Starting point is 00:01:33 I'm Mike from torontomike.com and joining me for the 27th Pandemic Friday is Stu Stone and Cam Gordon. Hi, Mike.
Starting point is 00:01:46 I was going to say we just hit the half-year mark, but I guess that was last week. 52 weeks a year. Your math is excellent. Correct. We're in the second half of the pandemic year. Six months we've done this? Over six months. And those case numbers.
Starting point is 00:02:00 And our bank accounts. We're looking better. Both going way up. Yeah. Anyway, good to be here, as always. Stu Shanatova. Yes, that was very well said. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Look at you. Yes, happy Jew year to you as well. Yes. And to Kim. And this is a happy time. This is your new year. It's New Year's. Yes, it's New Year's.
Starting point is 00:02:18 It's the new year. So you dip some apples in honey and you wish for a sweet new year. And people always say, wish you a happy and healthy new year. I think this year more than ever, we're hoping for happiness and health, healthiness for everybody as we go through and navigate through these
Starting point is 00:02:33 troubled waters of the pandemic. I will say that Cam, when he got here today, when he had those glasses on, which I hope you take a picture of, like his Joe Biden look, the leather jacket and the aviators. Mean business, yeah. Looks good, man. Looking good. Thank you. I like the fall fashion, for sure. Well, earlier I said he looked like George Michael,
Starting point is 00:02:53 and you said more Andrew Ridgely. Yeah. But both handsome men. Joe Biden and Andrew Ridgely? Looking esteemed, yet rugged. Like Indiana Jones on an off day. Like I'm here to do business, as we all are. I would say that I think this is
Starting point is 00:03:09 autumn is Cam's season. Yes. He's autumn. Yeah, right now he's definitely, he's got a fall jacket. I'm still dressed like it's summer. Got my jean machine. Got my nice sneakers on. Those are clean. Yeah, yeah, fresh. Now this is, well, I know, okay, so we're not going to disclose what day it is.
Starting point is 00:03:29 I'm going to try to drop this before TMLX 6. That's all I'm going to say. We're at an undisclosed location. There is no, if you're looking for the Periscope feed. The basement of a synagogue. You never know. We could be anywhere right now in the world. If you're looking for the Periscope feed, because a lot of people watch us on Periscope,
Starting point is 00:03:46 you will not find it. Unless you go to Cam's OnlyFans. It will be exclusively posted. There's a nominal fee for that one. There's a paywall. But it is dropping on, we are dropping this episode just before TMLX6. Yes, congratulations on that.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Was it successful? I feel like I'm talking to Stu from the future. How did it go? I think it went pretty good. Did you show up at TMLX? I was not there. I was there from a distance, like the Bette Midler song says. From a distance.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I was watching, and it looked very pleasant. The attendance seemed to be right. Did we get the over or the under on 19.5? I thought someone dropped like 24.5, which seemed kind of ambitious. But the joke there, that was a joke, I think. Pandemic rules are 25 now. So because I had, I'll tell you the truth, some real talk here. I had Stephen Del Duca on the program, leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Wow, that's a big get. Doug caught wind of that, Doug Ford. And then he said, oh, there's a TMLX6 on Friday? He's like, Friday. That's real talk, is it? He's like, well, we'll make sure it isn't, you know, because hundreds were going to come out. Well, I would say the timing of this is, I don't know. It's not a private wedding.
Starting point is 00:04:58 You might get dozens. Well, I got to be careful. Like if I get three dozen, I'm going to, the plan is like if there's a. That's not happening. I'm going to divide it into two different get three dozen, the plan is... That's not happening. I'm going to divide it into two different events. This is a plan that will never happen. What is an event? I'm going to go with a baker's dozen.
Starting point is 00:05:12 The line has been adjusted from 19.5 to 13.5. This man knows gambling. I'm taking the over on that then. I'm taking the over. Is it fair to say neither of you two gentlemen are at TML? Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. I need to exchange a car with my partners. I figured Ken would sign some autos,
Starting point is 00:05:27 take some Polaroids. Yeah, I have some glossies. If I can't even get you two, who we've spent... It's tough to get you two. I mean, that's a pretty big get. Maybe aim a little lower. Yeah, I mean, like,
Starting point is 00:05:37 wasn't Helix playing there last summer? Striper? Striper, Kim Mitchell. That's Sam Smith Park. Marie Curtis Park. Can I give a 10- second anecdote about Harold Ballard? Yeah, I would love it. Anyway, my mom was once on an airplane with Harold Ballard.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Where did this come from? No, it's about when you talk about glossies. Okay. You know, just started talking to him. You know, this was the Yolanda era. She just passed away. Yeah. And just like randomly out of his bag,
Starting point is 00:06:03 he just pulled out a glossy photo of himself and just started signing it. Did not ask my mom if she wanted a glossy photo of Harold Ballard and hand it over. That's worth like 1700 now. I would totally want that, yeah, if I had it. And you know who put the dirt on his coffin? That was Andrew Stokely.
Starting point is 00:06:22 No, that's a good guess. So this is at Park Lawn Cemetery. Rick Five? Molly Johns, Molly Johns. It's an FOT No, that's a good guess. Okay. So this is at Park Lawn Cemetery. Rick Five? Molly Johns. Molly Johns. It's an FOTM. That's your clue. Oh, so it's not.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Jeff Merrick. Okay. So Jeff Merrick put the dirt on the casket that belonged to Harold Ballard. I was going to say something inappropriate. In the Park Lawn Cemetery. That's a true story. Yes, that's right. So that's real talk.
Starting point is 00:06:42 That's real talk. And he also worked for a short while at Great Lakes Brewery. Did he really? Yeah. Jeff Merrick was buddies with. There's a Humberside Collective that includes a guy named Mike Lackey and the owner, Peter Bullitt. The Bullitt family owns Great Lakes and they're all like a Humberside Collective.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And he was in that collective. Well, remember that other guy named Mike who worked at Twitter Canada when you came in and he knew all the Great Lakes people? That sounds like Mike right there. He sounded like he sort of knew about the owners and stuff. So, like, yeah. Oh, well, it's just... Oh, you're going to make noise?
Starting point is 00:07:20 That's good. Oh, okay. Because if you have to, yeah, we only need an hour, but it's okay if you have to do that. Yeah, bring the noise. Okay, thanks for letting me know, though. Turn it up! So that's Bojana, who
Starting point is 00:07:35 lives a couple of doors down. And she's going to mow my neighbor's lawn. She's mowing the neighbor's lawn? Yeah, that's the kind of person Bojana is. She's very giving. Oh, it is loud. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Should we stop her? No, I think let it go. Yeah. Let it go. I mean, these are the sounds of autumn, Mike, right here. Well, now you've given away our location. We are at a... We're two doors down from Mike's house at his neighbor's house.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Bojana can work a mower there I did give away our location Should we make away some lemonade? I was trying to be so clever and discreet And she blew it Her outfit is quite revealing for this temperature So okay I apologize for the ambient noise Hopefully we outlasted her
Starting point is 00:08:22 But you're right, autumn is here, right? The leaves are changing color That's a leaf blower you're hearing. So that's a very good segue. I mean, like all the leaves are brown. The skies are gray. No spoilers, brother. So, real talk. Stu Stone. Yes. Before I get to the obvious questions about the new movie, I'll get to it in a moment.
Starting point is 00:08:38 But real talk. The answer is no. You never liked the topic today. Yeah, what's your beef with this? Yeah, talk to us, because Cam and I love it. I actually paid Bujana to sabotage this episode, because I knew it would be, you know, we're jumping into a pit of dead leaves here.
Starting point is 00:08:56 You know, I just... There's not a lot of options here, so it's like... Oh, not like Yacht Rock. Yacht Rock, there's like 100 songs. Autumn songs, there's literally like 16 songs, and we pick 15 of them. The universe of autumn songs is similar. People just don't write autumn songs. There's not a lot out there.
Starting point is 00:09:15 So maybe that's something that future musicians who are listening to should write some autumn songs, because there's not a lot. There's plenty of winter songs. There's lots of summer songs. A few spring songs. Not too much autumn. There's like, winter songs. There's lots of summer songs. A few spring songs. Not too much autumn. There's like, you know, a couple. There's a baker's dozen.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Well, somehow we came up with five songs each. Yeah, I got real obvious hacking choices. The funny thing is, I came up with five right away. Cam came up with five, none of which I had. But then when Stu gave me his five, like half of them, like two of them were taken by Cam. Another was taken by me. That's because there's not a lot out there
Starting point is 00:09:46 is my point. Bujana sent in two. Mower by the band Superchug. You know, I don't stand by all my picks. There's even some repeats of stuff we've heard in the last six months
Starting point is 00:09:56 on the show, but new anecdotes. Well, that's nothing new for you. New anecdotes. I like this topic because it's topical. Like, when is the official
Starting point is 00:10:03 first day of fall? Is it on the 20th? Isn't it the 20th? I think it's like this. It's like Tuesday or something. Okay, because it's topical. When is the official first day of fall? Is it on the 20th? Isn't it the 20th? Do anyone do that homework? It's like Tuesday or something. Okay, so it's coming up really soon. Remember, the cover of Everything I Long For by Hayden, he's mowing the lawn.
Starting point is 00:10:14 Just like Bojana. Bojana. I think Bojana was properly recreating that cover for us. You need the Rivers Air Force version of Beach Boys Marcella, but like Bojana. Just like Bo or something. Oh, Bojana. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:10:31 So it is... Bojana. Oh, Bojana. Mr. Bojana. Bojana. Bo knows. Bo knows Boeing. Oh, yo, Bo knows this
Starting point is 00:10:42 and Bojana knows that. So much, yeah. Bojana knows. So... Bo knows. So fall this and Bojana mows that. Bojana mows. So fall is coming. Yes. By the way, do you find it pretentious to say autumn? Should we be saying fall? I've heard this.
Starting point is 00:10:53 I like autumn. It's like New England, like prep school type word or something. Because I feel the working man is not calling it autumn. It feels a little bit elitist. I feel like fall you get into a bit of who's on first, just because it's such a common word. Autumn is unique. Stu, what do you prefer, autumn or fall?
Starting point is 00:11:14 I prefer spring and summer. But if I had to pick, fall would be my third favorite season. Spring and summer and fall. Autumn, fall. I mean, it goes either way. Tomato, tomato, in my opinion. If someone says autumn,
Starting point is 00:11:29 I know what they mean and if they say fall, I also know what they mean. You don't judge. Maybe I'm like, oh, I don't really talk about fall or autumn so I don't have a preference and I don't like the music.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Maybe he doesn't like the season. No, I don't mind the season. Football's back. You know, it's... Back to school. Do you like when the leaves change color? Sure. And yeah, and again... I just don't like winter and it's's back. You know, it's... Back to school. Do you like when the leaves change color?
Starting point is 00:11:45 Sure. And yeah, and again... I just don't like winter. And it's just a sign that winter is coming. And it's just... Winter is coming. Although, like, post-season baseball is always... Hopefully the Jays will be there if they, you know...
Starting point is 00:11:57 Hopefully they gave up all of the runs they're going to give up this last week. That was something, right? 40-something runs over three days. That's tough to do, actually. Ouchy. So, autumn is... Yeah, I know. I'm just talking long enough
Starting point is 00:12:09 to get through the lawn mowing. But autumn is coming. Our topic today is autumn jams. We each have five. Now, Stew Stone, for weeks now, we've been teasing
Starting point is 00:12:20 that you have a new movie coming out. A real tease. I've been watching your videos. The vlogs. Yes, tell me about the vlogs and how Great Lakes made its appearance.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Because I had a question from Troy at Great Lakes. He wanted to know, he was asking, what's that about or something like that. Oh, maybe he didn't realize that you had given me those Great Lakes. Well, I told him. I said, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:39 you should listen to Toronto Mic because Stu is on every week and he had some octopus wants to fight. But tell us about the teasers and officially give us the name of the new movie. Okay. Well, there's been a series of vlogs that we put up sort of wetting people's whistle for what is to come for our new film, The Butler Did It, which comes out October the 14th on Hollywood Suite. Wait, what day is that? October the 14th. Yeah, so that's a date on the Hollywood Suite. Wait, what day is that? October the 14th.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Yeah, so that's a date on the Hollywood Suite. Yep. And the trailer is going to be out on Monday or Tuesday of next week. And then it's open season. Okay, so we cannot give the name of this thing until the trailer comes out. Well, I mean, we can, but if you waited this long, you may as well wait. Okay, my beef is I find it annoying. Well, I apologize.
Starting point is 00:13:23 You're the one that keeps bringing it up like the audience would forget. Because I'm trying to help you sell tickets or whatever. I think that this audience that are friends of Stew Stone, the Fosses out there, they know October 14th is coming, and they're patiently waiting for a title. I will say that the Great Lakes beer did make an appearance in one of our vlogs. We had sort of a celebratory moment, and it was an appropriate time to bust out a couple of tall boys. Octopus wants to fight.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Yeah, and we drank it, we gave a little plug, and Great Lakes is definitely product place throughout the new movie. Wow. More reason to tune in to The Butler Did It. And Cam, what do you think about this ever long tease? Well, I've said this before. With all due respect, I understand your frustration. I'm
Starting point is 00:14:13 putting on my PR hat. This man here has been in show business for... close to 40 years. Yes. Right. Since the Robin Hood clarity. Yeah, we were saying when I pulled up, you and I are just like, we're just schmucks who watch a lot of TV and read a lot of newspapers, grew up and listened to a lot of fan, where
Starting point is 00:14:32 Stu was like living and breathing it. Oh, yeah. He's a real deal. Although his methods seem a bit unorthodox, I'd be remiss to question, because I don't know that world. So, and he's done very well for himself. And like, you know. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Who am I to question the great Stu Stone? Is that what you're saying? Yeah, and the flicks are great. I've been, you know, I've personally been to three of his premieres, always a good time. This year there probably won't be one, which is sad.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Probably not. Because of this COVID, it doesn't sound like it. So in a normal year, let's say there's no pandemic. In a normal year, we would have a premiere, there'd be a couple hundred people there.
Starting point is 00:14:59 You would be there, Mike. Oh, my God. Oh, yeah. I feel, I would offer passes to friends of the show, listeners, I would be able to. Then you would, listeners. I would be able to... Then you would probably come to TMLX6 to give a read.
Starting point is 00:15:08 I would do a contest at TMLX6. Like, you would meet all this cast of characters that Stu and I talk about from our high school days. We can introduce you. But DJ Farbsy would probably be there. He'd probably be spinning on the ones and twos. Yeah, my mom. Carrie would be there. Would DJ Lethal be there?
Starting point is 00:15:22 Probably doesn't do a fly-in for the Toronto screening, but... Colt Cabana? No, he won't be there. Would DJ Lethal be there? Probably doesn't do a fly-in for the Toronto screening. Colt Cabana? No, he won't be there. But listen, hopefully there'll be more movies so that we can have that experience. What about Balthazar Getty? Would he be there? No, no, not Balthazar. But I'm saying that if all things go well and the fans and listeners of this program
Starting point is 00:15:41 are supportive of the film, it doesn't take a lot for me to achieve success. The bar is pretty low here. So if the movie comes up on Hollywood Suite on the 14th and a couple hundred people from this show happen to order the channel for the free preview to watch the movie, if they can cancel it after that,
Starting point is 00:15:58 if they want, I don't know. Good pro tip. But it would definitely look good on us and perfect. Bougie is done with the, good job there, looks good. And the movie comes out October 14th. The Butler did it, tentative working title. But next week we'll talk about the real title.
Starting point is 00:16:17 The cat will be out of the bag. I promise, Mike. The teasing is over. The foreplay is over. We will be flogging next week. I don't want to swear in front of Bojana. No, she knows what's up. Your super fan, Cam Brio.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Yes. He desperately wants me to ask you about something. I'm going to play this now. Oh, wait. He sent an audio clip? Well, he sent a YouTube clip, and I made it an audio clip. So, yeah. Here it is.
Starting point is 00:16:44 It's got a little bumper music at the beginning here. I guess I could edit it if that helps. Is this a work or a shoot? Is this for real? Samantha gets out with Reel TV Films. I'm here with Stu Stone. Stu's got, like, a ton of different talents. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:55 He's an actor, a musician. Right now, he's got something called Save the Gingers. Save the Gingers. He's going to tell us about. But this guy was also at, like, you know, name it, Donnie Darko, blowing up on MTV with Jamie Kennedy Tell me about save the ginger I do want to talk about this. It's a very serious problem Sam. Now. I know you're a brunette
Starting point is 00:17:17 So you don't really have to worry about this problem. Oh my god Gingers it's come out scientists have have said that the ginger, the gene that gingers have, that redheads have, it's a dying gene. It's a dying breed. They say within 100 years there will be no more redheads. Redheads are dying. That's like a, men love redheads. So I have been hired by the Save the Gingers Foundation to launch a campaign
Starting point is 00:17:40 which encourages people who are not gingers like yourself and myself to go out and find a ginger and mate with them you know to get the population of gingers keep it from dying. Hold on, it encourages people to go and mate with redheads? Yes, but for the most part that the main message that I'm trying to convey is that we need to save the gingers. If you go onto YouTube and you search save the gingers you will see my instructional video, which I release, which is also available on iTunes. It's called Save the Gingers,
Starting point is 00:18:09 and it's an instructional how-to sort of guide on how one would be able to save the gingers. So I'm Stu Stone, and that's what you need to look for. Save the gingers. Stu Stone, we're so excited to see you come out of the warm. So tell us, what the hell are we listening to? I had launched a campaign. This is maybe 10 years ago.
Starting point is 00:18:30 I forgot about that. See, these things don't go away and die like these. That sounds problematic without seeing the visuals. Not at all. There's nothing problematic about it. You can consensually make a redhead cam. Shut his mic off. Consensual adult sex is all good.
Starting point is 00:18:44 I'm talking about the Sky Vodka Company was releasing a new... This is the real talk. Sky Vodka was putting out a ginger-flavored drink. And so it was a pitch. There was a pitch to get involved and run a marketing campaign online. I had some success with other viral videos
Starting point is 00:19:04 like Circle Circle Dot Dot and Bob Saget and some other stuff that were huge that were at the time considered really big viral sort of hits. And so you were financially compensated by a vodka company to to talk about the good word. They wanted something kind of funny and humorous. So I made a rap song. We made like a fake, not a fake. We made a video, a real video. So there's a rap song out there. is there's a video it's really funny there's a a video on youtube that you could watch that's it's pretty funny wow but uh okay you know so that we heard what year was that from probably 2010 okay wow so this was sort of before like the big influencer boom on social media yeah so this
Starting point is 00:19:42 is when i would have been i would have been leaned on as like a new kind of... Stu was the original influencer. Well, they were like, well, we want to try to do things online. Who do we talk to? And I was like on that short list of people that had... You were in Donnie Darko. Well, that interview happened to be at a party
Starting point is 00:19:56 that someone was interviewing people at. That wasn't an official event. That was sort of a tongue-in-cheek sort of, hey, Stu, why don't you go talk about what you're doing? And then I just went with it. But the Save the Gingers video is pretty funny. It's kind of silly, but it's funny.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Dig that up, and we'll play that next week. One thing I'll say is that we're going to do autumn songs. That is the topic, and I'm excited. We did redhead songs. Save the Gingers could have been it. Stu's less excited, but it's going to be great. We have Redhead songs. Save the gingers could have been it. Stu's less excited, but it's going to be great. But we have a lot, like we have no shortage of topics to get us through this pandemic
Starting point is 00:20:30 because we finally got our shit together and we started sharing a spreadsheet and putting all our ideas in the spreadsheet. We're now taking suggestions and we vote on it basically. So we're going to, everything that all three of us have approved, and I will point out, we didn't all approve today's topic. So today is like the last time. The last bastion. Two of us approved today.
Starting point is 00:20:50 I thought you said those were two out of three pickety ghosts. Then I changed, when I saw so many, when I saw so many unanimous choices, I decided we'll drain the unanimous choices first before I go to any of these. There's some fantastic choices in there. I'm excited. So, yeah. So we have a lot of great topics coming up. So, you know, this pandemic is just getting started. I'm looking forward to the episode called Jewish or Not,
Starting point is 00:21:13 where we play artists that we thought were Jewish but aren't. Okay. I'll be good at this. Like Bruce Springsteen. He's not Jewish. Well, spoiler, you're ruining the episode. Okay. That would be great because I understand every member of KISS is Jewish.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Well, every current member possibly, yeah. Yeah, I think that sounds right. And the Ramones were all Jewish. Were they? Beastie Boys? Joe Strummer was Jewish. And, of course, the Watchmen are all Jewish. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:21:40 Yeah, Davey. Oh, so maybe they actually like sell watches? Like that's what they meant? I don't know if I'm allowed to laugh at these jokes. Okay. I was going to say Neil Diamond, but that's... Barbara Streisand. No way.
Starting point is 00:21:52 I've got a great sense of smell. So lots to uncover. I don't think that's a real topic, but we'll put it in the spreadsheet. It's not a real topic. But in the light of Jewish New Year, I'm allowed to make these kind of kibitzing and humorous type of jabs, but Happy New Year
Starting point is 00:22:09 and welcome autumn with this great topic. And if you're still listening to the show and you haven't turned it off after Cam's Harold Ballard story. I was going to say, we've got fucking Henny Youngman doing his borscht build. Take my wife, please. So, a great beverage. I take my wife out. I'll have beverages, and I can say this because, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:27 I will have cold beverages at TMLX6 tonight in Marie Curtis Park. Cold arms, cold legs. Right. Now, a great beverage for fall, for autumn, if you will, is they have the pumpkin ale they just put out. Sure, yeah. Pumpkin ale. Just picked some up the other day.
Starting point is 00:22:42 So get your pumpkin ale from Great Lakes Brewery. Do so, yeah. It's really the beer for the season. So get your pumpkin ale, just pick some up the other day. So get your pumpkin ale from Great Lakes Brewery. It's really the beer for the season. So get your pumpkin ale. I saw in your video you had the Octopus Wants to Fight. That's year-round. You can still get it. But support Great Lakes. Tell them you love their sponsorship of Toronto Mike.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Then go, and this is what you're going to do. Then you go to Palma Pasta and you buy some authentic Italian food and you say thank you for supporting Toronto Mike. And then you go to StickerU.com and you get some authentic Italian food and you say thank you for supporting Toronto Mic'd. And then you go to stickeru.com and you get some stickers and such. And then you say thank you for... You're giving people a lot of stuff to do here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Thank you for supporting Toronto Mic'd. And you go to pumpkinsafterdark.com. Pumpkinsafterdark.com. Use the promo code MICED, M-I-K-E-D. That saves you 10%. And honestly, this will save Halloween for your kids or your grandkids. Like this is the,
Starting point is 00:23:27 you gotta save Halloween. The number we hit 400 cases. Okay. Uh, Halloween's going to be dramatically different and we can save it, uh, safely by buying tickets at pumpkins after dark.com. What if someone's like trying to buy a house in Mimico?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Honestly, I think you both should move to this neck of the woods just because it's a long commute for you. You've got to talk to Austin Keitner at the Keitner Group. You just text Toronto Mike to 59559. Say, Mike suggested I talk to you. I'm looking to buy and or sell the next six months. I'm literally moving in the other direction in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Do you get kickback for people who say that? Do you get some action? Not currently. You should. You should renegotiate because you get kickback for people who say that? Do you get some action? Not currently. You should. You should renegotiate because you're posting photos for sale. Like if I go on your blog and I buy one of those houses, you should get a piece of that action. I was going to say, are you monetizing that? And that would be a lot more money.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Even if you took a half of a half of a percent, you're still a couple thousand bucks. That one Mimico home, it's like two and a half million bucks. If someone buys that through your click-through, that's worth something. Dude, you're right. Honestly, I'm going to talk to them. I'll be texting Toronto Mike to 59559.
Starting point is 00:24:32 You've got that malware problem on your website. Clear it up now. You're good to go. Well, I'm all good. And the reason is because I outsource my IT to CDN Technologies. Wow, good one, Cam. I didn't even see that one coming. You're going to be like a chess match.
Starting point is 00:24:47 You're going to be two moves ahead there. So always contact Barb. Again, if you're an email person. Oh, Barb, right, right, right. Barb Paluskiewicz. Barb Paluskiewicz. You can call her at 905. 905.
Starting point is 00:24:59 I always think Patrick's got life insurance. 905-542-818. No, not 8. Beachfront Avenue. Hollywood Hills. Okay, so it is 905-542-9759. That's how you get a hold of Barb, a writer at barbatcdntechnologies.com.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And if you want your lawn mowed quickly, quickly. I mean, this lady was- She can't hear me, right? Can I say? I think she's way over there. She's about 84 years old. She did that lawn in like five minutes. And it's not even her house.
Starting point is 00:25:33 She doesn't even look a day. That's not her house. She doesn't look a day over 81. I got to say, because I'm out biking all winter and I can tell you, she's the only neighbor I have who I see out and about all winter long. She's unbelievable. She's climbing on a ladder to go I see out and about all winter long. She's unbelievable. She's climbing on a ladder to go clean like someone's. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Yeah. She's unbelievable. If you ever wanted to know the answer. She's my role model. If you ever wanted to know the answer to the question, who wears short shorts? She's literally climbing a ladder right now. Of all the days. Can you see this?
Starting point is 00:26:00 She's climbing up a ladder by herself. Of all the days not to have a periscope feed. This is the wrong day. I'm not lying. He's not even kidding. No, that's not a joke. Sue doesn't do jokes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Good for her. Gentlemen, it is autumn almost, and we're going to kick off the fall brawl. Would you interrupt recording to help her? Of course I would. This man has four children. I'm not a monster. My pet monster. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:29 In Magic School Bus, My Pet Monster, Donnie Dargo. Save the gingers. Babar? Babar. Babar. I love Babar.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Babar. The raccoons. Raccoons. Yeah, keep going. Edison Twins. Edison Twins, yes. Something with Cynthia Dale. I'm trying to do... Heavenly Bodies. At some point, I'll be able to do the entire... Wayne and Schuster. Oh, my God. Edison Twins. Edison Twins, yes. Something with Cynthia Dale. I'm trying to do...
Starting point is 00:26:45 Heavenly Bodies. At some point, I'll be able to do the entire... Wayne and Schuster. Oh, my God. That's right. He played the kids. The A&W root beer commercials. Those were kind of popular for a little while.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Kraft Dinner. Kraft Dinner. That's a famous one. The Little Green Sprout. Oh, my God. You're the Little Green Sprout. We've talked about that, I think. I know.
Starting point is 00:26:59 It's fun to play in exciting places. Which one was that? Was that you? Yes. Okay. That was like a safety one. Oh, it's Burton Gertz. Stay alert, stay safe.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Wow. Don't you put it in your mouth. Teddy Bear's Christmas. Before I kick out the first jam, Cam, this is for you. Do you ever feel like we're unworthy to be in his car? No. I've said this many times. Again, you and I are just guys who grew up reading the Tron Star, listening to Fan 590.
Starting point is 00:27:26 We're just guys. We're just guys. I grew up reading the Toronto Sun and listening to 1050. We're like the Derek Fisher of the outfield here. Totally. Meanwhile, Stu's still here. I'm like Derek Fisher of the NBA. Right. Right, that's right.
Starting point is 00:27:38 You know, underappreciated, but still can hit that clutch shot. It's a borderline Hall of Famer, is he not? Derek Fisher? He's a champ. Not a Hall of Famer, but he's a champ. He's a role player. Yeah. That's a borderline Hall of Famer. Is he not? Derek Fisher? He's a champ. Not a Hall of Famer. He's a role player. Yeah. That's a lot of rings. Was it you last week
Starting point is 00:27:48 or two weeks ago who said Kyle Lowry was a Hall of Famer? Yeah, I think we're Who was the guy who was on the Lakers in Houston and won like six rings?
Starting point is 00:27:57 Oh, yeah. Starts with a C. Yeah, he won a bunch of rings. Cliff Robinson? No, no, no. No, RIP. Yeah. Anyway, that guy. That guy. Charlie Villanueva? No. I know exactly who you're talking about. Cliff Robinson? No, no, no. He just passed away. RIP. Yeah. Anyway, that guy.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Charlie Villanueva? No. I know exactly who you're talking about. And he was like, you're always like the fifth. Yeah. But that guy gets mentioned. Should that guy be in the Hall of Fame? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:13 And the answer is no. No. No. I mean, no. God, what is that guy? Okay. I need to look this up. But yeah, let's kick out.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And again, I can see his face. I just can't pull the name out because, you know, it's like he won with Hakeem and then went to like the Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Oh, Robert Ori? Yes. Robert Ori. Thank you. He's good. He should be.
Starting point is 00:28:31 He made some clutch shots. But he's not a Hall of Famer. He could be if he's got all those rings. Well, you know. That's not enough. You know it's like that. He wasn't a bench player. He was a real player.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Yeah, but you can't. Oh, because you got rings as a starter doesn't make you a Hall of Famer. Listen, sometimes guys do things that don't show up on the stat sheet. got rings as a starter doesn't make you a Hall of Famer. Sometimes guys do things that don't show up on the stat sheet. But you know who's going to be the next version of this? Manu Ginobili. He's not a Hall of Famer. Yeah, but a lot of guys think he should
Starting point is 00:28:55 because he's got what? Four rings? Oh, Ginobili from... He's a Hall of Famer, yeah, for sure. But he was always like a sixth guy. No, no, he was a stud. Yeah, no, he was awesome, but he's a Hall of Famer. Yeah, for sure. But he was always like a sixth guy. No, no. He was a stud. Yeah, no. He was awesome, but he's a Hall of Famer. We're not talking about Turkoglu here.
Starting point is 00:29:08 This is Ginobili. He was a big part of those championships. Like Turkoglu was a real prick, at least during his Raptors time, I must say. Dumb question. Kukoc is not in the Hall of Famer. He should be. Well, that gets into like kind of his entire body of work. Internationally, for a guy to come to the NBA
Starting point is 00:29:26 From there He had to be the best Okay Yeah Anyway let's get underway We can debate this all day long But I'm gonna kick it It's like Drake
Starting point is 00:29:32 Like in order for Drake To make it in rap music He had to be the best Because he had to overcome Being Canadian The fact that he was A. Canadian B. Undegrassy
Starting point is 00:29:41 C. Jewish Well sure that too But my point is Is this guy had to over... Third base was Jewish. He had all sorts of stuff that would prevent him from becoming a success. And a lot of people probably doubted him. So good for him. Shanatova to Drake.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Happy New Year, Drake. Absolutely. And here is Cam Gordon's first autumn jam. This is why you picked this topic, so you can play this. Some dreams are in the nighttime And some seem like yesterday But least in bottom weight And some seem like yesterday But leaves to bomb and fade Ships sail away
Starting point is 00:30:30 You long to say a thousand words But seasons change It feels like it's forever No reason for emptiness But time just runs away No more day by day You dream again It seems in vain
Starting point is 00:30:56 When seasons change I want you I want to feel you by my side I need you Wow. Don by my side I need you Wow Don't you know I need you Cam's just grooving. Look at him.
Starting point is 00:31:10 He's so happy. This is a great song. I mean, we should just cut the tape right here. So this is the band Expose with the song Seasons Change. Is this about fall or is this about relationships that change? It's about seasons. It's a literal song. But maybe with a bit of metaphor. This is from 1987.
Starting point is 00:31:31 He needs to point. Which season is changing into which season? This doesn't sound like autumn to me. Maybe fall is turning. Oh, God, we'd still make it an autumn song. You're just banking on the fact it's not winter turning into spring or spring turning into summer. Seasons change. Feelings change Seasons change, feelings change. You know, she's talking about how...
Starting point is 00:31:48 Feelings, leaves change, you know, the read between the lines here, you know, back to school. Did she say leaves change? No, there's no mention of leaves in this. She doesn't mention back to school either. She's not specific as to which seasons are changing. There's a line about Rosh Hashanah and like this listen. Okay, well, I'll have to pay attention.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Anyway, we'll give it a listen on the playback. Anyway, expose, seasons change change this is from 1987 so expose was an american latin freestyle vocal group that achieved most of their success between the years 1984 and 1993 um this song was actually the fifth single from their debut album. And easily their biggest song. How often is the... This should be a topic. Fifth singles that become the biggest hit of a band's career. Their other songs included Point of No Return,
Starting point is 00:32:34 Exposed to Love, which Stu, every Friday night and midnight, exposing himself to love. I wish. Let Me Be The One was another one. I don't know that one. This song, in fairness, I know it was a joke. What was the other one?
Starting point is 00:32:49 I didn't write it down for some reason. Is there any other expose songs that are known? I thought they had a 90s hit. Their follow-up album, the lead single was something called What You Don't Know Might Hurt You. What You Don't Know Might Hurt You. Good singing. Thank you. Is that your singing debut real... Good singing. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Is that your singing debut? This is how he gets the ladies. Yeah. So anyway, this band was definitely a late 80s phenomenon generally. Kind of like Candy in the Backbeat. Yeah. Yeah. Like in Gotham Traffic, like two...
Starting point is 00:33:19 The Jets maybe almost? Yeah, the Jets. Yeah, the Jets are a good one. Right. Right. Well, I'm just going to jump right into it because they... Was it Rocket 2U? Was that the big Jets song? Yeah, the Jets. Yeah, the Jets are a good one. Right. Right? Well, I'm just going to jump right into it because they... Was it Rocket 2U?
Starting point is 00:33:28 Is that the big Jets song? Yeah. That was good. And I've got a crush on... Oh, baby, I got to love you. They did a couple of hits. Head to toe, yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Or Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. Oh, yeah, Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam. Yeah. So anyway, they came up because, I mean, Exposé has played... This is a good note. In Cam's bedroom. Yeah, so... Well, I mean, Exposé has played. This is a good note. In Cam's bedroom.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Yeah, well, I mean. Bathroom. You know, you know. So they broke up around 1993. Got back together in 2003. Well, you know why they broke up? Will you let me finish? No, because they broke up because seasons change and feelings change. Okay, and seasons like fall and you can't tour in the fall.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Anyway, I've lost my train of thought here. That's so bad. Come on, Cam's doing a good job. Encourage him. So anyway, I'm just saying, Exposé reformed in 2003. Thank God. Now, if you look on their Wikipedia pages, there's a photo of the members signing autographs. It's something called the Mid-State Fair.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Oh. Stu, do you know where this is? Paso Robles, California. Yes. Is that near LA? Paso Robles, California. Yes. Is that New Orleans? He's got no fucking clue. It's just like an essential part of the state. Yeah. Paso Robles. So anyway, based on their Wikipedia, when they reformed, they
Starting point is 00:34:36 played a lot of casinos and state fairs. They also played Epcot Center. Oh, thank God. That was a slow night. You know, you've arrived. That is a great song. Well, I was going to say it That's how you know you've arrived. But that is a great song. Well, I was going to say it's interesting when you look on their... It's not a great song. Their Spotify account in the...
Starting point is 00:34:52 Fuck you. Stu hates the topic and that song. Sorry, Buban. Bojan is a lovely Polish name. Anyway, I'm saying people who like expose based on the Spotify algorithm, the other artists they like, Lisa Lisa and Cult algorithm, the other artists, they like Lisa, Lisa and cult jam, the jets.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Sure. Oh my God. So good call. And also Taylor, Taylor Dane, Taylor Dane. Yeah. Taylor Dane.
Starting point is 00:35:12 So there you go. Expose seasons change. A great autumn jam. What about, uh, till Tuesday? I feel like, uh,
Starting point is 00:35:20 voices. I feel like they're too, too edgy. I'd say like new shoes, like I can't wait. I feel like they're too edgy. Okay, too edgy. I'd say like New Shoes. Like... I can't wait. Yeah, that's a good one. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:35:29 So, okay, firstly, this controversial start. You notice how we start weak? We always start weak. Well, Cam starts. That's why. To be honest, and again, I've made this mistake in the past, so I can't judge, but there's no evidence that's actually an autumn song. There's no... That's not... There's no... No one... that's actually an autumn song. There's no...
Starting point is 00:35:45 That's not an autumn song. So to be clear, seasons changing. That's not about... That's different than leaves changing. All the leaves are... Does that have to say all the fucking leaves are brown and the skies are gray? What are the months of fall? Okay, I'll tell you. I know this.
Starting point is 00:36:01 You've got some September in there. Yes. You've got all of October. Yes. You've got all of October. Yes. You've got all of November. Let's stop there. You have most of December, by the way. Most of December, but I think that would be very controversial. Because December sort of starts to get into winter. November is probably like the prime month.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Right. October too. Yeah. This would be a good song. Sorry, one more song. T-Pow, Heart and Soul. Oh, that's a Cui Luce news. A little bit of heart and soul. No, the heart of rock and roll. A little bit of rock and roll. Oh, that's a Cui Luce news. A little bit of heart and soul.
Starting point is 00:36:26 No, the heart of rock and roll. A little bit of rock and roll. Oh, yeah, yeah. I like that song. Oh, we got a nice autumn wind coming in here. Okay, so that's a controversial beginning, but a great song. Great song. Do you have eight minutes
Starting point is 00:36:41 and 48 seconds for my next song? You guys ready for his epic? This is Stu Stone's epic first autumn jam. How are we not closing with this? He picked the order. I got some time to talk now. Yeah, talk over it. For the next three and a half minutes.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Come up here on QL7. This is November Rain, which is an autumn song. Agreed. This is a great example of an autumn song. Similar to Exquisite. It is a song by Guns N' Roses.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Guns N' fucking Roses. Written by Axl Rose. Which is an anagram for oral sex. Is that true? I think so. There is also... It is for sure true. real strings,
Starting point is 00:37:27 real symphony orchestra that you're hearing that was orchestrated by Axl Rose, which is kind of impressive because I wouldn't know how to do that. This song is epic.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Yeah. Too early, Cam. Hold on to that. Hold on. We show something strange. Real quick. Slash in his autobiography Slash
Starting point is 00:37:44 Also with you. Yes. Slash in his autobiography. Also with you. Yes. He stated in his autobiography that there was an 18-minute version of the song November Rain that was recorded in 1986 prior to the recording of Appetite for Destruction. Correct. Wow. There was some mixed feelings on. Oh, let's listen for a second. If the cameras were on, I'd be giving you the...
Starting point is 00:38:12 Yeah. The serpent pile. Well, listen, some of... We can turn it down for a second. Some of Guns N' Roses' most beloved hits are November Rain, Don't Cry, Patience, Estranged, some of the slower sort of jams, and Slash and some of the other members of the band didn't really, according to Axl, didn't want to do, and I'm, this is free, I'm free flowing this
Starting point is 00:38:35 information. He's not reading this, ladies and gentlemen. But, you know, according to Axl, the other guys didn't want to do this ballad stuff. They didn't, they wanted to rock and rock out, and I guess they're pretty according to Axl, the other guys didn't want to do this ballad stuff. They wanted to rock and rock out. And I guess they're pretty happy if Axl won the argument. Now, Slash, he says the opposite. He says he never had any issues with these songs. And I guess there was disagreements between these two guys that they have since ironed out.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Because Guns N' Roses, hell has frozen over. And Guns N' Roses did get back together and have toured successfully up until COVID, and I'm sure they'll tour for many more years to come. Is this 1986 version of November Rain available anywhere? I have not been able to find it, much like the fourth expose single from the album. I didn't write it down where to find it. 18 minutes, that's like in Degada De Vida territory.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Longest song to ever be on top of the Billboard chart is November Rain. What if I told you that? And I'm going to bet it beat the Bohemian Rhapsody record. Or I have no idea if Bohemian Rhapsody ever topped the charts. It's the longest song ever to reach the top. Top 10, I should say. Oh, top 10. Okay. Of the Billboard
Starting point is 00:39:39 Hot 100. It's epic, man. It's epic. And as a lifelong Guns N' Roses fan, this song is just that video is just larger than life. It's a solid.. It's epic. And as a lifelong Guns N' Roses fan, this song is just, that video is just larger than life. It's a solid. Slash's solo, which we will get to later in the song, he claims that he just improvised that on the spot.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Bullshit. That's what he says. And we've all seen, have we all seen Guns N' Roses in concerts? Yes. No. Okay, so that moment when- I've seen them like three times,
Starting point is 00:40:02 which means I've seen them for about 71 hours. Right, right. They're like four and a them for about 71 hours. Right, right. They're like four and a half hours, five hours. Yeah, yeah. All the hits. So when the Slash solo, when Slash has the spotlight for the solo, it's quite a moment at these concerts.
Starting point is 00:40:14 It's like, wow. I can't really imagine. The music video with Stephanie Seymour. Oh, yeah. A lot of people may not remember the storylines from these music videos, but apparently, unofficially, November Rain, Don't Cry, and Estranged are an unofficial trilogy of sorts.
Starting point is 00:40:32 So if you watch those videos, there's sort of a full story. This I remember. If I may, Estranged is, in my opinion, a very pretentious video where I feel like November Rain somehow gets away with being like... But Estr Strange with the dolphins is a little much, right? Apparently Axl came up with the idea for most of the shit you see
Starting point is 00:40:51 in the video too, including the second Slash solo, not this one, where he's in front of a church which is supposed to be in a forest or a field and then they found this old church. Is this where he's, sorry to interrupt, this is where he's on top of the piano, this one? Or is that the second one? I'm trying to remember.
Starting point is 00:41:08 I don't remember. The second one is the more impactful one. Very rare to hear a song with two guitar solos that's not a Toto song. And it's very exciting that Guns N' Roses did that in this song. Donald Trump, the current president of the United States, according to what is out there in the world, he says this is the greatest music video of all time. I call bullshit on him liking any piece of music. Well, apparently he makes people watch this video.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Okay. Is that true? Yeah. There's a good source on that? Yeah, you can look this up. It's a real thing. You're a loser if you don't like it. And Trump says that this is the best music video of all time.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Obviously, he hasn't watched Michael Jackson's Thriller, but the November Rain video was very popular. It's a hell of a video. It's a hell of a good video. You've never seen Pape and Cut Your Hair video? No. Alright, you ready? I think we've got to turn it up here, right? Not yet.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Not even. There's three guitar solos. It's very rare you have a song with three guitar solos that's not a Toto song. It's just showing off now. Okay, how about this? You wink at me when I can turn it up. Okay. Okay. This is the first, in 2018, this became the first music video made before YouTube to surpass
Starting point is 00:42:18 one billion views on YouTube. Wait, billion with a B? With a B. Wow. It's also the first music video from the 1990s to hit a billion streams. Wow. With a B. With a B.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Wow. I don't think Steven Adler is the drummer of the band at this point. Is this when they switched over to... Matt Sorum? Yeah. Matt Sorum. Yeah, well, this is your Use Your Illusion version. Remember the popular band Sword from the Terminator 2?
Starting point is 00:42:50 You Could Be Mine? Could Be Mine. Of course, of course. What was that song, Garden of Eden? Was that this album? Yeah, that's a double album, right? So yeah, there's one and two. And yes, that's from here.
Starting point is 00:43:01 So the funny thing about this band is there's not a lot of stuff, right? So you got your Appetite for Destruction. You got GNR Lies, which gives you patience. Then you get the double disc. And then everything after that. And I'm sure that... Spaghetti incident. Was that just covers?
Starting point is 00:43:14 Yeah. Just covers. Yeah, that's all pure. Oh, here it is. This is what you're waiting for. It's coming. Then it's like Chinese Democracy, which is all that stuff we don't really talk about too much.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Do you guys... Are you familiar with that album? Like, is it good? I did hear some of it live. I bet it's probably pretty good. Here it is. You ready? I really fucking dig it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Ladies and gentlemen, playing center, number 13, Matt Suntine. I'd love to ring. Number 13, Matt Suntine. That looked great. It's still fucking great It just gets better every time It really does Wow What an autumn jam You're not the only one
Starting point is 00:44:24 You need somebody you need somebody? Don't you think that you need somebody? Everybody needs somebody You're not the only one You're not the only one Don't you think that you need somebody? Don't you think that you need somebody? Everybody needs somebody You're not the only one You know, this sort of cemented slash.
Starting point is 00:44:55 I mean, I think that like Sweet Child of Mine and it's obviously a hugely famous riff, but this solo cemented him as probably the premier guitar player of his generation. Now, hear me out for a moment. You mentioned You Could Be Mine, which, of course, showed up in Terminator 2. Okay. So remember when you would hear the story, you'd read Variety,
Starting point is 00:45:16 and you'd hear James Cameron's working on Titanic or whatever, and then it was such a massive project, and it was like, no, this is going to be a disaster. This is the thought. And before it came out, it was like, no, this is gonna be a disaster. This is my, this is the thought and like before it came out, it was like, this is gonna be a disaster.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Well, that would work because it's about Titanic. Right. I feel like that song, can you imagine Axl like pitching that song? Okay,
Starting point is 00:45:35 because there's like, there's a choir in there and there's like a symphony like you said and there's these, I think it's like a rock opera type epic thing and I'm telling you,
Starting point is 00:45:44 that song could have been a hot mess. It's like the Heaven's Gate of music. That song has no business being that fucking good. I can probably say that after the success of Appetite for Destruction, and then they were able to put together that album, G&R Lies, which was just like a throwaway of stuff. It was like B-sides.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Mama Kin's a cover of an Aerosmith song. And then they had, yeah. It was just an excuse to capitalize on their popularity. I had to kill her. I used to love her. I had to kill her. That was a big one. They had probably.
Starting point is 00:46:16 That's an H-roll. The budget from the first record to Use Your Illusion was probably quadrupled. And they had all sorts of money to play with. And so if these guys are real musicians, which they clearly are, then they'd want to do, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:29 listen, when you heard strings on Rolling Stones records back in the day, there's actual string sections in there. So these guys probably wanted to be what, yeah. Beatles too. Led Zeppelin, any,
Starting point is 00:46:38 any of these rock bands. But this was also like, and part of my sort of a metaphor here, but this was almost like the orgasm of the power ballad because then it's all grunge after that. Can we tease next week's topic? Can we do it? Songs about orgasms.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Songs about orgasms. I'm sorry. I didn't know that. Come on, she's a mother. But I... I guess you don't need to know about orgasms and be a mother. it just means you had sex female pleasure okay so right
Starting point is 00:47:07 I'm pro pleasure for all consenting adults I just want to what was I what the fuck was I going to say I don't know next week's topic
Starting point is 00:47:15 next week's topic is soft jams by hard bands oh yeah this is a good one what was the title you came up with you're so clever Cam
Starting point is 00:47:22 soft jams by hard bands something like that, yeah. So you had a, well, we'll come to the real topic, but basically it's Hard Bands with Soft Jams. Yeah, or Hard Artists. Like, you know, there's hip-hop ballads too. Right, yeah, yeah. Like, it doesn't have to be a band even.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Like a hard ax. I got DMX ballad. Sugar. Yes. Oh, Sugar and Spice. Oh, Sugar and Spice. He named it. We got there.
Starting point is 00:47:44 We got there. We got there. Robert Ori. We got to work together. Robert Ori, right, right, right. Okay, Sugar and Spice. He named it. We got there. We got there. We got there. Robert Ori. We got to work together. Robert Ori. Right, right, right. Okay, so I don't know what to say. I love that song.
Starting point is 00:47:50 It holds up. It's fantastic. And by the way, it's the other song that has Shannon Hu. Yeah, don't cry. Yeah, don't cry. I feel like we have to mention that. No one's ever heard that before. Come on.
Starting point is 00:48:00 And he missed out, if I remember correctly, he missed out on the 27 Club because he was 28 when he died. Shannon Hu, he just missed it. Okay. Now, The And he missed out, if I remember correctly, he missed out on the 27 Club because he was 28 when he died. He just missed it. Okay. Now the late great. Okay. So where do we go from there? Well, that's it. So I don't know where to go from there. Between seasons change but I'm going to do my best. You ready? Just coming out strong.
Starting point is 00:48:22 As you did. Is this the MTV Unplugged version? No. I thought that was funny. There is a great Neil Young Unplugged. Yeah. Now, unlike Cam's ambiguous first choice, November Rain and Harvest Moon have no doubt about it,
Starting point is 00:48:52 they're autumn jams. No doubt about it. Just like children sleeping Sorry, Harvest Moon. So, Harvest Moon. What is a Harvest Moon? It's like an October moon. It is a full moon that's closest to the autumnal equinox.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Okay. So basically... Harvest is October. Right. What do you mean? It's an autumn full moon. You didn't know harvest moon was an autumn thing? Okay, Google it.
Starting point is 00:49:20 I just asked you to define it. I didn't say I didn't know what it was. Harvest moon. I mean, absolutely always in autumn. Harvest Moon. And this song is from the album of the same name. Came out in 1992. You likely saw the video.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Yeah. Really? Yeah. Harvest is a different. No, that's Harvest. Yeah, it's confusing. So his MTV Unplugged album Was promoting this album probably It had stuff that was recent
Starting point is 00:49:47 Like from Hanks to Hendrix And stuff on there Yeah Right It was like Mansion on the Hill It was definitely an early 90s thing For sure For sure
Starting point is 00:49:54 But this you might Of course I don't know Stu you were in Canada In the early 90s Yes I get confused Okay
Starting point is 00:49:59 So this was of course This video was on Very high rotation On Much Music Yeah The Harvest Moon video They're kind of dancing in a barn Yeah Have you guys read This was, of course, this video was on very high rotation on MuchMusic. Yeah. The Harvest Moon video. They're kind of dancing in a barn.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Yeah. Have you guys read the lengthy Neil Young book, Shaky? Oh. Have you read this? No, I should. No. That's not Jim Hunt's book. Oh, yeah. The Great Toronto Suns.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Yeah. And Jim Shaky Hunt used to be on the Fan 590. Yeah. No, I've been, it's like 900 pages, I think. So it's huge. I've been chipping away over the summer. I think I'm at about 1995. So I just remember reading the part.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Because, I mean, it's interesting. This is all over MTV. And then he goes on tour with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Right. And Blues Traveler, of all people. But just what an artist. Like, just album to album. I mean, just switching up the song.
Starting point is 00:50:49 I mean, this is also sort of on the heels of rockin' in the free world and all that, like, kind of heavy, gnarly stuff, too. Yeah, that was, like, late 80s, right? Like, 89 or something. Yeah. On Freedom. Remember the album Freedom?
Starting point is 00:51:01 Freedom, yes. And then, you're right, this is, like, the next thing before the Pearl Jam thing. There was an album in between called I think A Ragged Glory came out in between that was sort of
Starting point is 00:51:09 Crazy Horse, right? Yeah, which was getting a bit back into kind of the heavy rock. American Dream. Oh, yeah. He's an American. Yes, it's Crosby, Stills,
Starting point is 00:51:16 Nash, and Young. Yeah, which is like I used to see you on every TV. I love that song. Steaming piece of shit. I fucking hate it. It's so bad.
Starting point is 00:51:23 I like it. It's so bad. I like that song and I'll even like the video you know who hates it Neil Young he hates that I'm gonna actually
Starting point is 00:51:29 download that song it's in the book I'm there you're drinking that's the last hit for Crosby, Stills and Marsh it's about Dusty Rhodes how could you
Starting point is 00:51:35 well baby so the backing vocals I just want to say and this is a significant fun fact who do you think's doing the backing vocals it's Linda Ronstadt
Starting point is 00:51:44 and Emmylou Harris is it not I know it's I don't think it's Emmylou I think it doing the backing vocals? It's Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. Is it not? I don't think it's Emmylou. I think it's Linda Ronstadt. It's Linda Ronstadt, for sure. And this song is a tribute to Neil Young's wife, who has passed away, I believe. Peggy Young.
Starting point is 00:51:55 His ex-wife. Or are they just ex-wife? Well, yeah, at the time they were married. Daryl Hanna. That's right. Of course, he's married to Daryl Hanna now. Is that true? I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:52:02 Well, I don't know if they're married, but they're... Is that Stevie on the harmonica? Steve Young? Yeah, this is Steve Young from Brigham Young University. That's right. He's a Mormon, right? Is he really? I believe all Brigham Young people are Mormons.
Starting point is 00:52:15 Okay. I feel like... I was going to say that a lot of heavily successful, hugely successful, influential people in the world of entertainment, Howard Stern comes to mind, David Letterman. They love Neil Young. That's their favorite. Actually, Donald Trump liked Neil Young, too. Like, he was at some...
Starting point is 00:52:32 Well, he keeps trying to play rock into the free world. Yeah. He keeps getting the cease and desist. Yeah, like, there's... I think there's video of him, like, backstage at Neil Young concerts. Or there's comments from him at Neil Young concerts. I can't picture him liking music. I'll be very honest.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Like, I don't picture him liking anything that has to do with the arts well lee lee greenwood but uh well not even he just likes the propaganda behind it who played at his inauguration oh was it uh three doors down like they played oh kryptonite yeah yeah i think they played at the inauguration that's right three doors down i think i can get them at tmlx five for fighting ted nugent yeah five yeah we should do like a hockey jam. We should do it for the start of the next season. We should do a hockey jam. Five for Fighting was Superman.
Starting point is 00:53:11 It's just a guy. It's just a guy. Five for Fighting, right? We should do Superman songs. There's so many good Superman songs. You know what I think of? Because that guy played, I think, at the 9-11 benefit concert. I don't want to say right place, right time.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Well, Neil May have played too, but the Five for Fighting. I feel like that song I always think about 9-11. Yeah, I love that. He had like two singles. So you hate American Dream, but you love Five for Fighting. Got it. Correct. You're wrong on both counts there.
Starting point is 00:53:41 Okay, so I've always loved Neil Young. Back in the day when you guys could come into my house, other than sneaking in the side door to go use the washroom, I have a portrait of Neil Young hanging in the hallway. Love that, man. And that's a great jam. So off to a roaring start. Three for three.
Starting point is 00:53:58 And I'm actually, I think Cam's going to fully redeem himself of this pick. Okay. You ready, Stu? Yes. You still have that harmonica. You ready, Stu? Yes. You still have that harmonica handy? Okay, here we go. Oh, baby. Oh, baby.
Starting point is 00:54:19 I picked this song too. Yes, you did. Oh, song two. Yes, you did. Told you that he loved you I don't need to know this Need to know this I don't wanna know this Wanna know this Tell me the words They are with you
Starting point is 00:54:58 Tell me you care Ironically signed by Neil Young. That's right. Hey, did this? It just died. I did it? I'm sorry. I thought the mic died.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Oh, maybe your headphones died. Maybe my headphones. Anyway, this is Hayden, the song, in September. So this one's no doubt an autumn song. It says September, right? This is originally released in 1994. Most people probably discover more like 95 because this was on his original cassette which we had
Starting point is 00:55:26 we did and then was the second track on everything I long for with the Bojana cover that's right it's interesting that like this is one of the more produced songs of his and I kind of like it I wish he did more stuff that was like
Starting point is 00:55:43 grungy feeling right DIY like it. I wish he did more stuff that was like... It's a grungy feeling, right? Some of it is very DIY. It just sounds like he recorded in his bathroom with a tape recorder, which he may have. But there's a charm about Hayden's music. Well, this is one of his big... I was going to say, I always found it a little confusing back in 94, 95. CFNY
Starting point is 00:55:59 would play the shit out of this song. The shit out of this song. But they would not really play bad as they seem. And much music played the shit out of this song. The shit out of this song. But they would not really play bad as they seem. And much music played the shit out of the bad as they seem. I know there was something that was a video for this song and I primarily knew it
Starting point is 00:56:16 because around the same time Trouble Charger put out an EP called Self Equals Title. This had like even Grable and Morale. Yeah, and that video has Hayden in it. Well, yeah, he's in the video, but there's also a CD-ROM on the CD and had a video for In September, plus
Starting point is 00:56:31 all this other stuff for like Head and Thresh Herman and Polito. Amazing, amazing. Anyway, we've mentioned this a lot of time. Hayden went to the same high school as Stu and I. Wow. I was trying to figure out when he graduated. It said he graduated from Ryerson in 1993 which would have put him at Thornley in probably like 1990
Starting point is 00:56:48 so he might have graduated like a year before Stu and I showed up in 1991 and fun fact from his Wikipedia page his father Sherwin Desser is a retired U of T professor in parasidiology I don't even know what that is I guess the study of parasites and he's
Starting point is 00:57:04 currently a visual artist. One other final comment, and I think we've talked about this before. The video for Bad As They Seem, which is not the song we just heard, but was shot around the corner from where Stu Stone went to public school. And also around the corner from where
Starting point is 00:57:19 Gian Gomeschi grew up and was also under house arrest. After his whole thing, he went to stay with his mom. Right. Where was the video shot? It was, it was like on a street down, you know,
Starting point is 00:57:30 where like Skippy Fun Food. Of course. There was sort of a street. I think it was like across the street from Henderson and down one of those streets. When COVID's, when we get food fair, when the pandemic's over,
Starting point is 00:57:43 can we rent up like a party bus and just do tours of all the pandemic Friday references? Here's where Sluggers was. There's a whole thing going on here. I love that. This is where Cam Gordon met Elvis Stoico.
Starting point is 00:57:58 This is where Cam's mom keeps the Harold Ballard portrait. There's a bunch of Rush stuff in Thornhill 2 where they've recorded some of their lateard portrait. There's a bunch of Rush stuff in Thorne Hill 2, where they've recorded some of their late 70s. Is that in Lone Hill? Ann Murray's house, yes. A honk outside of Ann Murray's house. Future FOTM Ann Murray.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Yes, yes. Unbelievable. Sharon Lois and Bram, we can show you where they used to play back in... Doodoo the Clown? We can take you to Doodoo the Clown. Absolutely, yeah. This is the Cable 10. Was it Newtonbrook?
Starting point is 00:58:21 Where were you guys again? Classic Home. Yeah. Classic Home. Was it? No, where? Oh, that was Newton Cable. Newton Cable 10. Was it Newtonbrook? Where were you guys again? Classic Home. Yeah. Or, yeah. Classic Home. Was it? No, where? Overtime Sports. Oh, that was Newton Cable.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Newton Cable. Okay, so we'll sell tickets and everything as soon as this pandemic is done. I love it. 25 bucks a head. And that in September, Hayden Jam, always loved it, and I still enjoyed it in the headphones here. It slaps. It's a great hit.
Starting point is 00:58:41 And that album, that Everything I Long For For which is when I learned about that song it's really good like you know Billie Eilish is very popular or might still be probably is she has a very soft spoken type of
Starting point is 00:58:51 singing kind of thing Hayden has a lot of songs like that he was ahead of his time in the he was just very like delicate with in some of his songs
Starting point is 00:58:59 he's just like yeah like yeah skates for example, right? Like... That is not a short album, too. He's sad, right? He was sad at that time.
Starting point is 00:59:12 That album's sad. I used to put it on and go to sleep to it in high school. I'd play that CD every night. I think people said it was mopey. I did, too. It was very mopey. I kind of dug the comfort
Starting point is 00:59:21 in being sad. He was, I mean, classic. It was a good era to be sad. Honestly, we were really sad in the early 90s. Kids think they're sad today. They don't know how we had it. We used to be sad. By the way, did he ever respond to your tweet?
Starting point is 00:59:34 No, you know what? If anyone out there, this is a plea to the FOTMs listening, if anyone has a connect with Hayden Desser, you think he's too big to get on the mic? No. Not too big to come on Toronto Mike? No. He's just too big to even talk about his music
Starting point is 00:59:50 career. I don't know if this is... I got Craig Northey and Stephen Page and all these people are bigger. I'm not saying he's big. I'm saying he's just private. Too private. I'm trying to say something serious here. I'm 100% serious. I think he has a kid
Starting point is 01:00:06 With like developmental challenges That serenade Yes about autism I feel like maybe he just keeps a really low profile Because of that too And that's his right? That's a huge assumption I'm not trashing him
Starting point is 01:00:20 I just haven't had success Getting to him to hear a yes or a no I regret that a few years ago there was a show at Massey Hall I want to say with Hayden
Starting point is 01:00:30 and possibly Our Lady Pease that's the serenade that's the dream what's it called I think dream serenade yeah my friend Rosie I would have loved to have gone to that
Starting point is 01:00:38 because that's that's sort of like the prototype for the event that we should put on maybe with like Jim Cuddy and Hayden
Starting point is 01:00:43 yeah I feel I feel like Chris Murphy might have been. The guys from The National. You're right. And Stu, when the pandemic's over, we can get serious about that. We should throw that event. Like the damn fourth musical. I know the guys that own it.
Starting point is 01:00:55 We could probably do it there. Well, yeah. We'll get The Watchmen. We'll get Lowest of the Low. We'll get The Pursuit of Happiness. The Doughboys. This is going to be amazing. You would seriously sell that place out if you could line up
Starting point is 01:01:07 four of those acts. I think it should just be called the CanCon Festival. I think it's going to be TMLX7. You sound like the Watchmen can fill that place too. You get the Watchmen plus a few other bands. The Doughboys, Rusty, Stay in the Room Only. Molly Johnson, Gino.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Yeah, we'll talk. We will do this Cannon from February. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, we'll talk. We will do this. Hosted by us. We need these things to look forward to. We'll introduce the bands. Yeah, exactly. Well, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:01:34 So, oh yeah, just Stu mentioned it, but I want to just confirm it because I'm the guy who knows all this stuff, is that you both picked that Hayden Jam. So that was... Stu had it too, and I said... That's a no-brainer. I said, yeah. And if cam hadn't
Starting point is 01:01:45 picked we all would have picked that song actually and this is another song i had this song i gave it to stew because stew picked it and i want to pick something else but we both we both had this jam right here which is such a hack choice but let's do it it's obvious but it's good we're both looking at cam i I don't know what that is. You don't know this one? He will, he will. Summer has come and passed. It's too mainstream for Cam.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Good song. I know it does. Yeah, I like this song. It's a good song. Wake me up when September ends. September ends. Like my father's come to pass. Seven years has gone so fast.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Wake me up when September ends. Here comes the rain again Falling from the stars Drenched in my pain again Becoming who we are As my memory rests Here it comes. I guess not yet. Almost. Here are some drums.
Starting point is 01:03:31 Wake me up. Wake me up when September ends. We'll get to the, when it gets good, we'll turn it up. Acoustic Ballad by Green Day. Green Day, very popular band in the 90s, very popular grunge act from the 90s. Not a grunge act. And, you know, listen,
Starting point is 01:03:53 these guys knew how to write hit songs, that's for sure. Catchy hit songs. But there was a period of time where they sort of like were kind of fading away and almost gone from popular culture. And this song brought them back from the dead. It literally revitalized their entire existence.
Starting point is 01:04:13 And a brilliant album that a lot of people really love. It's sort of like a rock opera of sorts. This song particularly has nothing to do with the rest of the stories in the other songs. But this was a very popular song. They had a lot of success with another ballad, Hope You Had the Time of Your Life. So people weren't... Which is actually called Good Riddance.
Starting point is 01:04:34 And I don't think that this... So this is not such a shock to hear them do this type of song, but musically this is a real musically different song than you're used to from Green Day. There's just a lot more production behind it and a lot more epicness to the production, I guess we should say. It feels like what it became, which is part of a Broadway show.
Starting point is 01:05:01 There's American Idiot, the musical, which I saw in North York, by the way. Really great song. Wake Me Up When September Ends. And it's written about his father who passed away. And I guess, you know, listen, September's a shit month. So it's kind of like a fitting kind of thing. Wake Me Up When September Ends. Is September a shit month?
Starting point is 01:05:19 Well, it usually is. It's like you're going back to school and it's just like summer's over. See, the reason I mean, I speak as a cyclist, I suppose, but September is like one of my favorite cycling months because it's still warm. Yeah. For the non-cyclists. It sucks for the rest of the people. I like September.
Starting point is 01:05:34 I'm quite a big September fan. It's like August 31st comes, I'm going to bed. Wake me up when September ends. Yeah. Summer's over. Someone didn't like school. I feel like this was the fourth or fifth single from this album. Can I tell you my memories?
Starting point is 01:05:44 I remember the first single being American Idiot. Yeah. Which I really do not like. You know the one I liked, and I don't know if I still like it because I'd have to hear it again. It's been a while. But I liked Jesus of Suburbia. Oh, yeah. It felt like...
Starting point is 01:05:58 It reminded me a bit of Meat Loaf's Bad Out of Hell. Yes. That it was like five songs in one. You know what I mean? Song cycle. Right. Whatever you in that it was like five songs in one. Song cycle. Whatever you call it when there's five songs in one. Boulevard of Broken Dreams? That was on this. That was a good track. That was the first song that sort of brought them back.
Starting point is 01:06:16 Yeah, because this is basically from the album. It's called American Idiot. It was a big comeback. Walk Alone. I walk alone. That was the big one. Before American Idiot, they'd have one hit off their album and it would be something like, remember Hitch and a Ride or something? You're right, they were on the...
Starting point is 01:06:30 They were sort of on the down decline, but this brought them back, this record. So good for them. And they've cemented themselves. Listen, I've used the word cementing a few times now, but as much as Slash cemented himself as the guitarist of his generation, this album cemented Green Day's legacy as more than just being
Starting point is 01:06:48 sort of a one-generation wonder. It's multi-generational now. It took them from doing the 2,000 clubs that could hold 2,000 people to going to Molson Amphitheater and having 60,000. Well, they were already doing that, believe me. Before American Idiot? Oh, for sure. I saw them at fucking Arrow Hall. The Dookie album was massive. In Mississauga. Well, they were already doing that, believe me. Before American Idiot? Oh, for sure. I saw them at fucking Arrow Hall.
Starting point is 01:07:05 The Dookie album was massive. In Mississauga. Okay, Basket Case. No, I think, they were like the biggest band in the world for like two years. Because I've seen Green Day
Starting point is 01:07:13 like five times and now I'm thinking about it, one time was at Arrow Hall in Mississauga. Yeah. A pretty small venue. What year was that? The Phoenix.
Starting point is 01:07:21 What year was that? This time you're talking about when Hitchin arrived. Oh, so during the decline. But then when American Idiot breaks again, now they can headline Amphitheater and Air Canada Center. Right. But there was a period there where they were kind of. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:35 Dark years. Yeah. Like 2000, 25. I remember they would be on the Warped Tour in 2001 and they would not be headliner. They're just, oh, we're going to sort of do that sort of fake, go back to our roots but it's really green day because although they do come up a lot but uh not enough actually uh dookie fucking rock still put on dookie and you'll love every also pronounced dookie but uh good fucking record isn't it like cookie how do you say cookie cookie uh you know uh remember frookies i heard? I remember going to Lollapalooza
Starting point is 01:08:06 And blasting that album Like that was our pump up Driving to Lollapalooza song Like Do you have the time? But the best one was Bite my lip Bang those my
Starting point is 01:08:19 Longview Yeah yeah It was about masturbation These were really awesome songs When I Come Around Was the anthem from Woodstock Okay Yeah for our age And we're similar Longview was Longview, yeah, yeah. It was about masturbation. These were really awesome songs. When I Come Around was the anthem from Woodstock. Yeah, for our age, and we're similar vintage, Longview was like an anthem of sort of like that teenage...
Starting point is 01:08:32 It's awesome stuff. Great grunge. Also one of those albums you put on and it just starts, it's like, I declare I don't care. You know, like right away, just like right into it. But when Dookie blew up, didn't you go back and buy their old albums too? Oh yeah, the 1000.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Those are good songs too. The 1000. Slappyokie blew up, didn't you go back and buy their old albums too? Oh yeah, the 1000. Sloppy, smooth. Kerplunk. She, she lived in silence. Those early albums were not great. I like them. And then it's a Paradise one called Welcome to Paradise. And then they did that Woodstock. I would say that the Dookie album is
Starting point is 01:09:02 probably like a start to finish album that you could listen to. And I used to play it a lot with the Offspring Smash. Like those two kind of at the same time. I was all by myself. Oh. Head and track. One of the songs, one of the topics I put in that spreadsheet is swear jams. And there's a jam on Smash that's all mine when we get to that.
Starting point is 01:09:20 Now I'm going to change it up a bit here. So we played some pretty popular songs. Everyone listening says, I know those five songs. Sorry, can I just say one final thought about The Offspring? Go ahead. I just remember being in a car when I was in high school
Starting point is 01:09:32 and you know the opening for Self seemed like, like that came on and my mom got like so pissed off. She's like, can you turn that off? Kind of like you just yelled at me. Isn't it a,
Starting point is 01:09:42 sort of, time to relax. Isn't it that guy No it's like I love self esteem But I was a teenager One of the intros to Like
Starting point is 01:09:53 You know I wasn't I was a fan of that Offspring album I didn't like The Stuff that followed As much
Starting point is 01:10:01 Oh yeah the pretty fly For a white guy is awful So there's like One of the songs Doesn't it start with Yes yes yes Which is also Pretty Fly for a White Guy is awful. So there's like one of the songs, doesn't it start with like, which is also a deaf leopard also starts. It's sampled by, it's sampled.
Starting point is 01:10:11 I always hear that deaf leopard song. I always hear that and I get excited that it's going to be Rock of Ages and instead it's Pretty Fly for a White Guy. That's like when you think you're going to hear David Bowie and Freddie Mercury and then you hear Vanilla Ice. Well, that's less disappointing.
Starting point is 01:10:25 I was going to say, without that track, we'd have no Malibu's Most Wanted. Oh, my God. And then there's no Stu Stone experience. Oh, yeah. You can tie a direct line. All ties together. Okay. So, I just want to do a little speech here.
Starting point is 01:10:37 When we kicked out FOTM Jams, which was last week. That was a great episode. Great episode. I enjoyed that. Thank you for doing that. I owe you one. The critics loved it. People love it. Was there. Thank you for doing that. The critics loved it. People love it.
Starting point is 01:10:45 Was there a lot of comments on that one? It was beloved. No one comments anymore on TorontoMic.com. When I switched commenting systems, Maybe you should switch back. It's too late now. That ship has sailed. It's too late.
Starting point is 01:10:57 We shouted out a lot of great musicians on Toronto Mic in that episode last week, and we did not shout out somebody who I had a great jam kicking with. He's a wonderful musician but he's not famous famous but if you know great Toronto singer songwriters you probably know him. Al Greco.
Starting point is 01:11:14 Sean. Al's bringing his guitar to TMLX6. I see Al has a podcast. It's on Letter Kenny. So shout out to Al Greco. Sean William Clark. Sean William Clark. Okay. Sean William Clark came over a few years ago.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Wonderful singer-songwriter. Stephen Stanley told me to put, he said, you got to have this guy on. And I said, I'd love to. And we kicked out the jams. But I played some Sean William Clark and I played this song, which was new at the time.
Starting point is 01:11:39 And I've loved it ever since. So I'm going to play a song you probably don't know. And then I'm going to tell you a little more about it. At the end of the day The sunlight is fading fast We're on our way Another damn tank of gas Long empty roads
Starting point is 01:12:35 The tree lights play cold refrains My passenger seat Warm torn and coffee stains Ooh Ooh Might I suggest when you're driving, when you're driving up north to look at the beautiful trees as the leaves change color in this autumn, put on this song, which is called Autumn in New Brunswick. It reminded me of Autumn in New Brunswick.
Starting point is 01:13:37 And sorry, this is Sean William Clark. Sean William Clark. And this was on his album. I guess it's a few years old now, but it's called Topaz. Sean William Clark, and this was on his album. I guess it's a few years old now, but it's called Topaz. And just let me read a little bit from Sean William Clark's website about Autumn in New Brunswick. It's Sean's signature hypnotic and autobiographical lyrics
Starting point is 01:13:55 present the resting and calming points of the hectic nature of touring. Feeling much like a road diary, Autumn in New Brunswick is an emotional postcard to a friend the song is serene and pastoral matching up as a perfect companion to the subject clark shares a glimpse into his life on the road with olenka and autumn lovers and fittingly adding the vocal prowess of olenka herself on harmonies if you hear the woman's voice that's olenka not sweet olenka i was gonna say ice creamies. If you hear the woman's voice, that's Olenka. Not sweet Olenka. I was going to say ice cream places.
Starting point is 01:14:27 You know, the original sweet Olenka is you can throw a rock and hit it from here. Very tasty. Olenka lives in New Toronto. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:33 There's a real Olenka? There's a real Olenka. Sorry, the one singing or the ice cream? No, the ice cream Olenka. Okay, very good. Not sure where the singing Olenka is.
Starting point is 01:14:39 Yeah. I dig this. Good thoughts. Yeah, thank you. It's very different than what we've listened to. Very season change. Mellow. Yeah, thank you. It's very different than what we've listened to. Very seasons change. Mellow.
Starting point is 01:14:47 So sink into your seat, close your eyes, and let the words paint the picture for you. Sorry, what are you reading about? This is like a lengthy description of this on his website? Yeah, seanwilliamclark.com. He actually wrote about this single, and I read it there to you.
Starting point is 01:15:04 Okay, God bless. Good job. I like that, when you bring out your religious... My Catholic upbringing. Yeah, how's your Catholic Catholicism going? I was raised Catholic, too. I was a strict atheist household. All right, good for you.
Starting point is 01:15:21 Stupid question, he's from New Brunswick originally? Or he lives there now? No, he lives here. He's a Toronto guy. And I guess He's from New Brunswick originally, or he lives there now or no, he lives here. He's a Toronto guy. And, uh, I guess he was touring New Brunswick and, uh,
Starting point is 01:15:31 he wrote this, uh, this song. Did you spend time in New Brunswick when you did your East coast road trip? Oh yeah. So I've never been there. I've been to the East coast a few times, but yeah,
Starting point is 01:15:42 there's a lot of, you gotta be careful of the moose. Uh, I'm not kidding. Uh, been to the East Coast a few times. Yeah, there's a lot of, you got to be careful of the moose. I'm not kidding. My friend's parents, no joke, my friend's parents died because they hit a moose in New Brunswick. Wow. This is a true story. And I knew that.
Starting point is 01:15:52 I was very careful. Was it in the autumn? Probably. But that road trip, we went through Quebec, obviously, and then New Brunswick. And then we did the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. And then we went to Prince Edward Island. Beautiful. And then we made our way back but that was exactly four
Starting point is 01:16:10 summers ago and all six of us went because Morgan was a newborn. Probably feels like four centuries ago at this point. Four scores. Oh yeah, I forgot. Stu lived in America for a long time. He's recited this.
Starting point is 01:16:25 I lived in America. I was going to say, Stu had nominal thoughts about Sean Williams. Rocky IV. I thought it was a nice song. I hadn't heard it before, so I was just listening. Yeah, we didn't hear a song for the first time. Hard for me to comment or, you know, jibber jabber when I don't know. So it was a very nice song. Very well produced. Very nice. And I agree, you know, if you're driving a car and you're in New Brunswick and it's fall, crank that jam.
Starting point is 01:16:49 That's your jam. Yeah. Autumn in New Brunswick. So thank you, Sean William Clark. I'm sorry I didn't mention him last week. I will give two thumbs up to the guy. He sounded great. Better than I could do.
Starting point is 01:16:59 Yeah. You know what song I almost chose? You guys would have been pissed. Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow You guys would have been pissed. Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow. We would have been so angry. I feel like it talks about we're driving and the leaves are changing.
Starting point is 01:17:14 Okay, that's cool. It's a better choice than your expose. Seasons change is not really about fall. No, seasons changing. That's more of a metaphor. She's talking about seasons change, feelings change. No, she's changing. No, that's more of a metaphor. She's talking about like, listen, season's changing, feelings change. No, she's being literal. I don't think you're right.
Starting point is 01:17:27 What do you think? It's like as if Mad World was about school or something. Okay, you guys ready for... You realize they played Epcot Center. Are you ready? The Autumn Pavilion. Are you ready for Cam's third jam? This is a banger.
Starting point is 01:17:42 So get Booshenna ready. Here we go. This better be some mob deep? This is a banger. Yes. So get Bojana ready. Here we go. This better be some mob deep. Oh, okay. I know this one. This is good. He's too on to this one, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Well, no. Not really a fall song. I'm going to say this one is a fall song. He's gone till November. He'll be back in November. Well, Wake Me Up When September Ends. He could write that in June. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 01:18:10 He could wake me up like any time. It could be like six months from now. God bless you so. I love you, girl. Every time I make a run, girl, you turn around and cry. It's like an alternate recording of it. I feel like there's like two versions, like the symphonic version. I got the YouTube link from Cam.
Starting point is 01:18:31 I just converted it. It sounds like a different version. So I'll be gone. I think it's the version. Said I'll be gone till November. No, there's like an expansive production. Probably for the music video, maybe they shook it up. Maybe.
Starting point is 01:18:49 Yeah, it's definitely the video. January, March, April, May. January, February. Yeah, this is a weird version. Way to go, Cam. So this is Wyclef Jean. His name? Yeah, it's French because it's Haitian. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:14 How would you say it? Wyclef Jean. Jean? I'm very pretentious. Wyclef Jean. Yeah. What was the guy he butchered the name of early on? Well, there's Mos Def and Jodeci. Jodekai.
Starting point is 01:19:27 Jodeci. I say, yeah. You said Jodekai. Wycliffe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Haitian number one language, I think, is French. That's right. Patois.
Starting point is 01:19:37 And then that's why you get the Louisiana hybrid thing with the... Yeah, like the Cajun. Right. Cajun, it's all... Which that comes from the Acadians, which is New Brunswick, actually. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:19:48 The French came from there. Yeah. So this, you know, it's not quite November Rain in terms of the symphonic arrangement, but this is... Oh, this version. Nevertheless,
Starting point is 01:19:56 this is the New York Philharmonic Orchestra you're hearing back at Y-Clip here. Wow. So this song actually came out in December, just kind of half fall and half winter, 1997. Song went to number seven in the US, a bit higher in Canada. It was a top five hit, went to number four. I remember it being a big hit.
Starting point is 01:20:17 I kind of forgot the video for this too, where Bob Dylan was in it for like two seconds. It was a little unclear. Apparently Destiny's Child are in the video too. Yeah, I only remember Bob Dylan. Put them on the map. That no, no, no when you say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was Wyclef. I totally like this song in general. For whatever reason, I just can't forget about it.
Starting point is 01:20:35 It was kind of fun going back and there's a lot of, oh yeah. This is the album where you had that Stayin' Alive remix or whatever. Remember? That's right. Yeah. The Carnival is a good album. Yeah, The Carnival, that's it. There was a period of time where Wyclef could do no wrong.
Starting point is 01:20:50 I mean, the Fugees album is a classic. The score. Yeah, and then this album, The Carnival, was really, really great also. And this came out shortly after the score. The Fugees had such a short-lived career. Just like Brando, even like Ghetto Superstar. This was all within three or four years like all this stuff and then lauren hill of course
Starting point is 01:21:09 she exploded as well yeah she had that record a random monster album random wycliffe uh observation here and this is just this was on my blog in one of the graphics i did why wycliffe actually played a private party for Canada Goose back in June 2018. It's not even surprise. It drops out. But this was like he played at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, if you can believe it. I believe it. Private party with Wycliffe. I believe that.
Starting point is 01:21:36 I'm sure he played this song. I'd have Moe Berg at my party. Yeah. But that's a good song. We like that song. I think that Wycliffe is a guy that overachieved with what he had. Like he's not the best rapper, but he's a hugely successful rapper. He did the most of what he naturally talents.
Starting point is 01:21:54 He did the most, right. He's not the best guitar player, but he really made a career for himself. He's not the best singer, but he released lots of songs where he's singing. And I think he's a visionary in a lot of ways in how hip-hop went from this sort of really raw and gritty thing, which the Fugees had a lot of elements of that. And he managed to sort of commercialize it in a way that still kept its cool for the most part. So I'm going to give him a lot of credit. I'm a huge underrated guy, Wyclef, in his contributions to music.
Starting point is 01:22:25 He just seems like a likable guy, like a good guy to hang out with. I don't know. Just, I don't know, a bit of everything. I've had some encounters with Wyclef. Really? In my early days. In your rap career? Yeah, a very exciting guy to be around back then.
Starting point is 01:22:40 Oh, yeah. Not too much one-on-one stuff, but I did go up on stage and rap out one of his shows and do stuff like that. This is amazing. There you go. This is what we're talking about. But he was another who really knew how to throw, you know, when you went to his show,
Starting point is 01:22:52 like 30 minutes of his set is him just playing other people's records and getting the crowd hyped. He's just a party guy. He just drops that in there. Like, oh yeah, he went on stage and rapped. I did, that's true. I forgot about that. Did I mention Lois DeLoe played my event once?
Starting point is 01:23:06 I'm not saying, like it wasn't like, my mom told me to fuck off because we played Offspring in the car. You know, Gino Vanelli just dropped my guitar
Starting point is 01:23:14 in my basement. That's sick. Is that close to? Wyclef's never been to my house. I need better stories. But Gone Till November, not my favorite song, but it's a great song.
Starting point is 01:23:22 And I know a lot of people who are listening will like it. Most people like that song. It's a good song. I think it qual lot of people who are listening will like it. Most people like that song. It's a good song. I think it qualifies nicely. Cam's first autumn jam. But here's one we got to talk about, Cam. I'll play it and then we'll debate whether this one qualifies.
Starting point is 01:23:32 You ready? You ready? Is this mine? This is Stew Stone's third jam. You're going to have to debate this? Well, I got to remember the lyrics. Maybe I'm missing part of it. Maybe it's not debatable, but let's play it.
Starting point is 01:23:44 Let's play it. Here we are anytime now i mean listen to the lyrics okay by the way October skies he's right the leaves on the trees are falling yeah you know what it's 100% Adam
Starting point is 01:24:10 I know I forgot the lyrics I'm sorry you can't get this guy Cam he's a I was gonna say he had Van Morrison in the news today
Starting point is 01:24:19 did you see that no I'll let bury the leaves you can read the story after I tee you up. Let's hear it, Stu, because I don't know this story. Well, this is a song called Moondance.
Starting point is 01:24:29 We've played it before, I think, in songs by people who are not American or something like that. Somebody played this. He's Irish. Yeah, we found that out on the show. But new tidbits coming here. Wow. New tidbits. Shockingly, this song came out in 1970,
Starting point is 01:24:44 but was not released as a single until November 1977. Shockingly, this song came out in 1970, but was not released as a single until November 1977. I'm trying to find out if maybe someone who's listening can help. I don't believe that could be possible. Like, what do you mean it came out? It came out on an album in 1970, but it was released as a single to... In America? Like, did it get a UK release? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm wondering, was the song in a movie
Starting point is 01:25:07 that it became popular? Was it on a TV show? Was there something that sparked this song to become a single seven and a half years after it was released? I feel like it was in a movie. That sounds familiar. But a 77 movie?
Starting point is 01:25:24 I don't think it was in Star Wars. It wasn't in Star Wars. At the Cantina. Yeah. I think Van Morrison had a cameo there. So, yeah, there's that. And then also Van Morrison, Van the Man, apparently when it comes to the COVID-19 virus,
Starting point is 01:25:40 is a bit of a prick. And he is now releasing new music that is, Campbell I'm sure will will uh let us know but anti-mask songs anti-lockdown songs he is against the shutdown and thinks that the virus is a hoax of some kind i hate hearing this i heard something from uh the guys from away so i was gonna say yeah noel gallagher isn't on like he's like fuck masks but what's the point of van morrison's putting out new music for the first time in years and one of the songs is literally titled like, Don't Lock Us Down Again or
Starting point is 01:26:10 something like that. Yeah, there's a song called Born to Be Free, his anti-mask as I walked out and the most literal. You talk about seasons change being literal. This one really is No More Lockdowns. It's not quite Brown Eyed Girl, but there you go. No More Lockdowns. No More Lockdowns. It's not quite Brown Eyed Girl, but there you go.
Starting point is 01:26:25 No More Lockdowns. No more lockdowns, wearing your mask. I'm trying to find out why the 1977 single release. Like, what is the significance there? Yeah, I'm trying to find that out. I couldn't find any in my research.
Starting point is 01:26:39 Because it was reissued in 2013, but that's a whole different time. I'm thinking that there's some, you know, music lovers that are listening that can tell us the pop culture relevance. Maybe Retro Ontario could dig it up. But there's got to be a reason why a song that was first put out in 1970, like a fart in church, all of a sudden became a big single seven and a half years later.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Something had to spark that. Was it a Bohemian Rhapsody type of thing where it was in Wayne's World and all of a sudden it's back again? But then if it was something like that it would have made the wiki page like that would be it would get a line on the wiki page and I couldn't find anything in any of my other sort of
Starting point is 01:27:13 reasoning I don't know how this blew up so leave a comment please and tell us the answer maybe cause you know and wear your fucking masks yeah are you wearing masks at TMLX?
Starting point is 01:27:26 I'm bringing my mask. And again, I don't want to get all difficult here, but I have, my rule is if I'm indoors in public space, I always wear my mask. Of course. But I was doing that well before it was the law. And when I'm outdoors, I try to keep, like right now, for example, I'm not wearing a mask now because I can keep six feet from you guys.
Starting point is 01:27:43 Right. So I have an outdoor, indoor rule. You'll be able to keep six feet from you guys. Right. So I have an outdoor-indoor rule. You'll be able to keep six feet from Leva Famke? Like what if she wants to give you a running hug? Well, she's safety first. We can't do that. TMLX 7 hopefully is post-pandemic and we can hug the shit out of each other. Orgasm booth.
Starting point is 01:28:01 Oh, here it is. I think I found it here. Oh, it says. What I I think I found it Here Wait oh It says What a lovely night For a mask and So fuck Van Morrison I guess
Starting point is 01:28:15 I will say I love his music But he's long been Sort of known as one Of the kind of Pricks of music Like a Roger Waters type Yeah he's been
Starting point is 01:28:24 But like worse, though. But he was also a notorious alcoholic, right? Who's better? Van... Who do you like better? Big Van Vader. Van Morrison. Van Morrison or Van Halen?
Starting point is 01:28:34 Oh, they're both good artists. Van Morrison or Van Damme? Or Van Hammer. Jean-Claude Van Damme. Okay, so I think it has something to do with the B-side of the single, Cold Wind in August, because the B-side of the single Cold Wind in August because the B-side of the single
Starting point is 01:28:46 in 1977 was... No, no, no. Cold Wind in August, whatever that song was, was the B-side for this song. Right. You're reading that wrong. But in 1977,
Starting point is 01:28:54 yes, in Moondance. So Moondance comes out in 77. The B-side is Cold Wind in August, but Cold Wind in August is on the album that was released in 1977, a period of transition. Yes, right.
Starting point is 01:29:04 So it's weird. It's like he brought an old hit to sell the single. It wasn't a hit in 70. Not, okay. Interesting. We need to get some clarification on this. But the album is called Moondance, is it not? Yeah, the album wasn't a hit.
Starting point is 01:29:19 Okay. Okay. Chill. He's angry. Fucking assholes. All right. We haven't had... I actually...
Starting point is 01:29:26 Bougie, you still there? I just want to point something out, okay? We have had three songs from Cam Gordon. Someone laying underneath a ladder. Might be her. We've had three songs from Cam Gordon. Two... Sorry.
Starting point is 01:29:40 One of them is Canadian. We've had three songs by Stu Stone. None of them are Canadian. I'm about to play my third song, and all three of mine mine are canadian wow this better be a tragically hip song it's not okay it's like billy talent or something yeah is it i can't believe i got that kind of like them Is this like their most recent single? No, it's from 06. Is this a saga jam? Yeah, it's streets, though.
Starting point is 01:30:22 I kind of like this one. It's like Green Day-ish Yeah I'm going to download some Billy Talent songs Try Honesty man That was a great That was the first big They were a big deal Remember they played
Starting point is 01:30:42 They would headline New York Ancestors I saw them headline an edge fest at Downsview Park. And they were fantastic. I saw them open for Guns N' Roses and they were good. And they're named after Hardcore Logo's character, Billy Talent, who had two L's in talent. That's right. And that was the... Callum Keith Remington.
Starting point is 01:31:01 Is it a cover song or is this an original? No, it's an original. This is an original song. What's the name of this song, Mike? Fallen Leaves. Fallen Leaves. Another fun fact, which I think we all know, but the lead vocalist here, he's great,
Starting point is 01:31:13 is, I want to say the last name properly, I've been practicing, Benjamin... Kowal? Kowal. Kowalczyk. Kowalczyk. I fucked that up so bad. Kowalczyk.
Starting point is 01:31:24 Polish. We'll just call it polish but sure he worked of course famously i guess suppose he was working at cfny that's right yeah and there's a huge kind of connection between cfny and billy talent and again you mentioned mississauga but you know just like when you're from mimico you don't say oh i'm from toronto you say i'm from mimico when you're from streetsville you don't say you oh, I'm from Toronto. You say, I'm from Mimico. When you're from Streetsville, you don't say you're from Mississauga. You say you're from Streetsville. Streetsville, that's a cool place to be from. Like, I'm from Streetsville.
Starting point is 01:31:50 It sounds like I'm almost made up, kind of like the Sharks and the Jets would be doing war, like knife fight there. I'm with you. I like to say I'm from... Which is the song that's like, need more friends with wings. Okay, let's do this. Need more friends with wings. let's okay let's do this the uh oh yeah i remember that's billy talent yeah that is billy talent so here let me just tell you the singles that you heard on uh with butterfly wings yeah that's right these are the songs you would
Starting point is 01:32:16 have heard on uh cf and y the first big one is called try honesty i know that one okay the x i don't know that one nothing to lose iose, I think is what you're singing there. Oh, Nothing to Lose. Yeah, where's that? That came out in 04. How is that not considered like a star song? I'm looking at their album here. This was their second album.
Starting point is 01:32:35 Try Honesty, Line in the Galvan River Below. Devil in a Midnight Mass. That's on this album. So this album is called Billy Talent 2. That's how they were naming him for a bit there. And Fallen Leaves and then Surrender. And then what? You called Billy Talent 2. That's how they were naming him for a bit there. And Fallen Leaves and then Surrender. And then what? You got Billy Talent 3.
Starting point is 01:32:49 You might remember Rusted from the Rain. It was a big CFNY hit. I remember St. Veronica, Devil on My Shoulder. This was also a radio hit. A lot of devil songs. Yeah. So, I mean, Viking Death March. Just kidding.
Starting point is 01:33:02 They're great. You should have them on the show. I actually have had conversations with Ben about coming on, and it is going to happen at some point. It needs to happen. They're great. They're a really great band. Can you say his last name for me?
Starting point is 01:33:12 Conor Walchuk. Okay, thank you. Why am I struggling so much with that? If I can say Poluskiewicz, you think I could say Conor Walchuk? Yeah. Who's Steve Conor Walchuk? I thought he was a hockey player. Hockey player.
Starting point is 01:33:22 Toronto Maple Leafs. No. Was he? Yeah. What era? Steve Conor Walchuk? I thought he was a hockey player. Hockey player. Toronto Maple Leafs. No. Was he? Yeah. What era? Steve Konowalczyk? Possibly like a Chicago Blackhawk. Aren't you thinking of Chris Costopoulos?
Starting point is 01:33:30 Also. Steve Konowalczyk. I feel like he was like Capitals or something. Clark Griswold. Oh, right. Right, right, right, right. So, yeah, that song. Dale Howardchuck passed away.
Starting point is 01:33:40 Yeah. Yeah, that's cancer. That's terrible. Wendell Clark. He was great, yeah. Konowalczyk, maybe a Buffalo Sabre? Steve Konowalczyk. That's terrible. Wendell Coyne. He was great, yeah. Conor Walchuk, maybe a Buffalo Sabre. Steve Conor Walchuk.
Starting point is 01:33:48 That Devil at a Midnight Mass was really good. Now, I'm just thinking about this album, by the way, Billy Talent 2, which included Fall and Leave, came out in June 2006. So you're now going back
Starting point is 01:33:59 14 years, if you can believe it, for Fall and Leave. But yeah, they were hard. I know you said Green Day, but they're actually harder than Green Day. Well, you said that song had a Green Day vibe to it. Yeah, it's true, that pop punk stuff.
Starting point is 01:34:09 Okay, yeah, Connor Walchuk was Capitals in Avalanche. Is that on your phone? Yeah, that's his phone. Well done, Stuart. Actually, I'm curious if Spotify has these new Van Morrison songs. This is going to be like a new category. Do we run these songs? Do we not?
Starting point is 01:34:28 Like Van Morrison, a great legacy artist. No, I think it's health and safety first. You can't air these songs. It could influence the stupid people. There's a lot of stupid people, and we're learning. There are lots of stupid people. Mike, I hate to say you sort of touched on it. I'm just curious how many more artists and just famous people and athletes
Starting point is 01:34:42 are going to have these opinions where, you know, whether it's Noel Gallagher, Van Morse, or we're seeing it, you know, it's like a big voice on Twitter that Cam Gordon, no Aubrey Huff. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:51 He's a real piece of shit. I heard he's a piece of shit. Yeah. Like it's, it's, you know, all these people from our past are just like, Curt Schilling was like one of the first guys where you're like,
Starting point is 01:34:59 cause you kind of liked him and root, you know, the blood on the sock and all this and then shut down the Jays. Right. Right. Three world series. We won that world series. Okay. So we're doing great guys Shut down the J's. We won that World Series. We're doing great, guys.
Starting point is 01:35:08 Fall and Leaves. Great, great autumn jam. Good pick. Great category. It's been going very well and there's some good jams to come. I said it was like dog shit. Dog shit category. Put that on the list. We'll do dog shit songs.
Starting point is 01:35:22 Well, there's the skinny pug. Songs about shit. Shit songs. I want to do the suicide song. list will be dog shit songs well there's the skinny dog shit yeah dookie shit songs shit songs right after my i want to do suicide songs well there was a song by skinny puppy called dog shit well i think chris shepard spun that one night yeah for sure noah is like a singer i think there was a video for it a while okay so let's get to the fourth jam because i gotta get to tmlx6 at some point even though i don't know what day this is this could be monday who knows but okay here we go i gotta clip out these blank spots at the beginning remember i
Starting point is 01:35:51 love you oh this is like a different version but you sent me this link is it okay that's okay i wish you didn't have to go now oh is this uh the leon from the leon's commercial don't pay a cent to that. I guess it's not. Is it the right song? Yeah, it was just a different intro. Okay, do you know this? You've never heard this?
Starting point is 01:36:34 Maybe I'll know when I hear the chorus. I'm not sure if you will. Okay, what year is it from? Like 1940? 63? It's from close. August 1964. Sounds like a 60s. Yeah, so this is the Shangri-Las.
Starting point is 01:36:46 Ah, yes. It's just like Leader of the Pack. Same band, different song. Yeah, because it's the same voice. Yeah. Okay, here comes kind of the low chorus. Maybe you'll recognize this. Walking in the sand.
Starting point is 01:37:00 Walking in the sand. Remember, I remember walking in the sand. That's the song. Nothing? I don't know anything about leaves changing colors. It sounds really cool. I'm just trying to find the sand. Remember, I remember walking in the sand. What's the name of the song? Nothing? I know, it sounds really cool. I'm just trying to find the autumn. Yeah, let's listen. Hold on.
Starting point is 01:37:14 The seagull is in here. It's remembering like summer's gone by. I remember walking in the sand. This is the guy that came up with this topic. I remember walking in the sand. This is the guy that came up with this topic. Is there a line in this song that definitively states it's an autumn song? What's the song called? It's called Remember.
Starting point is 01:37:36 Exceedingly implied. Okay, you know what? This is as bad as the expose. Oh, stop it. Seriously, this guy picked the category. This is your topic, Cam. This is some Wendell Clark YouTube type, stop it. Seriously, these are two. This guy picked the category. This is your topic, Cam. This is some like Wendell Clark YouTube type shit right here. No, it's not.
Starting point is 01:37:49 No, it's not. I stand by that. What does this have to do with autumn? It's a song of longing. I remember walking in the sand. I remember summer. But what makes that autumn? It's the sand between my fucking toes.
Starting point is 01:37:58 It could be winter. It could be winter. It's not spring and she's remembering. Because she's taught. You know what I'll say? I hear seagulls. That's not I'll say? I hear seagulls. That's not autumn. Seagulls are summer.
Starting point is 01:38:09 She's remembering seagulls. I told you it was a shit topic. It's a good topic, but Cam's mocking the system. I was going to pick See you in September. Would have been a great choice. That's a summer song.
Starting point is 01:38:24 See you in September. In have been a great choice. That's a summer song. No, see you in September. See you in September. Yeah, in the fall. Currently it's summer, so I'll see you in September. It's a fall song. Oh my God, you guys are... So tell us, why is this a fall song? Other than her, she remembers sand between her toes.
Starting point is 01:38:36 That sounds like she's remembering summer, not fall. It's a summer song. She's remembering summer in the fall. Okay, tell us your fun facts. I want to know, like, Cam, I think you've been waiting 27 weeks for an excuse to play that song. I love that song.
Starting point is 01:38:52 It's a great song. I'm shocked you guys have never heard it. You're trying to shoehorn it into this topic. No, I'm not. He picked this topic. Like, I admit, there was a... I would have done five songs about walking fucking sand if I wanted to do that.
Starting point is 01:39:05 I would have said yes to that category. Sandy Beach. Pokemon, or Cowgirl in the Sand by Neil Young. Oh my God, yeah. Yeah, there's a lot. I think he wrote that the same night he wrote Cinema Girl. Actually, beach songs would be fun. Yeah, beach songs would be great,
Starting point is 01:39:15 but you got to do that when summer's coming. What was the name of that song? That falls into... Remember. Although, remember I played Jane's Addiction up the beach and Stu almost shanked me. He was so upset. I'm a little upset, too.
Starting point is 01:39:27 Oh, come on. Stop it. Two of your four songs are completely what I would call inconclusive. Okay. There's no evidence they're autumn songs. Okay. That's two out of four. But the way you live your life, you're going to go youtube.com and find like pirated fan videos
Starting point is 01:39:46 and say oh it's a motion picture it's a film the cinema what the hell are you talking about no fucking is he okay how many great lakes are you deep there okay i'm drinking coffee anyway i don't see anything even on like you do you want some fun no but there's some very you know played on the song? Tell me. Billy fucking Joel, okay? Is that right? Now you've got my attention. You guys aren't interested.
Starting point is 01:40:13 Billy Joel did play on the song. That's cool. Do you want to talk about some Aerosmith covers? No, you guys aren't interested. Mummikin, that was on Lies. That was really interesting. Do you want to talk about Dick Fox? Do you know Dick Fox? Richard Fox? I you know Dick Fox? Richard Fox. I know Dick Cheese.
Starting point is 01:40:28 A man named... The song was even released in December of that year. Yeah, because she's in winter and she's thinking about summer. You don't think about summer and fall. You think about summer and winter when you're far removed. Do you want to talk about Marianne Ganzer from the Shangri-Las? Died of a heroin overdose at age 69
Starting point is 01:40:46 at the age of 22. Oh, no. Like, the Shangri-Las, they have a fascinating story. Yeah. You guys don't seem at all interested in this stuff.
Starting point is 01:40:54 No, I really like... You know, I'm just going to put my fun facts away. Oh, no, I want to hear them. They better be fun. No, next song. No, please. You're being a baby.
Starting point is 01:41:02 He's being a bit of a son. Just because I just Googled the word autumn songs and I don't see that song. I do see Seasons Changed by Exposé, so you being a baby. He's being a bit of a son. Just because I just googled the word autumn songs and I don't see that song. I do see Seasons Changed by Exposé, so you get a credit for that. Oh, he does? I do see that, but I don't see this. I'd like to hear some fun facts. The Billy Joel thing blows my mind.
Starting point is 01:41:15 I'll say this. I'm not going to be treated like this. You're going to redeem yourself with your fifth jam. Billy Joel's a fun fact. Is there another fun fact that's on that level? I've already said too much. Next song, Mike. Is this a fall song?
Starting point is 01:41:32 Sure. This is a fall jam. Alright, everybody, get onto the dance floor. Dinner's now over. It's like Brian Masters spinning the jambalaya. Come on in. Stewart's Bar Mitzvah. Do you remember? Now this is a remember song
Starting point is 01:41:49 August to September 21st day of September yeah and maybe you confused your song with this song no I stand by my picks I always do
Starting point is 01:42:01 he's gonna chase the clouds away come on guys let's crank it it's a pop Stand by my picks. I always do. He's going to chase the clouds away. Come on, guys. Let's crank it. It's a bop. In the key that souls are singing As we dance in the night Remember how the stars roll the night away Stu's dancing on the table right now.
Starting point is 01:42:21 Get your drunk ass home I mean, this song really is much more of a clear, concise autumn song they're remembering as well. Sure. But this time they're actually remembering the first day of fall. Yeah, and also, you know, hanging at the beach, walking in the sand, but whatever. This is indisputably an autumn jam. in, but whatever. This is indisputably a autumn jam.
Starting point is 01:42:44 Yeah. Good choice. This song reached number one in the United States of America on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. Number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. Number three on the UK Singles chart. September. Earth, Wind, and Fucking Fire. Big jam.
Starting point is 01:43:00 This is a big jam. Written by vocalist Maurice White. Passed away a few years ago? A lot of people think of the great Philip Bailey when they think of vocals from Earth, Wind & Fire. It's like an Easy Lover. Because he did the Easy Lover song with
Starting point is 01:43:14 Billy Collins. But Maurice White, come on man. There's a one-two punch like a Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt one-two punch. One of the great hairlines. Like Rico Kasich and Ben Orr. Peter Cetera and whoever else.
Starting point is 01:43:32 Eric Carman. All by myself. I got a funny song. I got a fun fact on this one. About Eric Carman? No, about this song. We just kicked him out with Bob Ouellette. Bingo Bob Ouellette.
Starting point is 01:43:43 We kicked out that radio song. Is he, he's, he's the Trump supporter? Am I imagining that? Oh, I don't know. Or is that Peter Cetera? Written by Al McKay,
Starting point is 01:43:53 Maurice Wright, and Ali Willis. Willis was initially bothered by the gibberish Badia lyric, where it says, Badia, how did you remember?
Starting point is 01:44:04 Sorry, define bothered. That badia? Yeah. The badia. Right, because it's gibberish, you're telling me. He was bothered by the gibberish lyric that White used throughout the song and begged him to rewrite it.
Starting point is 01:44:17 I said, quote, What the fuck does badia mean? And he essentially said, quote, Who the fuck cares? End quote. I learned my greatest lesson ever in songwriting from him that day,
Starting point is 01:44:29 which was never to let a lyric get in the way of the groove. Oh my God. The song was included in the band's first compilation, Earth, Wind & Fire. Good lesson. Weston Power.
Starting point is 01:44:38 But yeah, fucking great band. Great song. Love the band. Love the song. Do we know, because there was something called Earth, Wind & Fire that tours. Like, is this like two original members?
Starting point is 01:44:49 Yeah, there's a lot of, and also one of my buddies is the guitar player in the band. You would recognize him as the only white guy on the stage. Wow. His name is Serge. He's a fantastic guitar player. Serge Aboska. He plays with them. It's his birthday today.
Starting point is 01:45:00 Oh, the chef. Philip Bailey's son is in the band now now and there's the original bass players there. Yeah. They're there. It's really awesome. The music is incredible. Love it. Can you name the biggest
Starting point is 01:45:10 Earth, Wind & Fire hit? Probably You're a Shining Star. Correct. That is it. Because a lot of people think it might be in September.
Starting point is 01:45:20 Let's Groove is a great song as well. And After the Love is Gone went to number two. Written by Let's Groove number two. David Foster.. And After the Love is Gone went to number two. Written by David Foster. CanCon. That's like an 80s song, right? Great song, though.
Starting point is 01:45:32 And the last song they had to chart... Boogie Wonderland? No, they had a song in 1993 called Sunday Morning that hit number 53 on the US Hot 100. If Casey Kasem isn't going to say your name, forget about it. It never happened here. Good jam. Are you guys ready for my fourth jam?
Starting point is 01:45:54 Yes. Is this another Canadian jam? Irish. This is U2? Correct. See, I told you it's a shit category. I thought this was an instrumental song because it's like no singing comes in
Starting point is 01:46:14 for like three minutes. Gives me an opportunity to say this song is called October. And it's from the album of the same name. 1981's October. And this song, as you'll hear, is a different sounding U2 song. It's almost instrumental, as Stu mentioned there. This was also a hidden track on the Best Of 1980-1990 compilation that U2 put out.
Starting point is 01:46:43 80 to 1990 compilation that U2 put out. October reflects the spiritual turmoil of the band at the time. It was written during which three of the band members were wrestling with weather. Oh, I like wrestling. Being members of a rock band was consisting of their Christian beliefs. This is what Bono said of October. October, it's an image. I won't do his accent. That was pretty good.
Starting point is 01:47:05 We've been through the 60s, a time when things were in full bloom. Does he mention the Shangri-Las? We had fridges and cars. We sent people to the moon. Was he walking in the sand?
Starting point is 01:47:14 And everybody thought how great mankind was. And now as we go through the 70s and 80s, it's a colder time of the year. It's after the harvest. Talk about gibberish. Trees are stripped bare.
Starting point is 01:47:24 You can see things and we finally realize that maybe we aren't so smart after all. Now there's millions of unemployed people. Now we use the technology we've been blessed with to build bombs for war machines
Starting point is 01:47:41 to build rockets, whatever. So October is an ominous word. What a buzzkill. Sorry, he said this when he wrote the song? Yeah, he said this of the song. Okay. Anyway, I feel like shit looks like this.
Starting point is 01:48:04 Like we just heard the earth, wind, and fire. Now we're going to slit our wrists. We're bopping. Right. Short song, heavy song. It's over, man. October. He's so disappointed.
Starting point is 01:48:16 That was a hidden track on which album? On the best of 1980 to 1990. Remember they did the best of 80 to 90 and the 90 to 2000 or whatever? So that was a hidden track on the best of 80 to 90. the 90 to 2000 or whatever? So that was a hidden track on the best of 89. And that was on the album the 1981 album October. Better than anything on Zoropa. Disco Tech.
Starting point is 01:48:33 Who's the guy who loved Disco Tech? David Alter. That's right. One of his favorite songs of all time is U2's Disco Tech. Happy New Year David. Shannatova. Former Twitter canon. I said Shannatova. Yes. Former Twitter canon. I said Shannatova to Ralph Ben-Murgy yesterday, to Mark Hebbshire this morning,
Starting point is 01:48:49 and Dana Levinson this morning. And Stu Stone. And Stu Stone. So that's four. That Shane Rilez song was not a false song. And it does feel like... It does feel like what? You picked this category,
Starting point is 01:48:59 just like when you picked the category so you could play the Winter Games song, which actually that one was great. But the Shady Moon Less song is a spooky song and that chorus should be sampled by like Tyler the Creator or something. Probably has. But I don't see how that's an autumn song. It's a matter of opinion.
Starting point is 01:49:15 We agree to disagree. Do you think that it's an autumn song for real? Yeah, straight up. I feel like it is and maybe I'm wrong. But why do you think it is? It's a song of remembrance of summer times. Yeah, straight up. I feel like it is, and maybe I'm wrong. But why do you think it is? Why? It's a song of remembrance of summer times. Okay.
Starting point is 01:49:30 And that's autumn to you. But what does autumn have to do with that? I'm saying, in my opinion, that's when people do that. Summer's now over. I remember walking. She's talking about her lover, like, leaving town. It's more of a wintertime thing to think about summer. We agree to disagree
Starting point is 01:49:45 but you're going to redeem yourself now with your final selection I think Stu's going to eat this too okay here we go do you know this song?
Starting point is 01:49:53 not by title is this your number one choice? they're not right I don't like how they they're misspelling a word in the title it's upsetting me over here yeah it's a little frustrating
Starting point is 01:50:04 here we go. Here we go. touched. I love you, well, never mind. I've been crying all the time. December boys got it bad. December boys got it bad. December boys? September. Oh, December boys?
Starting point is 01:50:38 So this is September Girls by the Dirty Nill. Now, do you guys know the Dirty Nil? I feel like they're on like Indie 88 and stuff. I feel like Dave Hodge was trying to turn me on to the Dirty Nil. They're sort of in the
Starting point is 01:50:53 ilk with like that band Pup. Like some of these more sort of contemporary Canadian guitar acts you hear on Indie 88 and Edge 102. Is this a current song? Yeah, I mean this was like from a couple of years ago. This is a cover of the song September Girls by the band Big Star.
Starting point is 01:51:14 Oh, yeah, David Chilton. Yeah, Alex Chilton. Alex Chilton, right. That seems like a Dave Hodge band. Right. Yeah, from the Box Tops or something. That's right. He sang The letter most famously
Starting point is 01:51:25 when he's like 12 years old right um so dirty nil are a band out of hamilton so again get played a lot on the radio they seem to be pretty popular i feel like they're you know like the ark hills yeah hamilton's bright lights yeah um so yeah so they put a bunch of stuff on spotify a bunch of covers including this song. This song, the original by Big Star is from like early 70s or so. Wow. And Big Star are a band that like influenced
Starting point is 01:51:52 kind of R.E.M. and stuff, like power pop. And expensive jeans. Jordache, is that expensive? Exhaust. Yes, yes. But do we know that Big's a big September Girls? Like this is one. Big Star, their most famous song is probably the song that was the theme song for that 70s show.
Starting point is 01:52:11 Oh, yeah. Which was covered, I think like was the Cheap Trick version of that song. Cheap Trick did cover, yeah, right. Out in the street, in the street, out in the street. Hanging out. Yeah, so that was Big Star. But yeah, I mean, Alex Chilton, most famous for The Letter. Yeah, anyway, short, low brisk cover. But yeah, I mean, Alex Chilton, most famous for the letter. Um,
Starting point is 01:52:25 yeah. Anyway, short, low brisk cover. September girls. Great song. Thought I'd mix it up. Important though, for people who are Googling it,
Starting point is 01:52:32 girls is spelled G U R L S. And Cam scored a whopping 40% on this category. Okay. Well, two out of five. Was this an autumn song? I guess. I guess.
Starting point is 01:52:44 Definitely an autumn song. And, uh, three out of five. Was this an autumn song? I guess. I guess. Definitely an autumn song. And three out of five. Five for five. No, I'm giving him Hayden and Wyclef, and that's it. You're not giving him September Girls? I guess so. How could you not give him September Girls? Because it could be early September.
Starting point is 01:52:56 Oh, my God. Oh, my God. See, the Earth, Wind, and Fire song specifically says the 21st of September. They're actually referring to fall. This song is September 1st. But then how do we give you Green Day? Oh, because it ends. Waste me up all. They're actually referring to fall. This song is September 1st. How do we give you green days? Oh, because it ends in its fall. You're right.
Starting point is 01:53:11 Again, to your point, how do you know it's not any time after September? Well, it could be, but I think there's a lot more of a compelling argument to be made. And speaking of which... I think there's a fucking compelling argument. Seasons change. Talk about her lover. That's awful. Have you seen the video? She's got a about her lover. That's awful. Have you seen the video?
Starting point is 01:53:26 She's got a fucking sweater on. She's chilly. Oh my God. You guys are... I think this is a good topic because of the debate. I'm going to recant. I'm going to go lie under the fucking ladder. I'm going to recant.
Starting point is 01:53:38 He's going to jump off the ladder. He's giving you expose. I'm giving you expose just based on the sweater being worn in the video. Thank you. Thank you. Remember Marin Cadell, the sweater? Yeah. Is that an autumn song?
Starting point is 01:53:49 Sweater Weezers? She transitioned. She's a living, she's a man. Yeah. He's a man. Sorry. He's a man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:55 Careful. Now, let's talk about. I was thinking 1993, Maren. Would Weezer, the sweater song. Cam has had a song. Yeah. Yeah. I was going to pick that song.
Starting point is 01:54:03 We should do sweater songs. Sweater songs. We're missing the obvious. Sweater Weather by pick that song. We should do sweater songs. Sweater songs. We're missing the obvious. There's Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood. Oh, and Jack Johnson. Doesn't he have a sweater song? Better When We're Together Wearing a Sweater. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:14 I don't know. Richard, what's his name? Dreyfus. No, he has like Sweat Into the Oldies. Richard Simmons. Richard Simmons. Dick Simmons. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:25 Cam has, one of Cam's troublesome songs was a song that was about reflecting on a season that wasn't autumn. It was about summer. So this next song. I feel like Stu's just doing schtick and he's going to like fucking frustrate us here. No, no. This next song is really... It's a song we've heard before.
Starting point is 01:54:47 We heard a different version. So this song first appeared on the Songs We Didn't Know Were Covers episode, I believe. And the cover version... Now, I can't wait to play this because I've got a challenge. I feel like we're getting set up here.
Starting point is 01:54:57 You ready for a big one? Because it may seem obvious, but then I'm going to point out another fact about this. No, I understand that they say it's on a winter's day, but they're reminiscing the same way as Cam is about leaves
Starting point is 01:55:08 turn, all the leaves. Spoiler. Go ahead and listen. Okay. A winter's day. Yeah, I got that. Okay. Just checking. I'm okay with that. Are you? I'm not. The leaves being brown and the sky is
Starting point is 01:55:24 gray. In California, leaves turn brown in winter No they're off the tree I live there I have no idea So this guy's going for a walk on a winter's day in New York Reminiscing about autumn in California Oh my god Are you fucking
Starting point is 01:55:39 If I was in LA Read the fucking Wikipedia I did I'd rather not. On such a winter's day. Winter's day. This. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:54 Awful fucking song. Yeah. It's a great song. Honestly, it's a great song. I mean, listen, I thought all the leaves are brown and the skies are great. That's what made it an autumn song to me. And it's obviously. It's problematic
Starting point is 01:56:05 but less problematic than the Shangri-Las I would say. I've swallowed a lot of shit on this episode. This man, and I use that term lightly because this is not the choice of a real man. Honestly, you're insulting Mike because Mike chose this song and I
Starting point is 01:56:21 actually swapped him nearly, I actually swapped Harvest Moon Neil Young which I had for this song. I swapped actually swapped him. I actually swapped Harvest Moon Neil Young, which I had for this song. I swapped it with him. Can you show? Wow. So are you insulting me or Mike? Okay. Your hero, Mike.
Starting point is 01:56:34 He picked this song. Your hero. That swaps the pod. The pod god. This man is not my hero, for one thing. Let's be clear about that. This is Mike's choice, not Stu. Mike. Okay. We swapped. I had Harvest clear about that. Not Stu. Mike.
Starting point is 01:56:47 We swapped. I had Harvest Moon, Neil Young, we traded. We did a swap. We did a trade. I got Neil Young in exchange for Moms and Poppins. And direct your anger at him. All the leaves are brown and the sky is green. And then Mike has the audacity to turn around and try to question it on me when he picked the song.
Starting point is 01:57:03 This is typical Mike. Typical Mike. Yeah. Typical Mike. There's no other season where all the leaves are brown. But you were just trying to question me for this selection. It's your selection, you son of a bitch. Like literally on a winter's day. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:57:19 He sounds like he's doing the suicidal tendencies institutionalized when he did that yelling rant. It was right on. I think he seriously can't hear. All I want is Pepsi. All I want is a Pepsi. California Dreaming a song written
Starting point is 01:57:31 by John Phillips and Michelle Phillips was recorded the best known version by the Mamas and Papas. That's the one we're listening to. The original version
Starting point is 01:57:39 is the one we listened to previously. Right. Interesting stuff that I want to say. Okay, I'm going to save Mike. That is a classic legendary jam. I'm going to save this episode right now.
Starting point is 01:57:52 Peter Gross loves it. I'm going to save Mike's reputation for picking that song. Loves the ponies too. You can follow what I'm saying? I'm going to save Mike's reputation. I'm going to save your anger for that song. And I'm going to save the day right now with a mind blow. Okay. Now we know that this song, the Mamas in the Pops version is a cover of a song that they wrote. We've been through that.
Starting point is 01:58:10 This song has been covered over a hundred times by bands like R.E.M. That was just one I could think of off the top of my head if you've heard of them. But California Dreamin' is a very it's a very recorded song it's an iconic song it's an iconic song yeah and one of the covers that you probably
Starting point is 01:58:30 haven't heard before oh I would like to play and have Cam try to figure out who the artist is oh yeah I like this I like this
Starting point is 01:58:36 that is covering the song and I think that might be a future topic like can you guess who's covering the song or whatever but this is gonna save the episode
Starting point is 01:58:43 I like this game I like this game song went to number one by the way who's covering the song or whatever, but this is going to save the episode. I like this game. Song went to number one, by the way. All the leaves are brown And the sky is gray I've been for a while On a winter's day I'd be safe in the fall Song charted in Germany.
Starting point is 01:59:11 Yeah, the song was number one in Germany. Oh. Is this David Hasselhoff? It is. Okay, very good. But it didn't really go to number one. No, very good. I was going to say, it's very schmaltzy.
Starting point is 01:59:27 1993, David Hasselhoff, star of Knight Rider, Baywatch, SpongeBob the movie. Viral videos, drunkenly eating cheeseburgers. In 1993, he released the single Pingu Dance based on the children's show Pingu. In 1994, he was scheduled to perform a concert. Are you guys ready for this? Including this song, California Dreamin'. on a pay-per-view from Atlantic City. The concert was expected to help his singing career in the United States.
Starting point is 01:59:50 They were predicting to make millions of dollars in European orders on this David Hasselhoff singing pay-per-view special. Guess what happened on the same night? Wait, wait, wait. What year are we in? 1993. The night of the pay-per-view. Give me a moment.
Starting point is 02:00:06 Everything's going well. Until everyone changes the channel because OJ Simpson. But that, was that 93? Yes. Was that like 95 or something? Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. The pay-per-view was in 94. In 93 he released the album.
Starting point is 02:00:19 Right, because they did that 30 for 30 about the day of the OJ thing. In 1994 he was scheduled, as I said, to perform a concert on pay-per-view. A lot was happening that night, as we know. Well, we know that David Hasselhoff's pay-per-view took a deep shit that night. I'm sure it would have been massively successful. Viewership of the concert was significantly lower as a result, and eventually Hasselhoff lost $1.5 million. Wow.
Starting point is 02:00:42 Hasselhoff joked that 90 million people watched OJ and three people watched me, including my mom and my dad. Here's his version of California Dreamin', not an autumn song, a winter song that was picked by Mike. Laptop close. He's done, like dinner. You can totally hear it's Hasselhoff. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:07 I mean, this sounds like it would be on a CD you buy at like Dollarama, just like famous re-recorded versions of famous songs by just like session musicians. Like what's the point? Like what a pointless cover. It's been covered so many times. What's the point of anything, really? Okay, good. That's deep bro.
Starting point is 02:01:28 Why are we bothered? That was junk but that was fun. Stu's already started the car so. I saved the day guys. Come on.
Starting point is 02:01:34 Let me close this out with one of my favorite autumn. Is this a tragically hip song? Oh. Nope. Oh. Oh. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like the White Stripes are coming.
Starting point is 02:02:06 It's like the White Stripes. Jack White wrote this song. He's, of course, the vocalist, the guitarist. This is from the very successful White Blood Cells. White Blood Cells, of course, had a bunch of big hits, including a song I played with and for Colin DeMello last week. Or was that this week? Oh, my God, that was this week.
Starting point is 02:03:15 So Colin DeMello came over to kick out the jams, and one of his jams was, of course, Fell in Love with a girl from this album. So this is Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground. Great album. This is, you know, great album. The same person that worked with the White Stripes on their marketing and their digital marketing, one of their sort of A&Rs at the time is the same lady that signed
Starting point is 02:03:45 Jamie Kenney and Stewstone. So we were label mates with the White Stripes for a couple years. Never met them, but definitely worked with the same team that they worked with. That's unbelievable. Michael, almost all your choices had to do with leaves. You had dead leaves on there, you had fallen leaves.
Starting point is 02:04:02 Yeah, like all the leaves are brown or down or whatever the fuck. I also had Harvest Moon and October and Autumn in New York. I think two of my songs are about leaves. By the way, one of your songs was about sand. Mike, unrelated, what's with the caulking gun? Like you have a caulking gun sitting on you. You know how your dryer has to have a vent to escape the home and blow the hot air out?
Starting point is 02:04:24 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Our thing that covers that broke. So Monica and I tag-teamed this project where we... Tag-teamed it with some caulking. Right. So you have to remove the old caulking, and then you have to kind of place it and do the whole thing, and then you have to re-caulk it.
Starting point is 02:04:38 So rain and... So you're saying you caulk it, then re-caulk it. Right. So there was a lot of... You got to caulk it. You got to-cock it. Right. So there was a lot of You gotta cock it before you cock it. Are you going to bring that cock to
Starting point is 02:04:47 the TMLX? But there was Monique and I did a lot of cocking this week. You know the kids are back in school now so she's working
Starting point is 02:04:56 from home. That might be a new one on the way. You keep shooting that cock gun. She has a couple months left because my appointment my vasectomy
Starting point is 02:05:04 is December 17th. You better doectomy, is December 17th. You better do some cocking. December 17th. We need a theme that week. Live on pay-per-view. Songs about balls. Like scissors. Like the Scissor Sisters.
Starting point is 02:05:14 Songs about parents. Oh, parenting. Yeah, actually, that'd be good. Vasectomy songs. Yeah, Scissor Sisters is a good example. Although, do you know what that... Well... Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 02:05:22 I do. You know who else knows? Bojaja knows. It's Bojana. There's the band Tribe 8, too. Do you know, like, they were, like, how the... Tattoo. Tattoo. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. This is a slippery slope.
Starting point is 02:05:38 Guys, thanks so much for being here. I know Stu's got religious things to do. Happy New Year, guys. I'm going to give a shout-out to you, And Cam has no good excuse for skipping TMLX6. I'm waiting calls. It's disheartening. Like, I'm sad. I don't know what else to say.
Starting point is 02:05:53 I'm just straight up sad. Tim Richards. And that. What is this? 723? Yeah, what is it? This is a fall song. Everything is rosy and gray.
Starting point is 02:06:09 Yeah. Oh, my God. But there's a smell of snow. I feel like it's a winter song. But we can talk about that next week. And that brings us to the end of our 723rd show. You can follow me on Twitter. I'm at Toronto Mike.
