Who Are These Podcasts? - Ep90 - Just a Bill

Episode Date: January 14, 2018

This week we review a show hosted by two guys named Bill who interview a celebrity whose first name is Bill. Just about everything in that previous sentence is false. It's just grown children playing ...pretend... poorly.  Jen from the Jingles Department joins the show. She spent the week trying to pull clips and figure out her angle on the show. You know what she didn't spend the week doing? Recording more jingles. It's been a long freakin' time. Come on Jen!! We also spend some time talking about all of the hate we've been receiving recently. There are a lot of angry people on the internet. I wish these angry people would focus their efforts on something that is truly enraging - terrible improv comedy. There's a lot of it and it needs to be stopped! Learn more about your ad choices. Starting point is 00:00:00 Before we begin today's show, we'd like to present the following disclaimer. Who are these podcasts for entertainment purposes only? The hosts are not important people. Whether they are talking about you, a friend of yours, your favorite podcast host, or an actual missing person, none of what they say has any effect on anything in the real world. W-A-T-P does not force anyone to listen to the show. In fact, not listening to the show is almost the easiest thing you could possibly do in
Starting point is 00:00:33 life. It's much, much harder to find the show and spend time listening to it. If you do, and you don't like the content, it seems pretty logical that you would probably just stop listening and never listen again. We actually encourage all snowflakes to please do this. To be outraged and explained to other people on the internet or to WATP's hosting company, how upset you are is not only a poor use of your time, it actually only serves to promote the very content you wish to condemn.
Starting point is 00:01:05 And now, for all of the well-adjusted rational people who are listening, we hope you enjoy the show. But I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm a bad guy, but I'm Jen from the Jingles department. Who likes these podcasts? Not WHOA TV. Who likes these podcasts? That one's beyond me. Who are these podcasts? WHOA TV. W-A-T-P! W-A-T-P! W-A-T-P! W-A-T-P! W-A-T-P! Hello, Flat Earthers! Hello, welcome to another episode of Who Are These Podcasts, the only show they can rack up dozens of one-star reviews in less than a week.
Starting point is 00:02:35 I'm your host, Carl, with me as always is Jen from the Jingles Department. Hi. Welcome. I'd like to remind our listeners you can visit us at whoarethese.com, our Facebook page, or on Twitter at whoarethese.com. Email the show watpshowatgmail.com, we're always looking for podcast suggestions. Also, if you like what you hear, don't forget to give us a positive five star review on iTunes.
Starting point is 00:02:57 We've gotten a shit ton of one star reviews recently and I'll get into how that all came about. Today we'll be reviewing a podcast called Justa Bill, a suggestion from Tim who wrote into the show. Jen and I have both listened to the show separately. We have not discussed it with each other beforehand. Let's get into it. Justa Bill is a podcast with two hosts, David Howe and G. Sue Pock, and they pretend to be Bill Johnson and Bill Jackson. So the whole premise is that they're both Bill. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:30 And then they interview someone who pretends to be a famous Bill. Right. And we listened to, when we teased this last week, we had an episode of interviewing Bill Bellachack. And we also listened to episodes with Bill Clinton and Bill Nye. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:47 So we listen to three episodes of this podcast to get a very good understanding of what's going on. And it is sticky. It is sticky. I have a, if you play track one, I've got the perfect clip to sum it up. All right. And it's like a really, really long joke
Starting point is 00:04:04 with like kind of a whimper of a punch line. Yeah. I pulled the exact same clip. I have that as well because that is the perfect explanation of what this show is. They... I'm going to use the word nonsense a lot today. It's nothing but nonsense, the entire time. And because they're improv comedians, the whole rhythm, temple of the show,
Starting point is 00:04:30 or the way that it all works, is that somebody throws out a premise, and then the other person has to come up with jokes around that premise. Right. I'm gonna play a bunch of examples of the setup and then what that leads to for the punchline. I have a lot of clips from the Bill Quentin show and this is them in the beginning talking about
Starting point is 00:04:51 growing a long beard. Yes, there was one person that I heard that really enjoyed it. I'm not gonna say his name on the air, but he's got a big beard and he's got a cleanly shaved head. Oh. Okay, so they're talking about someone we don't know who they're talking about. And because the guy says he's got a big beard, he's like,
Starting point is 00:05:10 I can work with that. Here comes my joke. Speaking of, before we get on to anything we can have to do with this episode, I've always wanted to have a beard so long that I could be bald on the top of my head and wrap it around the side of my head, back over the other side, and then tie it back at the bottom. That's always been a dream of mine.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Oh, Ron, call me, oh, Ron I have it going. It's track three. Oh, okay. I've always wanted to have a beard so long that I could be bald on the top of my head. I'll just, uh, pass forward. I'll just, uh, pass forward. Back of the other side and then tie it back at the bottom. That's always been a dream of mine. But I gave that up, um, because I no longer have a beard. Yeah, my wife Rachel, she won't let me have a beard anymore. She says it messes up. I don't like, I go down on her.
Starting point is 00:06:11 She doesn't like it. It makes her comfortable. It tickles her. I actually can't grow a beard and that was one of the reasons Rachel said she was leaving me. Yeah, she told me that. Yeah, she said, she really likes men who can grow beards, but she wants to control them so that they don't have them. So they had that recurring Rachel joke? Yeah. I, I don't understand. I felt like they almost didn't want us to understand
Starting point is 00:06:35 what was going on. Well, here's the gag that's going on. The one bill is married to Rachel, who's the other bill's ex-girlfriend. Right. And the other bill whenever he brings up Rachel? And the other Bill, whenever he brings up Rachel, the Bill's like, Oh, yeah, I'm used to be with Rachel. And I don't know where that goes or why they're doing that. It's not fun or funny or interesting.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Not really. I mean, they do touch on in almost every episode. They do. Yes. It's a reoccurring bit. Yeah. As they say. So I just have a bunch of examples of them throwing out ridiculous premises and then, okay, now we're going to create jokes around it. Here is just when they're introing the show, they like to start off by talking about things going on in their personalize, but of course it's all just schick and nonsense. Yeah. Because they're just playing characters that aren't real people. So that's how this is how that that sounds. just playing characters that aren't real people. So that's how this is all that that sounds. Bill Johnson here who works in a cassette tape manufacturing plant. How's your, how's work going, though? So this is very much, I feel like I'm at an improv show. Hey, you were going to cassette tape
Starting point is 00:07:37 manufacturing plant. How's that going? And then he's got to run with this. So here comes his dynamite jokes on this. There's a lot of requests coming through for kids' Bob version of songs. Yeah, except there's just some slightly off-tune, and usually by singers who have like gaps in their teeth. So when they sing. So like Mike Tyson, like, did it letterman and stuff like that. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly, exactly. Yeah. Long, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:07 You're gonna notice I put in a lot of clips from the Chip Chippers and Pada Caste because these guys are real life Chip Chippers. They think they're being hilarious all the time. They're like, I'm just riffing, I'm just hilarious. Everything I say, just because you spout nonsense, doesn't make it fun or entertaining or funny. The people that they have on the show are also trying to be fun and interesting. And they're playing a character,
Starting point is 00:08:35 but they're not really playing a character, and that's the bit. They're not even doing an impression of the person that they're doing. Like, here's an example of the terrible impression this guy does, and it actually makes the other guy crack up because this is the bit. And that politician would be Ronald Reagan,
Starting point is 00:08:53 who famously told Bill Corbichoff to tear down that wall. He said, tear down this wall partner. That's a good Reagan partner. That's good. Gregor impression. That's not not a good Reagan brushes. Not funny. No, it's not. I mean, this I tried all week while I was listening to these to figure out, okay,
Starting point is 00:09:18 what's my angle going to be when I talk about this? And there's no angle. There's no angle. There is no angle. It's just, it's just a waste of everybody's time. It's exactly like the other show that you and I did together. Mike and Tom eat snacks. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:29 It's exactly the same premise. We're gonna be playing characters that say random, stupid things and we're gonna do it for 40 minutes straight. That was mercifully short though, thankfully. Yeah, that one was shorter, but this is, this interview style podcast where they get into and I'll just play a clip here where they talk to Bill Clinton. And again, here's the set up to the joke former president. We have to address him by his profit.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Okay, president by the president. Well, I can't say the pro. How should I call? How do I refer to you? Okay. So here he is, lofted up that softball. Hey, what do I call you for, a president Bill Clinton? All right, so this guy's like, oh, I'm going to be knocking this one out of the park. There's a lot, I mean, Billy the Prince.
Starting point is 00:10:19 You can Willie, Bill, Mr. Press, President, President, President Spencer,. Press, President, uh... Press dispenser. Press dispenser. Press dispenser. Pea Clinton, uh, Pea Willie. How about Pea Clint? Walkin' home, Ron, Jefferson!
Starting point is 00:10:35 I clipped that too, but only because that was one of the things that actually did make me laugh, because I thought President Sponsor wanted. Presdispenser? Didn't make me laugh. But then he settles on P-Clit. Jenna playing a lot of clips. What else? I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:10:49 I see you crossing things off as I play by clips. It was like we grab similar things here. Well, because the Clinton one was the easiest one to pull from. I had a hard time pulling from the other ones. There was no starting or stopping point really that anybody would understand. Right. There was just no way to shrink.
Starting point is 00:11:05 I don't know. I know, because the thing you read that little fast forward, sound if I put in one of my clips there, the thing is, is that they take a premise. They just beat the dead horse over and over again. I actually have a clip that kind of gives you an example of what I'm talking about. This is talking to Bill Bellichack who talks about how he kills people. And I'm gonna back up on this
Starting point is 00:11:32 Bill Belichack stuff, but let me just play you this because this is an example of them just dragging something on and on forever. It definitely sounds like you're just murdering to solve your problems. Oh, um, when was the first time you ever did anything like that? So when's the first time you killed someone to solve your problems? And this guy that they have on playing Bill Bellachuk is has to be the worst improv comedian I've ever heard of my life. The only thing he had going for him is that he was able to do that voice for as long as he did other than that.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Voice is fucking annoying. I was so annoying. So listen to this and I call this embarrassing because it just gets embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for them. When was your first kill? I killed a dog when I was two. But wow. Okay, why?
Starting point is 00:12:18 I can do that. Yeah, I feel like that would be difficult for a two of you. Well, I don't remember. I was two, but my parents told me that I that would be difficult for a to you. Uh, well, I don't remember I was to but My parents told me that I actually kind of started turning into a serpent almost just wiggling around and trapped myself around the dog and Just strangled it with my body That's incredible. I didn't even know that was physically possible. Can you do that still? Oh, yeah, let's see a moment. Oh Good gracious
Starting point is 00:13:03 Wow, hey are you doing okay? Oh, okay, oh man. That was that was terrifying That was embarrassing. I pulled that exact same clip. Did you have that too? Sorry. That's okay. That's probably the same exact clip. Because they actually went in and post and put in production behind it to try to sweeten it a little bit.
Starting point is 00:13:16 I would have just taken it out if I had done something in post with that. The guy pretends to be a serpent and strangle the co-host. Well, and that was the thing for the whole rest of the time that he's, it was so insane. So stupid. I couldn't, it's like talking to little kids. They just make up nonsense and you're like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:13:34 And they're like a family member yet to sit there and pretend it's interesting. But these are not my family members and they're not even little kids. So I'm not gonna pretend that this is interesting. I know, and what bummy out was the concept of it, I was kinda like, oh, maybe this will be okay, because just a bill, that's an interesting concept.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Yes, it's, well, I love it. I think it's kind of funny that they would do that, and that the people that they list, like Bill Cosby, there's one, Bill Belichark, I was kind of looking forward to. Bill Nye, I was really looking forward to. And then it just didn't do anything. Well, worse than didn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:14:14 This guy, when they're explaining that he strangled a dog when he was two by turning into a serpent, right there, and I have this ISO, this is what they should have done way more often right let's go and move on from that There was one time we're finally the one host just like okay, this is fucking dumb once pretend that didn't happen They should have done it a lot more often instead They guy acts out that he's trying to the guy who's a whoa whoa hey whoa wait whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa It's like oh no guys Whoa, whoa, hey, whoa, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa. It's like, oh no, guys, it's so douche chile. It reminded me of like going to, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:49 vocal improv shows. Yes. Which is the most- Yes. Well, this guy teaches an improv class. And when we got the suggestion from our listener, he said, hey, this is my improv teacher who does a show. And we teased it. And then we got notes notes saying don't do the Bill Bollochek one because that one's bad
Starting point is 00:15:09 Do the other do the other ones. They're all exactly the same. I don't know what he's talking about They literally think that some of these are better than other ones. They're all exactly the same It's just like talking about nonsense and making up bullshit right and pretending that it's fun or interesting So this is a clip from The Bill Nye episode and it's track two all right Anyway, you and him debated and he was talking about how God created the earth in six days and you had a different idea Can you run that down for us? I didn't have a different idea. I had science Now if you think about what Kenham puts forward,
Starting point is 00:15:47 you realize very quickly that it's based in a whole bunch of, to use an unscientific term, mumbo jumbo. Okay. Kenham is not a scientist. Kenham is not a smart man. Kenham is a man named after a meat and a doll. He's a meat doll.
Starting point is 00:16:04 We're all meat dolls. That's science. So well Ken Ham is an Australian Christian fundamentalist. Okay. So everybody knows I had to look that up and I didn't know who Ken Ham was. I had no idea. But that's the kind of like jokes for getting in this show. Well at least the guy who plays Bill Nye I think is trying to do a Bill Nye impression. Is he? I think so. Well it is trying to do a Bill Nye impression. Is he? I think so. Well, it's hard to do a Bill Nye impression because he just sounds like a normal guy. Well, right. But, you know, these other guys like Clinton, I mean, the Bill Bellachek thing is so over
Starting point is 00:16:35 the top. I think aren't they all the same guy? No, the Bill guests are the same. No, the Bill Bellachek guy is this guy Kyle Berthusen. I'm probably pronouncing that wrong. And his description for this guy is he's a comedy icon slash legend slash John legend. Improve and sketch performer and podcaster in the Austin area. He does monthly sketch shows with loyal comedy and third Saturday of every month at the
Starting point is 00:17:03 new movement. He does the megaphone show. Im Saturday at 1030 and hosts a podcast about television called the Watson. I can only imagine what that is like. But anytime that you have to explain that you're a comedian and an improv person 17 times in a row, you're probably not that funny. Here is the Bill Bellicek intro. So this is them introducing that they have Bill Bellicek on the show. Oh, thank you very much for coming, sir. Thank you for stepping in at our time of me. That's what I do. Yes. I step in for the American public when needed, sometimes I help anybody really in distress.
Starting point is 00:17:46 So really, yeah. What else have you done as a life coach of source? Okay, so here, that's the setup. That's the setup, right? So the very first question they asked is guy who's playing Bill Bell check, this Kyle guy, this comedian, according to his bio. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:03 He decides he's going to swing for the fences. He's either like, oh, what do you do that's related to life coaching? And this is what he comes up with. Well, the one you all know about probably is how the Patriots began. How it made them good. How did that happen? Well, it was around 2001 Are you okay? Are you are you are you are you crying? I give the moment. Yeah, okay? You're searing up listening sure sure sure George Bush needed something to get the meat. No both really okay, but junior He they needed something to get the media off them about technically losing the election. So I cooked up 9-11.
Starting point is 00:18:50 I already made some food! Wow, are you going to say you bill coach Bill Belichak? Yes, did 9-11. I, yeah. Wow. So the first thing this guy does is he says, I'm behind 9-11 He cooked it up. Oh, like what the fuck is wrong with this asshole?
Starting point is 00:19:10 Like it worked your way up to that or something if you're gonna go there. I had that exact clip Okay, it's a long one. It's right. That's how brutal this show is to listen to it was I don't know who this is for Well, and the in the voice yeah boy. Well, I started with Bill Balachak. Yes. Then I did Bill Knight. Then I did Bill Clinton. I guess I didn't really understand the true premise of this show because I was like, how are these guys
Starting point is 00:19:34 getting these guys on these shows? And then it's like, what's this real balachak? Oh my god, Chad, are you kidding me? Holy shit. Oh my god. I didn't think about it too much. Bill, you thought they had Bill Clinton? Is there a second podcast? Oh my god. Bill, you thought they had Bill Clinton? Is there a second podcast?
Starting point is 00:19:49 I didn't listen to that one last, but I didn't know that Bill. I'll have to check. So you thought that was really Bill Balachack? Would you first start listening to this? No, I didn't. I thought it was going to be before I listened to it. Holy shit. Oh my god, I've embarrassed for everyone.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Well, don't be embarrassed for everyone. Just be embarrassed for me. But the voice goes on and on and on. He never stops talking like that and then it just gets super weird. I didn't even clip anything else because I didn't even know what to do. Alright, well, I have one more clip from that show and then we'll move on from it. This is, again, here's the setup so that they can give this guy an opportunity to make a joke. Now how can you actually coach a team without having some kind of personal connection with them? Okay. How do you coach a team without having
Starting point is 00:20:36 a personal connection with them? And good question. Thank you. And it's not, it's not, look, I am a coach who likes to do the opposite of what other people are doing. And everybody wants to make a team very friendly. The real trick is just make them enemies, and then they fight harder for the death of just winning. I've killed multiple players. Uh oh, re-tart alert!
Starting point is 00:20:57 Re-tart alert class! Do you understand life? They kill for winning? What is the fuck is this guy talking about? He has no idea what he's trying to say or where he's trying to go with it. I'm impressed. Yeah, I don't exactly. That isn't, bro. He's just, this guy's the worst.
Starting point is 00:21:16 He is zero comedic timing or ability. I just have everyone kill each other. That's how I'm a coach. Oh yeah, okay. It was, yeah. It was hard to listen. That episode was really hard to listen to. They're all really hard to listen to.
Starting point is 00:21:32 They're all the same. They're all like this. Do you have any more of the Bill Balachack ones you want to play? I don't. I'm out of those. Because I have a good example of their improv on track four.
Starting point is 00:21:41 All right. It's when they introduce President Bill Clinton. But now, is've got to talk about our special guest. Our special guest. Our special guest, ladies and gentlemen, please make the presidential song march with your mouth and your hands and your feet. For President Bill Clinton. and your feet. For president Bill Clinton. Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba That one. I do I need to. I mean, that was just such great improv. Yep. With your hands and your mouth and your feet. Yep.
Starting point is 00:22:29 It's pretty good stuff. All right. I wanna like these guys. Okay. I do. Why? I just wanna like them. I feel like they're trying.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Here's another setup here. And lobbing it over the plate. What's one of the symbols that we see every day that we just don't know the true meaning of? Oh, no. There's a lot of that you buying themselves time. There's a lot of, oh, great question. Yeah, that is interesting. So here is the answer to what are some of the symbols
Starting point is 00:23:07 we don't know the meaning to. I mean, most of our monuments are just phallic. So I think we all call them. You did. That's all. I mean, that all we want, we want to DC on a field trip together once when we were back at community college.. Yeah. And I said, I said, I said, that's that's a penis. That's a penis. That's a penis. I've always thought that Abraham Lincoln sitting in that chair looks like a big mishaping penis. I've been calling that for you. Hippiecai for the muckels. Oh my God. Yeah. It's pretty pretty bad. Well, if you want to play track seven. Yeah
Starting point is 00:23:48 That's when they start talking about presidents having sex. Oh, right. So the the question is if Hillary wins will be the first time that two presidents have had sex with each other and here's their brilliant improv Will this be the first time? That two presidents have had sex with each other? No actually this is gonna be juicy. Little known fact but FDR had a thing for Hoover. I should fucking do it. Now I know I always wondered why they call them Hoover. Yeah, because they suck. Mm-hmm. Oof. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:30 That's a rough one right there. That's a joke. That's a joke. That's why they call them Hoover. Because he sucks. Good one. He sucks. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:43 It's all about the deliver. I didn't even realize. This is getting tedious. He sucks. Yeah, it's all about the deliver ready. Didn't even realize this is getting tedious. I know. And that's the problem with this. So I want to play, I've been going back and listening to the biggest problem in the universe podcast and catching up on all the old episodes.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And this is a show where my buddy Dick Masterson from the Dick show comes on and he brings problems and explains problems that are happening. And there was one that I listened to recently that is exactly these two sticky assholes. Here is Dick Masterson. But comedians do this, this really horrible thing. Yeah. Lately it's been assaulting women, but before those scandals, it was something
Starting point is 00:25:27 that was almost as bad, which is constantly making jokes. Close second. Very close, close second. We'll leave it at that. Yeah. All right. So it's this, this idea of constantly making jokes, like everything is sticky. And it's like, all right, we're just going to keep riffing. We're going to keep telling these jokes. And Maddox actually sums it up very well. It's exhausting to be around these people who are constantly telling jokes all the fucking time. It is. This podcast is exhausting.
Starting point is 00:25:54 It is. It's not fun to listen to. There's nothing real, there's nothing that sets anything up. It's just, all right, now I'm gonna tell a joke. Now I'm gonna tell a joke. Now I'm gonna tell a joke. And what's amazing is that there was a study done
Starting point is 00:26:06 about these people who just feel a need to always be joking and sticky. Did you see this last week? The pun article, right? The pun article saying that compulsive joking is a symptom of brain damage. And they go out of that. There was actually a real medical study done
Starting point is 00:26:24 that shows the people who feel a need to always make a joke or a pun. There's actually a disorder in their brains that forces them to do that. I believe this to be true. I believe that Bill and Bill should see a therapist. Well, Bill and Bill should see a therapist. Together, hopefully not recorded. We're gonna reach a business. Put it out. So here's another clip from their show. And again, this is just them riffing,
Starting point is 00:26:54 just trying to be funny. I'm an airline pilot. I just got to go over and buy some planes. Hold on a second. I'm a monopoly champion. I just got to roll the dice Stop rolling me. Yeah, hold on a second. I'm a fucking guitarist from for black flag. I just got to learn to play music Hold on a second. Yeah, get a lawyer who didn't pass the bar. I the fucking, I'm a barbershop guy who's never cutting a one's mustache heads. I'm sorry, I just could not help relaying this back to Chip.
Starting point is 00:27:32 This is what the Chip character is is making fun of assholes like this, who just say random ridiculous things and think it's funny and joky and interesting. Right. And you know the reason why when you're on stage at the improv theater and you get people to laugh is because they're uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:27:49 It's all uncomfortable after. Right. No one's actually thinking that it's funny when you say, I killed a dog when I was two. Well, now, no one's laughing at that. No, and I have gone and seen some improv in my day. I've seen local improv, which was hard to watch. And then I've also seen like a CTV.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Yeah. And that was actually quite funny. But I don't know if it's because everybody in the room was having a good time or if the people had talent. That's possible. It's possible. They're actually talented. There can be good improv.
Starting point is 00:28:23 I just don't think that this is it. What? It's definitely not it. There can be good improv. I just don't think that this is it. Well, it's definitely not it because when they do the Bill Nye show, they start off with some some goofs and it just makes zero sense. Yeah, there's been a lot going on in the Bill universe, a lot of good news, a lot of bad news, a lot of bad news. For those of you who were in frozen in time after listening to our last episode, welcome, welcome back. I hope you're nicely thought after your cryo sleep. For those of you who still are recovering, remember, drink lots of fluids, take a nice, nice, nice,
Starting point is 00:29:01 see, this is the problem is that they can't let anything go. They have to try to keep improving on it or tagging it. We're going to keep tagging this joke until it's funny. Like, you know that if you're frozen in time, you got to drink a lot of fluids to get back. Oh, okay. Well, they're tenacious. They are tenacious.
Starting point is 00:29:17 They're a couple tenacious D's. Here is an example of them cracking themselves up. Rachel was in a couple like Japanese, like clothing commercials when she was a child. Really? Yeah, but other than that, that's the most famous person I know. Look, Bran. Uh, whoop thai on. I will probably be actually cracking themselves up because they're trying to play this else straight and they think that they're saying all this funny shit
Starting point is 00:29:45 And then someone will say someone that actually makes them laugh They'll go and don't whoops what we broke. It's too funny. Yeah I have a clip. It's just more great improv. It's a track six. Oh Okay, yeah, I think I have a similar clips just based on how you titled this What world is Clinton the first name? Uh, Clinton. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:06 So I think I have the setup for this. They're talking about Paul Ryan for some reason. This is how they set this up. Now, Bill, does to get into politics, do you have to always have two first names? Like Paul Ryan, Bill Clinton. And what world is Clinton the first name? Uh, Clinton the first name. And what world is Clinton the first name?
Starting point is 00:30:31 And here they go. Here comes the jokes. And what world is Clinton the first name? Uh, Clinton the first name. What Clinton do you know? I know three Clinton. Oh, real? What are their last names?
Starting point is 00:30:42 Jackson Johnson and Johanisburg You know Clinton Johanisburg bullshit. Yeah, bullshit. I'm going bullshit right now Look at my Facebook I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna check it out right now. I'm gonna look at your Facebook fucking right now Now you know Clinton Johanisburg. Yeah, I know Clinton Johanisburg. Okay. How do you know Clinton, Joe Hanna's bird. Okay, how do you know Clinton, Joe Hanna's bird? He takes classes down at the Y. Ha, ha, ha, ha. I believe it.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I believe he's looking that up. Yeah, because that's how you go on the Facebook by pounding on your keyboard tenaciously. Yeah. It makes perfect sense. This, I mean, I didn't even know how to explain this anymore. It's just all so bad. I know. I was actually sort of dreading explain this anymore. It's just all so bad. I know.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I was actually sort of dreading this. Me too. This is a tough one. It's really hard. It's hard to even make jokes about their jokes because they're not really, I don't know. And the problem is, the problem is that I think that they think it's gonna be good
Starting point is 00:31:41 and they probably are expecting, because you know, we did get tipped off by a buddy to do this show so they're expecting that we're gonna come on here and be like we listen to a lot of bad podcasts but this is not one of them these guys are hilarious and that's the sad thing is that we're not trying to just shit on everything for the sake of shitting on things it is funnier when you shit on things but when there are good podcasts, like my dad wrote a porno,
Starting point is 00:32:08 or some of the other podcasts that we reviewed that we actually enjoy, we'll say so, this is garbage. This is just fucking nonsense garbage. It's just a waste of everybody's time. It's the worst kind of garbage though, because I love a bad movie. I love a bad podcast. This was just sort of so
Starting point is 00:32:27 Well, I love chip chipper sin Which is this is here's the thing Jim Norton is one of the funniest comedians you'll ever see to stand up to amazing You know that he's a very funny guy So when he plays a guy like these people who thinks he's funny, isn't. It's funny because you know he's funny. You can't go directly to the guy who thinks he's funny guy. If you're not funny to begin with, it doesn't work that way. Right. And that's what these guys are doing. They're like, we know this isn't funny, but it's actually funny because it's so not funny. No, it's just not funny. This is a tough one. It's not me it's not me feeling nothing. I felt nothing. I felt void.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Well, I didn't feel angry. I didn't feel happy. Here's another, here's another setup. And this is them talking to Bill Clinton. Yes. If you were the president right now, how would you fix all our problems? OK. You were the president.
Starting point is 00:33:20 How would you fix all our problems? So because these guys are brilliant at improv. Here we We go is this still off the record of course of course Fuzz it we got to build the wall that Mexico wall the Canadian wall Canadian wall whoa, I didn't even think about that. Hold on. Why do we want to keep the Canadians out? We're not trying to keep the Canadians out. We're trying to keep Americans in. Amp so elutely.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Fucking Yoma never gets old. Oh, shit, you. Damn. All right. Oh, man. So how are we going to fix America? We're going to build a wall, the Canadian wall. And then they're like, oh, yeah, okay, sure.
Starting point is 00:34:02 But then listen to this, and I apologize, Jen. This goes on and on and on. But this is what sums up this show. And I dare you to find this entertaining or interesting. Oh, shit. Because life Canada is too good. Right, because we all know that Canada's had a really bad immigration problem with all the people from the United States that are moving there.
Starting point is 00:34:24 And fucking, their real estate prices are going to go through the fucking roof. Astronomical. All right, let's keep it going, guys. So what do we gain by keeping citizens of this country here in this country? Well, when we're going to build the wall, we're going to have jobs. There we go. Just to build it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Yeah. Once you build the wall, you know, just build it and leave it. You've what's the cause of the wild sure? So once you build the wall You know just build it and leave it You've got to maintain the wall sure. You got to guard the wall Mm-hmm. It's got occasionally repaint the wall. Why don't you need less people though after like the initial Need a lot. We're gonna need a lot. What if we did we could probably just keep perpetually building the wall higher and higher Right, so say we finished the wall, right? And then we just were like, okay, some smart Alec is gonna figure out how to, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:10 pull vault over this thing. That is concern. Then it reminds us of building a second wall on top of that wall. Pull vault hurts are concern of yours. Pull vaults are a big concern of yours. I don't know if you've watched the Olympics, this most recent Olympics.
Starting point is 00:35:23 The ones down in Rio. I've never seen a sport. Right, let's go and move on from that. Uh, holy shit. They just, they can't stop themselves. No. It's like a compulsion. Yeah, we'll build a wall.
Starting point is 00:35:36 Oh, yeah, and then what's that gonna do? Well, it'll get jobs. Okay, but then we won't have any jobs. What's the walls, but we'll keep building the wall. Oh, okay, but what about polevolters? Oh, you guys know about the Olympics? Oh, yeah, I never see the Olympics. Fucking Jesus Christ, guys, stop it.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Just stop it. It's enraging. I know you said you didn't feel anything. I was enraged by this podcast because again, it's just this sticky nonsense of these people who think they're doing something that's fun and funny. Oh, they do think that. They do think that they think this is fun and funny. They have compulsive improv.
Starting point is 00:36:12 They suffer from compulsive improv. Compulsive improv disease people. Jenny, have any more clips that you want to play from the show? I'm pretty much out of them. Okay. Well, I have track 8. Uh, with listener, um, Pila and I, weed Daddy, each other. Whenever you hear a ding that signifies the wave. Oh, that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:36:39 So throughout the interview with Bill Clinton, that was their sound effect that they would use because all these gaps about how this is off the record. Everything you're saying is off the record. We're not gonna broadcast this. Good gag. And also the sound of that. I had the time they're whispering to each other. I couldn't hear a lot of it. So, Chad, I just, I want you to know. Yeah, tell me though. Okay, so, so check this out. Okay. Yeah, I know and it's all put in in post You can tell how many gold oh my god They put in these sound effects and things in post and I'm just picturing these Unfunny retards seen they're going hey, hey, come here check out what I'm about to do
Starting point is 00:37:18 I'm gonna put the sound effect in on this serpent fucking joke that dummy said this will make it even fought here We're just really driving this one home. Yeah All right, Jen is anything else do we want to talk about? I maybe would like to bring it back home with track nine and that's my last one all right talking about this This Rachel joke that never gets old. Do you how do you treat how do you treat your family? Like garbage for example, I don't talk to my father or my mother. They're not on my radar.
Starting point is 00:37:47 You better not be treating Rachel like garbage. Oh, I don't treat Rachel like garbage. You better not be treating Rachel like garbage. I don't, I don't, I don't think of my wife as family. Okay, I think of her as like a super girlfriend. Okay, she's like my extra girlfriend. Extra girlfriend. And I'm not, I am not really doing it.
Starting point is 00:38:04 If we can just get a cheers to extra extra girlfriends Oh my god, yeah, it's it's so in raging so yeah, that's this ongoing bit that Rachel Oh, whatever you already explained it, but I just thought you know It's it's so enraging. So yeah, that's this ongoing bit that Rachel Whatever you already explained it, but I just thought I just thought you know I want to bring it I want people to really understand how many shitty Rachel jokes I had to listen to it was in every single episode Yeah, it was it was non-stop Jen I mentioned at the top of our show here and We played a little bit of a disclaimer We've been having an interesting couple of weeks here at WATP.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Oh, I know. There is a private Facebook group with like 16,000 members of this group. And they decided that WATP is not for them, not their cup of tea. Terrific, don't listen to it. Exactly. But apparently, because we put out these podcasts, it's harming people in some way. I don't know how that's even possible. But holy shit, did we get a lot of one-star reviews at iTunes? We are now up to 74 one-star reviews.
Starting point is 00:39:19 I don't know if there's another podcast out there that's gotten 74 one-star reviews. And let me read a couple of these recent reviews that would come in. Most of the people who were sent by this Facebook group, I'm sure they, it's a closed group. I haven't seen any of the messaging, but I assume that I actually got an anonymous email from someone just saying, hey, heads up.
Starting point is 00:39:41 They're going after you. It's a private group. These guys are A-holes. Watch out. So I- Are they sending a lynch mob? I guess. I mean, I wouldn't have even known this was going out
Starting point is 00:39:51 if I hadn't got the tip off, but it's interesting because most of the people can't be bothered with actually listening to our show or understanding what it's about or what we're trying to accomplish here. They just went on and hit one star. Who cares if they carried out? Do or don't like it, then don't listen to it. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:40:07 Exactly. Currently a free country. All right. So here is a review from January 7th. It's Yikes one star. I thought they'd be making fun of podcasters. Instead, it mostly was two bros making fun of a missing woman, making fun of her weight, making fun of her autism, actually mocking and making fun of a missing woman, making fun of her weight, making fun of her
Starting point is 00:40:25 autism, actually mocking and making fun of parents who are desperately looking for their daughter, it was gross. Now I want to point out that we didn't really like that podcast very much. However, this is our 90th episode or something like that. In every single other episode we've done, we don't make fun of any missing people or autism. They were totally wanted to do it because they were talking about that on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:40:53 We review the podcast. Here's another one, Sarah review called, Ironic. Ironic that your terrible podcast critiques others. You need a new hobby, zero comedy. That might be true today, man. I'm feeling like there is zero comedy going on. I'm with you, I'm that one. Another one from January 6th,
Starting point is 00:41:14 Trashy and Dis-Tasteful, what a waste of podcast space. They apparently can't come up with any original content, so they spend every episode trashing the hard work of someone who can. I'll never give this another listen. I mean, it would be different if the hosts themselves were actually funny. That's a peridol.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Because at first you're just like, well, these people are trashing other people's podcasts, they're hard work, that's fucked up. And then they say, actually, I would like it if these people were actually interesting the list of two. I was like, if these people were actually interested to listen to. Oh, it's like, ah, you motherfucker. Ah, you got me. Uh, what's, what's interesting though? And you know, we had Doug on here last week from who's right? And I was talking to Doug a little bit before and after we recorded our podcast.
Starting point is 00:41:54 And the same thing is said to me by a lot of people who first hosted this show. The amount of work that goes into this, it's not fun. It's not fun. Work to listen to shit awful podcasts. Pull all these this, it's not fun. It's not fun work to listen to shit-offal podcasts, pull all these clips, write notes about it, try to figure out like you were saying, like what's my angle, what am I gonna talk about with this podcast? It's just garbage, what do I say to try to explain to people what we listen to and what it's all about?
Starting point is 00:42:19 The fact that this asshole thinks that these other podcasts are putting in hard work does it sound like those fucking shitheads that just to bill are working hard on their podcast? Did you get the sense that they were hard working improv comedians? Even if they are, it doesn't matter. I got just the opposite thought on that. I will say that we did have some people who gave us five and four star reviews who actually came over from that Facebook group.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Thankfully, there are a couple non snowflakes who came over and were like, okay, this is kind of funny. I mean, it's tough because then I get a note from our hosting company. Uh-oh. Our podcast host company got a notice from a podcast that wanted our show taken down for copyright infringement.
Starting point is 00:43:10 And thankfully our hosting company is really cool. And they said, unless you file the appropriate paperwork, we're leaving this up. It's fair use. They can take clips from other people's shows and play them. And I had a conversation with the guy at our hosting company And he's telling me about the legal ramifications and how this could end up going to court and it's fucking crazy I'm like don't these people realize that ignoring what we're doing is the best thing you could possibly do Putting it out on the internet and saying these guys are the biggest assholes in the world
Starting point is 00:43:44 They're making fun of fat autistic chicks who are missing. It only encourages people to come and check out our show. You're doing the exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish with that. So yeah, a lot of fun. A lot of fun going on over here at WATP. Someone's got to do it. Someone has to do it. As my buddy Vinnie Paulino says, we're doing God's work.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Oh, what is that? What do you say? That is what he said. All right, Jen. From the mouths of Vinnie. We talked about, what are we talking about today? I think we talked about Justin Bill. Improv.
Starting point is 00:44:20 Yep, just to Bill podcast. We talked about some recent iTunes reviews. We did. Right, right. I believe we talked about how someone was trying to get our show taken off the internet, literally taken off the internet. That's so crazy to me.
Starting point is 00:44:36 That's fucking nuts. Because I mean, that guy, that YouTube guy, that, gotten a lot of trouble for going into the suicide. Hold on a second. So what's the name Logan Paul or something like that? I don't watch it. I got an email from someone who we've been getting tons of hate mail.
Starting point is 00:44:50 I got an email from someone telling me that he used to think that was the worst person in the world. And now he thinks it's me. Like you're comparing me to this fucking guy. Oh my god. I'm just trying to fucking entertain people here. Anyway, yeah, go on. No, I was just going to say, I mean, like,
Starting point is 00:45:03 there's stuff like that that's just up there and out there in the world and they're just gonna focus in on two guys. But if you're shooting a video of dead people, that's real life. That's true in the real world. Me making goofs about a podcast that I don't enjoy, it's nothing. Right. It doesn't, it's just the internet. It doesn't mean anything. If you're getting upset about Reddit or a Facebook group, you're a fucking retard. So you know what that means, Jen.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Oh, I know. It's time for... Oh, Jesus. It's time for... It's time for... It's time for... It's easier. It's easier.
Starting point is 00:45:41 It's easier. Jen, are you familiar with this part of the show? I am very familiar with it actually. Okay, we call it next week's teaser. All right, that's the title. Do you know why we call it that? Because you're gonna give us a little tease about what next week's episode's gonna be?
Starting point is 00:45:58 That's correct. I know. And what's great about this part of the show is that if you've gotten this far, and I'd be surprised, but if you've gotten this far and I'd be surprised. But if you've gotten this far, you're probably thinking, I'm done with these guys. They, you know, just like we've been, we've been told they have the same jokes every week. They have the same insult about these shows.
Starting point is 00:46:19 You're going, all right, I'm going to unsubscribe to this. And then you hear this clip from next week's show and you you go, oh shit, I have to listen to that episode. That'll give up on it, but that episode sounds amazing. So we're just gonna tickle your balls, just with a little clip. I don't like the face you just made. I don't like you saying you're gonna tickle my balls. We're gonna tickle your balls a little bit.
Starting point is 00:46:39 All right. Okay. We're gonna just, we're just gonna hand gesture please. We're just gonna tickle. We're gonna get under the scroat. And he said that wasn't a word. We're gonna do risk a hand gesture please. We're just gonna tickle. We're gonna get under the scroat. I said that wasn't a word. We're gonna do the scroat. And we're gonna tickle the balls with a teaser.
Starting point is 00:46:53 And this is a clip from the podcast that we'll be reviewing next week. On to today's episode, Happy New Year. Happy New Year. I feel like a fake, because it's actually Christmas day when we're recording this. Well, it's interesting isn't it? Because because it's actually Christmas day when we're recording this
Starting point is 00:47:10 Well, it's interesting isn't it because for example Christmas day typically just celebrated by Christians But Christianity is not the only religion on the face of the planet. That's right So and then you've also got happy new year. Well, which new year according to which calendar? Yes Because we looked up on the internet apparently there's like 40 different calendars in use in the world today Yeah, so happy new year according to that I guess the Roman Gregorian calendar that a lot of people in the West Live by All right, this is a show called that vegan couple We'll be listening episode 23 called New Year's highss and Lows Reflections Regrets Restart from January 1, 2018.
Starting point is 00:47:49 This show was a suggestion that came over from our friend Mark. And if you remember, Mark was also on the Minimalist podcast. He apparently likes these shows where people are preaching how to live your life because they've got it all figured out and you're an asshole because you live your life differently than they do. That's not like Mark. Yeah, I think it does. So that's what we'll be reviewing next week are these Australians who live a vegan lifestyle and have the world figured out. This guy even looked up on the internet how many calendars there are.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Forty. Brainy. There's 40 calendars. I mean, I'm impressed. Who knew? So, you know, please, join us again next week because who knows, it might be the episode
Starting point is 00:48:31 where we find out once and for all, who are these podcasts? Sleep well, every pony. Party in the must-vis of Morning Radio. Hey, how to show these gold right now Right, let's go and move on from that I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it.
Starting point is 00:49:10 I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna go for it. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
