Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello Katie. Hello Alan, how are you? As you can tell by the sound of my voice, I'm shitty. How are you? You are? You are? Shetty. You sound like shit, my friend. I got the vid, man. He's got the vid, baby's.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Uh, as you could the vid, the vid. the bid, baby's,. I got the VID man. He's got the VID. Babies, he's got the VID. Coco VID. God, that sounds so much cooler. So much cooler. It's because it sounds like a wrestler from the 80s. Yes, it's like Coco Beware. Mm-hmm. With his parrot. Oh, yeah. Hey, I read on Reddit this morning that Rick Flair was in a bar in Colorado and had a couple of like vodka sodas and then tipped $450. Wow. Yeah. Rick Flair. Living the life. Woo. Hey that's nice. That's nice. You want to hear a nice thing? That's a nice thing. Yeah. Yeah. He's out there, he's spreading joy.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Now that he's an old man and no longer, I guess, a sex pest anymore? Oh, I'm sure he's still a sex pest. These ideas are not owned by World Ambulance, just me personally. What are we doing? Yeah. Well, we're here to talk about a movie called Session 9 that's been requested many times. And why? I don't know. I would love to talk to the people who requested this movie.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I know that Perry really loves this movie and I meant to reach out to him and be like, but why? But I forgot. It's not old enough for the people I know who have suggested it to have seen it when they were children. Yeah, there's no like nostalgia for it. It's from 2001, the year I graduated high school. Can I read you my first note? Sure. God damn I love meatball subs. Oh, tell me what you had. I was eating a meatball sub at the beginning of this movie. Where, what meatball? Uh, I think it was a tradetermo. thrown. the the the th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the that. the the the the the the the the the the the the year, the year, the year, the year, th. the year, the year, th. th. th. th. th. the year, the year, the year, the year, the year the year the year the year the year I the year I the year the year the year the year the year, the year, the year, the year. the year, the year. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. theat. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. the. the. the. th vegetarian meatball. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. What kind of cheese you use on a meatball sub? Provolone is the way to go.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Mozarella is a mistake. It's too stringy. You don't want a pizza. You don't want a pizza. Yeah. Because I'm not going to put shredded mozzarella on the top of the meatball. It's going th. It's. It's. I of my meatball sub. It's going to go everywhere. I just want a nice layer of provolone to hold the whole thing together. Yeah, I love provolone.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Yeah. A. C.A.B. though, all cheeses are beautiful. I thought you were going to like blow my mind and tell me that a provolone. In provolone. In provolone Italy, this was invented for the police. They used to beat criminals with it. That's why it comes in a long tube. I do love those long fucking tubes though. Oh I'm so excited. I went in on a cheese wheel with some friends. What kind of cheese? Blue cheese. Hell yeah. A wheel of blue cheese. Like, I feel like that's the most 50-year-old bullshit I could get involved in. I mean, you're gonna have to eat it fast.
Starting point is 00:03:10 How much blue cheese are you getting out of this wheel? Uh-huh, a quarter of a wheel? So a lot? That's a lot of blue cheese! Yeah, yeah. I'm the only one. . Cool, I'm the only one in the house can eat it. Yeah, I'll come over and eat it with you. I love that. We'll just eat it by the handful.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Just like an apple. Yes. All right, session nine. Session nine. I had definitely seen the first half of this at least, but then when I re-watched it, I barely remembered it. Yeah, I've seen the entirety of the movie and I remembered it precisely and was still upset that I watched it again. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Spoiler alert, I hated this movie. Yeah, I mean, I feel like it had some good elements, but it, well, we'll get there. We meet Gordy, Gordon, who has a baby and seems really old for it. And I love that actor, Peter Mullin. Yeah, he's in a lot of stuff. If he shows up in a thing, you know shit has gone like sideways. I remember him from like train spotting. Yeah, he's a mother superior in train spotting. Yeah, and he was in, I guess he was in Brave Heart, which of course I've never seen and will never see.
Starting point is 00:04:22 No. No. I ain't seen it either. Really? Somehow I'm a man in America in my 50s and I've never seen Brave Heart. Can we make a pact to each other right here right now that we will never watch Braveheart? Yeah. All right, pinky swear over the internet. Poop. And it also has Brendan Sexton the Thirdrd, whom I also love the kid from Welcome to the
Starting point is 00:04:46 Dollhouse and every time he shows up you're like, yeah, this fucking guy. See I have the opposite reaction because I like the thing that's seared into my memory of him is from that movie Boys Don't Cry. Oh yeah. Where he is a bad, bad, bad, bad person. Well, I mean he's always a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad person. He, well, I mean, he's always a bad, bad, bad person, but... Sure. Except for this movie, where he is just a two-legged duffist.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so Gordon and Phil show up at Danvers Mental Hospital, which is the mental hospital that Arkham Asylum is based on for all you Lovecraft and Batman heads. Oh cool. Yeah. I don't think that I realize that both properties used Arkham. How can Batman do that if Lovecraft already did it? I think the Batman is a nod to Lovecraft. I don't know about that. No? I know, I know my answer is no. You finally have a firm opinion on Batman. You finally have a firm opinion on Batman. I have another firm opinion on Batman. I have another firm opinion on Batman.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Yeah. I like Michael Keaton. Sure, yeah. And I like that first movie. Yeah, that first Batman movie with Michael Keaton. Yeah. I like the second one. Ah, who's in the second one?
Starting point is 00:06:01 That would be a cat woman played by Michelle. Oh yeah yeah yeah I've seen that one far less but Penguin. Yeah I'll re-watch that I'd give that a re-watch and I think Christopher Walken's in it too. Is it? Oh cool. Good times. Good times. Good time. Good, see I know Batman. Oh look at you. You're practically a Batman yourself. I practically. Okay, so Gordon is the owner of an asbestos abatement company. And he has his right hand is David Caruso. I'm very sorry for his right hand. Why? Because David Caruso sucks. David Caruso has a face that says, don't trust me.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And an acting ability that says how to like continue to get jobs. Yeah. We get taken on a tour. First we meet the security guard who has like lots of information that's very helpful to later in the movie like the Chris Farley character in Wain's World. He is the information dump, yeah. And he comes back and does it a second time, which I thought was hilarious. He has even more in-depth information the second time about like patients that were there like, yeah, you're a security guard. You're making $7.25 an hour. You don't give a shit about this place.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Dude. It is a cool-ass building, though. Yeah, and terrifying. Oh, wait. So it's shaped like a bat. Is that Batman? I wonder if that's why they were drawn to it. Batman? Batman? I figured it out.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Look at me. Oh my God, you are a detective of Detective Comics. I, I, like, which is the comic book company that Batman came from. Oh, okay. So we also meet the shitty real estate developer. It's always a shitty real estate developer. Yeah, I couldn't figure out that guy's job. I think he was trying to, he wanted to level this and put in a Walmart, which I don't think would have been that profitable, but instead he is, because that would be really expensive to demo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But instead he is, I don't know what he's going to do with it.
Starting point is 00:08:24 We're never told. I assume lofts. I don't know. Lofts, yeah, probably lofts. Like, why would- you want to stay where nightmares are made? Why would he buy this building? Who can say? So he's giving them a tour of it? And like, at one point, David Caruso is like, and it? thi? thi? thi? thu? thu, and it, and it, and it, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, I tho, I'm tho, I'm thu. tho, I'm tho, I'm tho, I'm tho, I's. tho, I's. tho, I. tho, I. tho. tho. th. th. th. I. I. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I, I. I, I. I. I, I, I. I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. too. too. too. too. too. toe. too. toe. toe. t t th he's giving them a tour of it and like at one point David Caruso is like, what
Starting point is 00:08:45 the fuck is this? And it's literally just a tub of water? It's like, well, that's not that insane. Like, what is it? Why is it water looking at me like that? It just hasn't been drained for a long time, David Caruso. I wish there was a the the the the the the th a th, th, th, th, thu thu thu thu thu th thu thu thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus. thus. thus thus. thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus. And it was literally just literally thu, and it was just literally thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu thu thu thu thu thi thi thi thi thi thi thu thi thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu th he's terrified of baths? He looks like the kind of man who would be, frankly. Bads are for women. Children. We're told that the furthest away, so the building is shaped like a bat. The staff area was in the middle, the body of the bat, and then there were two wings, one for women, one for men,
Starting point is 00:09:21 and the most dangerous of patients were kept in the tip as far away from the staff as possible. Listen, I've never worked at a mental hospital. I've never worked at a regular hospital, and I've never worked with dangerous people other than a couple weirdos when I work construction. And Republicans at your current job. Sure. You want to keep them closer so you can watch them, right? You don't want them further away so th so th so th th th th so th th th th th th their th their their their their their their their th their their their the Sure. You want to keep them closer so you can watch them, right? You don't want them further away so they're
Starting point is 00:09:48 doing things to people? I mean it seems to be about a mile from the staff building to the tip. I feel like that's not smart. No wonder this place got to the toa too the too'ned to. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. to to a chair at the end of a dark hallway that he can't walk to because the floor is rotted out, I guess. And I'm not sure what that chair comes back, it's also the poster art for the film, but I'm not really sure what that is meant to symbolize or why that's like a key element to this. I feel like that chair is there the tha thia thua thia thua thua th. th. th. th. thi thi th. thi thi thi thi thi that that that that, that, that, that, that, the the tho, that, that, the. the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that that that the the the the theat the theat the theeeee theeeat thee thee theeeee th this? I feel like that chair is there to go, oh, you just don't get it, do you? You just don't get the chair, right? I mean, the chair is like, obviously.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Oh, okay. I don't get it. I don't get it. Like, is this a movie about demonic possession? Is it how parenting is a bad idea when you're in your 60s? Is it? Like, what is the deal? I don't know. There's definitely some element of like, we are all capable of terrible things that are deep
Starting point is 00:10:52 within us, right? Sure. What's the chair got to do with it? What's the chair got to do? I get, you know, because that'sthe the sessions took place right? Oh, maybe okay. Yeah Let's go with that and Gordon hears a voice say hello Gordon He sure does So that's the thing that makes me think that like Simon. that like Simon. that like Simon? So that's the thing that makes me think that like Simon. that like? the the the the things? the? the? the the they, th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Okay. Okay. Because at the end, I think it says something about like Simon can get it.
Starting point is 00:11:26 When we're listening to Simon speak, he says he can like attach himself to the weak and vulnerable. Right, right. So. But after Gordon hears him, here's the, hello, Gordon. David Caruso comes in and says, Gordy, it's me man, come on. And then I thought, has Gordon been hearing voices for a long time? Because why else would you say it's me to your friend that you were with just a moment ago when you're the only people in there besides the developer? Who can say?
Starting point is 00:11:54 Okay, great, thanks. I think he had been calling Gordon for a while. Because like they sort of like, you've had been to Gordo the the to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go. Gordo. Gordo. Gordo. I. I to they sort of like you've hit the hello Gordo and it's sort of like melded into Gordo at one point. That's yeah but why would you say it's me obviously it's you you're the only other hearing. Oh because he's Mario. It's a me. David Caruso. Also there's graffiti on the wall behind him and it just says Sabbath and then there's tits and a big old weiner. Yeah I love that. I that. I the the the the graffiti. T the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the the th. It's the the the the the thee. It's the the the the thi the the. It's the thi the the. It's the. It's th. It on the wall behind him and it just says Sabbath and then there's tits and a big old wiener. Yeah, I love that. The graffiti of this movie fucking rules. It rules. There's one pipe that just says Satan rule. Yes, I wrote that down and I said, Satan does in fact rule. It's so sad. I love the things that teens will spray paint. Oh yeah. I mean it's just the world is their canvas. So we learned that that Gordon is extremely white worn out and his wife has
Starting point is 00:12:50 wiped out because they have a newborn and as we know that is exhausting. And their newborn seems like she sucks. Yeah yeah not a cool kid. I had a shitty baby too. I understand. Katie, she's right there. She's a great seven-year-old. She was a shit-ass baby. Sure. Yeah, and I tell her that all the time. Someday I'm going to die and she's going to listen to these and she's going to be like,
Starting point is 00:13:18 my mother was a bitch. And then, hello, Gordo. Hello, Gordo. We also get a clip of a newspaper headline that just says night people and has five men in caskets. Yeah. What is that? Who knows? Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:35 This film, but like, I think, so what I can understand, the person who made this film was fascinated with Danvers Mental Hospital. Okay. So I think they are trying to put in like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, their, their, their, I think they are trying to put in like everything they know about it. Okay. But they're like they're like they're like that guy that you work with it's like gonna train you on something and he's like well yeah you just do that you just do the Excel spreadsheet then you move on and you're like well I don't know what that thing. I don't know what that that. I that is is that is that is that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th that that that that that that thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I don't thi. thi. I don't know th. I don't th. I th. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. Right. The guy who made this movie also made the machinist that movie workers' veil gets super skinny, yeah, which is like a great movie, right?
Starting point is 00:14:10 I haven't seen it either. But I know it's well regarded. It's Brad Anderson. Yeah. Yeah. Ah, I see. I don't know about that. I did like that Phil keeps calling the one, the guy Hank a dickhead. Yeah, you like that? So yeah, we've got the rest of the crew.
Starting point is 00:14:30 There's Hank who has stolen David Caruso's girlfriend and that seems to be his defining characteristic. Yeah, that and that shitty mustache. I do like the mustache though. I think I'm finding out that I like mustaches and I think it's upsetting. You're gonna love Deadwood. I'm not gonna watch Deadwood, Alan. That mustache is all over Deadwood. I can't, I just can't start something new. This is it for me. I've got, I've got like 50, 60 years left on this planet. I couldn't possibly. If I have to live to 100, I'mto be fucking angry. I'm making you do it.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Just so I can watch Deadwood and the wire. Yeah. You know what, this winter, I know I say this every year, this winter I'm going to watch the wire. You're not. No. I think I would like it. Oh, you would love it. It's so hard to be me. It's hard to be this stupid.
Starting point is 00:15:28 So we see Gordon going home, and he has Oreo cookies and roses for his wife, we assume. And a jar of peanut butter. Right, as you do. You know, because pregnant women, they love eating weird foods after they're pregnant. Postpart of Bina Butter? Yeah. But so he goes, we don't see him going to the house, but we like, see her go in, we see a pot of boiling water on the stove, and then it cuts to black and we hear, oh, what are the
Starting point is 00:15:59 flowers for? Are they for me? Screams! Yeah. And what this movie presupposes is we all don't understand what just happened. I didn't understand what just happened. Oh really? No. No, because I didn't care enough to think about it I guess. There go. But yeah I mean, all right, fair enough. When it happens like the third time, I was like, okay, I see now. In the script, it said this one's for Katie. This one is for the dummies out there in the back.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Okay, so that, so we've got, wait, we were introducing the rest of the crew. We've got Hank. Oh, sorry, sorry. Mike, who's a book boy.. looks like a weird Vincent Donofrio. He does. Yeah, he's got Vinny Dinaf vibes. And then they've hired a new guy, which is Brendan Sexton the third. Jeff, I think.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Jeff. These guys names are like Mike Jeff, Greg. I don't know what their fucking names are. There's a dude names. Mike, Jeff, Hank, Gordon. I can't keep that straight. They went to a Boston name generator here. Yeah, they did.
Starting point is 00:17:12 So Brendan Sexton III has this terrible mullet, which was weird for the time, but very fashionable right now. Yeah. He's just like 23 years ahead of his time. I went to the Skull Fest recently, which is where I got this delightful case of Coco-Vid. And there were so many skullets there, it boggled my mind. Are you familiar with the scullet? Describe a skullet for those of our listeners who may not be.
Starting point is 00:17:39 You have shaved your head except for the back quarter of it is long hair and or dreadlocks. Yeah. Yeah. It's a it's a choice. It's a choice and I feel a commitment. Because your only other choice is to bick the whole thing. When I was a kid, the only person I knew who had that hair cut was like the one dude I hung out with it tried lighting a cigarette off of a bonfire. Oh my god. So he had that hair cut because his hair went away? Yeah, I mean at that point. Yeah, you've given up. Yeah, don't feel bad for me. Turn into a Nazi skinhead.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Oh, do you think it was because he had to have a skull it? I think it's because he's a moron. Yeah, you don't. Yeah, no, no. You don't. No, you don't. So we, after we've met the crew, we learned that they, initially they're gonna do the job in three weeks and then it's down to two weeks and now Gordon has gotten it down to one week that they're gonna do it with a $10,000 bonus. Because he really needs this job. For what? So his wife will take him back? I... But she won't, because she can't?
Starting point is 00:18:49 Here's the crazy thing. Yeah. Is that we're told that he's been losing jobs, like later in the movie, David Caruso tells us that they've been losing jobs left and right because of the baby? Yeah. That doesn't make a lick of sense. The baby keeps calling in and underbidding. Babies are such fucking assholes. Babies calling it as like, I don't know, I'll do it for like three cookies and a nap?
Starting point is 00:19:19 What this movie presupposes. I mean, men definitely get baby, postpartum depression, too. Sure. But like, this whole movie, everything bad that happens in this movie is blamed on that baby. She's just sad. She probably has colic. She can't tell you, her tum-tum hurts. Yeah, it's wild. That's just very strange. I was like, is the message. I was like, the message. I was like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was like, I, I, I, I, I, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, you, you, you, you, the, the, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, the baby. the baby. the baby. the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, the the th. Dep, th. Dep, th. Dep, th. Dep, th. Dep, th. Dep, th. th. Dep, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. ic. She can't tell you her tum-tum hurts. Yeah, it's wild. That's just very strange. I was like, is the message of this movie that men struggle after babies too? Because I think that's a fair message. But also, like, is that the message?
Starting point is 00:19:56 I almost wish that there was a female character just to sort of like, te some of this stuff to like kind of like I don't like give context to this maybe or something yeah the whole thing the whole thing the whole thing yeah so we learned from a book boy Mike yeah that this place was shut down the exposition exposition security guard is hanging out with them as well. And we learned that they was shut down because of Patricia Willard and her satanic ritual abuse charges against her parents. This was real.
Starting point is 00:20:36 This really happened, yeah. For this particular woman? I mean, I know that this was part of the satanic panic was like people believing that they had been abused and tearing apart families and things like like............... this this this this th. this th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And th. th. th. And th. thi. And thi. thi. thi. thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And this this this this this this this this this this this this this thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And the satanic panic was like people believing that they had been abused and, you know, tearing apart families and things like that. Right, for sure. But did this woman exist and was she at Danvers? Oh, that I do not know. I bet, because this guy just wants to read you the history of Danvers.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Yeah. Because check out what I know. Well, what's that the famous book about the Canadian girl, the... Michelle remembers? Yes, thank you. Which kicked off the whole like repressed memory movement. I'm looking at her. Satanic ritual obese. Yeah, that was all a fucking weird lie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:17 It was all implanted by the, the, the head shrink. Yeah, are you looking at Patricia Willard? Yeah, she's not a real shrink. Yeah. Yeah. Are you looking at Patricia Willard? Yeah, she's not a real person. Okay. The fictional... That would be kind of fucked up. Yeah, I really would. If they included that. Yeah, you're right about that. The fictional scandal is based on, I can't tell because IMDB cut it off. I guess I'll never know. Click through. Click through. I don't think so, sir. It's just, it's really hard. It's to to be the th. It's th. It's th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's really th. It's th. It's just, it's really hard for me. We're doing a Sunday morning record, there's no clicking through. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:50 See, yeah, we go into the whole satanic panic stuff and all the repressed memory stuff. Which is good, I'm here for it. I find that what it's saying? I think, my takeaway was that Simon is a demon. What about Billy? That's inhabiting people. Okay. What a, what a, what a, uh, maybe mental illness was the real demon all along?
Starting point is 00:22:22 Maybe. Because she also has Billy who seems like a pal. Yeah, little buddy Billy. Oh my god. But also like I don't know how much you remember or know about like when these places got shut down. I don't remember now. Yeah I guess you, sorry, you would have been one. I had other shit on my mind like crying incessantly. And your parents not understanding you. Yeah, that would continue. There was a famous Geraldo Rivera did an expose of a mental hospital and the conditions were like like barbaric. They were horrific. Like people being like left in their own feces, just awful, terrible things. I do remember reading about that, yeah. Andthis was it turned out it was like a nationwide epidemic of like the people we didn't want to see anymore being
Starting point is 00:23:12 treated like shit. Yeah right so like yeah it's pretty it was it was really terrible and then the homeless boom thanks Ronald Reagan. Yeah he did a lot of good stuff for this country did Ronald Reagan. He did. He did a hea he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he did a he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. He did th. He did th. He did th. He th. He th. It's one of my favorite presidents. Wow, top tier. Yeah, uh, him, Andrew Jackson. Oh, my face. George Dub? Bill Clinton. Uh, so we get to them working. They're, they're doing their removal of asbestos. They've got to get all this tile, floor, like floor tile out and ceiling tile. Yeah, they have one week to do it, which is way not enough time. No.
Starting point is 00:23:53 But Book Boy seems to have plenty of time to be going through some tapes that he found. So he's smart, so they didn't know how to write a smart person. So he's just like, all I can do is pursue information. It's a real Guy Ritchie problem. But as he opens this box where he finds the tapes, yeah. All of the other people get hurt doing their, why? Why?
Starting point is 00:24:23 Just a demon Simon, baby. I, Alan. I don't know. Oh, it's so weird. I don't want to say it's dumb, because it's not dumb. No, it's not dumb. But it's just like, because like, there is, like you said, there's like a seed of something really good in this. Yeah, yeah, but I don't know what it is. No. Maybe if all the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors the actors is the actors is the actors is is like is like is like is like is like is like is like is like is like is like there is like there is like there is like there is is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like there is like the actors is like the actors the actors is like the actors the actors the actors the actors is like the actors the actors is like the actors the actors is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like their is like what it is. No, maybe if all the actors had just lost a ton of weight it would have been better. Yeah, I mean that's good.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Although I've heard that that's a really great movie despite just this beyond that. I think I haven't seen it because the pictures of him so thin are really upsetting to look at. Oh yeah, I had an eating disorder. I can't watch that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. that. that. that. that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that that that that that's th. I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I had an eating disorder I can't watch that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Uh, uh, uh, ha, uh, how do I move on from that? Yeah, I like you're just, okay. Um, uh, boy is listening to the tapes. There are tapes of sessions with a woman or girl named Mary. And there are nine sessions in total. He starts with number one and she's just crying that she misses Peter and then we learn that she has multiple personality disorder. She has Princess and Billy and Simon. I don't know. Yeah, yeah I think it's just those three.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Okay. They all seem pretty cool. Okay. That was also a big thing in like the 70s and 80s, multiple personality disorder. Yeah, what was it? What was it? Um, the many faces of Eve? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:57 But that's not, there's never been a true documented case of multiple personality disorder, has there? case of multiple personality disorder has there? Not to my knowledge. I don't think so. Yeah I think that was also a sham of some sort. And like a thing for law and order episodes to be about later. Dunk donk. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Wap. Wah. Wad. Gotta get that clarinet in there. Yeah, I just with my voice being fucked up I just don't have my clarinet range right now. I'm sorry that's so sad I can't believe it's taking your clarinet range. I still got my elbow. We see Hank walking around jamming, wait is it Hank who finds the 1884 coin while jamming on a disc man? Yeah, jamming on like jazz on it. Nothing about this man says like, oh, I'm a sports walkman carrying CD player, jazz guy. The year is 2001, he is listening to Monsters of Rock. Yes. Or that, what was that, is it, Len?
Starting point is 00:27:03 Is that the name of the band that, uh, oh, fuck. Steal My Sunshine? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I that, I that, I that, I, I, I that, I that, I that, I that, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I th. tha, I tha, I tha, I tha, I tha, I tha, I tha, I tha is it Len? Is that the name of the band that, uh... Oh, fuck. Steal My Sunshine? Yeah, I love that song. He's jamming that. Yeah. It's a great jam. It really is. Boom. Boppa. Yeah, he finds a coin from 1884, and then he takes a few steps, and he finds a coin from 1883, to which I wrote, deaf, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, that, th, th, th, that, th, th, that, that, is, is, is, is, is that, is that, is that, is that, is, the, the, is, is, is, is, is, is, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the th he takes a few steps and he finds a coin from 1883 to which I wrote Jeff not a trap. And they're just like stuck in the wall just yeah he goes up
Starting point is 00:27:32 to the wall like there's something jammed in the mortar so he pulls a brick and coins come out like he won the pretty kiddie slot machine at the Rivers Casino. Oh I don't think you've ever gone that hyper-specific. That's the only one I know the name of. Pretty kiddie. Pretty. That sounds very dirty. Yeah, doesn't it? Oh, I'm just picturing a very filthy slot machine where the money comes out. Oh, yeah, that slot is used. Gross, Alan. He finds a ring, he puts it on his finger.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Never put a ring on? Why would you put the ring on? But he puts it on his finger, he's like, ha ha ha, I did it. Yeah. And we see from the camera, for no reason, that the other side of this wall where the coins are falling from is like the crematorium slash morgue area. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Because that means that... Get it? That means that... That means that the guy running the crematorium. Because that means that... This is where you jumped in. Oh, I'm sorry. That means that the guy running the crematorium forgot that he stole all that stuff and hit it in a wall. He, when the place closed, he was like, motherfucker, I guess I'm taking this plant and going home.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Forgot the money. Where the fuck of my 1884 coins at? Wait, what year did this place close? 85. Yeah, yeah. So, no. We cut back to Book Boy. He's now on session 5 and I think like does no one notice that he's not getting anything done? No one cares. They're so hyper focused on getting their $10,000 bonus. Yes, which means that they all have to be working super hard. So if one of them isn't, you'd think you'd catch on. And why would you bring Jeff on board? He's never going to work super hard. No.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Although he says he later promises that he will, which is very sweet. It, G.F. Oh my God. So, yeah, there's other shit in the wall too, like all sorts of like trinkets. There's eyeglasses, a bunch of eyeglasses. Why? Could you know, the resale market on eyeglasses? Come on. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Who knows? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:30:08 Who knows? It's just like, I don't really remember this much of the movie. I'm looking through all of my notes here. And basically like, I don't know. We're learning that Mary has multiple personalities. And that they did lobotomies here, I don't know, and that Hank has weird ideas about escape plans and not wearing a mask and not getting mesothelioma, I don't really know what that's about.
Starting point is 00:30:38 There's also the whole discussion about mortified pride, because somebody was diagnosed with mortified pride. Disappointed expectations. Yeah, and I assume that was just a woman who was hysterical who had to be put into a mental hospital. Absolutely. But so it ends up with Mike giving a demonstration of doing lobotomy with a chopstick in Jeff's eye.
Starting point is 00:31:01 And everyone's sitting around going, huh, huh, huh. And they're like, you should really go back to law school because they all really care about his career trajectory? I'm sorry. If someone just put a young man into a chokehold with the chopstick up to his eye, your immediate thought is that should be a lawyer. You should go back to law. Maybe he would learn that that's against the law. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:31:25 So Jeff and Hank are having this conversation about like just getting a new job and Hank is like no I never wear a mask and I, it's very, it's like, my note about it is like not wearing earplugs for years and bands and now being very fucking deaf. Yeah. Like what is this? Who can, I think what's supposed to say that like Hank is a bit a bit loose thus thus thus thus thus thus thus th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. thi. to thi. to thi. thi. to to the. to the. to to to the. to to to to the. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to is this? Who can I think it's supposed to say that like Hank is a bit of a loose cannon. But it doesn't matter. No. He doesn't do anything. Mm-hmm. Okay, all right. So we get the scene where Mike finds a bunch of roses and red liquid. Like why would he find that? Wait, where?
Starting point is 00:32:08 There's just like a quick seat of him like walking in a hallway and there's like spilled red liquid with roses. Okay. Yeah. I don't know. And it's like, is Gordon like leaving clues to his crimes around? I guess so. I mean, I guess so. Oh. We see David Caruso having dealings with
Starting point is 00:32:29 like sketch dudes right out in the open. What does that have to do with anything? Oh he was buying weed right? I guess. He's smoking weed later on in the movie. Which is fine. Like why is this treated like, I mean that's how you bought weed in 2001 you bought it from sketchy dudes? Yeah. So why is that treated like, I mean that's how you bought weed in 2001, you bought it from sketchy dudes. Yeah, yeah. So why is that treated like, is it just to show that Gordon is paranoid? And also why would David Cruz and I just be like, I bought weed from them? Yeah. Because, you know, stuff, Katie.
Starting point is 00:32:58 I don't know about stuff. And this is like happening around the same time that tha tha tha tha tha thank, thank, thank, thank, than, thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is like, is like, is like, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is th. th. th. this is th. this is th. th. th. th. this is th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeat, is thi. this is this is this is thi, is that Hank is telling Jiff that Gordon is like a Zen master, he's always so calm. But lately I've been seeing cracks in him. Yeah, that's a really good set up here. It's like halfway through the movie. They were like, oh, we forgot to intimate that Gordon's going insane. Can we do it now? Can we do that real quick? Do that real quick.
Starting point is 00:33:25 We also keep seeing him talking on the phone to his wife, but we never hear her side of it, just his. Which is a plot device that comes back later? Oh my god, I hate this. It comes back later, and it is also like, hey, were you looking at your phone for most of the movie? Well, here I have set it up so that you now will understand what's been happening. Absolutely. And frankly, I was also watching a baseball game. How them pirates do? Oh, God, they fucking blew the season. I think they're probably out of contention. And now they're going to start winning because they're out of contention. It'll just be like a thing to ruin my life. I'm very sad. I'm very sad and you called it again. You always do.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Yeah, that they will always let you down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they're abusing me. I don't like, I don't want to be like, I feel like I'm that friend that you come to and you as a piece of shit. And then you're like, actually, we got back together. That's why I'll never take you to a baseball game. Let me just stand screaming, leave her alone. Screaming that at O'Neill Cruz, being like, leave her alone or hit more dingers.
Starting point is 00:34:38 I don't know, man. Are there veggie hot dogs here? No. Oh, there veggie hot dogs here? No. Oh, there aren't? There might be somewhere, I'm not sure. Yeah, I know that Philly's got a big veggie hot dog stand. Wow, why don't you go be a fucking Phillies fan then? Take Bruce Harper and shove them up your ass.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Because the fillies have the most sexually assaulty mascot of all time. I hate the fanatic. I was recently on the New Jersey boardwalk and a lot of the carnival games, a prize that you could win was like a plush Philly fanatic and I was like who the fuck would want this in their home? Who the fuck would want this? Yeah, I got a pirate push. He's a bird.
Starting point is 00:35:25 I do have a little rubber figurine of a praying Philly fanatic on my desk at work. Okay, that's funny though. Yeah, it's funny. I don't like prayer and I don't like sports. No, it's perfect for you. So what's his face? Hank is walking around in the tunnels. I don't know. Sticking his arm in the hole. Dude, you've snuck into like abandoned places at night before, right? One hondo. Okay, would you wear headphones?
Starting point is 00:35:54 No! No, just with his headphones on. And we also see a jar of Jiff peanut butter on the floor, which we saw in Gordon's bag earlier, and it's like, is this Chekhov's peanut butter? He's leaving clues about his crimes. Yeah I guess so. What if you were like the wet bandits from Home Alone but your thing was just leaving a jar of Jiff at every crime scene? The peanut butter murderer? You could call it the peanut butter solution. Yeah. Hank is going through his treasures and he's like oh a silver tooth? Oh a gold the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to the too the too? the too? the the the the too? He the the the too? He's the the the the the the the the the the th. Hea th. Hea the the the the the th. Hea the the th. Hea th. He the th. He the the th. Hea th. Hea th. Hea th. He's th. He's the the the the the the the the th. He's the the the th. He. He. He. He. He th. He th. He th. He th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's the te te te te te te trie trieeeea thee the the the the the the the the the. Yeah. Hank is going through his treasures and he's like, ooh, a silver tooth. Ooh, a gold tooth. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:30 I love fake eyes. He also doesn't have like a bag or anything to put him in. He's just digging around in his bare hands. And I thought, no, you would not reach into the hole. You would just fill a bag and get the fuck out. Yeah and stop listening to fucking Yanni or whatever you're enjoying right now and get the fuck out of there. And he finds a lobotomy spike. Yes. In these treasures. Right. I didn't actually know that. Thank you for telling me. Oh okay yeah yeah yeah. That long pointy thing with the handle.
Starting point is 00:37:01 No I saw I knew it later but I didn't know that he found it here yeah. Yeah yeah because I guess Gordon is was like leaving pre-crime stuff now. Oh yeah he's see he put his peanut butter down there maybe he uses the peanut butter as a lube to get it into your eye socket. Oh God! Like not only is the lobotomy upsetting which is awful I like, no it's no. I was just listening to something to the to the to the to to to the to to to the to the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, I'm. Oh, I'm. Oh, I'm. Oh, th. Oh, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, the the the th. Oh, the th. Oh, the th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th... No, it's terrible. Like, I was just listening to something about the Kennedys and what they did to their one dollar. Oh, Rosemary? Yeah. Yeah. Because she was into dude.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Because she liked to fuck and party. Cool. Cool, cool, cool, cool. Sometimes I think I am lucky to be a woman in 2024. Yeah, right? Yeah, right. I'll take my parents ignoring me a hundred percent over them doing that. Honestly, I'm glad they didn't care to try to fix me. Help! So, but I'd like, just the idea of like, you just said the lubricating with peanut butter, like the the stink of peanut butter as it's going into your eye.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I think that would be much more pleasant, honestly. So soften the blow a bit, you know? So Hank sees, there's like sort of a chain link fence down there and he sees a dark figure moving behind it. And this is like kind of the only scary bit of the movie I think th th th, I th, I th, I th, I th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th.. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th where you're like oh someone's down there. It's like he briefly remembered that he was making a horror movie. Yeah. And then immediately forgot it again. And also this is like real fuck around and find out territory for Hank so you don't even care you know he's yeah whatever. He gets scared by pigeons he runs around a corner and he goes oh no it's you and that goes black black black or whatever happens and that happens 15 more times in the movie. And then we see like a slow-mo shot of two of the men looking at each other and looking
Starting point is 00:38:52 back at each other but it's a bit hard to tell who is who because they have the masks on with the ventilators. Yeah. And I'm just like what am I watching? Who can say? Who can say? So Hank is now missing, it's Wednesday. Right. We're on day three of their mission to get this done in a week. They have not gotten shit done, by the way. No. Because they're fucking being bookboys everywhere. Yeah, or stealing everything.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Or buying their marijuana. Who would do such a thing? Who would do such a thing? Who would do such a thing? So we get a chasing Amy, I mean calling Amy scene, where, where, or a fucking David Caruso has to call his ex to look for Hank. Right, he talks to her on the phone and she, apparently, according to him, tells him that Hank came into the house, said he hit it big and bolted to Miami to casino school?
Starting point is 00:39:53 First of all, if you hit it big, you don't have to go to casino school. Is that a thing, casino school? I think there's classes you have to take to be a dealer but I don't think it's like an accredited institution. And what does it big mean like what 20 grand? Like what I mean casino school doesn't seem like you hit it that big? Mm-mm. No, just enough to pay my casino school tuition. Also earlier in the movie Hank is like someone mentions like having a kid to Hank and he's like oh what what, me and Amy? No, I'm just fucking her to get on fucking David Grusso's nerves. Yeah, and we do see like a short montage scene in which he is like
Starting point is 00:40:35 sitting in a chair drinking and smoking, she's yelling at him for some reason. Oh, I didn't even, I don't remember that. You just see like the lower, like the a woman from like the chest, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the ch the ch the ch th, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. thi. thi. the, the, thi. thi. the lower, like the, a woman from like the chest down, like walking around the chair and being like, me, ma'am, ma'am, man, you know, doing the ma'am-ma-ma-ba. Sure. Yeah. But, women in this movie, am I right? Which, none, none. None.
Starting point is 00:41:01 Does this movie pass the Bechtel Test? No women have lines. So yes. Yeah, I think it doesn't take the Bechdale Test. It just, it's, it's parents opted it out of dissecting something, you know? Yeah, there's no Bechdel Test at casino school. No, no, God no. So Gordon and David Caruso are fighting now. They're like doing super close talking. One of them says to the other, you're gonna hit me and I was like, no, I'm gonna kiss you. Because I really wanted them to kiss. Oh, it'd have been so cute.
Starting point is 00:41:34 Let's just get this out of the way and make out for a while. He's, David Caruso seems very angry at his friend for having a kid. Sure. He's a little old for that. You've ruined my later years, my winter years, you've ruined them. I'm not going to be able to retire now that you have a child. You're ruining my career as working for your asbestos company? Go work with Craig McManus, who we keep being referred to. Oh man I love when he shows up later. I love Larry Feasanton. I love Larry Feasanton, you
Starting point is 00:42:14 to die Larry Feasanton. Yeah he looks rough. No I mean in this movie he's going to to die. Oh yeah but he does always look rough. I think he has had bouts of substance abuse issues, if I'm not mistook him. So, but do we get more like Mike looking at files for people? We see that a tree branch, we see that Mary Hobbs has been buried in plot 444, and then we see that a tree branch has hit plot 444 and broken the marker? Do you think that's what let Simon out? Oh my God, is that really why?
Starting point is 00:42:51 I don't know. It's like Simon just like going directly into a Gordon's butt because he's sitting right over the tombstone. But he's already been there. I hate this. Oh, I'm so glad. I was so worried that we were going that we that we that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that we're going that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get so glad. I was so worried that we were going to get together and be like, this tense psychological thriller has gotten me. Omniously, this is trash. Because I went on Reddit last night after I watched this and I was like, all right, I've got to see what people think about this. And people were like, this movie stuck with me for so long the scene where you hear what he did to his wife and daughter and I was like talking I've
Starting point is 00:43:28 seen worse I don't need to hear it. Yeah what are we talking about here? I don't know this was my first talkie I ever saw and it stuck with me. We're monsters. So Gordon tells Phil that he slapped Wendy because she dumped boiling water on his leg. Yeah it was an accident and he and he and he he and he he he and he he he he he he he. he. he. I he I he I he I he I he I he I he I he I he I he I he I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like, I was like, I was like I was like I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I I I I I was like, I I I I was like, I was like, I was like, I to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. I was like I was like. I was like I was like I was like. Yeah, it was an accident and he reacted by slapping her, which is a very sad story. Yeah, yeah. And like to Peter Mullin's credit, he is acting the shit out of this. I think all the acting is really, really competent in this. Sure. And in this moment, you feel sorry for him.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Like, yeah, you hit your wife, but like, I mean, that's, I hate to say you hit your wife, but. But sometimes when you're hurt, your instinct is to lash out, like, you know, I don't know. Right, there are things that you could possibly do to try and make a mens for a one-time fuck up of that proportion? Um, his legs all fucked up. Yeah, he got boiled leg. He did not seek medical attention. No, because then they would have asked, did you murder your wife and child? And he'd been like, uh, actually. That's what they, I mean, every time I've ever been to the hospital. They're like, they're like, did you thii. to th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to thi. to thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the the tho. th. th. th. to the hospital. They're like, did you murder your husband and daughter? And I'm like, well don't you have to take Robin Lucy into the hospital room with you so you'd be like, no, they're fine. They're right there, and now will you
Starting point is 00:44:51 please treat my burn? So Gordon tells him not to tell the other guys and I wrote, he's definitely going to tell the other guys because he's a fucking gossip. He's such a shit-talker. Yeah. And Phil's like, oh yeah, and those guys you saw me talking to you that I denied the other day, those were graffiti artists and they're not going to be coming back. Yeah, it's a very weird and by the way. Yeah, it's a very weird and by the way. Yeah, thi. Yeah, it's a very th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. Oh, interesting. By the way. While we're on the topic. Oh, you sparked a memory. I would, this point I decided that I was rooting only for Brendan Sexton the 3rd and I wanted him to be the only one who made it out, makes a good choice and ends up going
Starting point is 00:45:37 to law school. He doesn't. Boiler. to th. the the the th. th. th. th. I'm sorry, Gordon is sleeping in his car and he has a dream about a blood-covered hazmat suit. And that's when we see that his legs all messed up, yeah. And a voice says, do it, Gordon. Do what? Do what?
Starting point is 00:46:02 I don't know why, but for some reason the name Gordon is very funny for being mind-controlled. Yeah, it really is. Gordon. It's me, Simon. I'll be your demon this week. I will be your demon counsel. Oh, David Caruso's Bacon on the job. Yeah. Rolling a big duber. Then he goes in and just tells Mike immediately that, uh, that Gordon has hit Wendy. I need you to take a break with me right now. And Gordon catches them having this conversation. Yeah. Yeah. Because Gordon also isn't working.
Starting point is 00:46:44 No one is working. Jeff sees Hank at the top of the stairs listening to his headphones wearing Oakley's. What are you doing up there? This also annoyed me because earlier when Mike puts the chopstick in Jiff's eye, he says, uh, the only way to cover up the bruising, sunglasses. Oh, okay. Then when we see Hank and he's got sunglasses on, I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, God. I do like that this line here where Jeff is like, Hank isn't responding to him or isn't paying attention, whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:24 And Jeff just goes, I forgot something, I'll be back, and walks away, which is just very funny to me. Oh, it's so dumb. Yeah. So all of this goes on for a while. There's like Phil walking around in a dark tunnel. He's got a coin and then he flips a coin and then Hank drops his coin and I don't know what the coins have to do with anything.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Think about it, won't you? Nah. He finds Hank's Walkman and then Hank's clothes. I was going to say Hank is just sitting in the dark like the guy from the Enter Sandman video. Yeah. And Mike just wants to get back to his book learning like he's trying to get to session nine. He wants to get to the series finale. I don't want to be a dick to Mike. I understand he's had a hard life. He should have been a lawyer but he's a asbestos removal guy. His dad's a state attorney general. Someone will pay for him the the the the the the the the the the the the to their their their their to their their their their to their their. their. to th. to th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the's to to to to the. to to to to to to to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thee. the. the. the. the. the. to go to law school. So I'll just take the tapes home with you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:25 This could have all been done at home. Yeah. Do this on your own time. Yeah. I don't remember what happens in session nine. I'm sure it was important. That's when we meet Simon. Simon is session nine.
Starting point is 00:48:39 And so he's like laying out why he had to kill Peter. Oh, right. He's just the whole, the rest of this, practically the rest of this movie is voice over by Simon. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I told him to cut up Peter, to cut him up real bad. I'll do the same to Gordon. Yeah. Go on. Now, go. Go.
Starting point is 00:49:01 Gordon ends up in Mary in in in in in we see that he has put up a bloody photo collage of his daughter's christening photo. I love how fucking piss that baby is in all the christening pictures too. Nobody wants to get christened don't do this. And it's just like yeah no we know okay yeah movie we got it. They're dead. They're dead. And Phil shows up with a putty knife and and this is supposed to be the red herring where you think maybe Phil's been doing it all. Yeah, but he isn't.
Starting point is 00:49:35 No. We see Jeff eating an Oreo. And then something, I thought something ran him over. I thought it was a vehicle the way it was shot. I like it's like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like the like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. the. We the. the. We the. We the. We the. We the. We the. the. the. the. the. the. th shot. I love that he turns around to like, oh, it's you, it like opens his arms for a hug, like they've been on a hugging basis this entire movie. I really like Jeff's character, I'm gonna be honest with you. He just wants to be loved.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Yeah. And to eat Oreos out of the doorwell of a truck. Yeah he's like he finds it he eats it and then he's like I found these is that okay? So cute. And then Craig McManus shows up. We've been being teased with Craig McManus for the entire movie. McMahon is here. It's Larry Feasanton. It's Larry. Just looking the most Larry Fezenden he can look. Looking like an asbestos abatement guy, frankly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Uh, and he's looking all around, and he finally finds Hank covered in plastic, wearing the sunglasses. Right, and a blood stain on the floor. And Phil says he was a liability. I mean he brought it on himself, didn't he? And then I have a note that says, I assume the sunglasses are covering up the lobotomy. I was right.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Let's take the sunglasses off. What's he got there? He's got a lobotomy pick in his eye. But he's alive. Yeah. Yeah. And then Phil says, I wouldn't tell tell. If they find out about Hank, they're going to find out about the others. What? But Phil wasn't there? No, McManus arrives and David Caruso is not there. Yeah. And then Craig McManus gets right to the eyeball. What? It is Larry Fezenden's way. I guess so. Hey, I showed up. Would you like to kill me now? Yes, please. The voice of Simon is saying, because they let me, they always do.
Starting point is 00:51:36 And I don't know what that means. Because they're weak, they let him control them. Oh. Yeah, sad people just want someone to take over. God is my co-pilot. Is this a Jesus Take the Wheel scenario? But it's a Simon take the wheel? Oh, fuck. So we see him once again calling his wife, but it's just the front plate of a phone, there's no actual phone. Yeah. And we see that Wendy and the baby are dead, right? This is where we like get the confirmation?
Starting point is 00:52:08 Yeah. We have gotten confirmation that everyone's dead because Gordon has put them each in their own individual rooms throughout the hospital. It's like a little dollhouse he's doing, which is fine. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Simon says, I live in the week and the wounded. And the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiolk. thiolk. thi. thi. thiole. thoome. thoome. th. thoome. thoome. thoome. thoomfe. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the. I live in the week and the wounded. And then the movie ends, I don't know, fuck it, I just want it to be over. My last note is what don't I get about this movie?
Starting point is 00:52:32 My last note says, nah. Sounds like we're going to the ratings phase. Yeah. Go. What you got for me? Two for Jeff. Just for Jeff. Two for the two f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f the the the the the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Man, it had me thinking of another movie last night that I just didn't get the people love, but that's gone now. But you know what I do love?
Starting point is 00:53:05 What? Katie, we got some actual physical mail at our PO box. You went to the PO box. Yes, our PO box, 5471, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15206. Nice, thanks for checking it. Starting point is 00:53:29 This letter is from Bluntly Lesbionist. Is that what the return address says on the envelope? That's also the signature on the letter. I am fucking tickled by that. Thank you so much. They say, dear Mrs. Wearwolf and Mr. Ambulance, hello, very formal. You two are the sweethearts of podcast. Both of you all bring so much laughter and joy to not only me but others worldwide. You have made a significant impact in my life that completely saves me. Please do not ever think you all are just a podcast.
Starting point is 00:54:09 As a thank you gift, I'm sending you an autograph. What? Let me show you the autograph and see if you can figure out who this autograph is from. Okay, okay, okay. Okay. Oh, oh, oh. Tom Hanks! I think! Ha-X!
Starting point is 00:54:27 Wow, thank you. They sent us an autograph of Tom Hanks, America Sweetheart. I thought we were a- I have connections, lull. Whoa, tell him we love the burbs. I'm sure he's listened. Thank you, bluntly, let's be honest. Thank you blunely, lesbianist.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Oh my gosh, you're so sweet. And thank you for the kind words. We really, uh, you know, we really, sometimes we think this is a dumb thing we do and then, it really matters to us that it matters to you truly. For sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Katie, we got another thing that I'd like to show you. Is this from our PO Box? From our PO Box. When's the last time you went there, Buckeroo?
Starting point is 00:55:14 Like a week ago, there was nothing there. I try to check it like once a week. Dear Stretch and Lefty. Callback. Call back from like season one. When we had seasons? I just wanted to thank you both for years of happiness and joy. Listening to your podcast has filled the void left from growing old and losing friends. Oh baby. I hope you both enjoy this silly gift as a token of my appreciation.
Starting point is 00:55:42 May you never do an episode on The Thing. Here's a question for you. Yeah. Does Katie still love Brian from Wings? You think I could stop? You think that's a thing you can just turn off? That you can just one day wake up and not want to fuck Stephen Weber? Uh-uh. I blabbub. Uh-uh. Uh-huh. What? Fuck him Stephen We... I'm a fucking? thi. Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Uh I thought you just loved him. You know, I think it's both. Okay, and give me both. It can do it. I do just love Brian from Wings. But also he's very good looking. Sure.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Much love T. There's a PS. K. What do you all think about covering S-S S S S S 500. Oh, no thank you. I did have a genius move on, I think, for episode 500, that Katie and I agreed to, so. Oh, wait, you texted me and I remember thinking it was a great idea,
Starting point is 00:56:33 and now I don't remember what it is. You have to text me again. So TK has set us a gift. What is it? A Captain Lou Albano action figure. T.K. That is fucking fantastic. I loved Captain Lou. God rest his soul. A great Italian. A great American. A great American.
Starting point is 00:56:57 And how did he get the rubber bands to stick to his face? I don't know what you mean by that. Were they just in his beard? No, he used to have them just like stuck to his cheek. Oh, interesting. Oh, yeah, you're right. Look at that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:11 Yeah, Captain Louis Albano. Lewis Albano. One more thing that was a fucking boon day, like it's, it'll just be a fallow mailbox forever, and then I'll go there and blah blah, wow. That's fantastic. This is from Charlie. Hi Charlie. Charlie says, Hello, Alan and Katie.
Starting point is 00:57:33 We didn't have Spooky's level budget, but here is a movie I made with France. What? monster comedy that is filmed in New Hampshire. Here you go. I call you assholes sometimes but really I do love you. Yeah, yeah. Sam, we should come back and do this again next week for them. You want to do a movie by a director that you, um, no. Not like, not love, but no. Do you want to do a movie by a director that brought Atlantis into our lives? I still sometimes get maybe someday stuck in my head.
Starting point is 00:59:15 It's so good. Maybe. Such a bop. Someday, it's so good. Yeah, I went on Discogs to see if I could find the 7-inch but it's really expensive. Yeah. Yeah, because it's a bop. We're going to do another Don Doler movie. Don Doler. It's called. Wait for it. Nightbeast. It's on Shutter. I know nothing about it. Alan was like we're going to do this. And I was looking for something to watch one night and I put it on not realizing it was a
Starting point is 00:59:46 Don Duller joint. And I got like five minutes in and it was like, oh my god, I have to stop this right now because I need the joy of seeing this as I'm taking notes. I'm talking about it with Katie. I cannot watch this. film. This is a work film. All right, well you go get some rest so that you don't continue to feel so shitty. Thank you. I will try my best.
