Starting point is 00:00:00 Yes! Good morning, everyone. Thank you so much for tuning in to yet another Star Trek podcast. I am joined by my two cohorts, Brad and Drew. Who? Brad? Drew, how you doing, buddy? Who are we speaking to? Who is this? Podiums? No. Who are you?
Starting point is 00:00:46 Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. If you don't know by now, I'm a cheat. But if you don't know by now, then no. Oh, I guess I mean you guys know, or at least Drew knows, but Brad, maybe not so much. Hey, you know what? This is a very popular episode of Star Trek that we're covering. We might actually get like a brand new listener or two. Right. Wade may actually tune in one of our friends, but he may not.
Starting point is 00:01:17 If we tell him that there's a marijuana involved, maybe he will. That's the space seed. Right, right. Like, hey, hey, Wayne, there was an episode called Space Sea is about space weed. Space. I'm really excited about this episode. Um, but hang on, Brad, are you even there, buddy? I'm here. I'm around. Oh, hey. How are you doing, buddy? I'm tired. This is what happens when you have a baby. It's, you're tired.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Oh, God, I wonder how many times, because I'm going to hear you say I'm tired because of baby for the next how many years. Probably 18. At least 18. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go with 18 No, my wife goes me the day. She's like Why why did I do this? Why why did we have a baby? I am going to be tired for the next 18 years
Starting point is 00:02:18 And I'm like sweetheart. Well, it was your idea. So you have you only yourself to play It was your idea. So you have only yourself to play. Um, right. Strapping truth bombs over here. Yeah. I mean, that's, uh, you guys like jazz had the baby. I don't know if you can say all those truth bombs. No, you could just return a man. Like, this is like game art, right? You know, you, you have it out of the package already.
Starting point is 00:02:42 You're like, ah, you know what? I think I'm good. I'm going to give it back. Tell me you're in're like, ah, you know what? I think I'm good. I'm gonna give it back. Tell me you're in your 30s without telling your 30s. Geez. Well, hey, you know what man? I'm I'm getting there like next year's the 4-0 for me, so Is it really? Yeah, so yeah, you could have probably dropped a Caldor reference and oh It's two man like I went to go at Caldor's all the time when I was a kid Brad Lee's Yep, that's who yeah shit, man. I'm old. Yeah, I'll be 40 next year as well Brad
Starting point is 00:03:17 All right, yeah, so I don't know how old I am actually I think I'll be 30 something. Yeah, you're what 37? I don't know. I don't know how old I am actually. I think I'll be 30 something. Yeah. You're what, 37? I don't know. I don't know. I have to do the math on this one. Well, I told you guys before, I don't know if I told listeners, my wife. She would go to me and she would purposely make me one year older than I actually was.
Starting point is 00:03:39 She was like, oh, you're 39. I was like, no, I'm 38, sweetheart. Eventually got to a point where I completely forgot how old I was and I had to actually start looking at the year to determine, am I actually this age? No, you lied. Sorry. This sounds like all of part of her master plan
Starting point is 00:03:56 to give you dementia. Well, I mean, she's on the right track. This week, guys, has been very busy. For me, I'm not sure if you guys have had the same level of stress this week. Did I have... What's going on? So the other night at 1130, we hear this loud crash and we're like, okay, cool. So something happened on the
Starting point is 00:04:25 parkway, which is less than a mile from us. And nothing, I thought it was thunder, nothing. I said, oh, God, maybe what if something fell on my gazebo? Because that's, yeah, you just built that. Yeah, we look outside and the pool is been collapsed. It's not a, you know, expensive pool. It's an index, index, give us money. Um, give us a new pool. Give us a new pool. Give us money. Give us some, yes, give us money. So we look outside, it's it's collapsed. So we, I'm like, Oh, all right, cool. I blame my wife because she laid out too much water and it was too windy. And we get outside. And there's a giant burned tree on the pool if that we had a fire that spread from the parkway through the woods to our backyard in the
Starting point is 00:05:14 summer. Fire Department came out there like hey yeah that tree is gonna be fine even though it looks burned the inside is solid. Yeah, about those jerks those jerks and they and they also said to us even if it falls, it'll fall the other way. It'll fall into the woods. Gosh, I don't trust the fire department. Come on. Apparently not. They're not lumberjacks.
Starting point is 00:05:40 How big is how big was this tree? Um, I could have dare to put my backyard? Brad, I'm sorry, you haven't. But there's been, there's maybe about 15 feet from the fence to where the pool is. And it probably, the trees probably about 17 feet. And it's 24 inches thick. Did they like destroy your fence? It fell in a part of the lawn that we didn't put up a fence yet, thank God.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Yeah. So that's that's luck. Yeah. So I'm going to play lumberjack today. I get I unfortunately have to skip the gym because, you know, I have no choice. But you'll still be getting to work out though. I'm not using an X. I'm using a chainsaw.
Starting point is 00:06:33 A chainsaw makes it easier, but you're still going to have to lift the wood that you're cutting. Sorry. So you'll be feeling it. You'll be feeling it. You'll be feeling it. This is not a bad thing though. I'm just glad that they didn't fall in your house though, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that would suck.
Starting point is 00:06:53 With all the repairs and remodeling that we've done. Yeah, so we're going to have to look into investing and getting these trees taken care of. Yeah, I don't want to say I hate trees, but Trees down Other people spoke them other other trees that are burned around your house No, there was only one like this the fire actually shot up this one tree That's crazy Yeah, I'll send you guys pictures later. I'll maybe throw it on Twitter as well
Starting point is 00:07:24 Well, if you have any fire, would you look and get rid of let me know because you don't have like an actual fire pit You have the propane thing, right? I do so That I guess that brings us to the next point like what am I gonna do in that area? Well, I'm gonna get rid of the pool You know, I didn't the pools too much maintenance. Yeah, but um, I'm probably just gonna build a patio area with a fire pit built in. Okay. So, you know, I have wood. I have wood for days. I used that wood for the fire. We're such five year olds. I mean, it's 750 in the morning Brad. Like, what else do you expect? Well, I mean, wherever Brad is, is a a different time, it's probably earlier for bread. Yeah, it's 7.50 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:08:08 I mean, for YouTube. Yes. Well, time's on your own. He's saying, I know, Lanta, I'm just the furthest you could go, like, it feels to the time zone. So it's a little darker where I'm at. Oh, you can't say that.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Here we go with breads on bridal braces again. You can't say that, Brad. Oh, man. You're like taking it to so many ways, and it's actually true. Whoa. All right. Look, you know what? We're going to power food this one.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I mean, you technically are the lighter side of the area. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Drew. stop, stop, stop. Drew, how was your week, buddy? Exhausting. I'm always tired, too, and I don't have a baby. So I think that just speaks volumes about being an adult in 2022.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Yeah. You know, like me, I see why my father would just like take naps. Yeah, seriously. You need them just to function. I've been... So we had... I feel like I just haven't had a day off until yesterday, like, truly. Even though I've had days off, I've just had so much stuff going on. We had Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago, and there was a lot going on with that. I had my car at the mechanic for literally an entire day, so a bunch of stuff that I needed to get done.
Starting point is 00:09:36 I wasn't able to get done because I was at my parents for a little while and then I was at the mechanic for another couple hours waiting. And then this past weekend, we threw the 70th birthday party for my mother-in-law out on Long Island. It's been kind of stressful on my wife trying to get everything together for that because you know they rented a hall, they got a catered and everything, it was a surprise party. So it was a big deal. And well I didn't have a ton of involvement in it. I kind of like absorbed a lot of her stress.
Starting point is 00:10:10 So that was part of it. And then we spent a couple nights out on Long Island too. So driving out there is stressful, staying in an uncomfortable hotel for two nights is stressful, driving back is stressful. And then I worked 10 hour days. and the days that I'm working, I really can't do anything at all. By the way, Metro just busted in the locked door. Hey, buddy.
Starting point is 00:10:34 He, like, compresses body and go on in the door. He must have. Now, I have like a, like, the door to my office doesn't close fully. So I usually put like a door stopper at the bottom of it and just kind of wedge it shut and Metro just forces way through that. So we might get an appearance by him later. No closed doors, buddy. Yeah. Yeah. Seriously. It's true. Um, well, I'm happy you guys made it through the week, Brad, especially you, because I don't know what I do without your
Starting point is 00:11:08 You know negativity towards my comments You know, I'm here to basically support you then kick you down, right? I mean that sums up our friendship, right? That's basically resistance trading except you know Except emotional It's emotional. Hey guys, can we just appreciate that we are... ...how many episodes into this season with the 22nd episode of TOS? And we have gotten to a big one. We got into Space Seed. This is the one that Drew was like, look, just hang on buddy. There would be some stinkers out there. It's got Space Seed coming up and it lived up to my expectations.
Starting point is 00:12:03 lived up to my expectations. I cannot wait for you to watch Star Trek to the Wrath of Khan. Like, there is a part of me after watching Space Seed that wants to just skip everything else and go straight to that. I thought about that last night. I said, my God, this sets up the events in wrath of Kong, right? It has to. It does. But I mean, we'll get into that
Starting point is 00:12:31 part. Yeah, we'll get into that part. I love this episode, you know, begin to end. I guess suits nuts. I would have been crushed, like, absolutely devastated. if you're like yeah this episode sucked Two out of 10 I would try again. Can we try again? Yeah, I hate it this episode so much I don't I don't think you'll get the reference yet. Yeah, who doesn't get the reference is literally William Shatton or Yelling into I guess a microphone Actually, yeah, actually yeah, technically That's going on Twitter by the way just you scream in my name
Starting point is 00:13:21 phrasing I'm like, crazy. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. You know, I wonder, I wonder drew what your wife thinks sometimes like, well, you just randomly
Starting point is 00:13:34 screaming, Majid's name in a closed door. I mean, she gets it. She gets it. She's met me. She has. And she's seeing you fondle me like within 30 seconds of showing up at my house. Hey, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, fondle is the wrong word you're going for. Group. Group.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Corress. I think caress is probably the best word to use caress. Corress is a little bit more sexfully. Yes. I feel I feel like we're going down this rabbit hole guys. I have to defend myself, Brad. Hey, Mr. Hose, let's keep us on track, your buddy. Keep it rolling. All right. I caress on a massage. True, that's it. Correction massage gets summer easy. He's like, I gotta get I gotta get my last word in. I gotta get it. I gotta do it. All right, so on this episode, the Enterprise finds a derelict ship called the SS Botany Bay Drift in space.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Kirk McCoy, Montgomery Scott, by the way, I love Scott. And McGiver, Lieutenant McGiver, be my board over to the freighter. The board and party finds a cargo of 84 humans, 72 of which are still alive and suspend the ammunition animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation animation years. So I guess the 1990s, right? That would that would be the timeframe. Yeah. And 12 of those 84 humans, or at the time, they didn't know there was genetically enhanced, but 24 or 12 of those passed away, they died. Maghiver, identify a group's leader, who begins to revive and it's taken back to the enterprise
Starting point is 00:15:26 for a medical exam. Well, no, I thought the ship kind of automatically started to revive Khan on its own. I thought that they started to raise his beats per minute, like his heart rate. Well, no, I thought that that was a part of the ship. That was part of the ship. Yeah, that was a part of the ship. That was part of the ship? Yeah, that was a part of the ship. Yeah, the ship automatically detected that something
Starting point is 00:15:47 and they explained that the reason why he's doing is probably because he's the leader. Mm, okay. See, I did pay attention, maybe. You're like, shh, baby, baby. Watch this. That's actually a legitimate thing I was doing. I was like, hey, sweetheart, I'm trying to watch this show. Please be quiet. Maybe look it's Ricardo Montabon in a silk shirt
Starting point is 00:16:13 So Kirk has to botany bay taken until by attractive Which I don't know I listen I have to have a whole other discussion with you guys about track the beams and just reverse some polarity on stuff. But we'll talk about that at a different time. Okay. So the enterprise sets course for star base 12. In sick bay, the group's leader of Wacans and introduced himself as Khan, Magyver, Marvel's over Khan, which, you know, why wouldn't she? Guys, a free and specific. He had bicep veins, even for bicep veins, for a thing. Yeah. Dude is jacked.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yeah, he looked better shirtless than Kirk did. Yeah, totally. And they took full advantage of that. I think just by us with these comments, we've reached the only demographic. Yeah. But, let's need to hear no there. So while MacGyver is marvelling over Khan who is just a specimen from the 20th century
Starting point is 00:17:12 She is actually a Expert in all things 20th century and I said I am too I am too. I know stuff about the 20th century two. I am two. I know stuff about the 20th century. I should hope you know. Yeah. Gee, tell us some of the things you know about the 20th century. So the attitude era of the WWE brought us the rock stone cold triple H, D12, sorry, DX. D12. D12 was a... That sounds like a...
Starting point is 00:17:49 That sounds like a vitamin. No, stop that. It probably is, but no, stop that. D12 is a rap group that haven't ever formed. But that's all I know about the 90s. So maybe I'm not the expert. Bad voice came out in the 90s. So maybe I'm not the expert. Bad voice came out in the 90s. I mean, it sounds like you got pretty much covered. Bush was a president and a band. Two for one
Starting point is 00:18:16 deal. You get two fish. You get two. We're big. Good band. They had some heads. Yeah. I enjoyed them. You know, have you heard of the group, Bush? I've heard of Hoobistank. That was not a good band. Well, close enough though. Is Bush better than Creed? I would say so. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I guess who isn't better than Creed, right? Well, Creed isn't around anymore. Bush still is, so that helps. Bush is also a beer, is it? It is, spelled differently. So we got three-foot-one deal. Yeah. All right, so Spock discovers that their guest is actually Conn Nunean Singh, who along with his people are products of the 20th century selective breeding designs create perfect humans called the eugenics. Right? Am I right about this? Yeah, so they start talking about like the eugenics wars and basically the gist is, you know, they use genetic modifications and selective breeding to create humans that are stronger and better in every possible way.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yeah. I wish that was a real thing. It's called steroids. I would. So there technically is a school of thought that is very frowned upon called eugenics. Yeah, and it actually did spark a World War. Yeah. So I mean, I mean, yes, technically, yeah, World War two, like, just kind of what Germany was trying to do. Oh, right, the perfect human, right. Blond hair, blue, white. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So this is like the next level of that.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Man, I didn't know that. Thank you, Brett. I will remove one of your historic Demerats. Thank you. I appreciate that historic. Um, Merit's nice. Yeah, he has a he has a crap ton of Demerats. How about these? Um, so in the 90s, these superhumans became tyrants and conquered more than a third of the planets, due to the use of a horse. However, Khan is admired by the command crew, all but Spock. Spock is like, no, I don't trust this guy.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Khan is suave as all hell. He had me fooled. I got the vibe though that Kirk really wasn't buying it either. Yeah. Kirk was like, I don't trust the long flowing locks. I don't trust that he's able to seduce my, my crew. Kirk felt threatened. Yeah. Kirk's like, this guy looks better without a shirt than I do. Yeah. Right. Also, I mean, this guy looks better without a shirt than I do. Yep. Right. Also, I mean, Khan was peacocked a bit. Oh, yeah. You guys know a peacock. And he was totally big dog and Kirk. Yeah. Totally. So, Khan has admired, um, bio of a crew except the Spock. And that way was, bio measures, uh, Khan was, was a, I guess he was selling himself
Starting point is 00:21:26 as a benevolent dictator, but with no maskers under his rule, no war until he was attacked. And he had a great vision to unite humanity. But this sounds familiar. Now that we brought it up, like I didn't pick up on it while we were watching the episode, while I was watching the episode,
Starting point is 00:21:44 but now that you brought it up, Brad,'t pick up on it while we were watching the episode, while I was watching the episode, but now that you brought it up, Brad, like I can't unhear it. Oh man, you didn't kinda catch that, like as the episode was rolling. I didn't. No, I was too enamored by his pecs. Yeah. It wasn't his pecs, it was his arms.
Starting point is 00:22:01 I think the thing that kind of got for me is like, during the episode, they mentioned like the eugenics war started in the 90s and it was like, thinking about that. It just got my head turning and it was like, oh, cool. Well, I guess it's technically, you know, already happened.
Starting point is 00:22:16 So, you know, World War III is past and then I started thinking about World War II and it just kind of cascaded from there. Right. I'm actually surprised that Kirk didn't come out in like one of his, you know, deep V shirts to talk to Khan. When he asked Khan about, you know, like, all those deep Vs were for Khan itself.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Like if you remember, like he had, like it was full on, I gotta show my chest off. Look how smooth this puppy is. Assuming that there's actually a machine that is replicating clothing on the ship, imagine Con saying, no, no, no, no, no, a deeper V. No, that's that's pretty much it. It's like, it's got to be down to the naval. Yeah, yeah, a deeper V silk, silk, please, and some embroidering around stitching there. To your point, Majid, like if they have like clothing replication machine,
Starting point is 00:23:14 why the hell are they giving everybody star-fleet uniforms? No, no, how about this, man? If there is cloning replication, why the hell is Kirk Shirt getting ripped the same damage I place every single time? Hahaha. By the way, when we get to it, they had a fight, Con, right? Con and Kirk. I mean, if you saw the episode,
Starting point is 00:23:38 it's not even good spoiler, but it's me jumping ahead. Kirk Shirt didn't get ripped, and I wonder if it's because he didn't want to just be bare chested directly across from. I think I figured it out. The Starfleet uniform is designed in a way to protect the crew members, right? And so it's supposed to protect from heat, from cold, all that bullshit, but what it
Starting point is 00:24:01 also supposed to do is prevent like strangulation and Make sure your clothes doesn't kill you randomly by getting pulled so therefore it just easily rips off Like shipper pants pretty much. Yeah, you know what I'll allow it Like like like like Brad is saying that all I'm picturing is the trailer for Magic Mike where it's chanting Tatum He just like riffs his pants off on stage God that's gonna be that's gonna be fun. Speaking of Tatum, like I saw him in the movie the other day bullet train That that is yeah, yeah, he's in it. He's in it. He's in there. Yeah I don't think I saw it. I He's in it. He's in there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:45 I don't think I saw that. I don't remember him in there. No, no, you question. You know what? I can see why. No, I don't remember him being there. But I feel like that's also a spoiler for that movie. Because there were other cameos in that movie.
Starting point is 00:25:20 So Khan asks, sorry, Kurt asks Khan, why he left Earth when he was seemingly needed the most. And Khan responds that the supercumence were offered, no, the supercumence offered world order, but they were ultimately refused. I'm sorry, they offered what? They offered the world order, but we're refused. Okay, I thought you said world war, and I was like, nobody wants world war. Well, they did. I mean, apparently, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:44 I mean, look, so that's's that's the way it is. It's a wine world war, but it's as in world order. I mean, you can't have peace without war, right? Brad, you know that. I'll go with it. I mean, that's probably not true. I don't I don't don't call me on this quote me on this, but don't call me on it. Quote me, don't call me. So, was that drip? Quote me, don't quote me, quote me but don't quote me on it. Quot me, don't quote me. So, was that true? Quot me, don't quote me, quote me. Don't quote me.
Starting point is 00:26:09 So, Khan is placed on the guard in quarters. McGiver, but by the way, I'm sorry, it's McGiver's, right? McGiver's, yeah. But they pronounce it McGiver? I think they pronounce it McGiver's, but it sounds like McGiver's. Okay, so it's actually Lieutenant Marria, sorry, Lieutenant Marla Givers,
Starting point is 00:26:29 who's the historian of the ship, she knows most about the 90s, but McIvers is set to brief him, brief Khan on current events, take an advantage of McIvers attraction towards him. Khan's house, they hit me to find a planet willing to be led by him, and needs her help to take over the enterprise Plot twist
Starting point is 00:26:49 Not sure if anyway. I saw that plot twist. Yo, she was like Infaturated with him so hard for yeah, yeah, like wick Yeah, I had to be the hair And the accent it's it's the smooth chess man. You just got to shave it and the accent. It's the smooth chest, man. You just got to shave it and that's what does all the women. You know, it like, not naturally hairless on my chest. In my head, Canon, in addition to just being stronger
Starting point is 00:27:16 and faster, he also have sexy pharaohmones that are just like impossible for her to resist. Me must, it's called must. Sure, must or must. I thought. Me must. It's called must. Sure. Must or must. I thought it was must. Maybe must. But you can't say must could I think it I Elon.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Yeah, he ruined that word. So I just think of increment now. We're talking the sex Panther Clone. Sex Panther by Odeon. Yeah. St, I said at a time all the time. Yeah So taking advantage of McGuiver's attraction towards him. Con sells her that he means to find a plan and will need to be led by him and Needs her health taking over the enterprise. So reluctantly she agrees beaming Con to the botany bay where he revives the rest of his people
Starting point is 00:28:04 She agrees, beaming Khan to the botany bay where he revives the rest of his people They return to the enterprise and take control of the ship but cannot navigate it because why would they be able to right? He's supposed to have read like the instruction manual. Yeah, he read all the technical manuals and sick back Hey, here's the thing you read the instruction manuals for your car. Do you know how to drive your car? Of course. Yes. We're going to we're going to we're going to have to question your licenses. The instruction manual doesn't teach you how to drive. It teaches you how to like operate the vehicle. Yeah, but I mean, I feel like you can also just if if you wanted to, if Con knew, he can just go to the command share, press a few buttons and it kills the rest of the enterprise.
Starting point is 00:28:51 He could've done that. He could've just ejected them from these. That's canon. That's canon now. Yeah. There's a red button that kills everyone. So Con can navigate the ship. So Khan throws Kirk into a decompression chamber and threatens to slowly suffocate all of them, unless at least one of Kirk's crew
Starting point is 00:29:14 agrees to help him. Promising to treat them well if they join and saying that improving men is better than improving machines. Look, I've seen AI programs, it's dumb. Proof machine, that improved man later. But not a single crew member agrees to help Khan and he's dumbfounded. Having changed our McGiver's freeze Kirk from the chamber, Kirk and Spock vents an aesthetic gas throughout the entire ship to disabled Connors people. Conn escapes the gas and goes into engineering where he attempts to
Starting point is 00:29:48 destroy the enterprise but Kirk confronts him. And now we have a big fight scene. That engineering room by the way just built for fighting. Yeah, just built for fighting. It has like this giant, like the Amazon just put up like a boxing ring in there at this point because like, you have this huge open area surrounded by panels, you know, like. Yeah, if they would have had wrestling ropes,
Starting point is 00:30:13 yeah, where you just see curaches, because he keeps runs across the room. He does. He runs across the room. Parkhors off the wall and just try, he tries to spin kick him. Oh, God, what a fight. I want to get into that. But so Kirk holds a hearing after beating Con Kirk holds a hearing to decide
Starting point is 00:30:34 the fate of Conn and his people. Kirk drops all the charges and he sentenced Conn and his people to a penal colony. Oh, sorry, he thinks that setting Conn and his people to a penal colony. Sorry, he thinks that setting Kant and his people to a penal colony would be a waste of time. So he offers Kant a choice, either join modern society as a commoner or settle in a rule setty-alf of five, an uninhabited fertile world that he describes as no worse than botany bay, colony on earth. Kirk believes that would be a perfect place for Khan to quote-unquote tame. Khan accepts Kirk's offer, and instead of a core martial for McGivers, Kirk allows her to go with Khan. Spocked notes to be interested to see what Khan makes of City alpha 5 in
Starting point is 00:31:18 100 years. And that's it. That's the end of the episode. And what I feel perfectly sets up the wrath of come. Yeah. I mean, it's it's it's amazing because like we know that there's a movie, but obviously and you know, when this was made, they they never anticipated that they would have a movie at that point, I don't believe. I mean, I don't think that was even in the conversation. I think they were smart enough to leave Khan's story open ended. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:55 I mean, like in reality, if they had never gotten back to that, and just this is where the story ended, I think this is still go down as one of the greats this episode. So this this episode aired in 1967 the wrath of Khan was released in 1982. Right. I think it's safe to say like between the 15 years that was like not even a real thought. Well, I mean, they didn't even start thinking about movies until Star Trek had been long off the air and there started being a letter writing campaign to get it back.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Mm-hmm. You know, and that's where the motion picture came from. How many years was it between the events of Space Sea and the Wrath of Con? You guys know? I can find out. 15. Is that canonical or what I mean says first aired in 1967? Well, no, I understand that like, no, just the events though. Oh, the events between it.
Starting point is 00:33:01 That's like, that's a good question. Yeah, because I mean, you know, Spock had just paid it. It would be a hundred years to see what he would do. And if it was like 20, that's pretty damn impressive. Rath of Khan. Stardey is 2285, 2267. Yeah, so about almost 20 years. Yeah, you know. That's so bad.
Starting point is 00:33:25 So almost 20 years. Yeah. You know, it's, it's funny. Dura, I know we're not really here to talk about the movie, but like, I, I think about Rath or Khan and I think about Space seed. When if you look at the age difference between, uh, Khan is like like you can clearly tell 20 years like past for the actor because he's older he's not like the savvy you know so suave type of actor but everybody else who report of unarm is still young. Yeah who's that Khan? Yeah yeah, like so so basically his his group of super men and women like they're all
Starting point is 00:34:07 perfectly sexy individuals Yeah, he's the only one that aged Yeah, but I that's her to mature ruthless bastard though, right? I think so I think he looked way he looked rugged and I've never seen wrathath of Con but this nice. He was so like I really can't I really Can't talk about Rath of Con too much without spoiling things for you Mijid But like there's there's so much points of discussion here that I I really wish like You'd seen the movie so then you can have like the
Starting point is 00:34:43 Some some of some of the same appreciations that Drew and I have. But it's a, this episode had had a lot of good points to it and it helped build up the movie even more so. So while I haven't seen Rathacad, I have seen Shrine of the Worlds. And there is a character, okay, what is her name? Christina Chong? What is your play? Lahn. Lahn. Lahn. Lahn. Luminancing. And she makes references to her genetic line. How
Starting point is 00:35:18 does that fit in canonically? I mean so far not too much. Like they didn't really do a lot with that. Yeah, it's really just been like a small little easter egg, and I think I expect season two may have a little more. Okay, so in strange in the world, Connor still locked up in space on the botany base and where. Well, he's, I wouldn't say locked up, but yeah. Well, yeah, he's in cryogenic sleep. So I think the implication with Lawns character is that she is a descendant through, you know, centuries of, or generations rather than like,
Starting point is 00:35:58 is that like Conn, like got out of the cryogenic sleep and then had a baby and then went back to sleep or anything like that, you know. I mean, it's something he could do because he's that damn swath. He is. Like, I'm pretty sure McGibbon's got pregnant just looking at him. But I almost got pregnant with him. Yeah. Yeah. True story. But wow, Brad is Brad is comfortable.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Brad is contemplating that comment. Brad, imagine if your baby was a genetic superhuman. Brad's baby is a genetic superhuman. if your baby was a genetic superhuman. Brad's baby is a genetic superhuman. I think I agree with Majeed on this one. Yeah. Listen, Brad, one day your baby is going to punch you in the face. It's not going to be on purpose.
Starting point is 00:36:41 It's going to be accidental. Dude, she's already kicking me in the nuts right now So Oh, she's like hey you want to change me? Sure. Here's a kick Right, she's like it's trying to difficulty up to 10 Every time I try to give her a bath. She's like hey, I'm gonna go for a bath. Sure. You're gonna get a kick in the nuts Yeah, it's like me trying to give Kaila a bath and I get a bath along with him because he isn't like it. Um damn. So I have more of a appreciation now by the way
Starting point is 00:37:13 for changing the worlds. I already have a crush on on on my hun. Hmm Christina Jong. Yeah, she's great. Her Twitter is fantastic. Just it's so joyful. Yeah, so one other thing to imagine. I don't think we really talk about it too much, but there are other references to like the eugenic stuff later down the road in Star Trek. I don't think they touch too much on it and TNG or like the deep space nine Voyager, but they do talk about it a lot more in Enterprise. And they do actually have like a few story arcs. So if like you want to like learn more, I would say you could probably even watch
Starting point is 00:37:53 some of those episodes and it really gets more like in-depth type of stuff, but it's definitely a lot of history behind this in the Star Trek series. It's definitely a lot of history behind this in the Star Trek series. I think that the route that you've taken me on is just right. So a sort of plowing through TOS, which by the way, we are more than halfway through the first season, which is amazing. Yeah, we have what seven episodes left?
Starting point is 00:38:27 One, two, three, four, yeah, seven episodes left of season one. You know, at this rate, we'll be doing a season a year. And so in about, I don't know, 20 something years, you'll watch all the Star Trek. We would have, we've been also, we would have been done by now if it hadn't been for the The pivot we took for shaking the worlds and and going to a biweekly schedule to and having a baby. I didn't have a baby. I had a dog Brad had a baby That must have been painful to pass through
Starting point is 00:39:03 The baby of the dog? The dog. I adopted the dog. I didn't give birth to a baby. Dog. Why? Or you know what? No, I can't believe you just stop me to say that.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Oh my God. I love this episode. Front to back. The peacock and the Ricardo Montabon. I feel like we glossed over a lot. Glossed over the scene in sick bay. Yes. When McCoy or no, Conn is just like just waking up. And like he, McCoy's there.
Starting point is 00:39:54 And let's be honest, McCoy does not give two crabs. Yeah, no, he, he was like, look, you're gonna kill me. Do it right. McCoy like woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He starts bitching about the transporter right? He jumped. And then, and then, Con holds a knife to his neck and he's like, no,
Starting point is 00:40:13 you're, you're doing it wrong. You're doing it wrong. Like, if you're gonna kill me, if you're gonna kill me, you want a slice here, because it'll be quicker. Like, you have a knife to your doctor's, and it's in the wrong place, sir. Yeah. What balls? Oh, man, Makoi has the biggest balls on the enterprise.
Starting point is 00:40:35 He's like, you think you're gonna do me a solid, just kill me, get over and done with? I'm already dead inside. He's like, have you seen this crew? I can't deal with them anymore. Right, right. I can't drink anymore. They told me I can't have any more liquor. I can't give my patients liquor.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Kill me and just kill me. Let's face it, he's probably tired of all the people. Kirk has lost over the time on board. Don't get me started. Brad, don't get me started. Listen, in my head, Canon, Kirk put Khan in a red shirt so he can kill him without remorse. That is my injury.
Starting point is 00:41:24 It means he's supposed to. to write he's cannon fodder. There was a lot of miss episode. We have to return to the Vulcan steeper holds. Drew, I know you're excited about that. Yeah. Yeah, why buddy? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:37 Yeah. Yeah. You know, like when I call the Vulcan steeper hold, I don't like it when you do a lot of things. How? You know, like when I call the focalty, bro, I don't like it when you do a lot of things. Wow. Wow. That's, that's, that's, that's tough to fair. Truth bomb.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Yeah. I feel a lot of these truth bombs going today. Well, I love this episode. I love the design of the ship. Is that what he uses in Wrath of Cond? Does he even get the keep his ship? Yeah, I believe he does. Cause I mean, he has a structure that he's living in. I, again, it's, I don't want to go too far, but I'm just thinking to that scene with,
Starting point is 00:42:20 what check off when he realizes where they're at. So I'm not sure if that's. Wait, check off was even in this episode, right? Correct. There's all kinds of loopholes with that. Yeah. Man, was it an either? Was that?
Starting point is 00:42:40 Sulu wasn't an either. Sulu wasn't an either, but check off was not like part of the cast at this point. So yeah, I just realized that and like, I don't know, I'm a little, I'm a little upset now with a surchreque. Yeah. No, that's, that's like a glaring hole in, in the timeline. And like, I don't want to dive into it too much because it starts to reveal like spoilers for the movie, but that's something that has been acknowledged. And it's just kind of been more or less written off as,
Starting point is 00:43:13 well, Sulu was on the ship, he just wasn't on the bridge. Kind of thing. Sulu was getting... Or not Sulu, check out. Team programed. Well, Sulu was getting deep programed from Landroup. That's plausible. Well, they never... They never... Well, I guess they probably, when they introduced Sulu was getting deep programs from Landroup. That's plausible. Well, they never, they never, well, they, I guess they probably,
Starting point is 00:43:27 when they introduced Sulu or not Sulu, check off, they probably just introduce them as he's already been on the ship for a while. And that that's kind of like, yeah, here's this entitlement cast member, who just happened to be in a ship, but you never saw him. Right. That's, that's the, that's the explanation that they've been using. Yeah. So guys, having seen Ricardo Maltibon, and then I'm assuming you guys have also watched the Benedict Cumberbatch performance of Cahn. Do you think that Ricardo Maltibon just did it overall better?
Starting point is 00:44:06 Oh, by far. Yeah, I mean, it's hard for an actor to take an iconic performance like that and really do it justice. And better to Cumberbatch is a tremendous actor, but I feel like the script of Into Darkness failed him more than he failed the role. Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:29 I really feel like the Calvin timeline, I don't know, it was a disjustice for the actor. Because I know that we're trying to do a big reveal and with Benedict Cumberbatch, like I love that guy as an actor, but I felt like that was like, that's an unfair situation to try to like have him fill those shoes, right? Yeah, when they were promoting the movie, sorry, you're,
Starting point is 00:44:59 when they were promoting the movie and they were like, oh, so you're playing Khan, he's like, I'm not playing Khan. Right. And they asked JJ Abrams to like, oh, so better than coming back, just playing Khan. He's like, no, Khan is not in this movie. Khan is not in this movie. Right. And the movie comes out. You're like, oh, it was Khan. You're like, ah, I got you. It was Khan all alone. Yeah. It was, you know, it was a big deal for a lot of people. I didn't see the I didn't see the hype. I didn't see the hype.
Starting point is 00:45:25 I didn't see the... Well, the thing is, is that like Cumberbatch had such big shoes to live up to. And part of what makes Star Trek 2 the wrath of Con work is this episode, right? We get to see this iconic character return. You know, think about it this way man like Ricardo Maltibon was so good that they titled a movie after his character. How often does that happen in a one-off episode where somebody comes back and has such a large role like that it's unheard of almost entirely in Star Trek. So, you know, now you have this setup
Starting point is 00:46:08 episode, you have the payoff movie. But in the Kelvin timeline, you didn't get that setup. You only had the, you had basically two hours of them establishing this character and then trying to pay it off and they just I think they packed the film with so many cute references and nods to the original that they kind of failed to make their own original you know. Oh you mean it's darkness? Yeah yeah yeah and I like it into darkness but you know it's it's certainly not without its issues. I think I've I've described this before it's certainly not without its issues. I think I've described this before.
Starting point is 00:46:46 It's the Kelvin timeline, those are good movies, but they're not Star Trek movies. I think that's an accurate statement. Yeah, I mean, I think JJ Abrams openly came out and said, oh, I'm not a really a Star Trek fan. I'm a Star Wars fan. And he made the pacing and and structure that of which a Star Wars movie would have a little little faster. And then
Starting point is 00:47:13 he went back to Star Wars and just ruined my childhood. At of the three Kelvin Timeline films, the third one is actually my favorite and that feels the most like Star Trek to me. Yeah, and it wasn't even done by him. Right. So I think, you know, that's probably why I think that kind of like furthers the point that you're making. Yeah. Who who did third one who did beyond Justin Lynn? Justin Lynn. Yeah, he he did wonders for the Fast and Furious franchise. Right. and I was nervous when they announced him, I'm like, this guy, like Fast and Furious director, really. Are they still doing a fourth one?
Starting point is 00:47:52 It's been on and off. Star Trek IV? Yeah. So Matt Shankman was supposed to direct Star Trek IV in the Calvin timeline, but he ended up getting an offer from Marvel to do the Fantastic Four movie. He got his voice confused. Was that?
Starting point is 00:48:10 He got his voice confused. Yeah, nice. Can we add one of those drum rolls in there like a boom, boom, boom. Sure. No, no promises. Just fixing the post Yeah, no, so he went on to do Fantastic four and listen there are a lot of great directors that could take on the Star Trek franchise
Starting point is 00:48:43 Just keep quitting tearing see it away from it. I don't know if I need you know shots of Zoe Tadana's feet throughout the movie Are you telling me you don't need Sh I need you know shots of Zoe Tadana's feet throughout the movie. Are you telling me you don't need shots of her feet though? I mean for the sake of the podcast I don't need shots of her feet true. What are you doing? Just trying to get clarification for the listeners. You try to get me in trouble is what you're doing buddy. I wasn't right. I don't know if you were around for this. We were talking to the other in our discord channel. And I was like, yeah, you know, I'd love to go out to Archie Morris with you true. But I'm watching Zoe Sadada eat hot wings. And he's a hot one's episode. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:49:27 Wow. Yeah. It was bad. I think it was the way I said it. I didn't expect Drew's response. You should check that discord a little more often. For our listeners out there, we have a discord. I think those are on the show, that's right, Drew? Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, come on down. We have a discord. I think those are gonna show notes, right, Drew?
Starting point is 00:49:45 Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, come on down. It's a lot of fun. We talk about video games, movies, word, or Marvel snap, Marvel snap, please give us money. I would be happy with just getting like free variance at this point.
Starting point is 00:50:02 I don't know. So I'm so far up that that games like to your system, like I'm very rarely getting anything new. I mean, it's easier for you to play that game Brad because you have the baby of one arm and the phone and the other. Yeah, pretty much. That's that's what I'm with, but with right in the rock coming out or right in the rock came out. I've been spending a lot of time on Brighton Rock. But this isn't a God of War Brighton Rock podcast, so I'll try to refocus, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:50:33 That's okay. Was there anything else about this episode you just loved other than the card of multiboss chest? I mean, there's so much I loved about this episode. I really thought that the performances were just top to bottom really well done. But I think we kind of hit all the big things, you know, yeah, especially that crowded onery behind McCoy's neck, especially that. Oh, Brad, what about you, buddy? Anything else you love that we didn't talk about yet?
Starting point is 00:51:17 No, I mean, we covered everything. I really wanted to talk about that McCoy. Yeah. That's that. That, that, like, really stood out to me when I was watching it. As soon as it happened, I'd message you guys about it. You guys watched the episode super early. Yesterday?
Starting point is 00:51:34 That was yesterday? That was yesterday. Time has lost all meaning. Yes. Time has lost all meaning. Brad, you watched it earlier. I watched it on Thursday. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:44 That was two days ago. Yes. I'm it earlier. I watch it on okay. Yeah, so I'm not two days ago Yeah, so I'm not going early early implies like less than like six hours before record. I guess Apparently, I mean to me. Yeah, it's like to me would be like hey, I'm gonna go watch your rap for this Recording yeah, yeah, I I watched an in my kitchen while we were putting away groceries. We got home from BJs at like 930. We had a crap ton of groceries to put away. So I have the volume cranked up on the TV in the kitchen and I'm just putting away groceries and you know how you when you're clearly only focused on
Starting point is 00:52:18 one of the two tasks when you're multitasking. That's me. I'm eyes locked on the TV while I'm fumbling with my hands on a counter. Just trying to watch the episode. That's how you're going to be like, oh my god, you're letting that scream out. To be clear, and to be fair, she yells at me a lot. So it's all white noise at this. Yeah, God, she listens to this podcast. I'm gonna get it. You are. Luckily, my college is comfortable. Yeah. But guys, I want to hear what your thoughts are in the ratings. So let's move on to the ratings. I'll start with Brad because it's out better quarter. Well, better quarter. Thank you. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:53:01 You know, the the one thing I was afraid of was that this was not going to live up to my expectations because it's such an iconic episode that is well known. The story is so impactful that they made a movie out of it. It was my biggest fear that I was going to watch it. And then we were like, wow, I can't believe they made a movie out of this or not of this but in reference to this and it's I am pleasantly surprised with how well the episode did there were some obvious corny cheesy parts with having the givers fall head over heels with with con which is kind of like funny in my sense but you know I'll get over that and then and I expect it higher. Oh, okay. I'll go to 8.00000.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Well, look at you. Demar. Look at you and your decimals. Demar, we don't do math on this show. We don't do pie. Anyway, hey, Drew, what about you, buddy? I mean, I had a lot of the same concerns that Debra had too. You know, like rose colored lenses and all that stuff. I think it's of the same concerns that that Brad had too, you know, like rose-colored
Starting point is 00:54:27 lenses and all that stuff, you know, I Have a very special place in my heart for Star Trek to the wrath of time, but it has been a long time since I've seen space seed and and there were scenes from this that I actually didn't even remember so I'm not entirely sure that I've seen it start to finish in one sitting. But I was looking forward to watching this episode. I wanted to see if it still lived up to the hype. And it absolutely did. And I think what I took away from this most of all
Starting point is 00:54:56 is how riveting Ricardo Maltibon's performance was. He made William Shatter look like a chump in my opinion. He outacted William Shatter look like a chump in my opinion. Yeah. He outacted William Shatter on every single level. He made you like just glued to the screen every time he was on it. And like yeah, it was a little unrealistic for McIverdon's to fall in love with him so quickly, but was it? You know, at the same time, it's like,
Starting point is 00:55:26 this guy is magnetic. And, you know, I just, I kind of feel like they could have thrown the scent on his evil intentions a little bit better because every time something with the ship, like when they first discovered the ship, you heard evil music. When they first came across all these cryopods, you heard evil music. And it was kind of forecasting it a little too heavily. I think they could have maybe dodged that and been, you know, left a little bit more to the imagination and
Starting point is 00:55:58 a little bit more to the surprise of it all. But I don't think it took away from anything. Like just top to bottom, a tremendous episode. I think it still stands to test the time. And I'm giving it a 10. I loved it. Wow. All right. That's, uh, that's good, buddy. That's blue ball set. Brad, do you want to revisit your score? No, I'm sticking with me. Like, I enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:56:30 And I don't know why I'm feeling the need to defend myself with YouTube, but well, not necessarily YouTube, but mostly Majid, because he's a very not big star track person. But I enjoyed it. I just, to me, it wasn't like the most amazing,
Starting point is 00:56:43 perfect episode I've ever seen. It just, to me, it wasn't like the most amazing, perfect episode I've ever seen. It just, it had its kinks, it had its plas, but I think it was good. I, um, I also had some concerns going into this episode because both of you hyped it up. You said there were episodes in the first season that were just gonna be worth the weight. One of them was the Birds of War episode.
Starting point is 00:57:11 Wait, stop. Birds of... Birds of... Bird of prey? Downs of terror. Balance of terror, I was close. So we had balance of terror, which was great. And they really revisited that in Shrish New terror, which was great. And they really they revisited that in strange new worlds,
Starting point is 00:57:28 which was great. There is the world of tomorrow. True, what is the cult? City on the edge forever. City on the edge forever. Which is coming up in a few weeks. Great. And we also had this one.
Starting point is 00:57:43 So I am so far with two for two, in my opinion, in terms of the episodes that you was hyped up, I would give this a nine. It's not, it's not perfect. Oh, actually, is it perfect? In my mind, what flaws that I have for this episode? I had no flaws with this episode. Crap, guys, I'm giving you the 10. What? Yeah, no, I had no flaws with this episode. I can't think of anything that I had issues with.
Starting point is 00:58:16 Wow. I mean, listen, even if you consider that McGiver, McGiver's fell in love with Khan too early. Consider her field of study. So, right? So, the other thing too, Mijid, like, um, McCoy, right? He didn't give two shits when Khan had it. And, you know, I can understand it, but that felt a little out of character where like, it felt too brave and bold for the character. I think that though this is the first time that we kind of got the voice of Makoi that
Starting point is 00:58:53 we've come to know and appreciate up to this point, right? Like I feel like this is a stepping stone in the way his character is written, you know. Because like if you think about how he acts, I mean you and I are more familiar with the movies than we are with the series as a whole. But if you think about like the things he says and does in the movies, it's more in line with this sort of attitude that he had in Spacey than it is to any episode that we've seen up to this point. That's fair. So, I'm hoping that this is just a shift in
Starting point is 00:59:27 the character and this was the first step in it. If they don't shift the character, then you are right. This is out of place and it means nothing. But if this is a change. A natural evolution. Right. Right. So to that point, I would like to change my score. to that point, I would like to change my score. Dramatic, a solid argument in that sense. I would like to change to a nine. True, did you already lock the file? Can you go back and edit it?
Starting point is 00:59:58 You know what? Screw you. I'll just go ahead and type to time myself. Well, you know what the good news is is that with, you know, due to rounding and everything that bumps space to eat up to an overall 10. So I'm here myself. Well, you know what the good news is, is that with, you know, due to rounding and everything that bumps space to eat up to an overall 10. So I'm here with it. Yeah, the, um, uh, listen, I was, I was saying before, how about McGiver is falling in love with, um, con to early, when you consider her field of study, guys,
Starting point is 01:00:18 she's a historian and she, she's literally, she's literally talking to Encino Man. She's literally talking to a man from the 20th century. She's gonna have a factuation there. You know? And then again, just the overall sexiness. So the deck was stacked against there. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 01:00:40 But yeah, no, Brad, I respect your nine, and I respect that we were able to believe you. It really was like the McCoy thing. Like, I didn't like, it just felt off, but like, to the way Drew described it, where it's the more of the evolution of the character from what we see now to what we were going to see in the movies. And that actually makes more sense, because we're going to have to, Mijie, when you watch the movies versus the show, there is a distinct difference in a lot of the characters, and you need to find a way to get to that point. And, you know, this is really, like,
Starting point is 01:01:20 the first season's really been the Kirk show. That's, yeah. That's all it really is. And you can't, it's so frustrating to watch. And we almost never really see too much of the other characters. Hell, even like bones and Spock, we don't really see so much of them. It's a like, a Shatner makes so much of a point to make sure that he's the star, that like you kind of lose sight of those those other characters. And I think I think that that is a good point where it's this is the It's like, but again, like if they don't do anything with this over the next few episodes, then, you know, that's all for not, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:02:11 Yeah, I mean also if they recorded this one before they recorded others or, you know, depending on the production order, you know, we could just see this glimpse in nothing else. According to memory alpha, this was the 25th episode produced. So they actually produced this, like, so this was released as episode number 22. But it was the 25th. So, so this is actually earlier or later in the production order. So, I mean, we'll see. We'll see how it pans out. You know, we still have seven more episodes of the season. Maybe McCoy, you know, gets balls
Starting point is 01:02:54 here as we go on. So speaking of balls here, for our listeners, for me, would you recommend that and I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be
Starting point is 01:03:16 talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to me. I'm not sure if you're going to be talking to I would say, like, if you want to watch it, we'll talk about it. But I mean, for somebody who's, who's never seen the movie, like, I absolutely would recommend
Starting point is 01:03:32 watching it. Like, it's, it's tremendous. And coming off of this, yeah. I think it would be a good idea only because it would be this episode's more fresh in your mind. Yeah. So you would probably have, you would probably have a little more substance to all watching it.
Starting point is 01:03:53 The only thing, and this is so minor and inconsequential, but they're coming into like a new version of the Enterprise, starting with the motion picture. So You know as long as you don't mind kind of just jump in the gun and seeing like this new refit not getting the backstory behind that which like I said really isn't a big deal Yeah All right, well, yeah, we'll talk about. I'll let you lecture me and I'm not gonna lecture you Why you why you scared of me all of a sudden Because you're wearing a hoodie. I'm called I'm bald
Starting point is 01:04:33 Bold your bold and bald so Brad I see you are your bike back there Yeah, I can't on got a belt. I can't Yeah, we don't actually know much money Brad makes but apparently it's a lot for him to have two peloton's two peloton's whale is our mo I should claim my glasses guys I'm getting a free treadmill Hey How how can I get a free treadmill ask people
Starting point is 01:05:04 How how can I get a free treadmill ask people That's like downstairs if you want it, Brad like we've been wanting we're planning on running a 10k next year And it is fancy way too cold to go running outside right now But we have a garage that we've converted into a gym and Run out run the the Spartan race with me, buddy. City field. There's hold on hold on. We need to, we need to slow down here. Those are two completely different things.
Starting point is 01:05:33 It was, listen, it was basically a stadium run 5K. Like it was a legitimate 5K. You know, all we're getting the rapid up signal from our co-host here. Well, yeah, Brad, Brad, if we just turn off Brad's camera, we can't see him doing it. But that's true. Brad's right. Next week, or sorry, two weeks from now, we'll be watching an episode called A Taste
Starting point is 01:05:58 of Armageddon, which is the 23rd episode of the first season, and it was released on February 23rd episode of the first season. And it was released on February 23rd, 1967. The Enterprise Vits is a planet engaged in completely computer-sevalated war with a neighboring planet, but the casualties, including the Enterprise's crew are supposed to be real. Does that give you goosebumps? I mean, it sounds pretty cool.
Starting point is 01:06:23 It doesn't give you goosebumps either. It sounds like every other day, and start track episode, I mean, it sounds pretty cool. It doesn't give me goosebumps either.
