Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 225- Beetlejuice (1988)

Episode Date: April 22, 2019

After last week's harrowing journey into "Hereditary," we decided to lighten it up a little this week with the 1988 horror-adjacent comedy "Beetlejuice." One note: we had mentioned making this a kid-f...riendly (no swearing episode) but...we did not. Sorry, it's explicit. Special topics for your consideration include: Pittsburgh (and national) treasure Michael Keaton, utilizing this film's therapeutic qualities, questionable Halloween costume ideas, "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," consequences for being a grosso and a shocking discovery about the screenwriter of this movie.  Yinz into Tim Burton? Somehow we've only managed to do one other film of his: Episode 106- "Sleepy Hollow." Into Geena Davis?? Check out Episode 103- "The Fly." We've got some stuff to promote this week! First, our sponsor, Squamous Studios-- a design and art studio who create super cool tabletop RPGs, particularly in the horror genre. They'll be running a Kickstarter for their newest game, Arkham Relics Hunt, beginning May 2nd. Go see what they are doing at www.squamousstudios.com Also, wanna see us live? You can catch us at Rate/Review/Subscribe/Imbibe on May 7th, 7pm at Spirit in Pittsburgh. We'll be celebrating the first anniversary of our pals, the Ghoul on Ghoul podcast. They are throwing a party with a bunch of rad PGH podcasts to celebrate, plus dancing with DJ MB of In Bed by Ten Dance Party, a local maker raffle, tarot readings, and more!  Have you seen this one? Starting point is 00:01:13 This is like as good as it gets Tim Burton. In my opinion. Yeah, for sure. Oh, to be fair, to be clear, these are all my opinions. We're doing Beetlejuice this week. Yeah. If you didn't get that, yeah. From Katie's summoning me. Alan, Alan, Alan. See, now you can't talk. I know that's not how it works.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I've gone away. Yes. I'm back in that model of the room we recorded that you have. I don't know why I spend thi thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu these movies have a connection of miniatures. Miniatures and also demons. And also demons. These are like if you want to do like a double feature these would be a great to go with. So was hereditary just like a grim update of Beetlejuice? No I actually have a theory. I think that Beetlejuice is the prequel to Shitz Creek. I think that Deli Adi Deedtz becomes Moir rose in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in a their. Oh. I their. I their. I the that Beetlejuice is the prequel to Shitz Creek. I think that Delia Dietz becomes Moira Rose for sure in the world. God I fucking love Catherine O'Hara.
Starting point is 00:02:13 I think like as far as comedy goes like she is my lady comedy idol. She's so fucking good. She can do like a variety of things like if you look at all like the Christopher Guest movies and just it didn't occur to me until I was an adult how funny she is in home alone. Sure. Like she's so good. She's like untouchable to me. Also weren't we gonna do no cursing because I think I just said how much I fucking love Catherine O'Hara. We hadn't decided what the fuck we were going to do. Well it's out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out. the the the the to to the f. to the f. to to the f. the f. to to to to to the f. the the the the the to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. thi. out kids. You know what I like about that show is that every the end of every season. They couldn't tell if they were getting another season so they did like a series finale at the end of the series finale. And series finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale finale series finale series finale series finale series finale series finale. And the series finale. And the series finale. And the series finale. And then Nick just come back and do it again for another season, which I liked. This season, the fifth one is going to be the final one.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Oh, is it? Yeah, they're done so. Yeah. Yeah. Good show. It is a good show. It's really, it's in my television watching, It's really, yeah. Just in a real human way. Oh God, I love Catherine O'Hara. She can do no wrong. It could turn out that she was
Starting point is 00:03:28 a pedophile. Nope. Nope. Back that up and reverse it and erase it. Sorry. Doing some wrong brings me into something I want to bring up at the beginning of this podcast. Yeah. Jeffrey Jones was busted for child pornography. Yeah. And it didn't hurt his career at all. Oh, it didn't? No, I mean he's still in movies and shit. E. He was in Deadwood. I was gonna say we did a movie with him in it, didn't we? This is our second Jeffrey Jones. I think so, yeah. He said that one about it was a military movie and there were maybe werewolves that wasn't dog soldiers. It was the one with Neil McDonough. And, uh... I don't know who Neil McDonough is.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Yeah, he was, I, it was our second Neil McDonough because Neil McDonough is the dad in, I know who killed me. No, it wasn't Neil McDonough. Ah, fucking forget it. Hold on, I'm going to look up Jeffrey Jones right now. Okay, please do. So I just want to get out of the way that this guy's a gross out. Oh, gross bad. He's a gross bad. It's a bummer that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:32 There aren't punishments for gross bads. Or at least rich bads. Yeah. But Michael Keatonin, that's the one and that's not Neil McDonough is the guy with the weird eyes because Neil McDonough also has weird eyes. And it's a soldier, that's a soldier movie with wherewolves? No, they're just when to go. Right, close enough. Start with the W. It's an animal outside, an animal outside. Ladies and gentlemen if you're cold, they're cold, bring your windigoose and werewolves inside. It's cruel.
Starting point is 00:05:11 This is my favorite movie with Calypso in it. I guess another movie that I'm so excited to hear Calypso music. I think this movie put a Calypso to the mainstream, isn't it? Yeah. This movie, but you know, came out when I was like 14 years old. And, and it, and it, and it was, and it was like, it was like, it, it was like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, and, th, and, the th, and, and, and, the the the the th, and, the the th, and, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thiiiiiiiiiii. And, thiii. And, thi. And, thi, thi, thi, 14 years old, and it was like going to see a major motion picture that had my weird sensibility about the world. Was just like really rewarding in some weird way. Like that era, that peak Tim Burton, like Edward Scissorhands, the Batman movies, this movie.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Pee's Big Adventure. So fucking perfect. We're so like spot on what I wanted my life to be on some level. Just like, weird and quirky and dark. And like, I was a kid who was like focused on dying when I was real young. Like, I'd like, give me panic attacks and stuff. You were Lydia. Yeah, exactly. But like, this movie like, and like, this movie like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th getting into like different like and stuff more morbid things around this age like gave me the
Starting point is 00:06:11 capabilities to deal with that and like cope with it and like so like that sort of just like the blase attitude they have about death in this movie like death is just life who gives a shit. It's the same thing but somewhere else. Yeah yeah and longer and longer and suicides make you a civil servant. But it's just like, oh, Mandy, I was so, it was so like, yeah, it's beautiful. Yeah. Thanks Tim Burton.
Starting point is 00:06:36 You want to see the, my nose fizz movie? Yeah. No, no, no. No, it's just watched it. Actually when I I I I. watch it on Amazon, I just hit the like, I hit Resume, which is wherever, you know, like the, Yeah, yeah, the default button. And it was the end credits because I had very recently just watched it on Amazon. So good. I had hit replayed from the beginning.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Um, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it God. I saw Gina Davis speak at a conference last year. That's right, yeah. And she was today talking about this podcast already. I can't remember if we talked about the podcast or I. R. R. L. Okay. Well, whatever. She was amazing. I was like maybe 15 feet from her. Oh, she was very tall. Yeah. And she was very beautiful. Yeah. And she's. She was very. She was very. She was very to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to talk. And she was talk. And she was talk. And she was talk. And she was talk. She was talk. She was talk talk talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talked talking talking talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk. And she talk talk talk talk talk talk talked talked talked talked talked talked about to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to talked about talked about talked aboutlympic, but yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She talked a lot about like getting into archery, but she also runs like an institute that studies the portrayal of women and girls in film and is hopefully going to do lobbying to change the way that women and girls are portrayed in film. Oh it's fine. What? Come on! Yeah, that's awesome. That's amazing. Now you tell me something you love about this movie. Uh, how hunky Alec Baldwin is? Oh my god. That's another thing I didn't realize until I was an adult.
Starting point is 00:07:50 I was like, oh, Alec Baldwin would. Yeah, super hot. 30 years old in this movie. He's so slim and like excessively hot? Yeah. It's before he blew up like a balloon. Looks like a tire now. I think he's stills thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thu- thu-a thu-a th. thi. thi's thi's thi. thi's th. th. thu-I thu-I th. thu-I th. th. th. thu-I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi. thi. thiau. theeauiiiiiiauuiiauiauuiauuuuuuu. thiauuuu. thi thi thi. thi. threw up like a balloon. Looks like a tire now. I think he's still like an attractive older dude. But he's like, he did that thing like, the kind of John Travolta did the same thing where their face is just keep getting wider and wider. Like, they're not like fat dudes. They're just like their heads just keep getting bigger. I mean, he couldn't be Jack Donahue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, they're, they're, oh, God, they're so fucking good in this movie. They have great chemistry.
Starting point is 00:08:25 They're both great. Oh, yeah. There's a small part of me that wishes it was Jeff Goldblum. That just replies, they reprise their, the fly relationship. He would be, oh, that's probably where I told the story. He would be so weird, that's something I've never said before is that I'm glad Jeff Goldblum wasn't there. But yeah, Alec Baldwin is so like, and it seems like such a, not an Alec Baldwin role in
Starting point is 00:08:57 some level because he was like the hunky dude. Yeah, this guy who just wants to like build a model in his ad. He built that, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thu, thu, th. thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. He, th. He, th. He, th. He, th. He, is, th. He, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is thi, is thi, is thi. thi. to's, is to's, to's, to's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's something, that's something, that's something, thi. thi. thi. thidy guy? Yeah, this guy who just wants to like build a model and his ad, he built a model of the entire town. Why? Why did he do that? Was that his hobby? He, because he ran that store, that store was his. He owned it. Oh, did he's, he's the hard, he's, he's like, oh, yeah. So like, he had a little, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that talking and fuck it. He's like go like some
Starting point is 00:09:25 bitch comes in here with his hair all the way down to his collar one. Hair is his god damn shoulders says give it a trim. Oh my god that's so many old people I know that guy. And then you've got Winona Ryder who is how old in this movie? She would be 16, 16 or 17? Yeah, 16. Yeah, she's a couple years older than I am. 17, yeah. Oh, God, she's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:09:51 She's amazing. She's fantastic. Yeah, and she's like, just like the embodiment of like the Goth girl, like just run amuck. My life is one big, dark room, which is like she's, it's perfect because she's, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, th, thi's, thi's, thi's, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th is a thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thou, thi, thi, thi, thi, thou, thi, thi, thi, thi's, thi life is one big, dark room. Which is, it's like, it's perfect because she's like that, but she's also like the daughter of this rich guy, like, you know what I mean? Like, when you have the ability to beat Goth,
Starting point is 00:10:14 because your parents are rich. The entitlement that comes along with it. Yeah, dude. Yeah. Also, I sort of forgot until watching this again recently how sad it is that they die at the beginning because you only get to know them for like five minutes and then you're sad when they die. Sure. You know? But it's also funny when they die because it's the dog.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Like a corgi. It's not a corgiore, you don't write and I know. Corgis are God's a mistake. But just, yeah, so they go to town and then they run through the covered bridge and hit out the side and they're just teetering and the dog's like, gotta go? Yeah. And they fall in. Ugh, that's so brutal. And Missy was like, how about the windows are open and it's not that deep and it's like,
Starting point is 00:10:54 come on dog, you can't start them going to first of all I want the book handbook for the recently deceased. It just seems like the coolest thing ever. It does seem very cool but also I've heard that it reads like stereo instruction. I have the sticker on my refrigerator not stuck just held up by a beetle juice magnet courtesy. That's right. But when they go to the like waiting room of the damned basically. Oh my god. That reminded me how every f- the the the the the the the the the the the book. I I I I I I I the book. I the book. I the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book the book. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want right. But when they go to the like waiting room of the damned basically. That reminded me how every fucking year I think I want to be Miss Argentina for Halloween and I'll never do it because it's like body paint and I don't I'm known of the time or like he can't sit down. It's also like a little tasteless with the but. Miss Argentina otherwise would be a great cost you. Yeah. Yeah.their their advocate or whatever in the Juno you know you're a case
Starting point is 00:11:49 worker when she's like smoking and the smoke to starts pouring out of the slit in her neck that you don't notice the further first few minutes she's on screen I had knew a kid in high school who had a trick and he would smoke thrown he would yeah he was super gross if I had it I would to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the. th. the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. tre. tre. tre. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. the. the. the. the. the. the. trick and he would smoke through it. He'd put the cigarette in it. Of course he would. Yeah, he was super gross. If I had it I would too. Just to fuck the norms. Yeah, well. I think he's in jail now last I heard. He was friends with my brother, Obs. You know, this movie I saw when I was a little kid. This is not a kid's movie. But I think they made like an animated series and stuff after it and so I they were. And so I. And so I. And so I they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they made made. Yeah like watching it now I'm like oh this was very adult themes and humor and problematic and I did not get a lot of the jokes. No because I think we were still being fed like a steady diet of like Bugs Bunny cartoons which are like just oh yeah I'm just gonna randomly marry you right it's gonna happen the fuck dog well at least I'm still being fed like. Yeah I remember that being so thir thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the thi this thi this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. theeeeeeeee. theeeeeeeee. theeeeeeeee going to randomly marry you. Starting point is 00:12:50 to marry them. Yeah. It turns out of this, it's really terrifying. Yeah, it's really fucked up thing. It's super bad. Don't do that. builds a tiny model of their funeral. Yeah, he's like trying to figure out where the best spot for their grave site would be because they don't know because they can't go see it because of the sandworms, which I will say is like
Starting point is 00:13:11 the when they step off the porch is like the only bad part of this movie, is like how bad that green screen looks. Yeah, Saturn doesn't look so hot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But. But. But. But the same. But the same. But the same. But the same. But the same. But the same. the same. That's crazy. It's insane. That's crazy. Tim Burton also wanted it to look kind of hokey. I don't think it does. It doesn't it doesn't. It's definitely like campy. Sure. Like the guy who has been like burnt to death, sitting there smoking and he's just like a little hot dog man. Yeah it doesn't but that doesn't look like shoddy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It. It the the the the to. It's to to the to to be kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the. the. the. the. the. the the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. to.'s only, but that doesn't look cheap though. He doesn't look like shoddy. Yeah. Yeah, it just looks kind of campy and silly.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Yeah. Or the guy who said his head shrunk. I love that guy. I remember I think I had, I may have had an action figure of that guy. He didn't, I don't's the shrunken head guy. That's so sad and I don't have any friends. You're my friend now potato. Help!
Starting point is 00:14:12 I was Lydia Deeds but without the bangs or the cool clothes and I just had a potato as a friend. So, thaugh. And also, like, every morning she made them into those little peaks. Yeah, it's a lot a lot. Yeah. I'm even. Yeah. There's that level of gotthe that's just like, come on dog. You got to be somewhere sometime. Right. It's a commitment. I appreciate it. I appreciate the commitment. You're doing it. And she was like on her phone waiting for a bus. And I was like, fuck it. That's your thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:48 We all have our things. I don't have that commitment. I just put on fucking t-shirt and pants and go. I'm too tired. Yeah. about one of the greatest things in this movie. All of it, everything, 10. How fucking funny Michael Katen is. He's so good. And a lot of the, like, the scenes when he's in the model are all one take, or all one cut, you know what I mean? He does those monologues. They do not cut away and he's just like riling himself up to this like peak insanity in a way that I think Nicholas Cage wishes he could but. for yeah I did watch that movie Mandy recently oh yeah yeah you were telling me
Starting point is 00:15:30 it's real bonkers yeah it's real crazy it was good though it was good it was good it's just real crazy yeah I want to know how much of that was ad-lived if he was just like I'm gonna go ape and we'll see what happens I don't know it's really fucking funny. Nice fucking model. He makes the jack off hand. Yeah, he grabs his dick at them. Hoxolugia, he's also a sex pest.
Starting point is 00:15:56 He is a sex pest. But like, somehow it doesn't bother you for some reason. Like he's lifting up Gina Davis's dress with a stick. And you're like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, thi, he, th, thi, he, thi, thi, th. he, th. he's he's, he's the they, he's he's he's he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's th. He's th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. He's like, he's like, he's like, he's like Like he's lifting up Gina Davis's dress with a stick and you're like, ha ha, that beetle's like, that's not okay. I was laughing and miss, he's like, he's a sex best and I was like, yeah. Oh, now we're part of the problem. I just like got grandfathered in in my brain. It's true. That's funny, right? No, it's not. But yes it is. He's doing it funny anyway. What do you think of Delia's art or sculptures? Oh, they're amazing. Yeah, I wish I had them. Why don't other people like them?
Starting point is 00:16:30 Do you think? I feel like Otho's, or not Otho. I feel like Dick Cabot is just a bad. A bad agent. Yeah, bad agent. But I love that he's in this movie. I love Dick Cabot. Yeah. the best. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, thi. Oh, th best talk show ever. Like, tell me about it. He said this talk show in like the late 60s, early 70s, that he would have like James Baldwin and like some dude who like worked in the government and they would talk about white supremacy.
Starting point is 00:16:54 And it was just like, I don't agree with you. I don't agree with you either. Cigarette. intellectual conversations that would happen and like it was really and then like there'd be a Gabor sister sitting next to him and you're just like what's going on? I don't know I love this. Oh wow. This is a real weird show is good. That is sounds good. Yeah. Yeah the people who come to I guess so kids aren't gonna know who Robert Goulets I barely I only know who rubber Goulets from like the S&L skits I was gonna ask you yeah and then I would like I like looked up who he was and then I was like oh that guy it's one of the funniest fucking what he's got I think it was JZ was on and he's in like the back of a Caddalaq and he's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to go I'm I'm I'm I was I was the to go to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. the the the the the the the the the's in like the back of a Cadillac with one of his friends like one of his entourage Yeah and somebody slides a goat onto the stage and the guy goes a white donkey I was just like what how did you get from there to there I don't know I don't know they were off
Starting point is 00:17:56 the smoking weed on stage so yeah it was a good time sure sure yeah Robert Gulae like yeah who's got to recognize that dude it was so funny but it was like this this this this this this this this this this this th a th a th. th. he. the he. he. he. he. He he. He. He. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. I I I I. I. I. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's like. He. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He? It was so funny. But it was like, this is Tim Burton's like, I'm making a movie. I'm gonna put fucking Dick Kevin Robert Gley in it. He had just had such a critical success with Peewee's Big Adventure. Does that movie good? Kids liked it? Kids liked it.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Everybody liked it. I'm more of a big tapy tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap. tap. to big tap. tap. tap. to big to big to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to fucking. to fucking. to fucking. to fucking. to fucking. to fucking. tick. tick, I. tick, I tick, I tick, I tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, to to to I've got your thing of her, I like the sequel that is, no, I tell. You don't like her as one of the Piccola Puy Puy movies. Yeah, that's a movie. Yeah, that's a movie. I've seen a whole bunch too. I'm sure. Is There are no Tim Burtony aspects to it if that's... No. And there are even some like stylistic similarities other than just Tim Burton's stuff,
Starting point is 00:18:50 like the hallway where they are walking through, when they go, they draw a door and they go through in the guy the death for the dead, keep moving. That hallway is like the same hallway that's in the clown scene of Pew's Big Adventure. Because Tim Burton was like, I love those black and white hallways. This twilight zoney. With like bad geometry architecture. Yeah. Oh man, such a good aesthetic.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Yeah. But then he kind of took it too far. Sure. Yeah. I was just like, as up with all things, we always take it too far. Somebody takes the governor off of it and just like let it go and you're like, well, it was better when it was restraint. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Um, when there were no people involved in his life, and people like, maybe don't do that. And now they're just like, whatever, make Alice. thi. that's like, thi. th. th. th. thi. that. thi. thi. thi. that. thi. thi. thi. that. that. thi. thi. that. thi. that. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It was, th. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. It was. W. It was. W. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. of Johnny Depp? Too many Johnny Depps. Too many Johnny Debs. Yeah, I think maybe that was his downfall. Too many Johnny Depps. It did really well in Edward Scissor Hands. Oh my God, the end of it.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Yeah. One the one, Nona. My nona always said that Johnny DeppIP. Nona. Oh Johnny. How dare you? They're both still alive. Prove to me the Johnny Depp is alive. Proof to me that your nonna is alive. That's harsh dude. No. 95 this year. So excited. That's amazing. Yeah, it's gonna be cool. I don't think she gives a shit. The thing is, Johnny Depp isn't making good movies anymore, so it's like, what is not, I don't know what is holding her on. She's just watching what's eating Gilbert grape over and over and just like, you know, I don't know. What if that's her peak dip?
Starting point is 00:20:43 I mean, he's peak handsome in that movie. Sure, yeah. Sure. And Julie at Lewis. So you know, they die, the new Dietzz's move in. They want to get Beetlejuice to get him out. I thought the end scene in this movie was so much longer, like that climactic scene. It's really short. It's really fast which I think is good because the movie doesn't feel anti-climactic.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Right. Which I think it's nicely done. Yeah. In that end scene where they're in the wedding clothes and aging and like turning to dust is so sad. It's deeply sad. Yeah when he's like trying to hold her hand and just crumbling. And then the shoe falls off her foot. Oh, I can't with it. It's so sad. It is. And also the foot is very funny looking. Oh yeah, for sure. I mean, her wrinkles are extremely funny looking also.
Starting point is 00:21:32 But I, and I also remember being very disturbed by the throwing of the metal plate over her mouth. I remember being like, small child. Last week. Yes, yesterday when I watched it. I still find the shrimp cocktail hands upsetting. Oh, that's so good. Oh, my god, it's so good. Because the sea, like the buildup to it,
Starting point is 00:21:57 where they're doing like the singing the deos on. And it's like, this is cute this is funny and then those hands come out was like yeah that's upsetting it's really upsetting it's really upsetting they're like a big big crab legs yeah at Pittsburgh Riverhounds games they play the day oh thing and try to get people to like respond call and response it and people are like damn it's like not a very good crowd engager and they do it anyway sure yeah they pay it for the right to th th the th the the the the the the th the the the th the the the th. the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. th. th. th. that's the the that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. they the. they they they're they're they're they're the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. they're the. they're they do it anyway. Sure. Yeah, they paid for the rights of that song they're gonna use them. Throw that song at the wall until it sticks. How much do you think it costs to get the rights for that song? Oh the Belafonte's men they're not gonna give it to you cheap and that's fair. And I also love like, because of they they the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're because because because because because they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they paid. They they paid. They they paid. They they paid. They they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to a generation of kids I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Yeah. And I also love like, so they're dancing around the table to the Calypso music and they all start butt dancing and I was like, you got Dick Cavett to do a weird butt dance. I love how they're all turned around looking at their butts like, why is my butt doing that? It's a lot less funny. What are your thoughts on Otho? Oh, I love him. I love him.
Starting point is 00:23:11 And I love when Beetleju grabs him and says something like not so fast, round boy. It's having a leisure soon. Yes, and then that is like his horror and that's the last time you see him, isn't it? Yeah, he goes, he runs away. I love Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia Lydia. Yeah. I love Lydia trying to write a suicide note. It's so teen. It's like so perfectly teen girl. It's hard to believe this was written by like a middle-aged man. This just isn't angsty enough. No. Utterly alone. Jumped, plummeted. I love the idea of scratching out in your suicide. Not starting over.
Starting point is 00:23:50 No, you get one. That's surprising. When Charles Dietz is trying to sell the town as like putting a museum and all that stuff in it. But doesn't you pitch an insect zoo? Is that a real thing? No. Like a flea circus? I mean, there's like you can go and look at bugs. But no one wants to. It's like the part of the Carnegie Museum that you can just like walk by real quick
Starting point is 00:24:16 because nobody's standing there. You know what I mean? I tried going to like their interactive insect exhibit and I was like, thii. thi. the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. they's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they. I. I'm, they. I'm, they. I'm, like, they. I'm, like, like, like, they. I'm like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like was like, wait, this is for five year olds I gonna leave. Are you talking about the reptiles? No, no, no, it was like an insect one a couple years ago. They just, they just did a live reptiles one and it was very scary. Oh really? Yeah, a lot of snakes. Not into them. Did you get a handful of them and run out of a smoking room? Yes. But so he's trying to sell this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this thi thi thi thi thi. T thi. T the the the idea the idea thi. T the the their their their their their their their their their their their their they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're they're they're they're. I. I. I's they're they're they's trying to sell this idea of the town and its museums. And he's like, oh, and that guy, he's the one who gave us the talking Marceau, Marceau. Yeah. And I was like, that guy's a mime. That's funny. Oh, I didn't get it.
Starting point is 00:24:54 I just laughed. It's a good joke for nobody. It's a good joke for you, apparently. Can we talk about our favorite minor characters in this movie? I love the football team. Just keep calling her coach for no reason. I love the idea of calling people coach when they aren't. That's very funny to me. That's good comedy. That's high comedy.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Do you think? It is except that I had this jacket when I was younger that people decided that I looked like a football coach. You were like Craig teen Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson Nelson the the their their their their coach and you were called me coach for a while. And you were like Craig T. Nelson's a very attractive man. No, I don't think I'd uh, I was okay with myself enough to admit that. No, no, no, no, no. Now I am. At 45, I can, I can say Craig T Nelson would at that time. At that time. The time of Poultry Geist, anyway. The time of Foulter Gist.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Who else is your favorite minor character? Or is that just your, the footballsman? That's one. I mean, I can go through them. I love the minister who shows up at the end. He's like, where did he come from? And what is he? I don't know why does he talk like this? For some reason I really love the guy with a bone in his neck. Oh, okay. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah. He's just kind of like, eh.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I also really like the... That's the Lost Souls Room. Oh, yeah, yeah. Because he reminds me of my Uncle Frank. Yeah, yeah. Not that Uncle Frank. Not come to daddy, Uncle Frank. He, uh, I also love the scuba swimming guy with a shark still on his leg. Yeah, it's so silly. Why does that shark have to die too?
Starting point is 00:26:35 Oh, because he probably got pulled on the land. And they were like, we can't detach him, so we'll just have to bury him like. the shark. the shark, we th th thto be buried with the shark like you and that shark for all eternity and a really giant casket? I like it you got a buddy with you for all eternity. But he killed you. He's a bad guy and you're you're the hero of the story. As we know death is not that bad. I don't know I feel like if you a shark attached you're like to be that bad because it's just you you you it's just you you it's just you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the you you you the you the to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be the to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their their their their their toe. their toe. the be that bad because it's just going to be hard to get around, you know? It's true. But you're buried together, so. Yeah. Do you like the feeling a little flat guy?
Starting point is 00:27:12 How am I looking good? Feel a little flat? Can I tell you something? I'd love for you to tell me something. At, let's see what this movie came out in what, 88? I've seen a million times. This was the first time that I realized the woman who's in two different parts was the assistant to a magician that had been sold in half. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:27:36 Yeah. That's funny. I was like, oh, taken up that whole couch. Why was she on both ends of it? You know what I mean? You know what I mean? Sit next to your upper body. No, I mean, like, because he's sitting between the parts, you know, like she's the one who sat down bad. It's like when you go to an airport, wait, to one another. That's what I thought about that lady. She like couldn't even be like close to her own legs.
Starting point is 00:28:06 The one urinal rule from their legs. Yeah, I guess so. Guys can't pee next to each other because you're looking at them dicks. Yeah, they're looking at people's diarray. You look at people's people's diurnals? No, but other people are definitely are definitely are definitely are definitely are definitely are definitely are definitely are definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely are definitely definitely are definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely are definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely definitely. they are definitely. they are definitely. they're definitely. they're just holding them for a friend. Just holding their... No, but someone told me about it. Am I holding the dick for a friend? Just holding this for a friend. I'm just holding my own dick for my friend. Is that okay?
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah. I love like the, just the color schemes in the afterlife as well like the everything just like the purples and blues and all of the like the administrative assistants who are not skeletons they all have like the sort of the same look about them with like the like luminous kind of skin and dark eyes like under eye and then like a brightly colored wig and I think they all look so good. They look a lot like Miss Argentina. I just feel like it's such a great aesthetic. Yeah, she's a, she's Sassay and Sassay and I enjoy that. Yeah, and also just like, I feel like every time I go to a doctor they treat me like that. I feel like touch screens are making the doctor's avoidments even worse. Oh man, I don't like so, they have one of those my dermatologist. I'm like like thian like th. thian like thian like thian like thian like thian like thian like the thian like thian like the like th. thian like thi thi they thi, I'm like thi, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I don't like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I don't like, I don't like, I don't like, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, like, I feel like, like, like, I feel like, like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I'm like, I'm like all these people have skin conditions. I want to
Starting point is 00:29:25 touch it. It seems like a bad place to use one, don't you think? You think there should just be like a wet nap over the screen? Yeah, it should have like a squeegee next to it. The throw-off line? Thank God you didn't die in Italy? I love that because everyone's always yelling. Imagine if you had to live with an Italian family, that's the joke. Because he's, it's just like, it seems, it seems pretty quiet here. Thank God you didn't die in Italy because Italian people would be yelling up that house. That's a fucking good joke.
Starting point is 00:30:00 I know. I know. Man, there's so many old people jokes in this movie. Tim Burton, you're an old soul. He didn't write this though. This was written by Michael McDowell. He was a novelist who wrote a lot of southern gothic horror according to Wikipedia. That's right.
Starting point is 00:30:19 I don't know if he wrote any other movies. Did he? That would be weird if this was your... That's pre-writing credits. Your one-off movie? He wrote some of the segments from Tales from the Dark Side. Okay. He wrote The Nightmare Before Christmas. Oh, that's pretty good. He wrote...
Starting point is 00:30:37 Are you ready? I think so? The screenplay for Finner. That was his last work. He died. He died three years later. Oh no. Yeah. That was his, his, his. That pivotal blowjob scene was his last work. I mean, I have to believe Stephen Kang wrote that blowjob scene in his heart of hearts. But Michael McDowell, yeah, adapted it. Wow. Mm-hmm. God bless McDowell, yeah, adapted it. Wow.
Starting point is 00:31:05 God bless. Mm-hmm. Oh. Speaking of things that have gone away that people probably wouldn't recognize anymore, Beatle just multiple times does a Jackie Mason impression in this movie? Yeah, right? Like, I feel like no one would, I mean, it's so funny without a reference. But like, and that, I almost wonder is at a, their, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to, to, but like, and that I almost wonder is ad living.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Oh, I think so for sure. Like I figure anytime he's doing a voice, he's fucking around. Yeah, I guess so. Like the whole like dressed up like a cowboy thing that he's doing. Yeah, he's doing the like, I'll do anything that you want me to do. Like what? You think that they like presented that to Michael Keaton like here's what we need you to do or you think he was just on a bunch of blow I don't was he a blowboy I don't know but I feel like you'd have to be to be beetle juice true blow boy should I Google Michael Keaton cocaine I mean he made it through the 80s he had to have done cocaine film boards dot com was Michael Keaton it's asking about beetle to maximum overdrive.
Starting point is 00:32:06 The movie that supposedly Stephen King does not remember, either doesn't remember writing the story or doesn't remember directing the movie because he was on so much cocaine. What is it about? Maximum Overdrive? Yeah. Uh, machines become animate and start killing off humans? Christine? Well, like there's this giant Mac trucks are running people over? No, please, please, please, please, please, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thiiiiiiiiiii thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thiiiia??? thiauiau thiau thiau thi thi thi thi thi like, there's this giant, like, Mac trucks
Starting point is 00:32:26 are running people over. Oh, no, please don't make me do this. It starts Amelia West of us. OK. There was a long period in my life where Amelia West of us was like my dream man. Oh, sure. So hunky. It's all repo man.
Starting point is 00:32:41 More like mighty ducks, they're men at work. And more like Mighty Ducks, but yeah. I don't know what that is. Yeah, me either. Men at work. With, with his brother, the lesser estabas. Less to this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, or the breakfast club?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Mm-hmm. Where you talks about to even that guy's butt cheeks together? And then he cries. It's so bad when the the the the worst part of the movie. Oh man. Oh my god, what a wonderful world. I just went all Lou Yarm strung on me. I mean, there's not much to say about the plot or the outcome or anything of this movie. It's just beautiful.
Starting point is 00:33:18 It's just perfect. It's wonderful. Visually stunning. Visually stuiting. The beetle is what he gets conjured up at the end and he comes out as a carousel. Yeah. So cool looking. With the test of strength, arm hammers that like blow Maxi Dean and his wife into the ceiling.
Starting point is 00:33:38 And then they're never heard from again. I like that that's how they get rid of everybody. But the family the family is the family is the family is the family is the family is the family is the family is the family is just this like they get thrown through the ceiling like Otho gets a leisure suit and runs away like what do you think? Because nobody dies there are no kills in this movie. I mean people die but there aren't like Beetlejuice doesn't murder anybody. No he just humiliates humiliates them into leaving the room which like happens to me every day. It's just your drunk un uncle that shows up it makes everyone leave. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. theee. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. tho. tho. tho. tho. th It's just your drunk uncle that shows up and makes everyone leave. So what do you think the living arrangement is after? We were, Rob and I were actually talking about this.
Starting point is 00:34:11 I think that they, it's a very big house as we're told. Okay, first of all, I want to talk about the friend who's saying that they should sell their house because they don't have a child......... So. So. So. So. So, to to to to told. It. It's, told. It's, told, they, told, their, their, told, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, thi. thi. thi. to to thi. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. the. their, their, their, their, their, their, their house because they don't have a child when it's clear that they've like lost a pregnancy. Yeah, she's a monster. She's a monster and they should have set her on fire. She's not a good friend. Not a good friend and she doesn't get it. I hate her. I didn't realize until... Jane Butterfield. I didn't realize until like watching this movie is an adult, that she is a terrible person. Yeah, when it's kind of revealed that she's their friend, I was like, ugh, ugh. Yeah. But anyway, we do know that it's a very big house.
Starting point is 00:34:51 So I think they probably hang out in the attic and they get like a bedroom or something. And they don't have to eat or poop, do they? I don't know. I mean, slime was always eaten. I was eating all of them hot dogs. Do you think slimer and Gina Davis and Alec Baldwin all live on the same plane of existence? For sure.
Starting point is 00:35:17 What is slimmer? Why is he like that? I liked hot dogs a lot. No, but why is he slimy? That's what happens if you eat too many hot dogs. You get slimy, you become a slimy boy. I'm a slime boy. So they never explain why slime or slimmer? No. Okay, just wondered. Well, I saw most every other ghost just looks like a person.
Starting point is 00:35:37 He's like a weird lump of something. King Boo from the Mario franchise. Okay, yeah. Yeah. With his tongue-all hanging out. Beating hot dogs. I can go for a hot dog and I don't know why. Because like people do still contrar it into existence in your brain. Yeah. I just like, I was like, well, what is the? Because they seem to like, the living family, the Dietz's, seem to just be like, how those dead people are doing a better job raising our daughter, so fuck it.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Yeah, I mean, it does seem like they've given up on her and just figured, and I guess that's sort of the emotional crux of the story, too, is it like Barbara really wants to be a mother, and she wasn't able to, for you know, whatever reason whether she had a miscarriage or what, and then she dies so she's not going to get to but now she has Lydia as and she can be a mother figure to Lydia which is very sweet. But like, why are they doing her homework with her? I don't know. And I guess they are better parents if you had to choose. Sure. You know, I think Jeffrey Jones. Oh, fuck that guy. I would choose. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She, th. She's th. She's th. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's that guy. Yeah. I would choose Mora, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:46 She's really terrible to Alexis. She is, but she comes around, right? Just because she doesn't know Alexis's middle name. Sorry, guys, go watch Shit Creek. It's really good. I love this, the episode where David isn't available for lunch, and Alexis is like, um, you didn't even ask me and then they have a very awkward lunch together. Yeah. Oh, it's so fucking funny.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Oh, my god, it's so good. I love it so much. Katie. Alan. It seems like blasphemy. But do you want to rate Beetlechuse? Yeah, 10. I mean, I said it like this is the third th th th th th th th th th th third th th third thi thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thi thi. I have nothing else to say. Out of the park. Yeah. Is it the best movie we've ever done?
Starting point is 00:37:40 Or does it just feel that way because we watched it after hereditary? Is it the best thing I've ever seen? Is this a warm hug of a movie? It is absolutely a warm hug of a movie. It really and truly is. Yeah. Oh God. What about you? Give it a 10? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Okay. Just me to be his the podcast John Shurtino. John of Jeopardy fame? John of Jeopardy fame? You guys might know him as Jeopardy John. J. J. J. Which will be his name forever forward. He's like so you're just gonna come out of the gates and yelling that it's a perfect 10 movie and then you can talk about it afterwards. Derek, thank you so much for the kind words. There's the reason we haven't done Halloween is because How do you do it?
Starting point is 00:39:25 Like it's also pretty much a perfect movie, right? But it's perfect in a way that's much different than Beetlejuice where it's difficult to talk about how good it is because It just is I don't even know I can't even how you make jokes about that movie. It's sure. We're a very jokey. Yeah, we make the yuck yucks. I don't think I mean. I don't. I don't. I don't. Yeah, maybe, maybe we'll put it on the docket, maybe you're on Halloween. We'll try to knock that fuck around? Maybe. Or we'll just do Halloween to a dog. No, no, I need brain cells. Whob, whob. Whob.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Oh, why does it do that? Because your brain cells dying. I remember literally doing whipts in my dorm room in college and then crawling under my desk to try to find out where the womp-womp sound was coming from. Turns out it was the friends we made all along. Katie. Alan. While we're still in mail bag, again, we put out a request for questions. Because we're just like so narcissistic these days, and I'm really loving every moment of it.
Starting point is 00:40:31 And the response that we've gotten has just been unbelievably great. I love everybody. You guys are so fun. I'm going to watch Ponnypool all the way through you fucking Fox? I ask the same question of the guest that that week, Joseph, I don't know and sorry. Thanks Jay Aaron for that question. That made me laugh. Did you call us fucking Fox? I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:40:59 We call you names. You do not call us names. We deserve it. You can't flip the script. We deserve a lot of things we've done but also Pontypool is like low on the list of things. We deserve to be yelled at for is. Yeah, did you watch that fucking curse the Confederate Confederates? I don't think anybody watched that movie. Except you me and Rob. God damn it. Damn it. to damn. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. to. Rob. Rob. to ask. Rob. to. Rob. to. to. Rob. to. This one's from Instagram. Instagram asks us a question? Wow, we've hit the big time. Why now? Dear Instagram.
Starting point is 00:41:29 This is from Porcelain Skylines on Instagram. Cool. What would Katie do if I snuck a horse to her house? Jokes on you. It's not going to fit through the front door. What the fuck do I live in a barn? Next question. Also, how do you sneak a horse anywhere? What are you just gonna like, put a blanket over it and pretend it's like a baby you're bringing in? Like, get out of here with that shit.
Starting point is 00:41:52 Hey, I'm just going upstairs. All right, this is a serious question. And we'll end up this one. If you could have any horror movie creature as a pet. Which one would you pick? Gizmo. That was my fucking response. I'm sorry I didn't mean to step on you. Oh no of course how would you? I mean that's the only option. I mean that's the only option. I think the fucking alien from the critters from. They're gonna eat you. They're gonna eat you. They're gonna eat. Yeah, yeah. I'm kind of. Yeah, I'm gonna eat. they're gonna. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Starting point is 00:42:28 No. No, you shouldn't. No, the monkey from Monkey Shines? Just holding a knife in its teeth or something. Hmm, yeah, jaws? Yeah, Jolls. Yeah, I would have just likeaken the fucking dog to the vet. Yeah, it's true. You'd be a much better Kujo owner. Kujo would have just like died after a long happy life living out his years and his golden
Starting point is 00:42:51 age. They wouldn't be running around getting bit by that's. Oh my god. I think Gizmo's the only real answer. Oh, oh, oh, Keano Reeves and Bram and so gross Dracula. I just want to put him in a cage and be like, what's you doing? Not a British accent. Oh, man. That's a fun question.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Thanks for those. Yes, thank you everyone who asked this question. Oh, I didn't give out who answered or who asked that question. That question was asked by First Defender Ghost? Why not? Three words that make a phrase. Thank you first Defender Ghost. So yeah, send in questions. We like answering questions. This is fun, yeah.
