw to people's attention that I thought it was a hoax earlier on
Oh, did you?
Yeah, if we rewind the tapes
Can we do that?
See look at this you can tell here that why would you stop it like that so suddenly?
And I didn't say anything, but I was thinking a lot of the same thoughts, but I think we were all trying to preserve Rory's dignity in that moment.
Can we actually rewind again to the improv club scene?
Because I was just really enjoying that and I'd love to hear it again.
Hey!
Yeah, I do like kissing actually. We-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch- back to that to that dance scene and the fact only fangs and stuff I'd remember in my single days I also it was an early day of internet dating and tinder and stuff like that and I signed up to a paranormal dating app yeah so you'd go
on and the whole idea was it was you would be matching with people who have
very specific interests to what you have so yeah I went on that but it was it was
just me and five other dudes so we're're all just hanging, just looking at each other's profiles,
go, any ladies are gonna turn up?
What we dudes in the shadows.
Please tell me, did you go on any dates from that?
I slept with them all, yeah.
Yeah, I was gonna say, there's only really one outcome,
just get out the ball of keys, right?
There's, what are we gonna do, go home?
I mean, come on.
Well, you know, I did wanna bring up the fact that it is a hoax because you know on this podcast
We do love to tell these stories
We love to have fun
But we are also trying to decide whether or not something's real we have to play the role of the believer and the skeptic
And this footage actually I think it was kind of mysterious and unconfirmed for a quite a few number of years
Which is why it's cemented so much in the legend
of this creature. But I believe it was almost quite recently that the person who made it came out and
told the whole story about how they faked it. So it is quite linked with the legend.
Yeah it did, it had a very good run. I know I've disappointed you a little bit with the first piece
of evidence, but don't worry, I have exactly what you need to push this case over
into a double yes today.
Because on January 27th, 2018, Danny Morgan of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, sent an email
to the paranormal website Wisconsin Frights to report something that he witnessed driving
home late at night. The email said,
Hey, I took this photo Saturday night in Elkhorn, north of Lake Geneva after hitting a couple of
bars with my buddy. Probably shouldn't have put that bit in. I told my brother that I saw a wolf
run across the road on its hind legs. I figured the full moon just causes animals
to act weird or scared,
but he said there are werewolves in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Wow.
I have that photo right here,
and I'm gonna hand it out to you
so you can look at this evidence up close, examine it,
and decide whether or not you think this is believable.
I think it's good he mentioned the bar thing
because what you don't want is a story of me saying,
oh, I've done this thing and I saw a wolf come out.
And then later on someone's like,
so what were we doing before?
I was in the bar, you know, it just discreet.
He's putting it out up front.
Getting ahead of it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like that.
He's like, I've been drunk thousands of times
and this has not happened.
So get that out of your heads.
Okay, take a look at this.
Pass him along.
Okay.
Oh, wow.
It's like sort of skeleton-y in the arms there.
This is...
That's quite intriguing.
Really something.
It's interesting, isn't it?
The thing is, is that, you know,
a werewolf is gonna look like a standing dog to some
degree.
Let's just call it what it is.
Dan's doing it a disservice here.
I think maybe I should do an introduction to the image for our audio listeners.
It's so bad.
What we're seeing here is a beast of ancient times traversing the land in the dark of night.
A wolf-like cryptid standing on two legs walking across the road.
Yes, he does for some reason have tiny little T-Rex arms.
And skeleton, there's no skin on them.
I don't know why he has skeleton arms.
His right paw is his skeleton arm.
You can see through the bones.
Maybe that's like, God knows, maybe that's the moonlight casting through, you know.
Well, also, this is mid-transformation, one could say.
Right.
Oh, interesting.
The four legs, the front legs, have not fully developed into their muscular wolf form yet.
Okay.
Right. So I'm just from my own, you know, werewolf history. I know, you know, what transforms first
and where it goes from there.
On this particular
beast, the head is fully there, shoulders classic.
Tongue out. The Derby V. We're not quite the Derby V though yet, but yeah. I think you're getting the Derby V, but you...
Yeah the last thing to go.
Now also what's worth noting is he's a happy boy with his tail.
It's mid-wag.
He's not not smiling either.
You know it's kind of, this is a dog that's seen a treat.
I think this dog was at a couple bars as well tonight.
By the way he's kind of waddling.
There's definitely a tummy on him that said some beers have been consumed.
It's really got the energy of like he's running a 5k or something.
That does, you just need a number on the front of him and you're like come on buddy.
Yeah, right yeah.
But he's clearly doing the robot.
I think it could be me.
Is that you? I'll be honest this wasn't exactly how this evidence is panning out. I was hoping it was
going to be a little bit more convincing. I thought you guys were going to just be,
well, there we have it.
Standing ovation.
Essentially.
You know what I will give the witness credit for here is this is, there's a lot of detail
and it's very close to the camera. He got really nice and close to the thing.
Yeah, he did and I think he said that this was taken from his car. So I don't know if this is maybe a dashcam
Screenshot. Where's he driving if this is a dashcam?
Off a cleft by the looks of it.
How many beers did he have?
That's not dashcam.
He's off-roading for sure.
Alright, so what's he saying? He's saying this is the beast itself? He was driving on Bray Road in the exact place
that this creature has been spotted
for over hundreds of years.
This is believed to be one of the most convincing
photographic pieces of evidence in the Beast of Bray Road.
There must be more though,
because there's no way you would kind of try
to round out an episode with this
being your leading piece of evidence.
I would have thought there'd be a silver bullet in there somewhere.
This is the bullet.
Okay.
This is the bullet.
Just to be completely clear.
Yes.
I assume everyone has made their conclusions at this point.
Yes.
It's real.
Yeah.
So we've heard a little bit about the origins of this creature and of werewolves in general.
We've seen some photos, heard some testimonies.
As I said, you two are our esteemed guests on today's episode.
So we will throw it to you first.
What are you thinking about today's case?
Do you think we have enough evidence?
Do you enjoy the stories?
Is it similar to creatures that you've investigated before?
I mean, Riz, you probably know this guy, right?
I've got to say, if it's not me, it's disappointing.
Because he's clearly doing the robot.
But if you look at the different parts of this beast,
the head, have a good look at the head, yep, that's a head.
Then do the torso,
and then concentrate on the arms as separate pieces.
And then finally do the hind legs area with the tail.
It looks like a spliced together three or four,
including three CPO,
four different characters put together.
Right.
There's no way that's, and the face, yeah,
it's a no from me.
All right, okay. Dan, don't let that influence you, you know, you still-
I didn't listen for that very reason.
Fantastic.
Oh hey!
She's back for a ride too.
Hey Dan!
Um, yeah, I-
The thing I love is I haven't heard of the
Beast of Bray Road, and I always love
when something can exist for as long as
a hundred years and multiple books have been written and multiple investigations are going
on. I think every town needs a monster to believe in. I think it's really good for kids
to even if it's not true to have in their heads when they're camping and tell these
amazing stories because I think it keeps mystery alive. So I think the evidence is a bit of
a letdown obviously because one's a dog and the other one we know is fake
Yeah
But the idea of it is something I'd never want to poo poo
And so I'm a agnostic middle on this one. I
I think much like neither beast nor man. I think it's neither real nor fake
Okay, well then I think the only reasonable thing that we can do is throw one additional vote to Kit, our resident investigator.
It's a no. To be absolutely clear, yeah. I realised he was throwing you a lifeline there, but I really had to chop it off and let you draw.
Kudos for Dan for keeping the dream alive though. I mean I love that. In almost 370 episodes of This Power of My Life, I don't think we've ever had a maybe,
a kind of middle of the road. So that is absolutely new territory.
But I appreciate where you're coming from, Dan. I think even me investigating this case,
I've covered a lot of cryptids before. And you know, there's a lot of cliches, I think,
you see in this story. People seeing it in the side of the road, the wolf on its back legs
with the glowing eyes. But there's quite a few, maybe because it's in, based in quite
a small town, it's more part of their heritage and their folklore. The stories are more interesting.
If you go on YouTube, you can see news reports from as old back as like the 1980s of TV,
you know, broadcasters going
and interviewing locals.
And it really is a big thing there that they believe in.
So I am also, yes, of course, giving it a no this week,
but I like it.
I like it a lot.
Unfortunately, yes, this photo does look like something
that Sid from Toy Story would create in his bedroom.
Unfortunately, kind of just a mishmash of demonic creatures and robots.
I would love to go there and I would love to do further investigations.
I would like to see more evidence.
You know, we've been a little light this episode.
One video that was clearly fake, but fun and a sort of photocopied thing there that, yeah it doesn't get you, it's once again fun, funny,
but yeah, I don't want to belittle the town and I love towns that have beasts like you're saying,
Dan, but just based on that and really just the letdown was those robotic arms.
The arms, we really can't stress how strange the arms are.
You also gotta see this. It's very hard to get across. He for some reason has
undeveloped skeleton arms on a dog's body. But the dog's body is just a map. The mid-transformation idea from me though was...
I really like that. Yeah, a really nice curve ball. Well I like the idea that mid-transformation
goes all the way to skeleton and then into the next thing. Well it has to because the skeleton has to change its form.
Yes, exactly.
So can we be looking at some sort of, you know, is this maybe a hybrid where a leprechaun was bitten by a werewolf?
Brother, we all said no.
You've got to stop digging.
I'm on the fence.
You really took the maybe and thought you could bump him up, but no, it's not happening. I think the real question is who was this person who bit my face, enjoyed it, and then
who was this lady that you saw biting a man and is it the same person?
I think for me that's all I'm thinking about now.
And the fact that they are at large, this is not early to mid 2000s, that is yesterday.
That's yesterday.
That's quite terrifying.
Yeah, we may actually have to do a bit of on location investigating as soon as we wrap
here.
We've got some hunting tools here.
We've got some dowsing rods and EMF reader.
Maybe just grab a couple crucifixes.
Crucify?
Don't know what the plural is.
I think the, you know, if we're thinking about laying bait for this person, I think we get
a large cardboard cutout of Dan.
We got the real thing here.
I think we just Jurassic Park style.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just put you in kind of a platter
and we watch from a van with goggles.
Well, you know what I'm doing, don't you?
From the distance. Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, t One of those one pound for a kiss kissing boots and I'll just sit there and we'll wait. I'll make sure I've got more records.
Yeah, so...
One pound for a kiss!
Just five dudes in the line. Oh no, it's the dudes from the paranormal dating site.
Oh god, hi guys!
We're going in, we're going in!
Can't believe we got ghosted, even though it's thematically on point, it just is...
disappointing.
Rhys, Dan, thank you so much for joining us for this week's investigation.
Thank you for having us.
This was such a joy. Yes, if you haven't already, do listen to The Cryptid Factor.
Thank you.
Do you want to tell us a little bit about what people can expect if they tune in?
Similar stuff. Our first segment every week is Weekly world weird news.
So we take in news stories that are bizarre
from around the world and we sort of do,
we do a headline off and then we get into those stories
and then we get into cryptid stuff
in the second half of the show.
And so it encompasses the entire world of the bizarre,
just we try to stay away from ghosts.
That's just a good rule in general. Try to stay away from ghosts. In our spare time, we try to stay away from ghosts. That's just a good rule in general.
In our spare time, we try to stay away from it.
We get interesting people on.
Yeah.
We have interviews with scientists.
It's science-based, you know, we believe in science, so, but we really have fun
with the mystery of the world.
Right.
And you know, the show is so kind of loose and fun and wacky.
You would actually kind of on first listen, you know, if someone's tuning in for the first time,
they might assume that this is really flippant about the paranormal, but it's actually not.
And whenever you guys bring stories to the table, you get quite into it and have, you know,
up to date new sightings of cryptids and things.
The level of quality and evidence
is arguably parallel to what we've seen today.
Right.
You know, sort of.
Sure, sure.
Sort of.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm trying to remain very quiet about
how this is the most evidence we've had in weeks.
Let's try to keep up.
I love it.
But we had a great thing recently
because we've got to a place now
where we've made so many friends
who are out there in the world doing this,
like actually looking in the front lines.
And we were able to help put a bit of evidence out into the world via a guy
called Steve Feltham and a lady called Chee Kelly, who took a photo of something
that was mysteriously coming out of Loch Ness.
And Steve, who's a Loch Ness monster hunter said, I think in the, you know,
30 odd years I've been here, this is the best evidence I've seen
of a surface level sighting.
And he knocks, he's so pragmatic about it.
He's not someone who will just believe anything.
He really says no, no, no to a lot of stuff.
And he basically said, I think this is it.
And it was released into the papers as just three images
because she just kept the three best images.
And then while we were talking to Steve,
he got word from her that her husband,
Scott had actually discovered
that all the photos of 70 photos,
because it was one of those sports cameras.
So when you click five photos in a row,
he found all the old photos.
And so we were able to take the photos and with buttons,
the third of our members of Cryptid Factor he's a real genius of filming he's a
documentary maker he put a timeline together of it in motion and so we were
able to put that out into the wild and and help out the story so we're in a
place now where people are approaching us much like you guys getting you know
all your fans and stuff sending stuff in, where we can help them amplify
their stories and get it out a bit more.
Yeah, it's quite fun.
The longer that you do this, you start to become
a part of the evidence.
It's quite interesting.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, we started off just completely ripping it to shit.
And then at some point, you are just the last person
standing, you care the most about it, out of anybody.
Yeah, you either, what do they say,
you either are the investigator or you live long enough to be the witness. Yeah. Yeah.
Paranormal case. Until you eventually get investigated yourself. Now do you two have
any particular paranormal cases that you would consider to be your favorite or most convincing?
Because we're always looking for tips here. If there's something you think maybe that we should be looking into.
Well, there's the Chupacabra that was found in Churro, Texas.
And there's a lady there, a taxidermist.
She's a, she's not a taxidermist, but she's actually a big game hunter.
And she came across this creature on her property.
They managed to capture it and it was dead,
but it had killed, sucked the blood of all her chickens.
Wow.
And as well as some other neighbors,
her taxidermy friend taxidermied it.
So we went and visited it.
It was before Dan joined the team, but
This was an amazing creature. I would look into that one because it puts
Credibility to the Chupacabra case right? Yeah, because I think we've covered the Chupacabra a long time ago
I don't think we we got to the taxidermy
I don't think we saw that I think I'm episode of my vendor differently had we to the taxidermy. I don't think we saw, I think that episode of my event had differently
had we seen a taxidermy version.
So we need to see that.
For sure.
It's a real thing to you.
It's a tangible thing that you could look into
and she'll speak to you about it.
There's been many docos and stuff
and things with regards to it.
And the arms of this chupacabra,
were they small and skeletal or are they?
You know what?
They actually were.
Yes!
A little bit, something in that.
Okay.
There's something in that.
Definitely big hind legs.
And it had the body had a sort of a hide,
like an elephant hide.
Yeah, the skin was really weird
and it had big nubjules on its bum
where some believe the wings used to be.
So yeah,
it's kind of like, it's a hybrid. Um, when they did a DNA test, um,
between a coyote and a, um, like I think a Mexican blue wolf or something.
It's got these solid demon blue eyes that are very, very, uh,
very pale blue. It's quite freaky.
Wow.
We might have to reopen our case then. That sounds like a big development.
It really sounds like it.
Yeah. What about you, Dan? Do you have any that stand out?
Yeah, there's two that, for me. So one, I like it. And this is the world that we get to enjoy
as a result of what we do. Random people will hear us talking. They might go home to dinner and go,
oh, I'm doing this thing. And then someone will tell them a story and they report it back to us.
I was recording the audio book of a book I wrote,
which is all about weirdness and theories and stuff
a few years ago.
And I was doing the audio book for it.
And my sound engineer, he went for dinner at the pub
with his two mates and he was like,
oh, Dan's doing this whole thing about,
he has this thing about impossible things
that have happened to you that no one believes,
but it definitely happened. And it sits outside of your belief
system, but it definitely happened. And his two buddies at the, at the pub table went,
Oh my God, we have one of those. And we, we had it together. We both saw it. And he was
like, so what is it? And he said, we were driving down a country road in England. It
was late at night. We had our headlights on full beam and then right in front of us across the road I swear to
god a potato on legs just ran across the road and he was like oh yeah yeah nice one and the other
friend went honest to god I saw it too it was a potato it had legs and it was running across the
road so that's one I'd like to look into more I gotta find out the location of where that was
I'm gonna find out oh there's a lot to there's a lot of stuff I need to get.
The other one is...
You're gonna have to CC us on those emails.
Yeah, I will do.
I think our Irish heritage as well can maybe play a vital part in the investigation.
I feel it's important that I said it to you out loud, because I think you're the boys for that story, really.
So I'll come back to you when I find out more.
Because we need to find out, does it have tiny arms?
That's the key.
By two little toothpicks or something like that for arms. Yeah. It actually makes sense it was seen in England, because we would to find out, does it have tiny arms? That's the key, by two little toothpicks or something like that for arms.
Yeah.
It actually makes sense it was seen in England
because we would have eaten it in history
if we'd just seen it in Ireland.
That would be dinner.
Yeah.
No wonder it was on the run.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The other one is, well, I was saying earlier about,
I love that this town in Wisconsin has the werewolf
as part of its thing.
And growing up up I never
had a local monster and so that always that always was a sadness for me and it was only
two years ago as I was writing this book that I found myself looking into the local area
that I lived in because there was a famous story about how a road that I used to take
every single day was haunted and that people would see a ghost appear in the back window
of a car so you'd look through your rear view mirror and there was the same ghost and people always talk about it. So I was looking
into that and then discovered that on that very same road there's a lake it's called Narrabin Lagoon
a lady called Mabel Walsh back in the 1930s I think it was reported an elephant like human
coming out and crossing the road and going into the lagoon.
And then it's only ever been seen once since.
So I did have a local cryptid, which I've now called Nari,
because it doesn't really have a name, because Narebin and tribute to Nasi.
Yeah.
And so my brother, he lives in an apartment that has a view over Nari.
So he's now the official Steve Feltham of the local area.
He's got a pair of binoculars
He makes sure to look very cool. And I think amplifying local monsters is really important for kids
So that's my other favorite one just because I had a monster all along and I didn't know it and I want people to know
About it. Yeah, I'm gonna be championing Nari from here on in. I like that giving you a name
Yeah, give me a bit of a setting up an IP making some stickers get some merch going. Yeah exactly bring those big bucks in baby
Research for a book. Yeah, do you think you'll finish it? No, no
