Starting point is 00:01:16 And Ryobi Join the cordless revolution With Ryobi's 18 volt 1 plus system There are 260 tools in the system, and it's available at Home Depot. Joining me this week to kick out the power tool jams is Director of Marketing at Tektronic Industries, Becky Yan. Welcome, Becky. Hi, Mike. How's it going? Good. I need to, right off the top, understand Tektronic Industries.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Firstly, nothing to do with Technotronic. No, not at all. You're not a former member of Technotronic. I do like the band, though. Yeah, because your name is Yan, and her name was Ya Kid K. That could be related, but no. That's true. Okay. And now tell me, because I need to know from my LinkedIn profile here, how is Tektronik Industries related to RYOBI? Tektronik is the parent company of several
Starting point is 00:02:11 different consumer brands. So RYOBI falls under it. It's similar to, if you think of Procter & Gamble as the parent company of Tide and all the fabulous cleaning products. I got to give them for you. Alphabet. Yes. To Google. Exactly. Or Meta. Exactly. To Instagram. I'm on board now. Okay, good. So I got the intro right. Now, did you do anything interesting last night for St. Patrick's Day? Not
Starting point is 00:02:38 really. It's okay if you didn't. Not related to St. Patrick's Day. I took my four-year-old daughter to sign up for dance class. Okay, you know what? Just say that. Was it Irish jig dancing? Actually, yes. They were doing a little bit of that in the studio. Okay, so therefore it is related
Starting point is 00:02:53 in some regard. Okay, it's exciting, but careful because my oldest daughter did the same thing at four years old and then she got told she was good and they said, okay, you need to be in competitive dance. And for the next several years, I was cutting big fat checks to the machine that is Big Dance Canada. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:13 So they were already trying to upsell me to summer camp and, you know, the fall session. Just be careful, Becky. I know. It's a slippery slope because everybody, and it turns out, I don't know, some people I trust who weren't going to blow smoke up my butt told me my daughter actually was very good. But I kept thinking some of these dancers that are told they're competitive dancers, I don't know if they're that good. Like, how bad do you have to be where they don't tap you on the shoulder and say it's time to pay up for competitive dance? They need to make money, right? So they got to pick somebody.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Maybe we should start a dance studio. Have you considered that? I'll need a couple of glasses of wine for that. I'll tell you what. You will leave here. It's very early, so you don't have to drink it now. You will leave here with some fresh craft beer from Great Lakes Brewery. That's no joke.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Actually, my husband would love that. Okay. Is that Mr. Yan? It is, yes. Mr. That's no joke. Actually, my husband would love that. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, is that Mr. Yan? It is, yes. Okay, Mr. Yan, if you're listening, and I hope you are, because if my wife was on a popular podcast, I would be listening. I just want everybody to know that.
Starting point is 00:04:15 And she might be on this one. So that's a little teaser. She might join us later in this episode. My wife, not Mr. Yan. But Mr. Yan, you are getting some delicious, fresh craft beer from Great Lakes Brewery. And while I'm doing this off the top, and then I've got to tell you
Starting point is 00:04:30 a fun story about the pronunciation of the word Ryobi. I want to give you a large lasagna. It's frozen in my freezer right now but this is courtesy of Palma Pasta. You're going home with dinner and drinks for hubby. Woohoo! Becky, it was worth the drive.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Yes, it definitely was. Worth the drive. Okay, what's my story? So, my wife, firstly, who's going to come down later in swears by the Ryobi tools. We'll get real story straight up from her later this episode. But she always called it Ryobi. I have a brother named Ryanyan i know i know so i learned early on in our relationship that it's actually ryobi and i explained my wife who then starts going to youtube and looking at the ads and then she found one from a guy with
Starting point is 00:05:17 a strange australian accent where the ryobi sounds a bit like ryobi because he's got this aussie accent and i'm like that's not like you can't cherry pick that's just not how this works but then i'm on humble and fred show because i mentioned uh i think i mentioned before the recording i produce humble and fred so i jump on there every thursday and i have a like a ryobi uh drill on my table so dan duran and listeners will know dan duran's name from tv and movies and radio and dan duran sees the box and he's he's a handy guy he's always building something uh he's building like he's retrofitting trailers up his trailer park he's doing this all the time he's a handy guy and he swears by the ryobi product line as well and then he sees it and he goes oh is ryobi a sponsor and then i explain yeah uh and
Starting point is 00:06:04 then i explain but except they they call it it's actually ryobi and dan and then i explained yeah uh and then i explained but except they call it it's actually ryobi and dan duran looks at me and he says no it's not like he's definitively certain it's not ryobi can you in your let me repeat that title director of marketing at tektronic industries becky yan for the record definitively explain to us all how you pronounce this word. R-Y-O-B-I. It is R-E-O-B. R-E-E is the phonetic spelling. And can you just give us a little, source this out. Like this is not, like you didn't just, like tell us how we know that's definitively true.
Starting point is 00:06:37 So it is a brand that's originally from Japan. And apparently that's the way they pronounce it. Okay. Then that's all, that's enough for me pronunciate it okay then that's all that's enough for me I'm so RYOBI everybody and Dan Duran I'm gonna cut out this clip and email this mp3 to you so you can hear it is actually from it
Starting point is 00:06:54 is actually RYOBI okay a couple more questions for you before we kick out the power tool jams in the song Lemonade do you know Beyonce I do love her do you know her personally I i know sasha fierce okay well that's that's good enough for me okay so in lemonade beyonce references and i think you might know where i'm going but she references becky with the good hair i'm looking at you and i think it okay so for and again for the record we've cleared up the pronunciation of Ryobi are you Becky with the good hair I try I try okay so that's you okay I always wondered
Starting point is 00:07:31 like is it what's going on there is Becky with the good hair uh is there something going on with Jay-Z what's going on you you're you're not the Becky with the good hair but you are a Becky with the good hair no because there's a backstory to Becky with the good hair. No, because there's a backstory to Becky with the good hair. If you know the song. Tell me. Well, isn't that she's accusing Jay-Z of some bad things? Right. So I just wanted to clear things up. I don't know Jay-Z. Do we know who the real,
Starting point is 00:07:54 so we don't know who the real Becky with the good hair is. You'll have to ask TMZ, unfortunately. That's right. This is TMDS. I'm in the wrong place. Okay. So another question for you, because I don't get visited often by Beckys,
Starting point is 00:08:05 but this is one I've always wondered. I watched the show Roseanne. Did you ever watch Roseanne? I did. Okay, so we all know, famously, if you will, there was a Becky played by Lacey Gerenson, I think her name is, Lacey Gerenson, and Lacey was Becky.
Starting point is 00:08:22 And then one season we tune in and it's not lacey garrison it's sarah chalk who's a canadian actress you might know from scrubs blah blah she's very good okay then i guess i don't know what happens at some point they go back to lacey garrison like they go back they switch up the beckys uh do you becky and do you have a favorite Becky Lacey or Sarah um I would say the original yeah yeah Lacey classic saying I like classic coke yeah well there must be a reason why they went back to her right so okay right I don't even know why they left her to be honest I need to do a little dig in maybe hit up the wikipedia page but okay so you're in the uh the og becky camp
Starting point is 00:09:05 uh sorry fellow canuck uh sarah chalk okay so i mentioned i'm gonna play a song this is not one of the 10 power tool jams but let me oh it's a potato quality uh audio but we're gonna hear it anyway here in a second here here I'm out. Here it comes, here it comes. Sing along if you like. So this is the Doughboys. Let me bring that down. This is the Doughboys, okay, Montreal band. And it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:10:23 So this song and why it's appropriate for this episode where we're kicking out the power tool jams, is that this song is called Fix Me. And I think it's cool. Fix me. So many things to fix around the house. We OB tools can help, and we'll talk about that. But I wanted to kick out some Doughboys just to set us up before we get into it. Because last night was toast.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Were you watching live at live.torontomike.com? Unfortunately, I wasn't. Oh, okay. You're live, by the way, right now. I just checked in. Hello to the people on live.torontomike.com right now. You're actually live on the Pirate Stream right now. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Yeah, don't worry. It's not even being recorded. You miss it, you miss it. But the audio will be following you for all eternity. FYI. No pressure. But okay. So last night we kicked out three songs we love with the same title.
Starting point is 00:11:13 So you just have to pick three songs you love and they have to share the same name. And there's a lot of good examples when you think on it. We heard, I don't want to spoil it, but I went with the songs named Shine. There's three songs I love called Shine. And one of them is Doughboy's Shine. So Fix Me and Shine might be the two biggest hits Doughboy's ever had. So I just thought I'd tie these episodes together and let people know. There's a fun episode of Toast in the feed at 10, what is it, 1016.
Starting point is 00:11:41 This here is 1017. 1016. This here is 1017. And the tie-in to the FOTM universe is that from Doughboys comes Rusty. I don't think that's your sweet spot, 90s Canadian alt-rock, right Becky? Not really.
Starting point is 00:11:56 That's okay. We should shout out somebody who does love 90s Canadian alt-rock, Michael Lang, because this is his sweet spot. If you ever go to a concert in the city and it's a 90s canadian alt rock uh michael lang because this is his sweet spot if you ever go to a concert in the city and it's a 90s canadian alt rock band or artist uh langer's gonna be there just just so you know next time you go to a rusty show or something or the watchman or whatever so rusty comes out of doughboys because scott mccullough the guitarist for
Starting point is 00:12:20 doughboys goes off and starts his own band which which is Rusty. So without Doughboys, we don't have Rusty. And then, you know, what's the point of life if we don't have Rusty? Okay, so now we're ready to kick out the jams. Should we disclose a fact that... So I chose these jams. Can we disclose that? Of course.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Okay, so you're not going to take credit for these wonderful jams. No, you take all the credit. And I have fun facts about them. And then they'll create nice segues to talk about Ryo-B. So are you ready for the first jam? Of course. All right, let's kick it. I'm so happy Cause today Found my friends And in my head
Starting point is 00:13:10 I'm so happy That's okay Cause so are you Book of years Sunday morning Is every day For all I care And I'm not scared
Starting point is 00:13:25 To light my candles In our days Cause I found God Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:13:39 Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Becky, I still love it. Clearly, I picked these jams. Are you kidding me? I still love this song here. So let's hear from you, and then I will come in with some fun facts.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Most people will know these fun facts. But some facts about the jam. This is Nirvana's Lithium. And I think that's a nice segue because lithium ion batteries. Talk to me. So it's the power that's within our batteries. And it's come a long way, our batteries. When I first started at Ryobi, we were on NICAD technology,
Starting point is 00:14:30 and, you know, things have improved since then, over 14 years ago. And now we're on lithium technology. It allows the tools to run longer, give you that longer run time, which everybody's looking for when they're in the middle of projects. Okay, so I've been talking about Ryobi for all month. Okay, so what are we now, March 18th here. So yeah, and that's a lot of episodes. It's been a heavy schedule.
Starting point is 00:14:53 And I've been talking about how the lithium, is it lithium plus battery? Yes. Okay, so lithium plus battery, four times more runtime, four times longer lasting charge and 20 percent lighter than the aforementioned nicad batteries that's right so nicad goodbye get out of here get get the heck out of here lithium plus is way better and we're going that route that's right we want more power for our projects so lithium is where it's at. And, you know, gives you the longer run time, like I mentioned. Why would you choose any other power tool?
Starting point is 00:15:33 Like, come on, give me a break here. FOTMs know this, right? So, okay. Now, you know, lithium plus battery better. Lithium by Nirvana. Like one of my favorite Nirvana songs to this day. I'm a big Nirvana guy and this is of course for those who need a little
Starting point is 00:15:49 education. This is from the second Nirvana album. It's called Nevermind. You might have heard of it. It had a song on it called Smells Like Teen Spirit. Did you ever have a moment, Becky, where you're like, I'm digging this Smells Like Teen Spirit? I do like the song. Okay, good. This is the third
Starting point is 00:16:06 single. If I remember correctly, this is off the top of my head, but I think Come As You Are is the first single. And then, because I think they think that's the hit. Like the, whatever, the record company. They're like, okay, Come As You Are is the hit. No, they're wrong. The second single is Smells Like Teen Spirit. That's the big hit.
Starting point is 00:16:22 That's what breaks Nirvana. Too bad we can't ask Kurt. Shout out to Ridley Funeral Home. Shout out to Ridley Funeral Home. I was doing notes for this episode of The Jam and I realized, oh, a lot of these singers and artists are actually gone.
Starting point is 00:16:38 So it's going to be a bittersweet episode here. But this is the third single from Nevermind. And as you listen it's got that perfect i think this song perfects that formula although smells like teen spirit has it too and rate me in a bunch of other nomada songs but quiet loud quiet loud okay it's easy to parody but i i my ears love it like i don't know if i was just groomed to love it in the because in the early 90s i'm a teenager or whatever but like that whole like I'm a sucker
Starting point is 00:17:05 and shout out to the Pixies but I'm a complete sucker for songs that do the tempo change. Like they're hard it's time to be in the mosh pit then it slows down slow way down
Starting point is 00:17:15 way down let's go hard again get that mosh pit going like I like that tempo. Well you can't be in the mosh pit the whole entire time. Yeah you need to that's what punkers got wrong.
Starting point is 00:17:25 But that's why punk songs are two minutes long. Because they realized, okay, we can't do this for five, six minutes. But okay. We're off to a roaring start here. Nirvana Lithium. We learned all about that lithium plus battery. Ryobi's okay. And I'm going to say it the way I've been saying it. And you tell me if I've nailed this, okay?
Starting point is 00:17:42 Okay. The Ryobi 18-volt, one-plus one plus high capacity lithium plus battery. Yep. That's right. Okay. You know what? I'm like, I'm sweating over here.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Partly I'm sweating because I actually said, okay, Becky's coming over. I got to wear my Ryobi hoodie, but it's hot today. Like I'm actually hot over here. Like I realized the hoodie is not like, this is a winter wear and it's,
Starting point is 00:18:04 I think we're transitioning out of winter well i can hook you up with a t-shirt okay can you honestly i'm a t-shirt guy that would be i would appreciate that okay okay i'm excited to kick out this next jam because i have i understand from my crack research that becky here uh becky you actually know this song so let's kick out jam number two. Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight Too many runaways, eating up the night Mark Cody plays the bumper, listen to the radio All right, I'm going first this time, okay, Becky?
Starting point is 00:19:22 All right. All right. All right, I'm going first this time, okay, Becky? All right. All right. We recently had on the program, we had on the program director of CFTR when it flipped. Do you ever listen to 680 News?
Starting point is 00:19:33 I do. On your commutes, okay. I do. Do you remember when CFTR was top 40 music? Actually, you know what? I'm just realizing you might be a lot younger than I am, but do you remember at all any memories of CFTR as a top 40 station? No, I've only known it as a news station. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:48 We've just dated Becky here. Sorry, Miss Deanna. I just dated your wife here. Okay. So this is famously in Toronto radio circles. Rob Freena, by the way, was the name of the guy we had on who was at CFDR when it flipped in 1993, by the way. But this was the final song they played on CFDR, 680 CFDR, when it was all hits before it flipped to all news. So it's a part of like Toronto radio history.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Gotcha. I'll give you some history of why I like this song. Yes, please. So I remember this song being played at the CNE, an iconic site in Toronto. I remember seeing some type of show there with my family when I was young. So that's why I picked this song because it brought back the good memories. Oh, I love it.
Starting point is 00:20:35 I worked at the CNE for three years. Oh, amazing. But again, when you heard about me in diapers when I was there. Okay, so do you remember what kind of show you saw? Any memory of what kind of show you saw? I don't remember. I just remember hearing this song. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Yeah. All right. Excellent. Okay, so one more fun fact. I want to bury everybody in here. I love the fun facts and the mind blows. So this song is from the album. This is by, oh, by the way, I should point out, this is Starship.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Now, there's a long history of, like, you had the Jefferson Airplane. This is an important history because it was Jefferson airplane, big 60. You know, whenever you watch a Vietnam movie, you're going to hear some like volunteers. You're going to hear some Jefferson airplane in it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Then you got Jefferson starship and then you got starship. This song is by starship in 1985. And the song is from the album knee deep in the hoopla, which I wish I could spot it and turn it up but that's actually a lyric in this song. Knee Deep in the Hoopla. So that's where the title
Starting point is 00:21:32 of the album comes from. And here's a fun fact for you, Becky, which I hope it doesn't tarnish your wonderful memories of this song. Uh-oh. Rolling Stone once named this jam
Starting point is 00:21:43 as the very worst song of the 1980s. What? The worst song of the 80s. Do you agree with that? I don't. I know what they're getting at. It's a super cheesy,
Starting point is 00:21:54 corny song, but it's too fun. And when I hear it, I don't cringe. I actually sing along. Exactly. So how can it be the worst song in history?
Starting point is 00:22:04 Becky, you've turned me. I know. I actually agree with you in that this is but this was, maybe it's to sell magazines or whatever, but this was named worst song. I think maybe they're comparing this to what Jefferson's airplane once was in the 60s, right? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Maybe that's the deal. But yeah, it's not Becky's worst song of the 80s, that's for sure. Okay, let's talk about why we're kicking it out. So I think it's pretty intuitive, but you never know. We built this city. People, like, I mean, if you've heard any Toronto Mic'd episodes in March, you'll hear, like, even Rob Farina, who I just mentioned,
Starting point is 00:22:39 who's rebuilding his house in California. He bought a house in California, and they're fixing it up. And the Ryobi is a big part of that project. Like people are building in this city, in every city, every day of the year, powered by Ryobi products. If the last two years hasn't taught us anything,
Starting point is 00:22:59 it's given us the opportunity to take on new hobbies. And luckily for Ryobi, renovation was one of those hobbies that people picked up. Right. So, you know, the song gives us the motivation to really build that house. Right. And I would say you had many people who had disposable income and said,
Starting point is 00:23:23 okay, I'm going to earmark. I'll make up these numbers. I never have these numbers for my disposable income. We have $15,000 parked here for our trip to Paris. There's a global pandemic going on. Let's spend that $15,000 on fixing up the basement or the kitchen or whatever and in steps the Ryobi 18. And, and then in steps, the Ryobi 18 volt one plus high capacity lithium plus battery system.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Exactly. I was one of those people. I had a trip planned to Mexico and unfortunately was put on hold and I invested in my basement instead. Would you invest in my basement? What do you think? I think actually this is where Monica is going to come in and I, she will join us shortly.
Starting point is 00:24:07 So we'll just keep cruising. I've seen worse. Let's just say that. Shout out to Chris Brown, who did paint this at some point recently. But I want to, it's funny, Chris Brown is my painter. He's like a great FOTM. He's listening now. But Chris Brown is also, and forget the whole Rihanna Chris Brown. Let's put that one aside.
Starting point is 00:24:24 I was going to say, is it that Chris Brown? No, it's not that Chris Brown is also, and forget the whole Rihanna Chris Brown. Let's put that one aside. I was going to say, is it that Chris Brown? No, it's not that Chris Brown. But there's another Chris Brown who's my guest on Monday from the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. Chris Brown and Kate Fenner, people who know local music know those names. But Chris Brown, he's done stuff with Tragically Hip. He's been amazing forever. A musician in this city is going to be in the studio sitting in the becky chair on monday amazing so that's the next episode so lots of chris browns and i didn't even realize when i
Starting point is 00:24:50 said the name of the painter that that's a lot of people have that name okay there's even a cbc reporter i always hear from chris brown reporting from you know ukraine or whatever so monica will tell you about the fuel gauge okay so there's, this Ryobi system has this fuel gauge and it tells you the battery status before the work begins. And the pro tip, by the way, is to have two batteries because you got one. So when one needs to be charged, it goes, gets charged, but you have one fully charged. Exactly. That's the, that's the pro tip.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Okay. So lots more jams to kick out. Lots more fun facts to drop. Let's kick out the third jam. Brown necktie and a matching vest And both his wingtip shoes He built the closet on our back porch And put a penny in a burned-out fuse Grandpa was a carpenter Built houses, stores, and banks Chained smoke, chemicals, cigarettes
Starting point is 00:25:57 And hammered nails and planks He would level on the level He shaved even every door And voted for Eisenhower. Called Lincoln one war. Becky, do you know the name John Prine? I don't, but I'll tell you why I picked the song. Yes, please.
Starting point is 00:26:18 So, I don't know about you, but I've become a little bit handy since working for RYOBI. And I've learned a lot of skills from my dad, who is super handy. So this song, you know, talks about, you know, how your family kind of gives you that, the learnings and the education to pick up the tools. Absolutely. And this is, in this song, John Prine's actually This is a true story If you will Where he wrote this In 1973
Starting point is 00:26:47 Or it was released in 73 But he wrote it About his grandpa So his grandfather's name And I love the name So I'm going to say it here Emson Scobie
Starting point is 00:26:57 Prine So Epsom Emsom Sorry Emsom Scobie Prine
Starting point is 00:27:03 That's a You know what That's a tongue twister I'm going to try it one more time E Empson Scobie Prime. You know what? That's a tongue twister. I'm going to try it one more time. Empson Scobie Prime, grandfather to John Prine, was a carpenter. And yeah, John would watch him work. And you can hear in the song, John's singing about, like most John Prine songs, it's autobiographical. Now, John.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Okay, so 1973, this song comes out. It's on his album, Sweet Revenge, if you're looking for it. It's autobiographical. Now, John... Okay, so 1973, this song comes out. It's on his album, Sweet Revenge, if you're looking for it. It's charming. John Prine's an artist that I knew of. Anyway, people would tell me about John Prine. But he doesn't have any hits, really. Like, there's Angel of Montgomery and some big songs you know. But he's not a hit guy.
Starting point is 00:27:40 And you kind of don't really take the time to go dive in. But then he died of COVID in 2020. Oh, no. He was sickly anyway. I almost want to say he died with COVID, but he died of COVID in 2020. And then you start to hear people talk about, he's one of the most influential songwriters of his generation.
Starting point is 00:27:58 You're like, I got to dive in. So then I did that. This is back in whenever it was in 2020 when he passed away. I started going into the John Prine catalog. Mind-blowingly brilliant, wonderful stuff. And it's all this stuff. I feel like we've been ruined.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Maybe it's CFDR's fault. Like, why do things have to be a hit before we take notice? Do you know what I mean? Yeah, I totally agree. Come on. John Prine was there all that time and I didn't appreciate him
Starting point is 00:28:22 until he was gone. And that's the other thing. How many artists out there do you only start to appreciate when they die? That is true. Right. Look at all the ones who have passed away over COVID. Right.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Right. And then it's almost like, Oh, they're no longer around to create art. That's like your trigger almost, almost to go in and like, okay, what art did they create when they were alive?
Starting point is 00:28:42 And you're like, why didn't I appreciate this when they were here? Well lot of spotify um albums spike after the artist dies right so and we're gonna hear this is terrible but not intentionally but a lot more artists coming up who have passed away shout out to ridley oh before i forget lots more to come i want to give you a toque oh now i know it's warming up but but we're going to have some cold nights ahead. But this is courtesy of Canna Cabana. Love it. That's for you, Becky.
Starting point is 00:29:09 That's a toque. CannaCabana.com. They won't be beat on the price of cannabis or cannabis accessories. And there's a lot of locations. There's probably one near you, but there's 100 plus locations across this country. Again, go to CannaCabana.com.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Join the Canna Cabana Club because you'll be first in the know when they have a sale going on. But again, those to canacabana.com. Join the Canacabana Club because you'll be first in the know when they have a sale going on. But again, those prices are unbeatable. Becky's going to be rocking the Canacabana toque. Awesome. Oh man. Okay. This band actually has a fallen member as well here, but let's just kick it out because I love it. Here we go. I got no time I got no time for living Yes, I'm working all the time It seems to me I could live my life Not better than I think I am I guess that's why they call me
Starting point is 00:30:17 They call me the working man They call me the working man I guess that's what I am we should probably clarify so I kind of created a pool of potential jams and then you did pick the top ten from that pool, because I know we talked about why you chose that jam,
Starting point is 00:30:48 but then at the beginning we said I chose the jams, and it's like, who the heck chose these jams? So you had definite input. So do you want to share with me why you chose Working Man by Rush, and then I can bury you in some fun facts. Well, I think it's interesting that it's a female singing, and it's saying, or she's saying, working man. Well, I'm about to blow your mind
Starting point is 00:31:08 right now. Are you sitting down? I am. What if I told you that wasn't a female singing? Oh boy. That's okay. Look, no shame in this game. Are you kidding me? No shame in this game. I've been fooled before as well. And I will say this band, I think, is an acquired taste, but those who have the taste
Starting point is 00:31:23 like worship this band. This is a Toronto band. Yes, that I know. Okay. So that's why we root for these guys. One of these, I want to just right now do the Ridley funeral home mentioned that,
Starting point is 00:31:33 uh, Neil Peart's no longer with us. He died of cancer a couple of years back. So we lost the drummer, but the singer, his name is Geddy Lee. He's a dude. And Geddy is the way his mom would pronounce his real first name,
Starting point is 00:31:48 which is Gary. So she had an accent and she would say, Geddy, Geddy, Geddy, come here, Geddy. And that's where Geddy's nickname comes from. But absolutely a dude. But now that I listen through your ears, I totally understand why you'd think this was a woman's name. I apologize to the Rush fans out there.
Starting point is 00:32:05 You know what? You've angered James Edgar and Rush Mike, and these are a couple of chaps that will join Michael Lang and Moose Grumpy and others at TMLX 9, which is actually going to happen in Marie Curtis Park, which is in the southwest corner of Toronto. Like, almost the exact southwest corner, actually. And it's going to happen on Friday the 13th of May at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Starting point is 00:32:28 So, Becky, if you're not doing anything on May 13th, you could drop by TMLX9. Well, because it's Friday the 13th, do you have something special planned? Yes, there's going to be a terrible mystery that's going to unfold. No, what I have special is I'm going to bring cold Great Lakes beer for anyone who shows up. But we'll discreetly, us responsible adults will discreetly drink park beers on Friday
Starting point is 00:32:51 the 13th. How does that sound? That sounds amazing. It's amazing. Geddy Lee's amazing. Now, this is the self-titled debut album for Rush in 1973.
Starting point is 00:33:01 And The Working Man, so a fun fact about this, this is their first single. And rush became a global phenomenon like this band is enormous and uh there's a disc jockey in cleveland okay her name was so this is a woman a working woman if you will donna helper donna helper gets huge credit for getting rush noticed in the states which kind of helped them take off, because Donna would play this song, Working Man, on the air.
Starting point is 00:33:26 And the reason Working Man resonated with her Cleveland, Ohio listeners was because it was a working class city. Sure. And they like, you know, blue collar, working class city. And that song really struck a chord, if you will, no pun intended,
Starting point is 00:33:41 with the audience. And because Cleveland was playing the mess out of working man the next thing you know it it became a hit in the states and then rush became rush and the rest is history amazing amazing and it's a cool i mean i'm listening now this is like a fun fact is that uh i'm actually so alex lifeson is the other member of rush and alex lifeson has a new project and i'm gonna get it wrong. Envy of None? I'm going to say his new band.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Because Rush is no more. Because when Neil Peart passed away, that was it for Rush. And then, although they actually retired before that. But anyway, now there's a new band that Alex Lifeson is in called Envy of None. And he's got a new single, Western Sunset, I'm going to say it's called. And it's a tribute to Neil Peart. So people can go to YouTube and find Western Sunset by Envy of Nine. Do you like it?
Starting point is 00:34:29 Yeah, I do like it. And Alex Lifeson's a guy. I know he plays golf with Humble Howard Glassman. It's here and there. And I think I might be able to get him on Toronto Mike. So I'm working on getting Alex. And I would love Geddy. Geddy's a huge Blue Jay fan, by the way.
Starting point is 00:34:42 And if Geddy Lee is listening, we would love to get you on Toronto Mic'd as well. So Rush, and again, by any chance did Mr. Yan see your list of jams? He did. Did he have any comments? I know that you had great memories of the Starship jam, but did he say, did any of these... He just started singing all of them to me.
Starting point is 00:35:02 And he's like, you know this. Does he have a good voice? Depends on the day, I guess. How many beers he's had. Well, he's going to have a great voice tonight when you come home with the GLB. Okay. So, back to RYOBI, because Monica should be joining us shortly. She's on a call, but she said at 8.40 she'll stroll down here if she can.
Starting point is 00:35:23 And I hope she does. But it's now a good time. I need to know about, like I always talk in the extra, for example, or maybe I do it in the intro now that I hear myself talk about it, that there's 260 tools. Yes, there's 260 tools that work off the same battery. So you can do projects inside your house, so if you're renovating your basement, let's say, or you can do projects inside your house. So if you're renovating your basement,
Starting point is 00:35:45 let's say, or you can do gardening. So we have the battery that operates our lawnmower as well, and any trimmers and all the different garden tools. So you really can do every single project around your house with one battery. FOTM Tyler Campbell was showing me a picture of his new Ryobi lawnmower that he's very proud of and to support the show. And yeah, so the deal is you've got the one, and again, the pro tip is to make sure you have two of these, but you got your, you got your, this cordless revolution, you got your battery and your charger, and then you can have, now, since we have a few minutes left in the song, can you name all 260 tools in the system?
Starting point is 00:36:28 No, I can't, unfortunately. The good thing about Ryobi is we are a really innovative company. So there are an onslaught of new tools coming out all the time. And my memory doesn't serve me well these days. Do you have a favorite tool? I do. Our Airstrike Brad Nailer. So if you're familiar with Brad Nailers,
Starting point is 00:36:48 they're great for, you know, crown molding and trim work around your house or even picture frames. So, you know, when it was first introduced to the market, I used to go around the house trying to find things to nail. That's funny. That's funny. All right. And I'm sure you were having to do some chopping of wood,
Starting point is 00:37:08 which leads us to this next jam. You wired the trains and went back home to St. Clair's Shores Before you became a spark down at the yard You were passing through those hungry years alone You were just trying to make a living out in Detroit When you came back off the boat you didn't want to go anywhere You were just trying to make a living out in Detroit. When you came back off the boat, you didn't want to go anywhere. You sit down at TV in your favorite chair. You watch the big picture fade away down at Harland and Wolf. But you still kept on chopping wood.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Then you came back home to Belfast. So this is another autobiographical song. This is Van Morrison, and he's talking about his dad. It's a tribute to his dad, who returned to Belfast and was chopping wood, as the title suggests. And his dad's name was George Morrison, and he passed away in 1988 from a sudden heart failure. And this was the tribute that Van Morrison wrote and recorded for his album Down the Road in 2002. They really don't make music today like they did back then. Like, listen to all those different instruments. You know what?
Starting point is 00:38:53 I just don't think they play it on the radio. Like, I think it's being made. And then if you only listen to, I don't know, Virgin or Chum or what are the big stations? I should know. It's Kiss 92.5. You just don't hear these you don't hear songs like this like I feel like
Starting point is 00:39:06 now is the time of like top 40 hip hop R&B infused cookie cutter jams that is true
Starting point is 00:39:15 but Van Morrison I have a question for you Becky do you watch I know you have a young child so maybe you don't get out to the
Starting point is 00:39:21 well the pandemic had none of us getting out to the theater but do you watch are you a movie lover um yes i haven't been to the movies in a long time and even if i have recently it's all been to kid movies right okay did you see uh turning red i did i watched it last weekend it was fantastic we saw it too uh last weekend uh and it's kind of neat you know that took funny thing is that, that movie takes place in 2002,
Starting point is 00:39:47 the year this song was released. So that's like, you can see Sky Dome, not Rogers Center. Yeah. I still call it Sky Dome. Yeah, so do I. I think we built it. So I feel like we built this dome.
Starting point is 00:39:58 We built this dome. Okay. So why am I asking about movies? Have you seen the movie Belfast? I have not. Okay, that's a great, I mean, it's a great movie. I recently saw it. It's nominated for Best Picture at like this coming week.
Starting point is 00:40:13 What is it, next weekend is the Oscars? But Belfast has a whack of Van Morrison songs throughout, and it really adds to it because Van Morrison's a Belfast artist, and it's got some great songs, and you can hear them in Belfast all right I'll check it out that's a pro tip hey look at that we timed it perfectly we're gonna roll right into the next jam We'll be right back. guitar solo Well, you're dirty and sweet Cat in black, don't look back And I love him You're dirty and sweet, don't you?
Starting point is 00:41:36 When you're sweet and weak You've got the teeth of a hydra upon you You're dirty, sweet sweet And you were my girl Get it on Bang a gong Get it on Get it on Bang a gong
Starting point is 00:41:58 Get it on This song I chose Because of the band's name. I was going to say, you have to watch your mic. You almost started headbanging and hit it. I could break a tooth on this thing. Okay. Biff Naked was down here. Do you know Biff Naked?
Starting point is 00:42:18 I do. Okay. She was down here. And I think she almost chipped her tooth in one of these mics. The problem of being close on the mic when you're like a passionate, enthusiastic person when the jam comes on. I think she almost chipped her tooth in one of these mics. The problem of being close on the mic when you're a passionate, enthusiastic person, when the jam comes on, I think she almost chipped it. Okay, I think it was Pantera that was booming when she hit her tooth. So, the Power Station, Get It On, quick fun facts,
Starting point is 00:42:34 then we're going to turn to you, Becky, and then we have a special guest who has jumped on the third mic. That's exciting. Somebody very near and dear to my heart. Okay, and I'm not just talking about Becky. Okay. So Get It On is actually originally by English glam rock band T-Rex. This is a song that was from T-Rex in 1971. It was on their album Electric Warrior. It was covered by the Power Station in 1985.
Starting point is 00:42:58 They actually named their song Get It On and then in parentheses, Bang A Gong. So this would be a good parentheses song for Pandemic Friday. Now, it's the second single from their debut album. Here's the fun fact about the Power Station, which some of you will know, some of you won't. It was a super group. So this is a band that consisted of singer Robert Palmer,
Starting point is 00:43:16 rest in peace, Robert Palmer, former chic drummer Tony Thompson, and a couple of members of my first favorite band. Yeah, I think that's fair to say. Duran Duran, John Taylor, and Andy Taylor on bass and guitar. Yes, the Power Station. And really, maybe I'll introduce you right now. Monica.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Hello. When was your last appearance on Toronto Mic'd? I feel like it's been a year. I think you were episode 666. That was a year ago, maybe? Long time ago. Okay, good to have you on. I've been telling Becky
Starting point is 00:43:50 and some people are like, are you just BSing? Whatever. No, all true. Maybe start by telling us before we ever learned about Becky and the good people at RYOBI, what tools do you prefer for all that woodworking,
Starting point is 00:44:08 all your woodworking projects? So the first tool I got was a drill. My first project was a piano bench. I bought a digital piano and I didn't like the stands that were out there. So I'm like, I'm just going to build one. So I got a drill and then realized I needed a saw and then I wanted a cordless. And then I discovered Ryobi had these batteries that you could interchange.
Starting point is 00:44:35 So that's how I got hooked on the Ryobi product. So I got the saw. I got an air compressor after that. But yeah, that's it it do you have all 260? I wish I wish we had the space I would love a workshop and then just have everything set up there I think this is the space you need like where else
Starting point is 00:44:56 will I go I'll be in the shed soon I think if we keep this up well the good news is Ryobi just launched our new link system which is a garage organization solution to hang all the tools. Oh, fun. Okay, so I just want, you know, it's funny
Starting point is 00:45:11 because we played working man and then Becky thought it was interesting. A woman was singing and it wasn't a woman. It was Geddy Lee from Rush. He was a dude. But you, and this, I'm very upfront and proud of this, but you are the handy one in this relationship. Unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:45:25 That's okay. What's wrong with that? It's the same with me and handy one in this relationship. Unfortunately. That's okay. What's wrong with that? It's the same with me and Mr. Yan. Is that right? That's true. Mr. Yan and I need to talk, okay? But that's good to hear. But you, and you talked about the piano bench, but, and then again, we have a few more jams,
Starting point is 00:45:36 so we're going to get some more of these stories before you have to jet again. But the big project that I'm, I think you should be most proud of is the loft bed. Oh, wow. That's really good. Yeah, that was a risky one because I was putting my, he was three at the time, three or four.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I'm putting him on the top and I don't want him to fall or to collapse onto my two-year-old. So yeah, that was a fun one. I dedicated three whole days and I booked some time off work for that and I used the circular saw by Ryobi.
Starting point is 00:46:09 I was too afraid to venture into miter saws at that time so that's what I used. Please tell me you've bought a miter saw now. Yes, I have one. Amazing. Little jam and then we're going to come back to that because I've witnessed these amazing woodworking projects. There's something else.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Some Peter, Paul and Mary. Are you sure, Becky, you don't know this song? I know Peter, Paul and Mary, but I don't know this song. Okay, this was a real quick facts on this and then we'll tie it back to 90s R&B. We'll find a way because you guys have a connection. That's my music. That's what I said to Mike. I said, where's the list of 90s R&B?
Starting point is 00:47:08 You should have came up with a list. Why don't you two smart young women tell me an R&B 90s jam that would fit the theme? Go ahead. I'm listening. I tried. I did my best. I'm not married to any genre. This is folk, right?
Starting point is 00:47:24 So this is a protest song written by Pete Seeger. First, it was written in 1949. It was in support of the progressive movement and then Seeger's band at the time was the Weavers. It was a folk music quartet. Seeger, Hayes, Ronnie Gilbert, Fred Hellerman.
Starting point is 00:47:37 So they recorded If I Had a Hammer in parentheses, another parentheses jam, the Hammer song. This went to number, I don't know, number, I think it was a top 10 hit for Peter, Paul, and Mary in 1962.
Starting point is 00:47:51 That's the version we're listening to now. But then Trini Lopez records this song in 1963, and it goes to number three. So this song had three good runs there, If I Had a Hammer. Shout out to Peter, Paul, and Mary. Of course, that's a New York City folk group that formed in 1961 there was a huge folk music revival back then of course and we've lost
Starting point is 00:48:11 who did we lose? Mary Travers? But anyway this is Paul Stukely, Mary Travers and Peter Yarrow so if I had a hammer Monica, I'm trying to think of all the are TVs on a new stand you built? Are we done with the loft bed? I'm sorry, I wanted to kick out a jam real quick here.
Starting point is 00:48:27 But that loft bed, just so people know, yeah, we have a lack of room in this because I have four kids. So there's, you know, although James is in Waterloo right now, he's here for good runs or whatever. So, and he only recently went to university. So there's six of us here
Starting point is 00:48:40 and James is sleeping around the corner down here from my studio. But upstairs, you got three bedrooms, right? This is the typical three bedroom home. And the teenage girl needs her own room because she's a teenage girl. Okay, so that was a no brainer. Monica and I need our own room, right?
Starting point is 00:48:54 Of course. So that's a no brainer. But now we have these two little ones and there's only one room left. And you're, I mean, until they get to a certain age, at which point we'll have to figure something out. Maybe, I don't know what,
Starting point is 00:49:04 but maybe somebody will move out. Okay, we'll figure it all out. But for now, I mean, you said a two-year-old and a four-year-old. That loft bed solution was amazing. Like it was so in that design. And then I think I was in the way more than anything. Like I tried to help, but you really were the quarterback for that drive. Yeah, I made a lot of mistakes. So it's not a clean project.
Starting point is 00:49:29 There's a lot of holes, unnecessary holes in there. But yeah, that was a fun project. It did take a while. And I love that it's custom to the room. It fits wall to wall exactly. So yeah, that was a fun one. I would think my best project is my recent one though um the console station with the paper shredder and filing cabinet okay put a pin in
Starting point is 00:49:56 that one i want to hear a little prince and then we're gonna find out about yes i've what's the name for that uh piece of furniture i'm not sure. But it's not a cabinet. There's no word for that. It's like a console table. A console table? Okay, we're going to have to coin a phrase for that one. But here, a little Prince, and then we're going to come back with that story. I don't think he's talking about woodworking. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Okay, Screwdriver from Prince. Another artist we lost far too soon. Brilliant artist. I'm sure you're both, is it fair to say, even though you're big 90s R&B fans, both of you, Prince is A-OK in your books, right? Who doesn't love Prince? That's what I'm getting at,
Starting point is 00:50:54 because I'd have to kick you out of the TMDS studio. Man, and I still think, I know that was a great, we all enjoyed it, especially, I'm sure you two both enjoyed the Super Bowl halftime show this year. Yeah, 100%. I thought so. I watched it a few times. Rightime show this year. Yeah, 100%. I thought so. I watched it a few times. Right in your wheelhouse.
Starting point is 00:51:08 I enjoyed it too, of course. But I still, if I have to argue, I think the greatest Super Bowl halftime show remains Prince's. Just my feeling on it. Prince. Because it was raining and he breaks into Purple Rain and he kicks ass, takes names. It was unbelievable. I know Prince was great, but what about Bruno Mars? That was a pretty spectacular show for
Starting point is 00:51:27 myself, at least. Becky, did you know Bruno Mars is part Filipino? I did know that. You did? Okay. I track, we track all the Filipino superstars. Okay, so tell me about this piece that's in our hallway right now, right across from the Neil Young picture.
Starting point is 00:51:44 It's, um, so we just collect, we collect a lot of papers and very disorganized. So I thought I would build something that was a slim and like custom size to that small space in the, on the hallway that contains a filing cabinet, a paper shredder, um, some bins for the kids stuff and some drawers. And yeah, that was a fun one. stuff, and some drawers. Yeah, that was a fun one. And that's your most proud of that piece, which is beautiful. No one sees the loft bed, I guess.
Starting point is 00:52:13 For the pandemic, nobody even visited to see the loft bed, but I guess Morgan did have a birthday party last weekend, and a few of her girlfriends saw the loft bed. But mainly, this piece in the living room, that's a lot of eyeballs on that, right? Yeah. Pre-pandemic, guests walked by it, right?
Starting point is 00:52:30 But I can't remember when you built it. No, it was during the pandemic. During the pandemic. When I was just trying to find stuff to do. Okay. And other pieces, I mean, we're talking about all these pieces, but you have threatened to create
Starting point is 00:52:42 like a studio table here. Yeah. But you couldn't give me the specs. I need to see your vision. Becky, does Ryobi have anything to help me with my vision? We do. We have lots of DIY projects
Starting point is 00:52:55 on our Instagram and Facebook page and also on our website. So lots of video tutorials that you can go watch. There you go. No more excuses. No more excuses. No more. Honestly, no more excuses.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Amazing. And Monica, I did tell a story off the top here because we only have two more jams to go and I don't know when I'll lose you. But you were adamant as well that it was Ryobi. Yes. Because I feel like I've seen commercials where it was Ryobi, but maybe I was wrong. That's like when people say it was the Berenstain Bears, not the Berenstain Bears. You know about this Mandela effect?
Starting point is 00:53:28 You read about this? Nodding doesn't work in a podcast. The fact is it's a real B, but we covered that earlier. So here, let me kick out the penultimate jam and then get more real B stories for Monica. I love this song song by the way i ain't from teler But I can recognize A hand
Starting point is 00:54:10 And when the whole Of queens are staring Back at me guitar solo Once I was a carpenter And man, my hands were calloused I could swing a metal mallet Sure and straight But I took to the highway I could swing a metal mileage sure and straight.
Starting point is 00:54:52 But I took to the highway, a poet young and hungry, and I left the timbers rotting where they lay. I almost don't want to fade it down, only because I really like this song. This is the Avett Brothers, and this song is called The Once and Future Carpenter and appropriately enough the album it's from, the 2012 release by the Avett Brothers is called The Carpenter and it was produced by Rick Rubin so
Starting point is 00:55:15 FOTMs know we love it when an album's produced by Rick Rubin and it's funny that you talked about work. All these jams we're hearing about Carpenters, it's about the dad or the grandpa. It's always about a dude, okay? Which I find interesting because
Starting point is 00:55:31 you two young ladies are the carpenters in your collective couplings there. So this is a very old view of carpentry and woodworking, etc. I've never heard this song, but I have to say it's really nice. I like it. But I don't know about you, Becky. This is not what I want to listen to
Starting point is 00:55:48 when I'm building. 100%. What do you listen to when you're building? This is a nice song, but not for building. What do you listen to? TLC? What are we listening to when we build? That could work. We played it last night on toast.
Starting point is 00:56:02 We played last night on Creep. I just did a quick search and something from a 90s R&B song would be Hot in Here. Oh, yeah. Because it does get hot when you're billing. Okay. Where were you when I was putting this list together?
Starting point is 00:56:16 In fact, didn't I consult you at some point? You had your list already at that time, I think. Okay. So, Avett Brothers, of course, from North Carolina. They're a couple of brothers,, I think. Okay. So, Aved Brothers, of course, from North Carolina. They're a couple of brothers, Scott and Seth. And I think it's really nice.
Starting point is 00:56:31 I might not do my carpentry to this song, but it's a tribute to carpenters across this land using Ryobi products to get it done. Get it done. And by the way,
Starting point is 00:56:39 we were so excited to talk about the piece we don't have named in the hallway that I didn't drop a couple of the Prince facts. We listened to Screwdriver. That's from Hit and Run, his 2013 release.
Starting point is 00:56:48 And that's significant because that's the final album Prince releases in his lifetime. So you get stuff after he passes. But that's the last album, the last studio album Prince releases in his lifetime. Again, gone too soon. It's his 39th. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:57:04 39th full-length studio album that Prince there. But Avett Brothers here. What pieces are we missing, babe? Because I remember, and help me out. There's that piece beside the couch where the router is in that piece. And like, you know, what's that piece? Oh, that's the side table. And you built that from scratch with the Ryobi tools. Yeah. Look at all the furniture
Starting point is 00:57:29 that you're building. It's fantastic. The TV stand we haven't mentioned. That's amazing. Yes that's that's the second piece I worked on. What was your first piece? The piano bench. Piano bench. Okay so it started the piano bench and then you did the TV stand and then the side table and then you did that thing in the hallway. You did the loft bed. Okay. And what's the next project? A buffet. I think it is a console table. The one you put in the dining room?
Starting point is 00:57:54 Yeah, a console table, a buffet. Yeah, that's what I want to work on. Has the price of wood come down? Slightly. Yes. But yeah, I don't trust it. I think it's going to go back up. Well, get your wood while you can and then get her done.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Amazing. Okay, so this song will not be your cup of tea. I'm already dreading the fact that... I got to run before you start that. Thank you so much. It was nice meeting you. Nice meeting you too. Greatest advocate of Ryobi products.
Starting point is 00:58:22 Again, there's 260 and we only own a handful. We have some work to do to catch up. I need more batteries if I get more tools too. You know somebody, right? We'll get her done here. Okay. Here, Monica, thanks for coming to the show.
Starting point is 00:58:35 This is a Ryobi hat for you. Awesome. You can wear that on your next Zoom. I'll wear it on my call. Wear it on your call. In one minute. Okay, thanks. Bye.
Starting point is 00:58:41 Love you, babe. Bye. Okay, thank you, Monica's special appearance. She hasn't been here since episode 666. So I'm going to just start the last jam here. This will take us home. And if you love your 90s R&B, you're going to hate this. But hey, I'm dedicating this to Becky,
Starting point is 00:58:58 who's been a great guest here for episode 1017. Thanks for having me. We'll let it brew a bit. I'll drop some fun facts and then we'll wrap everything up here. And then I got to get your lasagna from the freezer before you... We got to take a photo.
Starting point is 00:59:13 Oh, so much to do before you drive away. It's going to get heavy for a moment. You hate this, don't you? Do you hate it? It's definitely not something I listen to. It's an acquired taste, right? This is the big album, well, one of the big albums,
Starting point is 01:00:06 but this is Master of Puppets by Metallica, the album, which came out in 86. This is definitely a Mr. Yan pick. So Mr. Yan will appreciate what he's hearing here. And just a couple of fun facts. It's called Battery. And we'll explain why we're significant the significance of that in a moment, as if you don't know by now.
Starting point is 01:00:26 But, this is the last album that features Cliff Burton. So I just wanted to, uh, pay some respects to the great bassist, Cliff Burton, who tragically died in a bus accident in Sweden during the,
Starting point is 01:00:40 uh, promotional tour for this album. Okay. So Cliff has been gone since what, mid eighties now. And he's on this album. You can hear him on this track. They recorded this album. So Cliff has been gone since mid-80s now. He's on this album. You can hear him on this track. They recorded this album in Denmark.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Master of Puppets is a pretty heavy, pretty great album if you dig heavy metal. This song, Battery, again, it's all about the battery. That's what you should do. Remix. It's all about the Benjamins, baby. Remix that. It's all about the Benjamins, baby. Yeah, yeah. Remix that. That's right. It's all about the battery, baby.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Get real. Sorry, Technotronic. No, sorry. Tektronic. License that song and we'll get a parody, a cover, whatever. It's all about the battery, baby. What do you think? My agency keeps telling me that the jingle is where it's at.
Starting point is 01:01:20 So maybe that's what I need to do. It's all about the battery, baby. And then you can go into your whole lithium thing and it'll be amazing here. But okay, you were amazing. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Any final thoughts
Starting point is 01:01:33 before we play something a little more palatable from lowest to the low? No, thank you for having me. I think, you know, don't be afraid. I think Monica kind of drove that home.
Starting point is 01:01:45 You know, don't be afraid to pick up a tool and, uh, build your own furniture or do things around the house. Cause once you do it, you get the fever and you'll want to do more. Get the fever for the flame. She inspires me like, cause I, uh, I don't have good confidence when it comes to all this. And she gives me confidence because she just sort of figures it out. And it's very, very inspiring. And again, powered by RYOBI. And we at Toronto Mic Tier appreciate your support and love working with you guys. So much love to RYOBI. One final gift for you before we depart, though.
Starting point is 01:02:25 A StickerU.com sticker gift for you before we depart though. A sticker you.com sticker. It's a Toronto Mike sticker. It should be on the pasta box. There it is. Love it. Becky, we'll put that on your car before you drive away. You'll love that. Okay, so thank you for coming and thank you so much for
Starting point is 01:02:39 the support and the love and love working with RYOBI. Great products. And 260. Is that, is that, is that number? Because it's growing all the time. So it's probably updated.
Starting point is 01:02:50 What's the true number? Do you know? No, 260 is where we're at today. When I started, it was at 50. So. Oh my God,
Starting point is 01:02:56 it's all you. No, not at all. But innovation is where it's at. Amazing. And that brings us to the end of our 1017th show. You can follow me on Twitter. I'm at Toronto Mike.
