I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for a special out there
Guaranteed personality
I wasn't born so much as I fell out. Nobody seemed to notice me. We had a
hedge back home in the suburb over which I never could see. I heard the people who live
on the ceiling scream and fight with scurvy you Hearing that noise was my first ever feeling
That's how it's been all around me
I'm all lost in the supermarket
I cannot wish up happily
I came in here for a special offer
A guaranteed personality
I'm all tuned in, I see all the programs
I save coupons, packets of tea
I've got my giant discotheque album
I empty a bottle, I feel a bit free
Kits and hauls and the pipes in the walls
Make me noises for company
Long distance callers make long distance calls
And the silence makes me lonely
I lost in a supermarket
A candle on the shop happily

Down to the sunny street
The different drummers
Play a different kind of beat
It's like a mystery
That never ends
I see you crying
And I want to kill your friends
I hear your footsteps in the street
We'll be low before we cry
It's obvious
Just come in, come out
And I'll be waiting for the child
I'm here
Mad M launch is okay
Said no one really changed
Got different badges
But they wear them just the same
Down by the ballroom
I recognize
That flaming fountain
And those kindred caring eyes
I hear you put stands in the street
You won't come on before we
It's obvious
Just come in and come out
And I'll be waiting for the show
I hope it hurts me till I'm hopeless
I hope it hits you when you go
Sometimes on the edge of sleeping
It rises up to let me know
It's not so deep, I'm not so slow They're calling all the shots, they're calling to save the phone
They call us lonely when we really just belong
Like a funny film, it's kinda cute
They bought the bullets and there's no one left to shoot
I hear you've been stabbed in the street
Long ago before we knew
It's obvious
Just come in and call me out
And I'll be waiting for the show
Oblivious
I hear you footsteps in the street
We'll go on before we know
It's obvious
Just come in and call me out
And I'll be right back. I just got your message, baby
It's a sight to see you fade away
The world is a-spinning
Catch a breath and leave me reeling
It'll get you in the end, it's God's revenge
Oh, I know I should come clean
But I prefer to deceive
Every day I walk alone
And I pray that God won't see me
I know it's wrong me I know it's wrong I know it's wrong
Tell me why
Is it I'm taking your sin?
I know I'm dying
Baby Maybe They put you in a home to fill in
Oh, but I wouldn't call that living
I'm like a boy among men
I'd like a permanent friend
I'd like to think that I was just myself again
Oh, tell me why
Is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die
Baby I just got your message baby
So sad to see you fade away.
I'm like a boy among men.
I'm like a permanent friend.
I'd like to think that I was just myself again.
Now tell me why is it I'm digging your scene I know I'll die
Baby, oh tell me why
Is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die Baby Come on, baby Well, you've got me working so hard lately
Working my hands until they bleed
If I was twice the man I could be Check, check, check, check, check. you know i'll do this one act of consecration is what i ask of you and see step of flesh and blood
offering
to me
well you just
leave me nailed here
hanging like Jesus
on this cross.
I'm just dying for your sins and aiding to the cause.
The promise carved in stone, deeper than I see.
I'm still a flesh and bone.
I'm for it to me. Thank you. Rock my eyes in bandages
Confessions I see through
I get everything I want
When I get part of you
You can put on a scraped stone
That's deeper than the sea
You can suffer flesh and bone
And offer it to me
A promised cotton stone
Deeper than the sea
Devil's flesh and bone
Do something for me Thank you. Welcome to Party for Marty for everyone that's here already.

and I'm so honored to be here with DJ Paul Dhingra, DJ Swarma, DJ Craig Gee.
We have a lot of great guests to speak tonight.

If you want to get your soul to heaven
Trust in me now, don't you judge or question
You are broken now but faith can heal you
Just do everything I tell you to do
Damp and blind and dumb
And born to follow
What you need is
Someone strong to guide you
Damp and blind and dumb
And born to follow
Let me lay my foot
And hand up, hand up on you Let me lay my holy hand upon you
My God's will becomes me
When he speaks, he speaks to me
He has needs like I do
We both want to rape you
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now
Open my eyes, light me with your light now
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now
Open my eyes, light me with your light now Open my eyes blind me with your
light now

welcome to a party for marty a tribute to Martin Streak.
My name is Pete Fowler.
We have some special guests right up now to tell you some really fantastic stories and their memories of Martin Streak.
First up, a man who is described by his current and former staff as the greatest boss ever.
He's so glad, and they're so glad, that he doesn't wear bike shorts to work.
He spent eight years working at CFY during that time, along with Ivor Hamilton, created
Live in Toronto.
He was responsible for the Thursday 30, Beats Per Minute, and Friday Night High.
He even hosted the morning show for a year that changed when Humble and Fredder...
Humble and...
Humble Howard fucked off to the mix.
After leaving CFY, he became the program director of Energy 108,
building a massive audience
of three quarters of a million people
with a dance music format
until Chorus fucked it up.
In 2003, he packed up his Miata
and headed to Vancouver
to program the Beat 94.5,
a true innovator and a legend
in Canadian radio circles.
He's also a vegan
and a connoisseur of single malt
sculch. Please welcome Mr. Scott Turner.
Good lord, good lord, hello.
There we are. Thank you. I just laugh because I came with a friend tonight who's also named Scott.
Scott Fraser and I, Scott runs a bunch of restaurants in town.
You ever go to Hogtown Smoke?
And then Scott used to run a bunch of nightclubs.
But when we came back from England in the late 80s,
we actually put on one of the first raves,
and it was actually here at the Opera House.
There's a staircase back here. The DJ booth used
to be, you couldn't even see it from back there. Up in the sky, we had to carry our records up there,
and we had, nobody showed up because it was 1990, and nobody knew anything about raves,
but we were ahead of our time, and I got that from working at CFNY. Everything was ahead of its time,
And I got that from working at CFNY.
Everything was ahead of its time.
And that's where I was first inspired from a guy named David Marsden,
who I first listened to on Chum FM,
back when it was really cool playing progressive music. And here's a guy who's never stopped doing what he did from back in those days,
being progressive and doing what he wants.
And it was this gentleman that hired Marty.
And one of my greatest memories, and always still is a great memory with Martin Streak,
is working the road shows.
You might have seen one of the slides up there of Ivor Hamilton and I,
and I was always jealous of Martin's hair.
He always had the greatest hair.
And David, didn't I ask you recently?
I said he should have his own hairline because he still has the greatest, the greatest hair. And David, didn't I ask you recently? I said he should have his own hairline,
because he still has the greatest, thickest hair.
In my next life, I'm coming back with David Marsden
and Martin Streak hair.
So still a mentor to me and a man I always look up to.
And the man who hired Martin Streak, David Marzin.
It's the hair of your arm. What are you guys doing way back there?
Come on up here, come on up here, what the hell?
Seriously now, come on.
You look too old when you're back there.
Come on up here.
Come up here, there's a reason you're gonna find out
in a while.
How are ya?
So anyway, oh.
Good lord, Rob Stewart.
And Mrs. Stewart too.
Lord, Rob Stewart and Mrs. Stewart too. I remember I was in my office and this guy came in, he was probably 17 years old, and he was looking for a job and I said to him you know what have you done
in the business of radio this was CF and why by the way and he said nothing and I
said okay then you got the gig well we didn't know what we were going to do with him
Ivor Hamilton who you're all going to get to see later
he had started something called the CFNY Roadshow
and I kind of thought
maybe this is where Marty could go
there was Ivor, where is he? Where are you there? There was these guys. I'm going to bring them up early. And so the road show had just bought itself a five ton truck to move the thing around from high school to
high school to high school.
So anyway, we needed somebody who had a special license to drive this five-ton truck.
Remember? Yeah.
And Ivor was too busy, and Roger wasn't interested in being the driver, because he was like the center of it all.
And
I said, Marty, can you get the license?
And he said, of course.
I said, okay.
Go get it.
He went through all the tests and all the business where you drive around in a big truck and all that other shit.
And I still remember as if it were like yesterday.
About three months later, I'm sitting in my office
you know we're all being sitting up straight in our chairs
being good
and all of a sudden I hear this guy
he comes in the front door
he goes rolling down
all the alleyways and the hallways
and he's in and he's out of the studios
and he's screaming I got it
and from that point on
he could drive the big five-ton truck.
But you know, from that point of being in the roast show with these two characters, and Roger. I went to Vancouver. I went to Vancouver and I came back a decade later
and this man was an absolute radio star. I was at Andy Poole Hall doing a gig. It was somebody's birthday. I don't
remember who. His mom? Was his mom's birthday? I can't remember. Kevin O'Leary's birthday.
Kevin O'Leary, thank you.
Not the guy on TV that does that shtick where he's mean to everybody.
Different Kevin O'Leary.
Anyway, I'm on the DJ stand, and Martin Streak comes in. He comes up on the DJ stand.
We hug, and he whispers in my ear, And Martin Streak comes in. He comes up on the DJ stand.
We hug.
And he whispers in my ear.
He says,
I've just been fired.
I look back and I said, yeah, right.
Good joke, good joke.
He said, no, it's real.
They took me down.
Number one on the station, highest ratings ever,
and they fired him.
That's not the way CFNY should be,
at least for those of us who were there when it was good.
I said to him,
let's get together next week and have a drink,
and I'll get you something.
I'll find a station, we'll get you back.
And he said, that's great. But he said, I'm going to California first. I'll be there,
and when I get back, we'll have that drink. So he went to California. I don't remember. I think
he was there a week, maybe two. He came back. We talked on the phone.
And he seemed absolutely ready for anything.
And I said, okay.
Let's set up something in a couple of days.
We'll have a drink.
And I'll get you back into the system somehow.
He said, that'd be great, David.
Two days later, he left us.
Nobody knows why.
Nobody understands why.
Especially those of us who know him well.
But the one thing that we do know is that forever and ever
we'll keep it
got to get it right
we'll keep it
locked and cranked.
Okay, you guys, hang on a minute.
Can you tighten up a little bit?
Come on down here. I want to take a picture, and then I'm going to go.
And Scott Turner to the stage. Scott Turner to the stage.
Scott Turner to the stage. David wants to
have this look like we're back at Kingswood at the Smith Show
in 84, okay?
We're back at Ontario Place. Or a
UNO too. A UNO's award as well. Ivor, Roger.
Scott's gonna do a really nice introduction for you since you guys know so
know each other so well. I didn't know David
was a photographer. That was very cool.
Got film in, David?
I'm supposed to introduce you, I think,
because if you don't know who this gentleman is, we started live in Toronto many years ago,
which is a great program that lived on for many, many years on this station.
Ivor Hamilton.
Hey, everybody.
One more thing.
If you don't know, Ivor's still in the music business. He works at Universal Music. Hey everybody. One more thing. Go ahead.
If you don't know, Ivor is still in the music business.
He works at Universal Music.
How long have you been at Universal Music?
31 years.
That's amazing. Pretty cool.
So over to you, Ivor.
All right.
So my relationship with Marty was from the early days. And it was with this guy here, with Scott not only, but this is Roger Powell.
This guy ran the CFNY Video Roadshow.
If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have had the CFNY Video Roadshow.
He did all the gear, did all the sound.
Every time I blew the speakers and turned it up to 11, he fixed it.
So we went through the wars. We did, I think Roger and I and Marty were at every high school in this province.
Every university.
College, university.
Got ripped off at every nightclub that refused to pay us.
And when David talked about Marty driving the truck, we drove it all the way.
He drove it all the way up to Quebec City during the Shamrock Summit.
And we got kicked out of the hotel because of Ronald Reagan.
Yeah, we had Brian Mulroney and Ronald Reagan moving in.
We had the U.S. Marine Corps come to a road show, which was really interesting.
We had rifles in through the lobby.
And Martin being a very crafty young man like myself, we had stayed a few extra days.
And we decided to sneak around the hotel at 3 o'clock in the morning, being out one night.
And we were concerned about getting caught by the U.S. Secret Service.
We were concerned about getting caught by the U.S. Secret Service.
So Martin got the bright idea to evade detection, to jump into the dumbwaiter and take himself up a couple of floors.
And he ended up on the roof of the Shadow Front Neck at 3 o'clock in the morning.
And he's like, he comes back to the room.
He's, you've got to come with me.
You've got to come with me, you've got to come with me.
So we end up on the roof of the Shadow Frontenac,
overlooking the St. Lawrence River,
one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life.
Marty was always about adventure, fun,
such a genuine, beautiful spirit.
And the other thing I'll say is he was a really funny guy, too.
I think most of you knew he had a great sense of humor. Talk about his good friend Paul, and he used to imitate his grandma, Paul's grandma all
the time.
When, yeah.
So, I'd like everybody after me to say, hi grandma!
Time for a nice cup of tea! Martin would love you for it. Okay so
tonight's also the going to cause all tonight's cause is CIBC run for cancer
so it's a great thing that Marty wanted everybody to be a part of we know he
really supported that so please do what you can to support that. It's a great cause.
Something he loved.
I'm honestly really humbled
by this event that 10 years after
the fact we're all here still
celebrating Marty. And I also want to give a
shout out to a couple of the other great
DJs that we've lost. DJ
Trance, Don Burns in the last couple of years.
And let's give it up for Bookie too
because we love Bookie, too.
All right?
Thank you very much.
Thank you, Ivor. Thank you, Mr. Streak.
Thank you,
Roger, Ivor.
Let's dance, okay? We're going to get to some
more people coming up here, telling their
stories of Martin Streak.
We have CBC Run to the Cure,
and also Canadian Cancer Society back there
for donations. And we also have some limited edition posters with all the speakers' signatures
on it. We only got 15. 100% of the money goes to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Martin was always behind.
So let's have some fun, dance, listen to some orgy,
and by all means, you got a request?
We want to hear it.
Just come up to the side.
Let's have some fun as we make tribute to Mr. Martin Street. How does it feel
To treat me like you do
When you've laid your hands upon me
And told me who you are
I thought I was mistaken
I thought I heard your words
Tell me how do I feel
Tell me now how do I feel
How does it feel
How should I feel
Tell me how does it feel
To dream things like you do?
Those who came before me
Lived through the revocations
From the past until completion
They will turn away no more
And I still find it so hard
To say what I need to say
But I'm quite sure that you'll tell me
Just how I should feel today I see a ship in the harbor
A cannon shot away But if it wasn't for your misfortunes
I'd be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken
And I thought I heard you speak
Tell me how do I feel
Tell me now how should I feel?
Now I stand here waiting
I thought I told you to leave me
While I walk down to the beach
Tell me how does it feel
When your heart grows cold Girl, no, girl, no How does it feel?
How should I feel?
Tell me how does it feel
To treat me like you do?
How does it feel to treat me like you do?
How does it feel?
How should I feel? Tell me, how does it feel to treat me like you do?
How does it feel?
Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? We'll be right back. Okay, are you ready? Ready. Where your head at? Where your head at? Where your head at?
Don't let the walls cave in on you
You can't live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
You can't live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
You get what you give, that part is true.
Don't let the walls carry me on you.
You turn the world away from you.
Where you at?
Where you at?
Where you at?
Where you at?
Where you at? Where head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at?
Where's your head at?

Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? Where's your head at? You have now found yourself
Trapped in the incomprehensible maze
Y'all know how it be
Where's your head?
You don't make it easy on yourself Where's your head? 이 영상은 한국의 한국의

Because she loves me so
And this I know for sure
But does she really want her?
But can't stand to see me walk out the door

Come on, raise your glasses.
Let's raise our glasses to Martin Streak.
Let's have a toast for Dave Bookman,
Reiner Schwartz,
Don Burns, who used to do purgatory here.
It's a great night to celebrate.
Our next couple of guests, one is described as one of the friendliest and nicest people
on radio.
She started at CFOI in 1986, part-time.
David Marston hired her.
She's on Boom right now.
She did The Nooner for years.
You know her as Miss Mae Potts. Mae Potts, as well as someone,
one of the favorite shows that I listen to continuously,
I've been listening to for over 20 years,
the ongoing history of new music.
Does the podcast Geeks and Beats,
Journal of Musical Things, I read it every day.
He's a award-winning program director an
all-around fantastic human being both of them Alan Cross Maypots
hi there okay so I heard myself being introduced just as I got to the back of the room to get my drink and I was toasting Marty.
And you know what? I got to say, when I heard about this event, I don't know about you, Alan,
but I was so touched that everybody still feels so strongly about Marty and we miss him so much.
And it's so nice that we get together to celebrate a wonderful person and a wonderful life. Now when you first met him I think we all started
about the same time. Within a couple of months of each other. Within a couple of months
of each other at CFNY. So my first experience working with Marty was with
the CFNY Roadshow. And he's just so beautiful. He was gorgeous, right?
And that's like, we would go out to these road shows
and Marty looked so hot.
And I'm like, damn, I spent hundreds of dollars on perms
and my hair doesn't look that good.
I know we talk about Marty's hair a lot,
but it was outstanding.
He was beautiful.
He was pretty much effortless when it came to style. I was always very jealous of him.
And whenever I tried to emulate him, he would let me know that I got it wrong. Which was
all the time.
So when we would go out to these road shows, what was really great about it was a lot of
them were in high schools here in Toronto, but a lot of them were in high schools in places like Bowmanville and Orangeville and, I don't know,
far, far outside of the city.
And those kids meant so much to Marty in that
he always wanted to make sure everybody had a great time.
So there's these high school kids, they're there,
and it's a big deal.
It wasn't as big of a deal in the Toronto schools, but when you get outside of the city,
a cool high school dance like the Video Roadshow is a big deal at your school.
And Marty was so kind to those kids, and Marty always had a way of being charming
and making people feel special and always wanting to make sure they had a great time.
He would spend an awful lot of time with the kids before, during and after each of these road shows.
And when I first came here, I didn't really know much about Toronto and the surrounding area.
And I relied on Martin a lot to teach me what the heritage of CFMI was all about,
the music that the station played and what the heritage of CFMY was all about, the music that the
station played, and what the attitude of the whole alternative thing was.
And if it had not been for Marty and for the CFMY video roadshows and the people that we
met and hung out with at those roadshows, not just in high schools but in colleges and
universities, I don't know where I'd be, honestly.
And then when you take that care that he had for people wanting to be a great host and making sure they had a great time, and you combine that with his love of music and his passion for radio, you can only imagine why those live-to-airs were so popular.
They were a rite of passage.
Yeah. And you probably know what I'm talking about. You would be 13, 14, 15 years of age.
You would listen to the live to airs with Martin on the radio.
And you would think, when I turn 19, I'm going to go.
And when you finally got to go to the Kingdom or the Phoenix or Whiskey Saigon,
you were an adult music fan in Toronto.
You were an adult music fan in Toronto.
So further to that, my daughter was born in 1989.
And so she grew up as a CFNY kid.
And when she turned 19, what did she want to do?
She said, hey, mom, do you think Martin will put me on the guest list for the Phoenix?
He did.
She had a great time because Martin always made sure that everybody felt special and that they did have a good time.
And that was a real kind of full circle moment for me to have my kid
go and enjoy a night with Martin Streak at the Phoenix.
So, you know, that means a lot to, I think,
a lot of us when we think about Martin
is how he cared about everybody having a good time.
So I think the best thing we can do tonight
is honor Martin by having a great time.
Absolutely.
Cheers to Marty.
There.
Let's hear it again for May Potts and Alan Cross.
Fantastic.
As a DJ gets a drink.
I thought I would talk about Marty just a little bit. Most of you know that he did five, six club gigs a week.
He would do Energy, then he'd do Fever, then he would do like the Trasheteria and Club Max,
and then he would do the Phoenix, and he was always around.
And it got me thinking, he did three live-to-airs a week,
Whiskey, Club Max, or Energy, or the Phoenix, 410 Sherbourne Street.
And I started to think, I wonder how many people had sex to Martin's voice.
Because he was on five nights a week, but three live to airs.
And, you know, late at night, you got the club thing going.
And Marty was always so unpredictable, but in a really, really, really cool, mischievous, good way.
And I just love him for that.
And I'm so glad that everyone came out tonight.
And we're going to keep on keeping it locked and cranked all night.
We have more speakers.
We have more dancing to do.
And as Dave Bookman said, tonight, this is Marty's club.
We're just dancing in it. Oh, chocolate girl, wow, you're looking like something I want
I'm your little Asian friend, well, she can come if she wants
I want all the self-conscious girls who try to hide with makeup
You know it's so cool in the front with the tight pants I really want to shake up I'm finding out true love's mine You know it's so cold in the front with the tight pants I really wanna shake up
I'm finding out true love's mine
Hey, carrot juice
I wanna squeeze you away until you bleed
I'm finding out true love's mine

Wind you up and make you call to me
Tie you up until you call to me Got a big plan, this mindset
Maybe it's right at the right place
In right time, maybe tonight
In a whisper or handshake
Sending a sign, wanna make out
And kiss hard, wait never mind
Late night, been passing Mention mention it flipped to her best friend
It's no thing, maybe it's lip, but the slip turns to terror and a crush to like
Then she walked in, he froze up, leave it to fright
It's cute in a way, till you cannot speak
And you leave to have a cigarette, knees get weak
Escape was just a nod and a casual wave
Obsessed about it heavy for the next
two days. It's only just a crush, it'll go away. It's just like all the others, it'll go away.
Or maybe this is danger and you just don't know. You pray it all away but it continues to grow.
I want to hold you close Skin pressed against the inside
Lie still, close your eyes girl
So lovely, it feels so right
I want to hold you close
Soft breath, mean it hard
As I whisper in your ear
I wanna fucking tear you apart Then he walked up and told her thinking
maybe it'd pass and they talked and
looked away a lot doing the dance
Her hand brushed up against his
She left it there there told him how she
felt and then they locked in a stare they took a step back thought about it what should they do
because there's always repercussions when you're dating in school but their lips met
and reservations started to pass whether this was just an evening or a thing that would last
either way he wanted her and this was bad wanted It's a two things tour, it was making him crazy
Now a little crush turned into a like
And now he wants to grab her by the hair and tell her
I want to hold you close
Skin pressed against me tight
Lie still, close your eyes girl
So lovely it feels so right I want to hold you close, soft breath, beating heart
As I whisper in your ear, I wanna fucking tear you apart Thank you. I want to hold you close
Skin pressed against me
Tight, lie still Close your eyes, girl I want to hold you close Skin pressed against me tight
Lie still, close your eyes girl
So lovely it feels so right
I want to hold you close
Soft breath meeting heart
As I whisper in your ear
I wanna fucking tear you apart
I want to hold you close
Skin pressed against me tight
Why still close your eyes girl
So lovely it feels so right
I want to hold you close
Soft breath, bleeding heart
As I whisper in your ear
I wanna fucking tear you apart. Hey, what did you hear me say?
You know the difference it makes
What did you hear me say?
Yes, I've said it's fine before
But I don't think so no more
I said it's fine before
I've changed my mind
I take it back
Erase and rewind Erasing Rewind I've changed my mind
So, where did you see me go?
It's not the right way, you know
Where did you see me go?
No
It's not that I don't know
I just don't want it to grow
It's not that I don't know
I've changed my mind
I'll take it back
Erase and rewind
Cause I've been changing my mind
Erase and rewind
Cause I've been changing my mind
Erase and rewind
Cause I've been changing my mind
Erase and rewind Erasing rewind I've changed my mind
This town gets lonely after midnight
And when the animal hunger runs deep
I know I'm never gonna get to sleep.
Well, some people claim, but I know, I know.
The deepest, darkest place to go.
You never get out once they let you in.
You never get out once they let you in You never get out once they let you in
You'll be nothing but a club thing What would you say to be paid to be one of the beautiful
Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl
One thing's for sure, one thing's for certain That if you get behind the velvet curtain
You'll see that nothing's as sweet as it looks on my TV
You need a cold solar concrete here
And you gotta feel without pity
You need a cold solar concrete here
Just like the soul, the soul of the city
What would you say to me, play to me
One of the beautiful

He knows that he's the king, the king of the cardboard jungle
He knows he cannot fight, from what it appears to enslave her
He's got a hunger, for the sweetest of hands
Well don't worry baby now, it won't be long
Once the hunger's started to take you in
Before you know it, you will be gone, gone, gone
To be just another club friend
What would you say to me, babe?
To be one of the beautiful
Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl
What would you say to me, babe? Such a beautiful girl
What would you say to me? Play to be one of the beautiful

Okay, we have these really cool posters.
There's only 15 of them.
Hey, Bob.
Bob, you made it out.
Hey, Bob Willett.
They're at the booth there for Canadian Cancer Society.
There's only 15 of them.
They're all signed.
Not this one.
But they're all signed by all the speakers tonight.
So if you want one, 100% of the money
goes to the Canadian Cancer Society.
20 bucks a poster, there's only 15,
and they're in the back.
Now, we have another guest.
A guy that was fired
for missing all the swearing that Ted
Wolloshin did at CFNY
when he was there, and then of course rehired,
worked at CFNY, was the producer of the All, of course, rehired, worked at CFNY,
was the producer of the All Request Breakfast,
went to Q10 Zeppelin.
Now he's in Oshawa, and he's a fantastic human being.
Please welcome Craig Venn.
Oh, very nice, very nice.
Thank you.
All right, quick little story, we'll get back to it.
We're celebrating Martin tonight.
Martin and I, we probably arrived at CFNY around the same time,
early 80s, something like that.
He walked into the room, charismatic, everybody loved him.
I stood there like a fucking idiot, staring at everybody,
trying to find a place for me to work at the radio station.
But Martin was always unbelievably cool with everybody.
Now, Martin and I didn't spend a lot of time together.
He did the road show and all sorts of other events.
But I'll tell you a quick little story.
Early 80s, CFNY decides to make a commercial
where they're going to act like they play more music than any other radio station.
I don't know that that's true.
But they wanted to tell everybody
they play more music than anybody.
So they asked me and Martin and a guy named Nick Charles.
Does anybody remember Nick Charles?
He was on the air at CFNY for a very long time.
We passed away as well.
They asked us, will we load all these records
down to Yorkville to make this TV commercial?
So we do this. We load them downtown.
We end up, you know, there all day. I had been doing the overnight show, blah, blah, blah. Anyhow,
we end up deciding to go get some lunch. We get some lunch, and then we decide we need to get
some weed. We're going to get high. Why not, right? That's Martin and Nick. I'm like, all right, I don't
know. Sure, let's get high. So we got this van and we're driving back from Yorkville to Brampton
when the radio station was in Brampton on Kennedy Road.
And we're smoking this weed and getting very high.
And then Martin and Nick decide to tell me that there's cops behind us.
Now, Martin won't fucking stop.
He is on me.
And I am now in the back of the van freaking out
because I'm like 17 or 18 years old and a mess.
Martin's like, oh, we're going to get busted.
We're going to get fucked up.
Cops are going to take us to jail.
This was before weed was legal.
This would have been mid-'80s.
For I don't know how long on the 401, the 410, Martin couldn't stop.
Oh, the cops are behind us.
The cops are behind us.
The cops are behind us.
Finally, they pull the van over to the side of the road,
and I'm laying on my back in the back of the van,
completely freaking out and paranoid.
They whip open the doors and go,
fuck yeah, there's no cops.
That's Martin.
Laughing hysterically, maniacal.
I look at him, I go, fuck you, Martin.
And ever since then, I just tried to be cool
around Martin and never could. But that's a Martin story. He was a good
man, a great man. Everybody loved him. You never got enough of
him. Everybody heartfelt to Martin Streak.
Craig G, spinning right down until DJ Paul Dhingra.
Let's dance.
We got some more speakers coming up.
Let's fuck this shit up.
Let's go. God give me a card
See the light of the day has arrived for us
Genesis of our evolution
A linchpin holds within a means
To our name, can't you see that we are one?
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
No you can't We see the end to the dream
We will never be the end
All my life I felt this goddess
Now I'm feeling a part of it How about this goddess? Have a feeling in my oven
No, you can't!
Without me, you will fade
You will not remain
We are one and of the same
You dumb machine
A linchpin
Hooked within a beam
Cool our name
Can't you see that we are one
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
Can't take me apart
No you can't
We see the end
To the dream
We will never be the same
We will never be the same
All my life
I felt discarded
Now I'm feeling a part of it
No, you, no you can't take
No you can't take
No you can't take
No you can't take
No you can't take
No you can't die No you can't die Reappear
We will never be the end
We will never be the end
All my life I felt this darkness
Never feeling it part of me
You can't change me
You can't change me
You can't change me
You can't change me
You can't change me
You can't change me You can't change me Now
A lot of sharks out there
Trying to take a bite of something
What's hot?
A lot of chameleons out there
Trying to change up
Anytime something new comes along
Everybody wants a bite don't happen
overnight kid growing up, looking in the mirror dreaming about blowing up the rock crimes make money chill with the honeys sign autographs and whatever the people want from me
shit's funny how impossible dreams manifest in the games that be coming with it
nevertheless you got the gold for the gusto but you don't know about the blood sweat and tears
and losing some of your peers and losing some of yourself through the years past gone by
hopefully it don't manifest but the broad guy, egomaniac in the brainiac don't
know how to act 60 48 track studio gangsta max sign the deal nixie's gonna make a meal but never
will till he crosses over steel filling your head with fantasies companies drove the sacrifice it
takes to make the cheese you want to be a rock superstar in the biz it takes shit from people
who don't know what it is i wish it was all fun and games but the price of fame is high Outro Music Rock superstar, and live large, a big house, five cars, you're in charge, coming up in the world, don't trust nobody, gotta look over your shoulder constantly, you're being rock superstar, and live large, a big house, five cars, you're in charge, coming up in the world, don't trust nobody, gotta look over your shoulder constantly.
see rock star you know what I'm saying but you still trying to get out and work like like everybody else you know you know it's a fun job but it's still a job you know save your money man save
your money too it's single don't last very long you know what I'm saying I mean I've been lucky
in this game too there's gonna be another cat coming out looking like me sounding like me next
year I know this.
It'll be a flip side to what you did.
Somebody else trying to spin off like somebody serious. You wanna have big fame? Let me explain What happens to these stars and their big brains? First they get played like all damn day
Long as you sell, everything will be okay
Then you get dissed by the media and fans
Things never stay the same way they began
I heard that some never get fooled through the fullest
That's why fools end up dining on a bullet
Think everything's fine in the big time
See me in my legs with the chrome ray shine
So you wanna roll far and live large
It ain't all that goes with being a rock star
So you wanna be a rock superstar
And live large in a big house
And buy cars and pay charge
Coming up in the world, don't trust nobody
Gotta look over your shoulder
Constantly to be a rock superstar
And live large in a big house
And buy cars to pay charge.
Coming up in the world, don't trust nobody.
Got a number on your shoulder, come tell me.
My old son don't know me.
I'm chilling in the hotel room lonely.
But I think I got him with my homies.
But sometimes I wish I was back home.
But only no radio or videos gonna show me.
No love to pony.
Gotta hit the boat solely.
So the record gets pushed by Sony
I'm in the middle like Moni
And the press say that
My own people disown me
And the best way back
Is to keep your head straight
Never inflate the cranium
You're too worried about them honeys
At the palladium
Who just wanna cling on
Swing on
If so on
Go on
Roll off
The hoes roll on
To the next rock superstar
With no shame
Give him a gear
And I'll be right out the game
The same as the last one who came before him
Game fame started getting ignored
I warned him, assured him, this ain't easy
Take it from Weezy Sleazy
People wanna be so cheesy they're fucking evil
So they wanna be a rock superstar
And live large, a big house, five cars And break charge, coming up in the world What we're dealing with here is a total disrespect for the law. DJ Paul Dhingra.

I really couldn't be bothered with you
Get out of my face, I won't be kind
Burning inside
Burning inside I'm pollution and I'm floating rope
Of the dreams of men below
I'm trying to grab it but the touch is hard
My mirror collapses but the image does not
I'm scared of the darkness in the light
And scare myself because I know I'm right
I see the evil in your sanity
As it comes flying through the sky
Burning inside Thank you. Get away You told a man to the way that he played
Another slave and a victim of fate
Another lesson you hate
Burning inside Bye. We'll be right back. I can't forget this empty home
I cannot count the bloody cost
I can't believe this wretched soul
Come penetrate all this loss
Come only kill this sense of life
And be the one who is denied
Now show me the one who wakes tonight No, no one will erupt tonight
I feel the emptiness inside

Saying everything I've said before
All these words, they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Less I hear, the less you say
You'll find that out anyway
Just like before
Everything you say to me
Just one step closer to the end
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Just one step closer to the end I'm about to break I need a little room to break Cause I'm one step closer to the end
I'm about to break
I fight the answers I'm so clear
Wish I could find a way to disappear
All these thoughts they make no sense
I found bliss in ignorance
Nothing seems to go away
Over and over again
Just like before
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
I'm about to break
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe Cause I'm one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I need a little room to breathe
Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to

Because I'm one step closer to the edge.
I'm about to break everything you say to me.

Brother Bill,
who in my mind, it's just
I got to work with him for years.
He's so freaking hilarious. I just loved how he
would take closer by nine snails and say
fornicate over the air
on the radio edit.
Worked at CFY for so many years. Went to
CFOX in Vancouver. Is now working at
White Rock BC. And Captain
Phil Evans, our promotions director
at CFY for so many years.
And they have a message
for you. So everybody that's also in the outdoor
lobby there, come on in.
You all really want to see this video of Martin Streak memories from Brother Bill and Captain Phil Evans.
You can roll the tape.
And take the spots maybe off. Spotlight.
Technical difficulties? Kick it. If you hit the thing again, it might work.
And if you could lose a spot.
Thank you.
This better not be a porno. Thank you.
This better not be a porno.
You never know with Brother Bill's house. I just hope he has clothes on. Jesus.
And I've seen Brother Bill naked.
Right, right?

Hello. Is this thing on?
Hey, Billy.
Don't want to trip over my cat.
Hi there. I used to be a guy named Brother Bill.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Here I am on video this evening because unfortunately, I, well fortunately,
I live 5,000 kilometers away on the west coast of British Columbia.
This is my view from my living room.
As I showed you earlier.
Pardon the shakiness.
I'm a little nervous to tell you the truth.
This is my wall of fame, I call it.
My day and age, working at 102.1, the edge, CFNY, whatever you'd like to call it.
And there's a picture of our dear friend up there with me
Jane's addiction our friend Mike Rice in the picture as well as a man in the back
there who was one of our late security people his name is escaping me right now
but he also is no longer with us ah I just don't have a lot to say.
It's been 10 years.
It's hard to believe, as everybody feels that way, I'm sure.
I wish I could be there tonight.
I'm sure that Shwarma and DJ Dhingra and everyone who's involved with this evening,
Constable Feet Powder, are putting on a really good show tonight,
and you're all having a lot of fun in memory of our dear friend Marty. There are a lot of words I could use. There have been lots of words
and all of them are true when describing Marty. He was a wonderful human being. I had the pleasure
of meeting him the day I walked into CFNY in 1988 and I had a big hug from him the day I left in
2004. I remember him fondly. I go to see him at Shannon Falls occasionally,
which is about two hours north of White Rock, an hour north of Vancouver. I urge you if you're
ever out this way, then maybe you go and say hello to him as well. Just wanted to say hi,
I hope you're enjoying your evening and thank you so much for allowing me to be
on your video screen for a couple minutes. Now back to the 9 inch nails.
Very nice. And then we have some words from Captain Phil.
He definitely has clothes
on. Hi there. I'm Phil. I worked at
CFNY with Marty for 17 years. I hear the dialogue. I literally hear dialogue. I want to thank everyone from the Opera House for
having us, for hosting this. We have been wanting to do this for so long and Opera House is legendary
and we used to come here all the time for not only concerts, but also for club gigs.
You know, Don Burns used to do Purgatory Friday Nights here.
And wonderful staff and just wonderful people.
And there is Captain Phil.
Wow.
That's close.
Hi there.
I'm Phil.
I worked at CFNY with Marty for 16, 17 years, from 1986 to 2002.
You may know me by my radio name, which was Phil, Captain Phil, but it's not a thing, even I know that.
I wanted to share a couple of thoughts I had about Marty.
He was a very good friend to me, and I only have good remembrances of him. I remember when
he used to come into my office after the weekend covered in scabs because he
dropped his longboard or he'd fallen off his bike or someone had opened a door
into his path while he was biking. I remember that when he drove his cars he
drove them with the seats all the way back so it was like he was lying
down. I remember that when I first came to Toronto I lived out of my car because I was making $6.25
an hour at CFNY and Marty was the first guy to offer me a place to live on the weekends when I
wasn't living on a boat and he gave me the key to his and his mom's condo in Mississauga and so I
could come and go as I pleased but I'd only ever been there with Marty so when
I actually went there by myself I never remembered what floor he was living on
so I would knock on the doors and then run away and knock on more doors and run
away again and the night that I did, I actually didn't find his apartment.
So I ended up sleeping under my desk at 83 Kennedy Road South in Brampton.
And when I heard people coming in, I jumped up and opened the door
like I'd been working hard since 8 o'clock.
Marty was also the best man at my wedding.
And he actually said, Are you sure you want me to be your best man?
And the answer was, of course, because who wouldn't?
It was Marty.
And, you know, if you're looking for a guy with the wit and wherewithal to be a best man, it was Marty.
And also he organized a fantastic stag, absolutely stellar stag.
I'm sorry I can't be there at a party for Marty, but I did come to a place that hopefully will have some fond memories.
If you're ever in British Columbia, I'm going to show you where about 10 years ago,
Grace, Marty's mother, Brother Bill, Mike Rice, and about 20 others
came and scattered his ashes.
This is Shannon Falls.
Have a great night, everyone, and let's party for Marty.
Beautiful.
DJ Paul Dhingra. Let's celebrate.
Let's dance.
Thanks to Captain Phil and Brother Bill
all the way from D.C.
Party for Marty here tonight. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, Thank you. It seems that all that was good has died
And is decaying in me
Will you give it to me?
It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes
Living with these changes
Now the world is a scary place
Now that you've woken up the demon

This next song is for Graham
Woman, you want me, give me a sign
And can't stop breathing even closer behind in touch
with the
ground
I'm on
the hunt
I'm after
you
smell like
a sound
I'm lost
in a crowd
and I'm
hungry
like the
wolf straddle the line in discord and rhyme I'm lost in a crowd And I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line
In discord and rhyme
I'm on my hunt, I'm after you
Mouth is alive
Juice is like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Stalked through the, too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
I have blood drumming on your skin, it's so tight
You feel my heat, I'm just a moment behind
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Sent to the sound
I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf you And I'm hungry like the wolf Hungry like the wolf I'm burning the ground
I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
I smell like a sound
I'm lost and I'm bound
And I'm hungry like the wolf.
It's dead on the line, it's discordant rhyme, I'm on the hunt, I'm after you.
Mouth is alive, juice is like wine, and I'm hungry like the wolf.
But in the ground, I break from the crowd, I'm on the hunt, I'm after you. Listen up, Jesus Someone to hear your prayers
Someone to guess Here I am
A person of Jesus
Someone to heal your prayers

Reach out, reach out
Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith.
Reach out and touch faith. Thank you. guitar solo Every time I think of you I feel a shot right through
And a ball of food
It's no problem of mine
But it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
There's no sense in telling me
the wisdom of the blue won't set you free.
But that's the way that it goes
and it's what nobody knows.
Well, every day my confusion grows. Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment.
You say the words that I can't say.
I feel fine and I feel good I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way
I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves
Like we were yesterday
I'm not sure what this could mean Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday?
I'm not sure what this could mean I don't think you're what you seem
I do admit to myself that if I hurt someone else
Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment.
You see the words that I can't say. We'll be right back. Let's dance.
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.
Let's dance.
To the song they're playing on the radio
Let's sway
While color lights up your face
Let's sway
Sway through the crowd to an empty space
If you say run Sway through the crowd to an empty space.
If you say run, I'll run with you.
If you say hide, we'll hide.
Because my love for you would break my heart in two If you should fall into my arms
Tremble like a flower
Let's dance
Let's dance
For fear the grace should fall
Let's dance
For fear tonight is all
Let's dance For fear tonight is all
Let's wait
You could look into my eyes
Let's wait
Under the moonlight
There's serious moonlight
And if you say run, I'll run with you
And if you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall into my arms and crumble like a flower Let's dance
Put on your rickshaws and dance the blues
Let's swing
A love of life
A serious love life

Cause I'll be that house of a hog of a pie in the ground that be deep in the facade.
An adventure, if you're gonna test a freaking picture.
For the sickness, I'll be fighting with the quickness.
Remedies, cousin, I'll be doing all my enemies.
Penalties, then I'll drink for these good memories.
Emotions, crossing through your town's deep vicinity.
What's that rhythm?
What's that sound?
How do you keep it getting there?
When it hits the battlefield?
Yeah, baby, yeah, baby
Keep it moving, baby, keep it moving Keep it moving, baby, we be moving on
Keep it moving, you know we keep it moving on
Keep it moving, baby, we be moving on
Keep it moving, you know we keep it moving on

Don't you judge or question
You are broken Trust in me now, don't you judge or question.
You are broken, now the faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Damp and blind and dull and born to follow. What you need is someone strong to guide you
Damp and blinded
Don't aim for him to follow
Left hand laid my foot in
Hand up, hand up on you
My God's will Becomes me
When he speaks
He speaks to me
He has needs
Like I do
We both want
To rape you
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now
Open my eyes
Blind me with your light now
Jesus Christ
Why don't you come save my life now
Open my eyes
Blind me with your light now If you want to get your soul to heaven
Trust in me now
Don't you judge or question
You are broken now
But faith can heal you
Just do everything I tell you to do
Jesus Christ Why don't you come
Save my life now
Open my eyes
Blind me with your light now
Jesus Christ, why don't you come
Save my life now
Open my eyes
Blind me with your light now Open my eyes for I know it's you right now

Yo, where's the cess? I confess
I burned a hole in the mattress
Yes, yes, it was me
I plead guilty and at the count of three
I pull back the duvet, make my way to the refrigerator
One dry potato inside, no lie, not even bread
Jam, when the light above my head, yeah, bam
I can't see, something's all over me
Greasy insomnia, please release me
And let me dream about making mad love on the heat
Tearing off tights from my teeth
But there's no relief, I'm wide awake in my kitchen
It's black and I'm lonely

What song do you want by Nine Inch Nails?
What song?
You have like a whole bunch.
You need two seconds here.
Hang on.
You have like a whole bunch. Here we are.
Two. Light, hold. Here we are. Move. Got money, I'll do anything for you
Got money, just tell me what you want me to
Got money, nail me up against the wall
Got money, don't want everything he wants at all
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it

Head like a hole, black as your soul. I'd rather die than give you control.
Head like a hole, black as your soul. I'd rather die than give you control.
I'd rather die than give you control Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve God, money's not looking for the cure
God, money's not concerned about the sick among the pure
God money let's go
dancing on the

No you can't take it
No you can't take it No you can't take that away from me Outro Music Black out your soul I'd rather die To give you control
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve This bed is on fire with passion and love
The neighbors complain about the noises above
But she only comes when she's on top
My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you're like a disease without any cure.
She said, I'm so obsessed that I'm becoming a ball.
Oh, no.
Oh, you think you're so pretty. Caught your hand beside the till
Slammed your fingers in the door
Bought kitchen knives and skewers
Dressed me up in women's clothes
Messed around with gender roles
Dye my eyes and call me pretty
You pulled out of the house so you moved next door
I locked you out, you cut a hole in the wall
I find you sleeping next to me, I thought I was alone
You're driving me crazy when are you coming home
Hooray Hooray
Hooray Ladies and gentlemen, this is tonight's last song.

guitar solo Lend and balance, plain and confident Deeply in you, you will not want me any other way But not enough anymore
Nothing seems to satisfy
I can't, I don't want it
I just need to breathe
To feel, to know I'm alive
Knock on deep inside the cold line
This may hurt a little
But it's something you'll get used to
Relax and swim away guitar solo We'll be right back. guitar solo Yeah, I'm so scared to think about The way that things are supposed to be
The sense of time to everything
I'm getting so sick
How can this mean anything to me?
If I can't go, if I can't go on without a ticket home
Yeah
While I keep digging
I feel something
I feel from deep inside the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together Thank you again, everybody.
Good night. goodnight
