This song is called Blow Me.
They shot a movie once in my hometown.
Pinch me.
Did Paul Langlois of the Tragically Hip really visit my home studio last week for a 70-minute chat?
And did he bring his guitar and play live?
Did that actually happen?
Sometimes I look back at the past 11 years and almost 1,300 episodes and I think, how did I get here?
You don't just start an independent podcast as a nobody and get a member of the Tragically Hip to visit and play live on your show.
It doesn't work that way.
You have to put in thousands of hours of work, build an audience, build a reputation, build trust, then it happens. And when you listen
back to the unedited chat, you're filled with pride. If you're listening right now, you're a
subscriber, and I want you to know how much I appreciate that you're following along. I remember
the early days with Rosie Rosie. And then Elvis.
And the first episode.
To have more than 1,000 listeners.
That blew my mind.
1,000 people.
Choosing to hear.
Your audio creation.
That was several years ago.
Now Paul Langlois is dropping by.
Go ahead and pinch me again. Thank you.
Tomorrow, Fergie Oliver visits.
He hasn't made a public appearance in a very, very
long time. And yes, we'll talk about
everything. The good, the bad, and the
ugly. Later this week, the lead singer and guitarist
for the first rock band I ever saw live drops by. Then later this summer, visits from Bob Wiseman
and Neil Osborne and Harold Hossain and Michael Williams, not to mention the return of Stephanie Smythe
with her husband, Paul Cook, from 680.
Speaking of 680,
FOTM's Mike Epple, Richard Southern, and Scott Metcalf
are visiting together to talk about
30 years of all-news radio in this city,
not to mention regular episodes of Toast,
visits from Ed Keenan and Mark Weisblatt,
and who knows, a surprise visit from Cam and Stu?
Stranger things have happened.
So plenty happening, lots of surprises in store,
not to mention TMLX 13 is on August 31. You're all invited.
No charge. And Palma Pasta will feed us.
And Great Lakes Brewery is buying you your first beer.
They're hosting this event, and you just need to
make your way to GLB's Southern Etobicoke location
