Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, and welcome to another episode of WhereWulf Ambulance. Hi, Kady. How are you? I'm doing well on yourself? I'm doing well. Excellent. Katie, we're also joined by our friend Jason. Hi Jason. Hey there, hey guys. How are you? I'm fantastic. Great. Oh wow, he's fantastic. Fine and fantastic.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Doing better than we are. Oh, well. Well is just like a baseline of like, I'm not dead. Jason you guys might know from Cryptocurium. thoom, he's been our sponsor for the past couple months. Thank you for that, by the way. You're welcome. You're welcome. A fine show indeed. Thank you. So Jason, what did you bring us? I brought you guys my favorite movie, a 1979 alien by Ridley Sky. When Alan first told me we were doing this movie, I thought, is this a horror movie? And then I I watched it again, oh oh the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I was th. I was th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. to. the. tho. the. tho. to. tho. tho. th. th. tho. th. th. th. When Alan first told me we were doing this movie, I thought, is this a horror movie?
Starting point is 00:01:05 And then I watched it again, I was like, oh yeah. It's a horror movie. Oh, good. Oh, yeah. I'm glad you came down on that end. I just have such a thing about space. What do you mean? I just don't really like it?
Starting point is 00:01:14 to the, do you, do. except of outer space. Boom. Oh. Well, is sci-fi always space? No. No. No. So I can get into it.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Yeah, yeah. So I can get into that more. It's just, you know what it is? It's that scene that's in every movie about space. Where they take off, they lift off, and it's like, blusters loaded, counting down one, to see this? You're not really... I don't know how a spaceship flies. And I now need to know. So that's my biggest beef with this movie is that there's one of those scenes. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Your biggest beef is that it establishes that it's in space. Yes. Yes. We're going all seen this. Everyone has seen this. They better have. Yeah, what if they haven't? I don't know. Let's tell them. That's weird. Jason do you think you could do a quick synopsis of the movie and then we could just tear it apart scene by scene or talk about the cool stuff? Yeah, all the above. All right. So hit me with a synops. the synops. the synops. the synops. the synops. the synops. the synops. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they they they they they they they they they they they they they haven. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the Okay, so Alien starts out with this excellent, awesome, just opening title sequence of a planet in space, in space, and you get the cool little...
Starting point is 00:02:32 Love space. You get the cool white lines that eventually spell out the word alien, which kind of sets the tone. As the movie starts, we see the vessel the Nostromo, which is a mining vessel, and basically it just tells you that these guys are miners in space and th space................................................ the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the planet. the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, they-i.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a. they.a. their, their, their, their, their. the vessel the Nostromo which is a mining vessel and basically just tells you that these guys are miners in space and that they were on their way back to Earth but they got woke up by their ship's computer mother and the and that they have to respond to a distress beacon that they're not sure if it's human. Fast forward to that they get on to the planet with this this distress the the the the this distress distress distress distress the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the this distress signal the the the the the the the the the the the the the the theususususususususususususus thiaeseseses thiarseysysyseyseyseystermyse thiarse thiarse thiarse their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their it's human. Fast forward to that, they get onto the planet, where this distress signal is coming from
Starting point is 00:03:08 and they find this derelict spacecraft and inside the spacecraft is a bunch of these, what they believe to be eggs. One of the crew members canne, he goes up to one of the eggs and inside this creature that kind of blasts out and attaches it to his face. His other crew members take him back to the ship where they kind of keep him under observation they have no idea what it is, they try to take it off, it bleeds an acid all over the place. It does. Which is a wonderful defense mechanism. As a student in the film. Yeah. Fast Fast forward he wakes up, he seemingly okay, the face hugger creature that was on his face has died and then they go for the infamous
Starting point is 00:03:54 dinner scene. It's like the best scene in the movie history. Oh yeah, absolutely. So then he starts coughing, choking and falls on the table and this thing just pops out of his chest, freaking everybody out, and then it scampers off and they all lose their minds. Yeah. And then they all lose their lives. In short order. So from there, it's basically just, I mean, not to go into too much specifics, but they all basically get picked off one by this creature creature that grows incredibly fast. How does it do that?
Starting point is 00:04:27 It's a alien. It's magic. What is it feeding on? We'll get to that. We'll get to that. I hadn't considered that fact until just this moment that it goes from like tiny to seven feet tall. You just ruined the movie for Katie. In like an hour. So it picks off a few crew members. Meanwhile their crew member Ash is being shady the whole time. We'll get that
Starting point is 00:04:50 thing later. Fucking Bilbo. With milk. They chase around the cat for a while. That fucking cat though. I hate Jonesy. Yeah. Yeah. Come on. The cat ruins so many things. Yeah that's why I have a cat named Jonesy.? Yeah. Yeah. Come on. The cat ruins so many things. Yeah, that's why I have a cat named Jonesy. He's an asshole. He ruins. He doesn't ruin things.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Usually my sleep. They all get picked off basically one by one. There's the main scene with Tom Scarett when he's in the ventilation ducks and and the alien kind of the alien kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind of kind of kind of kind of just kind of just kind of just kind of the the the the the alien so they kind of come up with the idea that well if we don't kill it now it's going to kill us so they kind of try to make the last stand against it and that's when Parker and then Lambert both get killed the same time leaving just Ripley. Oh wait I have to back up I messed it. That's okay. It's okay. We could talk about that stuff. We just get to get the end to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to the end the end to get the end the end to get the end to the end the end the end to the end to the end the end to the end the end the end the end the end the end the end the end the end. the end. the end the end the end the end the end the end the end the end the end the end. the end the end the end. the end. the end. the end. the end. the end. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the last. the last. the the last. the the the the the the the the the the the the last. the the last. the the the last. the last. the end. the end. the the end. they discover that Ash is actually an Android who works for the company. He kind of malfunctions and strives to kill Ripley in a very weird fashion with a magazine.
Starting point is 00:05:52 The grossest way. The grossest way. The grossest way. Death by Swatting. And then the three of them kind of take a stand against him, knock his head off. Then they, you know, they have him basically reveal his plan of what was going on, which. th. th. th. th. the, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, theirthree of them kind of take a stand against him, knock his head off, then they, you know, they have him basically reveal his plan of what was going on, which is that the whole reason that they were brought to this planet was to bring back a sample of this alien so the company could do whatever it is that they want to do with it, that everyone else was expened, and they don't really take that very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very that..... thrae that. And th. And thr. And thr. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And throwne. their. And their. their. their. their. their their their their. And their. And their. And their. And their. And their. And their. And their. And they. And they. And they. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the's destroy the ship and take the escape pod and let's get the hell out of here. And they attempt to do that, which doesn't really go so well for them.
Starting point is 00:06:28 The, like I said, before, Parker and Lambert get killed off with Ripley and her cat left. She finally makes it into the escape pod. They're attempting to blow up the the shed and she gets trapped in there with the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien, the alien out of the airlock and see. And then sleepy times. Sleepy times with little underwear. Yeah, this underwear rail fitting. Didn't look comfortable at all. I have a story about those underwear if you want to say that for later. I think we can go ahead and get that out of the way now. Let's knock the underwear. It's funny because I was re-watching this last night and my wife was sitting next, she's like, are you going to tell them about the underwear?
Starting point is 00:07:09 I was like, yeah, I might as well. It's not that crazy. You own those underwear and you bought them on either. Which is weird. I can either confirmley with the first time I ever noticed a girl in those underwear. That's better than my Judy Jetson. Oh good God. What's your Judy Jetson? I thought Judy Jetson was really cute when I was a little kid. I know. Welcome to my podcast Alan reveals too much. Yep. I'm glad the panty story was just that.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Yeah, I felt like that could have gotten a whole, whole lot worse. It just had to wi. Well, thanks so much. Yeah. Yeah, that's alien. In a nutshell. Yeah. I'm just this place, like about 20 years from now. It's like 20 years from now, right? Yeah. I I I I I th th th th th. I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. th. thi. thia. th. th. th. that's that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. theea. th. th. th. that's that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like., right? 2036, something like that? Yeah. It's like 20 years from now, right?
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yeah. I believe so, yes, yes, yes. I can't wait for 20 years from now when we can smoke cigarettes on spaceships. Because that's what you can do in the future. And our computer technology can be 30 years in the past? Yeah, I'm really Do you know what I mean? I think I do. Yeah, I know what you mean.
Starting point is 00:08:26 It's sort of like, it's the gold standard for what space is supposed to look like at this point? Yeah, maybe that's what it is. Like, every spaceship after this movie looks like this movie pretty much? It's like when I was watching this, she be old enough to be a grandmother? And then I was like, oh, this was 1979. Like, this was quite a while ago. But John Hurt was already a hundred and six years old? Yeah, that's just his look.
Starting point is 00:08:52 He's a vampire. Also, Tom Scarrett is like not weird looking. I feel he's pretty weird looking. He's got that like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I'm doing it, you can't see it. He's a weird face. His face has bad wings? What was that face? Oh, yeah, that is weird looking. I think he's damn handsome in this movie.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah, he's damn handsome in this movie. That's, I guess what's weird is that I found Tom Scarrett attractive. And he's got a cool name. to be a cool name. Yeah, are they code names or they their actual names? Oh, I don't know. Those are their names. Yeah, those are the real names. They're names that I would pick if I was like, I need a cool guy name. I'm gonna be Lambert. Even Ripley's a cool name, I'll be Ripley.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah, that's a great name. It's got rip right in it. This was like her first major motion picture role, or first motion picture role at all, I think, maybe. I think she was in Annie Hall. It was. Wasn't she an Annie Hall prior to this? She had a small part, but this was her first like actual big like motion picture, they consider this her like motion picture deviation. Oh, word, okay. She rules.
Starting point is 00:09:58 And her hair's so goddha. You're shaking your head, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. Is. She was, th. She was, th. She was, th. She, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. She. She. She. She. She's thi. She's thi. She's thi. She's a thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. She was a thi. She was a thi. She you're saying, yes. So when I was a kid, I didn't understand why people found Sigourney Weaver and Adrian Barbeau attractive. For some reason I lumped the two of them together. The Tudy Jackson you were down with? Yeah. So as an old man, I'm like, no, Gordianne Daven, I'm just like, what's up, Sogornie? Yeah. She's like in her mid 60s. She still looks great. She does. Yeah, yeah, fantastic. She's great. And cabin in the woods. Yeah, Harry Dean Stanton might also be a vampire, like you said about John Hurt,
Starting point is 00:10:32 because he's also always been 117 years old. Yeah, because if you see him in the same exact thing. What if you got turned into a vampire when you were already all crinkled up? Like, that was so- What could you get when I was good looking? Oh, dog. And Harry Dean Stanton. Yeah, the cast in this movie. Everybody in this movie. Like, they're all incredible actor.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I don't know how they did that. There should be at least one Owen Wilson in this movie. Speaking of the cast of this movie, did you know that Jones was played by four identical cats? What? That's what the internet says. I don't believe they were identical, but it said four identical cats, which I was really into. That's a fucking Tabby racist that wrote that. All they all look the same. Fucking Tavie racists. I do have the note, Scar it is mad handsome. See, but look at him now thabababababab- th th th th th th th th th th th the picture th th th the picture the picture th th th th th the picture th th thus the picture thi thus thus the thus thi racist thi racist thi racist thi racist, thi racist, thi racist, thi racist, thi racist, I's thabby racist, I's thabby racist, I's thian. I's thian. I's thian. I's thian, I's thian. I's thian. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi, I's thi, I's thi, I's thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm toge. I'm toge, thi, thi handum. See, but look at him now. Look at this picture of him on IMDB. He looks like a happy pipe brush. Yeah, that's about as close as I feel you can get.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Well, have you guys seen the deleted scenes from this movie at all? There's a scene that features Tom Scarrett's ultimate demise. No. Yeah, there's the director's, whatever director's, seventh director's cut version that came out. There's a scene where it shows you that what the alien was doing with everybody because he wasn't killing them right off. Right. He was taking them somewhere and basically like turning into eggs. And yeah, and they kind of leave that out because that kind of conflicts with what happens in aliens, the second movie. Oh, really? So yeah, yeah, because you have the queen, the queen, the queen, the queen, the queen, the queen, the queen, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the alien. the the the the alien. the alien the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. the alien. It's the alien. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the because you know, you have the queen laying the eggs in the second movie. So this one is that bad. But you see Tom Scarett, he's all like glued to the wall.
Starting point is 00:12:11 He's like, uh, help. And then she just, she just lights him up with a flame thrower. It's awesome. Oh, wow. thrower. I'm just just throw that out there. I think they're real fun. I don't know that they're meant to be. You never did the thing with the hair spray and lighter when you... No I didn't. No, I did. I totally did. Of course you did. You were boys. I'm afraid of space. Heaters. See, it's a thing about space. I'm just like, it's a terr. It's a terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible. It's a the the the the the the the the the th. It's a th. It's a tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that's a th That's how they keep space at absolute zero with the space heater. My whole life is a lie. I wish I was funny. Let's talk about the face hugger, because that's my favorite part of this movie.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Yeah. It's like sheep intestines. It's like the best effects, that fucking thing that's just clutching his face. I love it. Yeah. It's like, it's underbellies like the, it's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's like, it's like, it's th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. the the th. thi is the the the the the the thi's thi's thi's the, the, the the the th. the thi. their their thi. their thi. their thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. It's th. It's. It's the. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the. It's the. It's. It's the. It's. It's the. It's. It's the. It's. It's like. It's like. I love it. Yeah. It's like the it's underbellies like made out of oysters and all this weird shit. Yeah. This is a very low-budget movie for what they were doing. Yeah. It was like nine or ten million I think. It had to all be eaten up with those those Geiger sets like the seets are insane. Yeah and gigar like hand-painted most of themselves with an airbrush. What? He also got detained at U.S. Customs bringing designs for this movie over with him because they found it super disturbing and like I guess Dan O'Bannon had to go down to the airport and be like we're making a movie these are just pictures. Have you ever seen Dan O'Bannon? Um, I don't think so. He's this, he was another person that was like always an old man. And he, like, there's an interview with him that I've seen
Starting point is 00:13:45 where he's sitting down and you can see his belt buckle because it's right under his nipples. So he's just like this old man, it's like, hey, what's going on? I'm that old man. That's not what I pictured. So I love the chest-busting alien scene was like somehow inspired by his Crohn's disease.
Starting point is 00:14:13 And I was like, that's disgusting. Yeah, I think that's what killed him too. Oh, he's dead. Yeah, Dan Abandon has passed away, yeah. He did one of my favorite movies, Return in the Living Dead, right? He did do one of your favorite movies. I'm so glad you came around on that movie. Wait, are you uncoming around on it? It's just, you know. Just think about Lennon has another. He has another decent flick. It's a movie, it's an adaptation of Lovecraft's, the case of Charles Deptester Ward, it's called The Reserrected. Oh, I've never seen that. Yeah, you might want to check that out.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Yeah, I've never seen him. I will check that out. The Dan O'Banna catalog. And he worked on the first John Carpenter movie. They did that together in college. Darkstar. Yeah. Did either of you alien in that. Oh, I really like that.
Starting point is 00:15:06 It's a college and you're doing drugs movie. That's great. That's really good. Yeah. Speaking of, wasn't he supposed to have something to do with a Yodorovsky's dune but that never got made? Yeah. I think he was somehow tapped to work on that too. Well, like how much of the script is actually Dan O'Bannon at this point is like a lot of
Starting point is 00:15:26 conjecture because they brought in a dude to like rewrite it. Yes. Under him. That's why he gets the like, what's it say, like based on a script by Dan O'Bannon or something like that? Yeah, it's like based on characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Chuset, because they had like the skeleton, you, you, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus, like, thus, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they had like the you know the skeleton of the story but like things like ash being added and like the crew members possibly not being all guys was added by I think it's David Giler the other screenwriter that was what
Starting point is 00:15:51 was not done by O'Vannin. Okay I lumped this movie in with the thing I think of these those two films of being like sister films because they're both like the perfect two-night feature. A double feature. Of depression. It's those like the two. But they're there's like, you know, they're both just isolation, party being picked off, and then like, except they don't have the infighting that's in the thing.
Starting point is 00:16:19 They do a little bit. There's like the issue over the quarantine and apparently there's a, I don't know if this was in the director's cut deleted scenes where Lambert slaps Ripley. Yeah, that's in the director's cut. Yeah, so I mean there's definitely some fussing and feud in there. Yeah, so you watch the the theatrical release for this? I watched the DVD. Okay. Yeah, I watched it was a box set with the the regular cut. I had the option to watch the 2003 Directors Cut or the theatrical and I went theatrical because...
Starting point is 00:16:48 You figured I would have the cheaper one? No, no, because I figured like, I'm not a huge fan of Directors Cutt because I feel like, and I think it might be having been burnt by George Lucas going back and being like, what if everything had everything had a rap song in it, like, the thapapapapapape, th old Star Wars movies. So, yeah, I'm not a big fan of director's cuts. And listen to the original cut of this movie, like three hours or something? So there had to have been some real garbage in there. Yeah. Some things that had to land on the cutting-in floor.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Because it's such a tight story. Yeah, there's not athink that logo building at the beginning of the movie is so fantastic. Yeah, now I think it's also been emulated by movies, video games, and other things since then. It's just so awesome. Yeah. It's such an ingenious idea. And it's easier to work too, because if it was the movie's original title, which is going to be Starbeast, it wouldn't have looked nearly as cool. What? Starbeast? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I think we should make that movie. I'm not that into space, but I feel like we could write Starbeast like right now. You know who I think what I'd like it. I bet I know an finish that joke. Yeah. I want to mention that I love that Yafet Cotto and Harry Dean Stanton are just dicks. It's like, they just want more money. They're just like... Yeah, they push that so hard.
Starting point is 00:18:18 They're like not subtle about it at all. I feel like it's just like a condemnation of the Union system or something. This is labor in 1979. But I love like they I mean they seem to have a genuine friendship and like appreciation for each other and I really like that like there's a scene where like where they're first asking for their bonuses and a Harry Dean Stanton kind of puts his hand up to his mouth and like, like, oh, that's adorable Yafat Kodo takes that and runs with it. And I was like, that's adorable. That is adorable. I would hang out with those two dudes. Yeah, you know, they were in the bottom of the ship
Starting point is 00:18:49 just like banging away on the pipes or whatever, just, you know what? We're really getting screwed here. Is that a combination of union labor? I don't know. I think these guys are just assholes and it's great. So what are they doing? They're mining something? Space mining. Mining space. The company is looking for the alien. An alien? Yeah. The plot seems like they were just like, don't work. Don't work.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Which is fine. What do you, do you have any insight on this, Jason? Yeah, you watch the law. Um, I'm also like an alien fanatic, so yeah, I do have a little bit of a. Yeah. Well, it kind of gets a little more fleshed out with, uh, with the subsequent movies, but even if you just watch this when you get the idea that the company that they work for, yeah, they're probably, you know, you th you th super th super the th super the th super th super they th super they. they. th. th. th. they. th. th. th. th. th. they. thi. to to to be to be to be to be to be to their their to be to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their.... their. their. their. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. the. the. together. th. together. to together. to to th. to to to to to to to to to to the the the. ththe idea that the company that they work for, yeah, they're a mining company, but you know, they're probably, you know, super rich, but you're out in space, you know, if you have the chance to pick up something alien that people haven't seen before, of
Starting point is 00:19:50 course you're going to go for it, but they seem to have put ash out with the other science ship with the direct intention that was in there with the, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you, you, you, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you, you're, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you.. the, you. the, the, the, the, the, the, they. they. they. they. their. they. they. their their they. they. their, their, you know, you know, you know, you know, you're, they shift, they tell you the beginning that they switch ash out with the other science officer that was in there from previous, previous runs. Yeah, Dallas says, I've shipped out with them, you know, just as once. So it almost, you know, leads you to believe that well, the company knows that there's something out there, they already picked up sure that they get it back. Yeah. I had completely forgotten, I hadn't seen this movie in several years.
Starting point is 00:20:30 I had completely forgotten that Ash was an Android, so when it happened, I was like, oh, but they only call them a robot, right? They never called a robot. Yeah. I had the note, Ash is a goddamn robot. A milk-filled robot. Why the fuck is he filled with milk? Why, we gotta run on something. Well, it's synthetic blood to the, you know, technical. Milk, it does a body good. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:20:53 And Ian Holm, the actor who played him was actually allergic to milk. So you had to do these like scenes with like trying not to vomit. They had to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to do to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their their their their. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. t. the. te. te. te. teat. the. thea. thea. thea. theat. theatheatheatheatheatheatheatheathe. thery to try to get it done as quick as they possibly could. Oh, jeez. They couldn't have given them something that wasn't milk? Ridley, Scott suffers no fools apparently. I don't know. Just as an aside, that guy seems like a real fucking asshole. Yeah, he apparently told him, um, what's the name of the guy who plays Parker? Yeah, he told him he told him to he. He he. He he. He he. He told him he. He told him he. He told him told told told told told told him. He said, he. He said, he. He said, he. He said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he told, he said, told, told, he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He, the the the the the the the the the the th. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's, told, told, told, told, told, told, told, told, told, told, th. Weaver off camera so that she would like, there would be tension between them when they filmed the scenes and he was like, but I like her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Why would you unleash Yaffa Cota on somebody? He seems so nice. Yeah, I don't know. It's no worse than Kubrick unleashing the priest in the face to get him to cry at the end of the exercise. Yeah, but Cooper is inarguably a piece of shit. So, okay. I guess it's no different than Freedkin smacking the priest in the face to get him to cry at the end of the exorcist. He didn't justify the means. White guy's making movies and being dicks.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Who would have guessed? Speaking of stuff people didn't know about. Apparently he didn't tell them what was going to happen? They knew something was going to come out, but like, that's their real shock and terror, which is amazing. It's so real. They knew what was going to happen to a degree. They had seen the puppet. They knew it was going to happen, but they didn't know that everyone were just going to get
Starting point is 00:22:17 to get sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed sprayed to get sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp sp. So Veronica Cartwright, she had no idea and like accidentally she got a whole jet like right in her face so her like falling over and acting like a complete maniac is all real. That's great. Yeah you can't fake that oh god that she lets out like. One take one take they did it with a couple cameras and that was it. Oh god it's great. Poor John hurt much better than a Liam Neeson is he friends reaction. Liam Neesom? Is he friends with Stephen Kay? Yes, he is.
Starting point is 00:22:49 In the haunting, but you know. Maybe a cousin of Casey Kaysom. I don't know. Speaking of Ridley Scott being an asshole, apparently to get the cat to his or the alien. Do you want to know? He fucked with that cat. Which one? One, the one? One. One. One. One? One. One? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? the one. One. One. the one. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Is. th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is thee. Is thea. Is th. Is thea. Is to hiss at the alien. Do you want to know? He fucked with that cat? He fucked with that cat. Which one of the, one of the, one of the, quadruplets?
Starting point is 00:23:11 He put a screen in front of the cat and had a German shepherd behind it and then lifted off the screen so the cat and freak out. A fucking German shepherd. freak out too. Cop dogs. That's not so bad. I thought you were going to say like, oh he burned us with a cigar or something. Oh, well, that's it. Yeah, you want to catch a hiss. You burn it. I guess it's as lame as my underwear story. Oh, that was a great underwear story.
Starting point is 00:23:38 It was a good story. And it elicited the reaction that I was attracted to a cartoon as a child. Yeah, something wrong with that. Something had to be weird. Something did have to be weird. Someone had to go weird. It's a little sum to add to this, which I think people somewhat overlook and you know if you're a nerd about aliens, you'll get it.
Starting point is 00:23:56 If not, you'll just think I'm a gigantic nerd. In 1977, which was two years before this movie came out, the SETI program, they searched for extraterrestrial intelligence, was going pretty strong, and in 77 was when they got, if you guys know what the wow signal was. I don't, can you explain to the the. Very briefly, yeah, when they were scanning the sky, when they were scanning the sky, which they can only do so much at a time. They picked up a signal that was very strong, something they never saw before,
Starting point is 00:24:26 and was apparently a transmission from somewhere. And they try to, and the way that the transmissions work, like the Earth, because the Earth is constantly moving, you know, we stay locked on a signal for 45 minutes, I believe it is. And you have to wait for the earth to go to go to go earth to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go the earth to go the earth to go the earth to go around, try to lock on it again. So when they did that, when they came back around, it was gone. So apparently a lot of people, you know, this was big news back then. So I think people were, at least Dan O'Bannon was aware of that when he wrote this because this is kind of set off of, you know, this signal out in space. And what, you know, what would be there if you went after this signal out in space? And the signal, and the signal, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and I I th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, so I thi, so I I thi, so I I thi, so I I thi, so I I I I thi, so I I thi, so I I I thi, so I I I th. And, thin. thin. thin. thin. thi. thin. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiden it's it's the worst thing ever when you go after the silent space. Very lovecraftian. Yeah that's cool that
Starting point is 00:25:07 makes me like it a lot more knowing that it's sort of based on this thing that actually happened. I did not know that. That's really cool I don't know if there were face huggers in the true story but I hope there were I think that face. I thi th th th th th th th th th th th th thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu face thu thu- I thu- I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-s thu-s thu-s thu-s thu-s thu-s thu-s. thu-s will thu-s. thu-s will thu-s will thu-s will just love your face, not like, you know, fucking putting an ovo positor down your throat and like, they are not adorable. And I also just want to add that, uh, that with this movie that the xenomorph, the alien is arguably the best. to be arguably the best monster. I'm going to put that th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm going th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. thi. thi. the. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thee. thee. the. the. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu, no, the thing is the best creature, but I think they're like apples and oranges. You can't really compare them because that is amorphous and it can change.
Starting point is 00:25:48 This is the alien that has to stay what it is and its design is fantastic. Even though when it kills Tom Scarred at those jazz hands? He was grabbing him with his little mouth. We just didn't go that far. It was just stopped at a a a a a that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. He was grabbing him together with his little mouth. We just didn't go that far. It was just stopped at Jazz Hand and then the scene cuts. This was a man in a suit, right? This is a seven foot tall man. Yeah, that's bonkers.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Yeah, it's beautiful. Yeah. It's beautiful. I wonder if it's the same guy th. without warning. No, wasn't that, um, what's his face? Was he predator? Yeah, he was predator too. This guy was an African gentleman, I think. Oh, yeah, this is Bilaji Badeo. We only did this.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Oh, really? Yeah, they like, they met him in a pub somewhere and he was like, apparently like a graphic designer or something and they got him just to do this. Yeah, Nigerian he died at age 39 in 1992. Oh, it's a bummer. Sorry. Probably from getting abused by Rillis got. Well, he had acid blood. That's probably going to kill anybody. Oh yeah, you can't live wrong with that. It's hard. It's just a hard way to live. It's a wonderful defense mechanism. I like that though because I feel like they had to have to have been thinking like why can't they just just just just just just just just just just just just just they they they. they. they. It they. It they. It they. It they. It they. It they just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just to be to be to be to be to be just just just just just to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just they just thi. they just their thi. their their their their their their thi. their their try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. they just just they just they just they just they just they just they just just they just just to know that if you threaten the host you're gonna scare off the things that are around it. It's like fuck this thing fucking like yeah it's so creepy. Can we talk about how it gets so big so fast though? Yeah. Because like here's my question I guess they didn't know but
Starting point is 00:27:38 what were they gonna do when like it got the spaceship got there and and there's just like an android and a fucking fucking f f f f f f f f. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. the th. the the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the th. th. th. the the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. there and there's just like an Android and a fucking seven-foot tall alien. What are they going to do? Yeah. Well that kind of comes up in the second movie too. Oh really? I've seen it. I got the DVD. Which is wholeheartedly not a horror movie. That's just a straight up action. But then it goes to like, it goes back to h-Irown, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, sort, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, Jason? Let's see, there's alien, aliens, alien three, alien resurrection, and I'm just going
Starting point is 00:28:08 to stop it there because then there's alien versus predator, which are just awful. There's several of those, right? There's two of those, and then right now there's two being worked on sort of Ridley Scott's doing, well, there's Prometheus, which is... Well, no, that didn't that didn't that didn't that didn't that didn't that didn't thii. that didn't thi. thi. thi. thi. That didn't thi. That's thi. There's thi. There's thi. There's their their their their their their their their their. There's their their their their, their, their, there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's they. they. they. they. they. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. the. th. the. the. the. their. there It turns out that we all imagine that movie. Oh, it sure didn't happen. And now he's working on another one called, it's alien, oh man, I forget what it's called. It'll be terrible too. And then, um... Ridley Scott versus his fans? Seriously. And then there's another one, I don't know if it's still on Neil Blomcamp, the guy that did District 9. He was working on an alien move, but I think that guy can because Ridley Scott got upset that somebody else was working on his franchise. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Yeah. That guy. I like District 9. District 9. District 9 is great. District 9. . Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:02 . . . Matt Damon's Matt Damon's And Jody's fosters is that a contact or is that the Martian? Elysium I think it was called don't know elisio yeah It wasn't too good no all right They can't all be winners Space That one happens on earth. No, no, don't it's not a space movie. It's okay. I like contact, I was just thinking about the fact that I liked contact. Yeah, that's because it's got hunky-hunky-mathomahe in it.
Starting point is 00:29:28 I never had a thing for Matthew McAmy-Hay. I think Brian from Wings is in it, though. Is he? He? He could be. You might want to talk shit out. Like you should have seen my notes for the haunting because it's like 15 pages of like single-spaced just notes about how terrible everything was.
Starting point is 00:30:00 And this is just like, I don't know, I'm just watching it. It's fantastic. It's good. The horrible, the one horrible thing that always get that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the theate thi. thi. theat, thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. It's th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. It's fantastic. Great, it's good. Yeah, the one horrible thing that always get pointed out is when they, when Ash, his head and they show that part, but it's like his head and that it's an obvious cut to this like rubber head. But apparently that was just like a mistake they could do with what they had, which was not that bad. Yeah, no, you knew who it was.
Starting point is 00:30:29 They couldn't do another mold, they ran out of time. So apparently they could have done better, but he was really upset and then Ian Holm was really, really upset. I don't know. that. Come down, Bilbo. Yeah, no interviews ever. He's Bilbo and... What? How did I not notice that? Mind, blone. I like that movie.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Yeah? It's not about space. Do you... Do you think this is our most financially successful movie we've done? I don't know. What kind of like turnaround did it have? Well, I don't know, the box office according to Wikipedia is 104.9 to 203.6 million which is a very vast range. Is that US and then international? It might be. Okay That's probably what it is. Yeah which means that this is probably the most fiscally sound movie we've ever done. Either that or Halloween. No no. Do you think I made more than the Shining? Ooh, that's a good question. I'll look that up. So where did the Shining pull down?
Starting point is 00:31:29 According to Wikipedia, they only have the US, but it's 44 million, so it sounds like Alien was significantly more successful. Yeah. It was sort of in that sci-fi heyday of the 70s, too, so, you know. Yeah, it only got greenlit because of how popular Star Wars was. Really? Yeah. So we have Star Wars, I think, for this. Yeah, 20th Century Fox. They only had one like, spacey movie on their, you know, in their studio at the time and it was alien.
Starting point is 00:31:54 So it got green light. Because this movie was almost a Roger Corman movie. Yeah, I can and I don't think it would be very good. They would only be like... We need to be talking about it. There would only be like one or two penises and vaginas and it, not a whole movie of them. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I haven't. Significantly less. For you're the tauare. I have.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Have you ever seen Mar, Jason? I have. I just started watching Star Trek The Next Generation. Oh, nice. I kind of like it. Yeah. A lot of carpet. Yeah. It's just like a hotel. Oh, it's not. The whole place. It's just like a hotel. Yeah. The sets are real bad if I remember correctly. the set's are real bad if I remember correctly. It's bad. It. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's kind. It's. It's. It's. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. I. I. I kind. I kind. I kind. I kind. I kind. I kind. I ki. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. bad if I remember correctly, like. Bad. Like, yeah. And if you want to talk about vampires, Patrick Stewart is a vampire. Yeah. Planet of the Vampires was supposedly a big influence on this movie, though I think Ridley Scott denies it? Well, he invented this movie.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Or does he not? I actually don't know. I have not heard that before. Oh okay yes the only other link to end another story that I really know like the legitimate link is that Dan O'Bannon said that and this is this is like real and love crafting and nerd stuff but that the alien creatures are kind of the shug of the shuggin from from the at the mountains of madness okay which is like it's also supposed to be a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the only only only only only only only only the the the the the the the only only only only only only the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the only only only only only only the the the the the only only only only only only only the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the mountains of madness. Okay. It's also supposed to be the perfect organism, which is what the xenomorph is supposed to be, and also what the shugger is supposed to be.
Starting point is 00:33:28 So he kind of said that this is, I guess if you can imagine that the shuggets made it to another planet. This is how they made. This is what they look Because they grow in an hour the heat breed and kill like that's that's all they do right like They're like sharks basically Yeah sharks or they're more Later movie kind of establishes it more but they're kind of more like bees or hands like a hive mind. Oh. Yeah, I guess we just have one in this movie and the later movies. the the third one only has one too, but yeah, thoub. I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. that's that's th. That's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. That's th. th. this movie, and in later movies, there's millions of them, right? And like, well, yeah, the third one only has one too, but yeah. I thought there was the dog one and the third one.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Yeah, that's the, there's only one of them in that. Oh, okay. Can I ask for a spoiler for another movie? Yeah. Yeah. Who wins in a ta? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th Whoever, the tagline was whoever wins, we lose and we really lost, so that's all I could say. Movies are terrible. We being the viewing audience. Yeah. That's a really unfortunate tagline for a movie the fans aren't going to like. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:39 They did pretty well though, I thought. I mean well enough to make a sequel, right? The first one did okay, but like, I don't know what happened. Well, I do know what happened. It wasn't done by Stan Winston, that's what happened, and the creature effects are really bad. And then the second one of them is like, it's R-rated, it's gorier, but there's teenagers in it? I don't know. I don't know. Oh, this is our second movie in a row with Jerry Goldsmith's score. He also did the score for The Haunting.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Oh, I think we talked about Jerry Goldsmith quite a bit on this podcast. He did the soundtrack for Warlock. Our first episode. Yeah. Do you realize that's why I subscribed to you guys because I was like, nobody even knows that movie. And I was like, these guys started with Warlock that's fantastic. It was it was mind-blowing to me. Yeah because yeah no me my friend I call him redfern like that's my nickname for him nice. Does he look like
Starting point is 00:35:36 Brian from wings? Uh not at all and I don't even know why I call him that, but if you want to imagine he does I'm imagining Brian from wings? I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi thi th. thi th. th. th. th. th. I do. I'm imagining Brian from Wings, so that's fine. I think you just think everyone, I think you think I look like Ryan from Wings. Do you think you don't? Alan, my bearded Brian from Wings, friend. I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm just a series of the bays where Ash does the weird magazine and her mouth thing that's really upsetting, there's just like a bunch of naked Asian ladies and then a picture of fried eggs?
Starting point is 00:36:13 I didn't notice that. That's great. What weird space pornography is that? Oh man. Well I guess if you were far from Earth it'd be really hard to get eggs. Yeah, which is hilarious though. They're just like, oh man, these chicks are like thaaa's weird. tha's weird. the weird. the weird. th. th. the weird. th. th. the weird. the weird. the weird. the weird. th. the weird. the weird. the weird. the weird. the weird. the weird. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the weird, the's weird weird weird weird weird weird weird, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the th. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. thi. the. thi. the. thi. thi. the. thi. the. the hard to get eggs. Yeah. Which is hilarious though. They're just like, oh man, these chicks are real hot. Just like jerking it to some fried eggs. Just like imagining yourself putting, like, dip in the bread in, like, yeah. I'm so glad you're not fucking the egg, but you're just getting real awful things about eating the egg. Yeah. I feel like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like the the the the the the the the th you th you th you th you the thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi, I thi, thi, thi thi thi, thi's like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm just like just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, just like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I feel like there's a lot of photos of food you could probably jerk it too. I mean, especially if you were in space for a long time, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Wow, if that line doesn't get on a t-shirt, you guys have a missed opportunity. Let's move on to the, uh, the ratings face. All right, who wants to go, do you want to go first, Jason? Do you want to, do you want to move? Uh, yeah, I give it a, uh, ten faces hugged. Oh, come here a little bit of a face. Just get over here a little bit of the face. Or ten chest bursts, I don't know. So you just think that it's a perfect film? It's such a time capsule movie now,
Starting point is 00:37:26 because it's, I mean, it's not that old, but like, it's a standard for so many other movies that it's like, even its flaws are what make it adorable. So I have to like, I have to say it's, for me, it's one of the few perfect films for me. Oh, outstanding. Nice. Yeah, I was wondering while watching this is that if this movie like kind of holds the same place as the Beatles do for some people where it's like, this just sort of started a thing.
Starting point is 00:37:53 This like, or have not started it, like, refined it and made it a perfect thing. Would you like to do your rating next kid? Sure. I, I'm not so into space but this movie... That's a real deer breaker for you, huh? This movie is, it's also long but it's very engaging like from the second you put it on until it's the credits roll you're not getting up, you're not going to the bathroom. You're not doing anything, you're just watching this movie. I love that face hugger. And I love the chest bursting scene. I know everybody loves it th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the theat theat the thi thi theat theat the. I the. I'm not the're not going to the bathroom you're doing anything you're just watching this movie I love that face hugger and I love the chest bursting scene I know everybody loves it but I really love it and also I read that during a preview screening of the film it was like
Starting point is 00:38:32 so upsetting that a female usher in the movie theater just fainted and yes that's awesome so yeah so people puking in a movie theater is something that I fucking love. I just really think- I wish we could go back to it. It's like that and the Exorcist. I wish I was at like one screening of each. I know, I've never seen anything where that's actually happened. Because I think we're give this movie a nine. I think this is, I think it's only flaws that it's in space.
Starting point is 00:39:08 I know I'm really beating that point to death, but it's, I just, you know how people say like when they think about space, it makes them feel like, makes them and that is like comforting to people. Yeah. I like find that terrifying. Sure. Because like why bother? I'd rather just not if I'm just a speck of dust. So it freaks me out. Okay. Yeah this is a really great movie and I love Sigourney Weaver so. Yeah it is fantastic. Real quick before my rating I do want to mention that this is our second appearance of the nostromo baseball cap because neon Neon Maniac's the director girl and that was wearing that baseball cap. Oh yeah, that's right. Speaking of fantastic movies. So good. It's like aliens. Have you seen it Jason? Did you watch Neon Maniac? I actually I actually haven't never seen that movie. You should see it. It's on YouTube. Oh it's on YouTube. Oh, yeah. I think you'll dig it for the the the the the the the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the monster the the the the the the the the the the the movie. I think you'll... Oh, it's on YouTube. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Oh, yeah. I think you'll dig it for the monster design of nothing else. Like, it's really fun. Oh, I've meant to. I think I've seen everything else that you guys have covered except for that Indiana flats or something like that monster. I haven't seen that one either. Did you see Office Killer? Because that's the other one, nobody's. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Oh God. I did track that one down because I was trying to stay current with you guys and that was a gym. I'm so sorry. Thanks, Kelly. But now I want to talk about an amazing movie. I have to give this movie a ten as well. Like this is a movie that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. I was thi. I was thi. I have thi. I have thi. You were saying there's a ton of continuity errors right?
Starting point is 00:40:48 Yeah I went I was going to reading all the continuity errors and I'm like you're reading. You guys are just assholes like. I don't notice anything. Yeah. It's like oh man and what it's got in his left and his right. And it's like the he's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. It's got. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, no, I think this is just such a well-executed film and just, ah. It makes me so sad for the state of Ridley Scott today, like after seeing Prometheus and all that.
Starting point is 00:41:15 So bad. Don't ever watch it. It's part of this series? Yeah, it's like, it's part, it's part, it's part of the series, the series, the series, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. It, th. It's, th. It's like the prequel or something. It's got Idris Elba in it and that didn't win that movie over for me. I'd watch that dude watch paint dry. Oh, yeah, we're that. Ah, just trying on different sweaters. Just like drinking a cup of coffee quietly. But yeah, this movie is a ten. It's so good. It's so, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the the the the the the the th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's thi. It's th. But yeah this movie is a ten it's so good it's so the cast is
Starting point is 00:41:47 unreal how good they are like they just got amazing character actors and we're like just do this just make this happen like you're not a sci-fi movie you're just in a fucking movie so just do this yeah I got damn it oh god damn it's a shut it down we're done yeah this ruined year of rage. Thanks, three episodes in. No, it's good. We needed a break from terrible, terrible things. Speaking of, what are we doing next week?
Starting point is 00:42:17 Oh, next week, Katie, we're going to do Stephen King's thinner. Yeah, we're doing it. We're really doing it. I've never seen it. I haven't either. It's on Netflix. You guys should watch it. Just like know that we're going to say Stephen Kang at least a hundred times. So like just be ready, okay? What if we try and put a moratorium on it? It's just going to be the elephant in the room. Yeah, we can't do it. All right, Jason, do you want to plug your stuff? I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Parcel of terror if you guys haven't heard before on previous episodes, it's a monthly subscription box of horror items all hand made by me and a few other artists from them undertime. It's 35 bucks a month a month at a time where you can keep it going, which is really awesome let me do that. It's at Crypticurium.com that's CRY-y-y-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-cary-c-c-c-c-c-c-O-C-U-R-I-U-M.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Mail them. And, yeah, I've had, I've had this. And then we also have an Etsy store too, you can check this out there. Oh, I didn't know the Etsy store. Cool. We're also on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. You get Tumblr? We had a Tumblr. You don't have a Pinterest? Should we have Pinterest? Oh God.
Starting point is 00:43:26 What do we do with a Pinterest? We couldn't do an Angel Fire or a Tumblr. What do we can? Are we guys just doing these things and then abandoning them? Tumblr is easy. You just got to link it to your, like, you can link your Instagram. It just does it automatically. That seems hard. Yeah, I'm 41 years old. I don't know how to link things to things. Someone was telling me about some program that links all your social media, like it's hoot suite or something?
Starting point is 00:43:49 I don't know if you've heard of this, yeah. And I was like, that sounds too hard. It's actually ridiculously easy, but sure. It's actually ridiculously easy. Can I ask you a quick. A to to ask to ask to ask to ask, to ask, to ask, to ask, to to ask, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a too, too, to, to, to, to, to, to, the to, to, the the to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. tho, tho, tho, thi. thi. thi. thi. that. that. that, that, that, thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I quick question about the process of making this stuff? Sure. A lot of it's made out of resin, is that correct? Yes. So do you just make a mold and then fill the mold over and over and then hand paint them? Yeah, what I do first is I make a sculpture. I usually make them out of what's called sculpy. It's like an oven bake like because it's quick to do. I do the sculpture out of that and then that sculpture I make a mold from and then
Starting point is 00:44:27 the mold that's what gets for the the casting resin it's it's a liquid resin and it's just basically plastic it turns to hard plastic and then each one gets hand-painted. Fuck! That's nuts! Oh god. The fact that you do that little sculpt? Yeah I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't th. I'll th. Yeah. I'll that's th. th. Yeah. th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the. It's the the the. It's the. It's the. It's the. It's the. It's th. So you guys should definitely, definitely do this. Like check this out, get invested. Yeah. Send Jason all of your money. Support artists and don't just buy dumb shit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think I actually started the whole subscription box thing. When I last Christmas someone sent me, it's called lootate, it's another one, but it's just filled with like junk. Yeah. And I was like, wouldn't it be cool if someone made, I don't know, one with hand-made stuff in it? And then it's just like a light bulb appeared above my head.
Starting point is 00:45:12 And I was just like, well, let's do it. There has to be times where you're like, Especially when you have three kids running here. It's every month and it's always after I'm done painting the magnets. Like my wife will come look at me. I've got like dark circles around my eye. She's like, what are you working on the magnets? I'm like, yep. You said the state puff marshmallow man almost did you in. Wasn't that the one that was a ton of detail painting?
Starting point is 00:45:38 Oh yeah, that one. And I'm that one I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. that one. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. th. the the the th. the the th. th. the th. the th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. was like I was using what's known as a double a triple zero brush which is basically like one hair to do his eyeballs and I'm sitting there doing it I'm like what am I doing? Yeah I was like never never again and then you know next month I'm doing it on the magnets so I'm just like you know all right Jason well thank you so much and thi thi thrown the the the the th I th I th I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that the the. the. the. the. that that the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm basically thi. I'm basically thi. I'm and for supporting us. Yeah, this has been great. Thank you so much. And thanks for Alien. I would not have watched it again for a while. Such a nice way to wrap up my New Year's Day.
Starting point is 00:46:12 I was like, I like to go back to work soon, like the holidays are over. And then I watch Alien, I was like, yeah. I was like, yeah. And I love the show seriously, so I try to. I'm glad to be involved in at least a small way. Oh no, you're involved in a huge way. I'd say you're married to us now. You're our husband. Oh. I don't know what Alan told you. I didn't. I'm just fighting this out now.
Starting point is 00:46:37 I like it. Oh, you can find us on Facebook. We are wherewoolanance. Oh on Instagram we are where will fambulance, on Twitter we are wear abulance. Do you want to be our social media intern? Let us know. Because we're doing kind of a crappy job. I like didn't do anything for the what movie we're doing post. I haven't done shit.
Starting point is 00:46:57 It's in the holidays. You don't have to do shit. You know you're doing shit. T-shirts, they're in the works. They're in the works. Oh, I need to talk to you about that after this. Oh, hey, they're in the works. Thank you so much again for listening to another after episode of Warewolf Ambulance. By. By. Ha ha ha!
