Starting point is 00:00:00 Katie. Alan. Can I read you my first note? I'd love you to. What's this going to be? I haven't heard good things. Oh, you have not. I haven't heard anything, except from you. Oh, really? What's this going to be? I haven't heard good things. Oh, you have not. I haven't heard anything, except from you.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Oh, really? Yeah, so what are people saying? That they don't like this movie? Interesting. Yeah, what movie are we doing? Velvet Buzz saw? That's not a good name. It's not. It also has nothing to do with the movie.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Yeah, it does. Because the woman's band was Velvet BothSaw. Yeah, but it has nothing to do with the plot. And then the very end of it. I know, but that has nothing to do with literally anything. I, it does it a weird way. Okay, I look forward to explaining to me. But I would like to say that Velvet BuzzSaw is a great name for a girl punk band. Oh for sure. Yeah, nailed it. Not a then, yeah, yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that is, that is that is that is that is that is that is that is th. that is that is that is th. thi. Yeah, that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is to to to to that is that is that is that is that is no, that is no, that is no. Yeah, that is no. Yeah, that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th IMO. Morph is also not a good name for things. I liked, I actually liked all of the characters' names in this. I liked all of the artists that they just referenced that never appeared, like Lilith Van Den Walden and like, you know what I mean? Everybody's name is absurd and I really appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:01:21 You're telling me you you think John Don't the thond John John John John John John John John John John John the name the name that. You're telling me you think John Dondon's name is absurd. I like that a lot. John Dondon. I like that it's a critique of a thing for a very small group of people. And they made a big movie about it. Yeah, although I think that even if you're not involved in the art world, you can assume it is terribly pretentious and money driven so I mean I have nothing to do with art but I got it. I thought you got one of them art degrees. Yeah I like looked at
Starting point is 00:01:49 paintings from the 1600s or whatever and I was like word I'll write a paper about that and that's the extent of it. Okay okay. Although the character of Coco the like 22 year old girl from Michigan I was definitely a cocoa to a woman named When I worked right out of college in event planning And she was very much a Renee Russo character But I like didn't care that much about my career and was really into partying so it didn't last Unlike unlike Coco who worked for everybody in this movie. Can I do a little spoiler alert right now? Yeah. I fucking loved Renee Russo, too. And I thought, why doesn't she work more? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Maybe she might. She might be on like, fucking China Beach 90210 something or other. You love that show? Why are you acting like, you don't love China Beach, 90210? It's a movie about the show about Vietnam that takes place in Beverly Hills. Hear me out, hear me out. She is married to the writer and director of this film, but I thought she was great. Yeah, she, every time she was on screen I was like, this movie just got better.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Yeah, she's captivating. I also liked the woman who played Josephina. I thought she was pretty good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and of course, hunky, hunky, hunky, hunky, hunky, hunky, hank, hank, hank, hank,. Yeah, I like couldn't decide where I was coming down with him on this one. Okay, tell me what's up. He, first of all, I find it very difficult to believe that such a fancy, fancy art man does that much upper body work. You know what I mean? He is insanely jacked. He's insanely jacked, and I just don't thrown.
Starting point is 00:03:16 to thin' thinne it by saying that his boyfriend was a personal trainer. Yeah, but like I'm still not buying it. I mean, I'm gonna go out to live and say his boyfriend had a hell of an ass when he walked by him naked. There were a lot of good butts in this movie. And I don't know. I mean, he's really chewing up the scenery. Yeah. It was weird because for a lot of the movie he he had like a weird almost Caesar cut? Yes. And then at one point he pushed it back and I was like, that's what you needed to be doing, buddy. Yeah, real nice now. It did look nice after that.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Also, second John Malkovich movie we've done? Why is John Malkovich always just being John Malkovich? I guess is that what the movie is? I guess it's that's what that the what that's about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about him being him. I mean, what is that movie? Oh, it's been so long, so they've seen it. What's the plot? John Cusack figures a way to get, or figures out some trick to getting inside of John Malkovich's head.
Starting point is 00:04:13 But why? And then when he's inside of him, if I remember it correctly, the way John Malkovich sees the world is that everybody.. That's bananas. It's a real banana. It's a bonkers movie. I a thing that I didn't know Was the John Malcovich wasn't a fictional character that he was a real person So movie type it's very confusing. Yeah for sure. For sure. Is he always playing this this role? He is and it's interesting because he is on a I think it's an Amazon original that's he's playing poor row. Oh, I don't really like that. He's like. He's. He's like. He's. He's like. He's the the th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's that's that's the the the that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the th. th. th. the th. th. the the th. the the the th. th. the the the the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the John. the the the John. thi. thi. thi. that's that's that's that's that's, he's playing Poirot. Oh, I don't really like that.
Starting point is 00:04:48 He's like, he talks like John Malkovich. Yeah. But like with a hint of a Belgian exit, you're just like, no, sorry. You need Poirot to be like, Hastings, you know. Sick Hastings pull. Thank you. I've been listening to a lot of Perot audiobooks. Easy, see, I have a lot of Hastings. Because I'm Sup's Cool.
Starting point is 00:05:10 You know what, Alan? The veil has dropped. Oh, can I tell you about the most boring tagline ever that this movie has? I would love to hear it. A supernatural force sets out to exact revenge against a, art profiteer's to exploit a series of paintings by an unknown artist. Yeah man I mean that is the plot but like spice it up a little. Talk about Tony Collett's cool hair. She looks amazing. Also her sweater game is on fucking point.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Uncriminally underutilized in this movie. Yeah yeah usually is even when she's the lead she should have more time. Agree. Although I didn't see that hereditary. A friend of mine sent me a message. Hi Dan who listens to the podcast. I don't know why I waved at you. Yeah. He is not in the room with us. It'd be weird if he was. We also realized that we hadn't seen each other in like 15 years in this conversation which is weird. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. I theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. But, hi Dan, I'm glad you're doing well. I guess just sad. He was like, hey, you guys are going to do so hereditary. I just saw it and I was like, absolutely not. We're not taking that movie. You're not taking that movie.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Yeah. I'm okay. If we want to do it, I to do it, I to want to do to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do like it too. And I was like, huh? Huh. Yeah. Okay. I didn't think it was that scary. She's like, it was less scary than Bird Box. Oh. Yeah. I don't know why I did her voice like that. She doesn't sound like that.
Starting point is 00:06:34 I've met her. She doesn't know, but I liked it. I am flummoxed by that. Yeah, well, I think us less than I like because that movie like kind of like Punched me in the core of my being Yeah, and Burbox did not do that no no no all right well whatever will table it. Yeah, we'll do it at some point if you're open to it. I will watch it again. I will try. I will to thrown. I'll try. I will to tho th, I th, I th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the th. the the th. th. the to to to the to to to the the the the the the to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to th. to th. everywhere in movies, so. It's true, especially in this genre. Yeah, I have no choices. I have no agency in this. Oh, it just came across the name, Meldus Vendermost.
Starting point is 00:07:14 That's what I'm saying. They're all van der this and van der that Lilith Van Horgen flung. I laughed at that, I laughed. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd. I'd th. I'd th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've no, I've th. I've th. I've no, I have no, I have no. I have no. I have no the. I have no. I have no. I have they were just like, I'm just going to put one together right now. Let's see what happens. They had like Nordic name maker generator and just were like, refresh, refresh, write it down. Refresh, write it down. Oh man. Why do I have the note Fruit Loop Hipo?
Starting point is 00:07:40 Because that's what the maintenance guy said that he had made. He was the worst, that guy. I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. They th. They th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. that. th. that. that. that. that. that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I th. That's right. He was the worst, that guy. I feel like I've seen him in other stuff. Oh really? Yeah, as I, like, as that guy. Yeah. But he might just be a blonde, white dude sort of thing. Kind of buff. I want to say that I thought all of the acting not hate this movie. Me neither. Yeah I kind of liked it. I
Starting point is 00:08:05 was surprised I have I have a couple really big grapes about it. Okay. One would be why is it so long? Because art man and movies nowadays are my answers to that but yes way too long. Did you who wasn't that was a? My notes are so scattered? Oh yeah when when Morph and Josephine are hissu? thi it that was a, my notes are so scattered. Oh yeah, when Morph and Josephina are hooking up for the first time on screen and she draws his hand towards her crotch and there's the sound of an airplane taking up. I don't know, but I was like, oh shit, this movie is a comedy. Yeah, and there are a lot of funny moments. Oh yeah. Even just when he says to her, your skin is the perfect cross between almond and saddle brown or whatever, I was like,
Starting point is 00:08:47 that's funny. It was really funny. Because I can't imagine anyone being like, I will make love to you now. Yes, right? He'd be like, here is the door. Morph. Oh, that is quite a name to have to yellowel to yell have to yell have to yell have to yell have to yell have to yell have to yell a to yell a to yell a to yell, to yell, the to yell, to the to the the to the to the to a name to have to yell out in the moment of ecstasy. Oh, morph.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Is it short for something? Do we ever learn? No. No, why did I ask? But he is sitting around naked on furniture, which I find to be like rude and disrespectful. You have said that before. You have said that before. You know, that's where your poop comes out of.
Starting point is 00:09:21 I feel like if I looked that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's to to to to to to to to to to to that jacked, you would have a hard time getting clothes with me. You have to wipe so well, you know, or you're ruining everything. You just having cats ruins your furniture because they don't wipe. There's definitely a bidet today's their house. Yeah, probably. That's fair. Which I still don't understand their home. You can go over and use it. Oh, excellent. You're gonna make an appointment for me?
Starting point is 00:09:45 I feel like, my friend Alan's gonna come over and take a shit around 3 o'clock. That actually doesn't work with my usual schedule. Sorry, well, you let me know. I love all of Renee Russo's weird tattoos, like no death, no art. Yeah. so, that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thiann, thiann, that. that. that. Yeah, that. that. she's supposed to be a punk is that she's sold out. Yeah. She has become part of the establishment, but still tries to like rely on that creed. For sure. And everything is about money.
Starting point is 00:10:14 This entire movie is just about money and money and money and money. When she's talking to Demrish, and she's like, she's basically being like the cool school counselor, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, being like the cool like school counselor that's like yeah I'm down with you kids. Hello fellow students no hello fellow kids yeah the steep shimmy thing right? Am I meme accurate? I think so. So to kind of to morphph is a art dealer, or not a critic. Yeah, yeah. Who says dumb things like criticism is really hard or something? A lot of that. And he's like, he's a make or break kind of guy. And everyone kisses his ass, everywhere goes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Like the one guy who's trying to get him to review Hobo Man? I thought Hobo Man was really scary. It was terrify. Terrify. Yeah. Someone on Twitter who was like, I seen that movie, you guys are gonna be scared of Hobo Man. I was fucking scared a hobo man. Imagine that in real life. Yeah, that's that whole uncanny valley shit when it looks. It's like this like, uh, like diagram where as it gets to hu- the the sc- th, the the th, th by mannequins. Yeah, all right. Puppets and stuff. Sure. Or zombies, why zombies are so, because they're like butt right up against humanity, but they're not human.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Okay. Yeah, I believe that. But yeah, he was real creepy. And I was like trying to figure out where the actor was in that wasn't just a robot? I don't know... That I thought it was just a robot. No, it probably was. I mean, with sex-dolled technology they got out there. Oh my God. Not like the enormous amount of robotic innovations there have been in the past decade.
Starting point is 00:11:55 You're like, you've got to fuck that. I assume it's all going to fuck that. Just going to fuck that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that trajectories for humanity right now. It's like what NASA's doing and fuck stuff. So you like, you, the first time you saw a rumba, you were like, who's fucking that? Oh, 100%? Some prevert has definitely laid that on their lap and just gone, uh, oh my god, why you say these things?
Starting point is 00:12:18 I've never thought about a rumo like that, but yes, someone's definitely fucked it. I'll look it up later. Is it an option? Yes, it's happened. Yeah, all right. It's true. So Morph is the maker break guy and everybody wants him and he seems to have a special relationship with Renee Russo's character. And he really likes the, or she seems to know what's going on in the art world, and he always gives her good reviews.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Can we talk about real quickly? Her name is Rodora. Rodora? Yeah. But come to find out that she has been paying his boyfriend to find out what art he likes, and then she signs them ahead of time. What's that boyfriend doing?
Starting point is 00:12:59 I don't know, but also that didn't make a lot of sense because where where it for him to review before she could get it into her gallery? On his laptop? No, no, no, I mean like, where do he see? Like, how was he writing reviews of it if it's not already hanging somewhere? It just didn't make sense to me. Yeah, no, you just made this movie fall apart. There are a lot of his boyfriend. Ed. Ed. Yeah, the young artist that Rodora is wooing is named Domrish. Domrish.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And then his, the character, the actor who plays him is Davide Diggs, and I was like, you're related to Tay, but he is not. Oh. That's all. But Domrish? It does not look like a Domrish to me. Did Morph look like a Morph? No.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Rodora? John Dundon. What was John Mowgivich, peers? Something? Yeah, just I have his peers. And Josephina works for Rodora and she gets fired the same night that a, or no, sort of demoted. Yeah, demoted the same night that a guy in her apartment dies and she sneaks into his apartment and sees that it's filled with art. And this was giving me,
Starting point is 00:14:22 do you remember Henry Darger? He was a guy who they, like after he passed away, he didn't have any family or anything, and the people in his building went into his apartment, and it was filled with these collage works of like young girls with butterfly wings and penises that are involved in this giant war with these cat people. What? No, I don't know. I don't know about this. He'd written a 3, thous th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th the th th the th the the th th the the th the the the the he he he he he he he he he he he he he hea hea hea he hea hea- heat he hea- hea- hea- hea- hea- hea- hea hea hea hea hea hea, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, after thi. they. After they they they they. After their with these cat people. What? No, I don't know about this. He'd written a 3,000 page book that like tells this whole story. Wow. And he was like a maintenance man that no one knew he was doing this. Wow. And there was an exhibit, oh God, it's 15 years ago at this point at the war hall of his stuff. And I was like, I went and saw it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. th. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. ththe Warhol of his stuff. And I went and saw it. And it was the weirdest thing, because it was like, oh, I'm not supposed to be looking at this.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Right, and he never meant for you to. No, it was like, it was this sort of situation of this movie. Like, I'm sure he thought it was going to be destroyed. Yeah. And here it, he became like, this guy even was a maintenance guy. Yeah, yeah. Which I took issue with a little bit because they were like he was a maniac and he worked at like the VA as a maintenance guy but he lived in this incredibly nice building. Sure. She also lived in and I saw her apartment was real nice. How's he paying for that? It was a real friend situation where like how are you guys doing this? How you live? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He. He. He. He. He. He. I was. I was. th. I was. I was. I was. I was. th. I was. I was. th. I was. th. th. I was. th. th. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. th. I was like. th. I was like. I was. th. I was. I guess. But yeah, that's what it reminded me of.
Starting point is 00:15:46 And I'm sure that that was some influence on what was going on. And then it has like, it was giving me a little bit like Pikmin's model, the Lovecraft story about the guy who's like painting these amazing realistic demons. Because he has a demon locked up in his house. Spoiler alert for a frequent mall. For some Lovecraft. So it was sort of giving me those vibes too. So this guy's paintings are possessed. Yeah. I guess.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I mean, that's where I was confused. When they started talking about the spirit at the end, I was like, no, no. It was real silly. Because also, he was able to possess things that were the paintings, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, the, things that weren't his paintings. Like when the maintenance guy from the or the installer from Rodora's Gallery crashes into that gas station, there's that painting of the grease monkeys fixing the car and then they start like, like, they come alive? I kind of loved that though.
Starting point is 00:16:34 I loved it too, but it didn't make any fucking sense. It gave me hope that I can, I like the story. Yeah, it's cute. But like, why were they moving? They've, that would just been hanging in that case, gas station for a while. And the thing that kills Tony Colette is also not his. Oh yeah, right. Which I loved that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:57 That was giving me strong phantasmism vibes. So she discovers the art, takes it, and is like, she's gonna represent this artist. Yeah. But then her boss is like, yeah, fuck that. I get haveses. Right, you signed a non-compete, basically. Which I assume that the art world is just littered with that shit. I would have to imagine, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:21 And this is where I have the note, Ah, still not a horror movie. Pretty far into it. No, that's true. A lot of this movie is about the workings of the art world, which is like horrific, but not in a way you want to watch, you know? Yeah. But once it gets going. Once it gets going, it really gets going? Should we the Ricky the
Starting point is 00:17:45 maintenance guy okay is he the first death yes but he gets killed by the monkeys in that painting which have nothing to do with anything so I don't know but he does have boxes of the guy's paintings that catch on fire oh right because we see them catch on fire of their own accord earlier in his apartment and also he appears in the rear view mirror when he's driving which actually kind like like like the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Yeah. I th. th. the the the the. th. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. Is they. Is they. Is. Is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Is. Is. Is. Is th. Yeah. Is th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I's is the. I's the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the. Is. Is in the rear view mirror when he's driving, which actually kind of liked. Yeah. Yeah. I, why do the paintings want to kill themselves?
Starting point is 00:18:13 I think because they were never meant to be seen. Because at the end, Josephina says to Domriche, what good is art if nobody sees it? Which I think is sort of like the theme of this, the motif of this work, if you will. Oh, that degree's coming down. Yeah. You know, I was just thinking about Jake Jilinhal being sort of like a taste maker, and I guess I can sort of understand that because that's kind of how we are on this podcast. You know, sure, we're influencers. You know, like when we panned the happening, Mm-hmm. Mn't the the the the the the they-N-N-N-N-M-M-N-M-M-M-N-M-N-M-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-S-S. Yeah, that's happening? M. Night Shomelan never made another movie. We're only that true. They won't stop letting it make movies.
Starting point is 00:18:52 That's true. I was unsurprised to hear that that last one that he made glass or whatever was not good. I don't even know about it. It was a unbreakable and split put together in one movie. Oh sure, take two, take two make them one, as they say in the art world. So they're basically selling these, his name is what, Vetral Desk? Because of course it is. Rodora and Josephina are selling these pieces to collections and to buyers and... Right, and they've supposedly limited, this is where Ricky dies because he is going to hide most of the paintings.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Right. So they can keep a limited supply and check the price up. Right, they're like artificially deflating the supply. Yeah. Which they later are like, J.K. we have all these just buy them and leave us alone. Which doesn't seem like great great to to to to to to to to to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy to buy too. too. too. too. to. to. to. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. So. So. So. So, their. So, their. their. So, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the their. their. their. So. So, like. So, like. like, J.K. we have all these just buy them and leave us alone. Um, which doesn't seem like great business, but okay. Um, so Ricky dies by monkey and fire. Yes. Then John Dundon. Who, I don't know why he dies, because he has nothing to do with this scheme. He was just an asshole. Yeah. He poaches John Malkovich from Rodora. Right. And then, what? Why does he get killed? Much to his?
Starting point is 00:20:07 Oh, he's poking around. He's he hires a private investigator. So maybe that's why he dies. The private investigator is never heard from again, which is kind of strange, don't you think? He should have like showed up and given like valuable information to someone. What do you think that accent was that John that John that John that John that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that accent was that John Dondon had? Um, born in Kansas, went to school in a big city.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Okay. You? I was thinking weird South African accent. Okay, better. I just checked the actor. He's from London. Okay. He was doing a thing. Maybe he was trying to sound like he was from Los Angeles. You know what I mean? Maybe it was he was, he was, he was, he was, he was, he was, he was. He's. He's thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi. thi. thi. to thi. to to thi. Um. Um, um. Um, um. Um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um. Um. Um, um, um, um. Um, um, um, um. Um, um, um, um, um, um, um, thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to like he was from Los Angeles. You know what I mean? Maybe he's American accent. Don't British people when they want to be American, they just talk like this? That's pretty good. Yeah. Or they get a little southern. Oh sure,
Starting point is 00:20:54 yeah, that's the easy way to do it. Yeah. Just talk like low-hanging fruit British people. They're just watching They're just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. A the the the the the the the their. their. the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low low. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're just just just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're just. they're. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just watching Matthew McConaughey movies like, got it, got it. Yes, yes. Just draw all. Just draw all. Just make it seem like you did a rip, rip right before this started. Maybe you actually just do a rip right before you do it. Seems fine. And everyone is way into this really mediocre art. They think it's really amazing.
Starting point is 00:21:22 It's blowing them away. It seems like it has some supernatural properties because people say like, oh, it's moving or it's haunting or I don't know, whatever. This guy, we get his back story really fast, but he like was. Yeah, he was like, he was, I guess he was in an assaint asylum for a while. They're like, private investigators like he committed unspeakable crimes and then he wasn't in his like, what unspeakable crimes?
Starting point is 00:21:45 I'm gonna need you to speak about those. Right, you're making a two-hour movie, you have time to tell me. And a lot of the paintings featured like a younger, like his younger sister, but we don't find out why. Oh, I didn't even register that. Yeah, because there's like a little girl and a little boy in a lot of them. Presumably the little boy is him. Oh, I got you. She's the little sisters in like the photos that we see. Oh, that's right. That's right.
Starting point is 00:22:09 You're right. But like why? Oh, I didn't. Okay. In the two hours, the word ensorcelled in this movie? It was Jake Jilinow. It was Jake Jilinow. I was very excited about ensorcelled.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Yeah, he uses it to describe how he feels about ventral d'ease's work, I believe. I'm ensorcelled. Who says that? The only people I know who say it are, so you just have to like start getting different things in there. Fair. And everything rhymes with in source old if you're writing music.
Starting point is 00:22:53 The tasty morsel. I'm in soresolved. But out of time we refreshed it. Oh, man. Did you find the relationship between Morph and Josephina to be wholly unbelievable? Yeah, 100%! Yeah, okay, just make a share. He seemed to have been ensourced by Josephina. Yeah. Like they hooked up and they were in Germany or something and he hasn't stopped thinking about it. But she is into it too and I don't get why. Yeah, yeah. I don't.
Starting point is 00:23:30 I mean it's Jake Chilinho. Come on. Yeah, but he's really. He's also Morph. He's more. And Morph is really hard to be around. He's being super critical at John Dondon's funeral. Like critiquing the funeral. He's like I just can't turn it off. It's rude. Let's talk about Don Don Don Don's office? When Coco goes there? Okay. With the weird toys? And penguins? Yeah, what was that? Fuckers got penguins in his office. I couldn't tell if that was like in the gallery like that was an exhibition? Oh maybe? I don't know. I just wrote like what is this and why and why and why and why? And why? their. And why? their. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. th. th. th. th. th. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. their. their. th. th. th. to. to. to. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. th maybe. I don't know. Because I just wrote like, what is this? And why are there weird toys everywhere? I just, I was so fixated on, like, the possibility of having penguins in your office, like the most low-rate James Bond villain ever.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Yeah. Ah, that other guy's got a shark tank, but I've just got to the to keep alive guys. It shows that I have this Stook to do it. It's here. You're gonna keep it cold for him and stuff. I mean you're in LA It's not that hard a lot of places do it Sure, I think they'll eat a lot of things, you know, but it's not You know I'm gonna take you back on this and I think penguins are hardy. I don't think they're fragile if if they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, people would have them as pets. I don't think so. They need a lot of space. Exactly. And cold stuff. All right, moving on. No, we're figuring this.
Starting point is 00:24:52 How hard is it to take care of penguins? Do you know, let us know? But he realizes that Coco has insider information for him. Right. About the, uh, all the art stuff and the cheating and back dealing and all that that's going on. Because Coco has been fired by Rodora. Seemingly everyone. Yes. Did you like the, um, the running gag of her finding all the bodies?
Starting point is 00:25:16 I did. I actually like that a lot. Especially what she finds in the last one. Yeah. That's really good. And then it just ends with her going back to Michigan. She got to get back to them stranger things, dog. She's going to do so much better in Michigan, honestly. You think? Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:31 She could be a big fish there. That's why I've never left Pittsburgh. Just kidding. Real Cocoa. Yeah, come to the 35-year-old tired Cocoa. You're going to visit Cocoa on Christmas Eve. Oh, Cocoa is the future. How's it going? I'll do it pretty well.
Starting point is 00:25:52 Yeah, we're doing all right. Yeah, we got contacts. I thought you meant like people you knew but you know I mean contact with Susie. She's the big sister on Stranger Things. Oh, that's where I knew her from. Okay. Yeah, she's, she's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's good. She's good. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the the the th. It's the future. It's the future. It's the the the the the. It's the. It's the the ththis. She's the big sister on Stranger Things. Oh, that's where I knew her from. Okay, yeah, she's good. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Then, um, the next person to die is Tony Colette, who is a, who has left her museum job to be a representative for like a private art collector. So she just buys some art and then gets murdered by a sphere. She's she's the way we figure out that morph isn't dirt dealing because she's like, hey I can slide you a little something something something if you want to tell me what's hot. Yeah. So I can buy it from my dude. And he's like, oh my god, I would never do that. That's that's disgusting. That's how we are on this podcast. Yeah. People are o th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. the. the. the. the. the. thi. thi. the thi. the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. theeeat theat theat theateeeeeeeeat theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. the. the. the. this podcast. People are offering us money all the time to write good reviews and say good things about them. And we're like, listen, Mnigh Shambhalon, we're not going to do it. We have integrity, and this is our art.
Starting point is 00:26:53 I will point out that you really like the happening. I did not really like the happening. I just think it was better than I gave it credit for. for having seen what I know now. Knowing ghost ship. Yes. Oh my notes are already coming to an end. Me too. Tony Collet gets killed because there's this ball, this giant metal phantasm looking ball that you put your hand in and it like rewards you somehow or gives you a sensation or... I don't think that it rewards you like a claw machine? You know, like some cracker jack out of it? I don't think I would stick my hand in there. Why? Because all the other nasty people that would stick in their hands in there?
Starting point is 00:27:30 That did not even occur to me, just because I'd be too scared. Because like what if there's a spider in there? Her scorpions? Yeah. Or what if you're insourseled? Oh God, I feel like I'm always in Sorceled. I'm so sad. We should get that checked out. So it grabs her arm and fucking amputates it. Okay, so then the next scene is Josephina describing how they found her body. The security guards thought it was part of the installation. I loved it so much. Okay, but here's the part I didn't like was, and then a school tour came in and the kids started playing in the blood. And I was like, we're like, even if it wasn't real blood, why are you letting those kids
Starting point is 00:28:07 touc the art? Get us, get the fuck away from it. It would stink. It would stink. It would smell terrible. It would smell terrible. And also like, don't the kids tou. vaccine, which is very funny. Until Coco comes in and realizes what's happened. Yeah. Do you remember a couple years ago where at an art museum,
Starting point is 00:28:27 someone took off their glasses and put them on the floor in front of a blank wall? And then people just started like lining up around it. And you're like, oh, oh, I see what they're doing here. I see what's going on. There was a lot of the, what it's saying about the, you know, whatever, I can't even make it up. But this movie does that really well, making up those funny things. It's true.
Starting point is 00:28:48 It almost seemed like the people who wrote it hate the art community on some level. Yeah, and as well they should, it seems terrible. Especially I think that high end of it where it's like any of that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit that shit where people were like, oh, this wine has notes of horse blanket and tobacco toes. It's just, it's just a thing that's for the rich, but it isn't supposed to just be for the rich, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yeah. That's why we do this for free. This is our art. Also, if you want to give us money, you can't just just just just the money, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tho, tho, tho, tho, to give us, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. tooo. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. thi. thi. It's thi. It's that sign. But don't send a money order because I still have one that I don't know what to do with. Just take it to the bank. Just shake it at them? I think you hand it to them. I don't think you need to shake it at them. Grun, snorseled. So she dies and then. And then Morp sees her on the, she's on the bus and she turns around and she's got a a a th. And she's th. And she's the to. And she's to. And she's the toe. And she's toe. And she's the toe. toe. the the toe. the the the toe. the the the toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. to. to. to. to. to. to. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And she's. And to. And to. And to. And to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And the. And. And. And the. And then Morp sees her on the bus and she turns around and she's got a fucked up arm. It was real dumb. On the side of the bus as like an advertisement. Yeah, it was like a very Sarah Jessica Parker at the beginning of sex in the city. Oh, a hundred percent?
Starting point is 00:29:52 Yeah, real dumb. But it made me laugh. Yeah, oh yeah. I mean, the things moving in pictures is very funny. I loved the the the th th reaches out of the banding and he jumps off but up until that point he'd like one of them was not into what was happening and he's like you know that just sort of like perfunctory sex that they're having were like well we got we started this so right might as well clean it up. But but but it's just weird because we're meant to believe that they are like just connected on this carnal level.
Starting point is 00:30:28 And it's gross. Once again, intimacy. Also, he has a flip phone. Why does he have a flip phone? Because he's very hip. You know who else has a flip phone? Who? Who?
Starting point is 00:30:40 Heredity? Heredity? Heredity isn't even a word, is it? Heredity? It sounds like a word. Heheredity. Heredity. It's nice because you don't have to move your lips at all.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Heredity. Try it again. One more time. Just do it. Heredity. Try this one on, see what fits. Already, me. He's gonna open her mouth on all the letters fall on. Horedity, hereditary. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Whatever, she has a flip phone. It's annoying, I can't text her pictures. I'm Tony Colette, am I remembering her from her editing. I'm here to sell your own cell phones. Tony Colette also appearing in the M-Night Shomalon film, the sixth sense. Oh that's true. She's so fantastic in that movie. All Colette all the time. Yeah. What she betted? Nothing. She's perfect. Ever since I saw in Muriel's wedding. Cute. Yeah. So enough Colette talk. She's dead. So let's stop talking about her.
Starting point is 00:31:45 This is where it goes off the rails a little bit. When they realize they have to kill off the main characters and can't figure out how to do it, it's like... Well, Morp's writing a book about him at this point. Yes. Van Diesel or Ventral D's or... Nailed it in one. Okay, here's a quick thing, here's how you could tell that I didn't
Starting point is 00:32:05 write this movie, because it no one, no point does anyone get upset and yell, D's nuts and walk out of the room. No, that's so classy though. So Coco doesn't die? So how does Morph dies? Oh, well he dies by Hobo Man. Yeah, Hobo Man gets him in the storage unit and then Cocoa finds his body. I thought the Hobo Man death scene was extremely good. You're really creepy. Really creepy and just breaking his neck was really good, I thought too. It was like, because the rest of the movie had been fairly gory. And he just, liked it, liked. like cracks his neck. I liked it a lot. I liked it too. I also liked it because
Starting point is 00:32:46 when Jake Dylan Hall's neck gets snapped he kind of gives like a bleh to the camera. Yeah, yeah. I feel like a lot of winking at the camera in this movie. Josephita dies going by paint. Like in a fake art gallery that like the spirit opens up behind her after Damrush kicks her out of the bar they're hanging out at. I don't get why she would go in there. She just loves art. She's gonna go look at art and maybe she didn't sell it to people. It literally hadn't been there a moment earlier. Just sometimes the art is just so attractive.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I guess. And so the paint, it's like graffiti sort of mural, urban art on the walls, and it like leaks onto the floor and then up into her skin. She drops her cell phone and that's it for her for now. For now. Then we cut to Rhodora, who's like losing her mind, I guess. With everyone dying around her, yeah. And a piece of art falls in her backyard and nearly kills her and you think, oh, she has dodged the bullet.
Starting point is 00:33:48 She has not. Sirs, she has not. This is a hundred percent the worst death in the movie. Yes. But first before we get to the death, did you like how she ended up being that painting? Of her like sitting next to the cat. I did. I just thought they should have shown it earlier in the movie because they put it in there in the last like 10 minutes and then immediately recreated. But if they had shown that at the top of the movie and then again, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:34:15 Yeah. If it had been more of a, if we had been introduced to the idea earlier, I think I would would would would would would would would would would would would would so fresh in my mind that I thought people were going to be coming up to her. Yeah. And that it was just two cactuses in the like... I'm sorry, the word is cacti. Sorry. Just kidding. Two cactopuses were just sitting there.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Heredity. Heredity. Heredity. A reedy. But so when it's revealed that it's too cacti, like and not people, it's like, oh, that's interesting. So how is she? And then there's like a pause and she's just sort of sitting there and you're like, oh, she just dies. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Because the creepy ass cat, hareless cat bug me out. That's racist, but okay. Although as someone who suffers from asthma and loves cats, I should probably fuck with a hairless cat. They just have a mean look about them, but I don't think they're mean animals. Oh, I'm sure they're delightful. Except they probably feel weird. I've never petted. Oh, I have, they feel like swayed.they feel like swayed, like, like a, like a nice swade jacket. Very fancy, I didn't even think about that. Yeah, they're nice. It's a nice touch. It's a nice toubst.
Starting point is 00:35:30 It's almost like a fancy cat. Yeah, it's almost like, it's a fancy cat. thathe thas. It's just how she goes. Yeah, like her body just shuts down, like the spirit's killed her and just like this really calming way. But no, that is not how they kill her. No, no. I don't, I did not get this. I did not like it and I did not get it. In one of the most top five most weirdly placed tattoos I've ever seen in my life. It's like it should be a shoulder blade. tatoatoed that it's, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I thia, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I the, I thia, I thi, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I th. I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th. I th. I that, I that, I don't that, I don't that, I don't tho, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't, I don't know, I don't, I don't know, I don't that, I don't that muscle, what is that, your trap? We always do this.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Your glutoid? Yep. Your heredity? It's halfway between, I would say, her neck and her end of her shoulder? Yeah, yeah. It's a weird spot. Anyway, it doesn't matter. And so it's a velvet buzz saw, because it says velvet buzz saw and it's a buzz saw. And it looks real shitty. It looks like a stick and poke, you know.
Starting point is 00:36:25 And it's got spinny lines on it so you know that it's moving. As you do with art. So the buzzs all starts buzzing into her neck and the blood shoots out of her. I mean. I don't understand why that was the name of the movie or why that had any bearing on the film. Do the film. Do the film. Do the film. Do the the film. Do you know what I mean? It just seemed oddly placed, I guess. It was, I feel like they were like, oh, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:36:51 And then went, and then ran with it. Yeah, but what actually was kind of cool is is then we see what happened in Josephina, which is that she has become like one with a mural, and she's trapped in it. She's graffiti now. Yeah, I liked that. Did you? I did because she said that because of that line she said like what good is art if nobody sees it now she's there for everybody to see. Oh, I didn't even think he's become one with it because of her greed. Man, you were profound the same. I found so fleeting and then I was like what the
Starting point is 00:37:25 fuck is wrong with me. Well it was great because his whole character arc. I forgot he existed until he showed up again in that last scene though to be fair was that he has lost his uh he's like a writer's block artist block whatever he stopped drinking because he stopped drinking and he get to art a art anymore it's it was rudely it was rudely the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. But on that note, with your glasses on the floor thing, when John Dondon goes up to his studio,. That's not part of it. But the fact that like, so the, at the movie,
Starting point is 00:38:07 the credits roll over him on the beach, like doing big swirlies. Yeah, and the ocean's taken him away. Yeah. But why did he need to be in this movie at all? He's served literally no purpose. I can understand having done Birdbox and now this movie he has to be in all Netflix movies. Oh, you think he's got a conjure? Yeah, he's signed to House Netflix. I look forward to him being in like the sequel to, um, I don't know, some dumb comedy that's done.
Starting point is 00:38:33 To All The Boys I've Loved Part 2? Is that good? Yeah, it's good. I should watch that. Yeah, Missy really likes it. Yeah. Miss, Miss, Miss, miss. Miss, miss. Yeah. Yeah. For like five bucks, if you were like, oh yeah, I'll buy that. But, but the horrors will continue because people are still making money poor old homeless man is just going to get murdered I guess. Yeah maybe. We'll have to see it and Velvet BuzzSall too. Still spitting. Still buzzing. Oy. Katie. So people didn't like this movie thii. No, I saw a

Starting point is 00:39:48 Do you want to rate this bitch? I believe I do. Okay. Would you like me to go first with the rating? Uh, I'm gonna nodded yes at you. I don't know why I did that. Waving, nodding, we've lost how for ourselves at this point. That's what true art is. It's true, no one can see this.
Starting point is 00:40:07 I would give this movie a seven. I had a really fun time watching it. Yeah. What are people's critiques of it? Too long? Too boring? Yes, probably both those things. Not a horror movie.
Starting point is 00:40:19 I've heard some people say. I disagree with that. Yeah. I mean, I think it's funny. Yeah. People usually get mad at that. People don't enjoy humor. They're not listening to this, though, so I don't care about defending them. I don't know. I think, um, I think it caught me at the right time where I really want to see things that are kind of joyful and silly and it kind of like hit those buttons for me and like I'll take a critique of the rich any day of the fucking week exactly way into that and yeah it was just it was a good time like I'll probably never watch it again but if someone asked you if they should watch it yeah if you're the that the toy they. Starting point is 00:41:37 I had no idea. No, it didn't. Well, she is. Congratulations. Yeah, they're a very good-looking couple. That explains where they had a half a million dollars to pay to get their kids in there? I mean, he's got to be rich as fuck. Why not just buy your kids a business at that point? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:55 I don't know. Also, I loved everyone being shocked about the schools accepting bribes But that's just me I was just shocked by the amounts half a million dollars blew my mind. Yeah But anyway, so the rich yeah, it's a very nice Parallel to what's happening here, which is that just like rich people throw money at things and that's then it's just for them. Starting point is 00:42:33 Yeah, seven. I think a hobo manthe basically the convention or whatever that place was the art convention I don't know and he's just saying the things like do you ever feel invisible I was like oh I got yeah chill bumps chil bumps on my neck doesn't you say like I can help you at some point or something like real gross and weird hobo man oh get out of my dreams into my car oh hobo man's on the truck of my car. Is that okay? Um, so I think people are going to be disappointed by this episode if they thought we were going to hate this. But it's not very hateable in my opinion. No. I, again, I think there are definitely other points in my life that if I'd seen this
Starting point is 00:43:18 movie, I'm like, fuck this dumb fucking fuck me, fuck, but I just wasn't there... fuck me, fuck, fuck, but I just wasn't there right now. Yeah. That's the beauty of art, is it depends on how it catches you on that given day. That's right, and that's why we're such good critics. Mm-hmm, for years I hated Bob Dylan and now look at me, big fan. I came around on Bob Dylan. Oh man, I came around on a Pink Floyd. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Starting point is 00:43:45 I kind of had to save the cap with Bob Dylan recently. Yeah, man. Sometimes you're just wrong about shit. It's true. It's true. Well, baby. Yeah. Can I take you to a little place that I like to call mail bag?

David Jay asks, Knowing that you both like music, what are your current favorite bands? Love the show and always look forward to the next episode.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Heart, wolf, ambulance. Katie, what do you listening to right now? Pink Floyd. Straight up my music selection sucks so bad right now. Like I listen to nothing except like soul. 90s pop punk. Oh okay. And that synth pop playlist you made for my child when she was born. What 90s pop punk are you hitting just out of curiosity? You want to, can I, can I just show you my, my, uh, please? My running playlist. And it's not all pop punk, but you'll get the gist of it once I start reading. I was expecting more more squirt gun and Pennywise. Oh I never got into Pennywise. Hmm. Mm-mm. Uh-uh. Oh, I never got into Pennywise. Hmm, hmm. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Uh, so my life is weird now. I like want to listen to new music and I cannot figure out how to do it. And I hear people, I literally don't know if people are being sincere or not, but they're like, I love this band macaroni and cheese. And I'm like, is that real? I don't know. Like, I think I'm about to do that to you right now. Okay, go for it. What do you listen to? Since I am coming up on my 45th birthday shortly. By the time this episode comes out, you will be days. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Yeah. Yeah. Um, I now find out about music. tookyl 47. Who is this hip-hop artist that only like wears masks when she is rapping? I like her and sing. I like her music quite a bit. I found it really, she did a tiny desk concert that I really liked. And yeah, I'm a thousand years old.
Starting point is 00:46:34 Nah, you're just a middle-aged white man. And then I've been listening to a lot of jazz that nobody really you thought it was going to be. Sorry, we're boring. I mean, I couldn't even tell you like, what would be the correct hip response right now? I don't know. Macaroni and cheese, I think. Are you fucking with you, right? Yes, I am. It was literally the first phrase that popped in my head. Pumpernickel. Pupernicul.
Starting point is 00:47:05 It would have to be called like Pumpernickel Porcupine or something. I'm sorry, no, it's Pumpernickel. And you can't be in it if you're going to be questioning my creative authority. You're not going to do another question or is that? I've got a short one that I think we can do quickly. This one is from Adam Barry on Twitter. Oh, um, didn't we pick on Adam? I believe we did. Hi Adam. Because his handle is Adam's Barry.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Yeah. Oh, Adam's Barry. Best decade, question mark. 80s, 90s, ought the crap they make it now. Starting point is 00:47:53 That was like when I really hit my stride. You feel like you're really shown in the aughts. Yeah, I mean, obviously you're going take on British because I think there's a lot of great horror movies coming out in the now. Yeah, I agree with that. I think we've done it, like, it follows the witch. Reddy? The Reddy. Baba Duke. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:13 I think there's a lot of really good stuff coming out. I think a lot of horror that's coming out now too is really like, even when it it it it it it it it's, even, evenbuster stuff, it's like still pretty good. Like at Ladies Nightmare recently, we watched Happy Death Day. Have you seen this? I have it, but I thought that we should do it for the podcast. Spoilers for that episode. I fucking loved it. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:48:34 So good. And I just feel like there's a lot of that stuff coming out. Sure. Final girls. The final. th. th. I think we're doing the best that we can. Okay, great. We're just getting that little bit of internet fame. And I lost something like, it, I don't know, like, spoiler for next week. I have some interesting things to say about the 90s and horror movies as well. Yeah, I want, I'm really excited to see where youtalk. But yeah, I think everything, I don't know, I mean, I was surprised that the 70s weren't included on here because I think the 70s are kind of a killer decade for horror movies
Starting point is 00:49:29 too. But it's also a really gritty and bad time too, where things aren't fun. Sure, you know, which might be why I really like it. I feel like it. I feel like it's really thia. I thin. isn't too, like also get out. And heredity. Heredity. We're going to do, let's just do it. Let's just buckle down and do it. OK. All right. So yeah, thanks for those questions.
Starting point is 00:49:51 Yeah, that was super fun. Sorry we wouldn't have better answers about the music. is. I highly recommend everybody check out Farrow Monsch if you have not he's fucking phenomenal. I think you would really dig him as well. His really great song about cocaine that I've been super into recently. Wonderful and you know how I love cocaine. I love doing blow just like stitches.
