Hello and welcome to another episode of Who Are These Podcasts.
I'm Kevin.
Not a carol.
And we listen to podcasts so you don't have to.
We want to remind our listeners you can visit us on WhoAreThese.com and on our Facebook page.
We're always looking for new podcast suggestions, so leave us a comment, a suggestion, or post
the death threat.
On today's show, we review in a show called Legacy Music Hour.
As always, we have listened to the episode separately.
We have not discussed it with each other beforehand.
So without a further ado, let's find out once and for all, who are these podcasts?
It's showtime. W-A-T-P-W-A-T-P!
Oh my god, do you think people get sick of that?
I do.
You're just doing it.
Oh, I'm back again, I like it again.
Alright, okay, good.
So as you mentioned in the intro there,
we reviewed a show called The Legacy Music Hour
Video Game Podcast. So this was not what we teased last week, We reviewed a show called the Legacy Music Hour video game podcast.
So this was not what we teased last week, and I'm going to take ownership of this, I fucked up.
So I picked a podcast that I thought sounded hilarious, and we played an extended introduction of that show.
But in case you didn't hear that, or you need a reminder, Kevin, just play that track, The Retro VGM Revival Hour Introduction.
Hello and welcome to The Retro VGM Revival Hour.
My name is Edgar Velasco and I'm the host of this show.
This is a video game music show where I will talk
and share various video game music tracks
with the 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, and current
video game music errors.
From the obscure to the well-known,
while respecting and honoring the music that many gamers have grown up on and for those
who have just discovered the wonderful world of video game music.
So I was listening to the beginning of this and I was excited because it's about
video game music which is a ridiculous topic and the guy can barely speak
English so this is going to be great and if you remember last week Kevin I
played I don't know it was probably over a minute
long clip of that introduction to the show.
Yeah, yeah, I remember it.
Which I was very excited about, turns out that's the entire fucking show because for the
next hour, all he does is introduces the next song he's going to play, then plays that whole
song, and then again, reiterates what the song is that you
just heard and I just pulled a clip so you guys can understand this and then we'll
get away from the show. So the epic fail clip what I did is I put a little
fast forward through so you don't have to listen to the whole song but this just
gives you an idea of what this show is all about. Next up it's Streets of
Rage released August 2nd of 1991. Published and developed by Sega for the about. And that was keep the Groven, the ROM 4 stage theme for the streets of rage Sega Genesis game by composer
Yuzo Koshiro.
Geez, so it's like...
This guy sucks so bad because he introduces it beforehand and tells you the
composer and the year it came out and all this nonsense that one gives a
shit about them plays terrible fucking eight-bit music and then comes back
and tells you again and people to understand what podcasts are no ones like coming in in the middle and like oh
what was that what did I just hear it's not like radio right if you
fuck you heard the introduction you know what you just heard and he doesn't
every fucking time and this so this just goes out and I'm listening to it
yesterday and I'm like oh fuck I fucked up I picked the worst
bag and there's no way to review this podcast. Yeah, yeah, no that definitely would have been challenging for sure.
Well you and I would have just had to start talking about video games that we like. So anyway,
uh, it's playing long.
I'm pretty sure that's going to happen with this podcast anyway, but um,
yeah, no, it's funny, like the guy's almost like a DJ.
He's a contap of the board, uh, come's funny like the guy's almost like a DJ He's a contabum of order coming at you everybody. This is the double dragon
Why would anyone just want to listen to this shitty
Music it's so bizarre. All right, and we're gonna get all into that
I had no idea that VGM video game music is actually a whole genre. There are tons of shows about this
Kevin. Oh really? Wow. Yeah. So after I realized that this was an epic fail, I'm like,
fuck, I got to call an audible, I got to find a show for a review. I found a doozy. I'm
pretty happy with what we found here. But there are a lot of podcasts that are devoted
to video game music and that just blows my mind.
So the show that we listen to, as we mentioned,
the Legacy Music Hour, it's hosted by Brent Weinbach
and Rob F. Switch.
We listened to episode number 181.
They started this podcast back in 2010.
Holy shit.
They've been doing this for years.
No, six years. And this episode that we listen to
has a couple of guest hosts on it. These guys called the Game Grumps, Dan, Eviden, and
Aaron Hansen. So apparently these guys have a YouTube show where they play video games
and joke around about them. I did not get a chance to check that out I wasn't too enthusiastic about it
That's like the big trend with like twitch and stuff like you know watch people play video game
Yeah, but apparently these guys have hilarious banter as they're playing games
All right, so you guys all understand the promise. I don't need to belabor this
It's a whole and this was our in 38 minutes long,
just talking about video game music.
So I have a clip here that I think does a really good job
of kind of summing up the show.
It best represents what it is that we listen to,
Track 10.
It's kind of a fun peppy track.
That's a great track.
That reminds me of a, it's very, especially the bass line is very like, what track is it?
It's like from Mega Man 5.
It has the bass line at the end.
It's like, yeah, that doot doot doot doot.
Oh, yeah, I know the track you're talking about actually.
Yeah.
It's like Blizzard Man or, that's six six but um it makes me think of uh you
know the game Slalom for any of the tracks yeah you're right that's actually David
Wise he did the music of the guy who did uh Donkey Kong Country he did music Slalom
that was one of his first games oh wow kidding yeah no kidding, the guy who did Donkey Kong Country, I fucking love his work.
It's amazing. There's real musicians, there's real music out there.
These guys are fucking studying this shit. They know the composers are of this crap music and so bizarre.
Yeah, so at the beginning of the show, right?
I kind of knew what the premise was based off of what it set me.
And going back now, many years, as a 39-year-old male, obviously grew up with Nintendo with NES.
And my favorite game, Music, and yes, I've nerded out with the music thing before is a game called
Solomon's Key and because it has the most ridiculous eight-bit like MIDI music
I've ever heard it's like a whole like it sound like a guitar solo and it's
just ridiculous what's going on in this this song So at the beginning of the show
they're doing like a name that tune and
Wouldn't you know the the first fucking thing that they do is that song?
It's a very obscure game. It's not like one of those games, you know, Mario Brothers or something
You know hold on hold on. I'm gonna I'm gonna interrupt you because I have these clips. Okay, all right
And then I'll let you get into it.
All right.
That's pretty funny though.
Yeah, I knew it right off the bat as soon as he started singing it, I was like,
Oh, Jesus, dude.
That's, yeah.
That's my favorite one.
Yeah.
That is so dorky.
So the thing about this show right off the bat that I was like,
Oh, this is a fucking winner is, like you said,
they're doing like a name that too
now I have a setup for this play track too Dan has been sort of quizzing me
slash me and Rob on some video game tracks to see if we could guess them
he's been humming them and I've been feeling really inadequate lately because I haven't been able to guess them.
Okay, so right there you're like, wait, he's humming the tracks and you have to guess them.
I'm like, okay, if you nerds are doing that in your bedroom, you know, before your mom calls you down for dinner, that's fine.
But then they start doing it on the show, play track three, this is so fucking ridiculous. Can you do the first one that you gave us and I already know the answer to this one.
Sure.
Today, yeah go ahead.
Okay, it went um. Tantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantantant and so on. Yeah. You're that nerd. Nerd!
As soon as he's fucking on that dude I knew the song.
Because it's my favorite video game music. And I'm not into video game music.
But that is one of the most unique video game tracks I've ever heard.
Because it's fucking crazy. I swear the dude was like...
What happened? Yes. Video game tracks I've ever heard because it's fucking crazy. I swear to do is like
Did you stop for pause though? Would you realize that this show is the first 25 minutes? Just them going, okay? How about this one?
Right now it's the show I was totally relating to like the first
I was totally relating to like the first 20
Yeah, I was I was like I was totally I was guessing them right I was guessing them wrong
Yeah, I was all in I was only shit, so this show does have an audience go figure it does
All right, well I got a few more tracks that are like this intro where they're doing this name that tune They're just it's just ridiculous banter play track for
I had a sportsy sound to it you know I thought
It sounds sports yeah sounds like sports
it's a high-played steel it's done
done
done
done
done
I should do
I'll get it out of the eyes. Like, yes, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that Dada da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da I can't believe that these fucking nerds are doing this. So here's track five is called here's a new track to guess that
So after they figured out Salomon's key or whatever the fuck that was now. They're like, all right. What do we got next?
So now you've presented to us a new track
for a new tune and I haven't been able to get it and I can even hum it for you because I've heard the track
You know, you know, da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da Get those nerds! NOOOOOO! NOOOOOO! Hahaha. It's fucking nerds in stereo.
You guys again, it's been in it, in it, in it, in it, in it, in it, in it, in it, in it.
Just for the listeners, I did not know what that one was off the top of my head, so.
No one he does.
No one.
Um, so then I have a track.
This is the actual music that they were just humming that would be just listening to.
Play track 6.
I feel like I can guess a lot of you, Dan.
Oh, sorry.
Oh.
A little more context with the drums, I guess.
Oh, okay.
Harmonize, harmonize guitars.
Is that what that's supposed to be that's what it sounds like
okay yeah I don't know it either it's just it's just it's not good music to
listen to especially when they're fucking trying to hum it. But there was a funny part so the guy, the host, I think,
was getting bummed out because they're pointing these songs
and he didn't know what game they were from.
You know, granted there's been 10,000 fucking video games
and I would hope you wouldn't know which game it's from.
But as nerds tend to do, they wanted to build themselves out
and give a little pep talk.
Here's Trek 7, I call it nerd pep talk.
I just, I feel like I know about video game music that I should be getting these and I'm not.
And I feel really, I feel weak.
Well, you shouldn't because I've seen you kill it a bunch of times on other stuff.
Oh my god.
Yeah.
It's not a being like, not dude, I've seen you kill it before.
You should be like, no, it's good that you don't know what these fucking games are.
That means you probably had a fucking life. This game came out on that one time you left your
house during the summer. That's what you do. Remember that time you talked to a girl. That's what we were playing this game. That's why you don't know it
All right, so I'm gonna keep rolling through this. I got a lot of funny clips from the show. This next one needs a setup
so
They're playing the song that the other guys have to guess and this guy as he's playing the songs He's the one who chose it like hey guys check this one out see if you can guess it
He loses his shit during it. He cannot contain himself play track 8
East what
He's like tapping on the guy's like
Why?
He's like tapping on the guy's like
Derramey and singing along with it. I was just picturing like it's could you mention this guy to fucking maiden cancer?
Where there's actually good music going out in front of you musicians. Maybe like where's my controller?
I think I would fucking be losing a shit like oh my god. This is a real riffing played out of guitar. This is amazing
I've actually stood back since I had maiden in countries That's why I know this right
Yeah, like how do I play aces high? This is a cool track, but where's my controller?
Is this is this the scene when you're under water or is this from the cave? I can't remember. I don't know. I can't relate this
God, and then sad part is that I relate all too well to most of this shit, but I had a feeling
you were going to want to pile out as much as I was going to watch it.
Well, I mean, I generally don't, but yeah, this one is like, I had a little close to
him, especially since you picked this podcast and then picked episode 181 at random, I'm
sure.
And the first fucking song is the one song
that I always tell everybody,
that's the best video game music.
Cause that's the fucking kind of nerd I am, you know.
That's fucking funny.
Yeah, yeah, it's ridiculous.
So the reason I picked episode 181 is because it is
the most recent episode that they have out there.
But they do these episodes in between, so there's 181 because it is the most recent episode that they have out there, but they do these episodes in between.
So there's 181 episodes, but that in between those episodes, they have mix tapes.
They're called LMH mix tapes.
They're up to 49 of those.
So that's where they just kind of play a bunch of music.
That's if you want to get in your car and just listen to fucking shitty, midi video game
music. And you're all fucking commute. You and just listen to fucking shitty MIDI video game music and your whole fucking commute
You can just download one of those fucking things
Those should be rounded up and just put into fucking camps. Shouldn't they?
So on this next one
The uh the guy who's one of these guys on the show is the lead singer of a band
And so the setup is the host is talking about you know when you're on stage and you're setting up your next song
You know you want to have banter with the audience and then you know say the name of the song
So he asked them whether he does that and I play track 11
The first person I saw do that was David Coverdell from White Snake
He was talking and just doing this bancer and then he said, you know, there's a lot of
love out here.
I see people, there's couples beautiful, but you know, sometimes you just have to ask yourself,
is this love and then the crowd, guys, that's why...
That's pretty good.
We're trying to...
Do you do that?
You know what?
I haven't yet because our, you know, it's kind of trickier when you have songs with names like Dinosaur Laser Fight.
A bunch of god damn nerds.
NARGE!
Dinosaur Laser Fight.
Yeah, what kind of band is this guy?
Oh yeah, our hit song is Dinosaur Laser Fight.
I got a K.
There's a lot of beautiful people here
some of them from the prehistoric age
one would say dinosaurs
laser fights
I'm having a fight with a light guy
you could call it a laser fight
there was a part in the show I don't know if you remember this but they're You could call it a laser fight. Oh, gosh.
There was a part in the show.
I don't know if you remember this,
but they were talking about a piece of music from the game Echo.
And the music was called The Fish Caves.
Do you remember that?
I was like, dude, I'm never using the word sugar walls again.
Fish Caves.
What's that?
Holy fuck. Oh my God. Dude, I'm never using the word sugar walls again fish games
Holy fuck oh my god the fish cake check check out these fish caves. Oh my god
That is fucking amazing and that's a children's game too
From today's episode it's that fish caves is an amazing way to explain the earth canal. Oh, Jesus. Oh, baby, you like my fish caves. So this next part I want to get into.
I have a bunch of clips that relate to this whole section they get into or
there. There's just this one little riff in this one song where this guy cannot fucking believe how amazing this riff is
it was obviously written by Lenin McCartney because it's just the best you know melodically
it's just the greatest thing to ever happen so here's the setup to that play track 12
so I still have chill chill number four I like this I like this I like this part especially for here
I still have chill chill number four. I like this. I like this part especially
That was good. Oh, that was so good right there. Oh
My god
That was so good right there and then he has to sing it
That's not that's not that good right no
So That's not that's not that good right no So listen so listen to this guy these guys go on and out about this shitty part And I call this next track do these guys know they will see the shitty music from a video game
That's so good right there. I love that. I love that. That's so good. It's almost like a solo.
That's the best. Yeah. That's the best. That's the best right there.
That's like what I wrote. Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, this sort of thing, you know, yeah, bye.
Oh my god.
Dude, that's fucking nice.
That's even nerdy on your standards.
There's no way you're talking about, uh,
Solomon's run or whatever the fuck he came here talking about.
No, but I think, I mean, you appreciate music obviously, you're a musician.
So you, I got to play fucking Solomon's key. Uh, if I could find it here, I'll have to play that obviously, you're a musician, so you... I gotta play fucking Solomon's Key.
If I could find it here, I'll have to play that middle part, because it's like...
It's fucking crazy.
Solomon's Key, when I call it Solomon's Run.
Solomon's Run.
Solomon's Key, I got it.
So I'll look for that and see if I could put that in there into the podcast.
Okay.
Everyone needs to hear it, because it's crazy.
It's like, well, maybe we should make a whole mixtape
of all the best tracks from that game.
Yeah, yeah.
How about I just play the game straight through
with all the audio and then no video?
I just, in the middle of it, you'd hear me take a piss
or you'd hear me throw the controller when I couldn't
get past the level. I think that that could be an entertaining podcast. Can I hear you blow
into the cartridge? Just to get it to work. Right. Blow into the cartridge. Call the Nintendo
power hotline because I need help with the game. Oh, hello. Yeah, I can't get past level one dash four on
Solomon's key. Oh, yeah, there are all your new tattoos.
Mash the keys quick. Mash it. Why you pray such old game.
Why you pray such old game. So wait, was there really an Nintendo hotline?
You could call for a reviewed questions.
Oh yeah, yeah.
An Nintendo power, I mean, I think the power was a magazine.
And I believe there was an Nintendo power hotline that you could call.
And they had, that was the official one.
They had like different ones, like in generic ones, because that's how hot the NES was when I was out
Yeah, you had you know use have your parents permission and you fucking called
Like a 900 number. Yeah, like a 976 like sex line, but it was for the Nintendo tips
Yeah, if you want hot gaysha girl press one for help on salamans key press two dude the what the
world before the internet fucking sucked a unit away from magazine to come out
and then you had to like call an 800 number to figure out how to fix out of
get past shit oh this is nothing that's it away this is like back I remember
they're being a telephone game
that you could play.
So it was a phone number you called
and then it was like that it was an audio, obviously audio,
back saying like welcome to spooky mansion.
If you want to go into room number one, press two
on your keyboard.
Oh yeah.
Yeah, like, and you would do that and it was free.
So I remember just doing that, like a bunch of times,
like to see if I could like beat the fucking telephone game.
That's the, that's the level of nerdiness
that I bring into the table here.
Hold on a second, that's that, that's that nerdiness.
That's called being poor.
Well, I mean, I don't feel bad for you.
That was what was for you.
Holy shit. Where did you grow up?
I didn't realize there were a remotractor to get our houses.
I was saying, I think I grew up four houses down from your house.
Holy shit.
Yeah, I guess that was on my off days, like, you know, if the Nintendo
power hotline was busy or if my controller was broken
I would play spooky mansion on the
The analog phone
Did you throw your phone when you would lose just like a like a controller? I'd slam it up dramatically like
Like Robert Nero and good fellas. I just fucking slam the receiver. Yeah
and good fellas, I just fucking slam the receiver. Yeah.
So did the game end with and the phone call is coming
from inside the hall.
It's so meta.
No, it would bleed into the 976 line.
So you'd be like the spooky mansion and you want to go
into this door and then you go in and there's like this
giant orgy going on, like a lemon, like a lemon party
was going on.
There's something like that.
So weird shit.
I was excited for a second.
Now I'm gonna gross out.
All right, so I do have getting back to that.
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
This is an ISO of that track that we just listened to.
It's just the best part of that track.
Number 14.
Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh,
and it's kind of a duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh,
yeah, you're an nerd.
So then they're talking for a little while in this music, because the thing about video game
music that none of these shows seem to address is it's just loops.
It's just fucking, it just goes out and out and out forever
It's not really good music. So
They're just talking and then all of a sudden the park comes back again
And you gotta hear how whoever is like running the show is like oh, here's the part. They like it just cranks it up
Let's play track 15
It's just like outrun but was the third release and not run series. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Revenge of columns. Right. Yeah. Outrunners revenge of college. So there's a genesis poor. Oh, yes.
There goes the
That's so good right there. I like it. I love that. But I'm done. Yeah. I love that grace note thing. Yeah.
Love that. But I'm done.
Yeah.
I love that grace note thing.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
Kevin, that wasn't the same track I played before.
He fucking is still creaming his jeans over that fucking thingy.
Fucking grace note.
Ugh.
They're so excited.
All right.
So here's a track.
They talk about, and I think you were saying this too
But they were talking about how there were guitar harmonies and shit
And I don't know how you pick out these instruments. It all sounds like
MIDI nonsense to me, but
Play track 16 you're talking about the trumpets
I like how they there's like these little trumpets that kind of come in
in the second part here that you hear them doing these sort of little trills.
These are not trills with these little triplets. Yeah, something. I think that's what it sounds like, but I just need to tell it. All right, so what I thought I would do Kevin is I pulled out a song by a band that has
trumpets in it, and I put in some video game music in the middle.
I just want to see if you can tell where it switches from real trumpets to the video game
trumpets, see if you can figure this out. Play Track 17. So I think it's really...
The scene was...
Yeah, I think that it switches the video game music.
So I guess my point is, these fucking retards can be listening to Chicago instead of
flipping the video game music for 181 episodes.
Hey, this is that trumpet part.
No, it's not.
It's more fucking nonsense.
This is not good music.
You picked a really good Chicago tune to play the Outs.
It is.
You get a fucking shred.
It's like this is music.
What are you guys in a fucking studio?
Oh, shit.
Oh, boy.
Kevin, I got some more tracks to go through here. I think you're gonna find them entertaining.
Number 18 is where they talk about an exciting past episode that I cannot wait to go into the archives and find.
New 3D golf simulation. Oh, yeah, this is, yeah. is the next track. I've got lined up for you guys
Golf games have the best music. It's just if you like jazzy kind of chill vibe. Yeah, yeah, I feel like a chill vibe
Oh, you like a jazzy chill vibe
Golf game. We did a whole we did a whole episode of golf music ones. Oh
Man, yeah, could you imagine if you like download a podcast like all right today we're gonna listen to nothing but music from golf video games like oh
right
oh my delete
that's this watching golf and
I mean playing a golf video game I guess is all right, but
Golf video game music that just sounds like I want to eat a bullet. It just
No, it's it's according to these guys. It just, uh, no.
Oh, it's, it's, according to these guys, it's awesome.
So then they listen to this, this golf video game music
and this is what this guy comes out with after the song
and play track 19.
Oh man, that's terrific.
It's a great tune.
It's funny how music from golf games and dating simulators are almost indistinguishable.
Dating simulators.
Yeah, I mean, it just, like, maybe not dating simulators, but like, what the fuck is it?
He just still...
Guys, just playing games where he's like pretending he's out of date and the guys are like wait what what are you doing?
He's like oh shit. I just fucking dirt out a little too hard
Princess Peach I know you're in another castle, but
Dude, he said he said in backtracking so good. He's like right guys. It's not just like dating to his I mean
No, not dating simulator. It's have who we even know for those are.
Oh, Raiju Street Fighter, Raiju.
Oh, long.
Oh, Jesus.
So now I have, now we're pretty far into the show
at this point.
We're probably like an hour and 20 minutes in.
And there's more, these guys just cannot contain themselves.
I love singing this music. This this guy really gets into a play track 20.
Sounds like what I just did with fucking sound and skiing.
But I don't think you would have done that if we hadn't been talking about these nerds
doing that.
So I'll give you a, I'll defend you on that one.
I just, I just gave you the nerd pep talk.
All right.
You know, you don't know, you're not around me enough to know that I just bust into video
game song at any moment or any song for that matter.
It's been, you can ask my girlfriend, she
pretty much wants to stab me in the neck every five minutes because I'm
constantly singing some fucking song that she hates. Do you sing like all the
guitar riffs though, too? Are you like, ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na- And then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then You don't do that. Listen to this fucking, this guy is like so over the top.
He just makes this crazy noise.
I call it the crazy noise ISO. Buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-buh-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la I'm gonna be doing it. I'm gonna be doing it. Dude, fucking Star Wars 9.
You're gonna be doing the fucking voice talent.
What's going on?
What's going on?
Oh, good.
All right, so they start talking about this video game
called Time Lord.
I don't know if you got this far into the show.
Okay, this was near the end.
I didn't, and I'm curious because I've never heard of this game before, and the other
nerd in me, because there's several, would come out and say, time lord, that's Dr.
Who?
Dr. Who is a time lord?
So I kept seeing references to time lord, and I was like getting excited, but I don't
think this is a Doctor Who game so
You could play and I don't think you should get excited either way
I need to drop the nerd clip in after every time I talk in this pocket
Seriously
NERTS NERTS NERTS
So these guys riff on this game time Lord and how shitty it is
But here's a track 21
If you guys go into the bathroom at midnight
And you look into the mirror and you say time Lord time Lord time Lord
The time Lord will come out
It's a game where we'll come out. It's a game.
A really fun game.
Uh, that's a two-pull-over joke.
The No Sleep Podcast we did last week was the exact same thing.
He got into our room and he had a leg of a mirror.
Blow into the cartridge.
You put it in the NES.
And then you push the power button and then you wait because your
easy Mac is just about to ding and then microwave and that's all the dinner you were left
when your mom went out to her stripper job.
And then I have this other clip and um, I call it just brilliant improv.
This guy tries to get it on the time-ward goof action and just fucking fails miserably.
A play track 22.
Um, I actually heard that if you, I heard that if you, I heard that if you play through
time-lord and you beat it it you have to play it again
Really not know where he was going with that at the beginning
Well, that's what was funny because he gave himself so much time
He's like I heard that you know what what I heard so Kevin you know what I heard about that is that
If you if you play that game
You know, I just like it's like wheels are spinning there going nowhere fast
There's no room for comedy up there because there's you know fucking 23 years of video game music crammed in there and it was brain
Yeah, it's all the grace notes that he has crab to do is brain, you can't think of anything but it. Blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, blu, I play guitar and here is a track that we put on one of our CDs.
You'll probably recognize this tune. You know what, you know what we don't have recorded Kevin is Tyson's punch out, which
we did used to play also.
Remember it was like, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,
bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, b Oh yeah, yeah Did we play that but then it was like the running theme?
Running I forget how it goes. No, but yeah, that was
I was very pretty pop in with your
Singing the tune. I'm trying to remember how the whole went I
Think I think the part I was just singing was the running player
remember how the hell it went. I think I think the part I was just thinking was the running player. No, it wasn't because that's the actual in game play. Anyway, that could just
have. Fuck, I don't know. It totally lost all credibility with everything we made
fun of. No, it's funny. I probably am sure pitched the Solomon's key theme at some point when I was in the band.
You probably did.
I was like, the fuck out of his band.
Yeah, I was like, dude, you gotta hear this fucking song.
It's fucking great.
But seriously, I found it.
So if you wanna hear just a little taste of it, here is-
Can I do the tiniest of tastes?
All right, we'll do a slight morsel of taste.
A moose-boosh of, I think that's the correct term,
if you're a chef out there. Anyway, here we go. Alright, so that's the beginning of the song.
What a surprise!
I'm already getting popped up over here.
There's a part in there where it's like, dude, dude, dude, dude that dude is imitating. It's awesome.
But if you're a huge nerd like me and you want some amazing video game music, you should
first check out the isotopes. Super Mario Bros. cover. But also check out Solomon's
key. It's the theme of that, and it's on YouTube.
You could check it out.
Sounds like a terrible idea.
It probably is, but I would recommend
to everybody that they do not do that.
Or the alternative is that you can have sex.
Those are the other things you could actually.
Yeah, right.
You could have an approach.
Read a buck, people. You could read a book, read a book, people educate yourself. All right. So, Kevin, this has been a lot of fun.
Laughing at nerds is one of my favorite things to do. But the good news is
is that we're going to do this again next week. And so I do have a teaser
that I want to play. So, Kevin, please play the clip that I have to tease next week's episode.
And I was reading your history or bio and you grew up in New Jersey.
You were delivering pizzas right at age 19.
And your mom said, what are you going to do as moms tend to do with how you deal with
yourself?
And what was your answer at that time?
My mom just said, you know, are you going to deliver peace of the rest of your life?
And then I was like, yeah, this is awesome.
I make $100 a day in cash and, you know, I didn't have any plans for the future.
So she kind of convinced me to start going to college.
And I went originally enrolled to be a nurse just because a
couple of my cousins were and then there's so much going on in that clip that I want to talk about.
So this is interesting. It is a show called Weekly Infusion and it stars Dr. Drew and Dr.
Bruce, which you'll probably know from obviously Love Line, Dr. Drew, you know, Dr. Drew Pinsky's been a lot of things.
Dr. Bruce you would know from the world of Adam Corolla has been on this radio show and his podcast a lot.
So these guys are professional broadcasters, quote unquote, sort of speak.
And they're doing their own podcast and it sounds like a fucking train wreck. This is actually a listener
Sent this in for us to check out
It's it's interesting because not only is there someone getting an email twice
Yeah, but the way the the the woman on the phone sounds
It's she sounds like a robot, like out of the gate.
Like, it's like, the audio quality is garbage.
Like, I am, yes, I was delivering pizzas.
I used my autonomous flying drone to deliver pizzas
for $100 a day.
Yeah, this is gonna be an interesting one,
just based on the technical issues of the
30-second clip we just listened to
Well, that that's what I like about it is that it should be good because they have all the money and equipment in the world and
Yet it sounds like fucking shit, and I'm excited. I have a feeling it's gonna suck. Yay
Okay
So guys, please join us again next week
because it might be the show where we find out
once and for all, who are these podcasts?
Sleep well, every pony.
Party for the monsters of morning radio.
And now to show these colds right now. Thank you! You know, who are these?
Podcasts. I don't know.
