I'm tired of waking up tired
Waking up tired
Yeah, waking up tired
I'm tired of waking up tired Waking up tired. Yeah, waking up tired. I'm tired of waking up tired.
Waking up tired.
Yeah, waking up tired.
Too much time to kill.
It's killing me.
Hi, I'm Toronto Mike, and I somehow managed to elude COVID-19 for three years.
Don't ask me how. I haven't been locked down for a minute in 2022, as I've been attending sporting events, parties, and concerts all year.
parties, and concerts all year.
But here we are in December 2022,
and I've joined the overwhelming majority of Canadians who have had COVID.
I was as vaxxed as legally possible.
That is to say I've had five COVID vaccinations,
the latest one of the bivalent variety.
On Saturday, I hosted TMLX11 and felt amazing. What a great day.
That night, I biked to Lee's Palace to see Lowest of the Low. What a great show. Monday,
in my recording with Ray Don Chong, I still sound normal. Tuesday, I recorded a small part
in Gare Joyce's second installment
of Every Spring, A Parade Down Bay Street,
which I'm dropping as an episode 1069
of Toronto Mic'd tomorrow.
And I still sounded normal.
But Wednesday, I sounded congested.
Thursday morning, I still sounded congested when I did my hit on Humble and Fred.
Then another congested episode of Tronamiked.
Before a very sickly Hebzion Sports Friday morning.
At that time, I thought I just had a head cold.
But had already decided to cancel my Friday recording, which was going to be pretty
damn cool. I was scheduled to set up my studio in the Horseshoe Tavern, where I was going to
chat up the guys from 5440. It hurt to cancel that. Meanwhile, as I managed what I thought
was a typical winter head cold,
my wife started to feel under the weather on Thursday and spent Friday in bed with a fever.
She tested positive for COVID on Friday morning,
so I followed suit with a rapid test.
My first positive.
My streak was over.
I actually feel much better today than I did on Friday.
But as you can hear, I'm still congested.
I've already cancelled my Monday and Tuesday in-person guests.
So how did I get COVID?
It's impossible to know, but I've heard from three others
who were all at the lowest of the low concert
and have tested positive.
I've not heard of a single case of COVID from someone who was at TMLX11 but didn't go to Lee's Palace that night.
Lowest of the Low at Lee's Palace was a super spreader event, but I knew the risks.
I'm out there living life and COVID is now a part of life.
asks, I'm out there living life, and COVID is now a part of life.
The Toronto Mic'd recording schedule is in flux right now, so here's an update.
Mark Weisblot visits the first Thursday of every month, and he's done so for years,
but that means we should have recorded on December 1st, 2022. That obviously never happened.
Mark asked to push that till later in the month.
So expect a 1236 episode between Christmas and New Year's.
Meanwhile, Toast is scheduled for December 20th.
But one of us is on the road directing a series about the dark side of wrestling.
And another of us has asked to pause the recordings
while he gets his professional life in order.
So the roles of Bo and Luke will be played by Coy and Vance.
As soon as FOTM Hall of Famers Cam and Stu are ready to record again,
they'll be back, I promise.
But there will be an episode of Toast in December,
because I love those episodes.
I also love my annual Christmas Crackers episode with Retro Ontario
and the Festivus episode with Elvis.
Both will happen later this month.
Onwards and upwards,
FOTMs.
This too shall pass.
As always,
I'm honored you've taken
the time to listen.
And I wish you nothing but
peace
and love. We'll see you next time. It's getting better every way And it's getting closer every day
I can see that we are only getting stronger
I can see that it's not gonna take much longer
I can see it now, it's bound to be alright
I can see we've got to finish what we started
I can see it now, I won't be brokenhearted
I can see it now, let this be the night
Cause it gets bigger, every single time I'm near you
It gets better, every single time I'm near you it gets better Every single time we touch it's getting better every way
And it's getting closer every day
I've had doubts that I'd be getting in too deep
I was always in a daze and I couldn't get to sleep
But you had faith and you always had the time
We finally found the answer and now everything is fine Hey, every day I try a little bit harder
Every day I get a little bit smarter
And every day I see it's bound to be alright
And it gets bigger
Every single time I alright And it gets better Every single time I'm near you
It gets better
Every single time we touch
It's getting better every way
And it's getting closer every day
Every single time I'm near you
It gets better
Every single time we touch near you, it gets better. Every single time we touch, it's getting better every way.
And it's getting closer every day.
Hey!
Getting closer, closer every day.
Hey!
Hey!
Every day I try. Every day I try. Hey!
