Starting point is 00:00:00 When you and everyone said how bonkers this movie was, this is not what I thought you meant. This is not what I expected. Did you expect like Big Top Peawe crazy? I expected Wickerman crazy. I expected that Nicholas Cage. That Nicholas Cage. This is not what I expected big t peewe crazy? I expected wicker man crazy. I expected that Nicholas Cage. Psychological torture crazy. No! He goes into it basically once where he's like you wrote my shirt, you're my shirt! And I was expecting that, not what I got. So there's a news story in, I think it's in West Mifflin a woman got drunk and was in a Walmart and Pissed in a box of potatoes
Starting point is 00:00:52 Yeah, that sounds like West Mifflin. And I was just like in a world where Amanda exists and the current political climate Yeah, we're not pissing a fucking box of potatoes. You know what? Like, what else do you have? You know, what else is there? It's just where we are in 2019. It's where we are in 2019. I feel, for some reason this movie is just like, it's so fucking bonkers. What? I just did not expect this bonkers. This is not the bonkers I was looking for. Oh, what movie are we doing? Oh, Mandy, you said it. Oh, did I.
Starting point is 00:01:25 And you came, and you gave me a headache. I thought you were gonna go with Andy. They go with the rhyme. This is by Panos Cosmitos. How have I never thought of you gave me a handy in my life? Is you not a filth pig like I am? Fair. I'm kind of am. I know.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Panos Cosmatos. It's a fucking great name. It is. And he lets you know that's his name a whole bunch of times in the credits. Well, his name does not appear until the end credits. Really? No, that's not true. It's a bunch of the first. of it. Oh it's just written by it doesn't say directed by until I'm sorry and and he wasn't sure he was going to take it on. I might Ellen Smithy this shit and
Starting point is 00:02:11 the the title card for this movie doesn't show up until 75 minutes into the movie so but there are other card title cards and there's also it opens on like that quote from someone's aim profile. You know what I'm talking about? I do. I wrote it down. When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, wrap some headphones around my head and rock and roll me when I'm dead. That's such an aim profile, or that's an away message I think. It is the final words of Douglas Roberts, who is a convicted kidnapper, robber, and murderer,
Starting point is 00:02:47 who was executed in Texas in 2005. Forget it! Forget I said that! It's not Julianna theory lyrics. Have you heard the new Eve Six? I saw Eve Six not long ago. Did you have a time machine? No. I live in Pittsburgh. It you have a time machine? No.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I live in Pittsburgh. It's basically a time machine. They were on tour with Deep Blue Something. Uh, they were on tour with Everclear. Okay. And, um, Soul Asylum. And, uh, what's the band? Spacehog.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Okay. Yeah. It was a while ago now that I think about it. It's fine. So yeah, that's it's a weird quote to start this movie. And it has nothing to do with anything. It's not thematic of anything. See, I think it sets the tone for this because I will now make the argument that this is one of the most heavy metal movies of all time. Okay. Like written by a 12 year old boy. Who's like, even like the super gross stuff that's happening in this movie? Like why is ADA Michael Cutter showing me his penis?
Starting point is 00:03:55 Is that one of the things? Why is he angrily masturbating? Ugh, so weird. Imagine just jerking off to someone laughing at you. That's so bleak. Yeah, and crying while you're jerking off while someone's laughing at you. Actually, that sounds like junior high. Uh-huh. Um, but there's the guy who's got a knife
Starting point is 00:04:19 where his wang should be at one point in this movie? Oh, I miss that. And this is like, whoa, it it it it it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, th, th, to be, just, to be, just just just just just just, just, just, just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just, just, just, to be just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just, to be just, to be just just just, to be just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just, to be to be to be to be th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi. th point in this movie. Oh I miss that. And this is like, whoa, it would be totally fucking brutal. If the guy just had like a knife where his ding-dong should be, that'd be totally brutal. He's weener. That's better. How did I miss a knife dick? Who had a knife dick? The guy who is watching porn and maybe sexually assaulting someone though you can't th. th. the. Maybe with the knife dick. Same said knife to. I think I missed a lot in
Starting point is 00:04:50 this movie and I tried really hard. I tried really hard to focus. Did you do a mountain of cocaine before you watched this movie? No, but I did smoke a little too much weed. Because I thought this was going to be funny. I was like this is very intense for what I'm doing right now. This is not funny. No. It's kind of funny. No. Funny shit that happens in this movie. I mean maybe. Well like other things like according to IMDB which is just rife with lies. The big axe thing that he forges. Yeah, cuz he could smell. Of course he can smell. And has the equipment to do so. Yeah. Yeah. It's supposedly the shave of it is based on the logo for the metal band Celtic Frost. Oh, okay. And like, you know, it's just, it's so fucking ridiculous. Like everyone's like, who would if it just like motor so guys with like knives or males coming out of them and like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:45 It's so silly. When they showed up, I was shocked. Yeah. And I still don't know, were they, what are they? Are they demons? Is anything supernatural in this or is it all just drug induced? Yes. Both.
Starting point is 00:05:57 I think it'siger makes LSD. And the bikers did him dirty. So he made them like a super batch of LSD that fried their brains and made them into centibytes basically. I thought that was about ADA Michael Cutter. I don't know, Jeremiah and his family. ADA, Michael Cutter. Yeah, he's from fucking the late seasons of law and order.
Starting point is 00:06:31 He's the assistant district attorney and I cannot believe I had to see his penis. He's Batman's dad and the Christopher Nolan Batman. Oh really? Good for him. He's in a, uh, Linus Roach. He's in a bunch of stuff. . He's in later seasons of Vikings and stuff. Oh, okay. Well, I guess he's doing a lot of things. Maybe Michael Cutter is the, it's the outlier in his acting career.
Starting point is 00:06:53 But that's what I know him from, you know what I mean? I love your, uh, I fucking love law and order. I love your, uh, six degrees of law and order. Everyone has been on long order at some point. Oh, yeah. Plus it starts off of the fucking King Crimson song. Yeah, that surprised me. Yeah. But it's off the album Red and Nicholas Cage's character is named Red. And it's Starless and all about space and Bible Black and Blah-blah-blah. The whole score to this movie I thought was excellent.
Starting point is 00:07:18 So it's scored by my favorite composer, Johann Johansson. Mogwai? It all sounds like Magui to me. It does. It's him and... Oh, he died. He died before this movie got made or whatever. Yeah, before he came out and I was super sad. Yeah. He overdosed on cocaine.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Yeah. What a way to go. Yeah. Just kidding, guys don't do that. It's him and, oh, Stephen O'Malley from the band's son. And yeah, it does sound like droney or mogwye, but I love his stuff, like it's really fantastic. How to get real sad sometimes that he's dead. I'm sorry. Oh, it's fine.
Starting point is 00:07:56 You didn't do it? What? I made him a bad batch. So I watched this movie on my laptop because I was using your shutter account. Okay. And my laptop is, the sound is very, very bad. So I had to wear headphones to watch this movie, which was very, very intense. Yeah. It was more than I needed, I would say.
Starting point is 00:08:17 But the score sounded great. Yeah, for sure. And it's very, the, the sound design is very visceral to this. Like you're here and all the splurts and cracks. And it was like going, it was in, what's it called when there's things in, happening one year or not the other? Panning back and forth, yeah. It was very weird. Sure.
Starting point is 00:08:34 So this is the movie about a lumberjack and a fantasy artist. Mm-hmm. thi the the the the thi. And a thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's is th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, like, what. It's like, what. It's like, what. the. It's like. It's like. It's eyebrows. That sometimes does. And sometimes is Judy Greer. Did you notice that? And how much she looks like Linus Roach? Yeah. Yeah, when in that scene, were they cutting back and forth? I couldn't tell sometimes. I was like, I'm very high, but this is confusing.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Well, they would like, pan between their faces. And like, their mouth was open some. thuuuuuuse. And you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and to, and, and, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, toe, toe, toe, toe, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. And, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And like, sometimes her mouth was covering his mouth, but her mouth was open some and you could still see his mouth moving. That's what, it was weirding me out quite a bit. Yeah. Also, every, not everybody, but a lot of the people in Linus Roaches' gang look like him. They were all interesting looking people. But they all had like very longer angular noses and they all had like they just kind of had a vott they all had kind of bug-eyes they all were bug-eyed for sure the two men with the like
Starting point is 00:09:30 short hair on top long hair on the back and sides were very disconcerting party in the front party in the rear I mean it didn't help that they were constantly just like front teeth forward for everything. They were like cartooned yokels. So, Red and Mandy, the titular Mandy, live in this impossible to heat in the wintertime house in these shadow mountains. And they're just sleeping outside sometimes, which seems very buggy. I would never do that.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Mandy gets abducted by a Manson-esque cult, because the Manson-esque Jeremiah Sands. ADA Michael Cutter. It's way into her, seeing her on the street. I promise I'll never say it again. Oh, assistant district attorney. Yeah. Okay, gotcha. Oh, yeah. He works for Jack McCoy, the district attorney. Yeah. Okay, got you.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Oh yeah. He works for Jack McCoy, the district attorney. They prosecute the offenders. Mandy, when being abducted, it gets super high. They drop LSD into her eyeball. And she laughs at Jeremiah Sands music, and then he kills her and then it turns into her revenge movie. What was that buggy thing on her neck? Oh, that was the was the was stung her?
Starting point is 00:10:52 It was giant. Yeah. And they're really... Is that a real thing? I don't think so? Why did they let it sting? Like what it was? like extra psychedelic stuff to her. That's silly. It's extremely silly. Yeah, but there's like, that's what I mean like this movie is funny.
Starting point is 00:11:10 There's like funny weird shit that happens. But then it's like, it's wrapped up in a cocoon of awful. It does not put you in a headspace to laugh, I felt. Have you seen this guy's other movie Beyond the Black Rainbow? I have not. It's the exact same color scheme of this movie. Okay. It's very bright and vibrant and it's very 80s, synth score and the whole movie is basically like a psychiatrist and a woman in a room talking to each other and she has some kind of psychic powers. And then there's a flip that happens at the end. Is it good? I hate
Starting point is 00:11:45 it. Okay. I actually avoided Mandy for a long time because I hated that movie so much. And I was like, I'm gonna fucking watch it. I did. I'm like, I'm gonna fucking watch it. I did. Um, the red light is on. Did you not put the red light on? I did. The recording? the recording side. She's a dick. So rude. the ri. the r. the ri. th. the recording. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi, the thi, the the the th. thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. She's a dick. So rude. Just like, we're trying to be professional. Yeah, that's the basic gist. It's a revenge movie like a quarter, or halfway through. Sure. I did learn in watching this movie that Nick Cage calling someone baby makes me extremely uncomfortable. I was like, don't say that. Oh, he said it again. The dye job in his beard and the wig that he was wearing? What does he even look like? You know what I mean? Like what does he even look like? He's got to have some salt or pepper in that beard. Sure. There's no way it is just it was like a fucking uh, what is that?
Starting point is 00:12:38 Just for men? It was like that all day long. Yeah. I joke about doing that. You just like a GI Joe action figure if you do that. Well, it's funny. Well, that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. It's th. th is is th is th is th is th is th is th is th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. th. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. What th. What th. What th. What th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thee. thi. the. the. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. I joke about doing that sometimes. You just look like a GI Joe action figure if you do that. Well, it's funny because he's wearing a wig of his old hair, like the hair that he had when he was a younger man. And I find that really strange, like. Is it in it's completely possible that that is indeed his old hair. Oh, just saved. Saved and mounted. And I couldn't figure out like if she's very interesting looking. Sure. I couldn't figure out if she was like a teenager or his
Starting point is 00:13:12 contemporary or Judy Greer or what was happening there like she is. She is ageless. How old are you? Judy Greer? I think I might be Judy Greer. I don't know how old Judy Greer. It's a good age whatever it is. Yeah. I don't know how old Judy Greer, but I feel like I'm probably Judy Greer. It's a good age, whatever it is. Yeah. There just seem to be like a age discrepancy that's a little uncomfortable between the two of them? But then sometimes it doesn't look like there is.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Right. I don't know. I can't tell. Like, sometimes she looks old. Yeah. And I think it's- And sometimes she looks like a child. And like she has this red scar under her eye. And so when, what is it? Like when they're hitting it with a blue light, you can't see it? And then the red light makes it pop? This is constantly like, you guys saw this.
Starting point is 00:13:57 The constant like kaleidoscoping lights that are going on all the time, like. I did not like that for a lot of the movie. It made me feel like I was in a club. I don't like that. I think it's supposed to make you feel like you're on drugs the entire movie. Yeah. But at the end of the movie, I was like, oh, I should have had a all the way through. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:25 And I was just like, fuck. I didn't even want to stop this. No, I felt the same way. Normally I do break up these movies when they're, and I did not. I watch the whole thing. It's got a prop's like two people, it's like two people doing a podcast that you're watching. You mean our new YouTube channel? We're still figuring that out. Yeah, we're working on it. You guys haven't really given us a lot of great
Starting point is 00:14:56 suggestions, so could you try harder? Could you just do this for us? Sorry? I do really appreciate the people that said they would indeed watch us do this? Oh? th? th? th....... th? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi? thi. the the thi. th. the the t. the the the t. t. the the t. t. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. to. to. to. toge. toge. toge. toge. toge. toge. to. to. today. to. to. to. to. the people that said they would indeed watch us do this. Oh for sure. But like right now we're literally just sitting here looking at each other. It's really, we're both wearing black shirts. We're in a room full of records and blankets. Yeah, it's very cozy though. We're not in our regular studio, so. No, you can hear the AC for the summer annex is being used. So I really like that the character. the character the character the character the character the character the character the character the character the AC for the summer Annex is being used. So I really like that the character of Mandy is just like portrayed as a metal teen. She's, yeah, she's like weirdly sullen and she's reading like books that you would have
Starting point is 00:15:33 read as a sullen team. Yeah, like hard sci-fi or something. And then even when she's telling the story about her dad and the starlings, like it sounds like a child is thi..... th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th... And, th..... And, th........................................ th. th child is telling it. For sure. And then, and then, and then, and then, you know what I mean? Like, there's no like reflection or, I don't know, she's just telling it like a child would repeat something. Super cold and like, yeah. When they're talking about what their favorite planets are. Yeah. She's like, mine's Jupiter. Mine's Jupiter. the's like, thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi. thi. thi's thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the th. the the th. the the thi. thi. And thi. And thi. And the their. And their. And they. And they. And they. And their. And the their their the their the the. the. th for a thousand years. The whole thing is a fucking aim profile, I'm telling you. Do you have an aim? Do you use aim? Is that too late for you? Too early for me. I didn't really internet until after that was the thing. Oh buddy.
Starting point is 00:16:12 It's for the best. You never got to like make up a fake screen name and I am your crush. No, no, no, no. No. Me. Me. Me. Me. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. It. I. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Me either. J.K. We've talked about my Yahoo account that was X Allarchy X. Is that your Dr. Menard account? No, that's something different. That's something different. But I just, I really, like, she's always wearing like a Mottlakru or a black t-savith t-shirt, like sleeveless and like long hair part in the middle looking like a like a metal kid I assume that this dude is a metal a metal head like the Panos Cosmitos like or at least has like an appreciation for the ridiculousness of
Starting point is 00:16:55 it how do you think these two met? AA? Because there's the implication that he doesn't drink anymore. Because when he's on the helicopter in the beginning when they're leaving the logging site, someone offers him a beer and he says no and then looks off into the distance. Oh, like you do when you're a recovering alcoholic. Well, it also kind of gave him the, like, you get the vibe that he might have been on like Nome or something? Oh, yeah, that could make sense. Because this is taking place in 1983. That would explain how he could smell.
Starting point is 00:17:26 No, it doesn't. And he does have a hidden bottle of vodka's in the bathroom with the best wallpaper I've ever seen. I don't remember the wallpaper. It's pretty good. It's very 80s. It's like brown and orange patterned. Oh yeah, yeah. Might be tile. I was too busy looking just tidy whities. I like I could I like had to look away from his patchy thigh hair which I appreciate that he's an older man and this is what he's working with you know sure yeah the dishonesty of his beard color
Starting point is 00:17:52 yes the honesty of his patchy thigh hair yeah I also love his this character's love with the three-quartered sleeve shirt yeah I love a a baseball shirt. I think more people should wear baseball shirts. I think they look good on everyone. Okay, okay. You heard it here first, our new fashion podcast. It's called the three-quarter sleeve podcast. It's called Horn of Abraxas. What was that thing? I don't know. It sounds like a D&D thing, right? Yeah, right it's all like tutility to do to do there's like when they're gonna stab Nicholas Cage and the guy's like this is the pale blade from the abyssal plane and it's like that's some D&D shit. It is absolutely some D&D shit. Again 12 year old boy who really loves metal in
Starting point is 00:18:41 D&T wrote this movie. So wait so how do you think this cult got together? Because he does a big, like, grandiose back story on himself, where he's like, I couldn't arise to the higher planes. And I was like, I hope I don't need to know any of this because I'm not listening. It was long and confusing. I mean, I think he's just straight analogous for Manson. Okay. Because Manson's failed rock and roll singer. That's true.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Because, like, he was going to do a song with the Beach Boys at one point. Or they recorded one of his songs. Yeah, I have one of his albums somewhere. Ew. Yeah, it's gross. No. I used to be a gross guy. We all used to be a gross guy. Some of us still are. But I'm assuming like he was just like this charismatic dude that apparently everybody in his cult wanted to fuck. Yeah, he's being so mean to Marlene at the beginning. He's like being like exactly how I am.
Starting point is 00:19:32 He's like, he's like, he's like, that's exactly how I am. Like, no, you don't do anything right. And I was like, you need to be nicer to your loved th. And I. And I. And I. And I. to. to. to. to. to. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to to to to to the to to to to the to the to the th. th. the th. Yeah, th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th.to be nicer to your loved ones. I kind of felt like Marlene should have been like, uh, honey, you need to snickers. Yeah, yeah, he's being such a bitch. You're very angry right now. Yeah, they're the cult connected to the guys on the bikes then. I think they're just like thugs for hire. The bike guys. Because they sacrifice the one, one, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thi, thin, thi..eeean, tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And, than, the black skulls. Because they sacrifice the one of their members to them. Yes, I believe he is the one being sexually assaulted later on in the movie.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Oh. They briefly show someone's face as the lurching guy with a knife dick is getting off of something. I missed that. It's all in shadow and you like kind of like see a close up on someone's face who's crying. Oh, okay. It's like yeah I was gonna say it's tastefully done. It was not. Sir, sir no. But it was like mercifully done where you didn't have to see anything. Yeah. This is very naive of me but they you never the way Mandy is killed is she's brought out of the house in like a full body bag hung up and burned alive and I really thought it was going th that the the the the way the way the way the way th to be th th th th th to be th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. thi thi tho thi that thus. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I the. I the. I was the. I was the. I was the. I was the. I was th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah and burned alive. And I really thought it was gonna be a bait and switch.
Starting point is 00:20:47 I thought it was gonna be that cult member who had been burned and that they had kidnapped Mandy and it somehow they were gonna get her back to the back, I don't know. He does not get her back. I loved the special effect of the body, of the like sleeping bag or whatever it was, like jerking back and forth when th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like jerking back and forth when it's catching on fire? Yeah, it's a little bleak. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:06 A little, a little. Just like slightly upsetting. Did you like when Mandy was talking to Mother Marlene in the convenience store and she's like, oh, where do you guys live? She's like, down by Crystal Lake. Yeah, I did like that. That's again what I mean. It's like like, like, like, like, like, the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. That's again what I mean it's like it's so silly there's like these silly like homagey things that are like I don't think that's that silly I don't know I didn't I did not laugh in this movie. It's more of an internal
Starting point is 00:21:33 chuckle. No sir but I did like that shot of the people standing in the woods outside the house and there's like a sick guitar riff when they they get lit up I was like yeah th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like th th th th th th th th like th like th like th th like like th like th like th like th like th like th like th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th like like like th like th like th like th like th like th like thi thi thi thi thi thi to thi to thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi guitar riff when they get lit up. I was like yeah if I ever made a movie you'll be full of like shots punctuated by sick guitar riff. Sure. That's so good. That's the 12-year-old boy inside of you talk. Oh my God yeah. I also love that all the like there's these title cards that show up. There's the one that says Shadow Mountain 1983 and it looks like it could be like Blue Oyster Cult logo and then there's like Children of the Dawn which has got like a more like yellow flavor to it and then I like the that you're like so there's Blue Oyster Colt and then there's yellow and there's a distinct difference in what their logos would look like sure for most people listening to this podcast they have no idea what you mean sir well the electric light orchestra I do I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, sir. Well, the, do you guys like electric light orchestra?
Starting point is 00:22:25 I do. I do. I'm a more of a blue-wister-call fan myself. Are you? You know what? That fits us? Yeah. They were vaguely satanic and weird and, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:35 And yellow was just like, just poppy goodness. If anyone who knows me would describe me, poppy goodness. Thanks, Symbalta. Ha ha ha ha. But then like the Mandy logo is just like straight up like black metal, like just like all sharp points and yeah. I like how we have to say it like this because it's metal. My tongue just hung out of my mouth. They heard.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Touch the microphone with that? Do you like the carpenters? I think they're sensational. But I love that too because that's supposed to be like, oh, this guy isn't cool. No, deeply uncooo. And he's also wearing those enormous shoulder pads which are deeply uncool. Yeah it looked like a cast-off from like Ace Freely. I'm not going to wear that. Yeah no that's too much. That is a bridge too far. Fun fact I do like the carpenters. Do you? I have very nostalgic feelings for some of those songs for
Starting point is 00:23:39 for sure. Do you think they're sensational? Do you think they're sensational? Do you think they're sensational? No, no. I also didn't think that Jeremiah Sands music was sensational. It sounded like the Carpenters. But that's what that stuff, like, I have, do you remember the Umshun Riccio cult? They were a death cult in Japan that released Sarengast into the subways in Japan? No. They were bad dudes? When was that? It would haveast into the Subways in Japan. No. Yeah, they were bad dudes. When was that? It would have been in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Oh no, I have no memory of that. That's so weird. Their leader put out a record of children's songs. Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. And they're fucking weird. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:19 And they're fucking. Oh no, this is bright and happy. Everything's great. Poppy goodness. Yeah. Oh, you think you could ever be an occult? No, I'm not. As we have saved it a thousand times, I am not a joiner. I'm not a joiner. Yeah. Yeah. We were both bad at joining things. Oh, still am I'm not one of those guys that's gonna like find like, oh no, I really want to be in a little country club now or whatever old men do.
Starting point is 00:24:46 You should golf. You should take up golf. I can't imagine. Oh my god, you'd have to buy those shoes. You'd have to be around other people playing golf. It seems like it should be a solo sport. It does, but it's always like cigar chomping. the driving range. That seems fun actually. See how far you can hit it? Yeah, I want there to be like panes of glass at certain level the juges smash. Right, you hit it 350 feet or whatever. I don't know how far hitting a golf ball with me. You've got to hit the C4
Starting point is 00:25:14 charge. It's going to explode this thing. And then the sick guitar riffing, we just want Japanese death match wrestling but in driving range form. I think that's a great business idea and I think the way should copyright, copyright copyright. All right, you gotta smash through the pile of fluorescent bulbs that we have stacked up. It's gonna be like half Japanese Pro Wrestling, half Mario Kart, I think. What do you think? Mario Kart with a board with thumb tax on it? Yeah, yeah. Like a super bleak Mario cart. That's. I. that. that, that, that, and I, that, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, that, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I that, and I that, and I that, and I that, and I that, and I that's, and I that's, and I th, and I th, and I that's that's that's th th th th th th th th th th th th th, and I th, and I th, and I thi thi thi thi thi thi, and I th, and I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th tho thi thi thi thi thateaugh thate thate thate thate thate thoooooo tho thi thi thi th with a board with thumb to X on him. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Like a super bleak Mario Cart.
Starting point is 00:25:48 That's my dream. Super bleak. This movie is kind of a super bleak Mario Cart. It actually is. Also when the one piker goes blood for blood, I was like, chaos rains. They're so so, like, I thought they were scary. The one guy that looks like his entire face is made out of piled up Vaseline is real gross. I thought all three of them were scary.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Oh, I think the other two just look like slip knot. Slipknot's kind of scary though. The one dude just has a big whang off his face. Yeah, like till this winn. That wasn't her face. Should have been. Why does that psychiatrist have a big whang hang off his face? I just like, I try to talk about my problems, but I can't focus. So yes, so they kill Mandy.
Starting point is 00:26:39 They kill Mandy, which I didn't think was Mandy. But then you see her ashes and it's in the shape in the shape in the shape in the shape in the shape shape shape in the shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape in the shape shape shape shape in the shape shape in the shape in the shape in the shape in the shape in the shape shape in But then you see her ashes and it's in the shape of her face. Well, that's a shape of a lot of people's faces. Also, those bones will be very hot to the touch. They would be. You just can't pick those up. No? Mm-hmm. But this is the man who did have to have his hands out too and you're just like, ugh. Or later in the movie, when he has to pull the nail out of his hand that's holding his
Starting point is 00:27:05 hand to the floor? Yuck. Big yuck. None of this seems to affect him in any real physical way, though. I feel like if someone did that to me, I would just die, literally, just lie down and be dead forever, as dead often is. Nicholas Cage's credit, I think there was a period of time where he was a great actor, like a legit fantastic actor. Like leaving Las Vegas. Like leaving Las Vegas, like, um, yeah, that era.
Starting point is 00:27:30 And like, even in like, Valley Girl and like, it was, yeah, yeah, and he still has like glimmers of that. And when he is, his mouth is barbed wiered open and he's held in place and he's crying, watching his partner burn to death. Like, that pathos was real. Yeah, he was good. And so I was reading about the movie and his wife had unexpectedly left him right before he did this movie. And so he's like, oh, I got it out. Which is like, fuck like, but it's art as therapy, and that's really beautiful.
Starting point is 00:28:05 That he was like, found this vehicle, this fucked up vehicle. Extremely fucked up vehicle. To deal with all that stuff. I was also reading that when Panos Cosmoto approached him, he wanted Nicholas Cage to be Jerma San. Oh, I think that would have gone so badly. Yeah. And Nicholas Cagos was like, oh, oh, oh, thi, oh, oh, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that would have gone so badly. Yeah. And Nicholas Kiddler was like, oh, I don't want to do that. I want to do this guy.
Starting point is 00:28:27 And he's like, well, we wanted to be like age versus, or like old age versus young. So we wanted the red character to be young, going up against this older guy. And I guess Elijah Wood, who produced this movie. Elijah Woods. Elijah Woods. Too, plural. Who produced this movie, like, made them meet again and was like, you should think about having him do this. Okay. Yeah, and so I think it's a good choice. And I guess when they met again it worked out.
Starting point is 00:28:54 But Linus Roach is probably not much younger than. No. No, they're pretty similar. He looks very interesting through, like at points he looks handsome, at points he looks charming and at points he looks like a bunco ultimate warrior, you know what I mean? Like he looks, he really changes. Do you think, I thought at one point they were putting prosthetics on his face. They must have been, like building out his cheekbones and his cheekbones and his nose ridge and stuff like he did look like a bunco ultimate warrior. He really did.
Starting point is 00:29:26 And like, in the same scene. Because his roots are so bad, yeah. Oh, that's back again, right? Everybody's bleaching their hair again, so now everybody has roots again? I guess, I don't know. This is my, this is my natural color. Should I bleach my hair? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. their. their. Because, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because. Because. Because, their. Because. Because. Because. Because. Because, their. Because, their. Because. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their. Because, their their their their their their their roots. their roots. their roots. their roots. their roots. Because, their. Because, their. Because, would look real good, right? I think no. I think it would look weird with your white beard. I did it with my red beard. I think you would look like a sex pervert.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Is that a Santa Claus sex perver? Yeah, like nobody wants to know the Santa Claus sex pervert, so I'm going to go with no. Although, might look cool at the Country Club. You never know. I did buy a shirt with baboons all over it. Baboons? Baboons? I love baboons. Where did you purchase that? It was an old navy purchase? I've gotten many compliments of my baboon shirt. I can't believe you're not wearing your baboon shirt. You know I love a baboon. What a fun word to say we have to put in the dictionary. I don't know why I feel like it was maybe the Congo episode that I just kept saying baboon. But now anything that sounds like that I keep saying it that way.
Starting point is 00:30:34 So every time I read the very hungry caterpillar to Lucy, I go cocoon. It kind of sounds like you're putting the lime inside the coconut. And the coconut. Baboon. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. Ch cheddar. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thoom. I don't. I th. I don't tho tho thoom. I don't tho tho. I don't tho tho tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I don't the. I the the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the like the lime inside the coconut. In the coconut. Maboon. Baboon. Cheddar Goblins? Loved it. What is that? Why is that there?
Starting point is 00:30:52 So is it supposed to rep like, at first I was like, oh, this is this dude having a psychological break. Okay. He's having a break with reality because there's no macaroni cheese commercial where a goblin pukes macaroni cheese on children's heads. And you're like I gotta get that, I gotta buy that. But then later when we are at Carothers, which is hilarious that the bald black man who has all the information is named Carothers, i. He's, he has like a similar, um, like an affect to him.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Yeah, what's it? I'm trying to think of the word when you carry yourself a certain way. I don't know. Oh, yeah. I don't know. I don't know. All I can think of is affect. It's the way he holds himself is very, very soon.
Starting point is 00:31:45 He carries himself so early. Yeah, that's not what I wanted to say that. I'm going to come up with it later and then I'm going to scream it into the microphone regardless of what you're saying at that point because... 2 a.m. text. Yeah. Veriform. But no, like, he's also, did you recognize him from another movie that we've done. I did not. You fell asleep during and it did not rewind to see
Starting point is 00:32:05 Carl Weathers lose his arm. Look, I'd seen the god damn movie. He's in Predator. Who is he? He's the guy who says, you ghosting us, motho? And he's the guy's today. And he's sh I don't know. Is everything all right? What is that guy's name?
Starting point is 00:32:25 His name is, is everything all right with Bill Duke? Bill Duke. When we go to Carruthers' house, there is a box of Cheddar Goblin on a shelf. Yeah. So it's like, oh, who's real real. It was real real. this like horrible thing because it's after they kill Mandy they just like get in the vans and leave. They leave him to die. Yeah because they've stabbed him in the side to bleed out. But it's just like the idea of walking back into your
Starting point is 00:32:51 house alone after all of that has happened and being like what the fuck so shell-shocked and then there's this like absurd thing on this television the television is so absurd you know what I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I the the th I th I th I th I th I thi thi thi. What I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean like what I mean like what I mean like what I mean I mean I mean like like what I mean. the the they. they. they. they. their their their their their their their is just their is just just their is just just just just just their is just just their is just just just their is their is their is their is their is so their is so their is so absurd is so absurd is so absurd is so absurd. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. their they. th. th. th. they. th. they. they like life going on, right? Yeah, and look, and yeah, earlier in the night they were watching like an alien factor level like sci-fi movie. Yeah, I wanted to see what that was. I don't know what it was, but I would like to watch that movie. But I love that when Mandy was at San Diego Comic on, there was a cheddar goblin, wasn't it? Oh. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was just a Gremlin, wasn't it? It looked like a spike, stripe, stripe, sorry I said that. Don't be mad, guys. It's a little bit more like, orcish than that. Yeah, that's fair.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Yeah, but I just think like, again, that's the silliness of this like, I to promote this fucked up the sill...... It the sill. It's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, like, that's, that's, that's, that's a. that's a. that's a. that's a. that's a. Here's a goblin. Yeah. You go like that? It pukes cheese on people. I did chuckle at one point, which your Carothers talk reminded me of, when he says, what are you hunting? And Nick Cage says, Jesus freaks. And he goes, Jesus freaks. I didn't know they were in season. I did laugh at that. Maybe they were laughing. Oh no. Am I a bad person? Can I ask a question about that bathroom scene?
Starting point is 00:34:05 Please. Do you think, because it was all one cut. Yes. How many takes you think that took to get? One. One. Me too. I thought about pouring vodka into a stomach wound and made me want to hurl.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Yeah. Yeah. Ugh, that's got to burn so to burn so doing that. Yeah. Like he's so he's been stabbed he's been barbed to a fence and he's just pouring vodka down his throat and then on to his wounds and screaming and screaming and then smelting and then smelting, then smelting immediately afterwards smelting. I was like, should you be operating this this forge right now? The fact that he had the wherewithal to put on another three-quarter sleeve shirt, his 44 shirt? Yeah. Which there's a lot of IMDB chatter about what that might be? I thought it was about President Barack Obama.
Starting point is 00:34:59 What do you think? The internet thinks that it might be a son of Sam reference. Ah, okay. Because he was the 45 caliber killer. Or something like that. Don't correct me, a weird serial killer, sick offense. I don't think they're listening. It was Jackie Robinson's number. No, Jackie Robinson's 42. Oh. Internet fucking lies to me.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Yeah. It was also apparently... Please do not fuck up Jackie Robinson. Don't come at me, you weird sports, I know. No, no, no one, everyone knows I'm right Jackie Robinson is 42. So that was, I have to be lied to me on that. And then apparently it's the name of a character in some unfinished Mark Twain story. I'm going back with Barack Hussein Obama. Now I want to see him in Nick Cage's role in this movie. Do you think Nick Cage and Barack Obama have ever met?
Starting point is 00:35:48 Yes. Yeah, I think so too. You think we liked each other? I think he went down and saw Bad Lieutenant Bad Lieutenant, bad lieutenant. What? What? What?
Starting point is 00:35:57 Oh, the Werner Hertzagg movie? No, sir? It's full starring Nicholas Cage? No, sir. That's a sequel that has nothing to do with Bad Lieutenant? No, sir. Ooh, it's good. No, sir. It's full on Nicholas Cage. I thought he was gonna go full on Nicholas Cage in this movie, and he just doesn't. You rip my shirt.
Starting point is 00:36:14 That's the only time he does, I guess. Do you think he's scream the bees for that long and not know you're being silly. I love that moving. There's all these other characters. There's Brother Swan who blows the horn of Obrexis to call the Slipknot Biker Gang. There's... But it does actually summon them, which was why I thought something was supernatural about this. Sure. It does have that sort of like quasi-mythical like spirituality. Yeah. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Maybe they just, you think they just were like hanging out and heard it. And they're like, I mean, doorbell. I'd like to think that they're like so fucked up that they think they're living in this fantastical world where like, oh, we get summoned by that horn. That's what we do. But they really do, though. They really do get summoned by the horn. The horn of a braxus. Yeah, like, it's so, it's like really grounded fantasy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:16 And like, what is in that jar? That gray substance in the jar? Is it liquid? LSD. And like, think, I thought it, okay. Yeah, LSD comes in liquid, that's why you like drop it on paper and sugar cubes. Yeah, and it absorbs it and then you take that. I guess if they ever seen it in tab form. Yeah. But you can like people do dose, they droppers and lest into their eyeballs, apparently. Go-rose. You gotta follow follow that that that that th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th they they th they they'll they'll they'll th they'll tho they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll th. I don't understand that at all.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I'm sure there are a wasp that big because the world is a nightmare. Australia, I'm sure it's Australia. Sorry to our Australian listeners, your place is a hellscape, and it's very scary to me. I feel like I've asked you this before, but have you ever read the, uh, in a sunburnt country by, oh my god, why can't I remember anybody's name? Oh, okay. It's a, it's a travel book about going to Australia and he just lists all the fucking like, like, the fucking like, like, the fucking like, they's, like, they's, like, they'lip. Like, they, they's, like, they, they's. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they's, they, they, they's, it's, it's, the th. the's, the's, the the the the the the the the the the the th, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. the tree. thea. tr-s. tr-s-a, tr-s-a-a-s-s-a-s-s-s-a-s-a-fo-fo-fo-a-fo-way way way way way way, toya, just like nonchalant about all this shit that can murder you because you just live with it. I guess. Like people who live where scorpions live. Don't live where scorpions live.
Starting point is 00:38:29 It's an airhouse. Yeah, I know. Well, I think it's fucked up that we live in the desert anyway because the amount of work that we've had to do to make it livable, it just means like the the the the the the th, it's th, it's th, it's just th, it's meant to be. You can grow things, it rains all the time. So lush. So lush. So lush. So lush. So lush. So yeah, there's all these like antelary characters that like hang around with Jeremiah Sand and like. I don't know. I didn't realize they were two guys with that hair cut until like one of them was real buff and the other one wasn't. There's a Sand and like... Like the two, I didn't realize they were two guys with that haircut until like one of them was real buff and the other one wasn't. There's a big and little version of them. I did not understand that at all. Can we get into what I assume is your favorite part of
Starting point is 00:39:14 this movie? The giant chainsaw? Yeah. Once you've fallen and the chainsaw has gone, inside your tum-tum? No, no, no, that man could do a push-up. He was obscenely buff. I don't think you can push-up, thu. I think push-up, you get the chainsaw. But I felt like that was very like Nick Cage doing his best Bruce Campbell. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:39:51 I feel like he was doing some Bruce Campbelling in that scene. Sure. Sure. Like sticking his jaw out to the chainsaw fight in Texas chainsaw massacre too. I would hope so. I mean, do they even make, do they make chainsaws that big? Is that real? I would assume you got to cut trees down the big? That would be so unwieldy?
Starting point is 00:40:12 Like, how dangerous? Like, how dangerous? What? What? ? ? ? .
Starting point is 00:40:21 . . I don't know. It was just so absurd. But it was hilarious in that, like, and it goes off for so long. So long. So Nichols Cage goes around and kills the demon guys, I'm going to call them the demon guys, even Philadelphia where they do a musical and she just can't put her arms up because her dress is too tight and I felt like why didn't you guys do something about that? It's also funny the thing that you would put on that much leather that you just can't raise your arms. Yeah you just like go to pick your arms and you're like well this is my life th. Well th. Well th. Well th. Well th. Well th. Well th. th. Well th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the. the. the. the. te. te. te. te. try. te. te. try. te. te. try. try. te. the. the. the. the. he's chasing down the black skulls and he hits the one with his truck and the dude flips his truck. Yeah, that's why I thought they were super natural. I'm telling you, something's weird there.
Starting point is 00:41:13 You do enough LSD, you can do that. Really? Super strong? Super strong? But then later he lights a cigarette off of one of the burning heads, which Ithought was very good too. And the climax of this scene is what gives it its most heavy metal bullshit, like over-the-topness. He confronts Jeremiah San in this underground bunker church that he has, or he's maybe fucking a wall when he walks in on him. I wasn't sure what was happening. Well, God was in there. And also he was fucking that wall? But that temple looked super cool. Like really impractical in the rain, especially in the Pacific Northwest, but it looked super cool. It did.
Starting point is 00:41:51 And they have this like final confrontation where Jeremiah Sand is wildly vacilling. We're just like I'm gonna fucking kill you. I'll suck your dick. I'm gonna fucking kill you. Yeah. My head is crushed. Yeah. And the head crushing takes forever, and it's great. It is great. Because that would take a long time to crush somebody's head.
Starting point is 00:42:13 I don't think you could even really do that with your bare hands. Kung Fu movies have told me differently. Why did he leave that one girl alive though. Because he kills Marlene, it's not a women's issue. But Marlene's a maniac. She is. But he doesn't know that and he doesn't know that this woman isn't, the younger girl. She like had very empathetic eyes to him early on in the movie and I think you're supposed to be like, oh, she was empathetic to him.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Yeah, but she also in this, so where is she now? I know now. Can we talk about the tiger? Lizzy? What is that about? Well, it was originally supposed to be a lizard. Uh-huh? Really? And they were like, well, that's not going to work. Let's get a tiger?
Starting point is 00:42:54 I was reading something about it. And like, yeah, yeah, it was a lizard, now it's a tiger. Anyway, so, like, the director was like, fuck it, anyway, we're doing a tiger now, and it's named Lizzy. I think it was just supposed to be like, this guy's a fucking weird, rich weirdo. Why were there like thrown, like, thrown, like, thrown, the ti. togu-and, they. they. thi. thr. thr-ands. thr-a. thr-a. they-s. thr-s. thr-s. thr-s. thr-a-a-s. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's thr-a's thi's a thi's a thi's a th. th. th. thi's a thi's a thi's a thi's a thi's a thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. togeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-a's thi. thibrush t-shirt. I was a, I literally wrote here, Tiger growling in front of a stormy sky like a wolf howling at the moon t-shirt. It's so silly and like all like the weird like animated parts that happened in this movie too? I don't love that. Sure I think that was supposed to be a nod to the movie Heavy Metal and like it's a cartoon movie from the 70s. Yeah it's a cartoon. It's. It's a the the the the the the the the the the th. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie. It's. It's. It's a movie. It's a movie. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon movie movie movie movie movie movie. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a the. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon. It's a cartoon movie from the 70s. Yeah. Meh. Or like, I don't know, kill Bill. You know, you don't know what this shit's referencing. Yeah, I don't know why the tiger was there other than to have the shot where it's like standing against the moon.
Starting point is 00:43:58 I mean, after that I started, seriously, what am I even watching? Well, what about the final shot of the movie, which is Red driving away, and as he's driving away, the camera pans up and he's not on Earth. Yeah, what the fuck was that? What the fuck was that? Because he has this weird moment where he's like smiling into the passenger seat like a maniac covered in blood because it looks like Mandy's there. And then when the scene cuts, he's looking straight ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead ahead the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the when the scene cuts, he's looking straight ahead and very bleak. Yeah. But then he drives away and there's a planet and a moon.
Starting point is 00:44:30 That's not our moon, not our planet. There's multiple moons. Like what? What? Yeah. What? He also did. We didn't even talk about that.
Starting point is 00:44:41 He just like... He picks up like a dinner plate. Yeah. Cocaine is a word like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like 't even talk about that. He just like... Picks up like a dinner plate full of. Makes a pillow of cocaine. Cocaine is a word like baboon, cocaine, booboon, cocaine, booboan. Oh my god, have you seen the cocaine booboon? Cocaine boobo. Oh my god, I would never go near a cocaine. Quick shout out to you're tongue. With the definition of but-hole, it's like the word but-hole, but without the teas.
Starting point is 00:45:05 It's a lot of work for your tongue, but-hole. I like how many people were like made Don Don Don Jokes about that, Tam. Which is in the book, yeah, and now Baboon and Cocaine are gonna have to be in there too. The book? The book? The Bible, the word Bible as they is Mandy. Is it? I feel like we explained it as much as it explains itself. Fair. Katie.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Alan. Do you want to go to the Ratings phase? I do, but I'm having a tough time with this one. I do the invisible orange at you. Invisible orange? Yeah, you do the invisible orange. Yeah, you'd do the invisible orange. Sik guitar riff. You want me to go first? I do. So this is my second time watching this movie.
Starting point is 00:45:48 So you knew what you were getting into a new song? Okay. When I suggested and saw it. Mm-hmm. I really like this movie. Do you? It is Tweaker's Crazy Town. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:01 But I think it's like, it is so what it set out to be. I'm gonna make a heavy metal movie? Oh, I made a fucking heavy metal movie. Absolutely. I'm gonna give this movie a nine. Oh, fuck! Can you make their phone make that sound? That's a nine.
Starting point is 00:46:19 That's a nine. That's the sound of a nine. So, for me, I thought I was getting a very different experience than what I had, but I wouldn't say that I did not enjoy the experience that I had. I was just caught very off guard by it. Sure. I kind of appreciate that you were caught off guard by it. For sure. It was a very different experience than what I expected. You're right that it definitely did what it set out to do and there were points that it definitely did what it set out to do. And there were points that it legitimately scared me. And I watched this last night. And as you know, there was a very bad storm last night. There was.
Starting point is 00:46:47 And I was home alone. And one of my cats kept throwing himself on my bedroom door because he's an asshole. And so I was just like laying in bed, watching the the door. Like it even kind of scared me even though it's... Go Go, go, bananas, crazy, right? Yeah. Uh, uh... I can't, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:12 I don't know. I liked it. I'd watch it. I'd say, you should. It's crazy. But like, what the fuck? Yeah, I kind of appreciate the what the fuckness of it. Like, it's fucking bananas.
Starting point is 00:47:28 I mean, it's hard to believe it was written down. Right, right, right. And like, and it looks gorgeous. It looks amazing. Okay, fine, nine. Am I doing it right? DJ Taddy! Never stop, never stop. Never stop. People are sitting on the bus right now to work and they're like, please stop making that sound. They're just going, well at least we're not talking about bees fucking.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Oh man. I don't want to talk about that. Grossos, you people are gross. They really are. Just getting grossos. We love you sometimes. Yeah, yeah, I'll take that out. Yeah, right. I don't love some of you. I'll take that out.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Yep. Oh, goddamn thing. Katie. Alan. I requested that our listeners ask us some questions for the podcast. Okay. Our listeners are very kind and answered that request. What nice people.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Can I ask you a question that we were asked? Here's one. Do you watch DVD commentaries? I have only ever watched one. And it is for my favorite film? the f. Do you watch DVD Commentaries? I have only ever watched one and it is for my favorite film of all time. This is Spinal Tap. Which I highly recommend if you like that movie because the DVD Commentary is Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shear reprising their roles from that movie as though it was a real documentary that was made and they're old now and looking back on it and they're just like trashing like like the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. and th. Starting point is 00:49:09 Rob Reiner's character and they're just like bitching about how they're like being depicted and like it's just it's like another movie like it's so fucking funny it's literally like a second movie on top of a movie and I love it that's awesome yeah but I don't think I've ever actually watched the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I feel like you know a lot of facts. Tell me about your DVD commentary experience. Well, can I give you, I have two that I really love. One is on the, I think it's the British version of Shona the Dead, has a fourth commentary, track that's just zombies. Just like moaning? For the entire movie.
Starting point is 00:49:47 That's really funny. And the other one is the Big Trouble and Little China, Kurt Russell, John Carpenter. Oh, I would like to see that. And a quarter of the way through the movie, they stopped talking about the movie, like, hey, is your kid still playing softball? And they just start talking to to to to to to tothis theory that they did the thing and then Big Trouble in Little China back to back because it seems like they started drinking in the thing and were pretty toasty
Starting point is 00:50:13 in Big Trouble Little China. Oh God. I mean, I feel like all DVD commentary has to be drinking, right? It has to be. Yeah. Those are my those are th. Those are th. Only five stars are acceptable. Must listen. Exclamation point. After finally watching hereditary, I was both confused and horrified and in desperate need for some sort of resolution. This started my journey of looking for a movie review podcast that discussed it. I came across wherewulf ambulance and it was a much-needed palette cleanser. If you are addicted to horror and need to laugh, this show is for you. Nine out of ten times I skipped the ads on podcast, but this show has more than earned my full attention for the entirety of each episode. We haven't
Starting point is 00:51:08 had an ad in a while to be no. Starting point is 00:52:08 I'm sure there's one called Buffy Summers. I'm sure, yeah, just like, oh my gosh. Should we fight those people or no? No, man, they're just doing. popular than it was. So we can tear you down, which is how what makes us feel good about ourselves. So yeah, we're gonna watch Buffy. That was on Amazon. I rented it on Amazon. I don't know, I think I got on Google. Yeah. You gugged it. Yeah, you've got it. Give it a good. Gugge. Yeah, some day. I don't know what we're doing next week though. They always do that next week, probably. Oh, oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. It's gonna be a movie, probably.
Starting point is 00:52:49 It's probably, buffy the vampires. Might be a buffeting vampires. Uh, you can find us on the internet? Yeah. Email us. Give us suggestions for what to do on YouTube. I think we're going to figure it out. a cartwheel. Just gonna be me, me being your uncle holding a camera on the two card wheels. And then you like miss and you're like, do it again.
Starting point is 00:53:11 Just fucking marble smoke coming up over the lens. In your backyard, just like, um, your dog is running around in the back, in the background. Yins is doing great. I do a rogue a cartwheel. And dizzy. Then you're gonna hold me by my wrists and spin me around in a circle, because I, because, because, because, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I the, and I the, and I the, and the then, and then, and then, and th. Yeah, God, I wish you had an above ground pool. Thanks for listening to another episode of Wearable Fabulance. Bye. Bye. Bye. Oh
