Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Emily, Henley, and Sammy, and you're listening to Too Scary, Didn't Watch. Hi everyone, welcome to Too Scary, Didn't Watch, June bonus episode number two, super special Sammy's birthday bonus episode number two super special Sammy's birthday bonus episode and you know what that means Tony heads it means we're talking about my favorite movie of all time not a horror movie get ready for a change
Starting point is 00:00:42 of tone we're talking about the fucking matrix baby that's talking about the fucking Matrix, baby. That's right. Oh, baby. The fucking Matrix. I couldn't be more excited. I am beside myself. This is incredible.
Starting point is 00:00:52 What a dream. Truly, this is an absolute dream. I've seen this movie a fair amount, but rewatching it last night, I just, again, I was like, this is an excellent film it's just excellent every time every re-watch it's fucking incredible it honestly truly it might be the best movie ever i as i was re-watching it i had just watched it like three weeks ago and then i was like i can't fucking wait to watch it again and i'm like i it might be the it might be the best movie ever it like really might.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I had written down that one question I wanted to ask you guys is why isn't this your favorite movie of all time? Watching it, I don't know how it couldn't be anybody's favorite movie of all time. And listeners, if you fucking hate this movie, don't you dare to. Don't you dare turn this off. Don't you dare turn this off. That too. Let us convince you. No, honestly, I think I think the reason it isn't for me is that I only watched it for the first time a couple years ago.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Yeah, it doesn't have the nostalgic factor. I had tried to watch it in high school and I gave up at the point where the thing goes in his stomach. I think the first kind of scary part. And I just was, I just wasn't ready for what this movie is. And then I watched it as an adult and was like, this fucking rules. And then I watched it three weeks ago and was like,
Starting point is 00:02:16 this is the best movie ever made. And then I watched it again last night. And today I was like, this is the best movie ever made. So it, it honestly, I just, I don't know that I,
Starting point is 00:02:25 you know, I have a hard time with favorite movies, but it's fucking it's top five without question. I mean, I just see me. I don't understand how you can say that the Matrix is a better movie than forgetting Sarah Marshall. Famously Henley's favorite movie. Yeah, I mean, there's an argument to be made
Starting point is 00:02:42 for forgetting Sarah Marshall. Just the cinematography, the mean, there's an argument to be made for forgetting Sarah Maxwell. Just the cinematography, the technique, the boundaries that were broken. No, honestly, I don't have an answer to actually what my favorite movie of all time is. And there's, sure, The Matrix. Like, fine. and I there's sure the Matrix like fine like honestly after last night I and I watched I watched a few behind the scenes videos
Starting point is 00:03:11 on YouTube and that also that also really got me because I mean the amount of work that was put in to create this film in 1999 incredible and honestly it still looks so fucking good and cool it is so fucking good and cool. It is still so good and cool.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I will say, we've talked about this. You've never seen two and three, Sammy, right? That is correct. I never have either. I walked out of number two in theaters. It was the most mad I ever was. It is criminal how bad they are. So I hear.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I haven't seen them. I think that I will watch them before number four. That's what I was going to suggest to you. That's what Joel and I just decided. We're going to have to do it. And so if you would like to join us on this journey, I think what we just have to do is like obviously we know they're bad and just make it like
Starting point is 00:03:57 a fun night. We'll fucking order dominoes. We'll be like, we're going to watch two and three. It's going to suck, but we're preparing for four, which hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, hopefully hopefully hopefully will be good please be good please please um i'm hopeful and it's just gonna be me too but so we just because there's apparently there's gonna be like characters and four that are from like i think we just have we're gonna need to know the lore yeah so let's fucking do it this wait the fourth comes out in december i can't believe it's that soon. Wait, have I told
Starting point is 00:04:25 you guys? Have I told you guys that I actually saw The Matrix 2 in theaters and I saw it with my dad and there's a very intense sex scene in it and it was traumatizing. Oh no. Was it just you and your dad? Just me and my dad. That's not good. This like kind of makes it better, but also worse. My dad is such a freak that he actually was reading a book in the theaters with a reading light. Wow. Oh, no. While watching the movie. And so first of all, I was mortified that that was even happening because I was like, this goes against all the rules.
Starting point is 00:05:03 All the rules of seeing a movie in a movie theater like go pick you up after like he's clearly doesn't want to watch the movie I you know I I can't explain my dad to you I have no idea that's fair I have no idea you don't have to and you shouldn't be expected to I think we were just killing time I think we were like waiting for something else to happen and we were just killing time and we were like, okay, I guess. But when did The Matrix 2 come out? What year was that?
Starting point is 00:05:30 Does anyone know? Early 2000s. Yeah, it was a couple years later. Two-ish or something. So I was like 12 and there was a very like erotic sex scene in it. Is it between Neo and Trinity? Because if so, I want to watch too. I don't even remember who it's between. It must be between Neo and Trinity? Because if so, I want to watch too. I don't even remember who it's between.
Starting point is 00:05:46 It must be between Neo and Trinity, though. I think it is. I think it is. I think that's right. Yeah, I think it is. All I remember is it starts with like a 15 minute rave scene, like a dance party and fucking Zion and all the people in Zion just dancing for fucking 15 minutes. That's right, we haven't even seen Zion.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And I was like, I'm out. Maybe I'll be into it now. Doesn't sound as bad. Is that when you watched it? I tried to watch it like a month ago and gave up. So I don't know, but we'll see. Might be a group situation. Yeah, I think it just needs to be an event. It needs to be like, we're
Starting point is 00:06:20 doing the Bad Matrix movies. Let's have fun. Yeah. Can you tell us a little bit about your history with it? When the first time you saw it, how many times you've seen it estimated those kinds of things? Yes. Okay. So I saw it in theaters. I must I would have been
Starting point is 00:06:35 I believe 10. Wow. That is early. I loved it even then. I think I saw it multiple times in theaters. Wow. That is a really cool thing for a 10-year-old to do. Yeah, you're a fucking cool 10-year-old. I really loved it.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I'm sure I didn't understand any of it, but I was just like, yeah. I mean, fair. She was very pumped on it. And I had it on VHS. I had it on DVD as I was queuing it up to watch it last night I got nervous because I have actually never watched it streaming and it in my brain is like a movie that I have on DVD and so I was like
Starting point is 00:07:13 how am I going to watch it now that I don't have a DVD player and I will say as an adult I go and see it anytime it's playing on a big screen so I haven't watched it streaming, but I've seen it at Cinespia in the, in the cemetery.
Starting point is 00:07:30 They do movies in the cemetery in summertime. And I've seen, I saw it at the arc light, RIP. And so I'll see it anytime I can on a big screen. And then anytime I meet someone who hasn't seen it, I like to watch it with people who have never seen it. In general I like watching
Starting point is 00:07:48 movies that I love with people who haven't seen them and The Matrix is one of those that it's like if you haven't seen it we're fucking watching it. Buckle up. We're putting it on right now. Okay. Should we talk about it? Give us some info on The Matrix. Let's talk about Matrix. Let's talk about it.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Let's talk about it. This is the best thing we've ever done. I'm so happy.
