Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Emily, Henley, and Sammy, and you're listening to Too Scary, Didn't Watch. Hi everyone, welcome to Too Scary, Didn't Watch, February bonus episode one of two. It's This is Emily. This is Henley. It's This is Sammy here. I was really trying to
Starting point is 00:00:39 I was listening about this earlier and was like, how do they introduce themselves on Game of Roses? And I knew this is so I was at It this earlier. I was like, how do they introduce themselves on Game of Roses? And I knew this is, but I, so I was at It's and then I heard this is Badge of the Clues and I was like, damn it. This is Emily. Anyways. A quick, a quick course correct.
Starting point is 00:00:55 A quick course correct. Nobody even noticed. Nobody noticed. We're all good. I recovered really well. Yeah. Freaking bonus episode. Number one of two. Number recovered really well. Yeah. Freaking bonus episode. Number one of two.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Number one of two. We had you guys help us choose our bonus episodes for February and wanted to do another deep dive into a subgenre. And so first you helped us pick what subgenre and we settled on demons. Pretty close with pretty close with ghosts, though. Ghosts and demons seems to be what you guys are interested in. I mean, demons are good. Demons are different from ghosts, which we have learned.
Starting point is 00:01:38 They're different. We have learned after listening to the episode of the history of horror eli roth's history of horror which is on shutter.com um shutter.com.com did you watch it on a computer i watched it on it's available on television as well shutter.com i did watch it on my laptop it's like netflix.com. It's available on Netflix.com. Hulu.com. www.netflix.com. Remember when we used to say that? The World Wide Web. America Online. America Online. And dang, I gotta say, you guys, I did not enjoy having to watch this episode. I did it because I love you both so much. And you know. And you love our Tony heads. And I love our freaking Tony heads of course.
Starting point is 00:02:27 But good God. There was a lot of demon content in this episode. I was not a fan. Primarily demon content. Yeah. What demons do to a person is bad. And we knew this. But it's not fun to look at.
Starting point is 00:02:43 It's not fun to look at. It's fun doing demons and slashers back to back because those are the two that like scare me the most and i just keep going back and forth like which one is scarier and i can't decide they're both scary i wouldn't want to be a participant and then and either no i wouldn't want to be a participant in either. I think for me, I would have said that Slasher is scarier because it feels more realistic. Slasher could be just another human man, always a man, who is just a serial killer. And that always scares me the most, what could actually happen. And I've always said from the beginning of this
Starting point is 00:03:25 podcast i don't believe in demons which is really just me tempting a demon to come and haunt me tempting but there is something about watching the actual clips from the demon movies that i found scarier than watching the clips from the slasher movies yeah it hit home a little bit more this time around yeah supernatural shit is fucking scary as heck i mean if if demons were real definitely scarier scarier yes and so i think when you're in the experience of watching a movie and it's like totally enveloped you that's why i keep going back to demons are scarier because it's fucking scary but then you can take a take a breath and be like oh they're not real they're not real they're so gross and rude too on top of everything else they're just like fucking
Starting point is 00:04:16 rude and yeah nasty and mean they're bad it's just that. They're not polite. Slashers are so polite. They walk so slowly. They have very contained body movements. Man, demons. I guess it's like slashers. I'm like, OK, those serial killers are like sociopaths, right? They don't have to kill necessarily, but like they sort of do. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:42 They're sociopaths are like they're driven to. It's their desire. Demons choose to fuck with you like they sort of do right they're sociopaths or like they're driven to it's their desire demons choose to fuck with you like for fun they're evil they're they are literal evil yes they are they they are evil that's what they are and i don't care for it just to circle back real quick on whether demons are real or not i do feel like i need to shout out the fact that in this episode it opens with a real brief clip of an interview with a Reverend Elliot Davies, who is an Anglican Episcopal priest. And he says, and I quote, demons are real. And then fully and like, so matter of fact, like people like to think that they're not because they don't want to see the whole picture. But like, they're fact like people like to think that they're not because they don't want to see the whole picture but like they're definitely real
Starting point is 00:05:26 it's like demons are real there's so much more that meets the human eye and it was like wait are you guys going to circle back to that guy because they don't come back to him at all and I'm like I want to hear they never do I want to hear more from
Starting point is 00:05:42 this priest who seems to know from personal experience. Like so confidently being like, yeah, no, they're real. Just a reminder to anybody listening, the difference between a ghost and a demon is that a ghost. Did we already say this? No, not on this episode. No, we just mentioned that there is a difference. Yeah. Well, here it is guys the difference is a ghost is um
Starting point is 00:06:07 a like a dead person the spirit of a person who has died a human who has died um that is either you know has unfinished business caught between planes of existence a demon is a non-human entity that literally just comes to do evil things. Either, you know, they're sent by Satan, they come from hell. Sometimes they're sent by Satan. They can attach themselves to
Starting point is 00:06:38 a person, meaning that they're not tied to a location. You could move around that demon will come with you. Yeah, that's another key difference is that I feel like ghosts are usually tied to a location. Like if this is where the ghost, the person died, then the ghost haunts that house and a demon can attach to a person and follow them place to place. So moving, as we've seen in many of the movies that we've recapped doesn't make a difference can't escape a demon that's also what makes them so scary is that there's no there's no escaping it there's nowhere you can go unless god's on your side unless god's on your
Starting point is 00:07:18 side but even like dying doesn't you can't escape the demon you know even if you died you would still be like taken to hell or whatever so yeah it's very scary what would you guys do what would you guys do if someone you knew or you became possessed by a demon i guess it doesn't work if you get possessed because you're kind of don't have a lot of options at that point but like what are the steps you know how do you get in touch with the demonologist? Do you just like Yelp demonologist? I think so at this point. Yeah. Yeah. I go incognito mode and I Yelp.com demonologist.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Because you don't want people to know. It's not that I don't want people to know. I don't want demons to know. You gotta be careful with that. They can't see you on incognito mode. No, it's incognito mode no it's incognito mode henley that's how it works of course of course um yeah i guess it's that or like try and contact a priest a priest i'm gonna i'd go demonologist i think it's got demon in the
Starting point is 00:08:21 name okay yeah you don't want to go for more of a specialist for sure. A priest has a backup plan for sure. Yeah. I'm not saying no to a priest. If I find one, maybe, maybe it's just getting this guy, Elliot Davies on speed dial,
Starting point is 00:08:36 the priest from the episode. We got to find his contact info. I found his LinkedIn. Send him a message on LinkedIn. Listeners. We have his information on LinkedIn. Listeners, we have his information on LinkedIn. If you or somebody you know becomes possessed by a demon,
Starting point is 00:08:51 this guy definitely believes in them. We can message him on LinkedIn for you. We can message him. We'll connect you. So we've got that. Don't forget the incognito mode. Just in case. Just in case. To hear the rest of this episode where we talk about the egregious actors' rights issues in The Exorcist
Starting point is 00:09:13 and revisit all those gallons and gallons of fluids from the evil dead that Emily and Henley have now seen with their own eyes, you can head over to our Patreon and join Tony fucking Collette's inner circle.
