And this is the 17th volume of F-O-T-M-K-O-T-J.
That means F-O-T-M's like you
have recorded themselves for 30 to 60 seconds talking about a song they love.
And they managed to email me that file to mike at torontomike.com.
Just dropping that there because I'd like to do an 18th volume.
So send me your jam kicking and I'll include it on the next volume. So without further ado, here's volume
17 of FOTM KOTJ. It's gonna take a lot of love
To change the way things are
It's gonna take a lot of love
And we won't get too far
So if you look in my direction
And we don't see eye to eye
My heart needs protection
And so do I
It's gonna take a lot of love
To get us through the night
It's gonna take a lot of love
To make this work out right
So if you are out there waiting
I hope you show up soon
You know I need relating
Not solitude
I need relating not solitude Hey Mike, this is Julie from the band 1977.
And my song of choice for Friends of Toronto Mike Kicking Out the Jams
was written by Neil Young, but it was performed by Nicolette Larson.
It's a song that I used to hear all the time on the radio on 1050 Chum growing up.
I think it's especially meaningful in these times.
The song has actually become somewhat of a mantra for me as well, so much so that I've
had it as a link for my bio on Twitter for the last 12 years.
I think we could all use a lot of love
To change the way things are
It's gonna take a lot of love
But we won't get too far
It's gonna take a lot of love
It's gonna take a lot of love
It's gonna take a lot of love
The American in me that makes me watch the blood

Hi Mike, James Edgar here with another FOTM Ketelta Jams tune.
This time it's by a band that was name dropped by Cameron Carpenter.
When you had him on, he mentioned that he had seen them, and I'm very jealous.
The band is called The Avengers.
The song is The American and Me.
It's a super classic punk rock song, and it really does fit today's times.
It was also covered by The Forgotten Rebels, which is another great version.
Anyway, have a good one thanks bye I'm stuck here
No way out
Back, you can never go back

Stop talking.
You can never go back.
You can never go back.
You can never go.
But you get it when you say it.
I'll go back one day.
What you said, what you do, I'll go back to you.
What you do, what you say, I'll go back.
But you can never go back. But you can never go back. Hi, Mike. Hi Mike, I'd like to submit Watch Your Back by The Coathangers.
They're one of the bands I most recently got into.
They evoke the 90s ride girl and influence stuff they used to love.
Their last album has a more lowkey grungy feel, but this earlier track is just awesome.
The video is really worth checking need to. What you say, what you do, I'll come back to you What you do, what you say, I'll come back
But you can never come back, but you can never come back
What you do, what you say, I'll come back one day
What you say, what you do, I'll come back to you
What you do, what you say, I'll come back
But you can never come back, but you can never come back Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand.
With an equal opportunity for all to sing, dance, and clap their hands.
Just because a record has a groove, don't make it into groove.
But you can tell right away, left left to A When the people start to move
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over
Feel it
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over
Go! Making things all over Music knows it is and always will
Be one of the things that life just won't quit
But here are some of music's pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget now
There's Faye St. Millicent, Tim Moore, and the King of All Sudu
And with a voice like Alice ringing out There's no way St. Millis, Tim Moore, and the King of All Seduction. And with a voice like Alice ringing out, there's no way the band could lose.
You can feel it all over.
You can feel it all over, people.
You can feel it all over.
You can feel it all over, people. Hey, Toronto Mike and fellow FOTMs, it's Becky.
This is my fourth submission for FOTM KOTJ.
And this one is really just a feel-good, happy song.
And it never fails to put a smile on my face.
So hopefully it does the same for
you it's Sir Duke by the legend Stevie Wonder You can feel it all over, you can feel it all over, fever
You can feel it all over, I can feel it all over, all over, nothing
Can't you feel it all over?
Come on, let can feel it.

Comes a day when the line that you draw
Is the line you break
Now the tide has turned
A good lesson learned
Cause I ain't going down in this town with my last mistake
I'm walking away, I'm a diving baby
Whatever you say, I'm letting it go
I'm walking away, with a smile on my face
Cause I'm not the same girl you used to know
No, no
It was the time I'd cry
I know I'm flying high
A long way from the day when my wings were in your hands I got a brand new song Bye. Hello Mike and fellow FOTMs, Midtown Gord here.
As this is the first KLTJ of 2021, I thought I would look back in hindsight at 2020.
And one of the great things that happened to me, or most exciting things that happened to me in a rough year was that Mike had Lee Earn on as a guest.
And I helped coordinate that, so I got a shout out. So that was quite exciting.
So I thought I'd share Lee Earn's Diamond's Diamond Baby, a title track from her most
recent studio album from a couple of years ago, and look forward for a new studio album in 2021
from Leigh Aron. I'm walking away. I'm a diamond, baby.
Whatever you say, I'm letting it go. I'm walking away with a smile on my face.
I'm not the same girl you used to know.
I'm walking away.
I'm a diamond, baby.
I'm walking away I'm a diamond baby
Whatever you say
I'm letting it go, go, go
Walking away
With a smile on my face

I curse the dark and I pray for the light
And sometimes the light's no consolation
And I can't find the memory
Of freedom, what it might do to me
And the tears and the sweats
Only mark my desperation
Don't you know me, I'm the boy next door
The one you find so easy to ignore
Is that what I was fighting for?
Walking on a thin line
Straight off the front line
Let all homeless freaks
Loose on the streets of the city
Parking on a thin line
Angry all the time
Take a look at my face
See what it's to answer me
Taught me how to shoot to kill A specialist with a deadly skill
A skill I needed to have
To be a survivor
It's open now, so to say
Well, sometimes it don't work out that way
Cause you're never the same when you're better
And if I learn
Don't you know me
I'm the boy next door
The one you find
So easy to ignore
Is that what I was
Fighting for
Walking on a pin line
Straight off the front line
Leveled as freaks
Loose on the streets of the city
Walking on a thin line
Angry all the time
Take a look at my face
See what it's done to me
Hi Mike, it's done to me.
Hi Mike, it's Mike Rogoski. The song that I've submitted is Walking on a Thin Line by Huey Lewis and the News. It's off their sports album and this is significant for me because it's the first
album I ever bought with my own money. I can remember as a kid I had my little cassette player
and I would sit in my room when I'd be goofing around or doing whatever I was doing and I'd listen to this tape and I always remember flipping it over, listening to the other side after the first side was done.
roll and there was if this is it but I always thought this one walking on a thin line had a nice little catchy catchiness to it that I always liked listening to and always look forward to
hearing what was on the album and I took a listen to sports again the other day and I think that
album still holds up pretty pretty well so that's my pick hope you like it and have a great day
thanks Mike Hope you like it and have a great day. Thanks, Mike. Walking on a thin line Walking on a thin line guitar solo It took a long time
It will not go away
Oh holy matters of the heart
Misery from the start
Left alone in a hurry the star left alone
in a hurry
so I wouldn't
rain down on you
my lot is worried
honey
how about you
throw it all away yeah Honey, how about you?
Throw it all away Got you knocking on my door
For me you were looking for
Tell me how it is
For the end of all again
Got you knocking on my door
What you were lookin' for
Tell me how it is
Fuckin' feelin' the heart again
Said you love me
I'll make a home for you
Tell me all those good things I'd no reason to doubt you Hey Mike, this is Brian Shelley from Barry.
And my pick is Hello Tender Love by the band Zeus,
who are based in Toronto,
although the members of the band grew up here in Simcoe County
in between Barry and Aurelia.
Zeus is awesome.
Those of you who haven't listened to them yet,
you need to check them out.
When live music returns, you need to see them live.
I picked this song because there is an incredible
rock and roll scream at
approximately 3 minutes and 20 seconds
into the song. This is a jam.
This is a rock and roll
band. Be well.
Stay safe. And thanks so much
to yourself, Stu, and Cam for the Pandemic
Fridays that help us get through
these strange, strange times.
Peace! Fridays that help us get through these strange, strange times. Peace. To the kind of love that you're getting
The kind of truth that we're living
Is really such a show
But you knew
And I knew Cause when you kiss And I knew
Cause when you kiss me I see ghosts
I see through
Throw it in
Choke love
You get a detonate
Burning with the stars above
Yeah a dead net burning with the stars above. Yeah! Yeah!
Got you knocking on that door
It's the day we're looking for
Tell me how it is Thank you. Tell me how it is, to feel your heart again Got you knocking on my door
To me you were looking for
Tell me how it is, to feel your heart again
Got you knocking on my door
Got you knocking on my door
Got you knocking on my door
Got you knocking on my door
Got you knocking on my door
We were born without time Nameless in the arms of a mother
A father and God
When the world would wait for us
a thousand years
in the crush of our
eyes
fearless and
on
Quietly
we'd fade into
sleep
with nothing on our minds Then we longed to be loved
In the rush we'd become
Some things we thought we'd never be.
We were surprised by how hard left weary and scarred from the nights spent feeling incomplete.
Feeling incomplete And all those evenings swearing at the sky
Wishing for more time
All the promises we made when we tried
Just wasting our time
Hi Mike, it's Marcus.
I figured you needed at least one song from this band
during the pandemic for your FOT kick out the jams.
I heard about this song from a girl I went on a date with
and I'm going to just say that it's the best part of the date.
It also contains one of my favorite song lyrics
and it comes like a punch in the gut, in the back, in the face
Song is All at Once by the Airborne Toxic Events
In the gut, in the back, in the face
When it seems someone's alive
And our parents have died
And we hold on to each other in their place
And I feel the water rising around us And maybe that's okay
Yeah, I feel the world changing all at once I guess it'll be right back. guitar solo And we all had one hope
There was someone looking down
To return our bodies to each other
And the ground guitar solo They get up every morning from the alarm clock's warning
Take the 815 into the city
There's a whistle up above and people pushing
People shoving at the girls who try to look pretty
And if your dreams aren't time, you can get to work by nine
And start your slave and job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed, look at me, I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I've been taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been Taking care of business
It's all mine
Taking care of business
And working overtime
Workout
There's work easy as fishing
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds
Laudermallow
Get a second hand guitar
Chances are you'd go far
If you're kidding with the right bunch of bellows
People see you having fun
Just a lion in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid and we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day
And we've been taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
We've been taking care of business, it's all right Taking care of business. Every way we be taking care of business. It's all right. Taking care of business.
Working overtime.
Well, Mike, on this auspicious occasion, uh, Taking Care of Business by Bachman Turner Overdrive.
It's just one of those songs that every time I hear it, I have to stop and crank it.
Simple as that. It's an iconic Canadian song from an iconic Canadian songwriter.
Thanks, man. Peace out, and take care. They get up every morning from the long clock's warning Take the 815 into the city
There's a whistle off above and people pushing
People shoving and the girls are trying to look pretty
And if you're trained on time you can get your work by night
And start your slave and job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed look at me, I'm self-employed
All up for work and nothing all day
And I've been taking care of business
Every day
Taking care of business
Every way I've been taking care of business
It's all mine
Taking care of business
Working overtime. Taking care of business.

Hey Mike, it's Linda.
This was a song that I heard when I was working at my first summer job when I was 15 years old.
And back then my tastes were pretty well either disco that I listened to with my friends or hard rock that I listened to with my brother.
But one of the people I worked with came from the UK and he played
this song by orchestral maneuvers in the dark and I just absolutely loved it I
hadn't heard anything like it it was fun to listen to it was very high energy I
just played it over and over again and that got me onto the path of alternative
rock which is still my
favorite type of music to this day so this is Electricity by Orchestra
Maneuvers in the Dark Electricity All we need is a little bit

Just a change is nearly gone

Solar electricity guitar solo Electricity

Electricity Electricity, electricity, electricity, electricity Hey Toronto Mike and friends of Toronto Mike, it's Andrew Ward here.
For this FOTM Jamcast, I want to request something that's been helpful during these times,
especially for parents with loud kids, and especially for anyone that yearns
for calm. The track I'd like to hear is the first selection from Music for Airports by Brian Eno,
formerly of Roxy Music. These albums that Brian Eno made at this time were and are special.
In fact, this one in particular was once the soundtrack
that you would hear if you ever walked into New York's LaGuardia Airport
in the early 1980s.
When it was released, the album was described as
self-indulgent and lacking focus,
and in today's context, perhaps something that snowflakes would enjoy.
But what the reviews never said are what I'm saying.
If, like me, you have kids who some days won't calm the fuck down,
play this and rest well.

See you all next week. Everything is rosy and green Well, you've been under my skin for more than eight years
It's been eight years of laughter and eight years of tears
And I don't know what the future can hold or do
For me and you
But I'm a much better man for having known you
Oh, you know that's true because
Everything is coming up rosy and gray
Yeah, the wind is cold but the smell of snow
Wants me today
And your smile is fine and it's just like mine
and it won't go away
Cause everything is
rosy and green
Well I've been told
that there's a sucker born
every day
But I wonder who
Yeah
I wonder who Maybe yeah, I wonder who
Maybe the one who doesn't realize
There's a thousand shades of grey
Cause I know that's true, yes I do
I know it's true, yeah
I know it's true
How about you?
All them picking up trash and them putting down ropes How about you? Maybe I'm not and maybe I am But who gives a damn
Because everything is coming up
Rosy and gray
Yeah, the wind is cold
But the smell of snow
Warms me today
And your smile is fine
And it's just like mine
And it won't go away
Because everything is rosy and green.
Well, I've kissed you in France and I've kissed you in Spain.
And I've kissed you in places I better not name.
And I've seen the sun go down on Shakhtar Khor
But I like it much better going down on you
Yeah, you know that's true
Because everything is coming up
Rosy and green
Yeah, the wind is cold
But the smell of snow warms us today
And your smile is fine, and it's just like mine, and it won't go away
Cause everything is rosy now, everything is rosy, yeah
Everything is rosy and gray
