Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, and welcome to another episode of WhereW Wolf Ambulance. Hi Katie. Hi, Alan, how are you? Good, we're not alone. We're not alone. We're here with our friend Rob. Hey, Rob. Hi, guys. How are you doing? Pretty well. How are you guys? Hi,. Good. How are you guys? We just answered that.
Starting point is 00:00:26 It was good. So we just watched the Blair Witch Project, 1999's the Blair Witch Project? As selected by Rob. Yes, this is a classic found footage film. Beloved by Rob. It's the found footage film. Yeah, spawner of a generation of found footage films. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. this. this is this is this is this is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thee. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the. the. the., spawner of a generation of found footage films.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm sorry. Yeah. Off parodied. This is a very parodied movie. That's true. I'm kind of a late comer to horror. I guess I kind of got into it. My dad got me to the X-Files when I was like 12 years.
Starting point is 00:00:57 And that was kind of I made it through exactly two episodes before I couldn't watch it anymore. I got to Zibo the Clown, and I had to stop watching it for about 20 years. It's a scary episode. Yeah. I am completely unfamiliar with that television show. Yeah. You were like out smoking cigarettes, no beers, then. There were no laws then. round it up pickup truck I'm sure. Definitely in the back with no seats no belts there was no laws then. The lawless 90s yeah I love the 90s which is another
Starting point is 00:01:30 reason why I love the Blair Witch project. Yeah this is a quintessentially 90s movie. This is the most 90s thing it gets it's October 1994 a person wears flannel on flannel on this movie on flannel and it takes place almost entirely in the woods and like fields and it's the fall and... Is that the the 90th season? Yes and 94 is the 90s of years. Okay. So why this movie? Why did you want to bring us this movie to make your movie? Because this was the very first movie that terrified me when I saw it in the movie theater? Oh yeah, yeah, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thr. thrown, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the in the movie theater. Oh yeah. I went into it. I remember my dad took me to see it on summer whenever it came out. And it was like this bright, hot July day. And not a day you normally associate with terror, at least for me. And I came out of it.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Literally, it scared me. And I kind of bought into it. I went out thinnigh. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. th. I. I. th. th. th. th. th. I was like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thed. th. It was like, th. thed. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It was like, th. It was like, th. It was like, th. It was like, it was like, it was like went on the internet at the time, and the internet, they had like a website that you would go to and, you know, they made it look very real. It had a lot of like meta media around it, I guess. Yeah, and they had the television special on like sci-fi channel, I think. Or maybe it was a history of Rustin todthere was like grainy black and white prison footage as he's being you know led down this hallway and I totally rented this from Igle video with my cousin Celeste and I don't remember that at all I don't I guess they must not have the companion tape but Iggle it was the pre-order special it came with a poster too. Oh, you bought it, you purchased it. Oh, I see. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Yeah. We will be doing spoilers if this is your first episode. I figure most everyone's seen it since it's the highest grossing independent film of all time. Is it? Yeah. Okay, so it's found footage of a documentary made by three people in their, I guess probably like the early, late teens, early 20s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they're they're th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. We'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, th. We'll, th. We'll, th. We'll, th. We'll, th. We'll, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, the. th. th. th. the. And, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll probably like their early, late teens, early 20s. It's hard to tell everyone's ageless in the 90s. They're supposed to be college kids.
Starting point is 00:03:29 College kids? Okay, yeah. And they are out in the woods in Burkettsville, Maryland trying to get information about a local legend known as the Blair Witch. Which I'm actually so confused as to what the Blair Witch is. Is it the guy, is it the woman covered in hair? What is Blair Witch? I think it's supposed to be the woman covered in hair. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Yeah, I think the woman that Mary Brown describes. I really like this aspect of the film where they're going and they're talking to different locals to get the exposition of the she used. I thought the, I assume those people are not actors, but we did a really good job of like acting. The best actor in this movie is the small child putting her hand over her mother's mouth. She's trying to tell the story. I was going to say a close second Mary Brown, creepy lady. Yeah. She could be the Blair Witch as far as I'm concerned. Maybe she is the Blair Witch. Well I think there's a little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little the the the the the the the the the the the th. I the th. I thi. I theiler is made of sticks and twine. Oh, yeah. Maybe those guys who are fishing are the Blair Witch. I wish I could have spent the rest of the movie with those two.
Starting point is 00:04:33 I like them. They were good. I want to call them Bird and Ernie. Sure, you can do that. So the three kids go to the town and then they interview a few people about the b b about There's two stories. There's the story of the Blair Witch, who is like sort of the goaty woman of the woods. Covered in hair. Yeah. And apparently does her feet don't touch the ground or something? So she's very... Usually a mist, possibly associated with it as well.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And then there's the story of, well you just said the tho. Burton Ernie. No. Oh, Rustin Par. Right, that's the guy who... Do they say that in the movie? Yeah, I used that entirely. I think the old guy with the glasses interviews, I think he named drops Rustin Par. Yeah, yeah, they're talking about how he's the one who had the kids stand in the corner because he couldn't stand a look. I their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the. I'm the. I'm their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their I their their their their their their. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I their. I I. I their. I their. I. I their. I. I used their the story of like sort of a serial killer of children and then this supernatural witch woman and maybe some Allusion to those two overlapping on some level So then the kids go off into the woods and it doesn't seem like any of them are experienced When being in the woods, no, she has the book though how to survive in the woods, right? Right. Oh, you think she would look into the like the indexer. Yeah, we skipped the the the the the book. the book. the book. the book. the the the book. the the their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. they. thi. their. the the tho. the the the to too. they. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too. tooom. tooom. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. to. to. to. to. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. te. te. te. the te. te. te. the too. the too. tooooooooooooooooooo. the index there. Yeah. We skipped the part where they're, before they get to the town, they're smoking weed
Starting point is 00:05:47 and drinking scotch and hanging out in this hotel room and being very 90s. Nice wood paneled hotel room. Yeah, where else would you stay? No, of course. I do have a note that Josh is very hunky and looks like he could have been in candle locks. You like Josh? You more of a Mike man? Yeah, I'm more of a Mike guy. I like he's kind of like a loose cannon. He's got a short fuse. He's the first guy to just walk off into the woods screaming.
Starting point is 00:06:13 And Josh talks like every dude I worked with at the pizza shop in high school. Yeah, he's of a indeterminate origin. Yeah, he's of a indetermined indetermined indetermined indetermined indi. A the th. A th. A th. A th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. thi. th. he's he's he's he's he's hea. hea. He's hea. He's hea. He's hea. He's hea. He's hea. He's he. He's he. He's he. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's like. He's like, he's th. He's th. He's like, he's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's really is. He gets all of these Canadians. Yeah, at some point he's got the weird southern twang in there too. He's very Appalachian I feel. Well I looked up the actor and he's from Texas. Oh wow that is not Appalachia. These actors done anything else because I noticed that they play themselves. They have. They've done yeah. I've never seen them in anything. Josh actually has He's still making movies now. Part of a tangent, I think that kind of plays into the terror effect of this movie. There's, you know, when this movie came out at least, I think all of these people were relative no names. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. It wasn't like Freddy Prince Jr. out there.
Starting point is 00:06:53 It was a $22,000 budget. Right. Well, that's actually, the one of the producers claims that's how much it was and then Apparently other people are saying that was as much as 200,000 So there seems like there's 20 grand on the screen rather than yeah, but yeah, but yeah I think I think the fact that it's no names anybody's This happening to and I think they had to sign non-disclosure acts like they couldn't tell the the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they to to to to to to to to to tell to tell to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to they're to they're they're their tell people what they were doing, they couldn't do any interviews, they didn't do any press leading up to it. Because they were dead. Right. Yeah, it just happened.
Starting point is 00:07:27 So all the press was after. And they were like the, the Have You Seen't the Internet at the time? And they were like the, have or if I was too busy hanging out. But I remember there were multiple internet websites. God, don't I sound 90? Multiple internet websites. I'm sure there was an AOL keyword. So there was a special that was on, I think the sci-fi channel. I can't actually find anything about that.
Starting point is 00:07:57 It might have been the history channel. One of them that was about the murder cases. And it was about the the the the the, I I I I was about the, I was about, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I'm, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, themed, themed, themed, themed, themed, themed, I was, I was, I was, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th.. And, I, th. And, th. And, th. And, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, tho.e. We were, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the murder cases. And it was all about the sort of trial of that guy. So there's footage of him being taken in and out of the courtroom. And it talks more about coffin rock and that stuff. But I remember there were websites that were all about the history of it. And they would go into what happened in the 1800s. And you could read pages and pages of stuff. They spent a lot of time backing the stuff up and and I think that's sort become a trope
Starting point is 00:08:26 of the found footage like Mocumentary thing like I remember when Cloverfield was coming out There were Facebook profiles for all of the characters in it and there were and there's like a corporation that's mentioned and they had a full website the toub? Oh, theyre. There's like? There's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like a there's like a there's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a corporation's like a their's like a their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. their. their. their. their's like. their's like. their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a their's like a trope. tropecoea. tropea. tropea. their tropea. their their their their their their their their their their their this intense stuff and I think Blair Witch was sort of the beginning of that as well. Pretty ahead of its time. Well yeah just sort of I mean it just invented it like you know there was there was obviously the faux documentaries and stuff before this. Spinal Tab. Spinal Tap. Yeah all the Christopher Guest movies and stuff and stuff but this like, you know this reshaped how horror movies were made on some level like the shaky th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah................ It. It. It..... It. It's.. It's.. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's just just just just just. It's. It's. It's. It's just just just just just. It's just just just just. It's like, the the the the the the level. Like, the shaky camp thing became just fucking ad nauseum after this. There wasn't entirely a lot of shaky cam in this movie.
Starting point is 00:09:11 No. It's unbearable now. Like I have a hard time watching fountain footage movies because I guess maybe I'm older and also it's just so much worse. Right. I like get legit seasick watching some of them. Well who are they for then if not me? The younger generation yeah teens can handle this kind. Teens have better stomachs than me. Well people that have been playing like all the new like first person shooters that are always shaky cam they're always like I can't start. When I bought Doom 3 it gave me emotion sickness really for all of the first couple times I played it I had to like fight through well it well it's for the the the the the the the first the first the first the first the first the first the first for the first for the first for the first for the first for the first for the first for the first. the first. the first. the first. I. I the first. I the first the first the first the first the first the first first first first the first couple. I. I the first the first couple. I. I the first couple. I the first first first the first first first first. I play. I play. I play. I play. the first first first first first first first first first first. I. the first first. the first. the first. the first. the first. the first. the first. I. I. the first. I. I. the first. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the the first. the the the the the the the the th. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. th. the. the. the. the. to like fight through. Well, it's for teens then. It's for teens and tweens. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:45 All right, so let's get back to wrapping them up. That's pretty much the story. That's pretty much the movie. So they go off into the woods and they, right off the bat, they're lost. Yeah. And they turn on my friend so quickly and then I remember being like 21 yeah fuck yeah I would have torn everyone apart like a monster back then. I didn't remember them getting lost so quickly like I thought there was more time of them actually doing you know the first day they're
Starting point is 00:10:18 out there they film the thing at Coffin Rock where she reads from a book that she has about what happened toffin Rock, which I think is legit creepy. Oh yeah. You know the idea of people like being tied together and eviscerated while they're still alive, like that's... And then their bodies disappearing when they go to get help? Yeah. It's pretty fucked up. Totally creepy. So then they're the stuff in the woods, the like... No, I don't know. Actually, I have noted the time scale of the increasing horror.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Yeah, so they hear the sounds first, the one night, just kind of those little stick-breaking sounds, sounds like maybe somebody's walking around. And then the second night, they find the piles of the rocks outside of their tent. Yeah, it sounds like like like their their their their their. Yeah, it sounds like the people are banging stuff out in the woods like far enough away from them that it's echoing around. Which I really like. I thought it was a very cool atmosphere.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah, I mean I love going camping and I'm fucking terrified every time I do it. Like just laying the tent. I remember camping once in a bear or possibly a squirrel rubbed it was the most fucking terrifying thing. This is like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like a the movie movie movie movie the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most the most th. I is like th. I is like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I'm th. I'm just, I was thi, I'm just, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I was, I was, I was, I was, I. I. I. I. I. I was, I. I. I. I. I, I, I. I, I, I I, I is, I is, I I was a th. I was a th. I was a thi. I was a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm just just just, I thi. Yeah, I tote. Yeah, I totally, I totally, I totally, I totally, I ttotally, I te. Yeah, it's their house. This is like a good, this movie is like a good reminder for me of why I don't like outside. You know what I mean? It's like, you know, you've, you're watched the descent and been like, I'm so glad I don't give shit about adventure, you know? Like this will never happen to me. That was your take away from the dake. That was your ta. That was their that was your their th. That was your th. That was your their th. That was your th. That was your th. That was your their th. That was your th. That was your th. That was your th. That was your their thi. That was your thi. That was your their th th thi, thi, thi. That was your thi. That was your th thi. That was your th thi. That was your thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thi. thi. the. cave diving. I'm never going to die in a cave diving accident. It's true. As far as I know. I think it's called Spalunking. You'll have a spolunkless death.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Yeah. So like, this is just a good reminder to me of like, this is why you stay inside. Okay. So Jaws is keeping you out of the ocean. Yeah. the descent is keeping you out of the woods. That seems legit. Well, we need to find a nice home invasion movie. And then what are you going to do? Yeah, I'll watch a unit here next. And you can't be homeless because I'll show you a chud and that'll show you what's wrong. So basically you guys are trying to push me to suicide, which I don't think is very funny.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I feel like th like Rob is th like Rob is th th th th th th th're kind of just wandering lost through the woods and Each night gets a little bit more intense Yeah, steps it up. So it was the next day that they go out and they find the sticks in the woods, right? The Blah Witch Men, which, how many people do you think have that tattoo on their body? Ooh, I'm going to Google image search that at some point. Yeah. A lot. Given the number of people who have a big old back piece or something. Yeah, supernatural tattoos. But how many rad kids are just going out in the woods and making stick figures and leaving them in trees for people? Not
Starting point is 00:12:52 enough probably. Yeah they have to do it in a 90s thing too. Went along with they were probably huffed and then they made those. Okay. Official drug of the 90s. Oh, it's so true. So they're turning on each other each day gets worse and worse. Like, they're becoming psychotic. Yeah, just out of control. Which is kind of hard to watch. It's just so anxiety-inducing. It's very stressful.
Starting point is 00:13:21 It's like real-world Birketsville for a little bit. Just people shouting and like, it makes me very stressful. It's like real-world Birketsville for a little bit. Just people shouting. It makes me very stressful. Yeah, I was very, I actually wrote a note, stressful with an exclamation point. It wasn't a mild stressful. This is full blown. No, this is exclamation stressful. It's really well done. I mean like that aspect of it, like they keep the tension up. It's kind of like a slow descent into madness almost, you know. Every day it gets a little bit worse. I think so, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:50 And nothing ever comes like charging out of the woods at them. It's always like a more subtle. Well, there is the one night that they're laying in the tent and the kids come out of a little kids. It's talking and then like an old man's voice that sounded like for a second too. I heard an old man's voice there. Even before that, like every night when they hear the banging and the clacking in the woods, going out of the tent and yelling hello, the fuck you're gonna do when somebody walks out of the dark? They're sitting in your tent with the light on? Come on, what you do? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They. They, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they're they. They're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they're they're their, like, like, like, like, like, their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They their. They their. They're their. They're their. They're their. They're their. They're their. They're their, their, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the one night where they're in the tent and they hear children's voices and they're woken up by that and then all of a sudden there's banging on the
Starting point is 00:14:29 sides of the tent and like, oh, funk that. Like, yeah, I remember that got me, that give me goosebumps. And then they're running away and Heather starts screaming like, what's, like, the f-like. thi. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, and their, and their, and then, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, their, their, their, their, their, their, their,? Yeah, they don't. It's one time she's not pointing the camera in that direction. Exactly, right? There does seem to be some sort of light off in the distance, but... I thought that that was maybe Mike with his camera, because it seemed like they had like a video camera and then... A 16 millimeter. The 60 millimeter. And at the end to... Right, where they're, who's
Starting point is 00:15:06 filming, their voice, one might be at a distance, because it's not connected directly to the bat. So after the night where their, the kids come and bang on the tent, the next morning they go back to the tent and find that Josh's stuff has all thuuu-all, th th th th that th th that th th th th thus that thus that thus thus that thus stuff that thus that that thus thus that that that that that that that that that that that that that thus that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th, th, th is th is th is th is th is th is all th is all th is all th is all th is all thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus, the thoo's all tho's the the is all thoooo's the the the thus, the th Yeah the slime is never explained. Yeah. Oh that is slime man. I guess it's supposed to be ectoplasm or something. Oh I was I guess. I see yeah. Go slime. Go slime. But neither Heather nor Mike's gear has been toucest. Just Josh's stuff sort of implying that he's marked and then they go through another day of walking and yelling patronizing each other and walk. And this is the day that that that that that that that that that that that that that th th th th th th th th th th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi th is th is thus thus th is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is they is they is they is they they they th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi marked and then they go through another day of... Walking and yelling. Patronizing each other and walked. And this is the day that they keep walking south. Yes. And then they come back, they've made a full circle to where they started from cross.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Yes. Which is fucking upsetting. Like, that kind of stuff like it's just really disorienting. Is this where he admits that he admits taken the map and kicked it into the... Well that was like the day before... That was the day before when they started at that log. And then they came back to that log. And then poor Josh's last words are my mom's mashed potatoes and a piece of ass. Those are his last words in this movie. Just the piece. Yeah, so... Yeah, so, there's, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the. the. the. the. the, the, the, the, the, the. the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th't find him and they're running around the woods, looking for him.
Starting point is 00:16:27 And that night, they hear him screaming off in the woods. Yes. And they're outside yelling for him and trying to find him and can't locate him. Heather's breaking down and crying. And then the next morning is when they find the bundle of sticks, right? Yes. Yes, with flannel, tied in flannel. Tied in Josh's flannel. Extremely nice. Even more poignantly. And then later, Heather opens the bundle sticks and finds like a little handmade bag of bloody teeth. Yeah. And hair. Oh and hair. I missed the hair. It's blood in the hair. It's like Josh's hairs in there too. But she doesn't show it to the other guy, right? To Mike, which is strange.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Yeah. No, not. Actually, the internet had something to say about this too. I did a little bit of Googling. Some people were thinking that there's, and I should know this, but I don't. But apparently there's a material spell component for a, I think an early edition, to spell, where you can speak in somebody's voice, but you need one of their teeth in order to do that. So, the internet would tell you that. So perhaps, you know, the blur which is playing first edition. I haven't looked at or confirmed it. This is just what somebody on the internet says.
Starting point is 00:17:36 The clacking sounds in the woods were all the dice rolls. of checks. They failed they're going to get touched by children. So they spend the next day wandering and well they spend the next day sitting both yeah. There's a lot of rocking and sitting and holding each other. Yeah. People are at their wits end I think. Heather gives the much much much parodied directly down the barrel of her nostrils and crying to mom. Speech shirt she's sorry to everybody. And this scene made me realize something something the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th the th th th the th th th th thing the the th. the the thing the the the thing thing thing the thing the the thing the next the barrel of her nostrils. I'm crying to mom. Spie sure she's sorry to everybody. This scene made me realize something about Heather. I had seen this movie in high school or whenever I came out.
Starting point is 00:18:13 I guess I was in high school at the time. And then I hadn't seen it again until a couple months ago. My ladies' horror group watched it, but we were like cracking wise like crack and wise through the whole thing so I didn't really think about it. But tonight I started the movie thinking like Heather is the most annoying person on the planet. Yeah. And then by the end I realize that Heather is just kind of like the embodiment of what every ambitious woman fears she could be. Which is like the bossy but also cold and like unreasonable thing. Though how it ends up is that you are like, you know, it's not coming out of your face. That's how you, that's how you lose, you know? Even to the point of where she's immediately disrespected by them, like the guys just aren't paying attention to her, like they're showing up late.
Starting point is 00:18:53 She is obviously not actually in charge. No. They never at any point trust her. either so I mean she clearly didn't know how to read the map. I mean she had a book that said how to survive in the woods. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence in your leader. Especially when they don't read it. Well it looked well thumbed but it could have been used. She had in her bathroom jeans. Or in a closet with her mom jeans. Sorry other. Oh man took it out her mom jeans. They wear mom jeans. She wears them for like eight days straight. Although her hair never gets greasy.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Heather's hair stays like luxurious throughout the film. Which is weird because they were actually in the woods the entire time. Oh really? Yeah, yeah. They made them stay in the woods. If I was in the woods for seven nights straight, I would look like a bottle of olive oil. So after she gives the snot-filled, I'm sorry, speech. Which is actually pretty good watching it as an adult. Yeah, I remember being way more annoying, but I think that's the parodying that's
Starting point is 00:19:56 I did notice that at one point you can literally see like the blood vessels in her eyes go red when she likes she's like doing the quiet sob and it's like comes right across. Oh really? Yeah, yeah. They then hear Josh again scream. Or no though, they go out, why are they walking in the night? Do they hear Josh and they're walking and they find the house? Yeah, I think his calls draw them to the house.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Okay. Because the house seemed like it was not far from where they were camped. So if it had been, yeah, if it had been a real place, I feel like they would have seen it before. Right, you know what I mean? Yeah, so it draws them to this house. Which like is, you should totally go inside that. It house like that and there was just one chair in the upstairs of the house that was surrounded by racing papers. Nice. Been up there, like, bent on the ponies. Just sitting there with his transistor radio. I knew Woods porn wasn't a real thing.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Oh no, Woodsport, I found a tonne of. That is not a real thing. There was a hob there was was a hob the the the th was a hob th. A woob was a hob th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. th. th. th. th. th. A. A th. th. tooom. toa, tooom. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A is not a real thing. There was a hobo mattress by the train tracks that had woods poured underneath it all the time. I mean it probably doesn't exist anymore. You're just going to find like an old cell phone in the woods or something. They're just a URL playing the lips. So they go into this house. So they go into this house. Mike is immediately on the rampage, starts tearing around this is where it all comes undone. See if she had told him about the teeth maybe
Starting point is 00:21:27 he would have been more cautious and that makes me mad. Yeah yeah yeah yeah she left the whole team down on every possible. She really did every single leadership choice she made was pretty much wrong. See that's what this is the fear you be you become a heather. And then Christian Slater kills you? I love Christianslater. They go running up the steps and this is something that really creeped me out the first time I saw up when they're running up the stairs and there's the little kid. A handprints all over like. Yeah, it's unnerving.
Starting point is 00:21:59 It looks like there was some dwarvish written on the walls too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe that's part of the spell component. That's maybe what I was thinking. Yeah. Rob is the DM for our DM. You can't hear this, but I'm pushing out my glasses right now. Yeah, so they go running upstairs.
Starting point is 00:22:15 You still heard the basement. So Mike goes tear ass down the basement. Never go in the basement. Never go in the basement. Why would you go in the basement? It's a rule. It's a legit rule. And the camera just gets knocked to the ground. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:34 As soon as he runs down there. And then Heather is fucking screaming, and this is what Rob-in, Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, so Mike had the sound equipment on him in the basements or her screams are disembodied from her on the running. So it was like sort of disorienting and like, is that Heather running? Like, what's going on now? And she runs into the basement, comes around a corner and Mike is standing in the corner, facing the corner. Which was one of the first time I saw the movie was like the scariest thing I could have imagined. Yeah, it's the payoff. And then her camera gets knocked to the ground,
Starting point is 00:23:10 click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, credit. And that's, I mean, I enjoyed this movie. I today, I seen it originally in the movie theater. I wish I had. It seems like it would have been a great way to see this movie the first time. For sure, because the sound designed really good in the movie theater. They kind of, the, the, the, the clacking coming from different directions. Yeah. And the screams it in the family room at Salis House. And I remember, I remember white knuckling this movie, just like, you know.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I just watched this in the family room at Celeste's house and then made her go with me to the bathroom. I think this is a very good movie if you literally want to turn off all the lights and sit on the couch and watch it. We totally did. I remember like, there's a couple scenes of the night scenes, or when they're the tent that are just completely black. Like the screen is just black for extended periods of time. And you can just hear them talking, which I think is pretty cool too. Yeah. And then I watched this movie again, probably five years later,
Starting point is 00:24:12 after seeing it initially. And I hated it. Because it was like the trick was out of the bag. I knew what was movie that benefits from not having any idea what's going on. Right. They were very good, despite the media kind of onslaught that they had of having the special and having all the websites and all that stuff. They kept what was in the movie pretty secret. Yeah, the trailer is almost nothing.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Right. Which is nothing. But yeah, the repeated view, it doesn't really hold up to repeated viewings it's still a good movie but the fright is definitely gone I can still watch like Friday the 13th and be scared like I've seen it 400 times I'm still gonna be scared scaredish but this is just it's gone the luster's off the this is one of those movies that I really enjoy where you never actually the bad person oh yeah there's no it's all just hinted at you know thin th I th I th I the th I th I the the th I th I th the th th the the th the the th th the th th the th the thi the the the th the thi th thi thi thi thi th thi the the the thi th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi things just off camera and that freaks me out more than actually Seeing monsters most of the time It's not the happening now, you're right
Starting point is 00:25:11 You never see a bad guy in that either You do you see the tre be me watching it again and just going no I don't get it but like I had the even the stuff that I knew was coming like the little kids banging on the ten I was like oh this is all great so it was so good I think given enough time between multiple viewings it sort of benefits from old men forgetting what they saw before you can you can view it from a more scholarly perspective yeah student of the genre. It's true. So this movie sort of, as we said earlier, it spawned the found footage genre.
Starting point is 00:25:52 You know, I don't know if it was actually the first found footage movie, but it was definitely the one that kicked it into high gear. Yeah, brought it into public consciousness. There was like an earlier movie from the 70s or 80s, but apparently this one was like you said is the one the one the one the one the one the one the one th, like kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked kicked, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the. their, like, like, like one was, like you said, is the one that kicked it into gear. Yeah. I don't really like found footage movies as a general rule. No? I have not really seen, I mean, I guess I like the first VHS okay. What about? What about paranormal activity? The first one? You know, it's pretty okay. Yeah, but there's like not much to say about them, you know what I mean? It's just... Yeah, I like I like Cloverfield. I didn't see Cloverfield. I just know that the monster was disappointing to people. That's my touch point in that. Yeah, I liked the monster, but I think the people are disappointing. The monster ripping apart in New York is pretty fun. And I like there's a Spanish movie movie called Recording. There's a Spanish the the the the the the the the the Spanish movie. There's. There's th. There's th. There's th. There's th. There's a Spanish movie. There's a Spanish movie. There's a Spanish movie. There's a Spanish movie. There's a Spanish movie. I was th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a monster. I that's a monster. I was a monster. I was a monster. I'm just a monster. I'm just a monster. I'm just a monster. I'm just a monster. I'm just a monster the monster. I'm just a monster the monster. I'm the monster. I'm just the monster. I'm the monster. I'm the monster. I'm the monster. I'm like. Oh. Spanish zombie movie that all takes place in one apartment building. America did that too. To quarantine.
Starting point is 00:26:49 I did not like quarantine. I enjoyed it. Yeah, it's not good. It doesn't make much to impress me, though. And rec two, thrown. And rec two is pretty good. Oh, it's a little bit more ridiculous. unwatchable. That's the pattern isn't it? I very much enjoy the trope and I guess maybe this could apply to the Blurwich too of like confinement. You know you're set away somewhere that nobody can come and help you whether you're
Starting point is 00:27:12 stuck inside of a building or on a boat or in the middle of the woods, you know. I'm looking at a list of found footage films now and I'm kicking myself for not mentioning cannibal hollicast dating this movie the movie the movie the movie the movie th. the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie mentioning cannibal Holocaust predating this movie by 19 years so like you know it's it's the same premise of a found you know they found this footage in the jungle of people who had been killed by cannibals but for me Blair Witch is like when you say found footage like this is that's one that everybody goes back yeah yeah but I guess they were they were actually a bunch before it was a the public you know what I mean it the people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're like like like like like like like like. they're like. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. I they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're they're. they're. I I they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're. they're they're. they're like. they're. they're. they're. they're like. they're. they're like. they're. they're like. they're like. they're like. they're. they're. they're's really the one that fooled the public, you know what I mean? People flocked to Birketsville, right? Right. It was great for Birketsville's tourism or whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Do you think that's because it was the one that happened like post the internet becoming a real big thing? I mean, but people believed it. Kind of like the War of the Worlds, of our generation, as it were, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It, like, like, like, World World's was on the radio initially, my great-grandmother lived in New Jersey, and she thought it was real, and she ran out and bought a whole bunch of toilet paper. Mention, me, to rest in peace. But yeah, she ran out and she was completely convinced. Yeah. Well, I think on charges because they thought they actually murdered people. Like there was a snuff film.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Oh wow. There's one scene where someone's got a pole going completely through them that they did with a bicycle seat. Like the person sitting on a bicycle seat. It's like you can't see that it just looks like they have a pole going through the body. And people did not like that. I don't like that at all. There's Lake Mungo, which is an Australian found footage film that I really liked. And the Last Exorcism has a total like M. Knight's Shambalon twist ending.
Starting point is 00:28:55 And it was ridiculous enough that I really enjoyed it. So yeah, I'm going to give the found footage. I'll still give them a chance. I watch them, but I don't know why. You hate watching them. Yeah, like that movie, recently that movie came out about the catacombs below Paris. And I saw the preview and I was like, uh-uh. Right, yeah. But that looked asinine, though.
Starting point is 00:29:19 That's kind of my point. So I don't know whether to thank it or piss on it, you know? Which are my two options for anything is either I express gratitude or, you know, expel waste onto it. Thank you or piss. Those are my new knuckle tattoos. I'm a big fan of the ghost hunting genre of found footage films that are now, I mean, turn on Netflix and there's like six of them just waiting for you to be streaming. Do you think you would have had things like the ghost hunters television show if Bill I
Starting point is 00:29:52 Which hadn't been such a big deal like you know it's got the night cam and all that stuff like that's like blaming Elvis for Lincoln Park you know that's like blaming Elvis for Lincoln Park yeah that's like that's like they the the the the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they's like they's like they's like they's like they's like they're they're they're they're the th th I th I th I th I th I th I'm like th I'm thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, I think that's a better analogy. They're pretty adjacent. I used to watch those Ghost Hunter TV shows. Yeah, and there's always somebody screaming and running out of a room and like it's kind of blare witchiness to it. Yeah. Because you don't see it. They're like oh it's over there just just off camera! Of course you don't get that? Because because. You can't see a things not real You are in the presence of a true believer in ghosts here. Oh, am I do I have to go on the record as saying Okay, it's not live. Just give me the sting guy. That's fine. I believe in ghosts. I'm not afraid I saw I saw I saw something happen. I'm convinced. All right, I saw I saw something. I saw something. I thrown. that's th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the th. the th. I th. I the th. S. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. th. th. convinced. All right. You got to own that shit, dog. I'm not running for mayor anytime soon. All right, so let's move on to the aftermath of this film. Not just how it affected the horror genre, but how it affected the people involved in it. How did it?
Starting point is 00:30:56 I don't know anything about the longs. I think that, I mean, they did Blair Witch too. Book of Shadows. Yeah, it came in a two-A. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. I. th. th. th. th. th. I. th. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All th. All. All. All. All. All. All. All. It th. It th. It th. th. It th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to the. to to to to to to to the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th Which we also have. You own that? Yeah, it came in a two-packed DVD. I've never seen it. It's tann... Yeah, it's pretty bad. It's very, it's very meta. What is it? They like take Blair Witch and then like move it out another step and I believe... If I recall I saw it once in the movie theater and if I recall correctly it's like... the DVDBB apparently these people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people are running like a tour agency where people who have seen the Blair Witch project want to go and try to find the Blair Witch. Oh, that's really dumb. Yeah, kind of like almost like a ghost tour of Burketsville as it was.
Starting point is 00:31:33 I didn't really, it did, uh, Blair Witch too came out the next year. Yeah, they fired it up. So they didn't even even even even even even even even even even even have the happen but apparently the people didn't really know the three actors Heather Mike and Josh didn't know and then all the dialogues improvised so they were given like GPS like coordinate you've got to be here and then something's gonna happen oh that's fucked up yeah yeah it's like it's like a haunted house almost yeah yeah but for people who are being filmed as they're to the? because their like sleeping because these guys won't let them sleep and they're not really eating that much either.
Starting point is 00:32:07 But Heather's hair looks so good. So the fact that they like torque to help Blair Witch too, it's so quick I think that might be why I mean but I'm sure they were just like we have to capitalize Yeah it was very much a studio production. Yeah. Now I kind of want to watch it. I said I haven't seen it since it was out originally. You guys should definitely do that. You want to watch it? Nope, nope. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:31 So it looks like the one producer of this movie, Daniel Meirich, has only done six other movies besides this. Anything of note? Nope. Okay. And Eduardo Sanchez has done a lot more. He's been much more. I feel like I've seen his name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:48 I know he's got a new Bigfoot movie that's got his name attached. Oh, I'll see that. Fuck. Bigfoot. Now, I believe in everything. I think that one's called, uh, Exists. And he did lovely Molly, which had some hype around it as well. And I guess he did one of the segments in VHS 2 and... I didn't see that either.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Yeah, so he... No. No. Of course not. VHS 1 was enough to make me not see. Yeah. I liked like a couple of the segments. Yeah, I liked the haunted house segment a lot. There was that one of the teens at teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, teens, tine, tine, tine, thea, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, the, the, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. Yeah, thi. I thi. Yeah, I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. Yeah, thi, the water that made no sense to you know that was terrible. Eight bit ghost coming. Yeah yeah oh no here
Starting point is 00:33:27 comes digital. I just thought of a found footage movie that I liked go which was troll hunter. I really liked troll hunter. That was more of a documentary though I don't think it was found footage I think that was more put to you was a yeah was a fl yeah yeah was a yeah was a yeah was a yeah was a the yeah was a the yeah was a the yeah was a the yeah was a the yeah was a f. was a f. was a f. was a f. was a f. was a f. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. the. I. I. I. I. I. the. I. I. I. I. the. I. I. the. the. I. the. I. the. I. I. the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. the. I the. the. the. the. the. I was. the. the. I was. Yeah. Sure. So see, I think there are like... I thought of one. Yeah, but I listed like six. Okay, that's right. There are good examples of how this can be done well and still can be done well. Like, Crawlhunter's only like three years, four years old, right? That's true, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:58 You know, and there's there's ways to work in this that are still, it just got overwrought like there was just so much of it like you know which is what we kind of alluded to in the last episode of like we're gonna keep watching shitty horror movies because they're gonna keep making shitty horror movies like. For every good horror movie there's gonna be 20 crap clones that I'm gonna see 10 of. You know what? And then we're gonna cover the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. wee is is is th. wee. wee. It's is is is th. It's is is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. we's is kind we's is kind th. we's is kind we's we's we's we's kind th. we's we's the. we's the. we's we's we're we're we're we're we' is kind th. And then we're going to cover them on this podcast. We'll start doing good movies again soon. Well, actually, this was a good movie. This is a good movie. Which leads me into the ratings portion.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Ratings. Rob, do you want to go first? This is your time to shine, buddy. OK. I wasn't prepared for this. to be. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. th. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to be. to be. th. th. th. thi. this. thi. this. this. this. this is. this is. this is. this is. this is. this is. this is. this is. this is. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. the. this. the. the. the. the. the this. this. this. this. this. this. this is. this. this is. this is. this is. this. this. I thought I was going to go last, but I'll go first. We do scale of 1 to 10. It's taken very seriously. P.S. no one has sent us a scattergraph yet. I'm waiting. Yeah, step up your scattergraph game. Where will the ambulance at Gmail? Maybe once you make it to like 25 episodes? Yeah, I guess. You need a good my favorite horror movies of all time. Okay. And it changed me, I think, profoundly as a young lad. Like I said, it scared the shit out of me when I saw nothing that I'd really seen besides Zibo the clown and scared the shit out of me.
Starting point is 00:35:14 It's a small pool rub. You know, I'm an easy mark. Yeah. I think a perfectly encapsulate the 90s, which is a, you know, perfectly sentimental to me me me me me me me me me me me. And th, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a thi, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,s, which is a, you know, perfectly sentimental to me. And I think it was filmed on a very low budget. I liked it, it was comprised of who at the time were, you know, a couple of nobodies made me feel, you know, just a person walking in the woods kind of, but yeah, enjoyed it. It holds up, like, Katie said, I think, maybe once every three or four years it'll be nice to come back to but yeah right it's not something you could it's not you know I don't know like I don't know like the things something you can watch every week yeah yeah I'm sticking I'm sticking with an eight that's fair I don't know you so I would say I'd give this a six yeah yeah like it's a. I'd give this a six yeah yeah like it's a one thi tha'a'n't the th's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi this it's a this it's a this thi thi th this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this is this is this is th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi the thi the thi thi the sixth sense. Once you know what the flip is, it's like, oh, fudge, you know, I'm done. Man, the first time I saw it, fucking over-the-top, so good.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Like, if someone's never seen this movie before, totally would tell them to see it, and then never watch it again. So yeah, I'd give, I I I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd thuuu. I'd give, I'd thu. I'd give, I'd give, I'd thu. I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd give, I'd thu. Fud, I'd give, I'd give, fudge. Fudgu. Fudguad, fudge it thuaduadu. Fudge it thudge it thudg. Fudg. Fud, I'd thud, I the fud, I fud, I fud, I fud, I fud, I fud, I fud, I thu fud, I'd thud, I'd thud, I'd thud, I'd thud, I'd thud. Ffffffudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudge. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. Fudg. F's not a high body count, but it is a TPK, total player kale, so I feel that's something I can really get behind. Push your glasses up now. And then there are a lot of great 90s things about it, which I love. Like at one point Josh is pointing the camera at Heather because he's mad that she's been basically putting the camera in their faces the whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole whole, I see why you like this. It's like a filtered reality. And a filtered reality is like the most 90s phrase I've ever heard. So for that reason, I'm giving it a six and a half. Oh, okay. I like it. I don't like a lot of the novelty, but that sort of cheapens it. I don't want to say uniqueness, but that's really what it is of this at the time.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Right. And how they handled it, so. It's the first of a thing on some level. Like, you know, it's not the first found footage movie, but it is the first of this, in the internet age, I thi's, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, and I'm, and I'm, th, and I'm th, th, th. th. thi's the the thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's that's that's thi, that's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and I's, and I's, and I's, and I's, and I's, and I's, and I'm, and I'm thi. And, and I'm thin. And, and I'm they. And, they. And, they. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. you mean. And if we're going to talk about the 90s, we've got to talk about Josh's undercut. That's the most 90s haircut. I really like it. I definitely went into a Blurwich chat room on America Online. After this movie came out to discuss theories.
Starting point is 00:37:36 I remember distinctly doing that. Well probably while downloading songs on Napster. Did you have a rock and undercut in the 90s? No, I rock. I had very spiky hair in the 90s. OK. No sideburns and spiky hair. Oh, that's a hard look, man. It was the 90s. I definitely in 92 had the undercut. I had the ponytail.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Nice. . .. Yeah. I know. Mom's are not in favor of undercuts. Oh, I do want to mention that the production company, Haxen Films, is named after the Witch Documentary Haxin. That's really awesome. You know, I don't know much about witches. You know, I have good witch movies.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Can we a good witch movie? Hey, I donthe crucible? I've read that. It's a good, uh, it's a good movie. Are you talking about the Winona Ryder in there? Yeah, Winona Ryder, it's like three hours long. It's a long movie. You don't have time for that. Give me shorter wish. It's a long to, that's got to Google it for me. I need you to Google it for. Did we discuss how much this money actually made? How many? Yeah. It's two, again, they filmed it for $22,500,000, $225,000.
Starting point is 00:38:49 And it made $2408 million worldwide. That's just box office. That's not even $248. Yeah. Yeah. 81 minutes. Yeah. 81 minutes. Yeah. E. Yeah. that's 41 minutes. Yeah. Gets th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're. they they they're. they're. they're. Yeah. they're. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I they. I they. I they. I they. I th. I they th. they the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're. they they. It's just over 80. 80. And that fluctuates. So, God, I gotta get rich. They didn't drag it out. I thought that maybe the timing of this movie was pretty good, the pacing at least. It kind of got started somewhat slow and then it just started somewhat. And then it just kept rolling in the woods for a while. And I was like, all right, stop bobbing. Go to the house, stop the bobbing. And then a climaxes and ends very quickly in like a matter of two minutes.
Starting point is 00:39:30 And you're just left in silence. Yeah. And kudos to them for not like at the last moment having the W.W-E production's the camera Witch project. Yeah. Hey Katie, what are we doing next week? Next week we will be doing the WWE Productions film Oculus, which you can find on Netflix right now, so definitely go and check that out and we'll be discussing it next Monday. All right, so you can find us on Facebook where we are backslash. You can find us on Twitter or where Bielance? I think we're getting an Instagram,
Starting point is 00:40:04 we're going to have an Instagram. I think we're getting an Instagram right? We're moving into the mid-2010s. We're branching out on social media. We're trying to get some teens up in here. Yeah I think... No we've abandoned the tubler so we're not trying to get the teens up in here. So are you saying I should shut down our Snapchat? Oh dick picks with the episode name written on him. You know, that's not a bad marketing bullet. All right, thanks for listening. Thanks for listening to another episode of Wearable Ambulance. Bye. Bye. Bye.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Bye. Bye.
