Starting point is 00:00:00 It's a John Carpenter score. Oh, they're all the same. Oh, that's so bad. I'm just kidding, mostly. I'm so excited to order his new LP. And I'm going to go see him in July. John Carpenter. John Carpenter.
Starting point is 00:00:37 What are you talking about? And what are you words saying? Hi, I'm Alan. This is where willfam. What are you words saying? John Carpenter is currently touring on his new LP, Lost Thames 2, poster for Lost Themes over there. And I'm gonna go see him in July in Philadelphia. What do you think is on John Carpenter's rider? One hundred and seventy-three cigarettes.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Yeah, cigarettes are so cool though. A nap. He's an older gentleman. He's an older gentleman. I don't know, probably some cool books or something. It's a pretty cool guy. You think he wants to read? I think you'd want to eat like pretzels. Well, actually he's a big gamer.
Starting point is 00:01:16 So there might have to be like a gaming system there for him. That's cool. Yeah, and probably probably, probably, and probably, probably, and probably, probably, and probably, probably, and probably, and probably, probably. And probably. pretzel sticks because let's be real if you have an opportunity to ask for free food you're asking for pretzels I would get a tattoo that says this machine crushes pretzels the fucking love pretzels what's your favorite pretzel shape I'm a trad guy I like a trade like a trade like a monk and prayer yeah yeah that's a that's a they're like I do like I do like do you know like the to say no to any of them. No, me either. No, the big thick sourdose. Oh, god damn, those are the best. You know what I like are the snaps that are like a little grids? They are good.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah. What is the one pretzel company that has the dark pretzel, which are like the burnt ones? Oh, doesn't matter. It's the big pretzel man, big pretzler. Sniders? Yeah, I think so. I think it's Sniders, yeah. See, I'm a Snider's gold kind of person, so.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Ah, I'm a Sniders, I'm starving. Let's move on. We're here this week to talk about our first John Carpenter movie. How have we gone? 79 flipping episodes without talking. Well, I talked a lot about John Carpenter movies, but not about... You've talked extensively. A specific one. Sure.
Starting point is 00:02:38 the Prince of D. Mayhem. Thank you. Thank you. She's been real awesome to us. No, super awesome, great movie. Saying kind things about us and suggesting awesome movies. Okay, let's not talk about whether or not it's awesome until the end. I'm going to have a real hard time with that. All right. You're best.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Let me describe to say my note. My note, which says Donald Pleasance, I don't know. And also the Wikipedia plot summary because I have no fucking idea what happened in this movie. Oh yeah. I got it on lock. Yeah. I did something with this movie that I called Deja Viewing, which is where like 15 minutes in I was like, I've seen this before. I thought I hadn't seen this.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Okay. It's seen it before and just wiped it. Just like wiped it. That's beautiful so you could experience it again for the very first time. Yeah, I did. That's a wonderful thing to do for yourself. Mm-hmm. So in the John Carpenter canon, in the o'fender, in the o'n, in, in, in, in, in, the, the, the, thine, the, thine, thine, thine, the, thine, the, thi, the, thi, thi, the, thi, the, thi, the, the, thi, thi, thi, just, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, th. Oh, just. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th.... Oh, th...... Oh, th.. It. It. It. It. It. It's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the thi. It's, like, like, thi. It's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, second, maybe third tier, not a second tier, John Carpenter movie.
Starting point is 00:03:46 This isn't like the thing, this isn't Big Trouble in Little China, this isn't escape from New York. It's not Halloween. It's not, oh he did that one too? It's not like, it's not like, you know, the classics. It was really not well the classics, you, you, you, you, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. It's, the, th. It's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's not, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the thing, the thing, the thing, the thing, the thing, th. This. It. It. It. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's not, th. It's not, th. It's not, thi. It's not, thi. It's not, thi. It's not, thi. It's not, thi. It's not, thi. It's not, th. It's not, th. It You know, the thing about having the actors from Big Trouble in Little China is that I just wished I was watching Big Trouble and Little China. Victor Wong. Victor Wong.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah. Foggin is in this piece. Dennis Dunn is basically the same character in both movies. I'm going to go ahead and say it. Dennis Dunn doesn't have much range. No, I'm going there's more but there's just that. No, I don't even think he has a picture on IMDB. I'll check it out but I don't think he does. There's that that delivery that he has that is very like in big trouble you're like, oh man that's like camp delivery like you know Kurt Russell is basically doing John Wayne in that movie and like Dennis Dunn is a big the same on on on on on on on th on th on th on th on heant on hea hea he same he same same he same he same he same he same he same same he same he same he same he same he same heat is doing heat is doing heat is doing heat is doing heat is doing heat is doing is doing the same same same same same same same same heat is the same th. He's the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is doing is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He. He is th. He is a very very very very very very very very very very very very very t. He's t. He's t. He's. He's t. He's today. He's th. He's the th. He's the th. He's th. He's th. He's is th. He's theme. And then in this movie he has the exact same
Starting point is 00:04:45 delivery. He does not have a picture on IM TV. Yeah. He should though he's a big couple of fine little China man. Come on he's Wang. Shit Wang. He has been in at least two other movies. And he's been in 26 films and all. Yeah, it's doing better than I am. It's true. I've been in zero films. For good reason. Speaking of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of people of that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. He's the are in other movies that we enjoy, did you notice that the cop from Neon Maniacs is in this movie? No, that is not a thing I could possibly have noticed. Calder, the guy who stabs himself in the trot is the cop in the maniax. He's the only character in this movie I like.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And then he becomes the creepiest thine thine. Well I think he's just having like this fight with himself of being a religious person and also knowing that he's been taken over by Satan and just like can't, you know? Let's get into this. I mean fine. Here's the thing I'm gonna read these notes. They don't make any goddame sense. Quick summation of this film and then thiii. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho- tho- tho- tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. So basically the final priest in this long order called the Brotherhood of Sleep, which is an awesome name. It has, that's something I can get down with. Yeah, has passed away, very love crafty and name. And also sleeping is so good.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Yeah, well who wasn't, doesn't want to join a gang that just wants to sleep. There's a food delivery service in Pittsburgh called naping. And I'm just like, oh, diapers. Dipers bring you apples. It's bad. So the final member of this order has passed away. And his secret is best on to Donald Pleasant. Is that what happens?
Starting point is 00:06:17 Okay. He dies with this box, this key on his chest. Oh, yeah. And the none none none thuuuuuuuuine thu n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n thu. thu. thu. thu. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. D. D. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Di. It's not a puzzle box. It's not a mean fuck box. It's not what she did. Probably. Did you see the thing where Nick's Muse posted a video of her reading notes that she made during our Hellraiser? Oh, how did I miss that? Yeah, it's hilarious. I did see her. Lovely to see her. Hey Nix. Hi. And so, um, so, that. that. that. to that. to to to to that. that. that. to that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's not th. It's not th. It's not the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's th. It's the th. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not the th. It's not th. It's not me. It's not mean mean. It's not mean mean mean. It's not mean. It's not mean. It's not mean. It's not mean. It's not mean. It's not the Day a few weeks ago. Oh, nice. Lovely to see her. Hey, Nix. Hi. And so, yeah, it comes to Donald Pleasance who's playing a character named Father Lumis.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Is he? Yeah, he was Dr. Lumison. He's just priest on IDB. And I feel like he was in the first half of this movie, and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th. for this movie and then I forgot about him. And he searches out Victor Wong is Egg Shen from Big Trumb and Little China and he is a Dr. Byrack. He is a theoretical physicist professor. With a little bit of a spiritual bent to what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Like he's looking for God in the quantum basically is kind of what comes across. And he's all about smashing a reality. What's a smashing reality all over the quantum, basically, is kind of what comes across. And he's all about smashing a reality. What's a smash your reality all over the place? Oh. So he brings this crack team of grad students and PhD students who are all in their late 50s. Are the worst. Grad students are the worst. Even when I was a grad student, I recognized that they were the worst. It's just this this cast of
Starting point is 00:07:48 like B and C actors that you recognize from so many other things. I see I didn't get that. I didn't recognize really any of them. Now the bald guys in this movie called Midnight Madness that I really love. And Simon from Simon and Simon? Yeah, I did recognize James and Parker. So hunky with that thick, thick mustache. And the only other person I recognized was from Big Trouble in Little Shine. It was Dennis Don. Yeah. So there's like a love story between gross sexist love story? It's just like they have the two actors have no chemistry. No, no no. It's like two bags of wet hair. Do you know what I mean? It's just like, and he is so wooden. It's like he never learned how to emote. And he just says, I just, I hate Brian. I hate him. I'm pretty sure James and Barker was riding on being handsome for a real
Starting point is 00:08:41 long time. Yeah, he's got a great mustache. Yeah, he's got a great mustache. Yeah, great abs he's gonna be showing off the whole the whole the whole the whole the whole the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th like like like like like like like th th th th th th. It's just like like th. It's just like, like, like, th. It's just like, th. It's just like, th. It's just like, he's just like, he's just, he's just, he's just, he's just, he's just, it's just like like, he's just like, he. It's just, he. It's just, he. It's just, he. It's just, he. It's just, th. It's th. It's just, th. It's th. It's just like, th. It's th. It's just like, th. It's just like th. It's just like th. It's just like, th. th. thi. thi. thi's just like, thi's just, and he's just, and he's just, and he's just, and he's just, and he's just, and he's just, th. It's just time. Yeah, he's got a great mustache, but- Yeah, great abs and he's gonna be showing off the whole time. It's super weird, he wears a lot of open shirts, no undershirt. And then in the last scene, you can see that he has an inverted nipple, which I thought was strange. Oh, shit. Yeah, I didn't notice that. He's lying down. I mean, I'm not body shaming. There's nothing wrong with that. He's very in shape, but you just see a lot of his chest.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Oh yeah, for sure. There's a scene where he brings his lover, coffee in bed, Catherine. He like is shoving it in her face. She's like, let me wake the fuck up. I would knock that out of his hand and fear. I have something I want to tell you. Don't because to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to the the the the the the the the the to be, the the the the the the the the the their, the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, hear I don't want to hear it. What is that really are those really lines are the movie? I have to be honest with you I need to make a confession right now I did not pay
Starting point is 00:09:31 attention to a word these people were saying I couldn't follow it I was just like what is everybody's talking about? I mean three pages into my notes I have the note thus thi th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to tel tel tel tel tel tel tel told tel tell tell tell tell to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. tel. tel. tel. tel. tel. I tel. I tel. I tel. I tell. I tell. I tell you tell you tell you tell you tell you tell you tell you tell me me tell tell tell tell you tell you tell tell you tell you notes, I have the note that says, this all seems very familiar, which means I didn't pay attention the first time either. I don't know. I don't know. So the grad students and Victor Wong and Donald Blesons and a few other researchers are brought into this church where Father Lumis reveals that the Brotherhood of Sleep has been guarding a giant canister of ectocooler for since the 1500s when it was brought over here by Spain. Why was nobody monitoring all those candles in that
Starting point is 00:10:16 basement? That's how I felt about the fire and housebound too. Why are there just all these unguarded open flames? Have you thought about a career with OSHA? You'd be really good at me. I am very anxious about Like, why are there just all these unguarded open flames? Have you thought about a career with OSHA? You'd be really good at me, safety checking. I am very anxious about safety and I'm very fearful, so. Because it looked fucking cool. It did look fucking cool, but it's not very practical, is it? Neither is Satan being a green liquid.
Starting point is 00:10:40 It's revealed that Satan is ecto cooler. Well, I have some questions. I don't go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that, that, that, to, that, to that, to that, that, thi. thi, thi, like, like, like, th Satan is ecto cooler. Well, I have some questions, like a lot of questions. I don't have answers, but I will try. Right. Go, shoot. No, no, no, let's go on. And I'll get to them as I get to them. So they do some research. They figure out that.
Starting point is 00:10:52 They figure out that. thooooe, they, th th th, th, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, to, to, to, too, too, too, their, they. to, to, to, they. to, to, the, the, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, to, the, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, to, to, to, to, to, to. to. to. to. ttttttoo, ttoo, ttoo, ttoo, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, to, to. too, to. too, the, the windows and everybody just looks them and goes, look at that. Nobody writes it down, nobody cares. They're like, at one point, they're like, what are we researching? And the other guy's like, I don't know, but there's all these test tube set up of pink liquid. Why? What's in them? I don't know. The woman's like, I carbon dated'm not sure, but I don't think so. I think you've broken me. Sorry. I can talk about their outfits if you want, because one woman is wearing grandamals. Like the blonde woman, why is she wearing dress like a toddler? She's awesome. She looks like she might be part-time keyboard player in Devo. She's got a good flavor. There's a there's a scene where Catherine is wearing this. Who's Catherine? I don't know anybody's the red-headed ladies with the awesome haircut. She looks like she could be in the New York
Starting point is 00:11:55 Dolls. It's a really good haircut. All right, fine. That will help me. The red-hitted lady. She's wearing this shirt that is tied off of the waist and has shoulder pads. Is that the flannel? It's, it's, it might be like a silky flannel. Okay. It's like a real weird look at giddyup. At some point she wears a flannel shirt with shoulder pads. The 80s. A lot lot lot th lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot lot th. of unflattering slacks in this movie too, the Asian woman. Yeah. I don't know who did that to her, but they should be fired. The one that Dennis Dunn says, do you know you could pass for Asian?
Starting point is 00:12:30 That was funny. I liked that. It was delivered so well. So weird. It's so many later he takes it back. Because she's try to break loose almost immediately. First the nerd gets it from Alice Cooper is employing a homelessman who is like a cultist of Satan You think so okay, so like Satan has employed these Homeless people to guard the thing there wasn't an interview process. Well, I'm asking I'm asking because it seems like Satan could get a better army, a more competent army.
Starting point is 00:13:05 So when Donald Pleasance is setting this all up, he says that as of a month ago, this weird vibe started coming out of this thing. And we keep seeing... What does that mean a weird vibe? Like an actual vibration or just him feeling this all the things? Like, he's feeling something from it. He and he and eggs shed go down into the basement and th and th and th and th go th go th and th go th go down and th and th go down th and th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi just like oh this feels weird he's like yeah this didn't feel this way a month ago and so I'm assuming in that area there are a lot of homeless hanging around sure so they were just kind of getting the vibes and picking up on it and became zombified through
Starting point is 00:13:36 that his little Satan's little zombie army. Homeless people are no no no no no no no no no I no, no. But why weren't regular people getting zombified? Why was it just the homoes? Because? See what I'm saying? Homeless people are scary. See? That's all. And Alice Cooper is the scariest of the ball.
Starting point is 00:13:53 While an Alice's song is the scariest the ball. their throwns, wa' thoooo's thoooo's thoo's thoof. thoof. I don't know. The nerd. The nerd, sure. Who had really nice clear glasses. I was into it was clear glass rooms. You've been trying to work those clear glasses. Did you end up ordering? No, I did. No, I haven't ordered any. No, I haven't ordered any.
Starting point is 00:14:10 I like those darker ones. Oh, thanks. Oh, I'm not sure. Darcy but she looks like her. I have Marcy Darcy. I refer to her only as Marcy Darsie. She goes down to the basement to check out ectoplas- or ecto cooler Satan and she sees that it from the canister drips are going up and then they're pulling on the ceiling and then they shoot in her mouth. She's the only person who's name I know besides Brian they keep saying, Susan? The radiologist with the glasses? That's the only other person I know. And apparently every dude wants to take her to the bones in.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But she's married, like super married. Says the guy who wears a bug suit man. Right, because clear glasses is like, how married? Super married. Grad students are t back to school at any age. I mean, yeah, there were certainly older people in my graduate program. For sure. Yeah, and kudos to them. And they were just trying to fack.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Fuck. Also when students in my graduate program would get really annoying about like being on their high horse about something I would literally just talk to the phone NASCAR. You a NASCAR. Well, it's. It?? it. It? it? it? the i? the i? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There's, the the there, there, there, the there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there. There. There. There. There, there. There. There. There, there. There. There, there, there. There, there. There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There? There, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the there were, there were, there were, there were, there were, there were, there were, there were, thereir high horse about something I would literally just talk to the phone NASCAR. You a NASCAR? Well, it's a great way, someone's like, ooh, I'm just like so pedantic. I'd be like, oh, would you see Jimmy Johnson one last weekend? And if you say it with a straight face, people don't know what to do. Okay. So, Satan has gotten basically out and is in people.
Starting point is 00:15:47 But why? There's all these portents. There's like the moon and the sun are lining up. There's all the ants that are in a television set for no reason. Oh yeah. There's all this weird stuff. Why are there worms? Yeah. There's this like real like trippy imagery. I really wrote one review that said like it's got like sort of a dolly-esque feel at points in it. I would agree with that. There's a great scene where a guy has been killed and just to sum it up like Satan's getting out people are everyone who sleeps in the house or sleeps in the church is having the same dream and it turns out that everyone who sleeps in that area has the exact same dream throwns thrown. to...... the the the same. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Starting point is 00:16:27 later. 1999 I think. Revealed now. Sorry. And it's this creepy image of like this video image of someone just like scanning across the front of the church and then somebody back lit and huge walking out of the church. There's this great scene where this homeless woman that you meet earlier kills this one guy the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th the th th th th th the th th th thi thi the thi thi thi the thi thi thi tho tho thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. th. th. th. the future the future the future the future the future the future the future the future the future th. the future th. the future th. th. th. the future the th. the the the the th. the the the the the the the thi. the thi. thi. thi. 19 thi. 19 thi. 19 thi. 19 thi. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th. 19 th.. There's this great scene where this homeless woman that you meet earlier kills this one guy who's trying to leave the building. She stabs him with half a scissor and stabs him over and over. Is this the bug suit guy?
Starting point is 00:16:53 Yeah, okay. After like, there's the one who keeps saying caca, it's caca. Shut up. Get inside you weener. Here's my... Go, go ahead. These people just like, are so whiny. Like, they go from like, be like, oh, I don't know why we're doing this to like, where are we doing this? In like, an hour.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Just, you were brought here, do your fucking job. Do you know what I mean? They're like, we have to get out of here, but why? Because it's creepy. Yeah, but they're theoretical physicists. They should be looking at it as an opportunity to try to explain something. They can't be, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:17:31 You know what I mean? They're like, they're shitty scientists. thate. Oh, I'm sorry. I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, they. they. they. they. tho. thu. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're, they're, they're, they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're th. they're theee. they're they're theeeat. they're they're they're they're. Apparently that's something he was doing in his live stage show at the time and he and John Carpenter were friends and John Carpenter is like, hey, man, you want to do that here? Want to do that here? And he was like, I'll do that here. Alas Cooper has zero lines. Yeah, he was super creepy and he looked like a fucking nerd. And like, he just had it all going on, but he was like a cool nerd.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And like, there's all these pictures of him hanging out with Vincent Price and or Colonel Sanders because he loves fried chicken. He's in Wayne's world or is he in two or is in one? He's in one. Okay, yes, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. And, thi. He's, thi. He's, thi. He's, thi. He's like, thi. He's like, thi. He's like, thi. He's, thi. He's in Waynes World or is he in two or is in one? He's in one. It's Millie Wauke. Why yes it is, Pete. That's Algonquin for the good land. Yeah, he was great. He seems like a okay guy, right?
Starting point is 00:18:34 You're making a face like I don't know something. And he, once he got clean, he became born again, with his religion for a while. He might not be anymore. It might be cool now. Sometimes people get in and get over it. He ran for governor or, was it governor or mayor and Arizona for? Oh God. It didn't get it. No one. No, no, sure, sure. If you've previously chopped your own head off on stage, people probably aren't going to elect you. It shows you have showmanship. Yeah, I would elect him. Oh, so that was the cool death of the nerds. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. the the the th. the the th. th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. the their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. tho. to. to. to. to. to. to. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. Oh, so that was the cool death of the nerd guy, and then we, the bug dude. So this guy's gonna like leave and he's saying, this is kaka, kaka, kaka. This guy's such a dick.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Cool blazer though. And Susan comes out to stare at him. Because she's in, once she gets changed, her MO is just staring at him. Yeah. And once she's staring at him, beetles appear around his feet and on his hands. And then the homeless lady comes up and starts stabbing the dude with the half-sizars. But why? Because sacrifices? Okay. And he appears later in this awesome sien where he says, I have a message for you.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Wyndham is the guy's name. And he said, I've got a message for you and you're not going to like it. Pray for death. And he's just cool as shit, man, it's a good line. And that, when he does that, he opens his jacket, a bunch of beetles fall out and then his head falls out and he crumbles into bugs. And they are not as scared as they should be. No, no, no, they're not. They've seen a lot of terrible things at that point too and they're just like,
Starting point is 00:20:10 bye. Ah, this is Brian screaming. Uh, and the red head of the heavy lifting in this movie. Which is to say, not much. I don't know. So there's all these like cool deaths that happen and there's not a lot of storyline going on here. It's just basically like... That's why I wasn't listening to what they were saying.
Starting point is 00:20:39 But they talk so much. The script for this movie has to be so fucking long. Like there are just scenes where Donald Pleasance and Victor Wong are just talking for like 15 minutes I was like, I gotta get a snack like I can't. Apparently when this is written by John Carpenter. As Martin Quartermass. Yeah which is our quarterbass. Yeah it's a reference to these British films from the 60s and the guy the guy who originally wrote Halloween 3 wrote those movies so like like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, th, like, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. I thi. thi. thi. I thi. thi. I thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi, like, like 60s, and the guy who originally wrote Halloween 3 wrote those movies. So, like, John Carpenter was a huge fan of him. But, like, that guy took his name off of Halloween 3, as we talked about then, because they did so many changes to his script without consulting him.
Starting point is 00:21:17 So, he was like, just take my name off and I don't want anything to do with it. So in a nod to that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy to to to the the to to tho. to the to to to thoom. to to thoom. th. th. to to. to th. to th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to. to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the to. th. the the the th. the the the. the the. the the the the the. the the the the the. the. the th. the. th. the. th. the. th. th. th. the. a nod to that guy, he names himself after the character from the quarter-mast stuff. Anyway, so he wrote this movie and he apparently was reading a lot of quantum physics at the time, but I don't think he was getting it. I don't think he was really understanding it. But most people don't. So it's not a failure on his part, but also most people wouldn't then try to make a movie about it. But I like, I like, most most most most most most most most most most the, the, the the people the the thi th. thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th it. But I like the like bringing that like spirituality and like the like sort of rudimentary Christianity into it and like all that weird stuff. I guess it just I never put the pieces together. I just kept being like what? What?
Starting point is 00:21:54 What? What? Basically saying that the evil exists on this quantum level that we can't even understand? Okay. The anti god that's. they, they, they they they they they they they they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they, they, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I'm, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I'm, to, th. I'm, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, th. And, The anti-god that's through the mirror. Is that Satan? Is that? Well, because at one point they say the devil and Satan and I was like, I thought they were the same person. I don't know. I, they're, the, apparently the devil that's in the jar is not, that's not the anti-god. That's Satan that's the, jar. And then there's something bigger than Satan that tries to come through the mirror later on in the film. When... So all these things, these cool deaths keep happening.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Oh, I'm sorry, is there a question? Yes. Yes. I have time for one more? Who was typing on that word processor when it just kept saying, I live, like this glow, this this, this, this, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, when, when, when, when, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, th. When, th. When, th. When, th. When, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. When, th. When, th. When, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th., I like this glow, this like, Oh, it was the Asian lady. Smug, gloating Satan. No, oh, who was she channeling? That's the Satan. That's the Satan, but that's not the Big Satan. Right, right. So Satan has little Satan's, or A little Satan's.
Starting point is 00:22:55 I don't think the Big Satan is Satan. I thi thin, and the the the the the the the the the the the the the same is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan is Satan, and the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's is Satan, that's is Satan. that's is Satan. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. Who's is. negative of God. The matter and anti-matter, God and anti-God. Stuffed and double stuffed? I enjoy them both. There was a very early package of double-stop to Oreos in this movie. And I was like, I had no idea they existed back then. Delicious. Yeah. Thinking a lot about snacks today.
Starting point is 00:23:21 It's all coming up to this ultimate scene where this woman has been completely possessed by the the the liquid.. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. the liquid. there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there. I's, the the the the. the the th. the the. th. there's th. the. the. the. the. the. there's there's thea. there's, there's, there's, this ultimate scene where this woman has been completely possessed by Satan through this really cool scene where like the liquids filling her and they did this reverse shot so it looks like it's spraying into her mouth and eyes when obviously it was shot originally where they're out of her mouth and eyes and they just reversed the film. The one in the Oshkosh overhaul things, or what did you call them? The granules. The granimals. Well, it's a good thing she's wearing a big shirt because later she needs to accommodate a Satan, I guess. Yeah, she's got that baby.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And then he comes out in all the blood. See, I didn't know where he went. He's inside of her. No, I mean, where did he go? he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th. th. th. th th. th th. th. th th. th. th th th th. th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the how there can be a physical Satan and then he's just her but what happens to her physical then being. Do you know what I'm saying? Well he was inside of her. He was like a, he's like a, he's a theoretical thing. But he's taking up space. He's physical. Well he had taken over her body. But he was he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. But he was th. But he was th. But he was th. But he was th. But he was was th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi was was was was was was was was was was was was was thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th. th th th. th. th th. th th. th. th. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. the. the. he's taking up space he's physical he had taken over her body but he was off the inner fucking wound yeah but then he just had to go and fill her up but where did her stuff go he pushed it out that's why she was all bloody all their stuff got pushed out fine I don't know I know just listen you wanted to talk about it I'm talking about so shouting quite a bit when when the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi th thi thi thi thi th th th th th th he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he thi he thi he thi theeeeeeeee he's thooooo he's he's he's he's he's he's he he he he he he he he he you wanted to talk about it, I'm talking about it. So...
Starting point is 00:24:45 Shouting quite a bit. When she first fully transformed, she picks up a mirror and she's like, hey Papa, father. She says father into the mirror and it lights up. But it's too small. So she finds the big mirror and then says, father! And it lights up, and then she sticks her hand through andthe mirror. And then pulls the big Satan Paul back through. And that's when Catherine dives into her and knocks her through the mirror, and then Father Lumas throws the axe against the mirror and breaks it. Couldn't have done it a second before Catherine jumped in, Papa.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And then she's trapped in there end of the movie. Oh, she let me touch her boobs. And so when he has that dream again, she's in the dream walking out of the church. At the end of the movie. And then he wakes up and she is all bloody laying in the bed next to him. And then he wakes up up and goes to touch the mirror and the house and right before he reaches the mirror, don't tu credit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Oy. So let's talk about how awesome this movie is. Ah, there are some things that are cool. Like, there are a lot of deaths, and they are all pretty good. Calder's death, I think, is the ultimate where he stabs himself on the throat, th. th. that him that him, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, tho, tho, tho, tho, the the the, tho, tho, so tho, so tho, so tho, so tho, so tho, so tho, so the, so tho, so tho, so tho, so thu, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so that, so that, so, so that, so that, that, tho, tho, tho, the tho, tho, to let's, to let's, to let's, to let's to let's to let's, to let's to let's to let's the to let's the the tho, soo, soo, soo, soo, soo, the throat with the piece of wood that he breaks on. But he doesn't die after that. He does. No, he's reanimated. Oh, all right, sure. All the dead come around.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Oh, right, they walk around. But he's like, he is so, there's still some human in him, which I really appreciated. Where he's like, laughing. He's like, laugh at it. When he's walking around singing Amazing Grace? Yeah that like was heartbreaking to me. It's real creepy and sad. And you see that sort of human thing too when Garanimals picks up them compact and sees what her face looks like and she's like oh my God you know. Yeah but that amazingly wants to talk to her Papa lie the other phone? Yeah I guess the point is that Satan or whatever the th. I th. I th. I the th. I the th. I th. I the th. I the th. I th. I th. I the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that I that I that I that I that I that I that's that's that I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. I th. I th. th. th. thi thi the. the the the the tote. the today tha tha tha thau. thau. tha. that's that's that's that's the. that's the point is that Satan or whatever takes is more powerful. Right. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:46 There's also a scene that I liked where I think it's Marcy Darcy and the Asian lady are just standing looking at Walter through a window in a door, but they're just standing there like the shining twins, which I really like. Where he tells them the Jewish daughter joke? I have a note here. It says is says is says is great, but I don't remember what it was. Forgive me. This is the Jewish daughter joke, where a Jewish daughter lands on a plane
Starting point is 00:27:10 and gets off the plane with a tall gentleman with a bone through his nose and walks up to her mother, and her mother goes, I said, rich doctor. I like that. No, that was really, really liked that. That th th th th th th th. That was maybe th. That was maybe th. That was maybe th. That was maybe the th. th. th. th. th th th. th th. th th th th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. I was maybe, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I was, thi. I was, thi. I was, th. I was, th. I was, th. I was, th. I was, th. I was th. I was th. I's, th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's thi. I. I's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. theeee. the. thee. thee. thi. thi. the joke, but I know that was fine. I really, really liked that. That was maybe my favorite part of the movie. And it's just like Donald Pleasance has largely disappeared from the movie at this point and I'm like, are you just off drinking? Like, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:27:36 He's just hiding behind the water or the big boiler? Where in the mirror, in the room's got a giant mirror and a boiler in it. Yeah, well, sometimes you want to look at yourself while your water is heating, I don't know why you would ever be in the boiler room. It's just, there's just so many, there's first of all, there's so many characters. There's like the jocke guy that we haven't even talked about who makes it to the end because they need him to do some like physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical physical, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to they. their. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. too, to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. the him. We've don't, I have no idea what his name is. I don't know what he does. But he lives longer than all these other characters that you might expect to have like made it. There's a scene where like Brian is hugging the red-haired woman to like comfort her and it looks like a junior high dance like they cannot stand to have their bodies near one another. You need to leave 12 inches for the holy spirit. Yeah. And there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's the the the the the their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thee. I theeeeeee. I thi theeeee. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi You need to leave 12 inches for the Holy Spirit. Yeah. And then there's a scene where he just jumps out the window for no reason.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Why does he do that? Like it's one of the homeless people are. Oh, he's seeing if he can escape without them coming after. Well, they're blocking both paths, Brian. But he didn't. He just went back and he went back. Starting point is 00:28:50 I just noticed that I have the note that that woman is pregnant with Satan juice. Ew. Ew. Oh, man. I have a note that says what if it was growing a kitten, which I guess means the green stuff. And then I have the question, Jesus was an alien? Which I don't know what I mean by that. It's revealed that Christ was an alien being that was human like that came down to warn
Starting point is 00:29:17 us about the Satan in the jar. I mean that's straight stupid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's fun. It's fun times. All right. I mean, at the, at the end of all this, this is a B horror movie, shlocky, like, almost just goofy, fun movie. Like, this isn't trying to be like, your smart movies. Starting point is 00:29:51 Are you sure because I felt like they were talking about it for days Like you sit through a theoretical physics class and then you sit through an argument between? Walter and the red-haired woman about a Shrodinger's cat and then you sit through like a conversation between Donald Pleasants and Victor Wong about you know what? I???? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I just felt like they kept talking about it and I was like the more you talk about it the less sense it makes. Yeah. And not even in the way that like theoretical physics doesn't make sense. I don't know. Yeah I don't I don't I mean we can move on to whatever we need to move on to. I to. I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. to the to to think. think. think think to to think the to the thea. theea. thea. don't, I mean, we can move on to whatever we need to move on to. I watch the movie for yourself to get an idea about this. But it's like, it's just like, for me, I'm gonna go right into the rating space. It's just so fun and goofy.
Starting point is 00:30:39 And we could keep talking about all the goofiness. Like, there there's there's there's there's there's there's there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, thi. thi. thi, like, thi, thi, thi, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th. I'm, too, to deaths in it and it's like if it's two o'clock in the morning and you know maybe you and your friends have been hanging out and you just want to watch something dumb and fun and just goofy but still like it's got some good kills and it's shot well and it's directed well and it's got good mustache in it. This movie is also part of, Town Carpenter says he has a trilogy of this apocalyptic film trilogy. And so the thing is the first movie in the trilogy. This is the second movie and in the mouth of madness is the third movie. What does that mean? They're not at all related, but they're all like his apocalyptic films. Just films about the Armageddon. And I was doing a little thol-a th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and thi.eooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo., and, thi, the Armageddon and I was doing a little online reading about this and our friend Orrin Gray wrote an article about this and
Starting point is 00:31:29 he kind of says that this film is like the most lovecraftian of all those movies. Well in the mouth of madness is the most lovecraftian but this one has like the most lovecraft and themes going on like blending science with the supernatural and in sort of the same way that Lovecraft had like a vague idea about science like a science right okay I'll write a movie or write a book short story I know all about that so yeah I don't know I would give this movie a solid I'm gonna give it a solid eight I would say definitely watch it if you it's 1987 it's in my wheelhouse. There's green glowing goop in it, which is like my shit.
Starting point is 00:32:11 There's, there's theoretical physics religion in it. Which you love. Yeah, I do. That's my jizzy jam. And this is. I just had a very visceral reaction to that phrase. I'm so sorry. That's, yeah, I mean, it's just fun for me.
Starting point is 00:32:29 So, sorry, go. You don't have to be sorry. You should be sorry about what you just said. That's what you should be sorry about. No, I, this movie, I, I think it says something that I've seen it before and I've seen something that I've seen it before and he didn't, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, I, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I'm, I, it, I, I'm, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it,, and he was like, oh, I've seen this movie before. And I was like, really when? And he was like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:50 But this seems very familiar to me. And then like 15 or 20 minutes, and I was like, wait, I've seen this movie before. It's not good. It's not good. Oh, no, I would thi thoe thoooo. tho. tho. thuuuuu. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's, I's, I's, I. I. I. I. I's, I's, I. I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. I'm, I would never argue that it's good. But it's not, you're saying that it's fun. Yeah, I find it really fun. It's fine that you, it's fun for you. But I don't feel that it was presented to me as being fun. There's no fun aspects. I mean, the deaths are fun, sure, but deaths are always fun. That's why we do this podcast because death is fun. And death is fun. and whatever. I just, I mean, Walter is the only comic relief and he's over the
Starting point is 00:33:27 top, like you mentioned, just like so the his delivery and the things that he's saying are just beyond absurd. Right. But nothing else is particularly like fun about this. This is by far my least favorite John Carpenter movie. Oh, by far. Oh, I've got some movies to show you that little... Like what? John Carpenter's vampires? I don't. I? I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I the the the the the the the to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the by far. Oh I've got some movies to show you that little... Like what? John Carpenter's Vampires? I don't see it. His remake of Village of the Damned. I've seen that Christi Alley. Guess what? And Christopher Vervee? And Phil... Is he? Okay. I think so. God rest his soul. Guess what? I liked that movie? I like Halloween. I just think
Starting point is 00:34:14 the thing like these are great movies. This is not a for sure. This is a bad movie. This is a mistake. I disagree I disagree. This is a bad. This is a bad. This is a bad. I didn't like it. It's fine. Don't tell me why I should have liked it. Yeah. I'm already getting defensive. I think this movie is in that, you know, we've talked about it a hundred times I have that sweet spot. It's 1987 Alan that's what your sweet spot is. Any movie that came out that year you're like, no no no it's 85 86 87. You can't just deem a movie good because it came out in a half decade period. I can't or can I? I mean you can but you'd be wrong. I wouldn't do any movie, but this movie is definitely it hits all the things that I want this movie to hit to hit to hit to hit to the th. th. th. th. tho. th. I'm the the the the, it hits all the things that I want this movie to hit. Which is nonsense? Yep, love it.
Starting point is 00:35:08 But Alan, why do we keep doing this to ourselves? Because this is the shit that I love. Like, beyond maniacs is nonsense and you really enjoyed that. But it's also like Street Fighter, which I like. It's also not entirely nonsense, like there's these bad guys and they're out to get you. Okay, fine, that makes sense. This is Satan in ectoprasm in the basement of a church with... I... Wait, so bad guys who live in the Bay Area under a bridge by the river who are allergic and will
Starting point is 00:35:36 die from water. No, no, they lived in the bridge. They came out of an ice cream truck under the bridge. I really liked that. Sure, it's fun. This is dumb. I think it's fun. I think it's fun.
Starting point is 00:35:51 I know it's fine. Yeah, that's great. Give me a number. It's hard because I like so many of his other movies too. Do you know what I mean? You got to go film film thi. If this th, th. th. th., I'd be like, well, at least you tried, Guy. But knowing that it's John Carpenter, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Four and a half. Oh wow, that's way higher than you were going to get in. I mean, I do like a lot of the deaths. I like the effects. I love, a sudden bug attack. Oh, yeah. I just think, what were you th? And also who dressed these people because there was... 1987 did! No but 1987 wasn't that bad. It wasn't that... It was. That's we can... That's fine. That's fine. I just... and I do, I like the dream sequence too and I like her appearing in the dreams
Starting point is 00:36:40 so to the end. That is the one thing that saves it for me and I like the character of the guy who's name, I don't know. Did we say that the dream was future people beaming back this transmission because they could only do it when you're asleep, they couldn't do it when you're awake, they can only be even into your subconscious. And they're saying bad shit's going down. This is actual time of this. They're showing you this thing walking out in real time from 1999. So was this supposed to be like a Y2K kind of thing? Oh, I don't think so. Well, it's like a millennial scare?
Starting point is 00:37:14 Is that why they were coming from 1999? Is it a prince thing? I think it's an R? I mean, there was like, switching over your millennium is always gonna have that apocalyptic feel to it, so. So it wasn't about computers and planes falling from the sky. No. Can we talk about Y2K for a second? I'd love to.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Why did they think planes would fall from the sky? So there was a thing with computer programming where they thought that when things went to zero-zero that they were going to revert back to 1900 and was going to fuck all this code up? But does that mean that the plane would just, why does that mean that the plane would drop? I don't know, it turned into a prop plane. It was like, we were never meant to do this, like, I mean, if we, it was like, God bless, why, 2, I don't th.. I was, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I, I, I, I, I. I, I, I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. turn, it, it, it or I don't know my parents filled their bath tub up because they thought the apocalypse was coming. No shit. I know of my friends' parents bought guns. They were like actually bought guns to I guess to protect their Campbell soup supply I don't know what they were going to do with those guns. My parents already had guns. Oh yeah I grew in a gun house. Oh, I just don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:26 There's just Satan that I like, and then there's Satan that I don't like the Satan. You know, like the Omen, that was a Satan I really liked. There's a Satan I could get behind. It was a Satan I understood. Well, this is your alien Satan thrown through a mirror. This isn't your typical run-of-the-mill Satan. It doesn't make any sense of why would alien Satan be like why? They briefly talk about it.
Starting point is 00:38:49 No, I don't know that they did. I mean maybe they did. I wasn't listening. Yeah, one of those long, Victor Wong, Donald Pleasance conversations was about it. I feel like those were you want to bring in when you want sense to be made. It's a Puma Man. I knew Ptumman was going to come up. I love it, though. At some point I would like to do one of my favorite Donald Plessenna, which is him, which is him, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is a him, which is a him, which is a thu, which is a thu, which is a thu, which is a thu, which is a, which is a, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is him, which is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Starting point is 00:39:25 Oh boy. Yeah, little brother. It's a Dario-Da-Doh movie. Bufungle, you Dario! I made a pasta fazul the other day. Oh yeah, it's real good. Fajul. Fazzz.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Fazz. Faj. Fajn't. Faj. It'll bring up recipes for it. Like Z-O-O-L. God damn it, America. You know what else you could type in in the internet, Katie? Basically anything you want. Oh, Crypto Curium.com! You could do that, and then you could sign up for their parcel of terror,
Starting point is 00:39:58 which is a monthly subscription box that you would get in the mail for just $35 a month, and in it is all kinds of crazy, handmade stuff. Yeah, really beautiful stuff. I wish that we could like talk about some examples of things that are in there. Katie, what? You know they call me the Wishmaster, 666, hotmail, right? I, that movie makes me want to kill myself. Did you know that? We're going to do that? a guy in high school whose email address was a wishmaster 666 at hotmail.com.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Don't take the headphones off. Don't take the headphones. Don't leave. Don't leave. Don't leave. Katie. Alan, come back. Don't turn the light on. What are we doing here? Oh it hurts my arm. Oh right. I thought that was part of your being a ghost. I'm a ghost. All right, let's look at this inside this cryptocuri. The ghost took off his glasses and you're real blurry now. Oh, yeah, I was doing that the whole time. Okay. Here, I'll read you find things. Wishmaster 666. You're out thi. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. the. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. tho. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. You know, dog, Wishmaster 666 if you're out there.
Starting point is 00:41:05 I know, I think he's a real estate agent now. I looked him up once. Wishmaster Realty. Katie, did you see what's on the inside of this? A pumpkin! It's a red stamp. If it's red, you found one of the five bloody Jack stamps and have won a special full-color Frankenstein's Monster Magnet variant. Oh, Katie.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Oh, shit, that looks cool as hell. That looks cool as hell. I know this is an audio medium, but it looks cool as hell. Can you hear me kissing it? Ah, Jason, you fucking out did yourself, dog. You made me say it regularly, though, to be fair. All right, this month's parcel of tear includes Bigfoot wall plaque. The first in our series of cryptology-themed wall-placks
Starting point is 00:41:53 depicts the perhaps the most famous crypted, Bigfoot. Cast and Solid Resin and individually hand-painted in a foe, tho-fown' I'm walking through your woods. I live with a person who loves cryptozoology because he's a fucking maniac. And we literally almost got divorce over Bigfoot, so he'll like this. Like... Like... In what world? He truly believes?
Starting point is 00:42:22 What's next? Stay puffed, Marshmelleman sticker, a high quality pearl finish, die cut sticker of, oh my god, you're holding it next to your, next to your, Ghostbusters tattoo. Jasoner calls it the greatest movie of all time. Ah. Ghostbusters. And then he says, don't dispute me. You're sassy, motherfucker. This is like what he wouldn't argue with me about the thing being the best monster in
Starting point is 00:42:48 a monster movie. Just won't touch it. Yeah, it wasn't having it. I was talking about, I'm the alien podcast. I like that of just being like, I refuse to argue this because I'm so sure I'm right. So like seriously don't get online and tell me about why I should have liked it. Like just don't, just don't. All right.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Stay Fuff, Marshmillman, sticker is awesome, and it's going to block out more of the screen. Yeah, at some point we're going to have to do something so that we can still hit the record button. Well, we're going to won. Yeah, it's beautiful. The special full color Frankets signs, uh, Monster, I think the other ones were black and white finish. Oh, this one's gorgeous. Yeah, really is. It's the first in the new series of classic era monster magnets inspired by the
Starting point is 00:43:36 universal films, which are awesome. Yeah. Kthulu, a medullu culled c-painted comes ready to wear or hang on a black twine cord. I'm going to open this fucker up so we can get a good look at it. Love the sound of that plastic opening. Oh, that's cool. What if I wear that to like my work? Oh, I. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:05 People who are definitely going to trust me to invest their money. Scared money don't make no money. What else we got? Blood test print, one of the most frightening scenes from the horror classic, the thing. So sweet. Which Jason writes here is the best monster. He wrote it right here. No, he didn't. It's directed by John Carpenter.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Printed a high quality. Ah, it's apropos. It's gorgeous. It's gorgeous. It's gorgeous, Nick. It's gorgeous, Nick. It's gorgeous, Nick. And finally, Jackalanton Easter Egg. Yeah. This is created by Cryptoakurium guest artist Nick Gucker. Oh. See more of Nick's gross art work at Nick. finally, jackalant an Easter egg. For those of you like me who need a rescue dose of Halloween during the offseason includes one of three gummy Mexican sugar skulls and two random trick-or-treat goodies. What's thrown. What's the random trick-or-treat goodies. What's it? What's the gait? What's it? What's it? What's it? What? the t half. Sure. I'm gonna have to bite it in half though, is that okay? It's fine. Can you open it for me? As long as I get the jacket lantern. Oh I got it.
Starting point is 00:45:06 All right you're gonna get the eyes and I'll take the teeth. I wish that was the first time he said that to me. It's so gubby. I've got crunches in it. Oh You know what I love? Jason McKitrich. Yeah. You know what else? Orange flavoring. I also Jason McItrick. It's not the best fake. What's your favorite foe flavor? Oh. Is banana?
