Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 330- Deathproof (2007)

Episode Date: May 3, 2021

This week's episode is the second in our 2007 "Grindhouse" series-- the Quentin Tarantino-written and directed film "Deathproof." Special topics for your consideration include: amazing stunts! butts! ...obscure references! Quentin Tarantino's childhood! butts! unwanted foot touching! BUTTS! and of course, an ode to our boyfriend and quite frankly your boyfriend as well, Kurt Russell. What a guy. Last week (Episode 329- "Planet Terror") was the first half of "Grindhouse" in case you missed it. Since Tarantino does have great taste in film, I looked up a list of his top 10 favorite horror movies and we'd covered some: Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," Episode 305- "My Bloody Valentine" and for some reason, Episode 289= "Crawl" (but why?) Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan are you there? Katie, I'm a fast sports car. Oh, blah. Blahah. Alibabobobobob. Alan, are you there? Yeah, Katie. I'm a fast sports car.
Starting point is 00:00:15 Oh, are you there? Yeah, Katie, I'm a fast sports car. Oh, are you a muscular car? I'm a Dodge Charger from 1969 and to 70. That seems like a big deal to be a Dodge Challenger. Oh, yes, you sound loud. What do you think about cars? I mean, they're fine. I drive them. I've never been a car guy.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Shocking to no one. I've never been a car guy. Particularly if you listen to last week's episode, in which we critically panned car guys. Just kidding, you guys are fine, I'm sure. Just don't talk to me about it. I mean, get into whatever makes you happy. Oh, more sure. Don't pour your friends. That's it. I love looking at knives on the internet. A totally harmless activity.
Starting point is 00:01:11 A victimless crime. Did I tell you about the giant knife that I bought recently? No. I'll just show you to you at someone. It's ridiculous. How big is giant? Oh, no, it's a 10 and a half inch blade. It's a machete. You know what you can get is our friend Perry to etch that for you. Oh I see. I've also been watching the television show
Starting point is 00:01:35 Forged in Fire which is a knife-making competition. Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost. So yeah you like some people like cars, some people like knives, it's fine. It's totally the same thing. Not at all alarming, more distressing in any way. I for one am really looking forward to some Kurt Russell. Oh yeah, yeah. Love that, dude. And you get every variation on a Kurt Russell theme in this movie. Even sappy, romantic Kurt Russell, when he's like reciting the poem and it stops being
Starting point is 00:02:12 threatening for a second and he's sort, he like has that look in his beautiful eyes, you're like, Kurt Russell, I'd marry you. And you're weird, swooped back Elvis hair. I like it. He has rocked that look for a very long time. For sure, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've always weirded out by people who find a haircut and just stick with it. You think people should change it up? I mean I've just like I've gone through many different variations of hair cuts over my lifetime like yeah. Maybe I just you know I've never found the one that I can thin. It's true. It's I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I've th. It's.the store. For sure. Oh man, I like got stressed out and that scene where they were like, who we none of us have weed!
Starting point is 00:03:05 How are we going to get weed? Did you ever go through weed deserts? Yes, all the time. Especially around this time, like mid-2000s, I went through a lot of weed deserts. Nobody's got it. And like never meet up with them and it's like you're a drug dealer deal me drugs yeah yeah or god or your roommate calls that one dude that you just don't want coming to the apartment but he fucking he's the only guy you can get the weed for your roommate and you're like I'm like scraping the weed their roommate's the to'n't and you're like to to try and the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the roommate. I's to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. the they. they. they. they. the they. the they. the the they. they. the only. the only. the the the only only one one. they. the only only one. the only one. the only one. the only. the only. the only. the the I don't want to get busted with that in the house. And then, oh, yeah, what's up? How much, Coke? Not a ton. Missy's buying Coke these days, huh? Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:50 No, you can just go to the weed store. It's so easy now. And the Coke store, everything's legal. Yeah, that's next door to the apple. What's a chilly parlor? You know, it's just bar? It's a bar, apparently. Never heard that before. Neither am I. I like it.
Starting point is 00:04:11 So how do you feel about butts? Where do you come out on butts? You know I love butts. Yeah, sure. Sure. So you're going to like this movie because there's a lot of butts. Butts on, but buts on butts on butts when you have to pee do you run just holding your crotch for blocks? No but my three year old does. Yeah that's yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah the the sometimes that doesn't even work holding it in with your hand like that as she can attest that's not how it works no as it turns out it's not how it works.
Starting point is 00:04:40 It's not how it works. You can't just Dutch boy that shit and hope that it doesn't spray out. I feel like there's a lot of not understanding women in this movie. In what way? Well, running and holding your crotch because you don't want to pee. Oh, you mean Quentin Tarantino doesn't understand that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Although I thought a lot want to pee. Oh, you mean Quentin Tarantino doesn't understand what that? I see. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Although I thought a lot of the dialogue was like nicely playful and friendly in the way that like women are to each other when they're very comfortable. And also obsessed with movies from the 70s. Well, that too. That's not, yeah. None th th of female friends around me anyway, this might be different when women are around women. I understand that, you know. When we go out in the tent, in the hut, to bleed, is what you mean?
Starting point is 00:05:32 No, but do you all say poontang a lot? Does that come up a lot? I don't think that word is actually ever even come out of my mouth. And I thi think think thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, you thin, you thin, thin, thi, thi, you thin, thin' thi, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that wo, I, I, I that that that that that that that that that th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thin, I thin, I thin, I thin, I thin, I thin, I'm thin, thin, thin, thin, the. I'm thoan, thea. I'm, thoan, thea. I'm thin, thoan, that word. And also, do you set up elaborate plans for your friend to have to lap dance strangers? You know, that doesn't feel that far-fetched to me. Oh really? Because Jungle Julia is a bitch. Jungle Julia. Yeah. There's a lot going on there. Yeah, I mean that's offensive right. Yeah, it feels that way. But you know how Quentin Tarantino loves dabblin in his racism? I mean, why does he think that's okay? So I have a theory. Okay. Everything from when he was a kid is cool.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Cart blanche, everything. So people just randomly saying the N-word. I mean. Uh, misogyny. Cheeky racism? Yeah, it's cheeky racism. It's very blech. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:44 But it's like, oh, we're just fucking around, it's just a joke, huh? Uncle Julia, what do you got? What are you mad about? Yeah, it's if it's all in thought. Ah, blah. Yeah, blah. Speaking of men with punchable faces. I think I appreciate that about him.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Shit. I appreciate that about him. What him that about that about him that about him that about that about him that about that about him that about him that about him him that about him that about him that about him that about him that about him that about him that about him. that about him. that about him. that about him. that about that about that about that about that about that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. thi. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the th. thi I think he knows he has a punchable face and whenever he acts, he acts as if he knows he has a punchable face. Sure. I appreciate that about him. He's not going to be playing your like hero. No, and he knows it. He knows it. He knows that when you see him you just want to kick them right in the nards.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Even an inglorious bastards? It's a fun movie. If you like watching Nazis die, which you know I do. I do. He plays a character who kills Nazis with a baseball bat. Oh my goodness. And it's pretty fun, but he also knows that he's a monster in that. Yeah. Yes, the chili parlor, I mean, the amount of dialogue that Quentin Tarantino will cram into any scene is insane to me. This movie is just so much of women talking to each other, mostly about men so it doesn't pass the test, but what's the test called? The Bechtel Test? I'm gonna say Beck-Told, but I think that's an engineering company.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Okay, okay. Yeah, it's just so much dialogue. Yeah. So we meet Jungle Julia, who's a radio DJ, and her friend, Shanna, and their friend who's in from out of town, Arlene. Yeah, I like Arlene. Yeah, me too. I like that actor. I don't know her from anything else. Me neither. She's lovely. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like super distinctive look too. Yeah, where did she go? I don't know, where did she come from? Where did she come from? Cotton and Joe.
Starting point is 00:08:33 But what did Cotton and Joe do to cause the narrator to be single for so long? Have I asked that question on this podcast before I had to have? Who is Cotton and I Joe? Am I? Connigh Joe? And why are you cock-blocking the narrator of this song so that he would have been married a long time ago? Oh shit, she's in Medea goes to jail. Well, that's one I haven't seen. Spider-Man too? No. Shadowboxer. No. No. Man of the house? the house, the house, the house, the house, the house, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, is is, is tho, is tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho tho to to to tho to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tho to tho. Who is tho, th jail. Well, that's one I haven't seen. Spider-Man 2? No. Shadowboxer. No. Man of the House, which I think is also a Tyler Perry movie. Am I'm wrong? Am I wrong?
Starting point is 00:09:12 You're right. I'm wrong. Oh, it's not a What do you still live? Timmy Lee Jones? Yeah. Yeah, good for him. Yeah, he's great. That craggy days. He's one of those people that when they show up in a movie, you're like, this movie just got better.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Yeah. Time of Lee Jones is in it. Snap about it. Snap and point. And so they are going out for Jungle Julia's birthday. Is that what it is? Okay. Yeah, they say it kind of briefly at the beginning. It took me until we finally like fixate on a billboard and I'm like, oh she's a DJ. Could figure out what Jungle Julia was for the longest time. She's also wearing the radio station t-shirt which I thought
Starting point is 00:09:59 was very self-agrandized. Hey, you want me to put blues together? I'm not so good at them. No, I'm not blaming you. I'm blaming jungle Julia. I'm too busy searching the ultimate buscadero which is on a one woman's t-shirt. The last, the final, what is it, the last? It's the ultimate holster, which I felt like, ugh, that's a weird thing to call yourself. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's probably some reference to something. Probably.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I really do miss going out and getting drunk with my girlfriends, though. Yeah, for sure. Like that scene where they come sort of stumbling out of the restaurant and they're all laughing and hanging on each other. I was like, wow. I'm so sad. It it it that, it that, it that, it that, it that, it that, it'll that, it'll that's that's that's that's th. It'll that's that's th. It'll thi that's thi that's thi thi thi that's thi thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. Yeah, it'll thi. Yeah, it'll thi. Yeah, it'll thi. Yeah, it'll thi. Yeah, it'll thi, it'll thi, it'll th. Yeah, it'll th. Yeah, it'll th. Yeah, it'll th. Yeah, it'll th. Yeah, it'll th. It'll th. It'll th. It'll th. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thi. It'll thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. It'll to to thea' thea' thea. It'll hanging on each other. I was like, wow! Oh man. I'm so sad. It'll come back. Someday I will get drunk in public again. Do you sing the praises of Quentin Tarantino? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:57 He's really good at directing people to seem like they have long-term relationships. Yes, you believe that these people are friends, like really friends, yeah. Yeah. He's. I I I I I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm so, it. I'm so, it. I'm so, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I. I. It. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It. It'll. It. It'll. It'll. It. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. It'll. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I' th. I' th. I' th. I'm so, it'll th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so th Yes, you believe that these people are friends, like really, really friends. Yeah. Yeah, he's so good at getting them to be like honestly conversational, and honestly conversational with his nonsense dialogue. Totally. Like, even at the end of this, towards the second half of this movie, when we meet the other set of women, yeah. And they have that long, uncut breakfast table tab it's really watchable. That could be really painful. That could be like an episode of sex
Starting point is 00:11:29 in the city. But it's like very watchable. And it's almost like a, it's almost one of his hallmarks. Like, I'm thinking of reservoir dogs, that whole like diner scene where they're talking about tipping and all that stuff. Like, yeah, just, oh man, he's a fucking phenomenal phenomenal d' d' d' d' thi thi. Di. Di. Di. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. theeeeeeeea. thea. theeea. theeea. that's theeeeea. theea. thea. thea. the. the. Like, yeah, just, oh man, he's very good. Yeah, yeah, he is a fucking phenomenal director. Sure, he just has some bad ideas. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like misogyny and racism. Those are bad ideas. I also just don't want him to act and he's acting again in this. Again, but much like Eli Roth, he always knows that he's going to be like the, eh, guy. That's true. I guess appreciating their self-awareness is a step towards enjoying these movies. And I always love actors, or directors that like have a crew that they interact with, like,
Starting point is 00:12:21 you know, like all those 80s horror guys that they're going to name a character Joe Dante, or they're going to like, have Roger Corman in a phone booth or whatever, like all that stuff. Dick Miller's going to star in it. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I just watched the other day with Dick Miller. I saw some movie the other, oh, rock and roll. Oh, nice. And Dick Miller shows up and I was like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th..... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. like going to a taco bar and I was like, man, I want to go to a taco bar. I want to drink beer and eat tacos.
Starting point is 00:12:50 And fall down with my friends. Even like watching Kurt Russell eat those nachos in a very disgusting manner, I was like, man, I want nacho. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, that's the Trace Ambré's gait Oh yeah, yeah. I mean that that's the trace Ambré's gatefold effect right like when you see Mexican food you're like oh fuck I want to eat that now what's going on? I'm like no no. I just don't eat enough nachos. Oh really? Yeah Oh my god now. I'm up your nacho game. I do. I feel like Lucy would love I don't know why I've never made her nacho. It's all finger food. It's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I th th th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm th. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm like. I th. I th. I don't know why I've never made her nachos. It's all finger food. Holy shit! What are we doing? Stop the podcast! I'm making nachos this weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Lucy wake up I made nachos. Get out of bed! Gonna miss the gulloc! Oh my god, she would love it, you're right. Yeah. Yeah. Oh shit. Do we need to, we need to have a nacho club? Yeah. to cut off? Do we need to have nacho club? Yes. But what we don't need to have a club for is Jaeger shots. Because even just hearing the phrase, Yeager shots gives me that feeling behind your jaw where your mouth starts to water, like you're going to throw up. Since memory vomit. Oh, yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:13:57 I accidentally drank a whole bottle of eagromyce, you're no longer cognizant of what you're doing. So you're just putting it down. And I just remember vomiting and technicolour. Like it was gnarly. Oh, yeah. All myself in a bathtub. It was dope. That's one of those nights where I definitely like time travel. I remember sitting down one place and then being naked at that tub throwing off of myself.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Oh God. No idea what happened in the in-between. Just sitting up naked? Was there water in the tub? After threw up on myself, definitely. But where you were sitting naked in the tub, no water barfing. Oh, happy days. This is also a film of deeply low-rise pants and shorts. It's just a butt cracks as far as the eye can see.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just like, it's a celebration of butts. So we meet Rose McGowan again, she's at the bar. Sure. It's like a long, blonde wig that looks reprehensible on her. But I found her delightful in this role. Did you? I really did, yeah. I thought she was kind of floundering out there. I think it was, oh, it's Doom Generation is the first movie I saw her in,
Starting point is 00:15:19 and she's like a snarky shit in that movie. Yeah. And it just like it locked her in for that and she's so good at doing that. See also Jawbreaker. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the first movie I ever saw her in. See also last week's movie like she's so snarky to everybody. I just think I maybe I just didn't like the wig. I think I like Rose McGowan more than I think I do. Sure. Sure. Sure. thrown like, I th. th. th. th. th. th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. thi that that, thathea th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. thea. tho. thea. thea. thea. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. thea. thea. thea. I just don't like that wig. Yeah. And I don't like how she sometimes, I don't know, it's hard to describe. Listeners, why don't you like Rosemagall right in? Listeners, why don't I like Rose McGowan? Fill in the blanks for me. Yeah, she's sitting at the bar. Oh, by the way, uh, uh, uh, uh, Arlene has noticed a black Dodge Challenger, a charger,
Starting point is 00:16:08 muscle car, following them throughout the day. Yes, that's right. And we've also been told that Jungle Julia has set, I'm calling her Jungle Julia because she refers to herself as Jungle Julia and casual conversation. She signs a text message, JJ. Yes! JJ. Yes! That's crazy. It really is. She has set up something on her radio show that if anyone sees her and her friends out and they recite a few lines of Robert Frost poetry to Arlene and call her Butterfly, she has to give them a lap
Starting point is 00:16:43 dance. Everyone thinks it's really funny. to give them a lap dance. Everyone thinks it's really funny. I think that's unbelievably cruel. Yeah. But I don't like being the focus of attention, so... I mean, it doesn't seem like Butterfly slash Arlene really minds it when push comes to show. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they meet a stuntman Mike. Who is this guy? Stuntman Mike. Who's that? He's a stuntman. I mean I can't actually voucher him being a stuntman. He just points it to people
Starting point is 00:17:13 driving cars and says that's him in a movie. But you know. Actual dialogue from this film. I mean another actual dialogue from this film is Rose McGowan saying, sorry, I'm built like a girl, not a black man. Oh, yeah. So, you know, maybe that's why I don't like Rose McGowan. That's her fault. That's Derentino's fault. So they're having this conversation at the bar, her and Kurt Russell. Sure, it's not a man-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-like. It.
Starting point is 00:17:45 he's doing, like, is he flirting? Is he menacing? Is he doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that? I think it's a column A, column B situation? Very frightening. It's very frightening. It's very frightening. It's really, I mean, on top of him having a scar down half of his face. Oh yeah. And he's also just rattling off movies that are being referenced in the movie he's in. Yeah. They're all like 70s driving exploitation films. And at one point somebody calls him Frankenstein, which is David Caradine's character from Death Race 2000. And I'm like, how fucking deep are we going to go?
Starting point is 00:18:24 Also, I'm a fucking nerd for knowing that. Yeah you are you and Quentin Tarantino. He loves that though huh? This is the movie he wanted to make. Yeah. I mean I think it's great like I love 70s exploitation cinema even though it gross, because I grew up on it. Sure. So, like, if it gets people watching, like, those movies, like, what, uh, I can't they, dirty, dirty, merry and something, Larry, like, all these, like, crazy, like, road, exploitation movies, like, road exploitation movies, they're really fun, and they're usually an hour, too long, because they just had to fill up time, th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, th, the time, th, the time, th, the time, the time, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, an hour too long because they just had to fill up time and then everything
Starting point is 00:19:09 would explode at the end and that's where they spent their money. Yeah, it's very much a blind spot for me. I don't think I've ever seen any of these movies. Oh I can't imagine for sure. Yeah. It feels very much like a young dude, a young boy thing boy to do is like watch 70s exploitation films. Yeah, you know young boys in their 70s exploitation films. Young boys of a certain age? Sure. In a certain era I guess, yeah. Stunman Mike's drink of choice is a virgin pina collata. Mm-hmm. It's his big drink. It's his reward drink, I guess, yeah. That just sounds like too much. Why would you go for it if you weren't getting the little tips? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:49 I mean, get a virgin bloody merry if you're doing that, just tomato juice, be delicious. Hot sauce, a little, a little worshisher. A little, little spicy, a little olives in there. Yeah, maybe a little, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery. Yeah, a little celery. Yeah, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little celery, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, little, a little, little, a little, little, a little, little, little, a little, a little, a little, a little, little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, yeah. Every morning, come on, let's do this. Yeah. Throw an egg in it. Oh, Friday, I got it. Um, I also liked when he talks about his brother, Stungain Bob. I mean, that again is the humor that Tarantito does so well. Yeah, I agree strongly with that.
Starting point is 00:20:28 So, he, I don't know, he's arranged to take Rose McGowan home because her date has stood her up. Right. And she doesn't like the other three girls we've mentioned because they went to high school together it seems like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's the aforementioned.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Sorry I'm built like a girl, not a black man. Yeah. Quentin! Yeah, so oh and we get a Zadowichi the blind samurai reference. I saw that and thought lovingly of you and then I thought how you called him the blonde samurai once and I laughed at that. He is blonde. And the beat to Kishay when he died his hair blonde. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was just like, what like 23-year-old woman is talking like? What 23-year-old is talking like this?
Starting point is 00:21:15 No one. No one. Regardless of gender, no one is making Zatowici references. Never. No one in no era. So Kurt Russell recites the lines of poetry to Arlene, and she gives him a lap dance. She's charmed by him, seemingly. He has a very charming face. But when he pulls out the book and he's like, hey, I write down everybody I ever meet,
Starting point is 00:21:40 unfortunately would have to put you in the chicken shit column. It's like Marty McFly, like, don't call me chicken! But this, I mean, as the person watching this movie, we know that he has photographs of these women in the visor of his car, because he's been stalking them, and so their name they're definitely written down in a book. Yeah. Of, I'm going to murder you. Yeah. He's such a cool bad guy. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:22:10 So she gives them this very long lap dance. Oh my excruciatingly long. I plan crawling around on a bar floor to be very upsetting. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Especially in shorts. Your poor bare knees on a wood floor covered in like beer and... Peanut shells? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Terrible. It's saudst. I also like that her friends weren't in there for that. They just stayed outside and got high. They were not in that scene. Did you like that everybody in the bar for that scene was a woman? I did notice that there were a lot of women. I didn't notice it was all women. And every, I think Quentin Tarantino is the only not woman in the bar at that point in time,
Starting point is 00:22:47 because the crazy babysitters from last week's movie are grinding on each other in a corner. Just loving every second of it. Oh my god, I just have extended lap dance scene. Yeah, it is very, very long. It's like, I don't remember what song it was to, but it was to the complete song. Yes, it was. It was like 95 seconds of an oldies. So then they leave, and they go to get in, um, sent me and Mike and Pam, which is Rose McGowan.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Yeah. It's a scary car. What's that hood ornament? Was it a duck? Yes, it is apparently the duck from Bullet, the Steve McQueen movie. Yeah. I mean, this movie is just, it's non-stop.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Yeah. Like, I think everything is a reference to something. Okay. Which is just absurd. But like, I mean the man has an encyclopedic knowledge of 70s Explanage, like 70s cinema, 60s and 70s movies so. But like who is that for? Because no one else has that. It's just for him. It's just for him. No, you're right. This is a movie. Yeah. Didn't these movies come out from like them hanging out and watching movies tog tog tog tog tog tog tog tog to tog to to to to to to to to to th th th th th th th th th th th th th their th. th th to to their their to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. the, they wanted to make... Yeah. Right. Didn't these movies come out from like them hanging out and watching movies together and be like, oh, we should make movies together. We should make a double feature. Yeah. I don't know why we're making them sound like that. It's fine, it's a fine idea. It's a really good idea. I have Greek Quentin. I have Greek one. Thanks, Robert. It was the death rate of 2000.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Ugh! Anyway. A man who famously doesn't sound like that? No, famously. So she goes to get in his car and he's got, he explains that his car has been death-proofed. Right. By stuntmen. So there's like roll cages in it and there is the camera box that's in the car that she has to sit in with like a little tractor seat in it. Yeah, like a little metal tiny seat on a stool stand. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and like the, the plexiglass cage that she's in that just has air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air. F. F. F. F. F. F. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The the. The the. The the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the. the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the lass cage that she's in that just has airholes. Fuck that. And get in, walk the fuck home.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Go get in the car with Jungle Julia and have her take you somewhere. They've been drinking for 12 plus hours. Get in their car. Well, Lana's driving the drug dealer, so it's probably fine. Just suddenly she's going to Lake LBJ. Yes, she left the two friends she came to the bar with and now she's going to Lake LBJ. And seemingly never having scored them the weed that they ordered? No, they're smoking weed on the porch. Oh, that's right, that's right. Yeah, they get pretty blazed up. I kept thinking it was going to be risky to murder Rose McGowan when all these people saw you taking her home, but it turns out it doesn't matter. No, it doesn't matter. I forgot the whole setup of it, I guess.
Starting point is 00:25:48 What do you mean? Just like that he makes the whole thing look like an accident. Oh, for sure. For sure. I do like the, that like, terror-inducing scene if she's, when they're leaving the parking lot. And he says, which way, left her right? And she's like, right. And he's like, oh, man, it was a 50-50 shot. You were going to get scared much later, but now you have to get scared sooner.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Yeah. And then turns left. And she's like, no. And then he just beats her to death with the car. It's insane. He's like slamming over the glass, and she's getting mushed up and, Oy. She's so bloody. She's so bloody. By the time she dies, she's very bloody.
Starting point is 00:26:28 There's a lot of blood by the time she's dead, yeah. Oh my God. And then, but the way, so he kills her and is driving around with her body chasing after the other women. Yeah, it looked like such a nice time just being like drunk and the backseat of a car with the windows down, there's a song you like on. Yeah, yeah. Man.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Right before that air got to be too much and you had to tell them to pull over because you could puke out of the window in the car. Or them. And then flicks his lights on and then we see the crash in slow-mo. Multiple times. I loved that. I love that it showed like each of their fates, even though they were fucking gnarly. So Jungle Julia has her leg hanging out the passenger side window, which just shoots off when he slams
Starting point is 00:27:26 into it. It looks great. Yeah, yeah. Lana just kind of like gets bashed and dies in the front seat. We hardly knew her anyway. She doesn't get a good death. We hardly knew ye. But then the most brutal one is for Butterfly.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Yeah. When the car goes, his car goes over their car, crushing the roof and his tire peels her face off. It's so gross. It's insane. It's insane. I was just like, Greg Nicotero, you've outdone yourself this time. It looks great. All in slowmo, like very, very nice. And the third woman goes through the windshield and lands like several feet. Oh the car. Oh my gosh he flies forever and that's right it's like oh yeah yeah yeah that was really great because you couldn't tell where the mannequin started and where she stopped yeah it looks great and then
Starting point is 00:28:15 then Marley Shelton shows up again right we're in the hospital Dr. Block yeah at some point her cell phone rings I can't remember if it's in the first movie or the second movie, but it's the Kill Bill Ringtown, the, that like, I think it's in the... I don't know, regardless. Yeah. Quentin Tarantino was like, remember the other movie? Everybody like that movie? I made that one.
Starting point is 00:28:36 I made that one. Wow, they all princess died. Yeah. That's a line. That's the sheriff from the other movies and yeah, yeah. They all princess died. Such an edge lord, Quintana. Like I don't give a shit about Royals but like yeah, the lady died in a car accident. That's rough. She had little kids. And to make a punny joke out of it. I mean, whatever. Oh, the sheriff goes into like, he's sure that Kurt Russell killed them, but he can't prove it so he's going to spend all of his free time working on it. Or he's going to spend all of his free time watching NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Yeah, he picks up on, he decides on NASCAR. Yeah. Well, 14 months later, he resurfaces. Yeah. On Lebanon, Tennessee, previously in Texas, now I'm Lebanon, Tennessee. Yep. Where Mary Elizabeth Winstead is dressed like a cheerleader? Yeah. Why though? Because she's in that cheerleader. But they're not making the movie right now. Yeah, but she was in that cheerlea because but but but but but but but but but but but but but but she's their their their their their their their their their the movie right now. Maybe she was in that cheerleader, because butts?
Starting point is 00:29:45 That's insane. They probably make you return the costumes to the set at the end of shooting for a day, so they can be like cleaned or whatever. Her street costume. So silly. She's worn it all night, all morning and all day. Do you like that the movie goes to black and white at this point? I don't. Okay because because it that that that that that that that that that that that that this point. I don't. Okay. Because it kicks back into color shortly thereafter and I just thought but why? Yeah. Like what is the purpose of that? I don't know. I know it's just an artistic choice. Yeah. It's just but why?
Starting point is 00:30:12 Maybe so you could see feet and black and white for a little while. When he brushes against her feet and I just thought about Quentin Tarantino being like, oh, la la la. That was gross. That was a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I'm just the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thin. I the. I the. I thin. I the. I the. I theat thi. I thi. I thi. I'm just just just, that, that was gross, I'm sorry. Which part, you doing that or? Both. Yeah, you were fun. It's so upset. Like the idea of like an unwanted touch like that, and then it just like, it goes on. to be so long.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Yeah, I want to be clear. I'm not saying that. I can sort of see that in some ways because I got some weird things. I get that. Sure, sure, sure, sure, sure. What I'm saying is, using your foot fetish as a weird, a salty thing in movies you make is yucky. And this happens to Rosario Dawson, who has phenomenal hair.
Starting point is 00:31:02 She's a treasure. Oh my god. Those cheekbones. She has, uh, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure. She's a treasure. Oh my god. Those cheekbones. She has, is it Gail Weathers? Is that? Courtney Cox's character from? She has the haircut that I think she was trying to have and scream 23 or whatever one that was. Yes, with those baby bangs. Yeah, totally you're absolutely right about that.
Starting point is 00:31:23 But she's like thicker bangs. The's thi thi thin thin the thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thi thin thin thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi's thi's tho tho tho tho tho tho thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thi. thi. thi. thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's the. the. the. th's just thicker bangs. The thing is thicker bangs. You can't have wispie bangs. And the angle, you gotta have a little bit edgeier than I think Gail Weathers is, yeah. Yeah. And it just looks unreal. She looks smoking. Yeah. Yeah. And it took me forever to realize that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the woman from Scott Pilgim. Yeah. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's the woman. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's got thi. It's got thi. It's got to thi. It's got got got got got got got got to to to to have got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got got. It's to to to to to to to th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's got to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi. thi. It's got lot of good stuff. My husband really has a thing for her. That's fine, she's very cute, very pretty, yeah lovely. I mean this is just a movie like of beautiful women feats and butts. Yep. And cars, and explosions. And dialogue. Jesus and long dialogue. Chases and long dialogue. It was a big deal made about the Italian vogue. Yeah. Which, I, it doesn't come back. I think it was just supposed to like, they're excited about fashion.
Starting point is 00:32:17 So getting an Italian vogue in Lebanon, Tennessee. Okay. Because they're excited about fashion, whereas the other half of their like crew is excited about cars. Right. Oh, I see. Yeah. Yeah, so there's the dichotomy there. Yeah. And they're on their way to pick up Zoe Bell. Yeah. Who was just Zoe Bill? You know what? She's great. She's great. She's a great stun person doing those stunts, she's cool. She's deeply cool. The second time I've seen this movie and it was even more upsetting watching those stunts at this time around. It's so scary!
Starting point is 00:32:51 It's so fucking scary. She's been in a lot of stuff too, cool stunts. Yeah. She was Uma Thurman's for her in this movie and she's like, but that's what I want to be doing? Yeah, sure. You're making me act, which is not what I want to do? She's doing all right. She's fine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean they don't try to make her drop the accent. No. Just let her be from New Dix. Yeah. Yeah. That whole conversation that they're having about like. thia. they. they. me about the new dicks or whatever, like, what dicks are you seeing these days? I liked that. If he's so in love with me, why did he fuck Darryl Hannah's stand in?
Starting point is 00:33:36 Darryl Hanna stand in? He didn't burn you a CD? He made you a tape. 14 years later. How do you even, do you just like make a Spotify playlist and email it to him? Text it to him? I mean, I think you have to make a, you make a tape and give them a download code. Oh my god, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Kids, do you make mixes for like your romantic interests anymore? If so, tell us how you're doing it. I'm interested.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Sure, yeah, yeah. Come on, kids that are listening. Look at our downloads, the age range is like 53 to 79. There's an age range on them? Yeah, somewhere there you can see like the age range of whose. It's not that old. You guys are not 53 to 79. No. Speaking of old though, remember Lebray piercings? I think those went away, huh?
Starting point is 00:34:30 I do. Fergie has so many piercings. We forgot to talk about that. Oh my god, yeah. That was last week's episode. You can't do it. I was like, fuck eyebrow piercings. Remember those? I had an eyebrow ring. I still have a dumbed. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. F. I'm th. F. F. I'm th. F. I'm th. F. F. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. F. F. I'm th. F. I'm th. F. I's. I's. F. F. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm cings, remember those? I had an eyebrow ring. I saw the dumb scar from it. You see that? It looks like shit. What a dumb idea? There's one, they're one of those things that I was like, who saw someone? It was like, yes. That's what I need to get.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Because someone did, and it just wouldn't spread like wildfire. Yeah, it was a mistake all around. I have so many friends with the holes in their lips and their eyebrows and they're Right in the corner of your nose. Yeah, uh, or their Oh, the septum septum. Yeah, yeah, nope a piercing free never had one. Never can we? I've thought about doing it for my 50th. Okay, can we? But not at like a reputable piercedum. It's gonna be like a piercing pagoda. Yeah, I'm. the piercing. I. the piercing. I. I. I. the piercing. I. I. I. I. the. the the. the. the the th. the the th. the the the th. the th. the the the th. th. the th. the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. tooooooooooooooooooooooonene. treececea. treeceoda in the mall. I'm gonna, you're gonna be like, hold my hand. And I'm gonna be like, okay, but I need you to be brave. And I'm gonna let you pick out whatever studs you want. But you're gonna be in charge of cleaning them, that's your responsibility. Sure, sure. Sure.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Then I'll start to stretch my ears. It'd be great. Never too late to stretch your ears. Can you imagine? Anyh who. Anywho. So yeah, they have a long conversation about who's Zoom and who. And there's all these inside, like apparently the crew guy who looks like Duane the Rock Johnson is a reference to a guy who worked on Kill Bill who they called the Rock because he looked
Starting point is 00:36:09 like Dway and the Rock Johnson. Was he really an electrician named Bruce? Yeah, I believe so. So it's just like all of these, like, his inside jokes have inside jokes. They're just like, the inside jokes, like, the inside jokes. they're just like, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. nerds get to go ballistic on all the shit that he's referencing. Totally. It's like little Easter eggs to find. Exactly. And then Quentin Tarentino nerds get to go ballistic on that stuff. So yeah, I mean, I don't mind all of that, like.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Yeah. But then in the scene you're also like, I don't know if you've noticed, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, th to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the t And her dialogue is written for a black person. From the perspective of Quentin Tarantino. As a black woman. A tough talking black woman. Quentin, you're not. Just kudos to him for once, giving the n-word to a black character to say over and over again. Fair enough. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. And at some point I felt like the actress was like, okay, I, yes, I know I get it. I get it. I get what you're doing. Yeah. We're good. Can I just, okay? She repeats a lot of lines though. Yeah. Like, uh, she had how much later she really wants to bust a nut in this mother fucker? Missy and I had a conversation about that we should get to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the th th th the th the the the the the the th th the the the the the actress the th the actress the actress th the the the the the the the actress the actress thi thi thi th. the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress like the actress like the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress the actress th th th th th th th th th th th th th the like the like the like the the that that that that that we should that that the the that tho the the the the the tho the the the a the a that. th bust a nut in this motherfucker. Missy and I had a conversation about that that we should get to later. I'm excited for it. Did you like that it was weird like, like, almost like our gento gobblety music during like the, the foot-touching scene, I feel like there was like...
Starting point is 00:37:41 It was, yeah, very, like a very creepy score yeah for a very creepy thing yeah so Zoe Bell has found an ad for a 1970 Dodge Challenger for sale and she wants to go test drive it yeah yeah because she because she wants to do Vanishing Point, right, which is a movie I suppose? Yeah, it's another one of those driving exploitation films, yes. Which Stuntman Mike has told us in the earlier segment that he was the stuntman on. Right, right. And that was Dirty Mary, crazy Larry. I couldn't think of Larry's qualifier earlier. Dirty Mary, Harry, Larry. Hey! oh, sorry, that's Harry, Carrie.
Starting point is 00:38:27 So as they go to look at the car, Zoe's really excited, Zoe Bell's really excited about it, and she's like, we got to do ships mast, and there's like a five minute conversation about not ever doing ships mast again. Without explaining what ships mast is. Which is a little irritating. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And also, isn't she jetla lag? She just landed. They just picked her up at the airport. Can you, can you imagine a world where you're like, hey, hey, I want to go drive that car so that you can drive that car and I can lay on the fucking hood of it at 70 miles an hour? She never gets to drive it. No, she's not a car does she drive the car. She's not a car driver. She's a car rider on the hood of. Bat shit. And at this point where they're having this conversation, they're
Starting point is 00:39:14 making Tobacco Road and Tom Jode references and I'm like, who is talking like this in 9th-Terrong 2007. No, beautiful young women. It's really just Quentin Tarantino's wet dream, isn't it? Beautiful young women talking about 70s exploitation cinema and casual conversation. Making references for him. Yeah. So the guy, they leave Rosario Dawson, yeah. Yeah, says that she wants to go with him and she's going to imply to the owner of the car that Mary Elizabeth Winstead will suck his dick. Yeah, and then just leaves her. Yeah, they wake her up because she's fallen
Starting point is 00:39:57 asleep in a chair. They're in the car. And say, hey, we're leaving, this is Jasper. Yeah, he's just standing in front of her. Her last line of this movie is Gulp. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the owner. the owner. And their their their their their their their their the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. the owner. And the owner. And the owner. And the owner. And the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th, this is Jasper. Yeah, he's just standing in front of her. Her last line of this movie is, golp. Yeah. And I was like, oh, this is where this movie becomes a fucking nightmare for a character that we never see a game. Yeah, no word from her ever again.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I do like that he says, what's a cheerleader movie? And Rosario Dawson says a movie. about cheerleaders. She's so good. Yeah, she is. She's so snappy. I wish I could be that snappy. She's a real time I lead Jones. Whenever she shows up in anything, I'm like, this just got better.
Starting point is 00:40:34 So yeah, they hook their belts to the door. Kim won't give up her belt so she makes Dario Argento. Wow, Rosario Dosson and Dario Argento. I've never seen them in the same room. Those baby things would be so much further back. She's just full of self-loathing. Pushing her own face through a window. So she takes the Prada belt and like hooks it to the doors. Apparently those that car did not have framed doors. The windows would have just gone up and
Starting point is 00:41:12 down. So they had to put those on there so that they could do ships mast. I was reading about it on the internet. That's a fascinating story. Mm-hmm. Car guys are like, I already knew that. Actually car guys hung up because we said that we didn't like cars. See, yeah, she gets out on the hood and they started driving. Yeah, she's basically just like on her back with her arms, akimbo. Yeah, giggling. Akimbo? Akimbo? Yeah, a kim. Yeah, just loving her life as Kim drives really fast down like dirt roads. Country roads. Sucks. And meanwhile, this whole time through the entire fucking movie, Kurt Russell has been
Starting point is 00:41:52 peeping him. Oh yeah. He's got binoculars, he's peeping and peeping and peeping. Such a peeper. With his peeper. With the peeper. And here he shows up. Yeah, because now he's going to be decided, now's the time to murder them. Which he does by trying to wreck their car and trying to knock Zoe Bell off of it.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Yeah. It's horrible. It's terrifying. The subtitle said, skin skids on hood. Oh wow, I didn't notice that. Yeah. When she turns around and she's facing Kim, and she's just yelling yelling, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thoes, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tho, and she's to tho, and she's th. th, and she's th, and she's th, and she's th, and she's th. th. th. tho, and she's tho, and she's tho, and she's thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooes, and she's the, and she's facing Kim and she's just yelling, I'm so scared Kim. Yeah. That's like really upsetting. It is really upsetting. But another line that she says when she's got her face in the windshield is, I'm sorry I called you a black bitch.
Starting point is 00:42:33 And it's like, well, if you knew it was wrong, why did you write it, Quentin, I do. I do. He just can't help himself. Man, she is cool as hell though. Those stunts are so cool. Yeah. Bad shit. Yeah. When she's putting on her leather jacket, you know, for protection, and her friends like, no, I get to wear the jacket, she's only got leather gloves, a baby tea and low-rise jeans on. It's insane. It's insane. But yeah, she's seriously on the hood of a car, no bullshit, spinning around with no safety net. How you do that? You've got to be fearless, whatever that is. Was her butt like attached to the hood in some way? It had to have been. No, I think she was just out there. No. She's got an insane strength. She does look at her, she's grabbing like, she's grabbing the air intakes and she has no. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. She's to. She's to. She's got an insane strength. She does look like, there's one point where she's like, she's grabbing like the air intakes and she has her foot hooked on the hood.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Yeah. To hold herself in place. Sheesh. I was like, this is gross and I hate it and I love watching it. It's so exciting. It is so exciting. So he's ramming them and every time he gets close enough to Zoe Bell, she's kicking his car. I feel like it's gonna do something. But I just love that idea of like, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you.
Starting point is 00:43:48 I think your stupid car. So he, oh I'm sorry. I love that scene where his car sort of like disappears in the dust and then turns around and reemerges. I thought that was awesome. Yeah, I loved it. I love the way the shot of like the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot shot shot shot shot shot shot the shot the shot the shot shot shot the shot shot shot shot shot shot shot the shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot shot the shot shot shot. the shot. the shot shot. the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot of the shot of the shot of the shot. the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the shot the way the shot of like they go off on another country road, which they're hoping connects back up, and he's like relieved. This is after like they shoot him at one point. Oh yes, there's a check-offs gun in this movie. Yeah. And they shoot him and then he's like driving away and he's like, oh finally I got away from them. And then the camera like slowly angles up. And you see them coming up over the rid. the ri. the ri. the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I. their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I's like, their. I's like, their. I's like, their. their. their. their. this. this is. this. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's. I. I's. I. I'm. I'm the the the the the th. I'm th. It. I'm the the the the th. I'm the the the the the the the the th. S. I'm the the the the the over the ridge. It's so cool. It is so cool. They had told Rosario Dawson to maybe get out of the car and she says fuck that shit let's kill this bastard which is so hard. I love that this this
Starting point is 00:44:35 also like of all the things that this film is doing it's doing a rape revenge movie without the rape part of it. And. And so that's like, when they're beating the shit out of it, or even when they decide to go kill him and they're all like joyous about it. They're so psyched to kill him. And Zoe Bell like starts kicking trash and finds a pipe, and she's like, yeah, I'm gonna use this. This'll do. Yeah, they've shot him and he has this like great freak out scene about pouring liquor
Starting point is 00:45:05 into the wound. Just screaming and howling in that Kurt Russell way. But he's crying like a baby too. Like the love him. I like that idea of like the like the bully that as soon as he gets turned on. I was like, no, I didn't want to do that. Yeah, it hurts. Uh huh. It just keeps keeps keeps saying saying saying saying saying saying saying saying tha s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s thiii thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. thi they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I've thi. I've thi. I've they've they've they've they've they've they've they yet? Yeah it hurts! Uh-huh. And Kim just keeps saying I want to bust a nut in this bitch, mother fucker.
Starting point is 00:45:29 So, Missy and I talked about this, and I was like, no woman has ever talked like that. She's like, well, they are in like a hyper-masculine world of being like stunt people and in that world. I was like, maybe. What does she have to say to say to say to say to say to say to say to say to say to say tha tha th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th do th do tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thu thu thu thu tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th do th do th do th do th do th do th do th do th do th do thi thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu does she have to say it 15 times? I'm gonna bust a nut! I'm gonna bust a nut! You don't actually really do that. Also then they get on the regular highway and this poor motorcycle guy goes right into a building and definitely dies. I love that they leave the dirt roads and end up on a real highway. I think that's great. And there's just like all these minivans going the speed limit, like getting kind of bumped.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Yeah, all the cars on the highway are like total like sedans and mom cars and like some SUVs. Not a cool car, amongst them. They just keep hitting and hitting and hitting like they're gonna have to buy that challenger. And my car. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, th. And, the. And, the th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, the th. And, th. And, thi. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, th. And, th. And, the. And, the. They just keep hitting and hitting and hitting like they're gonna have to buy that challenger. Yeah. And my Corolla could never withstand that level of damage. That's why you need those old-school American Steelmobiles. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, person riding a bicycle hit my Corola and did a lot of damage. Five grand worth. Kurt Russell on a bike. I did not hit the cyclist, the cyclist hit me. There's something just very satisfying though about his fear in these end scenes where they're like chasing him down and he's like please no it's so satisfying. Yeah his fear and their surety about like yeah we're gonna fucking kill this dude. And then they do. Yeah. That scene of where they make his car flip. Yes it's so good. Oh there's also then they do. Yeah, that scene of where they they make his car flip.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Yes, it's so good. Oh, there's also the Dukes of Hazard jump that they do where they jump like a pile of dirt at one point. They had to. Yeah. I mean I was reading like on IMDB and like the wheels on one of the one of the cars are the same wheels that were on the General Lee and the Dukes had, like, I mean, it's the minutia of references in this thing. I just like, I imagine Quentino laying awake and I'm like, how don't we get the wheels? Just like coming up with little tiny details and like writing them down in a notebook and be like, hey, hey, ha ha! I want to get an all in the family the family the family the family the family the f f f f-fail-fail-a-joah! I love Lucy, I love Lucy, where can I put that in? So like, they get him to flip, he's hanging out of his car, and he's like, no, I'm just joking, guys, come on!
Starting point is 00:47:54 He's just having fun. And the they kick him to the ground. Yeah. And is that where, oh that's, that it says the end and they're all like punching in the air. Wait, this is, wait, go ahead. And doesn't it cut back? And Rosario Dawson puts her heel into his face and crushes his skull? Her extremely kicky boots? Yeah, yeah. The heel of her e'errific. the heel of her the thkikikikikikikikikikikikikiki. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. they they's they're all, thi. they're all, thi. they're all, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. she has just like hiked her skirt all the way up so her legs are totally free to kick his ass. She's tied it into shorts. It's amazing. And I was like yes you wanted to see who butts and you also wanted to know that she's gonna beat the shit out of this dude. So good. It's so satisfying. She can kick so high and so high and so hard. She crushed Kurt Russell's, that's the last time he was ever in a movie. I know, I'm sad that she killed my boyfriend and your boyfriend too.
Starting point is 00:48:47 Apparently the his, that like samurai shirt that he wears in Big Trouble in Little China is hanging up in one of the bars in this movie. Oh, that's just even more references and layers. Yeah, well that's one that I like. Yeah, and the earliest one that I get. I mean I do like it, but I also get it. Why haven't we done that movie yet? I don't know. We can do it on the action movie podcast. Sure. It's sure. That's true. It's sure. Although we only do the only we only do John Carpenter movies that you end up not liking. I love it. I know. I love it. I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho. tho. the th. the. tho th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. I the. the. I thea. thea. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the first time I saw this movie, I remember liking the Robert Rodriguez movie more than I actually liked it when I watched it this time. And I remember liking the Quentin Tarantino movie less than I actually liked it this time. I loved it.
Starting point is 00:49:33 I had a really nice time watching it. I'm going to give it an eight. Oh, wow. Yeah. I'm, but that's not right, but Because there's so much that he shouldn't like about this movie, but it's so fucking watchable. It is so watchable. And it's such, the reward at the end, is so nice. Because this is really a slow burn, like, there's two halves of the film. And the first half is a very slow burn to the end of the first half, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, is th, is th, is th, is th, is very th, is very th, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is very, is a very, is a very, is a very, to, to, to, and, to, and, and, and, to, and, and, to, and, and, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to a very slow burn to the end of the first half, which happens very cool and very violent, but happens very quickly. And then the second half is just like really a lot of talking.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's so, yeah. The payoffs are so big. Yeah, yeah. I thought you said the pants are so big. No, they're not. Now the teeny, teeny tiny pants. You're thinking of, uh, can hardly wait again. Just always thinking about Kenny Fisher every minute of the day.
Starting point is 00:50:32 But it's like, it's such a, um, yeah, the payoff is so good, and it's such a good homage to the things that he's paying homage to, which are Legion. Yeah, the the leg the leg the leg the leg the leg thion. Yeah, thion. Yeah, thian. Yeah, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, that's that's like, that's like, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the. the. that's, that's, the. that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's that's, that's th he's paying homage to, which are Legion. Yeah. There's so many things that he's referencing. I feel like an eighth solid, for sure. Yeah, yeah. Well, that was a good time. Yeah, I'm glad that we did that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:55 All right, well, I guess I'll see you, I'll see you, and see you later. This is the doors! Making a doors reference should automatically disqualify me from ever doing this podcast again. That's one of those things where you're like, oh I know that fuck it's the doors! Yeah, exactly. That's how the doors get you. Why do I hate the doors though? Yeah, I guess you're a human being. Fair.
Starting point is 00:51:21 It's a Bruce McGovern and the Doors. It just baffles me as to why I don't like them. Guys, why doesn't Katie like the doors? Right in. Oh, Katie, can I read your review?
