Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 67- Phantasm (1979)

Episode Date: February 1, 2016

In this week's episode, we get deep into some dream logic with the dream-like 1979 horror film "Phantasm." Special topics of conversation include: whether or not anyone can pull off Reggie Bannister's... hair, being "Phantasm-good" at acting, trying out one's new peeper, the lack of work on the part of the folks who came up with the He-Man characters' names and asking a lot of questions that begin with "but why...?" I bet we don't have anybody listening in Utah. I'll check the stats while we carry on with this episode.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Katie, this week we are going to be talking about the classic film from 19. Classic? Fantastic? Fantasm. Oh yeah, big time. People love this movie, huh? Yeah, one of them being me. Yeah, oh no, I know that. This movie hit me at a very critical point, you know. Oh, wow. It's so mean, I'm sorry I'm doing that. Oh, I have feelings.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Look at my fefies. You know, again, it's in, it's a 19, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's a, it's, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th in that 1983 to 88 period of my life that thing, like everything came into my life and I loved it and it changed me forever. But this film introduced me to that almost felini-esque amount of abstraction and nightmarish quality that I so love in like something like Suspira or this movie where there's just like, it's got an internal logic that doesn't really make any fucking sense but it's like it's working within its own sort of dream fiction and logic and I love it for that. What year was this? 1979 and what year was Susperea?
Starting point is 00:01:56 Uh like 76 I think something like that. The soundtrack is just a fairy plate and rip off of Susphera. Yeah, it's a great soundtrack. I love the soundtrack to this movie. Strongly disagree. My friend Sal says that this is his favorite non-carpenter horror soundtrack. It just, for me, switches back and forth from cheap Susperea and Hugo's House of Horrors, the Doss game. Oh, 185 downloads from Utah. Hey, thanks guys. Utah, give me two.
Starting point is 00:02:32 It's a point break reference. No, yeah, I know. I know. It's another movie you really like. It's a good one. Oh, God. Oh, 1977 was Susperea. OK. Before the internet corrects me.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Do you want to do to do to Okay. Before the internet corrects me. Yeah. Do you want me to do a quick summation in this movie? If you can. Here's the thing. I watched this, I had to watch this in like three segments. Oh no. But I don't think it matters. You could probably have watched it in three nonlinear.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Yeah, I don't. I want you to do it so that some things in my notes maybe become clear to me. Okay, so this is a movie that follows two brothers, Jody and Mike, as they are traveling the suburban waists of California in this rural area in 1979, and they end up running a foul of the mortician at the local funeral home who may or may not be an alien. That was one of my questions. Carry on. He's an alien.
Starting point is 00:03:35 They're a good friend Reggie Bannister. Can I stop on Reggie Bandister real quick. He's the ice cream man. And Josh from the Neon Maniac's episode once told me that he thought that he could pull off that haircut... No...... No. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the local the local the local the local the local the local the local the local the local the local the localon Maniacs episode once told me that he thought that he could pull off that haircut. No Josh. Wait, wait, Josh is not ball. Nobody went ball. I thought it was gonna be a choice. I think I could rock that. Josh nobody can rock that. So Reggie was as close as you're gonna get. So the two, they have to try to defeat this alien over lord mortician and chaos fucking reigns.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I mean, why do they have to defeat him? Why can't they just leave him alone? Well he's already killed a friend of theirs and turned him into a dwarf. And he's gunning for him, he's like showing up at the house and his finger turns into a bug. He turns into a yarn monster on a string. Why is he gunning for them? Boy. Yeah. Because they know. They've seen his room with the tuning forks. And, oh man, so much good stuff in this movie. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:51 I watched like the first half of it all at once. Okay. And I turned it off because I was furious. So there had only been like 20 lines of dialogue in the first half of this movie. And then I later realized it's just because the acting is terrible. They are terrible. Jody. J. J. J. J. J. J. J. J. J. J. th. Jody. th. thi. thi. thi. they. thi. thi. thi. they. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. the th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to thi. to to thi. the thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. this movie. And then I later realized it's just because the acting is terrible. Whoa! They are terrible. Jody is the worst actor I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Sick guitar player though. Sick guitar player. He's done some hot licks. Hot licks. Yes. He just does this thinking face that I really like, and it is not good and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it is not good, and it's not good, and it's, and it's not good, and it's not good, and it's, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's not the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi... thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the just like, I'm thinking, I don't know. He's very bad. And the kid is not much better, but I will give him a pass because he's a child. I don't think Jody was in many other things besides this movie.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Oh, you don't say. The kid looks like a baby member of like a baby throke. He looks like you should be a baby strokke. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is, is thi, is thi, thi, is thi, is thi, is, is th. And, is th. And, is, is thi, is thi, is thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is not, thi, thi, is not, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi baby version of like every guy I had a crush on in college. Okay. He looks like he should be a baby strokes. Which I realized was at that time, you know, the first time around. He was just accurate at that point. Yeah, right. Yeah. And Reggie Vanister looks like nobody else on the fucking planet. I have some issues with Reggie Bannister. Oh, go ahead. Let's get into some Reggie Bannister issues. Well, they're not really issues so much. It's just like... I mean, he's an ice cream man. Yeah. He's like really living the gimmick. He wears the ice cream man outfit. With a leather vest over top of it. Twenty-four. thing about how hot it is outside and how they gotta go get the kids after summer school. They're wearing coats the entire movie. Everyone is wearing
Starting point is 00:06:28 70s. You gotta have a coat on. I don't think it was that. I know global warming is a thing. It's so cold in the 70s. 70s, aka the other ice age. The nice age. He's just really committed to, I don't know, it's a career for him, the ice cream man thing. Because he's like 45 years old. He is old. The first note I have about this movie is just cover that one boob. Because Tommy I guess, who is? He's just their friend? Yeah, he's their bro. He's just their bro? Yeah, he's just their bro. They're bro, he's just their brother. A bro, but not a brother. In the sly. And what the kids say it, bro.
Starting point is 00:07:10 And their vernacular. Sure. Their friend, their buddy. Their buddy with the mustache. He's the mustache, He's the graveyard, their bodies aren't lining up at all when you see their legs. But she's just covering one boob with her hand.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Those are stunt boobs, by the way. The woman didn't want her boobs on camera. Imagine that being your job, just stunt tits. Did they, did, did stunt tits? Did the, did the stunt what the credit was, but. Probably like some body stand-in or something. The body double, probably. The woman whose face you're seeing over and over,
Starting point is 00:07:52 she's very conservative and did not want her breasts on film. Good thing she's designed on to do this movie. And wanted to make sure that people knew, so she demanded that the body double get a credit. So she can be like, that's not me. Look, look, look. It's very nice of her, I guess. Yeah. Well, whatever. So I do want to talk about this first scene, because it's one of my favorite ridiculous things in this movie. So they're making out.
Starting point is 00:08:14 And then, when we first see this to like logically work. And then she kills Tommy and it's revealed that she is the tall man. Yeah. It was a creepy, creepy thing to have happened. Very creepy. But that leads me to, you know, the tall man was fucking Tommy. What? You had sex with that old man? Like, do you think he, do you think he was like, yeah? I mean, like, if you could have a vagina for like any amount of time that you wanted as part of your body and you weren't used to, I guess you'd probably be like, well, all right. I mean, if the rolls were reversed, and I was like, I was like, I got a peeper. You couldn't know, I'm gonna know, I'm gonna to to know, I'm gonna to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to the to the the to to the the tha. I'm gonna tha. I'm gonna. I'm gonna tha. I'm gonna thi. I'm the the the the the the thi. I'm thi. I'm to have a to have a thi. I'm thi. thi. thi. thi. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. t. too. too. too. too. toe. toe. toe. too. toe. too. toe. toe. too. toe. toe. toe. You couldn't know I'm going to try to put it in somebody. You don't think he was just like, it's a living. Yes, I actually do. I do.
Starting point is 00:09:10 This is what I got to do to get these grease balls to come hang out with me. Oh man. Like, OK. Okay. All right. Let's just keep moving. Oh, this movie brings me so much joy. I have not made up my mind about it. So when we get to the end of the episode, you have a chance to sell me. Yes. I'm hoping my sheer exuberance about how stupidly, ridiculously beautiful this movie.
Starting point is 00:09:33 You know enthusiasm doesn't really do it for me. Enthusiasm and kindness are repulsing things to Katie. They really are. I can't stand people to be nice doing. Oh, shit. So we catch up with Jody and Mike and Reggie and they're going to Tommy's funeral. There's the scene of Mike riding his motorcycle through the cemetery. He like later tries to escape on it. You cannot casually escape from somewhere on a dirt bike. You just can't. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Yeah. Mike. I watched this with the commentary last night because I've seen it so many times and I was like, I'll just watch it with the commentary. Who does the commentary? It's Jody and Mike and Angus Grimm and Don Don Coscarelli, writer, producer, director. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Never a good combo. There's like no no man on that, you know, and there needed to be a no-man. I think he mailed it. Oh, yeah, I know. And Angus Grimm actually mentions that and he's like, he did everything, it was great. They shot this over a year. It took them a year like shooting on a week. the took them a year like shooting, like, the the the the their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they. they. they. they. they. th. th. th. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. I. I. I. they. I. I. the end of the film. Mike's like a teenager? Yeah, he's way more mature than he is. His like nose is all like grown out and stuff.
Starting point is 00:10:46 He definitely grows several inches over the course of this movie. They had to start shooting him in shadow because he'd grown so much. Poor planning. Let's get a preteen and spend a year on them. Well, they shot them over $300,000. That was just a dude had that explosive laying around. He's like, want to put it in the car? They're like, yeah, put in the fucking car. It's just like, dude's making a movie. Like, yeah, blow it up.
Starting point is 00:11:10 This movie made $12 million. That's crazy. Yeah. It feels like, and it's always sunny in Philadelphia how they're always making lethal weapon five. One's six. That's what this movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie the movie movie the movie the movie the movie movie movie the movie movie this movie felt a bit like. I mean, I can't even like, there's the, the, I'm not even gonna bother trying to, like, you see this fucking movie guys, like, you know, just hunt it down. It's not too easy to find on the internet. No, I'd illegally download it.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Sorry, Comcast. Woo, woo, woo, woo. What if this is what I go down for phantasm. They call me the piano man. So I'm not going to try to wrap this, like go linearly wrap this up. I'm just going to talk about some of my favorite scenes. Please do. So I'm going to ask you about notes that I have and you can't tell the tell tell the the the the the me what they mean. The dwarfs are little kids. Yeah, obviously.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah, and they're just acting like fucking maniacs. They were just like, they let them like, fucking raise hell and it's awesome. No, please. What are the dwarfs? So, they're his slaves? And they live in kegs? They take the dead people out of caskets and they shmush they're shmushed their their them down? Magic's. Yes. Are they on another planet?
Starting point is 00:12:26 There's like a weird exposition part that I was putting my shoes on and like couldn't really watch. So there's the scene where they go through the tuning forks which is a really well shot scene I think it looks awesome like where he's putting his hand in between them because there's a mirror set up so you can't see what's what's going on. I the the the the the the the the the the their their their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah... Yeah. Yeah.. Yeah...... Yeah....... Yeah.................. the the the the.... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.... Yeah.. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I thought that was really cool to you. No, yeah, it looked good. And so Mike falls into this alternate dimension, which is like maybe supposed to represent death. It's supposed to be like the death dimension. And so all the little dwarf, formerly dead people, now dwarf slaves are moving units.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I don't know what the fuck they're doing. Yeah, that's their their their they doing? Why is this happening? What is their goal? What is their outcome? There's no motivation for what's happening here. That doesn't bother you? Do you wish that they had a reason? No, I'm fine with it. You think he just wanted little companions? It look like Orco?
Starting point is 00:13:17 They're doing something. Is that what his name was? For me, he-man. They really do, though. Let's be real. Yeah, Worko got a, he kind of got a good name, because everybody else is just like, I'm man at arms, fucking Beastman, got shit into the stick. Was this one who smelled bad? Do you remember that? Oh, well, was it stink?
Starting point is 00:13:37 Stink war? Come on, he-man. Come on. He-man, even he-man. And Shira. I had a bong in college name Shira. This is my real life. This is what I'm going to go down for. Did you call yourself Battlecat and you were going to hit Shira? No, and I wish I had. But back up to the, to the little dwarf people, right? This came out two years after Star Wars, but was being filmed while Star Wars was happening. And so someone like came to the set,
Starting point is 00:14:07 was like, yo, I saw Star Wars, they've got your dwarves in it. Because the Jawaws look like the dwarfs. Oh, I always think they look like Orgo and the times I've seen that. Yeah, yeah. And he was just like, well, I'm not gonna reshoot this shit. Are they? Yeah, who cares? I mean, really who cares at that point?
Starting point is 00:14:26 Like, are you competing with Star Wars? No, you have to know if when you're filming this movie on the weekends, that you're not competing with Star Wars, right? I mean, they made good not. They did a really good business for like, really? He mentions that there's the Barakuda, which is a fucking badass car. So the car that Mike and... Wee! Wee!
Starting point is 00:14:52 You knew I had two, I'm sorry. No, it is a badass car. That they're driving. They're letting a child drive. Which in the common area, they're like, oh man, you got the cuda, and you're just, you're just, you're just, you're just, you're just, the the the coda, the the the the the the the the the the the the the tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, thah, the thah, thah, tho, that, the that, th. th. th. th. th. th. tha, the the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, the car, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, tha, that, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha,, oh man, you got the kuda, right? The kuda is yours, you got the kuda? And we're just like, please stop saying kuda. I do not like that. Can I say one other thing about cars? Please. I like when, early?
Starting point is 00:15:13 I wanted to have nothing to do with the movie. Can I tell you something about cars? Yeah, I spilled this mout. I'm their. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the the the the th. th. th. the th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the th. Can I say. Can I say. Can I say. Can I say. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. Can. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. I say. th's a thing that I really liked slash hated in this movie, which is when the car is chasing them, and Jody's like, oh the hearse, yeah. The hearse, yeah, yeah. He's like, there's nobody driving that mother. And I was like, wait a minute, and I rewound it, and there's clearly just a person driving that car. Like, it's not even remotely hidden.
Starting point is 00:15:42 I get it it's low budge you have to have somebody driving the car but then like you can't have this shot where someone is clearly driving the car and be like there's nobody driving it I just saw them what was at a time where you couldn't rewind the film so if like he told you that it happened you're like alright that's fine the crazy thing is so they're they the the the theyn. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they they they they they they they they they they they they the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. the they. the they. the they. the the they. the the they. the the the the the they're fuck they were doing. So the scenes where they're in the car driving, they're driving. So he's like got the camera like all up in Mike's shit while he's driving. He's a child. He's a little baby child. It's a child.
Starting point is 00:16:15 So like, they were he's shooting the shotgun out of the sunroof He's shooting the shotgun and Cusk really is right in front of him while he's shooting it Like I don't what the fuck were we thinking like what were they thinking? What were they thinking? They're really lucky somebody didn't die and everybody was like? You know angus scrim was driving the driving the hurs so like all like all like the speed the the the speed the speed the speed the speed the speed the speed the the the speed the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff. they. they. they. they. they. the the the the tree. try. try. try. try. the the the try. the the the the they. they. I's. I's. I's. I's. the speed driving they're doing is him and he's like oh yeah and I didn't have my glasses on. Why? Why did he not his glasses on? Because he had to be seen as the tall man. But I thought oh oh when he's driving later when like shoots the gun in the car and he doesn't even react the driver doesn't the driver doesn't even react? Like what in what universe? All of it can be explained by the ending of the movie, but we'll get to that. Can it? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. All right, well, you're going to have to explain this to me.
Starting point is 00:17:07 So, another one of my favorite scenes is when they go and visit the, um, the fortune teller. And there's just like the teenage girl who just not playing the form. I don't remember that at all. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thus. thus. thus. thus. thus. the. the. the. thus. thus. thea. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tetheir face. They never come back. Well, the young girl goes to the mortuary. What? She goes in the funeral home and opens the door to screams. I don't remember that at all. Yeah, yeah, she walks in the morning side cemetery. But that scene is just so like out of fucking left field. So like, there's this scene.
Starting point is 00:17:35 the fortune teller and there's this box that appears that he has to put his hand inside of it. And it's like this implied threat inside the box. And then like, you know, whatever happens, the transpires the fortune is told and he has to put his money on top the box and then the box just disappears off the table. And it's like for me, that's the point where the thrue, that's that's that's th's th's the point's thin point's the point's the point, thin, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the.... the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.ally bonkers. But it takes such a weird form though, because there's that scene where Reggie is in the house and it's like a kind of a tense moment and he walks around the corner and there's just like a middle-aged black woman there. And he's like, oh, Myrtle. We've never seen her before, we never see her again. Apparently there are scenes with her that scene. But they wanted her to be in the movie.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Okay. So I love it. Um, so another great scene is when Mike sneaks into the mortuary. You mean when he just casually kicks in that fucking window after about 30 exterior building shots because that's a large portion of this movie. Yeah, yeah. Just they're like let's shoot it in the day. Let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, th, th, the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. So, so thoo. So, so th. So, okay. So, okay. So, okay. So, okay. So, okay. So, okay. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, t t t th. So, th. t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t too. t t t t t t too. So, okay. So, okay. So, okay. So, yeah. Just, they're like, let's shoot it in the day. Let's shoot it at night. Let's shoot it in the sunset.
Starting point is 00:18:49 Let's shoot it at 90 degrees. Let's shoot it at 45 degrees. And let's put them all in. The beautiful mansion. I mean, we could talk love the scene where he sneaks him in the mortuary and he's hiding in the casket when like the groundskeeper Willie comes in. Who was that guy? He was just a guy? He was just like a number two. I said, it was like, oh, some other guy.
Starting point is 00:19:10 He was just a guy who got ordered around by Angus Crim. Was he an alien? I think he was supposed to be dead. But he gets the phantasm ball. He's the first time we see that kill anybody. Yeah, it's pretty gross. And it just sticks in his head and then drills into his face and shoots blood out of it for like 20 minutes and that he pisses himself. Oh, I didn't notice that.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Apparently, like, sometimes when you see the film, you can't see the pee. Like, I don't know, like there's just like the gamma or something. Yeah, yeah, like the the contrast is. Yeah. So but like on the copy that I have you can totally make the urine out and it's kind of like leaking towards Mike when he's on the floor just adds this extra layer of like, whoa, hold on. It sucks that when you're dead. You can still embarrassingly put your pants. Oh, what I mean? you're going to. Yeah, and you're to to to to to to to to to to sh going to to to s going to to to s going to to to to to to to the to to the to to to the to to the to to the to to the to the to the the the the the to the to be like, the to me to me to me to me to me to me the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to be tot. And totally. And totally. And. And. And. And. And. totally. toooooooooooooooooooom. And. of something in peace, you know, it just seems like you should be exempt from that. But I think he cuts off the finger too. Yeah, so Angus Grimm is chasing him in a really tense scene where they're running around the mortuary where they had like that Mexican standoff for a little while they're both kind of
Starting point is 00:20:17 like walk at each other and they just start. start, damn, da da da, da, da, running around. And so he slams Angus Grimm's fingers in the, or the tall man's fingers in the door, and then hacks him off of his knife that he's putting into his athletic sock. I'm shaking my head. They heard that. He picks one of the fingers of it sticks in his fucking pocket. Just plops it right in his pocket. It's bleeding, busting mustard. Yeah. It's gross. Yeah, he the, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He, he. He. He, he. He. He, he. He. He. He. He, he. He. He, he. He, he. He. He, he's th. He's th. He's th. He's just, he's just just just just just just th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, he's, he's's gross yeah yeah yeah just puts in his pocket well they wanted to have the different color of blood so that you would be like oh well they're oh no no I did I liked it I definitely liked it but I for me it so I was just like why he's even mustard doesn't make sense can I have a pretzel like it is a different right in there right in there who puts that fucking finger in their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just thi thi thi tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. It's just just just tt Just dip right in there. Who puts that fucking finger in their jacket pocket?
Starting point is 00:21:06 So he takes it home and shows it in a box and then shows it to Jody. And it's still wiggling. It's still wiggling. You guys here, it's still wiggling. I like that to. Yeah. Jody's he can't read. You know what I mean? That's me punching. Yeah. I saw it. I heard. He looks like he can't read. He looks illiterate. Poor Jody. He's like
Starting point is 00:21:34 a little bit, oh, crosshide or something. I don't know. Well, I guess this comes into play later, but he never reprimands this brother that he's in charge of and he was constantly doing the opposite of what he tells him to do. th. th. th. th. th. th. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. That's, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. That's, th. That's, th. That's, th. That's, to. to. to. th. to. th. th. thi. to. thi. to. thi. this brother that he's in charge of and he was constantly doing the opposite of what he tells him to do. Well their parents have died and I think Jody's kind of like he wants to be a little bit like Mike you know you gotta do your thing. But he also picks him up and locks him in a room with a screwdriver you know what he the one when he breaks out he broke out of that room was... How did he know how to build a bomb? Which apparently do not try that at home? Because it will not work, you will just shoot shrapnel in your fucking face.
Starting point is 00:22:12 But he did scotch tapes a shotgun shell to a hammer and then smacks into the door. With like a thumb together of all the objects on his desk that were conveniently liberated there. And I was just like, I don't even understand how, I, wait, okay, all right, nothing else has made sense, so keep on cruising. Let's talk about the greatest padding out of a film scene ever. Which is then? Which is when Jody's playing guitar out on the front stage.
Starting point is 00:22:44 And then the ice cream man, Reggie Bandister, or Reggie Bandister shows up. With this guitar like a, like a, just like a gunslinger stuck on the side of his ice cream truck horse. And he pulls it off and he comes over and he just sits and he's like, let me get in on this and just start smoking it and the acoustic and they're s s s dumbass song. And he's wearing a bowler hat for no fucking reason. Why was that seen in, was it just to show that he uses a tuning fork? Yes. I think it was to introduce the tuning fork. And I think it was also like, oh, we got to get this shit up to 90 minutes. Oh, man. But I love it. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. Was just just just just just just just just just just just just thi. Was just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to show to to show to to show to to to to to to to to to to thi. thi. thi.aring because it's like they wrote that song and it's not a bad song.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Nah, it's dece. Yeah, they did it right there. On the porch. I just love it because it's like, there's no like anything could have established. He could just been like, oh shit I have a tunic fork and this is what it does, maybe winning Katie over to Fantassum. Well, I think I'm just looking at my notes again, and I was thinking about how they took Mike to the antique store, where Sally is? And it's like, oh, because Sally's hot. Yeah. But then he's like, okay, we got to go and she's like, okay.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Why is she so useless? Everyone in this movie is like kind of useless. Yeah. Sally and Susie get got by the tall man, okay. I don't know. So they could have more car chases, I guess. There were a lot of car chases in this. You got that kuda. Oh, I don't like it.
Starting point is 00:24:22 And like one were in the ice cream truck too, because I being like maybe you could turn off three blind mice you know. Well that that's when Tommy is chasing them in the hearse. Oh right. Dwarf Tommy and then they put Dwarf Tommy in the back of the ice cream. Well they're like oh he probably still weighs 200 pounds but they're carrying him like throw a pillow. Like at least look like the they. they. I I I I they. they. I I they. I they they they they's. they's. I they's. I they's. I they's. I they's. I they's. I they's. I they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're thi. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. I I they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. I to. I to. I to. to. toge. to. toge. to. toge. I toe. to. I toe. they're they're they're they're least look like you're trying guys. This is another one of those movies where I'm like, oh I could act. I can be an actor. Oh for sure. There's like four legit actors in this movie and everybody else is just like. Who are the four? Mike? Is Mike in anything else? Yeah, he's in a lot of the phantasem movies? Reggie Bannister who's in every one of the Fantasm movies, and in other stuff. Bless his heart.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Angus Grimm had been acting since like the 40s. He gets no lines, so it's hard to say. Yeah, it's hard to say whether he's acting or not. But his lower jaw and eyebrow do a lot of the heavy lifting for him. He is true, it's true. Oh, and Jody an actor? He had an agent, that's how he got the movie. I just feel sorry for Jody that like whatever else he was doing couldn't have worked out. Oh, because he's not made to act. I'm looking him up. Carry on.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Oh, let's talk about the tall man walking by the ice cream truck. Okay. So Mike's on the street hanging out in the town, as you do, and Reggie's loading the ice cream truck as he always does, because he's in charge of that ice truck. It's his career. It is his life. So he's got the door open as the tall man comes walking down the street in slow motion. And as the dry ice fumes hit him as he's walking by, he stops and has this like ecstasy like movement where he's just kind of like blown away by this and just stands there and absorbs it in his hands kind of raised and he's like, mor, catches himself and then goes back to walking. And in the commentary there, one of them was like,
Starting point is 00:26:19 so what is he doing there, Don? He's like, you know, he just doesn't have a reason for why he had him to do that. No, he's just there. Oh, boy. Yeah, so, and Angerskrim was like, yeah, I wasn't sure if I was enjoying it or if it brought me pain, but you know, I just kind of acted through it and it was pretty cool. I think, but it's just No, it's very, yeah, I agree. I thought it was a good scene. Angus Crom, like, as that character is just so creepy. He just nailed creepiness for me, like, and I think because he has, like it's sort of the, the shape from Halloween thing, like the fewer lines that something has, maybe the scarier they are for me. Until they go into Freddie Land. Well, yeah. Sorry, I'm still th th th th th th th th, I I I I'm th. I'm still th. I'm still, I'm still, I'm still, I'm still, I'm still, I'm still th. th. th. thi, I'm still trying to figure out what Jody is in.
Starting point is 00:27:06 No. Fantasm. Fantasm 3, Lord of the Dead, phantasm 4, oblivion. And then phantaism ravager? Question mark, question mark, question mark? It's supposed to have come out like two years ago, but they're still waiting. I didn't realize Jody was in that's that's that's that's's not in the second one. No, and neither is Mike. Mike is played by somebody else in the second one. But he comes back for... He comes back in
Starting point is 00:27:28 the later movies, yes. He is extraordinarily weird looking now. Yeah. It's very unfortunate. It's like his whole head just got smushed down into the lower half of it. Maybe the tall man did it. I was gonna say he started trying to go into a door, just with the face. Oh, it's smaller. Oh, the other things I love about this movie. Uh, one of the things I love about this movie. So let's just skip to the end and then I can talk about the other official. Yeah, let's let's spoil the end. Oh, we're gonna talk about th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. thi. thin' today. thi. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the tod tha tha tod tod tod tod tod th. th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. tod. tod. tod. today. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. today. other ridiculous. Let's spoil the end. Oh, we're going to spoil it. B.T. Debs.
Starting point is 00:28:06 We don't even talk about that anymore. So the ending of this movie, it's revealed that Mike was just having a bad dream. Yeah. This whole movie has been a bad dream. You know what? Yeah, I don't know. who plays acoustic guitar. Like, imagine how sad that is. I think of all the ice cream. That's true. Trade-off, would take.
Starting point is 00:28:28 And you can tell we're out of the dream because Reggie Bannister is finally wearing a flannel jeans. Yeah, he's not wearing the ice cream manse anymore. So this is why to me, like, oh, all the ridiculous, their things like, to the girls not having any kind of like personality whatsoever like they were just like dream placeholders for people like one of my favorite things about this movie is it like most of the time they drive to the funeral home but there's multiple times they just walk to it oh yeah so it's just like down the street so like I love the fact like the distances aren't the same throughout the film right and the of the mausoleum itself, whether just like seemingly winding through this building forever.
Starting point is 00:29:06 You know, it just like, it has that nightmare logic that I really enjoy of like, of Cypira and maybe even something like the kill list that just works with its own like sort of like weird dream logic. Sure, that's, well, that's not the end. Oh, also you could never have a whole that was a thousand feet deep in that narrow. Oh, the mind. There's literally no piece of equipment that could do that. It just doesn't exist.
Starting point is 00:29:29 So that's a little bit of dream logic for you too. It just cannot be. It defies a lot of physics. So the way they kill the tall man in the dream part of the movie, because he does show back up later is, um, there's, all of a sudden there's a mine in town that they run to and... Jody's gonna camouflage it. He just like puts a branch over the sign. Also like, I bet Tallman knew it was there, Tallman knew.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Yeah, yeah, he seems to be a member of the community. I wanna see him at like, like, like Quanis Club meetings and stuff. They're talking about like the new mini mart they're building and he's like, I will not have this. The meeting's about to begin, sir. Could I get you a refreshment? No, no you may not. So yeah, they're running past a mine chef. It's just like, it's not a cave entrance. It's just a hole. It just, it just, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like, it's like, it's just, it's like, it's like, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it, it the the new. It the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, like, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like a mine chef. It's just like, it's not a cave entrance, it's just a hole.
Starting point is 00:30:28 It just, it cannot be. And he just falls in it, like a dumb, dumb. Yeah. And he like grabs it in Mike's foot, but isn't really falling and Mike isn't really moving despite the fact that Tall man probably weighs like 225 pounds. And Mike is a child. And he's not really holding on anything. So dreams.
Starting point is 00:30:49 And then some styrofoam rocks fall down and bury him. And then Jody does the rocky pose. What? And that's what he wakes up and finds out that Jodi's actually dead. Yeah. Which is sad. Yeah. The rocky pose. There's no way to go out. Or is it? It's a triumphant end of life. I guess so. So that's not the end because Reggie's like let's just get in the car and drive? Let's go road it. Yeah, road dogs. Let's do this.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Sure, I guess you can take time off work. It's probably the winter now. I don't know. So they are by the fire in a flannel. Yeah, it's very romantic. And then in Christa guitar. So he tells Mike to go upstairs and get his stuff together for this road trip. Mike goes upstairs and starts putting his stuff into a bag. Uh-huh. Opens the closet door, closes the closet door. We see the mirror on the back of the door that the tall man is hiding in the corner. And he says, boy! And then the mirror is punched out by demon hands and Mike has pulled into it. Yeah. It's a cool end. Yeah. It's a good end. It's pretty much of it saved the movie for me. Okay. Yeah. Everybody dies.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Except I guess they don't because many more phantasms. What is a phantasm in this movie? The whole thing. Well, um... Fantasm. It's just a cool word, right? It is a cool word. And it's a, as you'd like to quote from the movie trailer, Fantasm. Fantasm. It sounds awesome when said in that voice. Yeah, it's Deese. I just... Plus look at this weird poster that has nothing to do
Starting point is 00:32:33 with anything else in the movie. That isn't even a person that was in the movie. No, uh-uh. You guys can't see it, but we're looking at a poster of a woman with her hands over her face and her titties all mush together and she's got eyes on her hands like where her eyes should be. It actually doesn't make sense. It says if this one doesn't scare you, you're already dead. Am I dead? Am I dead? This movie didn't scare you? Am I? A small dwarf now? Yes, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Yeah. Somebody should tell my work so I don't have to go in anymore. All right. Do you want to move on to the ratings phase? Oh, shit. Yeah. Somebody should tell my work so I don't have to go in anymore. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Do you want to move on to the ratings phase? Ratings phase about to begin, boy? Boy. I think I would say that I hated the first 45 minutes of this and enjoyed the second 45 minutes. Okay. It just is there's a lot of build to not much. This isn't a movie where much happens except car chases.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Right. And the beginning is just very, although I really did like the scene where he picks up the casket by himself. Yeah. Which I think you see twice for some reason. So nice see it twice. And if you're paying close attention, you can see the rope that's on one side of the casket for him to lift it. No, I did not see that. But I did not see the rope that the rope. But I the rope. But I the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope. the rope the rope the rope the rope the rope the rope the rope the rope th. Which the finger turns into the yarn monster. Yeah why? Does it do that? Dream logic? Okay. And they're like well wait. Jody's like yeah we're gonna take this to the sheriff and then they don't take the yarn monster to see the sheriff. No they're they're tak- the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the thin thr- thean the the the the the the the the the the thr- thr- thr- thr- the the the the the the the the the the the the th thin th thin thin thin thin thin thin the the thin thin the thin the the the thr-n too too too too too too too too too too tooan. tooan. toooan. toean. their the the the the thr-mononononononononon they, they, they, they, they, garbage, supposedly. They should just put it back in that box. Oh, there's that great scene where they're fighting with it, where they're just fighting with the jean jacket. Yeah. That makes me so happy.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I like that, that seems like, Mike's going down the stairs like running into the wall with the jean jacket I feel like it's hard for me to give this movie a good rating because I only liked half of it. Yeah. So, and I, ah, jeez, this is why our rating system is so fucked. I can't give it a lower score than thinner. So I'm going to give it the same. You can give it a th? I like can't tell if he's in on the joke or not? Do you know what I mean? Do you know what I'm saying? What are you judging it against to be good?
Starting point is 00:35:20 Hmm? Like is it, is it Ingmar Bergman good? No. But is it for me wholly enjoyable and like I've watched it 25 times in my life? Yeah. Definitely. And that's why that's where our reading system is like Tuesday I watched this movie. I'm in a shitty mood. I know. I think I watched the first half in a shitty mood and had to turn it off because I was like I'm not going to do this movie justice.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Well, that was kind of you. Yeah, I didn't want you to get too upset. No, no. When I came in was like, fuck this movie, fuck their dialogue, fuck these actors. We could give it what that rating is for you. That's why it, it's our our our our our our our reading, it, it, it, it, and our, and our, and our, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, I, I, I, I, th. I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. Oh. I don't know. I can't decide if I liked it or not. I would watch it again, but I would want to watch it with like a group of people to like laugh at it. Yeah. Not just by myself in my house being like, what am I doing with my life?
Starting point is 00:36:15 Like, I should do something more good, more good in the world. I should be making yarn monsters. I should be acting because I'm tha tha tha thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thea thi thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I would thi. I would want thi. I would want to watch thathing thathing thathing. I would want thathing. I would want thathing. I would want thathing. I to watch th. I thathing thathing thathing thathing thathing thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the an thea. I'm theananann' theanann' to thean. I'm to thea. I'm to to to to to to to think I might be. Yeah. No, I don't like anyone to look at me. You could put the hood on and you'd be one of the dwarfs. Yeah I mean I imagine like midnight showings of this movie with a bunch of friends. It'd be super fun. Great time. Okay then I'm gonna give it a seven. But I'm also gonna give it a yarn monster. Yeah, all right. Yarn Monster was made by Don Coscarrella's mother, and it shows. Adorable. Yeah, he was really proud of it.
Starting point is 00:36:47 He's like, my mom made that. Imagine being like, oh, Trish, what are you making? She's like a yarn monster for Dommy's movie. Oh, Dommy's making a movie. It's been making it for a year. He's got Angus Scrim in it. Oh, you mean that's all, man. I don't know where we're going with this bit. It's, um, it's Dom Coscarelli's mother.
Starting point is 00:37:15 That's the bit we're doing right now. It's a goodie. And her friend. She's the new Stephen Kang. No, no she, no one can be Stephen King. Things I love about this movie. I love the Tommy. I think he's a great character. He's a great bad guy. The Virgin the DVD that I have, Angus Scrim introduces the film. And he's like, so Don contacted me and told me I'd be playing an alien, but nothing else. So I was wondering if maybe I would be, I don't know, Asian or from Europe. What? He just meant like a continental alien, someone who came to this country.
Starting point is 00:37:48 That's amazing. So he was like, well, maybe I'll have to learn a dialect. And then I'm actually an alien. And then I'm actually an alien from space. He took it like, just like, oh yeah, this would be fun. I would be an alien. Also I don't th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I thi thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, thi. I'm, I'm thi. I'm like, I. Also, Angus Scorb, how did you think you were going to pull off Asian? I don't know. Christopher Lee did it. Oh, I know. And it's bad. It's bad. Oh, fucking Mickey Rooney? No, bad. Never saw it. Never knew it. It didn't happen. Otherwise, great movie. Otherwise great movie. And then racist as Mickey Rooney shows up.
Starting point is 00:38:26 So I love the tall man. I love the flying ball. I think the flying ball is terrifying and great. And apparently, like, it came up in Coscarelli's nightmare. And that's why he included in the film. I love the relationship between Jody and Mike. I like that old brother thrown thin is thin is thin is thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi the the thi thi the thi the the thi thi the the the the is the the the the the theate. I the relationship the the. I'm the. I the relationship. I love. I love the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the relationship. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. real nice. It'll get me. It's not a father and son, but it's close. He needs to do more disciplining though. But I guess that's part of the dream. That's why he never gets in trouble for anything that he does. I love the weirdness of the fortune teller scene. Yeah, I forgot about that. It just
Starting point is 00:38:54 doesn't make any sense. And were they're good guys't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're almost neutral. They're almost like switch-messengers, yeah. I love the feel of the movie. I think it has a great like, it's set you off kilter. Like, you're not, like you're kind of reeling the entire time you're watching the movie. And whether that's good or bad, I guess is where you're, I was gonna gonna gonna gonna gonna. I was gonna. I was gonna say 10, you were but you're not now? I think I'm gonna say nine and a half. What changed? I don't, um, because...
Starting point is 00:39:28 Because Jody won't button that shirt. Because Jody does that thinking face? Because Jody does the Rocky Post. Jody is not good. I'm sorry, we have to be honest about it. Jody is straight bad. When he has to deliver a line, it looks like it hurts him. I feel like he's fine for phantasm though. You're phantasm good.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Oh man, it's like being a Pittsburgh 10. I'm gonna say 9.5 because I feel like I throw tens around a little bit too liberally. You are making it rain 10. But yeah, this is, I don't know. I love this movie. But I thi, but I th, I th, I th, I th, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I th I but I fully expected to come in here and you to hate it because it's like it's it's dream logic which you don't like no it's poor acting which are not a big fan of unless it's totally ridiculous unless Joe Montania being totally over the top he wasn't bad he's a competent actor
Starting point is 00:40:15 not in that movie my mama she's a meatball like it's just so bad he's a real Italian person. I'm real Italian-American. He's fat Tony. Why are we still talking about thinner? We need to stop. But yeah, so I was like, I'd prep myself and I was like, yeah, let's do this. That's fine. You know, different strokes are different folks. I see, I prepped myself.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I didn't want to upset you. You're not going to upset to upset to not disappoint. I didn't want to upset you. You're not going to upset. You're not going to upset. There have been some where you got upset. All right, return of the living dead. I was bummed. You got upset. I wasn't upset. I was just pumped. That's what upset. That's what upset means? I want everyone to love it. It's so stupid. You know what everyone will love? What? Crypto curiam? What? What? What? Parts of? Par. A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? A? I? I? I? I? I? I? So yeah, we're going to do Trick Our Trety because let's watch a fucking Halloween. I'm ready for Halloween. I'm ready for Halloween.
Starting point is 00:43:21 It's January and I love it. Like what else is there to look forward to between now and Halloween? I mean, I guess Savini watched 2K16. Yeah. I'm gonna take more days off so I can see him. He's always apparently there during the day at the pool. And I don't get to see him. I don't think he's gonna be at the pool there right now. No, no, no, at the pool. Sorry, I was stuck in dream logic and I just didn't remember.
Starting point is 00:43:46 My cousin who's a teacher and is thus off all summer says that he's at the there during the day a lot. What? Yeah. So we're just going to take a day off or two or three. I mean, I don't really need this. It's available to rent all over the internet. So just like, just do it. Like, I've had to rent it. You have to rent it.
Starting point is 00:44:08 You know what I mean? Like, this podcast is free. And like, some things just aren't free. Wow. Yeah. Just dropping truth bombs to think about. So while you're on the internet, looking for Trick or Treat. Trick our Treat. Because it's not to be confused with the 1980s movie, Trick or Treat,
Starting point is 00:44:29 starring Skippy from Family Ties and Ozzy and... So you think we should be a trick or treat? It's not good, I can't do it. You have to not unclunch your teeth.
