But we are very thankful for them in Tampa, Florida at 2201 North Florida Avenue. Today's guest is a 16 time world champion. There's nobody like him. I'll tell you that he's one of a kind. He has had quite a life. I mean, the guy has been he's almost he survived the plane crash, a lightning strike. He's been through it all. We're grateful for his time today. He's one of the greatest
Starting point is 00:02:16 entertainers of our time. Today's guest is the nature, Rick Flair. Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! I'll spin and tell you about your dreams.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh! And I will find a song of the same age. I'll go found a strong I'll be singing I'll go Yeah, I just saw I moved over to Nashville
Starting point is 00:02:54 years ago Is that real enough? Yeah Oh cool, yeah That's a great place Save that tax money, too Yeah I don't get any
Starting point is 00:03:01 And you can conceal, carry a weapon of it air Oh, you can?, carry a weapon of it air. Oh, you can? Oh, yeah. I believe that will work. We're really, really can't you carry a weapon? I mean, yeah, somebody, I even, it's not legal,
Starting point is 00:03:13 something that's carrying a weapon. Oh, I just wanted it. Well, heck, in half your career, somebody always, that's a, that was the funny thing about wrestling. Somebody always showed up with a weapon. You know, it was like, Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:03:24 You have no idea. You wouldn't believe some of the stories I could tell you about guns. Yeah, man, I'm trying to think when I saw my first gun. Did you all have guns in the house growing up? Yeah, for my dad was an avid hunter. He was. Yeah. A group of Minnesota sweet feson duck, stuff like that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You got not big
Starting point is 00:03:47 game, but shotguns. Yeah. And then I, I collected guns for years. I had a guy that was a policeman in Asheville, North Carolina, I will mention his name in the 70s that, you know, all these, you know, these these the guns that they recover and raise and all that shit right and he would love you to walk in the room and pick up what I want to pay. Why would you just pay ridiculously low amount of money like as an example they used to have the state troubages to carry that nickel plate at the 357. I mean, yeah, unbelievable. They can't find those guns anymore.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Yeah. Yeah, the only gun I don't have, I would try it. And I, I should have got it, but I guess I was gonna buy a replica of the lone survivor. The lone Ranger? No, the lone survivor. The rifle. Oh, I haven't even seen it, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Oh, yeah, the one that, the rally cool Oh, I haven't even seen it, I don't think. Oh yeah, the one that Bradley Cooper, Carrie remember? Uh-oh. Oh yeah, who's a wall, who played loan survivor? Wallbreaker Cooper. No wallbreak. My wallbreak. Where was the sniper?
Starting point is 00:04:55 Oh, I gotta check that out. That rifle's beautiful. Yeah, they have right here in Tampa. I shot recently, I shot, I was in Nashville, I was at Kid Rocks house. Have you ever met Kid Rock? No, Kid and I'm real well. Yeah, yeah, dude. Yeah, I shot, I was in Nashville, I was at Kid Rocks House. Have you ever met Kid Rock? No, Kid and I'm real well. Yeah, dude.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Yeah, I didn't join. They went all five of the bars now. Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to get the kid to carry the drink. He won't carry for you? I haven't asked him yet. Oh, yeah. But I'm going to, yeah, I know him real well. Yeah, his place is too much, huh?
Starting point is 00:05:19 Oh, man. His place is unreal that he's got to, like, he built like a new, it's almost like the capital of the South in a way or new, it's almost like the capital of the south in a way or something. So the way house. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You roll up there, you like, this is unreal. In a big arena, I thought I was a bit like a warehouse. Yeah. He's got to get down production studio in there. All his collective cars and I mean, two bars, a church. Yeah. 600 acres of prime land.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Oh, yeah, he said he can get married in divorce right there legally on his problem. I said, I think the bar probably helps you get divorced. Yeah, I think that'll lead to. Yeah, he's not touring right now. I told him, he said, I'm going to let the young kids are helping inspire them and help them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Rick, thanks for hanging out, man. Thank you for having me. Man, I spent so much of my childhood watching you, man. And thank you. Thank you. You know, it was, uh, some people watched WWF, right? Yeah. And that was fine.
Starting point is 00:06:18 That was easy. Yeah. But when I was a kid, if you stayed up and if you watched in WA, right, that's who knew about, like those, that's when you could tell if people were rich or not. Yeah. That's what I felt like. Like poor kids always knew about all the NWA guys.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Yeah, we're here from. I'm from Covington, Louisiana. Okay. So just like a small town outside of New Orleans. Mid-South. Yeah. And man. Mid-South, Brooklyn.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Dude, Terry Fonk just, Bill Watt. Bill Watt. Yeah. Just God. There was so much awesome wrestling back then. Yeah. J.Y.D. Oh, dude. What was he like in person? Good guy. Yeah. Yeah. Godway tourley. Without the Rock and Roll Express for their magnetic express. Bill Watt. Yeah. You know, we've lost a lot of them. Unfortunately, the Von Erich's all gone except for Kevin. And that's that I mean, yeah, that whole family just tragedy three suicides, I think in the family. Did you go to any of those funerals that what about the funerals over the years? I went to three of them. Well, obviously,
Starting point is 00:07:23 the oldest son, you know, got electrocuted. When his dad first started off there in Buffalo, New York, he was a kid. He had a trailer. He was an interval wrestler, everything. We just got electrocuted. We had a hot wire and a damn trailer park. And then, uh, Kerry, David, you know, and some kind of, um, obviously illegal substance. I was a
Starting point is 00:07:48 I can't know what they're called, but it's probably I hope it's cocaine. No, no, it's a muscle relaxer. Oh he choked it Yeah, he could regurgitate they call them Quailas, so much so much. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I took the order up and so much then he got sick After eating green barbecue and all that which we all do in Japan and he died right there in his own room. Same thing happened to a little Miss Elizabeth really? Yeah, she couldn't regurgitate because she was taking Soma's like that. I've never had a slip-deap with thatma. It's nothing that I want to entertain ever. Yeah, a buddy of mine gave me two somas once and I was, and I was, and he, he, he wanted me
Starting point is 00:08:30 to drive us somewhere. Yeah. So he was not a, he's not the smartest guy. And I drove us on to a street that didn't even exist right on with it. I'm sure. I've never tried one, but man, I've, I've been, I can name a three or four guys that have died, you know, because they just can't regurgitate and they're way coming to middle of the night.
Starting point is 00:08:48 And the soul was relaxed and muscles were bad, you can't. Yeah. I mean, there's 10 times the impact of a valium. Yeah, man, some of those medicines are just too powerful. Yeah. Did you go to some funerals? Yeah, what was like a wild funeral? What was one that really hit you man was there? I mean obviously funerals are just heartbreak and
Starting point is 00:09:11 well probably the hardest for me In the last five years, but well first of all dusty religious Dusty and Piper were really difficult. Yeah, and then hardly race and paper were really difficult for me. And then Harley race, that was really difficult. But, yeah, Dusty must have shot. I mean, it must have been heartbreaking. The WWE, the funeral for Dusty was as well as I think, we're seeing they had it here in Tampa, obviously.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And there were probably 2,000 people trying to get in, but the WWE had full security and the boys spoke, so elegant, they're dead. Cody was wrestling now, well, they're both wrestling, but Cody was WAB, was telling us or any, you know, I didn't need to want him broken, I don't know about. I'll break down with him, I think about it. But he said, he asked his mom one time,
Starting point is 00:10:07 he said, I'll come, it's only just pictures of dad in the house and the rest of his mother replied, why would you have a picture of any other wrestler when you're married to Elvis? Hmm. Well, he was, was he a good husband? What kind of guy was he? Great guy.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Wow. He was so love-a-most innovative. Yeah. Well, he was, was he a good husband? What kind of guy was he? Great guy. Wow. He was so love-a-most innovative. You know, one of the most innovative, right? Third-time with title events. Innovative with ideas and creativity and... He was so fun to... Like, there's wrestlers that are entertaining to watch because of their physical acumen.
Starting point is 00:10:44 There's wrestlers that are entertaining to watch because of their physical acumen. There's wrestlers that are entertaining to watch because of the moves they do. Dusty had that, I loved when he would go against the ropes and kind of put on this, like almost feminine wilds kind of thing. And like he was just a, you know, he could wrestle. I wrestled him probably a thousand hour Broadway. He could wrestle for an hour. Yeah, don't let us wait. It wasn't it was a seabing is to the fact that you could you it wasn't good condition.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Hard to wrestle an hour. Yeah. Oh, yeah, dude. Oh, I can't even make love for 11 minutes. Yeah. To be honest with you. So, so yeah, you put me against another man. I can't do an hour, bro. You know, no matter what city we're in, I'm gonna keep you over in a tan for the night, brother. I get the people that can help you out with that. I don't know. I don't know, man. My friend Dick Murdock went to me as well
Starting point is 00:11:40 and one time the girls said, hey, what about me? He said, hey, we both serve at the same time. I can't know what it can't keep up. That doesn't fly with the chick these days. No these days yeah all these chicks want to you know everybody wants to get off and it's just too much man. I miss the old days when a woman was a happy show. I can't, yeah, man. Well, I always had to take, you know, I've always had,
Starting point is 00:12:09 so I was always so nervous. I've always been nervous, kind of nervous my whole life. And I've always had to get those gas station pills, those ween or pills, you know. And a lot of the series, they came out with they never even tested. I don't think on humans or whatever. I think a lot of them were animal tested.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Yeah. Which I respect, but it's a little different, you know, going three blocks from here to the ancient or the ancient or the ancient, I can't force out to weak them, brother. Really? I'll take you by after we do the interview. They get these shoots up.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Oh, yeah. Oh, wow. It's amazing when you can do it yourself these days. All the time. You got the money. They should wear the shoe right in your wiener. Yeah, right there. Takes 25 years off.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Yeah, because look, I would get these, I'd get the gasses and pills and then make my legs sweat, right? So I could have, I could barely stay on the bed. That was the problem. I mean, it would be like, it would be like, lady, like, she'd like, did you get off of that cano,
Starting point is 00:13:09 but I think my thighs did. I mean, they make your leg sweat so bad, some of them they made them in India. And I mean, those shook my nervous system, but yeah, I've always needed the pills, man. I used to, I used a lot of steroids when I was young, and I don't know if that had enough, I don't know who knows who knows you know it could just be that I'm in my head a lot but yeah I've always had a future when I have to admit in my youth. Oh yeah dude I took
Starting point is 00:13:37 them dude I want to tell you and small testicles. You had small yeah. Nobody explains the downside. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know everybody's got a different opinion. Oh, I remember I've wine got so small wine. Well, I think when I was a senior in high school, it's like trying to find the last two pieces I haven't been candy in a pillowcase, man. It was, it got pretty bad there. Yeah, I remember we used to use test 200, I think was what we used or something doing a
Starting point is 00:14:26 lot of ground test. Yeah, God, it was fun. Yeah. My God, I would fucking choke out my stepmother. Yeah. And I didn't even have one. Yeah, I never I never experienced that. I never gave it.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I guess I didn't take enough of it, but I didn't have that what they call road rage. Yeah, right. I mean, I have to that upset me with ears, but it wasn't as a result of being a steroids, you know. Yeah, but I think you had enough, you had enough energy in you. Yeah, I've always been high energy. Yeah. What a blessing, huh?
Starting point is 00:14:58 Yeah, people of ours assume that I snorted cocaine and all that, the only job I've ever taken, but it was prescription, it's Xanax. Really? No cocaine. I just spoke with you and I'm not smoking now. Not I've been involved in the world of cannabis. But I think that's one of the reasons I was still here because that up and down of cocaine and then the guys would take the uppers in the morning or not just our guys, but athlete's period. Yeah. It's a game when you're competing.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Stay up and then go down. Stay up, especially when you're internationally, when you're traveling internationally, like going to Japan twice a month or going to Australia twice a month, like I was doing in the 80s, it was crazy. Yeah. Yeah, and once you get used, this is the tough thing about using performance and answers, I think once you get used
Starting point is 00:15:52 to getting something to help you get up or to get down, it's hard not to want to use it again. Yeah. And then you need the opposite of it. So that's where it gets really tricky. Well, when I was dying in the 17, I mean, I literally, you know, you know, the story. I mean, I know a lot of stories you're almost died. So which one are we talking about? The 2017. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:13 My test and rough. Oh, well, when you had the, uh, when you had the test and rough, for you, right, I was septic, respiratory, heart failure, total kidney failure, pneumonia, septic, being the worst part, right? And I was in a coma for 13 days. failure, pneumonia, set to be the worst part right, they had it. And I was in a coma for 13 days. So when all that, and of course I had the stoma, the bag that I had to have some ideas. Had that for a year, but at the end of the day when I finally realized, and I had no memory
Starting point is 00:16:39 for six months, going backwards. Forward, I could, for the time I woke up. Of course, I recognized everybody, but I couldn't remember anything. I didn't remember going to the hospital. Wow. So, but when I finally started taking a told of myself, like, I'm fine. I am really fucking, I'm a nightmare. Cosm cosmetic fucking nightmare. I look like shit, and I, so what do you mean a cosmetic nightmare? I mean, I've got a scar from here to here. I lost 41 pounds, I was stoma, I was serious and picture of it was bad. So that changed everything.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Yeah, and my testosterone count, you know, something I always took pride in, right? And we all do, we get it done. You know, good, you know, blood work is a necessity of life. My testosterone count was 12. That can kill you alone. But doctors don't want to play the word test. Osterum is like, no, like, you know, doctors want to do it. I mean, you can, there are ways to find out the levels that you should be at, but I was down to 12. So I call the doctorate, that's too low, but I don't want to prescribe it. 12, what, this 12, 12 sounds like.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Yeah, it's supposed to be 400, my God. Oh, yeah, 12 left. Yeah, I keep it at the thousand now. Oh, okay. But I have to run by the gas station every week. Oh, yeah, it is. Oh, okay. But I got to run by the gas station every week. Oh, yeah. It's filler up. Yeah. I got 60 dollars. Oh, number one. The four order of my agent will work. I got to have open check. Oh, yeah. Brother. This is a thousand to high for an open.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Perfect. Yes. So you were out of come. What was it like to be in a coma man? I always wanted to be in a coma. I just dreamt I just dreamt and I wake up my like I dreamt my daughter got married and I Went back and old thought I was up and wrestling it gets funny I got so high with Mike one night Mike Tyson that it was talking about Mike Tyson? Yeah, yeah So I would work partners in the cannabis business. Mm-hmm. Got so high with Mike one night in the Hamptons that I went it's called the cannabis coma, right? I mean, I actually thought I died. I Said I said to myself And they brought me back to my room
Starting point is 00:19:04 I said I said to myself and they brought me back to my room And I leave there and I thought I mean I wasn't aware of anything. I kept asking people to touch No, like you do when you think it better Uh-huh, and people was squeezing my hand, but I'd be talking to them and they wouldn't talk back to me And I was like on the delay process, right? Yeah, and I said to myself. I eat did I die? on the delay process, right? Yeah. And I said to myself, did I die? I just died because I feel like I did when I was in my coma, but I can think,
Starting point is 00:19:32 I don't think I could think I was in my coma. I mean, that's the way I was talking to myself. Wow. So all of a sudden, I mean, everything possible or I just had a room, finally, at 3 o'clock in the morning, I kind of set up like, the blur went. I'm alive. I'm back.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Yeah. Yeah. I called someone to film and say, is this really you? Yeah. That's all screwed up my guts. That was just a television, that was a television time out.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Oh my God. That's all that was. I said, I think my clothes out for the Daniel table or anything, but let me know it have done wrong. I like to think of what it possibly could have done wrong. Yeah. Oh, yeah, man. I remember just being too, I'll just, yeah, there's something about that level of weed
Starting point is 00:20:20 now. It gets you too, huh? Well, I just haven't done enough. I practice up every time I knew I'm going to see Mike. Yeah, you got to work your way up to it. Yeah, I'm about a three or four hit guy. But when I'm, I just said I'm a smoker as much as you right now, brother. Dude, that weed comes off the top bro.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Oh man. But yeah, that's it. Make it highlight, dude. I remember getting so high one night I was trying to sneak up on a mirror. For like probably two hours. That's good. And I'll tell you this, dude, I got pretty fucking close, man. You just do it. You can sneak it up on a mirror.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Oh, I think if it had been a leap ear, I could have done it. I should have brought some Rick Ferdinand for you, man. Oh, I'll get some. Okay, I'll get some. I'm glad I got this, man. You brought me this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:12 I mean, this alone is pretty epic. Yeah, you know. It's great. You are an inner, you are like an original human energy drink. So I am. Yeah, so to have one, yeah, makes perfect sense. Have you been in an accident?
Starting point is 00:21:24 Have you been damaged up? Check your body. There's something broken. There's something missing. That's the, you're like, whoa, Jeepers. Then wonder, I'm late to work. I don't have a limb. Well, Morgan and Morgan is America's largest injury law firm.

Starting point is 00:24:17 You know, one thing Rick, that I noticed that you did, that you always did really exceptionally, which kept me super entertained was your ability to play defense actively, right? Like even if you were being the victim in the fight, you were always like asking for mercy. There was always, if you got hit, you always went over your own legs. leg. Yeah, it was like it was as much fun to watch you like being defeated as it was to watch you winning. And for some reason, sometimes it was almost. I'm better at getting beat. You were good at it. You were really good at it, weren't you? Then I just lie next to MTV and they feel forgotten about it. That didn't happen to me. When you were begging for
Starting point is 00:25:03 watching nobody did it. Like, yeah like, yeah, it was just, there was especially with the hair red, blood flannel everywhere. But there was something about it that, because a lot of guys, they would just be getting beat in that moment. But you were always actively demanding the attention. Sometimes I wouldn't even know who was hitting you
Starting point is 00:25:22 because I was watching you. And that's really interesting. A lot of times you're watching the B-turn, not the B-T, you know. Yeah, I could take an ass kickin'. I was really good at that. How did that energy start, you think? I just had a whole life.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Brother, I was ADD before ADD was about, oh yeah, I'm still lookin' out the wind on fourth grade. Yeah. Richard Quiver, attention please. Social studies, 101. I spent 13 years in high school. Let me tell you, I still have in past English, Orland. There's only four years off there.
Starting point is 00:25:54 No, I was there five. I mean, I mean, I did go to 12th grade. I went to 13th grade. And then barely got out. Did you go to prom? Do you remember going, did you go to high school prom? Oh, yeah. Yeah, who wasn't?
Starting point is 00:26:10 Well, here's the funny thing. I had, this is the greatest thing I have never told you for. So I hitchhiked. My parents were Minneapolis. I'm very conservative. I was in private school in Wisconsin. I got in trouble. I was either private school, nothing bad. Yeah, the headlight center, where'd you go? What was it called? I went to Whittle in Academy and be a burden. Prepp School, we're expensive. With either that or avert form school.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Because I got in trouble trying to buy liquor under age. Nothing serious, but it was enough to get me in trouble. And then riding in my scooter, or only a cow home. So I got there, so I made all these friends. And there's no cell phones back in the 60s. And I got in the car. So I got there, so I made all these friends, and there's those cell phones back in the 60s and all that. So now I have a whole new group of friends,
Starting point is 00:26:53 and they're all from wealthy families, and they go away to go to spring break. I said, what's spring break? I said, we're all going to Florida. So I went home, and I said to my mom, and then I said, can I go visit my friend Bruce and Chicago? And they said, yeah, they gave me 200 bucks to bring the train station. And they drove off and I can walk all the train station and hitchhacked all the way to Fort Lauderdale. Wow. It was the greatest, I think two years in a row.
Starting point is 00:27:20 So would you go right out to the interstate and put your thumb in? Yeah, brother, I'm telling you, I I mean I'm walking through making Coneyline man And that was a strange shit for a guy from Minneapolis Walking through making Georgia brother. Yeah, it was looking different than me Ampeless So anyway, then I got picked up by these college girls Well right in so my first right there. I'm in I mean our bees, right And with my friend in this chick, it's working in Arby's. And she goes, where would you,
Starting point is 00:27:49 oh God, I was constantly underjacking, I don't know, sure. You know, like, Friday would be cool. And she goes, we're in a good school. I said, the University of Wisconsin, she said, cool. She said, do you want to go have drinks afterwards? I said, what time are you going off? She said 10 o'clock. And so I ended up staying with her in her mom. Wow, on top of my mom with the top of which one?
Starting point is 00:28:08 on both. But I invited the one, I invited the one to what was there 10 days. I mean, I look dude, it's 10 days you got to meet the whole family. Exactly. But I ended up inviting her to a problem, you know, but not even thinking. And so I get a letter from her at school and she said, um, my mom is flying me to Madison. Are you going to pick me up and take me to the problem? And I had a girlfriend in high school. Why that was bad.
Starting point is 00:28:40 So I did have to express that, and I made a mistake and I was going to express an anime to the state going to have an asshole. Gwen were then was her name. Oh, Gwen, where are you now? When were the word give me. And so she did she had a shit in fly and then you told you to play. Oh, she did. You told your girlfriend you couldn't take her. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Yeah. So was it strange? Because I, I, I, I so was it strange because I I Similarly brought a girl to I didn't have like that kind of relationship in high school Right, they gave us what what they called Saturday night. This is a great ship They gave us what's called so we should write so what is it called? It's so she so 10 minutes do I have behind a tree? Who did the parents? No, the school did.
Starting point is 00:29:26 Oh really? So they have dances and all that. Right, at 10 o'clock. You get 10 minutes to go out behind a tree and back, it was a cool way to school, back to the dormitories. The dormitories weren't cool, but we all had binoculars and shit, you know, and tell us school for the check.
Starting point is 00:29:41 You had a lot of intents. Well, you had a time, you had the intel thing. You know, lot of int. Well, you had a time. He had the intel thing. But it was in polar right where we were able to back them. Yeah, brother. Um, so, so they gave you 10 minutes after the prom and after the dance and after every Saturday night, they called them soesh. Okay. You guys get up to him is It's gonna be turning 9th day in a tree with you and you get in 10 minutes. I didn't mean come on. Yeah, what you could try I know I did Just as I got that first hook on call the egg with a whistle. Whoa Like a military drill
Starting point is 00:30:20 You have 10 seconds to return it over all right. Well turn it got them dogs loose It's so hard to touch a tip with a St. Bernard. Oh my god Just doing it Tokyo probably just try You're trying to get that brawn Thank you. This is not where bra. I just wear a big sweater nobody will know Thank you. This is not where I was just where a big sweater nobody'll know God that was fun. So you had you weren't you were unsuccessful with staying committed in a relationship from the beginning Oh, yeah, I've had problems with that relationships. I've been very four times wow But that was a lot of that is in respect to my travel. God, you know
Starting point is 00:31:02 You being a fan you put it really I wrestled an average of 400 days a year, 400 times. Yeah, because twice on Saturday, twice on Sunday for 10 years. My account, I'll get a wrestle for it. Don't break. I know you're you graduated, but it's only 365 days. Right. I said, I know, but I wrestled twice on Saturday, twice on Sunday. Man, I did that for 10 years. You cannot, I'm never but I wrestle twice. And it's not already twice on Sunday. Man, I did that for 10 years. You cannot, I'm never home. How do you, how do you stay married?
Starting point is 00:31:28 Some women just can't live like that. And I don't blame them. Yeah, of course not. Yeah, my first wife just said, I, this is cool. And I have two kids by her. We get along here the day. We never had an argument.
Starting point is 00:31:39 She just said, this is not what I signed up for. Yeah, I said, I'll buy you a bigger house. She doesn't care. I don't, I said, I'll buy you a bigger house. You don't care. I'm gonna spend my life alone. Because once you get on the road and if you're successful, as you know, you're traveling around. Yeah, once you get busy, it's fun.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Yeah, you know, and why go home? If you have a day off and you're like, in Los Angeles, you have one day off. Are you gonna go all the way back to Toronto and Carolina? Or you're gonna stay in LA. You're gonna stay in LA? It's gonna be a new family. New York, and go, I don't know, you're gonna stay in LA. You're gonna stay in LA, it's gonna be a new family. You're gonna stay in LA, it's gonna be a new family.
Starting point is 00:32:07 I mean, you find your old family. How many guys do you feel like had kind of illegitimate children out there and, oh, I don't know. Do you think it started to happen? I think I'm sure it has happened, but I mean, that happens in any traveling People that travel yeah, it's gonna happen because I've never experienced that myself But you know some of these girls in the old days they wanted to get pregnant
Starting point is 00:32:37 Oh, yeah, you had money. They wanted to get pregnant can guess what hello You know, that's why all this stuff is so sophisticated now with DNA and all that. Oh. That's what it didn't, it wasn't around back when I was, a year age and that. Yeah, you had to hold the baby up next to the man. Yeah, it's crazy. But now I never experienced that.
Starting point is 00:32:58 I don't know, but I think, you know, we're falling back, that can't all fall back in real stories because, right, yeah. That's two partners. Well, that, yeah. back, that can't all fall back in realsers, because this is important. Well, that's, yeah. Well, that's happened. I mean, football players that travel, the best way to travel, baseball players are never home. I mean, yeah, pilots and flight attendants come on.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Oh, great. They're just, yeah, I mean, they just have to be able to. And the old days, that was, they were the most fun. The flight attendants were the most fun. We have matches, we have tickets at the matches. Yes, what do I tell you saying that? Oh, okay, let's put the tell you about that.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Yeah, flight attendants, and flight attendants used to be hot. Yeah, oh, yeah, they were, they were, they ever, they still are some of them, but it's just an attitude thing now. But some of them now they're hot, but then they're like men. Well, it's just a different kind of. Or, you know, they're just kind of like, you think it's a woman, and then they turn them and they say, you know, and they're like, I'm a man, you know, and you're like, oh, dying. I have an experience, I have an experience that they just don't want to do any more than they have to.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Yeah. And the old days I think that they were... They were... Above and beyond, they came in. Above and beyond, but normal. Yeah. It makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Things have changed a lot with that. You know, you can't... You have to be very careful. You say to a woman now. Oh, yeah. I mean, you couldn't exist nowadays. No, I mean, no one's kidding. God, I used to walk around all the flat tennis
Starting point is 00:34:29 doing the sweet and low joke, you know. I'll show it to you later on. You know, it's a different thing. It's a different thing. So we know, I'll show it later on. No, you could never do that with a play then and now good Lord. But did women get offended back then by it? Are they kind of liked Flirt and they're like, well they're like, Flirt, are you kidding?
Starting point is 00:34:53 Yeah. I mean, but you know, now it's like any kind of travel to the, I mean, I dread, that's why I fly private a lot. If I can, if it's within within if it's practical. Yeah, understood Because people in general they put computers on put ear plugs on you got no one to talk to People don't drink and the old days people would drink on the plane. Oh, yeah, talk to each other and walk around and Now everything is such a stringent. I mean, everything is a rule. Yes. You know, we have, remember the old, we sit in the old cameras and hire in the 747s. Tell stories,
Starting point is 00:35:33 laugh, and the big trays of food. You know, that, all that stuff on, on our domestic airlines that gone. Yeah. Now the foreign airlines, still about that stuff going. Oh, yeah. We've shut down everything. Singapore Airlines. You were never going off the plane. Yeah, the four airlines that's still about that yourself going. Oh, yeah, we've said on everything Singapore Airlines you were never gonna have to plan. Yeah, you must know you'll never you get You get them a size. Oh, don't apologize. Yeah, yeah, everything. Hey, it's somebody come on. I polished my feet on there. Did they yeah I never had I even know they needed politics. Yeah, anything you want. They'll do it all. Yeah, no fucking culture I mean, they'll cut the hair on the back of your legs. We have me, I mean, I'm going, uh, don't, don't perion.
Starting point is 00:36:08 I mean, they just, they never stop serving you. Yeah. It's great. But I domestically just got them so conservative. And it's just different. Everything is a rule. That's a great statement. Everything is a rule now.
Starting point is 00:36:19 It's like, don't attack the pilots. Don't smoke in the bathroom. Well, I understand that, but I mean, it's just, I understand the pilot thing, but it's like, you know, if you're, I'll give you an example. So I fly, I've got, like I've got four million miles with Delta, and I had to, and you add up all my miles over the years.
Starting point is 00:36:40 If 70 million miles? No, I probably got 15 million miles between Northwest of which they went bankrupt Eastern went bankrupt US air I mean they've all You know a bonnepsy down yeah American United Well, they're still going and Delta courses my favorite choice. I like Delta tip. Yeah, but We used to be able to socialize and all that now you know when the cap light When the thing goes on and they go Here's what makes me mad and I'm sure you felt it. You know when the captain goes
Starting point is 00:37:14 Okay, ladies general getting order getting ready to approach that means you're right at 10,000 feet. I know this for a fact You're still 45 to 50 minutes from touching down to playing this any. Ma'am, can I have a cup of coffee? No, we have, we've closed the garlic. You know, ma'am, the fight, we're not going to land for 50 minutes.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Oh, that's what I'm sorry. I think what ma'am, I said, can I have a built beer? She said, don't, we close it up. I said, is that your rule or the conflite rule? I said, are you, I mean, I've had that your rule or the conflight world? I said are you I mean I've had with like a girl. I was harassing me. I said oh that's it for a beer Excuse me, you know or they'll go. Oh, yeah, please. Mr. For what would you like? Yeah, can have a picture? Can we do a sign something for my son? It's a or b. Yeah, and it's someone and I would say it's like
Starting point is 00:38:03 80 60 40 good, but the 40 can just, you know, and then and then like I had that surgery, right? Mm-hmm. That bag on broke a couple times on their own. Yeah. And it smells bad. Right. I had to stay in three hours in the bathroom. The woman's knocking. What are you doing? Oh, you really don't want me to know, but don't knock in the door again. I mean, you can't, yeah, it's horrible. Wow. Because it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it. Yeah, I wouldn't wish not anybody ever. Yeah, I mean, I've stepped in shit before, and that's that's if I was bringing my own shit outside of me, I would be bummed out.
Starting point is 00:38:49 My wife actually had to learn how to clean it. Well, I hired full time help, right? Yeah. It got me more like on the weekend, and it's sending to like a weekend where it's like, you know, like being in a rest home, though, regular staff is gone. And the people working on the weekends don't wanna be there anyway. They're second string, third string.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Yeah, you're talking. So then she finally would go to her room, her classmates, and learn how to do it herself. But it's nasty, man. Yeah. And you have to really watch what you eat because different things trigger it. That makes sense.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Was it kinda cool to eat some things and see them come out in the bag? I know the bag wasn't clear. Oh, it wasn't. They didn't make clear bags. Damn, you got to get that clear one out. That'd be crazy. I'm laughing right now. What a funny thing. Yeah, no, it's crazy. My sister was born with a rare liver disease.
Starting point is 00:39:43 And so she needed a transplant her whole life. So rare liver disease. And so she needed a transplant, her whole life's more for kids. And so she had to have a bag a lot. And so there was always, we were always dealing with bile or some type of thing around the house, you know? Just tell you why, I feel bad, I'm making light of it. But, you know, I was joking.
Starting point is 00:40:00 I was just saying some of the things that you go through with that condition, and it takes really patient people, does that make sense? Oh yeah. That really cared for you, that to be around you. Well, nurses, that's one thing.
Starting point is 00:40:14 I would love to marry a nurse, I think, one day because this, the ability to have that job is really a God-given gift, I think. Let me tell you this, I had right after this, right? I had to have four heart surgeries in seven weeks. Okay. But by the time, by the second two, they were walking me in the same room and the same nurses and the girl brought what he call those things a player when she was playing my space out of my and she goes she goes to me that's
Starting point is 00:40:59 where the guy you couldn't make his up right so they're Downing government and she put a watch on top of my Green and she said I want to see space. I'm looking like this The cold love Who says that to a patient? She said we don't want to see space now looking like this. No, we want that anybody. I hope she met the other nurses. These days, I know who's trying to live? Yeah, oh my God. Wow. Or take a picture of this. Oh, yeah. Rick Blurry and all that shit.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Wait, wait, wait, wait. Look at this little dealing. What's he kidding? Yeah, you don't want to. Yeah, that would be the worst, man. Oh, no, shit. Yeah, I was going to get my second best act to me because for a certain in order. I told the girls are waiting for me and I said you guys
Starting point is 00:42:09 signed their release and they couldn't make a water release. This is probably such you know I can't tell but I'll small my dick. They all start laughing. I go she goes we, she goes, we don't do that here. I said, ma'am, I'm just kidding. I'm getting ready. Go ahead. Have you guys cut my nuts again? Trying to find some, can you burn them all with it?
Starting point is 00:42:35 Yeah, like G first lady. You want to saw it a month or so? Yeah. Let us have a show. It is your side. We don't say releases. I just miss it. I just kidding. Please. How small my dick is. What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:42:46 What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:42:53 What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:43:01 What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? You said messages, girls, you better come and fuck me. You creep. You're like Jesus. Well, all right. I haven't got one of those lately. I have to have my holy way. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Okay, my number of best number. What state had the best women, do you think? Florida. Here or a. Because Florida has a lot of criminals built into it. There's something about that pirate because remember pirates started this place. There's Spanish people can dance. They can hide treasure.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Yeah. It's a great place to live. But you know, in different countries, Miami and Tampa is like 90. Yeah. Tampa just this is great. But Texas beautiful woman there. Oh, yeah, beautiful women everywhere, but You just seems like you're the abundance of on Tampa You got you place to have all the colleges here. You've got
Starting point is 00:43:55 Tampa University then you have South Florida Who's the UCL for she went? I mean, and then you've got Florida Florida state I mean there's a barbeer called Amso that during the football season, the alumni and all of it, it's insanity. What's it called? At American Social. Okay, Amso.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Yeah, and it's over here on the water, you know, with the yachts outside and everything. And I would say it's probably, hmm, probably 14 or 15,000 square feet, It's big. Yeah. And they can house it. But man, for the day of like 30 TVs for these college games and that river in town. It's a vibe, huh? It's a vibe and a half. And there are women everywhere. God. I wish I was 35 just one day. What would you do your time? I thought about that a lot. I don't know, man. But just give me an idea. 35 on a Saturday in American social. I like to do a lot of damage.
Starting point is 00:44:57 30 even more. That five years on. That five years on. Did you guys after the matches, was there like group shower? How did it all, was there like a big group shower? Only with a group, big group shower. Like for the, like did you guys, was it like a football team that after the after the night everybody,
Starting point is 00:45:18 was there like a big. No, the guys shower, I mean, we get their match and they're gone, yeah. Yeah. And when you guys used to drive, I mean, one thing that's always fascinating about wrestlers, I'm friends with the Miz, right? He's a wrestler. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:30 And he's a great kid. He is a great guy. How do you know? He's a great guy. We've known each other for almost 15 years now. Oh, he's a great kid, man. Yeah. He's a guy that really cares for the business man.
Starting point is 00:45:39 And they shit on him when he started. They gave him a tough time. They gave him a tough time. That's bullshit. And that, you know, that's the guy that bullied, I got no time for that, but yeah, he's a wonderful kid. And he's made the most of it. And I'll go and tell you the truth.
Starting point is 00:45:55 He, he, whatever they hand him, he makes work. He did it, yep. That's a good point, huh? He had to give whatever they hand him. He goes, he doesn't complain. If he does, I'm not aware of it. I don't know. Whatever they hand him, he goes, he doesn't complain. If he does, I'm not aware of it. And so damn respectful. He's a great kid.
Starting point is 00:46:10 Yeah. Yeah, I'm that a year ago with his dad. He was always a hard worker. Yeah. And just extremely cares. He always had that energy that was, he always had this charisma that was a little bit beyond him as a person. He's a clear, a good guy.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Yeah. He was Dolph,, Ziggler. Oh, his Dolph? Yeah. Your Dolphs are comedian too, you know, right? Yeah, I know that he's done some comedy. He and I communicate sometimes on social media. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:33 But the Miz and I have been friends for a long time and I've always admired his ability to roll with the punches. Yeah. What was it like whenever you did your storyline ever get like wherever you were like? I know you had the like those bitch off years where you didn't love it. And he did it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:51 It was. It must have been hard, huh? Well, I was like, you know, out of sight out of mind, it didn't work. You kept trying to lose me. Like what do you mean out of sight out of mind? Me if you thought if you could take me out to TV, you know, but I'm very mean that he forgot where I'd been for 20 years, 25 years before I met him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:15 You don't lose 25 years of being the man. And then all of a sudden, have some gift shit trying to put you in the back of the pack. Yeah. Yeah, I don't even think you couldn't even be my brains out there That was a big self confidence Big time a big time loss of self confidence period in my life. Yeah Yeah, I guess you don't have as much control over how, not relevant you stay, but how much vision,
Starting point is 00:47:46 how much attention they give you. I mean, it's kind of interesting to know what you guys as businesses set up, right? It's like you're the performer, you're the athlete, you're the competitor, but then there's also this business side that kind of gets to, right. Ask us. Was it like that early on?
Starting point is 00:48:06 Did it change? It wasn't like that early on. No, I got it. When I got in the business, you were either good, you were bad. And if you were bad, and they don't like you, they beat you up. Really? Right beat you up right in the ring. That's a good.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Yeah. Yeah. No, no, no. It's so political. It's off, Jesus. It's a business more. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, You can be better than anybody, but it's all... It's sad. But you either accept it or you don't be part of it,
Starting point is 00:48:52 and I'd rather be part of it, and accept it, and I don't talk about it, and I'm not talking about any individuals. I'm just addressing the reality of our business. I mean, it's very political. Yeah. We're footballing all that. It's political, but you're not going to put in Roger's down.
Starting point is 00:49:11 You're not going to put down XYZ guy. Well, just put it in the user and example, because he says something smart. Yeah. You're going to play them win. Right. And if somebody says something smart, it's almost with you guys, it almost would be who've them to use that as the... Wait, have these writers that come in?
Starting point is 00:49:33 That they're never wrestled. Writers are on right now. I mean, they come and they go and turn over. And how do you ever get to learn the business? If it took me 12 years, let's say say I started in 72, I didn't figure the shit out really till 83. So how long has that? 10 years, nine years? Yeah. Yeah. It took me nine years to figure it out. And every time I thought I had it, I had it. Something else popped up. Yeah. But then I once I got it, I didn't let it go But then people want to take it from you. I was too old without it. I was not ready
Starting point is 00:50:08 Didn't look the same that 80's heels don't drive hurt at all. Yeah, and here I'm sitting here with you today. Where are they? Yeah, I don't know They're driving between towns. Yeah Some of the buses some of the renegards. Yeah What was it like when you guys would hit the road? Was that a lot of fun? Did you guys enjoy it? 3000 miles a week man, minimum. Yeah, it was fun.
Starting point is 00:50:33 And it was mostly the southeast you guys were in. Well, I was in Charlotte. I'm probably the only rest alive. Even Hulk had to move out of Florida. He moved to Stanford, Royal. He's telling you that. But Hulk and I are probably only two guys that during the course of our career and our Haiti
Starting point is 00:50:51 that I never left Charlotte. They wanted me to go to Atlanta, they wanted me to go to Florida. I mean, I wish I had come down here only because of attack, state tax issue. Tax savings, yeah. But at once I found out, when I got to Charlotte with me and Richard Petty, I had building with 10 stories,
Starting point is 00:51:13 Brown Bay, I'm obviously in that town grow. And why would I leave that to come anywhere, right? Yeah, especially if it's your home, if it's a city you feel like that's your home. Well, I moved there when I was 23 and I grew with a city. Yeah. Did all your wives, you met them all in Charlotte? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Wow. No. My first wife, I met many of us. She's from Minneapolis. Oh, yeah. She was in Charlotte, now because of my grand children. Yeah. Never had a crossword, just great story.
Starting point is 00:51:45 So we used to stay at the Raleigh Hilton, and there was a bar called the Hilton Underground, right? So this guy walked us, he says, God damn, I was talking about 10 girls, it was packed. Because I guess I always say on TV, I used to go, whatever hotel we were gonna be in, I would say, 18 to 28, no boyfriend, so husbands come and see the nature of what I just tell them where we were.
Starting point is 00:52:12 What did you wife think of that? Well, same thing you thought about me, not one of my wedding rates. Why do I have to worry about that? That's not my gimmick, honey. Why, why you telling me where we're staying? I said to give it the deal on the old thing, I don't know what you're saying. I mean, do you actually think anybody shows it up boring? Of course, the point is, it's packed.
Starting point is 00:52:33 The guy goes to me. You can't get a guy get lasers, I said, get a guy get laid, but I'll get you laid out here in a staircase. we buy you drink you with my wife's private eye Here's some other guys Hey, just get the cool guy I don't know about got a later that later that. Listen, I was so good I used to get the midger wrestling late. That's hard. That's really called by laying. Give me lady. Give me lady. Give me lady. That's a little some bitch. It's already a few women and two. Yeah, what kind of women will usually go go fat little fella. I can call him right now. She'd run the speedway club and show it now. Oh, give me the golfers. The golfers say the
Starting point is 00:53:37 midget's turned down. They're laying and they'll tell to you, they want to write to you, it's like, be my older brother, so we're gonna roll it like, you need me, you need me, you need me, you need me, you need me, you need me, you need me. Yeah. Man, you like hooking your buddies up? Yeah, yeah. It was hard to get in that, Tokyo was impossible to get in that.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Really? Yeah. So in Tokyo, it was hard to get him, it was hard to get a little person laid. Yeah, but I hang, the cowboy Lang at a pretty hang on, so I could sell that to a girl. Get that one on him.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, boy. I hate that. I mean, it would be so hard to, I mean, that would be, just to, you know, that's like a damn kettlebell. Yeah. I, something like that. Oh, I mean, if you even have half a pound of a
Starting point is 00:54:27 wiener on them, hit on a little person, that's fucking yeah, it looks a lot bigger. And especially if you put the right makeup on the side of it, dude, because I'll put makeup on mine. I'm making look, you know, you want wanted the light hit at the right way. I think he's lighting everything. Hahaha. When was the first time you got laid, do you remember it? 15. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:58 It was 14, I mean, 14 or 15. I was, I just got my WSI and I was a, what is it WSI? Water safety instructor, probably a lifeguard and I, I got my lifeguard and thing. I must, I think I just turned 15.
Starting point is 00:55:18 So I got my WSI, so I could be a lifeguard at the, my parents have been in the colony apartments, other ways for new home to be old for two years. So I just summertime job like cleaning pool lifeguard, give us some instructions and talk to the mothers. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, boy, the travel, the lonely mothers, there has been done a road.
Starting point is 00:55:44 You were working both sides of the net, didn't man? Yeah. Yeah. Here you go. And you met a girl, you know the crawl. Mama, don't let your baby grow up to be a little nature boy. I want to let you know that Gray Block Pizza, you know, they were the first sponsor of this podcast.
Starting point is 00:56:08 And the owner moved on. He folded up his dough and he moved to Oregon and he started a business called Blue Cube Baths. started a business called blue cube baths and they are ice plunges. They are cold plunges. And man, they just put you, God, they just put you right back into the cradle of civilization, baby. They make you feel alive, son. They make a, oh, don't make a dang eagle land on your tongue, just the virility you feel being in there. They're really, really wonderful bluecubebaths.com. You can check them out. I was very fortunate to receive one as a gift from them and I just can't recommend them enough. And I just wanted to let you know how they associate
Starting point is 00:57:01 to the podcast. And if you're interested in an ice bath or in a cold plunge, blue cube baths is where to go. Yeah, it was a fun job, but I know. So you medillated there? Flight attendants, I mean, oh, I got to flight attendants there was everything. It's Jesus. This day I'm out of beta because I was seeing this girl
Starting point is 00:57:22 that was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines who was dating the head of the Bay Dallas at the University of Minnesota. So when they rushed me, it's like five years later, the guy you never got over. He was jealous? I guess. I was 15 and she was what, 23. Dang, that's a win, bro.
Starting point is 00:57:44 I used to be sitting there, I talked to her mom and dad in the apartment and she would say, Rick, come to the door, come up to the stairways, I can show you something. And she'd walk over the stairs and she would stand in a completely naked night heels. Wow. Going like this. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay, my God boy and
Starting point is 00:58:08 Tits was just so nice back then, weren't they everything? Not God I never seen I like that my entire life Even in the magazine it looks different. Yeah Nothing like a real tip. Yeah, you're an adult woman like I got I blew coral or a car which took me 10 hours. You what? I blew coral or a car which is that old fashioned deal or it's 10 hours sweating like it's so big. 120 degrees. That's so much I like that stuff.
Starting point is 00:58:35 She had a 442. And that's the first one you ever made love to? No, no, no. The first one I made love to was why I didn't know how to make love. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I was like, you know, who knows? But the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, really? Oh, we did, oh my God. Okay, human score is gone. I've never had that. I would get counted out of the ring all the time.
Starting point is 00:59:09 No. I mean, I would get, yeah. God. And there's nothing sadder. I'll tell you this from somebody you don't have this experience, but I'll tell you there's nothing sadder when it goes like, you wanna go again?
Starting point is 00:59:20 You're like, I want to. I'll think, but we're not. And then you have to sit there and do something where you got a fucking go get eliminate or something. Yeah. I haven't experienced that. But I have. I have. I have a neck situation. I just go like I'm tired. But the worst part is that I never say I can't. I never, in that freak, you never tell a woman the truth. No, Jesus. Then you start telling her the truth. Then you gotta be honest with yourself
Starting point is 00:59:52 and that's hard to do with a woman. Oh, she's, they can put the hottest land on me and ask me a thousand times. And I have guilty of doing it, but they still won't admit it. Wow. I told the judge five times, Judge, I did not do that. We have you on film, that's not me.
Starting point is 01:00:10 It looked just like you, that's not me. Judge said, I'm gonna hold you in contempt. Well, I'm not gonna miss me. What do you call it, please the fifth? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I don't remember that. When you start telling them the truth, boy, you're in trouble. Yeah. Holy cow. But women like that game.
Starting point is 01:00:34 They want it. They want you to. They want to be. They want to be as clever as we are. But they're not. So women like the game, huh? You gotta remember that. Oh, I sure gotta do.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Yeah. That's a lot of things. I'm gonna tell you something. I'm gonna win a women love cowboys. Ladies love outlaws, like a little baby loves straight dogs. You know that? For every good woman there's two outlaws. For every outlaw just 20 women. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Even a version of blanks. They make the noise. Yeah, that's crazy. God. Yeah, dude, I've been sometimes on the road. It's like, yeah, sometimes you, like, I think there could be a woman that could come up to me right now and be like, do you remember this? And I'm like, I have no idea about that. Yeah, first of all, they don't, a lot of them don't look the same. I just have no idea what you
Starting point is 01:01:45 were talking about. It was me in 1982. I said, who? You know what? I mean, hello, someone moved around online. She's blocking traffic here. She's claiming she knows it's impossible. What we, I think I've got a goal. Who? Have you had some, ladies, that came back? That's so back. Hell yeah. My God. That happened at least once a month. Different cities are on the who who have you had some more ladies that came back that said oh hell yeah my God that happened at least once a month different cities around the country remember me no and how well I'm 74 some of my God and I'm like, my friend and I just said, beek, and he says, everybody here hates his dead. He says, somebody's sick, my husband,
Starting point is 01:02:32 he's a lord. There's no way that you and I, the man on a wish ward not a chance. Dude, let's dig an identity. You got the wrong guy. My name is Fred Phillips, not Rick Flair. Did you watch my biography? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:49 Yeah. Man. What is it? What is it? Was it, you worked, I know you worked on the road. Who was fun to travel with on the road? Like when you guys were in the car cruise and who was it? Oh, me, Aaron, Tony and Barry is the best.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Yeah. Oh, JJ, yeah. And that was during four horsemen days. Four horsemen did the best. Wow, man. How much fun must that have been? And we're all riding the same car? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:16 What kind of car would you get? We're all driving Cadillac, and I bought the Elvis the number of cities thing here, and I bought it, but that started by a Mercedes, and I never changed. I bought it. But then I started buying Mercedes and I never changed. I bought a roadless one time but it just, it's any more of the, because the road's a big deal.
Starting point is 01:03:33 And you can't park it near anything as you're afraid it's gonna get dinged up. That's what I never liked. I rode with a friend one time who was rich and I'm like, dude, we got a park seven miles of legs because you don't wanna get the doors dinged. You guys would hit the road, huh? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:47 Everything was well. Well, as long as later on, we traveled via private jet, our company bought a Falcon 10, which was great. But in our younger days, we traveled. Oh, yeah, but we left the traveler in the day. You never going to go, Michael, why drive it? When I was young, we, we, we let you travel in the day. You're never gonna go, you go, why drive it? When I was young, we drove at night. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:04:07 But we started to realize that we were, at a level of popularity, why not spend the night? Going out. Enjoy the local, you know, whatever food, whatever establishment, ladies. Or flavor, yeah. Yeah, and then travel the next day. But tell them we got the jet, that's the moment.
Starting point is 01:04:25 Shit, we parked our jet in Vegas. Work Seattle, back to Vegas, out all night. Portland, back to Vegas, out all night. LA, back to Vegas, out all night. Send the vehicle back to Vegas, all night. Call the Great American Mash on tour. Albuquerque, back to Vegas, right? Vegas. And that Vegas back to Vegas, right? Vegas.
Starting point is 01:04:45 And then I've been, and then Frisco and LA, and then we had canneset anyway home. Man, I mean, I was earning a weeder product. You know, a lot of the guys were loading up, which is not uncommon, I just, doing coke. Yeah, the only reason I didn't, my dad was a doctor and he just said,
Starting point is 01:05:03 home day one man, he said you're gonna Discoyce can see this happening in your business. I don't know anything about it But you know it happens not not just to you guys But because they were wearing terror in the travel. Oh, yeah, it's almost a necessity. Yeah, but I avoided that But oh man, I think I've I've had 17 nervous breakdowns No shit. I was so exhausted. And one night I wrestled for our, you know, Randall or the old Eddie Graham sports arena,
Starting point is 01:05:34 which is a 10 building, 104 degrees, and I wrestled with wood trees. When my heart was like racing like hell, so I called my dad on a pay phone. He was in Minneapolis, and I said my dad on a pay phone. He was in Minneapolis, I said, dad, my heart's racing. He said, what was the last time you went to bed? And I said, I don't know, I thought, I saw,
Starting point is 01:05:52 I didn't want to answer. I said, why went to bed last night at what time? You said, I never went to bed, right? And then, so I had to go to Tokyo the next day. And I got into playing, going, God, I can't do this. So I drank all the way to Nareta. Drank $14. I maybe slept to our, but I woke up drinking ranch. This isn't like 83 or 84. Land in Nareta back then we had the paper ticket and I said, I just
Starting point is 01:06:22 can't do this. And I could hear Bob's wife, Flair Sun, you know, I walked over to the guy, I said when's the next flight back in the United States? I didn't want anything to get to Charlotte. He said we got one for Seattle leaving in 20 minutes. I said that when back to it and never that deal with the bags, took the paper ticket, put it back, I flew from Noreda to Seattle, Seattle to Chicago, Chicago to Charlotte. And to make it long story short, I sat down next to the guy. I sat down where?
Starting point is 01:06:58 sat down next to his guy on the plane, going back to Noreda to Seattle. And they go, do you mind if I talk to you? He said, no, why? He said, I'm a vice, I'm having a nervous breakdown. He said, I'm going to talk to him. And he said, really? I said, yeah, I'm having a nervous breakdown.
Starting point is 01:07:15 And so I talked all the way to Seattle, drank all the way to Seattle. And then I slept to Chicago. And I walked to God and I could walk, you're gotten, and I'm playing, I landed in Charlotte. And the firm order was there. Jimmy Klocky said, you got to go back, you're advertised. We got back on the plane, they're even left the airport, went all the way back to Tokyo, drinking again.
Starting point is 01:07:40 I mean, I was having a full phase in North Breakdown. You got there and went to your arena, wrestled an hour, and I broke this sweat and I just started over again. But the guy from Seattle, we changed addresses, right? He sent me a Christmas guy for 10 years. He said, I didn't know how famous you were. We really enjoyed talking to you. I mean you're an interesting guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:07 He doesn't that crazy. I didn't know how famous you were when I made it. I really enjoy talking and I hope you're feeling better. Oh, full flesh breakdown man. God, what did it feel like when you're having a nervous breakdown? Like what do you kind of go through? I had one a few years ago. Oh, you just you lose control. I mean, you just like you're looking for something to talk to.
Starting point is 01:08:30 It's strange. It's hard to walk up to someone and say, hey, I think I'm having a nervous breakdown. Most of you want to run away and go, we got to call the cops. He's a wacko. Yeah, call God. No, I waited for the plane to drop it for it. I said, I don't want him calling the guy one one. You're like, hey, remind me when we take off, I got something to tell you. And now it is getting, imagine, I'm going to play it in it.
Starting point is 01:08:55 Will you talk to me? I'm going to break down the whole gate. I'll take it. Yeah, I'll call you racist and taste. Can we land the plane, please? Yeah. To put you in the suit and take off the plane. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:07 Oh, I got about five of them. No kidding. Yeah, it's heavy, huh? You know, Gora Fobias, were you have to be close to something? Oh, yeah, yeah. No, John Mark. Gora of Fobias.
Starting point is 01:09:18 Yeah, you can't be alone. You can't walk outside of your house. Oh, you have that, you think. I know I had it. Wow. Yeah, I had it for about six months. I couldn't, I couldn't get myself to leave and drive the airport.
Starting point is 01:09:31 I mean, it's horrible. What do you think brought it on them? When you feel back in it, like what it, because I was just living a crazy lifestyle. Do you think you felt bad about anything? Or do you think you just, it was just so much of drinking and party and, Oh, just so much drinking a party and I just I didn't sleep. Yeah. And the one thing I did do which is kind of legendary in our business is regardless of
Starting point is 01:09:54 what I did to myself I worked out every day. And sometimes I just pushed myself too hard and that would cause that. And then have in different promoters try to you know, you know like when I cut my hair I really lost my mind when I cut my hair. Jim heard Spartacus put a earring on I'm Rick Flare motherfucker You know, there's something you know when I cut my hair and I walked through the Charlotte report Nobody knew what was I wanted to absolutely walk in the bathroom and kill myself. Hey, you know, you know, me walked on or hey, Rick, combing my hair and all that. Now I got the surfer Joe Erica. It's give me a break.
Starting point is 01:10:35 You know, I mean, Native Americans, it was a big thing to them to have their hair. They took each other's hair and captured one another. They would scalp one another. I started a trend with it. Yeah. And then they have some from Laura, but it's still a campaign I gave into them. Yeah. Man, it's funny because I've cut my hair before and it fucking hurt me.
Starting point is 01:10:55 Oh, I can't remember the girl in name Mary Rodley. She's like, you sure you want to do this? I said, no, I don't want to do it, but I almost have to keep my job. But man, I was in shock. That alone was a nervous breakdown. How hard was it to be like, I could imagine like, I don't have any children yet. I would like to have someone day, you know, and that's the greatest reward in the world.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Was it really the greatest reward in the world? Yes. Were you surprised that it was so rewarding? Did you think? Did you know, my problem is, it was the greatest thing in the world, but I didn't have time to spend with my older ones. My younger ones had more time to spend with. But my younger ones, I mean, I they lived in Minneapolis number one. And the NVA did not, that was eight W.A. So the NVA didn't even go to Minneapolis. So I only got to see them during the summer
Starting point is 01:11:53 and when they came for the summer, I'm traveling. Right. So I just had them travel with me. With some of that fun sometimes? Yeah, when we came to Florida for a week, yeah. Or we went to Portland for a week or came to Florida for a week, yeah, or we went to Portland for a week or went to Dallas for a week, you know, but a lot to do here with the kids, you know, Bush Gardens. Yeah, it was. I mean, I've been a Disney World and, and, um, Universal,
Starting point is 01:12:17 at least 50 times each one. Yeah, with both four sets of kids, with my four kids. Is it hard? Because you're a hero to sow, like you're an icon of people, you're a hero, you're this, you know, this thing that's larger than life, especially in the time when you were wrestling in your prime. And that was just the prime for like, if somebody was a star then, there was no way to, the only, they were, if television and their job labeled
Starting point is 01:12:50 them a star, they were a star. There was no, and there weren't that many stars, right? There were some, but there weren't a ton. But was it, like, I wonder if it would be hard as a child, if I'm looking at my father, if I would always feel like, man, how do I love my dad as much as these other people love him? Does that make any sense?
Starting point is 01:13:13 Yeah. Yeah, I think my older kids actually, because then understand what I was doing. I think they were very resentful for a while. But you know, it's just, where is he? You know, and all that's all they want. All they want your time and the time is what you don't have. Yeah. In my line of work, we go to travel. I mean, even the kids today are still traveling four days a week. Oh, what's fascinating, a lot of people who know about wrestlers is that they, there's all the times they aren't on television, they're still wrestling.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Oh, yeah. Different fights. They're still wrestling different matches. They're leaving, they're leaving for a two week tour of England and Italy. Yeah, leaving, uh, when next week. Yeah, I just wonder if that built up like what it would be like to, you didn't have a choice. So you couldn't wrestle less, really, right?
Starting point is 01:14:12 No, I had a chance to make a movie with the Ryan pictures. They wanted me to do a James Bond thing. So I think when I hear it was like, that's best. The guy was a big fan of mine. He came to the forum where wrestling out there, money offered me 250 grand. Wow. And I went back and then clock and said,
Starting point is 01:14:31 I have to drop the world championship and go for six months, but I don't know where you'll be when you get back. And I couldn't, they had been buffloaded. I should have gone and made the movie. You think back and I would have got right back. Sure, I would have gave it. But you don't, you know, it's come, you don't know.
Starting point is 01:14:47 And you, I think life forced you to make decisions based on what you know, not what you think you can be this. I mean, a lot of guys tried for every making Hollywood and three have made it. Yeah. But these have made it, John made made it and of course, Dwayne But I can tell you I'm in a roti paper spent his whole life But I was tired of that they live if there were just be movies. Yeah, you never got that crack And it's not good enough of talent. He just
Starting point is 01:15:18 It's bad for it political to it's so political Yeah, and now it's a lot of people's you's, there's also even nepotism in that business. There's nepotism in you guys' business kind of business. There are like, I guess there's a tradition of name in you guys' business. You know, because you have like dusty roads, dust and roads, you had the Von Erichs, you had, there's a lot of people whose children will also rest.
Starting point is 01:15:41 The flares? Yeah, your daughter is a wrestler, you both your son's wrestled Huh, well your youngest son wrestled your oldest son didn't wrestle my other son did read the rest of my dad He did he grew up on a yeah, yeah My youngest son's one the faster way. Yeah, yeah, you you would have been great Yeah, but my daughter I know no problem saying, is the best wrestler period female or me on the business today.
Starting point is 01:16:06 Yeah. She's badass. Yeah. Was there ever a thought, you guys ever get pets to do a match against each other? No, no, no. Yeah. What was it like when they had the ladies of wrestling back then? Because remember that?
Starting point is 01:16:20 Horrible. They put those names in there sometimes, you know? Yeah. And everybody looked like they were jat like angry jazz or size Yeah, yeah, no that didn't float It was it was a nice theory and concept but Did y'all to travel with those ladies? No, no, you never saw them. I saw lady wrestlers the old days But the totally different thing and they and they were badly
Starting point is 01:16:43 Managed and mistreated as the bitches were. I mean, the bitches got paid nothing. Really? It was terrible. That's why anything I could do to help transportation wise and that, or buy them drinks and food or that.
Starting point is 01:16:56 Or get them laid, get them a little. Yeah. Or that front wing. You lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay, you lay. Shit of length. And would he wear a cowboy hat? You're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age boy, you're an age fuck. They're either. Oh, you would you like him? Look at how well he.
Starting point is 01:17:28 Yeah, you're so pretty small. Dang. You got nice hair on him, huh? Yeah. You got all the way. Four ten four eleven. Four foot four foot. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:41 Yeah. I got a really. I was you show up to fuck it, four-foot, you got to really mean it. Yeah. Especially with a five-foot nine-jerk. Wow. How do you even, I mean, I don't even, God, I want to watch that, man. Yeah, like scale it a mountain. I would watch that, man, or at least I hanging up hang up your foot in the star on the Christmas tree. Yeah, I Have a friend that was with a one-legged mission and De Boyne I have a one day. I was that
Starting point is 01:18:18 Yeah, they didn't mention any names We had a little person we had a little person in our town and people would always try and get him to like tell him like that. People always thought he knew secrets and like magic and shit. People always like do some fucking magic and say shit like that. Who tell me about this? Say you're on a plane, right? The plane's full of cocaine, right?
Starting point is 01:18:41 It's going down. You don't do cocaine. But there's you gotta but there's one, and it's all wrestlers. Who's the guy that's gotta get in there and fucking? The only way to save the plane is somebody's gotta do all the cocaine. Who's the guy that could really fucking party?
Starting point is 01:18:56 I used to do a lot of cocaine. Oh, I used to call him John Wesley Hardin. You know, with John Wesley Hardin, supposedly the fastest gunslinger of all time. I've never seen anybody in my life, and this is a compliment. Yeah. To him as a person, a man,
Starting point is 01:19:13 I've never seen anybody that could run, and I'll take Keith Richards all day long, could run with Rodney Piper. Wow. The hot rod brother, He used to wear that shirt that said that. He has a best shirt of all time. How much rod can you take? That's it. That's it. My gimmick. I want that damn shirt out. How much rod can you take? God boy, I want that. Yeah. I'd love to. My God. I would love. I mean, I would turn eight ball
Starting point is 01:19:44 into a two ball four minutes. You have no idea. Really right. I can do it. That right. I wrote my book. He said, thinking I told the story. I was in the Dominican Republic. Wrestling Jack Fernando. We had a riot after the match. It's a riot. Oh, yeah, Jack Van A. No, because over there, the wrestling's, they, let's, I'm the first white guy to go to the islands, man. It was rough. No shit. What didn't they like?
Starting point is 01:20:15 Well, we did a finish where he had to sleep or what? We just finished old, right? Mm-hmm. It's a little guy, right? And the referee won, dropped my arm, to right and the bill rang right and it thought that he won and the guy went the hand to belt to me I'm laying there like we don't blood in all that and they thought what the fuck and they hit the ring. He fought ourselves all the way back, got back there and kind of took in the office he
Starting point is 01:20:43 gave me five grand and he gave body papers, put on full of cocaine got it took in the office. He gave me five grand and gave Roddy Piper a spatoon for the cocaine. It took us over to a horrors and dropped us off. He dropped you off. Roddy looked like Chevy Chase and trading places that align around his mouth. But that trading place is at movie with Chevy Chase. Oh, no, I like it. That's right. But that's right in places that movie with Chevy J's.
Starting point is 01:21:05 Oh, I like it. This car face is got nothing on my ride. Wow, man. He ended up doing stand-up comedy at the end of his career. Yeah. He doesn't. The most entertaining guy. Oh, he, Jimmy, he's funnier than I used to play in.
Starting point is 01:21:22 Dr. Donald Finn. I said, who's the guy that was married to Jenna McCarthy for a while? Oh Jim Carey. Yeah, Jim Carey. He's funnier than Jim Care. Wow. His feet was incredibly funny. Whitty.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Yeah. Well, it was a gimmick, a lot of gimmicks, you know, I mean, one thing about wrestling is staying creative, staying unique, especially like, as the wrestlers themselves, but also as the producers, the people putting it on. What was some gimmicks or a gimmick that fucking flopped and you were like, this is fucking unreal. Oh, God, too many.
Starting point is 01:21:57 Too many, too numerous, too many to pick, I just want. Yeah. It's, I guess the deal, they, would they have, probably have 100 kids, I'm not accurate or under-scaling, but between 80 and 100 kids in Orlando right now, at NXT, right? Mm-hm. If I'm looking at what I've seen in the last 10 years,
Starting point is 01:22:18 which my daughter's involved in the equation, in the last 10 years, my daughter, Sasha, Bailey, Becky, Roman, Seth, Dean, they're all made of vendors and still are. Yeah, that's hard. And once you get on top, it's hard. Stay on top. You don't realize, Mrs. has been around. Mrs. has been there 20 years. Yeah. We've earned out. Randy Orton has been there 22 years.
Starting point is 01:22:51 He's just 40 years old. Wow. You know what I mean? Yeah. And Randy is still on top. Randy is starting on top and on top. Cena had 20 years on top. It's hard.
Starting point is 01:23:01 It's in pot. But the percentage of people that come out of there, I would say is 1%. Hmm. That's hard. It's in pot. And then, but the percentage of people that come out of there, I would say is 1%. That's that hard. I went to a big recruiting thing this summer in LA at WrestleMania. And they had 100 kids, I think, in 10. They took 10. And they recruit legit college athletes
Starting point is 01:23:21 all over the country to attend. Flew them in, put them through the drills, physical drills, not the kind of like we used to, but still, let's see what they're made of. But most of his one athletes are, you know, I've got the 40th student now, and out of that 10, one right back in. Is that her? Is that her? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:42 Was there as many people trying when you were coming out? No, it was what the young, they did everything in the world to keep young guys away from it. Oh, yeah. Wow. So why was that? Because they didn't want to competition. So, you guys, the best example of all time, but Ricky's teamboat was, you know, not only a great wrestler, a great person, but when Steamboat came to Charlotte, they hated him.
Starting point is 01:24:10 He'd hand some young, great body, because that was back then to the bodies, because it started to become a big part of the business, especially in Vince's business. And you know, you woke everybody, it wasn't lifting lifting weights and nobody with his hands on him. You know, it was more about personalities
Starting point is 01:24:29 in a way. Yeah, I had a really fight for him to get him, to even get him going because he's a, oh, he'll never make it. Well, I'm gonna make you guys. So, hmm. Yes, I guess it was, and it's a real nice kid too,
Starting point is 01:24:44 which is not the kind of guy that's gonna be a prick and all right It's easy to be a prick and then say that's your way out You know, I mean the fuck that I want to do this. I don't want to do this anyway. Fuck you guys Like I get name 100 guys like that. Yeah, I don't want to do this anyway. Are you helping me back? That's the greatest line. How do you hold someone back? If you're not to promoter, how do you hold someone back? Yeah. You call them from order and say, this guy's an asshole. Well, good for motor is going to go fuck you. You guys got talent. If you can draw money, like Vince, look at all the shit with bitch off. He's still falling away to use them. Right. Right. And it worked. But how do you leave the company in a garbage truck?
Starting point is 01:25:30 He always gets in there. For the better garbage truck and roll off his last day at the government. Really? Yeah. Wow. Yeah, but he utilized it to make money. Yeah. Vince could forgive anything And there's a dollar to actually he's a business man business man. You're business first Wow, hey, hey, come out. You're gonna be with Hulk, right? So I asked Hulk so bitch off Hulk Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would go out on TV This is Hulk
Starting point is 01:26:04 And I used to think of myself, what, in the Hulk knows this, I used to go, man, this is just ain't cool. At Bishop, we got so mad at me because I wouldn't do it. And they'd be on TV and they'd say, we're gonna close you down, Vince.
Starting point is 01:26:17 We're sitting here, Tonya, because they beat him for 83 weeks. Right. Oh, beat him in the ratings? Yeah, for 83 weeks. Right. And then along came Stone Quilsey lost him. And then one day he went like this to Vince and guess what? 83 weeks are over.
Starting point is 01:26:30 Wow. And within two years, the company was bankrupt. Yeah. But he's forgiven Hulk. Hmm. And he forgave Kevin Scott off. McMahon did. Sure.
Starting point is 01:26:41 Yeah. He brought him all back. Yeah. And he was allowed to make money. Yeah, I mean Hulk Hogan and he helped to me Hulk Hogan is the biggest star. He in Austin Are the two biggest stars in his physical business? Okay, tell you a great story. I'm the end of the world champion. I'm traveling around the world doing everything
Starting point is 01:26:59 Hulk is in WWF right I come home many apples My dad goes I was going right now, I was going, going, I said, it's good. He said, all my friends are all cold and they're nowhere. Dad, I'm the fucking world champion. I'm for it, I'm for it. Hate you fucking old man.
Starting point is 01:27:20 I don't say this, your championship belt, I don't know if I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:27:31 I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:27:39 I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don? Because I've had four stolen. Oh, yeah. Funny how girls away got into the night, just walked off my Rolex. It's time to go. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:48 And they got to walk in. Or my main code. Yeah. Some lady fucking out. Some chick told me she was a professor at Northwestern University. I took her back to the hotel in Chicago. And my friend came in at four o'clock in the morning and she was going on her evolving door and my Rolex on her one of my make-coat
Starting point is 01:28:09 My friend grabbers, I don't think so To check what's the audition I thought she was a teacher and you go to the Western I guess They've all got a story. I will go for two and Baltimore. And I look for all my shit, and I have two girls married, right? So I go to the grab, I was like, okay, motherfucker, what am I talking about? You threw your Rolex in a bull's spaghetti. And then, I told him, yeah, 11 of them. I said, we're going to throw them along. You threw your Rolex in a boss spaghetti and then towards the 11th I said we're gonna throw them along. We don't do that
Starting point is 01:28:52 Don't freak with the inner rig and they around you get the Do you think people dreaded seeing it were you always like too much of a party for the scene? No, no people people love me. People love me. Yeah. I could find something I do. I'm loving tech is on the Sunday night, brother. That's hard to do. Yeah, somewhere. Somewhere. So they just need to start the conversation. And what was the real car? Who does? What was the name? No, sir, I'm sorry. And who does? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:23 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Who else could drink like that with you? Who could really? Oh God.
Starting point is 01:29:31 Name it. That endless AA, my keg stand, paper, a drinking guy. There's a lot of guys can really drink. Yeah. Did you ever try to stop drinking? I guess after your, after your, after that. I didn't drink for a year. You didn't drink for a year. And at one time I was taking steroids. Did you ever try to stop drinking? I guess after your, after your, after that. I didn't drink for a year.
Starting point is 01:29:46 You didn't drink for a year? And at one time I was taking steroids and I took an overdosed one and my heart went like this. And the guy said, you've been drinking too much. He thought I had cardiomyopathy. So I did an old duels for a year. That's not hard for me to quit drinking. It was hard.
Starting point is 01:30:03 It put me in rehab. I had no problem quit drinking. Did you hard. It probably had rehab. I don't know, problem quit drinking. Did you, how long were you in rehab for? 35 days. And where'd you go to? Placer in Tampa. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, Florida has fuller.
Starting point is 01:30:13 Every other building in Florida, the rehab. I had this one in the dump. It was a old, oh, shit. Like a old house. What do you mean, like a daisy in? No, not a daisy end, but La Quinta. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:27 Oh, La Quinta boy. Over here on Fowler, right? Yeah. So my roommate, my roommate's a doctor from Fort Lauderdale that's there for a digesting crystal meth anally. Oh yeah. That's one roommate. Now what exactly I have to do with me drinking?
Starting point is 01:30:44 The other one, the other one is the other guy is the 23 year old that was taking 40 milligrams of volume at 23 you don't think he would vibrate and the other guy I'm trying to think The other guy I don't know what they like to do, but I mean it was so far fetched and here's a deal I get there I go through all the physical and all that The other guy, I don't know what the hell he did, but I mean, it was so far afatched. And here's the deal. I get there, I go through all the physical and all that, get all the shit done right. The doctor checks me out. I wake up in the morning and I, when I was a kid, I was a smoke.
Starting point is 01:31:14 So I, I just loaded up a cigarette dip. I've always dipped my whole life. I've quit to wait and I don't dip anymore. What are you? You will again, though. Yeah. I might. Let's just ask you.
Starting point is 01:31:24 It's different. Oh, yeah, I don't like it, but I didn't do it anymore. You will again, though. I might. Let's just nasty. It's different. Oh, yeah, I don't like it, but I didn't do it. Yeah, but I look across the courtyard, I was smoking a marble, right? And I'm bringing a couple of coffee, and I said, I said, the guy in my roommate, I can't believe his name. So just like a doctor, he said, it's a doctor.
Starting point is 01:31:42 I said, what's he doing here? He said, you know, for five years? I said, the doctor is taking care of us and the patient. What? I couldn't believe it. So I walked up to the counselor. I told him, is that fucking guy? Did he have a license? No, they pulled it.
Starting point is 01:31:55 Well, how was he, how was he practicing medicine? He just said that house. I was in the fucking night house. I mean, I cried. I went, this is the night house. I was in the fucking night house. I Mean I cried. I went this is the nut house. I'm full of nuts When the doctors taking care of you give me a shot for scribe and medication He's and he's there for he's a five-year vet And he's a patient and he's a patient and he's taking care of me My god who wrote that script?
Starting point is 01:32:27 I told all, that's what I said to him. Oh, shit. Wow. Oh my God. Damn, right now. You're not allowed to talk to the girls, right? Okay. That's how they want you to take this test again.
Starting point is 01:32:39 What does this look like? A bear or a pungus conqueror? And I, it looks like you dumb fuck. Why you asking me the same question? We're looking at this box for three weeks, three weeks and not gonna change. I don't know what it looks like. What does it look like to you?
Starting point is 01:32:56 Why are you in here? Yeah, you're fucking in here too. Yeah, you think I'm lying? No shit. And did you all do any athletics in there? Did you all do like volleyball? Yeah, one guy told'm lying? No shit and did y'all do any athletics in there? Do you like volleyball? No, one guy told me I missed the morning walk and if we went to the big meeting I threatened to kill him. I said next time you stood on me a motherfucker. I'll find you before we get here Could have we had the thing anybody want to talk the circle? Oh the circle for you to be at it
Starting point is 01:33:22 God circle jerk God man. No, circle jerk. God, man. No, no shit. It was brutal. So you never, so you never got that kind of joke. We're so proud to give you the coin to do. I want to go out of the street. I'm like, why can't I do a bar put on the counter?
Starting point is 01:33:38 I said, you can have this to confront. It's a Rick Flair was here and give me six millilights and two Jack and Coke and two, kettle one and cranberry and lime. I'm like, I'm all right there. Then I had a little pick me up, take me with the beach. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:59 Oh, you gotta go for a swim after that. No, no, no, Jesus, I wasn't kidding. What was, was there ever any like, wow? You're not supposed to drink. Ha ha ha ha. Okay. Oh wow. That room, they faked me out with that for a while.
Starting point is 01:34:13 The company will know wherever you're back where you can be on the back of the rear. You say you go back, I'm huking back. Yeah. Well, company never used to go. Is that okay, fine. Two weeks later, you come up to TV. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 01:34:25 I thought it wasn't allowed to come anymore, you are. Ha ha ha ha. You think there was anything, was there a point where you really damaged your ability to go back, do you think, that you damaged it, not that they chose it? No, them, no, I always got along with them. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:40 No, that's one of the reasons I was successful. I always, I've always said yes. It's a different to me in in Hulk. He'll tell you. I said yes. Hulk said no. Yeah. Because I wanted to get along. I didn't give a fuck. Right. Because they gave me something to do. I just made it better. I'll do whatever they put me in that house. I like them. Okay. I am a nut. like I'm not. Okay, I am a nut. Did alcohol your son your your son had addiction issues? I've been recovery, right? So I've had addiction issues over the years. It's in my family. Yeah, it was heroin. It's not an addiction disease. Yeah, it's unbelievable. I've never I was in such denial. Unbelievably. When and as a parent, is it hard to notice when that's going on? Because I never been such denial, unbelievable. And as a parent, is it hard to notice
Starting point is 01:35:25 when that's going on? Because I never been a parent, like is it hard to notice? Like, you got, I think I noticed a little bit when I was in high school with a weed nap, but here's the thing, he was on life support four times. Okay, this would be a prior to dying.
Starting point is 01:35:42 And one time, one time when he came off the ventilator, his left leg was like gone. I mean, we had to send him a two, and that's it, Sierra Tucson. And from there to he went to Colorado, I mean, to climb to this facility that exercises to get his leg back and all that.
Starting point is 01:36:06 Oh, his leg shut down. That's like any money. That not shut down totally, buddy. It was bad. Yeah, any money used to huff so much gas that his leg shut down. Yeah, well then the next time the worst was his oxygen level went down to 42 for 24 hours.
Starting point is 01:36:23 That's supposed to be in like plus, 97 actually, 98. The thing that I put in your finger, right? Dr. Call of the minute says, if he wakes up, he's gonna be brain dead. So I'm just, I'm preparing you. I swear to God, because I'm sitting here in front of you. He woke up. The whole family was there. We thought it was, you know, we all came,
Starting point is 01:36:48 everybody came from around the country. It's good to, because we thought it was not that right there. He woke up. He was completely fucking normal. Wow. Nothing wrong. Did it shock you guys? The doctor looked at me, it shocked him.
Starting point is 01:37:02 He sat down. He said, I've never seen it like this in my life. I'm happy for you and I'm sorry that I gave you that No, no, no, I'm glad you did Because then we went sat down and figured out auto attack it again Well, this is after the leg thing Man, he's a fighter, huh? Yeah, you can't but I mean to this day when you go to the doctor and you above If you if you're oxygen at 42 year, you're not supposed to be functioning. Yeah, you can't even whistle, dude.
Starting point is 01:37:31 Yeah. And he woke up, he was completely fine. Pfft. He's a tough kid. And I went, I went, my God, this is God to be, you know, like, this will be the wake up call. Yeah, and so I took him to Tokyo, and I got him playing, he And I got I got a plan to go back other criminals and let me tell you they put Paul McCartney and Jail here for smoking and joint
Starting point is 01:37:53 They will bury you You get a very strict in Tokyo. You don't fuck around like you do here with with drugs You're drugs in Tokyo are singing for us. I something like that. Yeah. In a world of shit. Man, he came back home to go to WrestleMania to see his daughter, see my daughter, and let him on my site, went to buy tennis shoes, came back, went through Delphurus Colis, to watch NCAA. He wasn't drinking or anything. Vodal Pills followed by. So Wendy picks up the pills, took it away. Didn't even tell him I had it, right? So he wants to go back to the hotel. Go ahead. So Wendy, what me and says, I'm not gonna read your door to get
Starting point is 01:38:50 Like aspirin or not telling or something that right to the head and He didn't answer the door. So I went right back, right? This is like, all in 45 minutes, right? Yeah, you're at Delphur's, because you hear that, you head back. I opened it or, he's like this. To sit in a chair? No, sit on the floor. Okay.
Starting point is 01:39:15 So I didn't see any needles. Mm-hmm. So I thought, oh my god, he's just, I've seen him like a thousand times. So I said, do I call the police? The same thing, the same thing? I said, no, I'm going to put them in bed. But could we were so lucky didn't make a news because the cops kept it loaded down a DL formula. They put them in rooms and under a different name and
Starting point is 01:39:38 you know, they helped me. They were understanding. Yes. Great guys. They pulled them out of the car one time and called me. I mean, so I had to really great rapport with them. So I just said, I'll just let them, I said, but this time I said, I'm gonna let them bottom out. I mean, that's, they keep that word bottom out, you know, yeah, I just couldn't imagine being dying in an alley somewhere because I don't even bottom out. I mean, how would I ever get over that? To really harm. So I wake up in the morning and go out
Starting point is 01:40:11 and call me with my oldest daughter, come back and I just said, fuck, I'm so fucking mad at him right now. I'm like, I open the fucking door, just to check on him with you. I just, I even walked out and halfway, it said shit. I'm just gonna check on him. I can't let him with you. I just, I even walked out and halfway, said shit. I'm just gonna check on him. I can't those leave him.
Starting point is 01:40:26 Or I can even purplish him, call the cops, same to, same crew, same exact people, same paramedics. Boom. And the guy said, Rick, he was saying the same thing and said, I was standing outside. He came out in three minutes and said, he didn't make it. I said, what? He said he didn't make it this time, Rick. Man, I've told this story a hundred times,
Starting point is 01:40:55 but I got in. It still killed me. I started drinking from 10 in the morning. I like I got there 930, got another bartenders, well they were setting up 930 in the morning till 2am for 5 I can hear I just couldn't believe it. Say if you don't go drink right then what why do you think you had to go to like just I don't It's the only way you get away from it. Didn't they drugs? like just I don't only get away from it. Didn't they drugs? I didn't get away from the feeling that you're responsible for not calling. I should have called.
Starting point is 01:41:37 It's hard. It's I'm sure it's really hard to be the parent of someone that has, you know, an addiction. What did you learn about addiction like watching your son? Like, was it anything that you were able to learn about like watching it from, you know, an addiction, what did you learn about addiction like watching your son? Like, was it anything that you were able to learn about like watching it from, you know? Yeah, don't be in denial. I'm worse than Fritz Van Erick. Fritz was a non-nail of the boys. He would not believe that they were getting high, that they were screwed up all the time. He was in the dial. Oh, it's just you guys are just imagine it. Carry through the disc is 210 feet at Houston. I mean, you know, you know, big deep voice. Yeah. The boys are fine. They're just growing up and having a little fun, smoking a little weed. They're more than that.
Starting point is 01:42:24 But. Do you think addiction to runs in y'all's family? Well, I don't know your other children Smoking a little weed. I'm more than that. But Do you think addiction just runs in y'alls family? Well, I don't know your other children do they suffer from it? No, no, no, no. I don't know how I got it. I mean, it's heartbreaking to witness. I've lost a lot of friends from addiction and it is heartbreaking to watch, you know So I can only imagine what it's like. What was your son like like what kind of what kind of guy was he the greatest kid in the world Fun handsome I mean, I don't talk about somebody was he was a lady killer man
Starting point is 01:42:59 I live he lived with me for a while Lower Africa I divorced the last time and he He would he would call me and say, yeah, we had to do my favor. And I said, what's happening to me? We talked to this girl's friend while I was, God. We run, we, wingman for me? No, we are.
Starting point is 01:43:18 Yeah. He used to bring somebody to get her out. I'll watch TV, but get the friend out of here. I can't even have a conversation with her. No, Jesus Christ. Did you have to really talk to some great friends? I'd say something, this is, this is, if you can find humor in this,
Starting point is 01:43:39 as I'm standing up there, let's say there are 1500 people at the funeral, maybe 2000, huge shirts and Charlotte, whatever it helped. And there were 20 girls in the first two roles I didn't know. Damn. I would take them down to South Carolina, the Columbia, to go to the Gamecock game. I said, I'm leaving them on one eighth or anything like that. You come home with a different girl drive home the next day, every day. Like father like son, he was the master man. Yeah. Yeah. And he's
Starting point is 01:44:16 Do you think he felt like it was tough to live? I mean, I just wonder what it's like if your dad is so such a you has had such a unique life, you know. Do you, I wonder if you do feel competitive? Do you feel, or it's just life, that's just life. I think I say it just life, because the other kids don't affect it like that at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:35 Ashy, ashy, ashy, I can imagine maybe once in a life some of the cigarette when she was 10 years old, or 20, I mean, nothing, nothing. And she's around a lot. I mean, it's not as problem as it was, which is a big difference. Thank God. What drugs aren't as prevalent now? No, there is probably not where the guy can just grab me.
Starting point is 01:44:57 They're more aware. Yeah. For some reason, thank God, everybody's aware of the fact that this shit is dangerous. Yes. And we didn't have time to think about it back then. Yeah. The guys didn't even make you look bigger, but kept you up longer. But at least they have three days off.
Starting point is 01:45:16 We didn't have days off. As Hulk. The Hulk was on, it wasn't just me. Hulk was out 72 days at a time. Wow. It's a long time to be away from home. Oh, I can't imagine. Yeah, you come on people look different. We're saying it ever happened with an event and cell phone so your guy damn wife would call you. Jesus That song get rocked
Starting point is 01:45:39 And uh, Cheryl crossing a live and a slow head Different girl every night at the hotel. Yeah. Woo-hoo. Yeah. Here's the call to run desks. Anybody calls me? I ain't.
Starting point is 01:45:56 Yeah. Hey, my friend. I am an helios. My friend Larry. Larry. I was a botonia. There's a comedian. There's a comedian named Larry Reeb. He used to have this joke. One of my favorite jokes he said. My wife said never answer the phone during
Starting point is 01:46:12 sex. I said, what if it's you calling? Oh, I love that one, man. Did any strange woman ever show back up at your house so that had a freaking scary? Oh god, you kidding me? You throw up the driveway. I have no idea who you are. What do you mean? You promised me last night.
Starting point is 01:46:35 I didn't promise you shit. Now my kids and all of my wife in the front yard never admit you're wrong. What happened? Nothing. I found black hair in the carpet in here. Well, I said, what are you talking about? It's something a dog, I don't have this dog over here.
Starting point is 01:46:52 This is you and hair. Hey, like, who'd you have here? Nobody. Somebody had a dog with 11 inch hair over here. You're like, I think it was a long hair chow. Yeah, what are we going to do? You know, oh, man, we all have you. I'll call them, please. You told me you feel you love did. What? What about the product, man? So this is new.
Starting point is 01:47:30 Rick Flair. I like it, man. It makes you feel good. It does. It would rank enough to get. Well, you did. I'm almost done. I'm a little hurt.
Starting point is 01:47:39 Oh, you're all fucking a lurbera. Yeah. I can't believe you did a camera on too. Dude, I'll have another can, dude. Hell yeah, it almost makes you feel erect a little. Wow. What's the toughest thing about getting older, Rhett? I get older.
Starting point is 01:47:59 Yeah, what's been like one thing that surprised you that you didn't think would be that certain way or something that's been kind of interesting? You know, it's interesting for me, my dad was 70 when I was born. So it's all like even just getting to sit around a man who's 70 or, right? And being the president, it's just,
Starting point is 01:48:15 you know, it's almost like, I don't know, it's just interesting for me. You know, I never got to spend a bunch of time talking with my dad and stuff. So even to be able to have a conversation as an adult with a guy in his 70s kind of like resonates with me in like a special place, I think. What's, yeah, what's been interesting about just being older, like what's, or what's been surprising about getting older? What, what do you think would not be one way or maybe would be different?
Starting point is 01:48:36 Um, I don't know. I don't think I even ever thought about anything like that until I got sick. Then you really appreciate, you appreciate when you recover from something like that. I mean, airplane graduates, one thing, getting that with lightning was something else, but when you literally, on a life support, and you almost die. And then you realize that for some reason, you're lucky enough to be, and I truly believe that he makes every decision. He's going to give you another shot. I spend so much time preoccupied with trying to figure out how not to fuck up. Really? Yeah, because I love to fuck up. Yeah. I mean, I love to have fun. I don't mean I don't mean fuck up
Starting point is 01:49:26 Right. I don't want to hurt anybody. Right, but how do I how do I have fun in not getting trouble? Well, well, it's just a typical social media. You can't do anything Yeah, and I love to go out and I like I never drink in my house You know, there's not one drop out of my house. Hmm. I'm a social drinker That's purely me. Yeah. So, and I just go out every night. You know, people don't understand when you've spent 38 years on the road.
Starting point is 01:49:54 Like Kevin said, any one time, if I don't spend two nights in a hotel every week, I'm lost. Hmm. No, I mean, I, when I took that year off and be sure of suit me. Yeah. And I went home. I hadn't been home. I hadn't been home and didn't even know my wife. Christ my mother
Starting point is 01:50:13 all lived there. Now we had two maids. I didn't even know it. But the defense day time breaking. Yeah. 3 o'clock in the country club. Sometimes one. Wow. What are you to the country club? I'm not playing cards. I'm drinking. Yeah. And talking to the bartender. She's nice looking. Wow. I'm playing poker with my liver. That's what I'm playing. It's pasta night. Send the kids up. Dude, I remember my dad used to take us to the bar and they'd
Starting point is 01:50:43 have like that bowl of fucking peanuts. Oh, I know. And fucking man, it was so much fun, dude. And that's when bars didn't even have TVs in. I remember that. That I can't deal with. No TV, no bar, no meat. These days you gotta have the TV with the sports on.
Starting point is 01:50:59 I love in diaphragm sports. But you remember when they didn't have no... Yeah, you wanna know something? Yeah. I never knew this is the guy's island, I'm so embarrassed. I didn't know what prime, Netflix, Hulu, I didn't know what that was until,
Starting point is 01:51:18 until I got sick. I didn't know how to Google myself. Yeah. I didn't know what Google was. All I did was drive travel, wrestle, and have fun. I Didn't know anything. I'm still not computer literary. She showed me that today I work at Moji on my phone. Oh, I mean, I'm and then when I'm laying in the chair
Starting point is 01:51:52 Home for the hospital. I didn't ever be in a rehab for a month learn how to walk. I didn't know that I had a stoma One day one day I'm sitting there. I'm home in the house and The girl coming to set down I'm here to change her bag And I said my name is your first day. But for the whole state, no, this thing. Oh, I told, yeah. Yeah, and I go, and I said, I said, I didn't, well, on rehab, could I go and walk or anything? Oh, and they're there, and I had forgotten.
Starting point is 01:52:21 I didn't know, I didn't know how to stolen, and rehab, for the whole time you're in rehab. Yeah, I didn't know it for 31 days Then I got home and the woman's there to change it Wow That's all for that then you were out of it then you appreciate life Yeah, was it hard to go back to well then were you shocked that you just after that 30 after the days and rehab that you went back to drinking? Is it scared like is it bad for you to drink that 30, after the days and rehab that you went back to drinking? Is it scary? Is it bad for you to drink if, like, is it,
Starting point is 01:52:47 did the doctors say don't drink? Did they? I mean, also the doctor was in the facility, so. Oh, they said don't drink, of course they did. Okay. But here's a deal. Yeah. So being a formal family, a medical family,
Starting point is 01:53:03 I went, I didn't get one second opinion, I got 30. Okay. Every time I met a doctor, didn't know anything about your internal, I'd had prior surgeries in 2015, and it's one million times that you can nick your intestine and it can burst you out. Mm.
Starting point is 01:53:28 And that wasn't that one million. So now when I drink my kidney levels, everything's perfect. Am I, my kidney levels are also a bit, the doctor tells me, drinking more water. So now I drink, for every drink, I drink a small bottle of water. Nice. You got a plan now.
Starting point is 01:53:44 You got a plan. What do you think God put you on earth for? Do you think about that sometimes? It seems like you do. Hmm. I didn't know, but I'm sure trying to mend my ways. I'm a wild, I was a wild soul, man. I still am.
Starting point is 01:54:01 I'm harmless, but I was. Oh, I'm harmless. Harmless. But wild. I'm harmless, but I was harmless. But wow. I've been neutered as always. With nurses, it did not sign the waiver. I wonder how many of them run around on that. Everybody alone.
Starting point is 01:54:18 We don't, we don't. What wrestler had that real hammer on them? I mean, no home over. What wrestler really had that freaking wand on him Oh, you know, I don't remember somebody had that launcher And you've been around some of the biggest men in the world. Yeah, I know I'm trying to think I Mean, hey, what about hastak, baby. Well, I want to do his act on I mean, he's a haste. What about haste, baby? Well, I only knew he's acting all along.
Starting point is 01:54:45 He might have that need along. Yeah, I got the name, but I don't want to put it in there. Yeah, no, no sweat. Yeah, yeah, I got it. No, it's, you know, I don't even have to know. Yeah, I've got it with, I, because I, he's married with kids. I, I, I, I, I, look, I'm just glad somebody's got a big one. Well, I, I tease his wife, I think. No, look, I'm just glad somebody's got a big one.
Starting point is 01:55:05 I tease his wife all the time. No. Yeah, when you see one of those joust victims like his wife, that's gotta be unreal. Yeah, but she wouldn't make me make it a joke. No, I don't think, I don't think we should, or my son's gonna get it out of here. There's something to be,
Starting point is 01:55:17 just the front page out of the whole interview, Reclores and the hammer. Oh, I remember. But there's something about you. Because most of your life you get to know your own ween. And then every now and then somebody walks across with some real crazy ween or you're like, my God.
Starting point is 01:55:35 That guy's fucking running a different ballgame. That guy's in a different line of work. A different genetic. That guy's in a different line of work. Boys, any other questions that you had? There's anything? Yeah, that's right. I'd be hydrated, man. We'd have been so good. What do you mean you dehydrated for it? No, I was fixated. I weighed 218. I was in better shape than I was in 2008. I mean, I was up there. I woke up where I went right out of John Cena's trainer, 500 free squats, running a mile, and I
Starting point is 01:56:12 hate running. This is two years ago. You're a gold July. Wow. You're a gold July. And I mean, I got, I had 10 weeks to get in shape for it and I was doing everything up. I mean, I had a partner and I drove a truck going on the Rob. John Cena's guy in front of Land Lakes. I mean, but I was fixated on my guy down the 218, but I was cosmetic of a nightmare anyway, so I was going cosmetic of a nightmare anyway, so I was gonna wear a shirt, but I woke up in the morning and of course I was drinking the night before at the palm of the Holtzman in Nashville, and I loved that bar.
Starting point is 01:56:53 Yes, nice. And then I saw Bobby, you know, one night. So Bobby Rock, Kid Rock? Yeah. Yeah. You came to the match. Oh, yeah. You walk in my dressing room and you went, I've been, you came to the match. Oh, yeah, he walked about dressing room and when I'm
Starting point is 01:57:06 I've been entertaining you for a long time I want you to I came to watch you entertain me tonight. Then we all went to his place afterwards. Yeah Yeah, they got to get a bathroom on these four little man good good. That's a good point man Jesus Christ. I fucking that that, five four climb downstairs, one stall, when they got 2000 people, it's all over the place. Oh God. It makes me want to get one of those stonemabats. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:34 Yeah. Well, no, don't waste with that. But anyway, so I already had to cup the coffee and three, eight, eight, eight, eight, eight. I didn't drink any water or anything. And I got out there and I felt great and all that. And then I realized the anxiety and I made a mistake of saying to one of the guys, I don't feel good. Of course, now they think I'm having an heart attack. Yeah. Or I just said, I don't'm full. I got lightheaded. I actually fell asleep on the apron.
Starting point is 01:58:08 I was standing, right? Really? Yeah, yeah. And the guy had to go, Rick, Rick, Rick, when I got back in, and then I did something else, and I'm laying there. And at the end,
Starting point is 01:58:20 I met Manny, my son and I was going, you have to wake up sir after wake up sir He was handing me the brass knucks to hit Jarrett with right so He put the brass knock on my hand You you have to wake up sir up to wake up sir But you know when I get I get I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I got I I got I got I got I got I got slower, I get I get I got whacked myself way too early. And then because everybody was panicking and To end it, right? I had faked I got with having a hard day. I go, ah Just to get a one-to-one everybody as a slow down motherfucker this week. We can do this. I mean, I can make it
Starting point is 01:59:07 Just listen to me, but you know what everybody's first of all, I appreciate that we're scared of death, I was gonna die, okay? But I wanted the match to be better, because we'd rehearsed it to be a 20 minute unbelievable. They're supposed to suplex me off the top rope and all kinds of shit. But anyway, that's what makes me want to do it again, because I got such a good shape. And it's like I'm a really goal oriented. Like now my new goal is like, I'll be 75 right. So in
Starting point is 01:59:34 February, so I want to bench press 225 five times. And I want to do either 500 free squats in 14 minutes again. That's a lot. That's a lot. Yeah. It's very doable, but you have to do it. No. No, that might be one of the best quotes I've ever heard. It's very doable, but you have to do it. Yeah, I used to be able to do what I was reading bestshaking my life.
Starting point is 02:00:03 I used to take a deck of cards. Joker's been 20 face card of a aces. A aces gain green on 110, right? So flip the card right. 10 crunches, 10 pushups, 10 free squats. Next one, Joker 20. Wow. I could do all that. It's 457 of each in 30 minutes. That's hard. Because getting up and down for the free squats and the pushups, 447 pushups. This fucking hard. Yeah. Jesus. That's a lot. Yeah. That's okay. I couldn't do that for the last match, but I am in my... In your prime?
Starting point is 02:00:49 In my... Well, trying to... You know when you're traveling, these shit towns, right? They don't even have a YMCA. Oh, yeah. Some of these small towns. So I just had an hotel room and
Starting point is 02:00:58 I had to figure it out a way to kill the day. So there's other enemies. What's... Who's somebody you miss wrestling? Who do I miss wrestling? Yeah. Like who was the biggest and missful wrestling is a camaraderie. God, when you just know who personally like is a person you met.
Starting point is 02:01:14 You're like, man, we really, it was just a real. Oh, I miss Iron the most probably. He just lost his son too. To addiction or no. I'm not sure what it was,, he just lost his son too. To addiction or no? I'm not sure what it was, but he is a horrible thing. Yeah. I just had, I traveled so many, I forgot, I traveled with Sean and Hunter.
Starting point is 02:01:38 I love hanging out with Undertaker and I don't get to see him very often. I love Steve Austin. I hardly get to see Steve. Steve, Steve just, you know, keeps himself basically isolation. You know, undertaker came out to a show, mine a week and a half ago, two weeks ago in Austin. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:55 It was really nice to meet him in Michelle. That's his wife. Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, beautiful. They just, they just, they just adopted a beautiful little baby. Oh, really? Yeah. I want to know that.
Starting point is 02:02:04 Yeah, they're great couple. They were so kind. Yeah, he's a great guy. That was cool. Um, who did, was it, did you ever get to meet Madonna? No, but Dennis Rodman did it. Dennis is my man. Is he?
Starting point is 02:02:19 How do you, how, how in the hell do you cheat on Madonna for a common electric? I go, I mean, electric? I go I mean Dennis I said Dennis Dennis you realize that I would walk on fire to lay on top of that and You brought she you caught her. I think Madonna is incredible. Oh, yeah when she was younger What that song or hers like a virgin like a virgin Jesus dance that out. Which a heartbeat next to, I'll tell you this story Rick. So I'm at my grandparents, right dude?
Starting point is 02:02:52 And they wouldn't let us watch wrestling or nothing, dude, because they were fucking, you know, they wanted the Lord to find us. And so I would go on the Lord's day. That's my mother-in-law. I say to my wife, they're drinking again out by the pool. And on the Lord's Day, kiss my ass, Mary Ann. The Lord's Day.
Starting point is 02:03:18 Every day's the Lord's Day. Especially you free-loader living off me. That's the bottom line free loader. Yeah And a large day shit of mama shouldn't be That would make a guy drink. Yeah, I probably started it. Jesus Christ Con we have to pack the beer cans up, me and Iron Raiden,
Starting point is 02:03:47 to tell stories laugh all day long. I went across the street, I met my grandparents, so I go across the street, there's nothing to do. They live in, they were in a small town in Illinois and Wyoming, Illinois, so I go across the street and there's a park there. In some girl, I never had known her anything. She had a transistor radio, she plugged it in and tuned it to like a virgin, right?
Starting point is 02:04:08 And she starts dancing on this picnic table for me. And I'd never met her anything. I'm just like, I'm like probably nine or 10. I walked into the park. And I was just wondering what big stars came out to see you got like what? Like, I was trying to think of some of the big stars then That were like some of the biggest in the world and who you would across pass with that would have been surprising Not that many I'm in
Starting point is 02:04:39 I'll tell you like I'd adore Chris ever it, right? Yeah, so I'm flying to Japan and I'm sitting this far from Chris ever she's wearing a yellow And I'm sitting in this far from Chris ever she's wearing a yellow Polo shirt, right? Gold Rolex This is an 80s smoking hot right God and I mean and Not a word Yeah, I'm like I'll go over and shoot myself and die right and She didn't give you a sign. Nothing, zero.
Starting point is 02:05:05 Zero, double owes. Love it, I flew back with Yvonne Lendel and he wouldn't stop talking. Oh, God. Jesus Christ, we can't, you can't, you want, get a drink, calm down. Yes, wrestling is fake, okay. Now I don't know, fucker.
Starting point is 02:05:21 Can we move forward? I live next door to Vincent Mann, good for you buddy. Dude, I sat next to Eddie Money one time. Yeah. He told me he was used to huff gas, right? And so one of his legs shut down and he'd workin'. And then he started showing me semi-newed pictures of his newest wife.
Starting point is 02:05:37 Okay, it's pretty cool. Yeah. I can't get my wife doing that. Yeah. Well, no, she is like, uh-uh. You got respect, you know. What if I want to show you this, Rick? So I have an alternate personality.
Starting point is 02:05:56 It's a wrestler, right? And it's called the Rat King. Baby, so I just want to show you one of my promos. Let me know what you think. Okay. And this isn't you, Rick. It's a good one. what do your thoughts on that? Racking you think you're better than the regular folk Rick.
